Hints
Gold Medalist
Beat the first 5 events in any order without losing or continuing to earn double gold medals in subsequent events. Note: This may require much practice.
Weightlifting: Clean & Jerk
Start with a lower weight in the first try to get placed in the standings. Then go for the medals in the second attempt.
Equestrian
Many jumps can be cleared if the horse is not going at full speed. Let go of the R stick just as you approach most of the jumps.
Vault
The faster you build up the run meter, the slower the jump becomes, which gives you more time to press the combination.
Rings
Use the fingertips to press the L1/R1 buttons rapidly.
Floor Exercises: Men
Try to tap your feet to the music when playing this event to keep your rhythm steady.
100m Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly
Be sure to press L1 immediately at the breathe prompt. The faster you press L1, more speed is allowed.
Shotput
A good angle to throw in the event is 45 degress.
Javelin
The best time to throw is before two steps after the athlete steps on the < echelon on the ground. Also, keep the stick tilted even before power lock appears, so you don't have to adjust too much during the windup.
Discus
It's easy to overdo power and foul. Keep meter in the black. The best angle to throw is the white line in the angle meter.
Pole Vault
The more you build up the power meter, the bigger the outlined meter gets. Make the event easier on yourself by raising the power as high as you can before the vault.
High Jump
Double-tap the L1 button at the jump. Note that there are 8 steps before the jump.
Long Jump / Triple Jump
Keep your eyes on the athlete's feet. Press L1 just before you see the foot land on the white foot marker.
100m, 110m Hurdles
The starting takeoff is the most important part of the race. Anticipate the gun. A quick start means less time. You should also be able to set a rhythm to jump the hurdles.
800m, 1500m
Keep an eye at the athlete's meter at the top of the screen. Running too hard at the start makes the heart meter drop fast. Conserve the heart meter by running less than full speed. The more hearts means the more second wind boost you get. Only tilt the R stick all the way up when overtaking. For the rest of the race, tilt the R stick slightly up. Use the L1 boost when at the final stretch of the race. Also, stick to the inside of the track for a faster time.
100m, 200m, 400m
Get the drop on the starting gun. The faster your reaction time, the better your score.
