              to be discovered.

> THIS CHAPTER IS FAIRLY EASY TO START WITH, BUT GETS WORSE AND WORSE AS YOU GO
  THROUGH.
  + My weapons were at max when I started.
    - BUT they were not good enough against monsters in Floor 24: Hell Ward 3.
      + And I was never able to equip the Ridepod's best distance weapon, the Nova
        Cannon IV.
        # I was able to make it, but it wouldn't allow the exchange.

  + Move the cursor to the first 'room' marked ENTER and Press [X] to return to
    the mine entry.
  + You can use this as a shortcut whenever you want to save at the mine entrance.
    - This applies no matter where you are in the World map.

    - I am assuming you'll be needing a lot less information.
    - So it is limited to what is helpful to successfully get through each floor.

      # The Wipe-Out Goal.
      # Total number of monsters on a single walk-through of the floor.

  + I found that by spectrumizing the lesser weapons and synthesizing them to the
    following weapons, I quickly got these up to full power:

  + There are five bosses (four of them at dead ends) plus the Final Boss.

      Floors in this Walkthrough.

  + One Dead End (#3) MUST be completed in order to get the Dynamite needed to
    open the final floor.

> The Mine Molers are difficult (but not impossible) to hit with Max's gun.
  + Use his Hammer.
    - But aim carefully as they leap and damage Max.
    - They may hit you with a curse and you won't be able to equip the Spheda Club.

>  Because of the hat it wears, the 'Mallone' is named after 'Bugsy Mallone', a
   Chicago gangster from the 1920's.
  + It's a pumpkinhead with a steel barrel body.

  + WATCH MAX'S HP!!!
    - IT REALLY DOESN'T TAKE MANY HITS TO WIPE OUT HIS HP!!!
    - HE'S ON HIS OWN, SO IF INCAPACITATED, GAME IS OVER.

  + It takes, for example, 7 improved Bombs to defeat the Gamal.
    - Buy 20x each of Regular, Improved, and Final Bombs from Morton's.
  + There are so many flying critters, you need to use the Final Bombs.
    - That means you'll have to make more on the Floor.

 Bomb:
       Ideas = Candle + Pot + Weapon Shop Sign
   Materials = 1x Flame Crystal + 5x Gunpowder + 1x Wind Crystal

 Improved Bomb:
       Ideas = Candle + Coal + Egg
   Materials = 1x Bomb + 3x Flame Crystal + 3x Wind Crystal

 Final Bomb:
       Ideas = Candle + Cinders + Oven
   Materials = 10x Bomb + 7x Flame Crystal + 1x Power Crystal


> OTHER ITEMS:
  + These work fairly well and add to your arsenal of weapons:
    - Lightning Stone.
    - Wind Stone.
    - Chill Stone
    - Flame Stone.

> Weaknesses:
    Gamal ........... Chill, Lightning.
    Dark Flower ..... Flame.

  + Problem is that the Nova Cannon III takes too long to defeat the Holy Drake.
    - The Drake is firing back all the time which uses up LOTS of HP/Fuel.

  + Best Weapon is the Laser Arm IV, BUT you'll need a diamond (costs 30,000 G at
    Morton's Sundries).
    - Steve's LASER ARM IV (100 WHP):
           Ideas = Legend of the Moon (Scoop) + Energy Pipe + Blue Lantern
       Materials = 1x Diamond + 4x Holy Stone + 4x Gold Bar

    - Even with the arm:
      # Because the Bat moves, you may miss.
      # Holy Drake takes two or three shots.
        * Keep moving sideways as you shoot to avoid its breath attack.
      # Mimic takes 5 or 6 (stay away, if it leaps, it takes out about half of
        Steve's HP).
    - LOCK-ON to each monster AND be prepared to back away.

  + The second time I went onto this floor, the first critter I defeated was an
    Evil Bat.
    # Several gilda coins, a bag of gild, and a 'Bundle of Hay' dropped off the
      ceiling around the spot I was standing.
      - Just circle around to pick them up.
    # Every time I defeated a bat while on this floor, more gilda dropped and a
      couple of times, I also got 'Holy Water'.

  + I was trying to get 'Holy Stone' (from the Holy Drake) for a Resurrection
    Powder needed for Floor 18: Little Dragon Army (nasty floor):
    - So I went into this floor several times.
    - Whenever I defeated an Evil Bat, the Gilda kept falling!!
    - When I defeated two quickly, the Gilda more than doubled! 
    - But when I went into another floor, then came back to this one, the 'Pennies
      from Heaven' stopped falling.

  + Good opportunity to use the Gemron Badge Transformation, if it still needs
    upgrading.
    - The wyrms (sounds like Worms) don't fight back!
    - However they do take a LOT of Breath Attacks (about 15 shots each) to defeat.
    - The safest method is the Gemron Badge but it takes TIME.

  + Max's Supernova is better than Monica's Five-Star Armlet.
    - Because it defeats each monster more quickly.
    - But the monsters tend to cluster in threes or fours.
      # you will likely become incapacitated.
    - Max's Hammer can hit the Breath Balls back and damage the monster as long as
      he is positioned correctly.

  + Ridepod works but huge damage is done unless he keeps dodging.
    - The problem is the clusters gang up on him.

> You are unlikely to fill the Time Goal OR the Without-Healing Goal.
  + It CAN be done IF.
    - Max creeps closer to each monster JUST until the yellow diamond appears.
      # Then fire FAST.

      + Perhaps equip Nova Cannon IV BEFORE first time you equip Samurai Arm IV??
        - I can't go back to find out as I only have the one game saved.

  + It seems to be slower than previous ones.

  + If it gets poisoned from your weapon, it loses 340 HP every few moments.

  + The Ridepod's Samurai Swords IV cut through the mask.


> A single shot from the Smiling Wolf does an awful lot of damage.
  + And it takes SEVERAL shots to defeat it.
    - This gives it more time to fire back.

  + NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, YOU'RE NOT LIKELY TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE FIRST TIME.
    - I HAD TO START OVER ABOUT SIX TIME BEFORE I MADE IT THROUGH.

  + PUT THE FOLLOWING IN MAX'S AND MONICA'S ACTIVE ITEM SLOTS:
    - AN ANTI-CURSE AMULET
    - AN ANTI-PETRIFY AMULET

  + DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO TRY FOR THE RIDEPOD WIPE-OUT GOAL... 


> The real problem is that 'Busy Moler'.
  + If it gets within reach, HP (and Fuel/HP) is gone within moments.
    - You'll need a lot of healing.

  + Watch out for when the Dead Rope (Snake) dives into the floor.
    - Move before it can come up from under you.
    - If you get fairly close, it probably won't dive.


  BUT POSSIBLE STRATEGIES...

> RIDEPOD:
  + The Laser Arm IV:
    - Works but needs too many hits to defeat each monster.
    - You have to keep dodging.
  + The Samurai Arm IV defeats the monster with fewer hits.
    - But you have to get in close.
    - That Busy Moler eats Steve's Fuel/HP.
  + The Ridepod's body takes up so much of your view, it is difficult to keep
    track of the monster you are working on.
    - You HAVE to Lock-On if you're using the Laser Arm.
      # The 'automatic' transfer of the Lock will switch your attack to another
        monster usually at the worst moment.
        * This can be VERY confusing.


> MAX or MONICA:
  + Max's Gun won't hit the Busy Moler unless Max is close.
    - Which puts him in danger of being incapacitated.
    - His hammer is too difficult to control so it doesn't always take out the
      Moler when it is close.

  + Monica's Armband hits the Moler but it takes too many shots to defeat it.
   - Her sword WILL take it out if it's close.
   - Be prepared to run and dodge.
