v 2.60 (12/14/02) - Added some comments about the linked "Bane"
moves under the "Combination Attacks &
Upgrades" section. This will hopefully help
explain how to do the bane moves.

Added a few more tips from Jakob Parsens &
Will Steal for an elusive treasure chest in
                        Mission 5: Amon Hen.

Added a tip for the Cave Trolls under the
                        secret mission, courtesy of HowYouDoin1002.

I want to thank everyone out there who has
helped to contribute to this guide. All tips
and hints are helpful. There are many others
who provided the same tips as those in this
guide and that help was GREATLY appreciated.
                        Thank you!

Also, added "Hosting Log" section and did
some rearranging of the general layout.

V 2.55 (11/19/02) - Added some cheat codes to the "SECRETS &
CODES" section. (Thanks to SumnerSecrets for
                        these.)

v 2.50 (11/18/02) - Fixed some things and added a tip on how to
obtain the elusive treasure chest Mission 7:
Plains of Rohan. (Thanks to Rafael Murphy
                        for this.)

v 2.00 (11/17/02) - Updated the secret mission to include
strategies for Legolas and Gimli. Also, added
tips and strategies for Mission 4: Balin's
Tomb and Mission 9: Gap of Rohan. These tips
were provided by Michael Mittag. Added some
alternate general strategies for the secret
                        mission, courtesy of AzureXVIII. (Thanks
                        guys!)

v 1.00 (11/11/02) - Completed Helm's Deep: Hornburg Courtyard
strategies for both Legolas and Gimli, so
the entire Walkthrough section is complete!!!
Also completed Aragorn’s portion of the
Tower of Orthanc mission. Added the "CODES"
                        section.

v 0.98 (11/10/02) - Completed FAQ skeleton (not quite finished yet)

***********************************************************************

So, I wrote this FAQ to (hopefully) help gamers and give them an
in-depth look into the video game “The Lord of the Rings: The Two
Towers.” Okay, I was bored too.

This is my first FAQ. I attempted to play through every level with
Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, documenting strategies specific to each
character. Some of the strategies are the same, but some (especially
later levels differ quite dramatically) It might be a little long,
but I hope it’s helpful for you.

CONTROLS
========
Guard = Square (S) button
Speed Attack = (X) button
Fierce Attack = Triangle (T) button
Push An Enemy = Circle (C) button

Bow & Arrow
-----------
Press and hold the L1 button. You can aim by using the left analog
stick. A little bright dot will appear above your target. To fire
an arrow, press (X) or (T) while holding down L1. Your character will
auto-aim most of the time, but there will be instances when you might
have to do the aiming manually.

However, be careful when firing arrows, because it could leave you
very vulnerable to attack.

==============
ATTACK RATINGS
==============
When you attack an enemy, you will get an "attack rating" for how
skillfully you disposed of that enemy. The four ratings are:

Fair
Good
Excellent
Perfect

The higher the attack rating, the more experience you will gain. To
get high attack ratings (good, excellent, perfect), try to defeat your
enemies without getting hit. If you defeat enough enemies without
getting hit, you Skill Meter will fill up and glow. When this happens,
your attacks will inflict more damage - for a short period of time.

Example: one hit will defeat an enemy, giving you a "perfect" attack
rating for that enemy and thus rewarding you with more experience.

Filling the Skill Meter Quickly
-------------------------------
To fill the skill meter quickly, use special combination attacks.
These can be purchased after each mission. You will know when you
pull off a combo attack because the name of the move will appear in
the bottom left corner of the screen.

Just make certain your combo attacks actually hit you enemies,
otherwise your skill meter will not fill up. If you do this, you'll
soon be hacking with joy at your foes.

Note: On the linked "Bane" moves, in order for them to work properly,
you must first wait for an enemy to attack you. Then, parry
the attack with the square (S) button. Immediately follow this
up by pressing both the (X) button and the (R1) button at the
same time. All Banes work the same way. But they will only
work if you have purchased the proper upgrade. For example, if
you purchased only Goblin Bane but not Orc Bane, a bane move
will not yet work on an orc.

TIPS FOR UPGRADING
==================

After you complete a mission with each character, purchase ALL the
upgrades you can. Don't worry about saving up your upgrade points for
later. Just buy all the upgrades you can between missions because they
will most likely be very helpful in the missions to come.

AND NOW . . .

************************* VI. DA WALKTHROUGH ************************
***********************************************************************

=======================================================================
---------------------MISSION 1 - PROLOGUE (ISILDUR)--------------------
=======================================================================

Part I - Guard & Speed attacks

There is a long intro movie cutscene, and suddenly you are dropped in
the middle of the Orc carnage.

Don't worry - you can't die here, so just follow the button
instructions that flash on the screen to get a feel for the game
controls.

Guard = Square (S) button
Speed Attack = (X) button
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

After fighting a bit, there will be a rendered cutscene with archers
and some orcs running around.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part II - Fierce Attack

Here you will go back to the action and learn the fierce attack.
This attack is to be used on enemies with shields. A fierce attack
will break the enemy's shield, allowing you to then use other attacks
to damage it. If you do not use fierce attacks, to destroy their
shields, you cannot damage them.

Fierce Attack = Triangle (T) button

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Soon, Mt. Doom will erupt.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part III - Go Berserk!

Just get a feel for how the controls work, trying differing tactics
to what works best for you. Practice trying to string attacks together
and build up your skill meter, so you will get "Perfect" attack ratings
and gain more experience.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Okay, so when he sees that you winning, Sauron will show up and reek
havoc on your armies. But, Ilsildur will take up his father's sword
and defeat Sauron (in one blow, I might add). The One Ring will pass
to Ilsildur, but to the grief of us all, he does not destroy it . . .
The story then shifts to Aragorn.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

=======================================================================
------------------MISSON 2 - WEATHERTOP (ARAGORN ONLY)-----------------
=======================================================================

Part I - Get ready to rumble!

The Ring Wraiths will attack. Run to the bonfire in the middle of
Weathertop and attack it to light your torch. Once your torch is lit,
you must attack the Ring Wraiths. The most effective way to do this is
to parry their attacks with the (S) button and then use a fierce (T)
attack to hit them. Make sure your torch stays lit, otherwise you
will not damage the Ring Wraiths. If you get knocked down, your torch
will fizzle - just re-light it.

Just keep parrying any attacks using the (S) button and then smack
them with fierce attacks (T). Each Ring Wraith takes about three hits
before it will run away.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Once you defeat two Ring Wraiths, Aragorn will tell Frodo to keep away
from the Ring Wraiths. Frodo then dons the ring and becomes invisible.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to the action. Now, when you fight the Ring Wraiths, a gray Frodo
can be seen scampering about Weathertop. Defeat one more Ring Wraith
and . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE

The Wraiths get angry and surround Frodo. (Yes, even though he is
invisible, they can still see him). The Wraiths stab him. Now for
the tricky part . . .
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part II - Protect Frodo!

Frodo is down! Repeat - Frodo is down! Now, you must fend off the
Ring Wraiths AND protect Frodo. An energy meter showing Frodo's life
will appear in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

A bunch of Ring Wraiths will close in. Only concern yourself with the
ones that get close to Frodo. If they get too close, they will stab
Frodo, and that's not good 'cause if Frodo dies, it's game over.

Again, fend off ring wraiths with fierce attacks (T). Make sure your
torch stays lit and don't get too far away from Frodo because this will
leave him vulnerable.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

After defeating the Ring Wraiths, you will have completed the mission
and will be rewarded with a movie cutscene of the forming of the
Fellowship in Rivendell. Here, you will acquire two new characters:
Legolas and Gimli!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

=======================================================================
-----------------------MISSION 3 - GATES OF MORIA----------------------
=======================================================================

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The Fellowship travels to Moria. Gandalf and friends decide to wait as
you scout ahead for danger.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------
AS ARAGORN
----------
Part I - The Mountain

Gimli will join you. Run to the bottom left corner of the screen to
attack the treasure chest in the ice. Break it with a fierce attack
(T). Inside is an experience block that'll give you, well experience
points. Those are always handy.

Run to the right and around the cliff. When Gimli says, "There are
orcs - many of them," three orcs will attack from the cliff on the
left. Dispose of them.

Move ahead a bit and three orcs will bust out of the mountain side and
attack. Remember to use combo attacks . . .

Farther ahead, two orcs will burst out of the rock, and soon two more
will join them. After you defeat them, be sure to check out the
treasure chest in the newly formed cave on the left. Inside is a
"full life" potion. Move on.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Gimli runs out ahead to take down some more orcs. But an orc creeps up
behind him. Aragorn will shoot an arrow, taking out the enemy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to the game. Here, there are three orc archers that shoot flaming
arrows at you. The fastest way to take them out is to use your bow and
fire arrows back at them. Take out the three orc archers quickly with
your arrows because in a minute three to four more orcs will jump off
the mountain side and dash at you with that hungry look in their eyes.

Once finished with that, dash down to the ravine, and run across,
making sure to pick up any items that the fallen orcs drop.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

When you run across the ravine, Gimli suggests entering the mines of
Moria. While this is going on, orc archers set up camp on the
mountainside and begin launching a barrage of arrows. Aragorn deflects
them, and it's back to the action.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, there are three orc archers in the distance, but you've got other
things to worry about because an orc will rush down to where you are
standing and pick on you. Once you tell that orc to go away, quickly
take out the orc archers with your arrows (this is the only way you
can hit them). Once you do this, more rabid orcs will appear to cause
you trouble. Fierce (T) and Combo attacks work best here. Use them
to build up your skill meter.

Run on ahead. More walls will break, and more orcs will attack (I see
a pattern here). If you need to, break the treasure chest - it has a
quiver of 20 arrows.

Running forward, you will soon meet two orc archers. Don't worry
about firing arrows, just run up to them and take them out with your
sword. While you're disposing of the archers, three more orcs will
run down the path to attack you - so be ready. I recommend getting
rid of the archers first because they can just be annoying.

Move on up the mountain path to find two orcs just waiting to attack
you. Use combo attacks to quickly take them out quickly because you
also have to worry about two new orc archers. Just fire your arrows
at them. They'll each go down with two hits. One of the archers will
drop a quiver of twenty arrows - be sure to pick it up.

Part II - The Marsh

Okay, after this, move on ahead. The camera will shift, and you will
find yourself in a swampy marshy area. Make your way forward through
the muck. Two orcs will leap up from the water and attack. Knock
them down with fierce attacks. If they don't die right away, press
the R2 button to thrust your sword downward into the water, finishing
them off.

Move quickly through the water and get up on the shore as soon as you
can. This will give you greater maneuverability. More orcs will jump
out of the water and attack. Take care of them and walk back into the
water to move ahead. There will be some archers firing at you again
(surprise!). Hit them with arrows first if you can. But be careful
because more orcs will jump out of the water and come after you.

Next is a place where you will have to move through a pretty narrow
area of the marsh. But there is a problem: a bunch (about four)
archers are firing at you. Stay away from them and shoot a few arrows
to take them down. Be sure to dodge their arrows because this area can
get really frustrating if you get hit by about four arrows in a row
(ouch!). DO NOT move forward until the archers have been defeated
because if you do, an army of orcs will rise from the water, creating
a bigger problem than you want.

Once the archers are defeated, quickly move through the narrow area of
the marsh and get up on shore as fast as you can. Remember that army
of orcs I told you about? Well, here they come.

If you are low on life, there is a treasure chest with a "full life"
potion in it at the end of the shoreline. A few more orcs will attack.
Just take them out with your sword and march onward toward the
pond/swamp area next to the Gates of Moria.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

You will see The Watcher. Gimli is knocked down, and you must fight
it alone.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

******************
BOSS - THE WATCHER
******************

Don't worry - if you die here, you can continue without having to go
through the level again. You'll just have to fight The Watcher again.

The Watcher stays in the water (except for its tentacles which slap
you silly if you're not careful). You need to get him to show his
face. But first, quickly pick up the quiver of arrows conveniently
located on the left end of the shoreline - you will need them.

Now, wade into the water and wait for a tentacle to appear. When one
does, get close to it and make sure to parry its attack (this is key).
Once you parry, the tentacle will be shocked briefly and flail in the
air for a moment. Use this opportunity to quickly slice the tentacle
(with a quick or fierce attack). Then, the Watcher will roar, and its
head will surface on the water.

You must attack the head, but you cannot attack it directly with sword
attacks. Use your arrows to.

Note: Only fire ONCE every time the head surfaces. Trying to hit it
with more than one arrow will only waste your precious arrows.

Okay, just keep slicing the tentacles and hitting its head with arrows
until the Watcher goes away.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Now Gimli is miraculously okay! Thanks for the help, man. The
Fellowship enters the long dark of Moria.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

***You have completed Mission 3***

----------
AS LEGOLAS

Move ahead a bit and three orcs will bust out of the mountainside and
attack. Remember Legolas doesn't really have any special combo attacks
yet, so be careful.

Farther ahead, two orcs will burst out of the rock, and soon two more
will join them. After you defeat them, be sure to check out the
treasure chest in the newly formed cave on the left. Inside is a "full
life" potion. Move on.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Gimli runs out ahead to take down some more orcs. But an orc creeps up
behind him. Legolas will shoot an arrow, taking out the enemy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to the game. Here, there are three orc archers that shoot flaming
arrows at you. The fastest way to take them out is to use your bow and
fire arrows back at them. Take out the three archers quickly with your
arrows because in a minute three to four more orcs will jump off the
mountain side and dash at you with that hungry look in their eyes. If
you see them coming, you can probably take out one or two with your
arrows before they get to you because Legolas is rather quick with
arrows.

Legolas deflects
them, and it's back to the action.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, there are three orc archers in the distance, and there's also an
orc running down to play with you. Take out as many of the archers as
you can before the running orc gets to you. Okay, now smack this
running orc silly with your swords and then quickly shoot the
remaining orc archers with your arrows (this is the only way you can
hit them). Once you do this, more rabid orcs will appear to cause
you trouble. Fierce (T) attacks work best here. You can defeat the
orcs in two hits - just don't get surrounded because with minimal
combo attacks right now, Legolas isn't the greatest at hand-to-hand
warfare.

Run on ahead. More walls will break, and more orcs will attack (I see
a pattern here). If you need to, break the treasure chest - it has a
quiver of arrows.

This next bit happens pretty fast. Running forward, you will soon
meet two orc archers. Defeat as many of the archers as you can with
your arrows quickly because three more orcs will run down the path to
attack you. And since you've got your bow ready, take out or at least
weaken a few of the rushing orcs as they head toward you. If they get
too close, just wail with your swords. Now, take out any remaining
archers.

Move on up the mountain path to find two orcs just waiting to attack
you. Use fierce (T) attacks to quickly take them out quickly because
you also have to worry about two new orc archers. Just fire your
arrows at them. They'll each go down with two hits. One of the
archers will drop a quiver of twenty arrows - be sure to pick it up.

Part II - The Marsh

Okay, after this, move on ahead. The camera will shift, and you will
find yourself in a swampy marshy area. Make your way forward through
the muck. Two orcs will leap up from the water and attack. Try and
hit them with arrows before they reach you. But you might have to
engage in swordplay. When in close combat, if an orc doesn't die right
away, press the R2 button to thrust your sword downward into the water,
finishing him off.

Move quickly through the water and get up on the shore as soon as you
can. This will give you greater maneuverability. More orcs will jump
out of the water and attack. Same strategy - you've got arrows: USE
THEM! Shoot all the orcs here that you can; it makes it much easier.
Walk back into the water to move ahead. There will be some archers
firing at you again (surprise!). Hit them with arrows first if you
can. But be careful because more orcs will jump out of the water and
come after you.

a bigger problem than you want, especially with Legolas.

Once the archers are defeated, quickly move through the narrow area
of the marsh and get up on shore as fast as you can. Remember that
army of orcs I told you about? Well, here they come. Take out the
first wave of orcs with your arrows (what else?), but resort to your
sword if they get too close. Then, finish off any orcs in the distance
with your arrows. (If you're feeling brave, I suppose you could take
them on with sword attacks, although I don't recommend it.)

If you are low on life, there is a treasure chest with a "full life"
potion in it at the end of the shoreline. A few more orcs will attack.
The orcs in this area might swarm in pretty fast, so you will probably
be forced to use sword attacks. Fierce (T) attacks tend to work well
here, as two taps of the (T) button will probably kill an attacking orc.
Just be careful not to get surrounded because Legolas can't take hits
like Aragorn and Gimli can. After you're finished here, march onward
toward the pond/swamp area next to the Gates of Moria.

behind him. Legolas will shoot an arrow, taking out the enemy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to the game. Here, there are three orc archers that shoot flaming
arrows at you. Don't worry about them yet because in a minute three to
four more orcs will jump off the mountainside and dash at you with that
hungry look in their eyes. Just run into the attacking orcs head-on,
taking them out with mighty speed (X) attacks. After that, defeat the
archers on the ground level and then hurl some throwing axes (just like
you would arrows) up at the archer on the ledge to finish him off.
Remember though, Gimli is a bit slow with the throwing axes.

Once finished with that, dash down to the ravine, and run across,
making sure to pick up any items that the fallen orcs drop.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

When you run across the ravine, Gimli suggests entering the mines of
Moria. While this is going on, orc archers set up camp on the
mountainside and begin launching a barrage of arrows. Aragorn deflects
them, and it's back to the action.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, there are three orc archers in the distance, and there's also an
orc running down to play with you. This could get a bit tough, but
defeat the running orc with speed (X) attacks, as fierce attacks are
too slow here. Stop (when you have a free moment) and hurl some of
your throwing axes up at the archers. Some more orcs will appear,
and you'll have to contend with them for now. Negotiate with extreme
prejudice using speed (X) attacks. Once the orcs are gone, dispose
of any remaining archers.

Note: Be sure to pick up any health packs the orcs drop - you'll
       probably need them.

Run on ahead. More walls will break, and more orcs will attack (I see
a pattern here). If you need to, break the treasure chest - it has
some throwing axes.

Running forward, you'll bump into two orc archers. Just run up to
them and smack them with speed (X) attacks, remembering to parry or
dodge any incoming arrows. While you're making the archers eat steel,
about three more orcs will run down the mountain path, and like good
little minions, start to pound on you. Just use speed attacks again to
get rid of them. Take out the archers, if you haven't already.

Move on up the mountain path to find two orcs just waiting to attack you.
Dispose of them with speed (X) attacks. Ahead, there are two archers.
Chuck some throwing axes at the archer on the ledge. When he goes down,
just run up and hit the archer who is blocking your path with another
speed (X) attack. He'll drop a few throwing axes - be sure to pick
them up.

Part II - The Marsh

Okay, after this, move on ahead. The camera will shift, and you will
find yourself in a swampy marshy area. Make your way forward through
the muck. Two orcs will leap up from the water and attack. Knock them
back down with speed (X) attacks. If they don't die right away, press
the R2 button to swing your axe down into the water, finishing them off.

Worry about them later - just take
out any attacking orcs. When that's over, hurl a few throwing axes up
to the archer on the ledge. Then, just run over and greet the other
archer with a speed (X) attack.

Next is a place where you will have to move through a pretty narrow area
of the marsh. But there is a problem: a bunch (about four) archers are
firing at you. Stay away from them and shoot a few arrows to take them

Gimli (the tank), just stay back and throw some axes to take down a few
of the archers. But don't worry about all the archers just yet.

Instead, get up on the shoreline, and quickly move through the narrow
area of the marsh and get up on shore as fast as you can. Remember
that army of orcs I told you about? Well, here they come. Head
straight for the treasure chest with a "full life" potion in it at the
end of the shoreline. A few more orcs will attack. Take care of them,
dealing with any archers last. You might take a beating here, so be
careful.

-----------------------MISSION 4 - BALIN’S TOMB------------------------
=======================================================================

Recommended Upgrades/Character Level:

Aragorn (level 3)
  Isildur’s Swift Terror (X X T)

Legolas (level 2)
  Elrond’s War Rush (X X T)

Gimli (level 2)
  Balin’s Swift Terror (X X T)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The Fellowship enters Balin’s Tomb. Gandalf reads from an ancient
tome. Orcs break through the door, and the battle ensues.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------
AS ARAGORN
----------

Aragorn is fairly descent in hand-to-hand combat because of his quick
strikes. So, don’t be afraid to throw him into the thick of battle.

Many orcs will rush through the door, ready to attack. Use fierce (T)
attacks to break their shields. Try and use combo attacks like
Isildur’s Swift Terror (X X T) to build up your skill meter. Stay
relatively close to the door but not right next to it because you
don’t want to get surrounded. This way, you will be able to take down
many oncoming enemies.

If you build up your skill meter to where it glows, run directly to
the door. Stand in front of it and use a series of speed (X) attacks
to slaughter a bunch of orcs with a “perfect” attack rating. This is
an effective way to build up loads of experience points.

Don’t even bother with using your arrows. Just use this time to get a
better feel of how combo attacks function. If you get surrounded or
find yourself low on life, just run around to the back of the tomb.
Scout the area for life potions because there is a good chance some
orcs have dropped a few. If there are no life potions, just continue
to run around, dodging enemy attacks until your buddies in The
Fellowship defeat some orcs, and a few potions DO drop.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Soon, the floor will rumble, and a Cave Troll will lumber in. He
doesn’t look too happy. Now for the fun part . . .

Okay, the Cave Troll will come straight for you. I’ll give you a tip -
MOVE! You can’t parry his giant club that he is so fond of swinging.
So, you can use one of three methods to beat him:

First Method:
Use the rest of the members of The Fellowship to your advantage. Let
them handle things for a while. Run away from the Cave Troll
momentarily, letting him attack someone else. (There is no one else
to protect here - just yourself.) When the Cave Troll swings his
club, there will be a moment when hi pauses to pick up his weapon
again. In this moment, run in behind the Cave Troll and slap him with
a fierce (T) attack. Be careful not to get in front of him, as one
whack of his club can take as much as 1/4 of your life (and that’s not
fun).

Second Method:

Attack him head-on (if you’re brave and can time it right). After he
swings his club, dash up and hit him with ONE fierce (T) attack. Then
run away quickly because he will swing his club at you. Be careful to
only tap the (T) button ONCE when attacking him this way because if
you tap it two or more times, you will perform two quick swings that
leave you vulnerable to a blow from his club - and you WILL get smashed
(ouch!).

Third Method:

When you fight the Cave Troll, use the L2 button to jump back. That
is, run into him, deal two fierce blows, then jump back. The fierce
blows will interrupt the troll's attack, and jumping back will make
him just narrowly miss (and often take out any enemies that were
creeping up on you). Repeat. He'll go down fast. I've yet to try and
combo the guy. (Special thanks to Michael Mittag for this method.)

Just continue using one of the above methods, ignoring the rest of the
orcs in the tomb. However, some orcs will drop life potions
periodically, so keep your eyes open for them. Try and pick up a life
potion before the Cave Troll’s life drops by 1/3 (trust me - you’ll
need it) because when that happens . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The Cave Troll trades his club for a Chain Whip. Aragorn will then
leap up on a ledge.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part II - The Chain Whip

You have a very limited space to move here. But make the most of it.
There are two sections to this ledge: a left portion & a right
portion (great names, huh?). On each of these sections stand three
pillars which you will use for defense.

But enough about that because right away, an orc will attack you from
the left. Dispose of him with fierce (T) attacks.

Now for the chain-wielding Cave Troll. Get behind a pillar quickly
because the monster will whip his chain at you. And wouldn’t you
rather have a pillar take the hit rather than you? After he whips his
chain, step out slightly from behind the pillar and fire your arrows
at him.

Note: I recommend firing no more than two arrows at a time if you
shoot three or more at a time, you will most likely get smacked
       by the Cave Troll’s chain.

After firing your arrows, get behind the pillar again. But be warned:
the pillars will eventually break, leaving you open to attack. If
this happens, move to another pillar. If you find yourself in the
unfortunate situation where ALL of the pillars are broken, run around
and wait for the Cave Troll to whip his chain (away from you!). In
the brief moment that he retracts his weapon, fire some arrows (again,
no more than two at a time, unless you’re brave) at him. Repeat this
process.

Now, from time to time, a pesky orc will make it his goal in life to
annoy you by jumping up on the ledge and attacking you. Get rid of
him with fierce (T) attacks. Sometimes, the orc will drop “full life”
potions.

So, if you find yourself running low on arrows, don’t worry, just run
to the end of the right portion of the ledge. There you will find a
quiver of arrows conveniently waiting for you. Pick them up and fire
away. Oh, and the quiver will periodically reappear.

Another Strategy:

If you stand near a pillar, the chain won't hit you. So you can keep
standing beside a pillar and shoot arrows into the troll while he
keeps bashing his chain. If you do this, the troll drops around the
same time that you run out of pillars. (Special thanks to Michael
Mittag for this strategy.)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

When you beat the Cave Troll, he will fall over. (Yay!)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------
AS LEGOLAS
----------

Legolas is pretty good for the hand-to-hand combat in this area.

Many orcs will rush through the door, ready to attack. Use fierce (T)
attacks to break their shields. A good combo attack to use here would
be Elrond’s War Rush (X X T) - if you purchased it. This will build
up your skill meter rather quickly (about two combo attacks in a row
will do it). Stay farther away from the door so as not to get
surrounded. But, if you pull off enough combo attacks to get your
skill meter glowing, don’t be afraid to rush the door and start
hacking away at orcs.

As with Aragorn, don’t bother with using your arrows. Just use this
time to get a better feel of how combo attacks function. If you get
surrounded or find yourself low on life, just run around to the back of
the tomb. Scout the area for life potions because there is a good
chance some orcs have dropped a few. If there are no life potions,
just continue to run around, dodging enemy attacks until your buddies
in The Fellowship defeat some orcs, and a few potions DO drop.

crucial with Legolas as one whip from the chain will take a good 1/3
of your life meter. After he whips his chain, step out slightly from
behind the pillar and fire your arrows at him.

Note: Now, since Legolas is fast with arrows, you can probably shoot
off a good 3-4 arrows at once before having to take cover behind
       the pillars again.

After firing your arrows, get behind the pillar again. But be warned:
the pillars will eventually break, leaving you open to attack. If this

AS GIMLI
--------

Gimli is a tank - he can take the hits, so park yourself next to the
door and hack away, attempting combo attacks to build up your skill
meter, as this area is a fine place to gain lots of experience.

Many orcs will rush through the door, ready to attack. Now that you
purchased some combo attacks after the last mission, use them. An
effective combo attack is Balin’s Swift Terror (X X T). However, it
will take about three of these combo attacks in a row to fill your
skill meter. But keep trying. If you find you can’t pull off many
combos with Gimli, don’t worry. Instead, just use the good ‘ol fierce
(T) attack to despose of your orc infestation problem.

Don’t even bother with using your arrows. Just use this time to get a

Okay, get ready because this part of the fight is LONG with Gimli.
Just think of it as an exercise in patience . . .

You have a very limited space to move here. But make the most of it.
There are two sections to this ledge: a left portion & a right
portion (great names, huh?). On each of these sections stand three

Note: Since Gimli is slow at hurling axes, expect to only be able to
throw one at a time. If you’re lucky, you can launch two
without getting smacked by the chain, but if you try this,
chances are you’ll eat some chain.

After throwing your axe, get behind the pillar again. But be warned:
the pillars will eventually break, leaving you open to attack. If
this happens, move to another pillar. If you find yourself in the
unfortunate situation where ALL of the pillars are broken, run around
and wait for the Cave Troll to whip his chain (away from you!). In
the brief moment that he retracts his weapon, throw an axe (again
probably no more than one at a time - two if you’re brave) at him.
Repeat this process.

Now, from time to time, a pesky orc will make it his goal in life to
annoy you by jumping up on the ledge and attacking you. Get rid of
him with fierce (T) attacks. Sometimes, the orc will drop “full life”
potions.

So, if you find yourself running low on throwing axes, don’t worry,
just run to the end of the right portion of the ledge. There you will
find a pack of hurling axes happily waiting there for you. Pick them
up and fire away. Oh, and the pack will periodically reappear.

Another Strategy:

If you stand near a pillar, the chain won't hit you. So you can keep
standing beside a pillar and throw axes at the troll while he keeps

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

A summary of some events from the film The Fellowship Of The Rings
plays. Aragorn explains that Moria was a dark journey for all of them.
Gandalf falls into darkness in Moria. There is a brief (and I mean
BRIEF) section showing Lady Galadriel from Lothlórien. Then, it cuts
to Amon Deep where the Uruk-Hai attack, and Frodo runs off into the
bushes. Aragorn says that Frodo carries the fate of them all, and that
you must defend him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, this mission is LONG. You have two things to keep track of here:

Frodo's Life Meter (top right-hand corner of screen)
Defeating 75 Uruk-Hai (an Uruk-Hai meter is next to Frodo's)

If Frodo's life meter depletes, you will fail the mission, so you must
move quickly through this mission, taking out any and all Uruk-Hai
along the way.

----------
AS ARAGORN
----------

Part I - Hilltop

Right away, about 16 Uruk-Hai will bombard you. Thank goodness Legolas
and Gimli are there to help out. Use combo attacks and take out the
charging Uruk-Hai. The Uruk-Hai meter should read about 59 when you
defeat all the enemies in this section.

Note: Don't constantly worry about what number the Uruk-Hai meter
says. Just use it as a guide for how close you are to
completing the level. (The closer it gets to "0", the closer
you are to the end of the mission.)

Don't forget to run up the stone steps and grab the experience block
in the treasure chest.

Okay, running forward and on to the next area, you will be greeted by
two Uruk-Hai and one archer. Dispose of the attacking Uruk-Hai first
and the archer last.

Note: You will see Uruk-Hai running through the trees from time to
time. Unless they jump out of trees or fire arrows at you,
you cannot hit them, and they can't hit you. So don't worry
       about them.

With Aragorn, archers will die with 5-6 arrows. Be careful, though,
because the archers' arrows will sometimes cause fires. Obviously,
avoid the fires at all costs or they will gladly suck all your life
away very efficiently.

With all the Uruk-Hai here defeated, move to the right to see a . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Lurtz (the Big Baddie) will bark orders to "Find the Halfling!" (He
means Frodo.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

PART II - Arches & Archers

In this new section, Gimli and Legolas have conveniently left you to
battle alone (hmmmmm . . .). But you will hear Legolas say: "We must
defeat these Uruk-Hai in order for Frodo to escape!"

Right away, one Uruk-Hai will come down from the left to play. Tell
him to go away. Take out the 3 archers perched around the stone
arches in the distance with you arrows.

As you're disposing of the archers, 2 more Uruk-Hai will leap out and
run at you. Make them eat steel. If there are any archers left after
this, shoot them with arrows because once you get closer to the stone
arches, one more Uruk-Hai will leap out from the right and start
whacking away at you.

Note: There is a treasure chest full of arrows on the left side of the
path by the tree. Pick them up if you need them.

Now, run down through the arches. The camera will shift. Turn left
and run up to the top of the arches to pick up an experience block in
another treasure chest.

Some Uruk-Hai will run up on the arches and attack you. Use arrows to
fend them off before they get to you or just take them out with combo
attacks (I recommend combo attacks). Make your way back down the stone
arches to the forest floor and run to your right, down the path to find
3 Uruk-Hai slashing at you.

Move on down the forest path. The camera will shift again and you will
be staring at 3 archers. But, there is a little rock wall - it's your
friend here. Use it for cover as they fire at you. Wait until the
archers fire their arrows, then step out from behind the wall, shooting
arrows back. Focus on defeating one archer at a time as this will make
it easier. Be sure to get behind the wall periodically - unless you
want to get pelted by raining arrows. On the other side of the wall is
a treasure chest full of arrows. Restock. Move on.

In the next open area, about 3 Uruk-Hai will run out of the trees, but
be careful here because more enemies will soon filter out of the forest,
giving you about 9 Uruk-Hai in all to deal with. Oh, and don't forget
the annoying archer up on the rock hitting you with arrows. Take him
out with your own arrows.

Move on to see . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

More Uruk-Hai running through the forest.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to the action. Three archers will be perched in the forest.
Quickly get behind another conveniently placed rock wall, and use it as
a shield. This can get pretty annoying because the archers shoot their
arrows, surrounding you with a circle of flames. Stay away from the
fire. When you can, shoot the archers and just wait for the fire to
fizzle out. When it is safe, move on to your right.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Frodo will be hiding behind a tree, while Uruk-Hai warriors run past,
with absolutely NO clue he is there.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

PART III - Courtyard Ruins

Looking ahead, you will see a sort of courtyard, and one archer ready
to attack. If you have enough arrows left, use them to defeat him from
a great distance. Run down to where he was (before he bit it). The
camera will shift, and you will be in the courtyard ruins. About 3
Uruk-Hai will run up some stairs and attack you. Dispose of them.

Note: Before running down the stairs, look at the wall. There is a
sort of doorway with some vines covering it. Run over to it
and break the vines with about 2-3 fierce (T) attacks. Run
inside to find a teasure chest with an experience block.
(Thanks to Will Steal and Jakob Parsons for this one.)

Dash down the steps to the lower portion of the courtyard. You will be
greeted by more angry Uruk-Hai and 2 archers (you must use your arrows
to defeat these archers).

Move on to the left and down some more steps. You will hear Legolas
shout "Aragorn!" And Gimli and Legolas will rejoin you. Take care of
any remaining Uruk-Hai and run toward the bridge.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli will dash onto the bridge and fight some
Uruk-Hai.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

PART IV - The Bridge

Beat up as many Uruk-Hai as fast as you can here. Your Uruk-Hai Meter
should be getting really close to zero by now. Check and make sure
that Frodo still has some life 'cause you don't want him to die. Combo
attacks are your friend here, and so is a full skill meter. To beat
this section, defeat enough Uruk-Hai to bring your count down to "0".

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

A few Uruk-Hai will chase after Frodo, but luckily Legolas launches
arrows at them, allowing the Hobbit a free route of escape.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, you just have to defeat any Uruk-Hai that come at you. Boromir's
(one of The Fellowship) life meter will appear in the upper right-hand
corner of the screen. Just survive until Boromir's life is depleted.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Sadly, Boromir dies. That nasty Lurtz did it! Go get him!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

************
BOSS - LURTZ
************

Note: If you die here, just continue, and you will automatically
       restart from this point.

Part I - Bows & Arrows

Lurtz will fire flaming arrows at you. Dodge them and fire some arrows
back at him. He will fire 3 three arrows successively and then pause.
Use this time to pelt him with your arrows. You can probably get off
about 2-3 shots at once.

Periodically, throughout the battle an annoying Uruk-Hai will attack
you as well. Be ready for that. But, the plus side here is that
sometimes he will drop "full life" potions. That is good.

After Lurtz takes about 5-6 arrows . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Lurtz will trade his bow for a sword.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

PART II - Swords & Statues

The camera will shift to a strange angle, giving you a limited view of
the arena. Be careful because Lurtz is FAST! He will dash over to
you (he likes to sneak up from behind) and efficiently make ground
round out of you if you're not careful.

So, there are six states around the perimeter of the arena. Run over
to one and try to get Lurtz to attack you. Lurtz's sword will then
get lodged in the statue. While he is trying to pull it out, take
this opportunity to slap him with 3-4 fierce (T) attacks.

Be warned, though . . . the statue will soon break, and Lurtz will
continue his pursuit of you. When that happens, just run to another
statue and repeat the process.

Note: If another annoying Uruk-Hai decides to join in the fun, just
hit him with fierce (T) attacks. The best time to do this is
when Lurtz gets his sword stuck in one of the statues.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Aragorn will let Boromir rest in peace.

AS LEGOLAS
----------

Part I - Hilltop

This mission can be a bit tough with Legolas, as his sword attacks are
not very strong. Use your arrows frequently on this mission. They
will help immensely when fighting hordes of 10 Uruk-Hai or more.

Right away, about 16 Uruk-Hai will bombard you. Thank goodness Aragorn
and Gimli are there to help out. Use combo attacks and take out the
charging Uruk-Hai. The Uruk-Hai meter should read about 59 when you

you are to the end of the mission.)

So don't worry
       about them.

With Legolas, archers will die with about 4 arrows. Be careful,
though, because the archers' arrows will sometimes cause fires.
Obviously, avoid the fires at all costs or they will gladly suck all
your life away very efficiently.

With all the Uruk-Hai here defeated, move to the right to see a . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Lurtz (the Big Baddie) will bark orders to "Find the Halfling!" (He
means Frodo.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

PART II - Arches & Archers

In this new section, Gimli and Aragorn have conveniently left you to
battle alone (hmmmmm . . .). But you will hear Legolas say: "We must
defeat these Uruk-Hai in order for Frodo to escape!"

Right away, one Uruk-Hai will come down from the left to play. Tell
him to go away. Take out the 3 archers perched around the stone
arches in the distance with you arrows.

As you're disposing of the archers, 2 more Uruk-Hai will leap out and
run at you. Pelt as many of the Uruk-Hai here as you can with arrows
before they get to you. Try not to get surrounded. But if you do,
run a safe distance away from your enemies then quickly turn around
and launch more arrows.

If there are any archers left after this, shoot them with arrows
because once you get closer to the stone arches, one more Uruk-Hai
will leap out from the right and start whacking away at you.

Use your
arrows to fend them off one by one. Only resort to sword attacks
if you have to. Make your way back down the stone arches to the
forest floor and run to your right, down the path to find 3 Uruk-Hai
slashing at you.

Move on down the forest path. The camera will shift again and you
will be staring at 3 archers. Not to worry, this is Legolas' forte.
There is a little rock wall - it's your friend here. Use it for cover
as they fire at you. Wait until the archers fire their arrows, then
step out from behind the wall, shooting arrows back. You can probably
pick off one or two of the archers before they even get a shot off.
On the other side of the wall is a treasure chest full of arrows.
Restock. Move on.

In the next open area, about 3 Uruk-Hai will run out of the trees, but
be careful here because more enemies will soon filter out of the
forest, giving you about 9 Uruk-Hai in all to deal with. Oh, and don't
forget the annoying archer up on the rock hitting you with arrows. So,
if you haven't guessed, this part can get a bit tricky with Legolas.
Take out as many Uruk-Hai as you can with your arrows. When you see
more Uruk-Hai coming, run back up the path a safe distance. Then,
turn around and fire more arrows at them. This works pretty well to
defeat the Uruk-Hai here. (Just don't forget about the archer perched
on the rock.)

Move on to see . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

More Uruk-Hai running through the forest.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to the action. Three archers will be perched in the forest.
Quickly get behind another conveniently placed rock wall, and use it
as a shield. This can get pretty annoying because the archers shoot
their arrows, surrounding you with a circle of flames. Stay away from
the fire. When you can, shoot the archers and just wait for the fire
to fizzle out. When it is safe, move on to your right.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Frodo will be hiding behind a tree, while Uruk-Hai warriors run past,
with absolutely NO clue he is there.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

PART III - Courtyard Ruins

Looking ahead, you will see a sort of courtyard, and one archer ready
to attack. If you have enough arrows left, use them to defeat him
from a great distance. Run down to where he was (before he bit it).
The camera will shift, and you will be in the courtyard ruins. About
3 Uruk-Hai will run up some stairs and attack you. Just use your
arrows here to take them out, unless they get too close.

You will
be greeted by more angry Uruk-Hai and 2 archers (you MUST use your
arrows to defeat these archers).

Move on to the left and down some more steps. You will hear Aragorn
shouting at you. And he and Gimli will rejoin you. Take care of any
remaining Uruk-Hai and run toward the bridge.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli will dash onto the bridge and fight some
Uruk-Hai.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

PART IV - The Bridge

Beat up as many Uruk-Hai as fast as you can here. Your Uruk-Hai Meter
should be getting really close to zero by now. Check and make sure
that Frodo still has some life 'cause you don't want him to die.
Combo attacks are your friend here, and so is a full skill meter. To
beat this section, defeat enough Uruk-Hai to bring your count down to
"0".

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

A few Uruk-Hai will chase after Frodo, but luckily Legolas launches
arrows at them, allowing the Hobbit a free route of escape.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, you just have to defeat any Uruk-Hai that come at you. Boromir's
(one of The Fellowship) life meter will appear in the upper right-hand
corner of the screen. Just survive until Boromir's life is depleted.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Sadly, Boromir dies. That nasty Lurtz did it! Go get him!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

************
BOSS - LURTZ
************

Note: If you die here, just continue, and you will automatically
       restart from this point.

Part I - Bows & Arrows

Lurtz will fire flaming arrows at you. Dodge them and fire some arrows
back at him. He will fire 3 three arrows successively and then pause.
Use this time to pelt him with your arrows. Here, with Legolas, you
can probably just keep pelting him with arrows non-stop.

Periodically, throughout the battle an annoying Uruk-Hai will attack
you as well. Be ready for that. But, the plus side here is that
sometimes he will drop "full life" potions. That is good.

After Lurtz takes about 5-6 arrows . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Lurtz will trade his bow for a sword.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

PART II - Swords & Statues

The camera will shift to a strange angle, giving you a limited view of
the arena. Be careful because Lurtz is FAST! He will dash over to
you (he likes to sneak up from behind) and efficiently make ground
round out of you if you're not careful.

So, there are six states around the perimeter of the arena. Run over
to one and try to get Lurtz to attack you. Lurtz's sword will then
get lodged in the statue. While he is trying to pull it out, take
this opportunity to slap him with about 2 fierce (T) attacks.

Be warned, though . . . the statue will soon break, and Lurtz will
continue his pursuit of you. When that happens, just run to another
statue and repeat the process.

Note: If another annoying Uruk-Hai decides to join in the fun, just
hit him with fierce (T) attacks. The best time to do this is
when Lurtz gets his sword stuck in one of the statues.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Aragorn will let Boromir rest in peace.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

AS GIMLI
--------

Part I - Hilltop

Gimli lives for hand-to-hand combat. He can dispose of an attacking
Uruk-Hai in 1-2 hits.

Right away, about 16 Uruk-Hai will bombard you. Thank goodness Aragorn
and Legolas are there to help out.

Don't forget to run up the stone steps and grab the experience block
in the treasure chest.

you cannot hit them, and they can't hit you. So don't worry
       about them.

With Gimli, archers will die with about 4 throwing axes. Be careful,
though, because the archers' arrows will sometimes cause fires.
Obviously, avoid the fires at all costs or they will gladly suck all
your life away very efficiently.

Note: Gimli is slow with throwing axes (duh), so don't bother using
them unless that is the only way you can defeat an enemy.
(Besides, Gimli likes swinging his BIG axe better anyway!)

With all the Uruk-Hai here defeated, move to the right to see a . . .

Two more Uruk-Hai will leap out and run at you. Just defeat all the
Uruk-Hai with Fierce (T) or combo attacks.

As you get closer to the stone arches, one more Uruk-Hai will leap out
from the right and start whacking away at you.

Note: There is a treasure chest full of throwing axes on the left side
of the path by the tree. Pick them up if you really want them.

Now, run down through the arches, taking out the archer with steel.
The camera will shift. Turn left and run up to the top of the arches
to pick up an experience block in another treasure chest, taking care
of any remaining archers on your way.

Some Uruk-Hai will run up on the arches and attack you. Just slap
'em with your BIG axe. Make your way back down the stone arches to
the forest floor and run to your right, down the path to find 3
Uruk-Hai slashing at you.

Move on down the forest path. The camera will shift again and you
will be staring at 3 archers. Use your throwing axes to defeat the
archer located in the trees, using the stone wall that's there for
protection from the other two archers. After that, just charge the
remaining archers and take them down with fierce (T) attacks.

Note: On the other side of the wall is a treasure chest full of
throwing axes if you really want them.

In the next open area, about 3 Uruk-Hai will run out of the trees, but
be careful here because more enemies will soon filter out of the

Gimli can take some pain, so run in there, slashing away. When you're
done, hit the archer on the rock with a few throwing axes (you have
to . . .).

----------------------MISSION 6 - FANGORN FOREST-----------------------
=======================================================================

Recommended Upgrades/Character Level:

Aragorn (Level 5)
  Goblin Bane (S X R2)

Legolas (Level 4)
  Goblin Bane (S X R2)

Gimli (Level 4)
  Goblin Bane (S X R2)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Merri & Pippin are taken away by the fleeing Uruk-Hai. Legolas,
Aragorn, and Gimli search for days, following their trail. Soon, they
come to Fangorn Forest and decide to split up to search for Uruk-Hai
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------
AS ARAGORN
----------

Run on ahead. Destroy the log in your path with some fierce (T)
attacks. Move on until you come to a giant tree trunk blocking your
way. Three shielded orcs will burst out of the log, and four more
orcs will attack you from behind. Remember, use fierce (T) attacks
to break their shields.

Once you take care of all problems here, run into the giant log. The
camera will shift to inside the hollow trunk. Run about halfway down
the trunk, and the ceiling will collapse, giving you an Uruk-Hai to
deal with. Now, this Uruk-Hai has a very LONG sword that WILL hit you.
And it is very hard to parry his attacks, so this can make him pretty
annoying. DO NOT fight him head-on. (Oh, and arrows are useless
here.) Instead, run back out the way you came - up and out of the log
into the big open area of the forest. The sword-weilding Uruk-Hai will
follow. Dodge his attackss and wait for him to swing his sword around
his head TWICE. He will lose his balance and pause (you should hear a
"clank" noise). Use this opportunity to QUICKLY run up behind him and
hit him with 1-2 fierce (T) attacks to knock him over. Once he is on
the ground, press the (R2) button to thrust your sword down and finish
him off.

Note: The sword-weilding Uruk-Hai can turn around very fast. So, be
sure to get up behind him quickly when he is vulnerable.

When you are finished here, run back into the giant tree trunk and out
the other end. Break the small log in your path. Move on.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Oh no, looks like you've got bigger problems than the sword-wielding
Uruk-Hai because two orcs coming slamming through the trees and fly
SMACK into the giant log. I wonder what awful, horrible thing can
toss orcs like rag dolls?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Run around the corner and into the open area to find a Cave Troll
emerging from the trees. (Remember this guy from Balin's Tomb?) Don't
worry, he's not as hard as he looks. Just wait for him to swing his
club, then run in and hit him with ONE fierce (T) attack. Be sure to
run away quickly (or press the [L2] button to jump back) because he
will take a swing at you. If you get too far away from him, he will
throw logs at you - watch out!

Just repeat this process until he falls over. With Aragorn, he will
go down in about 9 hits. He drops a "full life" potion, so pick it
up.

Break the fence and run ahead to see . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

An bunch of orcs are playing around a giant hole in a camp. They are
too busy knocking each other in to notice you behind them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sneak up on them and pull off a combo attack. When they finally notice
you, use fierce (T) attacks to break their shields.

Note: A happy treasure chest with a "full life" potion waits for you
near the back of the camp.

Run on to the river in the distance.

Here, the camera will shift, and some orcs will be waiting for you
downstream: 2 archers & 1 shielded orc. Take care of them and move
upstream.

The view will shift again. Just wade upstream until two orcs leap out
of the water wo attack. Knock them over and use (R2) to thrust your
weapon into the stream to finish them off.

Note: A good combo attack to use here is Goblin Bane (S X R2), as it
will defeat them in one movement.

Four more orcs will attack and one shielded orc as well. Beat them
silly.

When you're finished here, move on upstream and into the waterfall.
You'll enter a cave.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Another Cave Troll will come for you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Defeat this guy the same way you did the other. But, be careful - this
is a tight space in here. Again, the Cave Troll will drop a "full
life" potion.

Note: Be sure to get the experience block in the chest to the left.

Now, run toward the screen until you come to a wooden fence. Break it
and run down to some vines blocking the exit. Shatter them with a
couple fierce (T) attacks.

As soon as you do, a sword-wielding Uruk-Hai will come straight for
you. Be careful, because this is still a tight space. Again, get
behind him when he gets off balance. Knock him down and finish him
off when he is down.

Move ahead on the path to be greeted by two orcs and an archer. But
that's not all: a shielded orrc will also try to stab you in the butt.
First, take down the attacking orcs. Next, use your arrows to defeat
the archer. Break the log in your path and run ahead.

In a bit, a horde of orcs will attack (too many to count). Combos are
your best friend here. Once that is over, break the log in your way
and move onward.

CUTSCENE:

Two cave trolls come out and lay waste to some poor little orcs. Guess
what . . .

BOSS(ES) - TWO CAVE TROLLS
**************************

As if 1 wasn't enough . . . Now, you can choose one of two paths to get
to your foes:

Left - Break 3 logs
Right - Break some vines

I say go right and break the vines. Run through the tunnel past a chest
with a "full life" potion and turn around to face both Cave Trolls.

You'll have lots of space to work with here. These guys aren't any
different from the other Cave Trolls you've faced in the mission.
There's just two of them now.

The key here is to focus on one at a time, running up to use one fierce
(T) attack between club swings. Once you finish off one, move on to
the last Cave Troll, using the same process.

Now that they're no longer a problem, move over to the vines ahead -
but not before picking up the experience block in the treasure chest.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Legolas, Aragorn, & Gimli meet up again, and find Gandalf The White.
Gandalf explains that there is now a union between the Two Towers and
that war is coming to Rohan.

go down in about 10-11 hits. He drops a "full life" potion, so pick
it up.

Break the fence and run ahead to see . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

An bunch of orcs are playing around a giant hole in a camp. They are
too busy knocking each other in to notice you behind them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sneak up on them and pull off a combo attack. When they finally notice
you, use fierce (T) attacks to break their shields.

Note: A happy treasure chest with a "full life" potion waits for you
near the back of the camp.

Run on to the river in the distance.

Here, the camera will shift, and some orcs will be waiting for you
downstream: 2 archers & 1 shielded orc. Take care of them and move
upstream.

The view will shift again. Just wade upstream until two orcs leap
out of the water wo attack. Knock them over and use (R2) to thrust
your weapon into the stream to finish them off.

Next, use your arrows to defeat
the archer (it'll take about 2). Break the log in your path and run
ahead.

In a bit, a horde of orcs will attack (too many to count). Combos are
your best friend here. Once that is over, break the log in your way
and move onward.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Two cave trolls come out and lay waste to some poor little orcs. Guess
what . . .

BOSS(ES) - TWO CAVE TROLLS
**************************

As if 1 wasn't enough . . . Now, you can choose one of two paths to get
to your foes:

Left - Break 3 logs
Right - Break some vines

I say go right and break the vines. Run through the tunnel past a
chest with a "full life" potion and turn around to face both Cave
Trolls.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

--------
AS GIMLI
--------

Run on ahead. Destroy the log in your path with some fierce (T)
attacks. Move on until you come to a giant tree trunk blocking your
way. Three shielded orcs will burst out of the log, and four more orcs
will attack you from behind. Remember, use fierce (T) attacks to break
their shields.

(Oh, and throwing axes are
useless here.) Instead, run back out the way you came - up and out of
the log into the big open area of the forest. The sword-weilding
Uruk-Hai will follow. Dodge his attackss and wait for him to swing his
sword around his head TWICE. He will lose his balance and pause (you
should hear a "clank" noise). Use this opportunity to QUICKLY run up
behind him and hit him with 1-2 fierce (T) attacks to knock him over.
Once he is on the ground, press the (R2) button to thrust your sword
down and finish him off.

I wonder what awful, horrible thing can toss
orcs like rag dolls?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Run around the corner and into the open area to find a Cave Troll
emerging from the trees. (Remember this guy from Balin's Tomb?) Don't
worry, he's not as hard as he looks. Just wait for him to swing his
club, then run in and hit him with ONE fierce (T) attack. Be sure to
run away quickly (or press the [L2] button to jump back) because he will
take a swing at you. If you get too far away from him, he will throw
logs at you - watch out!

Just repeat this process until he falls over. With Gimli, he will go
down in about 5 hits. He drops a "full life" potion, so pick it up.

Break the fence and run ahead to see . . .

Recommended Upgrades/Character Level:

Aragorn (level 5)
  Rising Attack

Legolas (level 5)
  Rising Attack

Gimli (level 4)
  Rising Attack

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli ride across the Plains of Rohan. They find
Uruk-Hai raiding a village.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------
AS ARAGORN
----------

Gandalf The White will be with you briefly. Both of you show up at the
village gates. Two Uruk-Hai attack immediately.

Go inside the gates when you're finished with them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Gandalf and Aragorn come in through the gates to find a horde of
Uruk-Hai tormenting the villagers. Gandalf knocks some Uruk-Hai back
with his staff and says, "We must save all that we can or this village
will fall."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: Okay, so you have to do what Gandalf says. To save the
villagers, you must fight your way through the town VERY
QUICKLY. A meter showing an approximation of the remaining
villagers will appear in the upper right-hand corner of the
screen. If that depletes, you will fail the mission. Ready?
       Here we go!

After the cutscene, you will be dropped in the village square with one
problem: a horde of Uruk-Hai coming after you. There are a few
villagers scurrying about here. Defeat the Uruk-Hai while protecting
the villagers. When Gandalf says, "You must press on. I am needed
elsewhere," he will bust open a door on a nearby building and
disappear. Run inside.

Inside, there are villagers trapped at the back wall by fire. The
stairs are also blocked by fire. Destroy the table in the middle of
the room, making your way back to a barrel by the stairs. Break the
barrel, and it will splash water all over the fire, allowing the
villagers to escape.

Run behind the counter to the left and break everything in your path
to get to a treasure chest with an experience block.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Upstairs, Uruk-Hai are devastating more villagers (those meanies...).
One of the townsfolk will be knocked down the stairs, putting out the
fire in front of the steps.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

After the cutscene, an Uruk-Hai will charge in the door. Get rid of
him and run up the stairs.

Upstairs, there are 2 Uruk-Hai and one archer going after some
townsfolk. Destroy the tables in front of the steps so you can pass
and the villagers can escape. (Don't let them die!) Take care of the
2 Uruk-Hai first, then run over to that archer who is standing in the
door and take him out with fierce (T) attacks.

Outside, there is a wide open space with a house to the right.
Villagers will run out from behind the house, followed by a
sword-wielding Uruk-Hai. Don't let the people die. Wait for the
sword-wielding Uruk-Hai to get off balance, run behind him and take
him down. (If you're not careful, this guy can be a real pain.)

Run around the house to find two archers standing on the downed roof
of a cottage. There is also a villager here. Yet, he can't escape
because there is some fire in his way. Hurry and shoot the barrel
next to the fire with an arrow, dousing the fire. Now, the man can
run away. Now, just dash up and defeat the archers with fierce (T)
attacks.

After running over the downed roof, you will hear a woman shout, "Get
us out - hurry!" Here, there is a wooden barricade blocking the
escape route of the villagers. Don't touch the barricade yet, as it
is on fire. Shoot an arrow at a barrel nearby to put it out. Now,
run up to the barricade and destroy it with a few fierce (T) attacks.

Note: There is a treasure chest between the stone path and a house
here. However, I don't suggest trying to get it just yet
because the house is on fire. You will get caught in the
flames and happily watch your life evaporate.

Now, with the barricade destroyed, run up the path to find 2 Uruk-Hai
ready to say hello. Once you dropkick them into next Tuesday, you
will see a villager run out of a hole in the roof of a nearby building.
He is on fire. He is screaming. He is dead. Really - you can't save
him. Remember that treasure chest? On this top level there are
several barrels above the treaure chest below. If you hit these and
then run back down you will find that the chest with an experience
block is available. (Thanks to Rafael Murphy for this.)

Now, go back up to where you were and enter the building through
the roof.

Inside, you will be on the top floor. Make your way around to the
stairs, but be ready for a rabid Uruk-Hai coming up to get you. Smack
him down and run dash down the stairs. Head for the door, taking out
the Uruk-Hai there with your sword.

Stepping outside, you will find yourself in an all-out brawl with an
armada of Uruk-Hai. Thank goodness Gandalf has come back to join you
once more! Beat down the Uruk-Hai with your sword as fast as you can.

Note: Beware - there are villagers trapped on an elevated platform,
and a sword-wielding Uruk-Hai is after them. Just stuff him
full of arrows as fast as you can. (This is the only way you
can hit him here.) Don't let those villagers die! If you need
them, there are some arrows over by a haystack on the right side
       of the area.

With all the Uruk-Hai in this area defeated, break the wooden cart to
your left that is blocking your path.

Note: The cart will not break until ALL Uruk-Hai in this area are
beat down, meaning you can't proceed yet.

Run up the path.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Uruk-Hai are burning more of the village down. An Uruk-Hai will push
some villagers in a building and knock down the overhang to block the
door.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to the action. Lots of Uruk-Hai are coming. But let Gandalf and
the soldiers take care of them for now. What you have to do is quickly
run to the right and up a bit to find the building with the wood
blocking the door. Destroy the barricade.

Now, just defeat the remaining Uruk-Hai in this area. Be careful,
though, there are a few sword-wielding Uruk-Hai wandering around.

When all the Uruk-Hai are vanquished . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The survivors leave the village, and Gandalf says, "We have done all we
can. The survivors will make their way to Helm's Deep. You still have
work to do. I will come back to you at the turn of the tide."

route of the villagers. Don't touch the barricade yet, as it is on
fire. Throw an axe at a barrel nearby to put it out. Now, run up to
the barricade and destroy it with a few fierce (T) attacks.

Head for the door, taking out
the Uruk-Hai there with your axe.

Just stuff him
full of throwing axes as fast as you can. (This is the only way
you can hit him here.) Don't let those villagers die! If you
need them, there are some throwing axes over by a haystack on
the right side of the area.

With all the Uruk-Hai in this area defeated, break the wooden cart to
your left that is blocking your path.

Note: The cart will not break until ALL Uruk-Hai in this area are
beat down, meaning you can't proceed yet.

Run up the path.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Uruk-Hai are burning more of the village down. An Uruk-Hai will push
some villagers in a building and knock down the overhang to block the
door.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to the action. Lots of Uruk-Hai are coming. But let Gandalf and
the soldiers take care of them for now. What you have to do is quickly
run to the right and up a bit to find the building with the wood
blocking the door. Destroy the barricade.

Now, just defeat the remaining Uruk-Hai in this area. Be careful,
though, there are a few sword-wielding Uruk-Hai wandering around.

When all the Uruk-Hai are vanquished . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The survivors leave the village, and Gandalf says, "We have done all we
can. The survivors will make their way to Helm's Deep. You still have
work to do. I will come back to you at the turn of the tide."

Recommended Upgrades/Character Level:

Legolas (level 5)
  Lothlorien Longbow (Sturdier Arrows)

Gimli (level 5)
Rising Attack (on ground, push X)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

You are not alone in defending Rohan. The king's men are also fighting
their way through to Helm's Deep. A soldier says the Uruk-Hai are
using explosives in this area. He needs your help.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------
AS ARAGORN
----------

Part I - The Town

A soldier will join you, and you will be in an open area. Notice the
explosives in the barrels ahead of you. Three Uruk-Hai will run up to
attack you. A couple archers will park next to the explosives. Use
you sword to defeat the attacking Uruk-Hai. Or, if they are close
enough to one of the explosives, shoot the barrels with your arrows
to make them explode. Do the same for the archers.

Note: When playing through this mission, be sure to stay away from any
suspicious looking barrels, as they are probably explosives.

Move ahead. The camera will shift, and you will see about 4 Uruk-Hai
charging for you. You can either wait for them to get to you, or just
shoot the explosives straight ahead to take most of them out in one blow.
Take care of any remaining Uruk-Hai.

After this, move ahead. Don't forget to go up and check the little
stream for a treasure chest with an experience block.

Keep going right to find two orcs. Once you have disposed of them,
move along the path. A shielded orc will attack you.

Next, the path will curve to the left around a hill. Follow it. But
as soon as you turn the corner, you will see three Dynamite Uruk-Hai
running toward you. DO NOT let them get close to you because their
only mission in life is to blow you up. DO NOT attack them with you
sword. Instead, launch your arrows at them to ignite their dynamite
and dispose of them. Use this same technique for all three Dynamite
Uruk-Hai.

Run down the path and round the corner to the right. Now, this part
can get tricky. A load of Uruk-Hai will attack you, along with many
Dynamite Uruk-Hai. Use combo attacks here while making your way
through the area. Make sure to use your arrows to pick off the
Dynamite Uruk-Hai before they get to you. Look for any life potions
the Uruk-Hai may drop - you'll probably need them.

Note: Dynamite Uruk-Hai will continuous come running from the gates
ahead to attack you. Pick them off with arrows. There are
some arrows by a house on the left if you need them.

Move ahead to gate in the distance.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Uruk-Hai march down with more explosives. Soldiers ahead shouting,
"Hold them at the gate!" The soldiers and Uruk-Hai start to duke it
out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part II - The Gate

Right away, a shielded orc will attack. Once he is out of your way,
move forward on the path a bit to see a cart loaded with explosives.
There are some Uruk-Hai walking around there too. Shoot the
explosives with arrows to rid of some enemies.

Run down the path more to find many Uruk-Hai and archers fighting
with soldiers by the gate. Just shoot the explosives (there are a
lot of them) to dispose of the enemies. The gate will be on fire.
Run through it.

The camera will shift. Aragorn will say, "It is impassible," and you
will find 3 Uruk-Hai dashing up to greet you. There are explosives
all over this area. Shoot the explosives to easily dispose of the
Uruk-Hai. Here, more Dynamite Uruk-Hai will constantly run at you
again. Be sure to pick them off with arrows.

Round the corner to find yourself next to some houses. Guess what?
You're right - more Uruk-Hai are waiting. There are some archers along
the outside perimeter. Once finished here, move toward the windmill in
the distance. A cart will block your path. Destroy it with your
sword.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Uruk-Hai and archers will set up more explosives across the lake. They
are loading dynamite on to many carts.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part III - Crossing The Lake

More Uruk-Hai will attack. Take them out and wade through the lake,
headed for the other shore. Dynamite Uruk-Hai will run out into the
lake and come right for you. Again, take them out with arrows before
they reach you.

Wading across the lake, more Uruk-Hai will leap out from the water,
and archers will fire arrows at you from the other shore. Use some
arrows to rid yourself of the nuisance.

When you get to the other shore, there may be some Uruk-Hai remaining.
Just take them out. Shoot the big cart full of explosives with arrows
to see . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The cart will explode, starting a chain reaction that destroys all the
dynamite Aragorn and the soldiers will march onward toward Helm's Deep.

Note: This mission is actually a GREAT place for Aragorn and Legolas
To gain a lot of experience even though it is very short. More
       on that later.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Legolas will run up on a hilltop. Aragorn can be heard saying, “We
must not let the orcs reach the refugees.” Then it cuts to a crow
eating the corpse of an orc. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli cautiously
inch forward into a village. And suddenly two Warg Soldiers burst
through a barricade and attack.

Part I - Town

Legolas and Gimli are here. Two Warg Soldiers will attack, lunging
right at you. Step aside, dodging their attacks. Then quickly use a
combo attack like Isildur’s Swift Terror (X X T) to hit them from
behind. Also, if you block the attack of a regular warg, you will get
knocked down, but your rising attack sometimes hits.

Before you leave this area, run to the right, and break the barrel to
get an experience block. Then, head toward the top of the screen to
the burning house with the boarded-up entrance. To the right of this
is another barrel. Break it and pick up another experience block.

Now, bash through the barricade on the house and move ahead.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Aragorn will run through the burning house and out the other side. But
wood will fall in front of the exit, trapping Legolas and Gimli inside.
So, you’re alone again. The Warg Captain will show up and say: “Make
them fear the Wolves of Isengard!” And then a bunch of his minions
will charge forward - with that special look in their eyes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part II - River Bank

You will be standing in an open area with a river. Two Wargs will
attack at a time.

This is a GREAT place for Aragorn to gain loads of experience. Here’s
a tip on how to get an “Excellent” or “Perfect” attack rating on EVERY
Warg.

Experience Trick: Dodge any arrows the Wargs shoot at you. When they
lunge at you, dodge that attack too. Now, quickly
execute a combo attack like Isildur’s Swift Terror
(X X T) on an enemy from behind. Follow this up
with a quick arrow. You should get an “Excellent”
attack rating. Use this technique for all the
attacking Wargs. You will probably build up your
skill meter quickly with this technique, resulting
in a string of “Perfect” attacks. You can gain
about 2 levels using this trick here. (Special
thanks to [sammyc521] for this technique.)

You will have to face about four Wargs in this section. Then . . .

*******************
BOSS - WARG CAPTAIN
*******************

The big dude decides it’s time to play. It is hard to damage this
guy, as if you get too close to him, his Warg will pick you up and
fling you around. That’s not good. He lunges VERY quickly across the
arena. Oh, and he seems to dodge all of your arrows too . . . more on
that later. There are two methods to beat this guy.

Method 1:

The Warg Captain will not charge beyond the water’s edge, so run down
into the river. Wait for him to lunge at you. Don’t worry - he won’t
hit you (unless you attack him, then he will stay there and pound you
into the dirt). He’ll turn around and head back to the top of the
arena. Once he lunges at you TWICE, the Warg Captain will take his
place at the top of the arena, and his Warg will rear up on its hind
legs, exposing its belly. Now is your chance to run up and shash him
with one or two combo attacks. (If you are too far away, you can NOW
pelt him with arrows, but they don’t damage him much.) Then, run back
down to the water and repeat the process.

From time to time, another Warg Soldier will creep out from behind the
rocks to attack you. Use the “Experience Trick” from above to defeat
them and get more, well, experience. Sometimes, the Warg Soldiers
will drop “full life” potions.

Method 2:

When fighting the warg leader - block. Just hit the square button as
he lunges forward. The attack will throw you to the ground, but not do
any harm. Keep in the middle of the open space, and you'll have enough
time to block, yet you're close enough to hit him with a combo when
he's vulnerable. (Special thanks to Michael Mittag for this method.)

When you defeat the Warg Captain . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Some rotting corpses of orcs. Aragorn is heard saying, “Your people
were defended, but we paid for it with many lives. I almost lost an
arm. And so it is that the people of Rohan will make a final stand at
Helm’s Deep.” With Aragorn on his horse, all the villagers head for
Helm’s Deep.

When fighting the warg leader - block. Just hit the square button as he
lunges forward. The attack will throw you to the ground, but not do any
harm. Keep in the middle of the open space, and you'll have enough time
to block, yet you're close enough to hit him with a combo when he's
vulnerable. (Special thanks to Michael Mittag for this method.)

When you defeat the Warg Captain . . .

AS GIMLI
--------

Part I - Town

Legolas and Aragorn are here. Two Warg Soldiers will attack, lunging
right at you. Step aside, dodging their attacks. Then quickly use a
combo attack like Balin’s Swift Terror (X X T) to hit them from behind.
Also, if you block the attack of a regular warg, you will get knocked
down, but your rising attack sometimes hits.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Gimli will run through the burning house and out the other side. But
wood will fall in front of the exit, trapping Aragorn and Legolas
inside. So, you’re alone again. The Warg Captain will show up and
say: “Make them fear the Wolves of Isengard!” And then a bunch of
his minions will charge forward - with that special look in their eyes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part II - River Bank

You will be standing in an open area with a river. Two Wargs will
attack at a time.

Note: Unfortunately, unlike Aragorn and Legolas, Gimli is a bit too
slow to pull off the experience trick. But, you should use
combo attacks, nonetheless, against the Warg soldiers. You may
not receive an “Excellent” or “Perfect” attack rating, but it
never hurts to slash the enemies and still get as much
       experience as you can.

You will have to face about four Wargs in this section. Then . . .

*******************
BOSS - WARG CAPTAIN
*******************

The big dude decides it’s time to play. It is hard to damage this guy,
as if you get too close to him, his Warg will pick you up and fling you
around. That’s not good. He lunges VERY quickly across the arena.
Oh, and he seems to dodge all of your throwing axes too . . . more on

Now is your chance to run up and slash him
with one or two combo attacks. (If you are too far away, you can NOW
pelt him with throwing axes, but they don’t damage him much.) Then,
run back down to the water and repeat the process.

From time to time, another Warg Soldier will creep out from behind the
rocks to attack you. Sometimes, the Warg Soldiers will drop “full
life” potions.

Method 2:

When fighting the warg leader - block. Just hit the square button as he
lunges forward. The attack will throw you to the ground, but not do any
harm. Keep in the middle of the open space, and you'll have enough time
to block, yet you're close enough to hit him with a combo when he's
vulnerable. (Special thanks to Michael Mittag for this method.)

=======================================================================
-------------MISSION 10 - HELM'S DEEP 1: THE DEEPING WALL--------------
=======================================================================

Recommended Upgrades/Character Level:

Aragorn (level 8)
Wilderness Rage (Press and hold T)

Legolas (level 8)
  Elrond's Deliverance (T X X T)

Gimli (level 6)
  Rune Of Protection (Increase Health)

Before the mission, let me just say your task is to DEFEND THE WALL and
SURVIVE. There are three sections of the wall that you must protect:

The Left Section
The Right Section
The Middle Section

A few things to keep in mind during this mission:

1. Orcs and other nasty enemies are constantly climbing up the ladders
and getting on to the wall. That is not good. Keep the enemies
off the wall by constantly kicking the ladders over with the circle
    (C) button.

2. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen is a miniature map
that shows the locations on the wall where ladders are being placed
by enemies. (Each red circle on the map represents a ladder that
is currently going up on the wall.)

3. Also, on that same map, there is a meter that shows an
approximation of enemies on the wall. The meter will change color
    as the enemies accumulate:

           Blue               = A few enemies
           Yellow             = A few more
           Red                = Danger!
Flashing Red/White = Oh crap! (You fail mission)

Keep this meter Blue (or Yellow) by kicking over ladders
with the circle (C) button and taking out any enemies
that make it up to the wall.

Tips
----
Ladders: Be sure to keep track of ALL portions of the wall, running
to sections of the wall that correspond to where red dots are
on the map. If ladders pile up in a section of the wall, a
load of enemies is almost certainly there.

Enemies: Don't worry about taking out EVERY enemy on the wall by
yourself - other soldiers, plus your friends can help you out
there. Instead, concentrate on continually kicking down
ladders at every point along the wall. This will prevent
many enemies from even making it up to you.

Only take out enemies if they are in your way or there is a
big pile of them somewhere, and your meter is flashing
red/white. And if you get in a situation where you are
trying to defeat ONE enemy, and he just won't die, this
wastes time. Let him go and move on to knocking down more
          ladders.

Sometimes, if an enemy is close enough to the edge of the
wall, you can just push them off by pressing the circle (C)
          button.

Chests: On the left section of the wall is a chest with a "full life"
          potion.

There are barrels with experience blocks on the left section
          too.

A chest with a "full life" potion is at the end of the middle
          section of the wall.

At the corner of the left and middle sections rests a barrel
          with an experience block.

Now for the mission:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

This is the beginning of the battle for Helm's Deep. Uruk-Hai and orcs
sweat testosterone as they get ready to storm the wall. Aragorn,
Legolas, and Gimli stand, weapons in hand, preparing with their army
for the coming storm. Then, the orcs charge the wall, setting up
ladders. Gimli runs over to a ladder and knocks an orc off the wall.
Then Legolas joins in the fun, doing the same. He says, "There are
enough for us both, Gimli."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part I - Orcs

Now, you are dropped in the middle of the action. Orcs will attack.
Kick ladders off. Constantly check all sections of the wall. Use
combo attacks like Orc Bane (S X R2) to instantly kill non-shielded
orcs. Isildur's Swift Terror (X X T) and Isildur's Death Charge
(X C T) are also effective.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Part II - Orcs & Uruk-Hai

The rain of flaming arrows pelts the wall as more orcs attack. If you
are too close to the edge of the wall, you will get hit by flaming
arrows. Soon, Uruk-Hai will invade too, so be ready.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Oh no! The Uruk-Hai bust out the catapult and start launching bombs!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

 Part III - Pandemonium!

Huge bombs will bombard the walls! (These can kill you in one hit -
even if you have full life, so be careful!) Stay away from the edges
of the walls unless you have to kick a ladder over. More Uruk-Hai will
come. As if that isn't enough, Sword-wielding Uruk-Hai start hanging
around there too. You're almost done! Just keep kick over the
ladders, and make sure to take out enemies with combo hits. Build up
your skill meter here if you can. "Perfect" 1-hit attacks will really
come in handy right about now.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Whew! Thank goodness! Here comes the Calvary! Soldiers will line up
on the wall and proceed to launch a barrage of arrows straight at the
invading Uruk-Hai, fending them off. Aragorn will kick one more ladder
over (for good measure) and declare, "They are falling back. It is
over for now." But, some Uruk-Hai use explosives to breach the wall.

Your task is to protect the door to your left at all costs. Stay close
to it. There is a meter in the upper right-hand corner of the screen
that shows the defense of the door. If that depletes, you fail the
mission.

All of the Uruk-Hai in this mission will attack the door. Don't let

The villagers dash inside a door to take cover from another wave of
attacking Uruk-Hai.

----------

Part I - First Wave

Right away, Uruk-Hai will attack from the distance. First will be a
wave of Dynamite Uruk-Hai. Shoot your arrows at them. If at any time
you run low on arrows, you can run out into the open and pick up a few,
as the Uruk-Hai like to drop arrows and life potions. (But be sure to
get back to the door.)

Soon, some shielded orcs and other enemies will start invading also,
heading straight for the door. Use your sword and combo attacks such
as Isildur's Gambit (X T X X). Use Bane of Saruman to dispose of
attacking Uruk-Hai (S X R2). Try and build up your skill meter to
unleash a barrage of "perfect" hits.

Note: When fighting other enemies, be sure to keep an eye out for
Dynamite Uruk-Hai coming. If any are headed your way, try and
pick them off with arrows before they get to you.

If you run into the wonderful situation of twenty or so orcs and
Uruk-Hai banging on the door, and there's a Dynamite Uruk-Hai heading
right for you, you can try another tactic: let the dynamite Uruk-Hai
come to the door where all the other enemies are. He will then stop
momentarily to light his explosives. Now, run QUICKLY away to a safe
distance and watch as the Dynamite Uruk-Hai explodes and takes out all
the enemies by the door for you (What a nice guy)!

Note: Watch out for any sword-wielding Uruk-Hai that might show up.

After a while . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The Uruk-Hai send archers to shoot flaming arrows at you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part II - Second Wave

A row of archers lines up, and now flaming arrows and bombs fly in your
direction. Pick as many of the archers off with your arrows as you can
before any more Uruk-Hai (like a sword-wielder) come for you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The Uruk-Hai are preparing a catapult.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part III - Third Wave (Cave Troll)

If Dynamite Uruk-Hai start coming at you, try and pick them off with
arrows when they are close to the archers. That way, you'll take out
a good portion of the archers too.

Soon, a Cave Troll will want to play. He'll lumber on down to you.
Just wait for him to swing his club. Then, run in and hit him with
ONE fierce attack. Run away. Repeat this process. But, you'll have
to deal with more Dynamite Uruk-Hai at the same time. So, between your
attacks on the Cave Troll, take time to pick off the Dynamite Uruk-Hai
with arrows. Just don't let the Dynamite Uruk-Hai get through to you
because you can easily bite the big one here if they pile up on you.

After you get rid of the Cave Troll, shoot the rest of the Dynamite
Uruk-Hai with arrows before they get to you. If there are any archers
left, run up and swing at them with your weapon (this is the fastest
way). Then, get back to the door.

Now, your target here is the catapult itself. You must destroy it

through a line of orcs and Uruk-Hai standing in front of the catapult.
Remember, use combo attacks to defeat as many enemies as you can here.

Once you make it through the enemy line, you must attack the catapult.
There are three wooden panels:

1 on the left
1 on the right
1 in the center

You must destroy all 3 panels on the catapult in order to defeat it.

Don't worry about killing the Uruk-Hai now unless they attack you.
Just focus on breaking each panel on the catapult QUICKLY because the
door (the one you've been defending) will not hold much longer.

Note : Watch out for any portions of the ground that catch fire.

Once you destroy all three panels . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The suspension on the catapult will break, and it will drop a bomb.
The catapult will burst into a roar fiery goodness. Legolas and Gimli
will quickly dispose of the remaining Uruk-Hai. The women and children
are safe . . . for now.

you run low on arrows, you can run out into the open and pick up a few,

       you.

Soon, some shielded orcs and other enemies will start invading also,
heading straight for the door. Legolas has arrows. Use them. Try
and pick off as many enemies as you can before they get to you - no
matter what kind of enemy it is. But, if you have to use your sword,
Elrond's Deliverance (T X X T) is a good combo to use.

Note: When fighting other enemies, be sure to keep an eye out for
Dynamite Uruk-Hai coming. If any are headed your way, try and
pick them off with arrows before they get to you.

You can hit an unshielded orc with an arrow and then run up and press
the R2 button to thrust your weapon down and finish them off.

Also, if you upgraded to Dragonfire Arrows, you can set the enemies on
fire. In a large group, setting one on fire can result in a chain
reaction that sets all enemies ablaze.

Tip: Stand away from the door and pelt enemies with arrows. With
Dragonfire arrows, it will set most of them ablaze, making it
easier to defeat them. (After a while, the enemies just fall.)

be careful, more Uruk-Hai (like a sword-wielder) will come for you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The Uruk-Hai are preparing a catapult.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part III - Third Wave (Cave Troll)

If Dynamite Uruk-Hai start coming at you, try and pick them off with
throwing axes when they are close to the archers. That way, you'll
take out a good portion of the archers too.

Soon, a Cave Troll will want to play. He'll lumber on down to you.
Just wait for him to swing his club. Then, run in and hit him with
ONE fierce attack. Run away. Repeat this process. But, you'll have
to deal with more Dynamite Uruk-Hai at the same time. So, between your
attacks on the Cave Troll, take time to pick off the Dynamite Uruk-Hai
with throwing axes. Just don't let the Dynamite Uruk-Hai get through
to you because you can easily bite the big one here if they pile up on
you.

After you get rid of the Cave Troll, hurl throwing axes at the Dynamite
Uruk-Hai before they get to you. If there are any archers left, run up
and swing at them with your weapon (this is the fastest way). Then,
get back to the door.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Now, the Uruk-Hai actually wheel in the catapult and load it up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

***************
BOSS - CATAPULT
***************

Now, your target here is the catapult itself. You must destroy it
(duh). But first, you have to leave the door and fight your way
through a line of orcs and Uruk-Hai standing in front of the catapult.

Note: Watch out for any portions of the ground that catch fire.

Once you destroy all three panels . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

The suspension on the catapult will break, and it will drop a bomb.
The catapult will burst into a roar fiery goodness. Legolas and Gimli
will quickly dispose of the remaining Uruk-Hai. The women and children
are safe . . . for now.

***You have completed Mission 11***

=======================================================================
------------MISSION 12 - HELM'S DEEP 3: HORNBURG COURTYARD-------------
=======================================================================

Recommended Upgrades/Character Level:

Aragorn (level 9)
  Isildur's Judgement (T T C T)

Legolas (level 9)
Mythril Arrows (arrows upgrade penetrate everything in their path)
Elven Bow Mastery (increase strength of arrows)

Gimli (level 9)
  Bane of Saruman (S X R2)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Uruk-Hai and orcs break the barricade, storm inside the courtyard and
start causing trouble (again).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------
AS ARAGORN
----------

Part I - Orcs

You must protect a door again - the big one. A power meter, showing
the strength of the door, will appear in the upper right-hand corner
of the screen. If this depletes, you fail the mission. Stay close
to the door. Gimli will aid you.

Note: With Aragorn, you MUST use combo attacks CONSTANTLY and build
up your skill meter CONSTANTLY as well in this mission! If
you find that combo attacks are hard to pull off in this level,
you could try frantically rotating the right analog stick, as
this will make you execute many combo attacks in a row and
quickly build up your skill meter for those very handy
       "perfect" attacks.

Right away, orcs will attack you and the door. CONSTANTLY use combo
attacks to build up your skill meter fast to get “perfect” attacks.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Up on a ledge of the wall, Legolas is surrounded by Uruk-Hai. He will
call “Aragorn!” asking for help.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part II - Help Legolas

Go help Legolas. His life meter will appear in the upper right-hand
corner of the screen. If it depletes (guess what?), you fail the
mission. So, be a pal, and give the guy a hand.

You must leave the door and run across the courtyard and up the steps.
Run back to the left along the wall. Don’t worry about any enemies on
your way - the soldiers will handle them. Make your way up another
flight of steps to find Legolas. Fend off the 3 or so Uruk-Hai.

Note: There is a barrel with an experience block around Legolas.

Now, quickly run back down along the wall. Be on the lookout for
bombs that will hit the wall. Gimli shouts, “Uruk-Hai!” Don’t worry
about the enemies on the wall - just try to get back to the door.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Gimli rearranges the faces of a Uruk-Hai, slamming them with his axe.
But, some get through and start hacking away at the door.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part III - Uruk-Hai

Quickly dash back down the steps to the door, of you haven’t already.
Defend the door. A LOT of Uruk-Hai are bombarding the gates. Combo
attacks are A MUST here. Build up your skill meter again to get
“Perfect” attacks.

Soone, someone will shout: “Archers on the wall!” Now, you must run
back up the steps and shoot arrows at ALL of the archers along the
wall. (Arrows are the only way to hit them here.) The archers are
perched along the entirety of the wall - make sure you get them. Be
careful, as other enemies will attack you here. When you knock down
all of the archers, Gimli will call, “Aragorn!” summoning you back to
the door.

When you are finished with the archers, run QUICKLY down to the door.
Be on the lookout for MANY sword-wielding Uruk-Hai that are at the
door now. Again, combo attacks.

Soon . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Two Cave Trolls climb over the wall and want to play.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Part IV - Cave Troll Twins

The two Cave Trolls will head straight for the barricades. Work on
one at a time. Attack them from behind, and avoid their club swings,
if you can. Run away when they attack. Repeat this process. But,
you’ll also have to deal with the Uruk-Hai that are still attacking
you. Be on the lookout for “full life” potions that drop here. They
are your friends. Again, build up your skill meter to get “perfect”
attacks again.

When you defeat the Cave Trolls . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Well, I won’t spoil the end of the game!

Right away, orcs will attack you and the door. I don’t recommend
getting in close combat with Legolas, but if you must, CONSTANTLY use
combo attacks to build up your skill meter fast to get “perfect”
attacks. This might be hard to do, because enemies hit you.

Note: For combo attacks, you could try frantically rotating the
right analog stick, as this will make you execute many combo
attacks in a row and quickly build up your skill meter for

I recommend standing away from the door and shooting Mythril arrows at
the enemies. This will take most of them out very quickly.

Be on the lookout for MANY sword-wielding Uruk-Hai that are at the

helpful here, but Dragonfire works well too).

Note: Look for dropped health viles and arrow quivers!

************************ VIII. SECRET MISSION ***********************
***********************************************************************

=======================================================================
--------------------------- TOWER OF ORTHANC --------------------------
=======================================================================

Recommended Level/Upgrades:

Aragorn (level 10)
  ALL upgrades

Legolas (level 10)
  ALL upgrades

Gimli (level 10)
  ALL upgrades

Note: The Tower of Orthanc is divided into 20 floors. You must defeat
all enemies on a floor to advance to the next one. This mission
functions as a sort of “survival mode” where no potions or
projectiles drop. However, your life DOES recharge somewhat
after completing each floor, and you also regain 5 projectiles.

A Strategy (courtesy of AzureXVIII):

In the tower of Orthanc, just let all the enemies (except the cave
trolls) come to you, and parry like MAD. Then focus on one enemy
and just as he hits you press X then R2 quickly. You will perform
your Bane move and everyone around you will watch as the enemy
drops to the floor. Continue. Watch out for the two-axe-wielding
Orcs, as they sometimes trip you up if you parry them a lot.

A tip for Cave Trolls (courtesy of HowYouDoin1002):

You can kill Cave Trolls by charging up your weapon, holding
down triangle (T) button until it glows. And as soon as you see it
glow, release the button right next to him and it will kill him
with one blow. Careful though, you will take hits if you are
slow. But don't worry, as soon as your character begins to stand
up, hold the triangle (T) button and it will glow sooner than if
you did it as soon as he stands. This is very effective when you
have more than one Cave Troll. If you attempt to use this when
there is more than one, try to get one seperate from the others
so you don't get hammered by one while trying to kill another.

AND NOW:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Saruman comes out (with buggy eyes) and cackles, “Your end is near!”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------
AS ARAGORN
----------

Note: With Aragorn, it is easiest to run around the perimeter of the
arena, avoiding enemy attacks. That way, enemies will chase
you, but you can get to a safe distance to turn around and
attack them with Wrath of Numenor (press and hold T). This will
set any enemies you hit on fire. Then, just run around the
arena and wait for them to drop! (There is an exception to this
tip, however. Be on the lookout for the shielded orcs that jump
at you. They can reach you when you are running, so just be
sure to parry (S) their attacks.)

--------------------
Floor 1 - 5 Uruk-Hai
--------------------

Run a safe distance away, use a few arrows, or Wrath of Numenor (press
and hold T). Repeat.

-------------------------
Floor 2 - 2 Uruk-Hai
          4 Shielded Orcs
-------------------------

When running from the Shielded Orcs, they can jump in and hit you. Be
sure to parry (S). Use fierce (T) attacks or Wrath of Numenor (press
and hold T). Do this to break their shields first, then repeat the
process to defeat them when they have no shield.

--------------------
Floor 3 - 4 Orcs
          2 Uruk-Hai
--------------------

Again, run a safe distance, turn around and wait for the enemies to get
to you. Then use Wrath of Numenor (press and hold T).

-------------------------
Floor 4 - 3 Uruk-Hai
          3 Shielded Orcs
-------------------------

Use fierce (T) attacks or Wrath of Numenor (press and hold T). Do
this to break their shields first, then repeat the process to defeat
them when they have no shield.

-------------------------
Floor 5 - 3 Shielded Orcs
          3 Orcs
-------------------------

Same as Floor 4.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Saruman comes out and says: “You have elected the way of pain.” Then
he laughs and swings his scepter some more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------
Floor 6 - 7 Orc Archers
-----------------------

This is a good level to save some of your life (if you do it right, you
won’t even get hit).

Run around the arena. Arrows will come at you all at once. Just
parry (S) the arrows. Then, run to each orc archer and slash them
quickly with speed attacks.

-----------------------
Floor 7 - 4 orc archers
          2 Uruk-Hai
          2 orcs
-----------------------

I recommend running around the arena and focussing on defeating the
archers first because they can get annoying. Then, just use Wrath of
Numenor (press and hold T) for the other enemies.

-------------------------
Floor 8 - 4 shielded orcs
          4 archers
-------------------------

Same strategy as Floor 7, only remember, you’re dealing with shielded
orcs.

-------------------------
Floor 9 - 4 orc archers
          3 shielded orcs
          2 orcs
-------------------------

Again, focus on the archers first.

-----------------------------
Floor 10 - 6 Uruk-Hai
           2 Uruk-Hai archers
-----------------------------

This level can be tough if you’re not ready for it. The Uruk-Hai will
come for you. Run to the perimeter of the arena. If the Uruk-Hai
surround you, use combo attacks to knock them down. Don’t worry about
stabbing them on the ground (unless you have time), just run along the
edge. Take out the Uruk-Hai archers first, with fierce (T) attacks.
Then, with both of the archers gone, run to a safe distance and use
(guess what?) Wrath of Numenor to hit the remaining Uruk-Hai. Repeat
this process until they all go down.

Note: Because the Uruk-Hai archers use flaming arrows, some portions
of the ground can catch fire. Be careful.

------------------------
Floor 11 - 8 orc archers
------------------------

Another good floor to save life. Again, run around the arena, tagging
archers with speed (X) attacks. Parry their arrows - there will be a
lot of them.

Note: On floor 11, the walls of the tower change color to blue (I
know, it doesn’t help with strategy, but it’s just a cool little
       extra tidbit.)

------------------------
Floor 12 - 2 orc archers
           4 orcs
           2 Uruk-Hai
------------------------

Archers first. Wrath of Numenor.

------------------------
Floor 13 - 4 Uruk-Hai
           4 orc archers
------------------------

(I see a pattern.) Again, archers first. Wrath of Numenor from a safe
distance on remaining Uruk-Hai.

--------------------------
Floor 14 - 2 orc archers
           4 Uruk-Hai
           2 shielded orcs
--------------------------

See Floor 13.

------------------------
Floor 15 - 1 Cave Troll
           4 orc archers
------------------------

Now things are getting interesting. You’ve made it this far, but will
Saruman’s minions get you?

Run around the perimeter of the arena and take out the archers with
speed (X) attacks first. Dodge the club of the Cave Troll. Run in and
hit him with ONE fierce (T) attack. Get away. Repeat. This
particular Cave Troll doesn’t throw logs, so it’s all good.

Note: You can line up so the Cave Troll continuously walks into the
podium in the center of the arena. That way, he’ll be stuck and
won’t be able to get to you. So, when he takes a swing, you can
run up and get a free hit!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Saruman laughs. “Your end is near . . .” he warns.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------
Floor 16 - 2 Sword-wielding Uruk-Hai
           2 orc archers
------------------------------------

The sword-wielders run FAST. Wait for them to get off balance and then
attack. Then, attack them from behind. Stab them on the ground, if
you have to. (Take ANY opportunity to finish them off if they fall to
the ground.)

Now, work on the archers.

------------------------------------
Floor 17 - 2 Sword-wielding Uruk-Hai
           2 Uruk-Hai
           3 orc archers
------------------------------------

Again, the sword-wielders take priority, here. Finish them off, and
the rest of the enemies should be easy.

------------------------------------
Floor 18 - 1 Cave Troll
           1 Sword-wielding Uruk-Hai
           3 orc archers
------------------------------------

Save the Cave Troll for last. He hurls logs at you, so be careful.
Make sure you don’t run in a straight line, as you will get pegged by
logs.

Take care of the sword-wielder first, and get the archers out of the
way. Now, it’s just you and the Cave Troll. You can run up and hit
him ONCE with a fierce (T) attack between log throws. But beware of
his club . . .

------------------------
Floor 19 - 2 Cave Trolls
           2 orc archers
           2 orcs
------------------------

Work on the archers first, then the orcs. Last, take on the Cave
Trolls, preferably one at a time. One of the Cave Trolls throws
logs. The other doesn’t.

Note: If you get the Cave Trolls together, they can hit each other.
Try and get them to accidentally hit each other. It will make
       the floor easier.

Whenever, one of the Cave Trolls takes a swing his club, and the other
is far enough away, run up and slap the swinging cave troll with a
fierce (T) attack. It doesn’t matter which one takes a swing and
leaves himself vulnerable to attack. If you have an opening for an
attack, use it! Don’t try to take them at once, as you WILL get
flattened.

Another Method: Dispatch the dark coloured Cave Troll with arrows,
and run around the edge, away from the Troll. Then
come in and do ONE fierce attack and press L2 as you
finish it to jump back and out of the Troll's Range.
Continue. If there is more than one Troll, then they
may hit each other if they attack you and you move out
of the way. (Special Thanks to AzureXVIII for this
                 strategy.)

--------------------------
Floor 20 - 3 Cave Trolls
           2 shielded orcs
           2 orc archers
--------------------------

Whew! You made it this far, but don’t rest just yet!

Again, take out the archers first, if you can. Then, the shielded orcs
(either with fierce attacks or Wrath of Numenor). Remember to parry
the shielded orcs’ attacks.

Next, work on the Cave Trolls. See if you can get them to clump
together and accidentally hit each other before you even try to touch
them. Do this by running around the perimeter of the arena. If they
hit each other, it will save you time and energy. One Troll will go
down soon.

Now, with two of the Cave Trolls left, again, wait for one to swing,
and just run in, get a quick fierce attack in, and run away. The
Trolls might accidentally beat on each other too. But you’d have
absolutely no problem with them doing your work for you, would you?

When all enemies on Floor 20 are gone . . .

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CUTSCENE:

Well, I won’t spoil it for you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

***You have completed SECRET MISSION: TOWER OF ORTHANC***

----------
AS LEGOLAS
----------

Note: With Legolas, it is easiest to run around the perimeter of the
arena, avoiding enemy attacks. That way, enemies will chase
you, but you can get to a safe distance to turn around and
attack them using arrows (preferably Mithril Arrows). This will
set your enemies on fire. Then, just run around the arena and
wait for them to drop! (There is an exception to this tip,
however. Be on the lookout for the shielded orcs that jump
at you. They can reach you when you are running, so just be
sure to parry (S) their attacks.)

--------------------
Floor 1 - 5 Uruk-Hai
--------------------

Run a safe distance away and use a few arrows. Repeat.

Note: On Uruk-Hai, you can use Bane of Saruman to instantly kill an
attacking Uruk-Hai. To do this, when an Uruk-Hai attacks, parry
the attack using the square (S) button, then quickly press the
X and R1 buttons together. Use these if you get in a tight
       spot.

-------------------------
Floor 2 - 2 Uruk-Hai
          4 Shielded Orcs
-------------------------

When running from the Shielded Orcs, they can jump in and hit you.
Be sure to parry (S). Use fierce (T) attacks or Gil-galad’s Rage
(press and hold T). Do this to break their shields first, then repeat
the process to defeat them when they have no shield.

Note: If you have Mithril Arrows, you can shoot them into the shields.
The shield will catch on fire. Just wait and the shield will
       eventually break.

--------------------
Floor 3 - 4 Orcs
          2 Uruk-Hai
--------------------

Again, run a safe distance, turn around and wait for the enemies to get
to you. Then use your arrows to take them out.

-------------------------
Floor 4 - 3 Uruk-Hai
          3 Shielded Orcs
-------------------------

Again, use fierce (T) attacks or arrows to break the shields. If you
get knocked down, use Rising Attack (X while on ground). This will
break any shields if the orcs are close enough to you. Then, either
use arrows on the Uruk-Hai or shoot arrows at them.

-------------------------
Floor 5 - 3 Shielded Orcs
          3 Orcs
-------------------------

Same as Floor 4.

Note: Using the same combination for Bane of Saruman (S + X & R1) will
execute Orc Bane, which instantly kills attacking orcs.

CUTSCENE:

Saruman comes out and says: “You have elected the way of pain.” Then
he laughs and swings his scepter some more.

Floor 6 - 7 Orc Archers
-----------------------

This is a good level to save some of your life (if you do it right, you
won’t even get hit).

Run around the arena. Arrows will come at you all at once. Just
parry (S) the arrows. Then, run to each orc archer and slash them
quickly with fierce attacks.

Also, you could get to a good vantage point on the perimeter of the
arena and launch arrows to kill the archers quickly.

-----------------------
Floor 7 - 4 orc archers
          2 Uruk-Hai
          2 orcs

Note: With Gimli, even though he is a tank, it is effective to run

way, enemies will chase you, but you can get to a safe distance
to turn around and attack them with Wrath of Moria (press and

           3 orc archers
------------------------------------

Again, the sword-wielders take priority, here. Finish them off, and
the rest of the enemies should be easy. Use Wrath of Moria on the
other enemies once you’ve taken care of the sword-wielders.

------------------------------------
Floor 18 - 1 Cave Troll
           1 Sword-wielding Uruk-Hai
           3 orc archers
------------------------------------

Save the Cave Troll for last. He hurls logs at you, so be careful.
Make sure you don’t run in a straight line, as you will get pegged
by logs.

Take care of the sword-wielder first, and get the archers out of the
way. Now, it’s just you and the Cave Troll. You can run up and hit
him ONCE with a fierce (T) attack between log throws. But beware of
his club . . .

------------------------
Floor 19 - 2 Cave Trolls
           2 orc archers
           2 orcs
------------------------

Work on the archers first, then the orcs. Last, take on the Cave
Trolls, preferably one at a time. One of the Cave Trolls throws logs.

Don’t try to take them at once, as you WILL get
flattened.

Another Method: Dispatch the dark coloured Cave Troll with throwing
axes, and run around the edge, away from the Troll.
Then come in and do ONE fierce attack and press L2 as
you finish it to jump back and out of the Troll's
Range. Continue. If there is more than one Troll, then
they may hit each other if they attack you and you
move out of the way. (Special Thanks to AzureXVIII
                 for this strategy.)

--------------------------
Floor 20 - 3 Cave Trolls
           2 shielded orcs
           2 orc archers
--------------------------

Whew! You made it this far, but don’t rest just yet!

Again, take out the archers first, if you can. Then, the shielded orcs
(either with fierce attacks or Wrath of Moria). Remember to parry the
shielded orcs’ attacks. Sometimes, the Cave Trolls will take out the
other enemies for you!

Next, work on the Cave Trolls. See if you can get them to clump
together and accidentally hit each other before you even try to touch
them. Do this by running around the perimeter of the arena. If they
hit each other, it will save you time and energy. One Troll will go
down soon.

Note: If you get too close one of the Cave Trolls, instead of slapping
you with his club, he might decide to pick you up and fling you
       around. That’s not good.

Now, with two of the Cave Trolls left, again, wait for one to swing,
and just run in, get a quick fierce attack in, and run away. The
Trolls might accidentally beat on each other too. But you’d have
absolutely no problem with them doing your work for you, would you?

When all enemies on Floor 20 are gone . . .
