                                Introduction [P00]
===============================================================================

Here we go again. Every section should have an item list in the order of the
walkthrough, from left to right, and new enemies in each part will be noted at
the beginning. As usual, an asterisk means missable. I won't mention any cursed
zones that only give you praise, or almost any of the tree locations. And I do
not even mention the cutscenes at all.

Of course, if all this is too wordy and you just want the sidequests, refer
to my other guide.

If my boss battle descriptions are too vague or something, you're can use the
boss battle FAQ by Ryo 0hki that's also on GameFAQs.

If anything in here doesn't make sense, or you have a correction or addition,
email me at [email protected]. You can also put it on the GameFAQs board.

===============================================================================
                         Part One: The Beginning [P01]
===============================================================================

Location: Yakushi Village and Kamiki Village

Item Checklist:
[]Spirit Ink S []Stray Bead
[]Holy Bone S []Issun M1.1
[]Spirit Ink S []Issun M1.2

New Enemies: Green Imp

Okay, so first choose a difficulty mode. In Greenhorn, your ink will
regenerate(supposedly), but in Old Hand mode, it won't. I haven't tried this
in Greenhorn mode, but this game isn't hard enough to require a switch to the
easier mode.

History Scrolls at this time: The Sun Over Nippon, The Sleeping Warrior,
Guardian Sapling, A Real Piece of Work, History Repeats Itself. The history
scrolls don't unlock anything, so don't worry if you miss one.

After the tutorial bit, follow the arrow down the bridge where you'll meet
Ayame. Open the chest nearby to get a Spirit Ink S. Follow the arrow until
you reach the part where Issun tells you about signs. Then go in the opposite
direction as the arrow to talk to Dr. Redbeard. Go into his house and up the
stairs to talk to him. In the corner beside that fireplace, there's a hidden
chest with a Holy Bone S. Head out of Yakushi Village into Shinshu Field.
Then, follow the arrow to Kamiki Village.

Go into the house with the waterwheel. A chest in there contains a Spirit Ink
S. Go into the sake house and knock down the wooden panels at the back to
find a chest with masterpiece 1, part 1. From now on, I'll just note these
parts as M1.1. Mr. and Mrs. Orange's house, with the large orange on
the front, has a chest behind some panels with a Stray Bead.

Keep following the arrow to Sakuya's tree. Trace around the dragon in one
stroke, and also around the tree afterwards. Then, go back down to the village
and inspect the stone statues, then go to Shinshu Field. Go back to Kamiki and
go up the hill and to the right to the platform. There is a chest on the
platform with M1.2. Then draw a sun, and return to the village. Beat up some
green imps and fix Mushi's Mama's scarecrow to continue.

Go to the entrance of Kamiki to find that Susano has blocked the entrance.
Talk to him. Go back a little to the area behind the origin mirror. With Kuni,
go up to the platform again and jump into the next area.

===============================================================================
        	            Part Two: Training [P02]
===============================================================================

Location: Cave of Nagi, Kamiki Village

Item Checklist:
[]Issun M1.3 []Issun M1.4
[]Spirit Ink S []Dragon Fig.

New Enemies: Death Boulder, Red Imp

This is the Cave of Nagi. Fix the bridge by tracing around the outline of the
gap, in a square shape. These monsters here are the Death Boulders. These ones
die in two hits. Keep going and press the button. Go right and open the chest
to find M1.3. Now try to walk over the cracked rock bridge. Drop Kuni off with
X and walk over Chibi to the button. Pick him up and continue to the 2nd area.

Drop Kuni off, press the button using Chibi, pick up Kuni again and continue.
Running into the cursed area means a fight. Pressing the blue button activates
the portal to area 3.

Leave Kuni, and run across the blue cracked bridge and to the right to get
the bead key for the door, avoiding the spikes. Unlock the door, ignoring
the red cracked bridges for now. Continue along to the starry river and
the penguin statue. Get the "Guidance" brush power. Grab that Spirit Ink S.
Now you can get that chest on that island connected by the red bridge.
Inside is M1.4. Use Kuni to press the button on the bigger island. Press
the blue button to get to area 4.

Guide Kuni to the button, then use Chibi to get to the next button. Guide
Kuni to the button across the new bridge, and keep going to area 5.

The chest to the right has a Dragon Fig. Examine the statue of Nagi, and
draw the flower on his sword. Get the "Power Slash" brush power. Try out
this new power on the rock to your left. Now go down to the cursed area.
For Red Imps, hit it until it's knocked out, then slash its top to destroy it.
In order to get 1 demon bone, which are materials for upgrading weapons, use
a power slash as the last hit after the imp's HP is 0. Jump through the circle
to return to Kamiki.

Go down the hill from the platform. Slash the lanterns. If you can't do that,
you've got a problem which I'm not going to tell you how to fix. Anyway,
go down into the village and go into Kushi's sake house. Fix the barrel in
there with your new power. Go talk to Susano at the entrance to Kamiki, then
go to his house's basement. Slash the twinkling sake and deliver it to Susano.
Try to slash the boulder, then slash the boulder in the same place as Kuni
to finally cut it. Go out into Shinshu Field.

===============================================================================
                      Part Three: Sun's Reflection [P03]
===============================================================================

Item Checklist:
[]Holy Icon 1 []Enamel []Red Clay
[]Stray Bead []Issun M1.5 []Issun M1.7
[]Ammy Toy []Issun M1.6 []Penguin Fig.
[]Potter Wheel []White Clay []Black Clay

New Enemies: Red Toad, Bone Clam

See that rock which is sort of flat topped? Watch out for these, you can slash
them, and it might reveal a hole. Inside is Holy Icon 1, which is for a
manifest you get later. Go over to the house, where you'll find the Nameless
Man. Talk to him to get the Nameless Man's Pottery manifest. The chest in here
has a Stray Bead. Go over to the entrance to Hana Valley and fix the lever.
Go back and talk to the Nameless Man again.

In Hana Valley, slash the rock, jump on it and open the chest to find an Ammy
Toy. Go to the right and make a U turn, slashing the rocks to reach a chest
with the Potter Wheel in it. You'll also encounter the Red Toads. Continue to
area 2.

Examine the wall, fix it, and draw a sun in the upper right corner. Continue
to area 3. Get the Enamel in the chest on the nearest island. The second island
has M1.5. At the end, press the button to open the door to area 4.

Go across the logs to the north to find a chest with M1.6. Then slash the rock.
Turn to the right to find two slashable rocks. Continue down this path to find
a chest with White Clay. Step on the button, then guide Kuni to the other
button. Step on the blue button to get to area 5.

Slash the rock on the right side, then guide Kuni to the chest to get the
Red Clay. On the left side, slash the rock and get M1.7. Slash the rock with
the scroll on it. Fight a bone clam to go to area 6. In this area, slash
the rocks and go to the upper right to area 7.

While Kuni moves to the button on the red cracked bridge, use Chibi to press
the buttons to stop the water. Get the "Bloom" brush power. Fight in the
cursed area. You can get 1 demon bone from a bone clam by knocking it out,
then blooming it to open it up. Beat it up until there's a little HP left,
then use power slash as the final blow.

Go back to the last area and bloom all the trees. Fight in the cursed area,
then go to area 8. Bloom the lily bud to create a path. Go to the left and
press the button to lower the water. Leave Kuni to weigh down the button and
press the button on the lower level. Go through the door to get to area 9.

Slash the rock columns to create bridges. Then fix the last one before
knocking it over. Bloom the bud at the end, then backtrack and bloom
the other buds on the way back to the last room. Push the orb to the
indentation near the middle of the room. Then go down. The chest here
has a Penguin Fig. Try to bloom the sapling. Examine the sapling so you
can draw the sun. Try to bloom the sapling again. Fight. Jump down there!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------
Boss: Master Anura
------------------

Beat him up until he jumps out of the water. Then slash his bellybutton
to get him to cough up the fruit. Guide Kuni to the glowing circle. Either
slash the toad's tongue or hit him to prevent him from hurting Kuni. Hit
him again until he jumps out of the water, then slash his belly button again.
The third time, bloom the shell and then slash the bellybutton.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, the blooming will work. On the way back, you can now clear that cursed
zone from earlier. The chest here has the Black Clay, the last item on the
manifest. Return to the girl. You have to fix the mirror and bloom Sakuya's
tree. Go to Shinshu Field.

===============================================================================
                            Part Four: Fireworks [P04]
===============================================================================

Location: Shinshu Field, Yakushi Village

Item Checklist:
[]Issun M1.8 []Spirit Ink S []Gunpowder []Boar Fig. []Divine Sake
[]Holy Icon 2 []Holy Icon 7 []Fuse []Fist Sake
[]Holy Icon 3 []Issun M1.10 []Firework []Soul Sake
[]Holy Icon 5 []Holy Icon 6 []Pipe []Bear Carving

New Enemies: Yellow Imp

The scrolls here will try to catch you, but you can slash them to stall them
while you run away if you don't feel like fighting them. Later on, you can
get a trinket that will stop them from chasing you.

Bloom the Guardian Sapling. The chest nearby has M1.8. Then go hand in the
manifest to the Nameless Man. Go across the river. To the left is a slashable
rock. The chest down there has Holy Icon 2. There's a cursed zone nearby.
Bloom it to get Holy Icon 3. Go to where the SOS is. This is Tama's house.
Bloom the cursed zone to the left to get Holy Icon 5. Nearby, down a ramp,
there's a chest with a Spirit Ink S. Go talk to Tama. The ramp now has a
cursed area with a yellow imp. Slash the imp to get it to fall down,
then stun it with the skulls it's shooting at you.

You can explore a bit more at this time before going to Yakushi. First, go
across the bridge and turn left and go down to the shrine area. Once at the
end of the ramp, turn right, make a u turn, and slash the rock at the end of
the path to find Holy Icon 7. Go in the shrine. The chest to the left has
M1.10. Talk to Mika to get his manifest "Holy Icons". Leave, and go to the
end of the long path out to the Moon Cave. Blooming the cursed area at the
end shows a chest with Holy Icon 6.

Return to Yakushi Village and go up to Dr. Redbeard's house. Clear out his
house, then draw the sun. Talk to him again, then deliver the medicine to
Tama. Once you have Tama's Manifest "Tama's Fireworks", go outside. You will
meet the Lost Girl near the bridge, and automatically send her to Yakushi.
The locations of the scrolls are outside Tama's house, across the river from
the Nameless Man's house, and near the Kamiki Village and Agata Forest
entrances. Return to Yakushi Village, where Ayame is.

Get the "Cherry Bomb" brush power. The chest in here has a Boar Fig. There
are a few bombable walls in Yakushi. If you go north from this area, behind
the next wall is a Fist Sake. If you continue to the north end of the village,
behind the waterfall's bombable wall is a Soul Sake. You can also go talk to
the Lost Girl on the lower level, past the origin mirror. The blacksmith on
the upper level is also open, though at this time you can only get a Purity
Reflector for 10 demon bones. The inn has a hidden chest to the right of the
stairs with a Bear Carving. On your way out of Yakushi, bomb the wall to get
a Divine Sake.

===============================================================================
                          Part Five: Exploration [P05]
===============================================================================

Location: Shinshu Field

Item Checklist:
[]Holy Icon 4 []Exorcism []History Scroll 1
[]Issun M1.9 []Issun M2.1
[]Lucky Coin []Bear Carving
[]Ammy Toy []Issun M2.2

I think that in Kamiki Village, you can help Mrs. Orange with her laundry
for some praise. There's also a monkey in Hana Valley to invite. Now that you
have Cherry Bomb, it's time to bomb all the walls in Shinshu Field. Across the
river, there's a bombable wall behind the Guardian Sapling. Inside is a chest
with Holy Icon 4. Next to Tama's house is another one. It has M1.9. You should
have all of them by now, and should get a Revenge Slip. While passing the
Moon Cave, drop off Mika's Holy Icons.

By the way, you can Cherry Bomb the Yellow Imp to get 2 demon bones. If you
go past the moon cave, there's the entrance to Agata Forest, and you meet a
crane. Kuni will force you to heal it and a girl can be found in Yakushi
on the lower level, in the house next to the Lost Girl. Do not go upstairs,
or you get a stray bead instead of a lucky coin, which will be used to unlock
more weapons. Instead, go to Shinshu Field and then return to the house to
get the lucky coin. In the new room with the monkey on the 2nd floor of
the inn behind the panelling is an Exorcism slip.

Okay, let's go back to the story. Go back to the entrance to Agata Forest.
There's a bombable wall on the side, so bomb that and go up. Bombing this
wall reveals a chest with an Ammy Toy. Run behind the chest and to the right
to reach a chest with M2.1. Continue on until you reach Agata Forest.

Talk to Karude to get the Karude's Fishing Equipment Manifest. This one has
stuff in three separate areas, two of which are missable, so be careful.
Go over to the right to get to the Guardian Sapling. Along the way to it,
there's a chest with a Bear Carving. Also, next to the sapling itself,
there's M2.2. So examine the tree, then bloom it.

Go back out to the main area and take the left path. You'll reach the roof of
a pagoda. Around the back is a chest with History Scroll 1 in it. This one is
titled "The Spider Queen". Collecting these don't unlock anything. Keep going
on, and you'll see a bead to open the door to the pagoda. You can't get it now,
so travel the other path. Go down to the lakefront to meet Kokari. Then go to
the upper part of this area, meeting Nanami along the way.

===============================================================================
                         Part Six: Demon Disguises [P06]
===============================================================================

Location: Agata Forest, Demon Market

Item Checklist:

[]Line []Issun M2.4
[]Issun M2.3 []Float

New enemies: Fire Eye, Red Wildfire

The sign to this area reads Hitoshio Spring. The cursed area to the right of
the hut has the Line. Talk to Madame Fawn in her hut and pay 500 yen to figure
out how to continue. She also gives you a white cloth. Once you go outside, you
automatically see the blue fairies. Draw a star to open the portal to the
Demon Market.

To the right of the entrance is an area with a rock to slash. Jump over there
to get M2.3. Talk to the blue fairy guard, then go back to the red flame
closest to the entrance. Talk to the blue fairy guard again, then go past him.
The chest under the flower is for later on. Bomb the wall in the next tunnel
to get M2.4. Continue to area 2.

To the right of the gate up the stairs, examine the area to fill it in. In
the chest is the Float. Go up the stairs and talk to the blue guard. The three
passwords are a tree next to the shop, the billboard to the right in area 1,
and a horned statue next to where M2.3 was. Then go back to the fairy guard
and submit 1. Demon Market 2. A fool never changes and 3. The Witch Queen
passes.

Fight the Green Paddlers, Hot Riders, Macho Air Raid Brothers, Green and
Yellow Bombardiers, and Boss Hot Rider. The last one is a Red Eye, so
just wait until it's not flaming before hitting it, or you'll catch on fire.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------
Boss: Witch Queen
------------------

First, dodge and attack her back. Eventually, she'll activate some buttons.
Red Wildfire will appear and she can suck them in to heal herself. To stop
her, just power slash them before she can suck them in, alternating this
with hitting her from behind. From the front also works for a little.

Alternatively, you could also leave Kuni on the button. Then you could kill
the Red Wildfire, and there wouldn't be a problem. If she destroys the area
around the button, fill it in with Rejuvenation.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keep killing the Red Wildfires for a while. Then run back to the entrance.

===============================================================================
                         Part Seven: Pagoda Diving [P07]
===============================================================================

Location: Agata Forest, 5-Story Pagoda

Item Checklist(all missable):

[]Pole []Issun M2.5 []Snake Fig.
[]Lure []Monkey Fig. []Spirit Ink S
[]Buddha Carv. []Lucky Coin
[]Sinker []Issun M2.6

New Enemies: White Toad, Flame Boulder, Ice Lips, Pot Fox*, Snake Sash

Once in Agata Forest again, you can pick up some other fishing equipment.
There's a bombable wall if you keep going past Kokari, with a chest with
the Pole. Go back to that glowing bead in the water. Use Nanami to get it.

If you feel like it, you can go back to Kamiki Village and talk to people with
Nanami. It's mostly comments about Nanami being a mermaid. People in Yakushi
don't seem to have different comments.

Anyway, in Agata, go to the pagoda and open the door.

Fifth Floor [P07.1]
--------------------

Get the "Waterspout" brush power. Put out the torch to lower the spikes.
In the next room, slash the white toad, then press the button. Put out the
torches again. Get the Lure in a chest in the lower left. At the next sign,
fill the empty hole with water. Examine the next torch to learn that Nanami
is a water source. In this next cursed area you fight some Fire Eyes. Now
that you have Waterspout, you can use it to get 3 demon bones. And you get
a Left Arm. Go down to the fourth floor.

Fourth Floor [P07.2]
---------------------

Press the button, then fill the spike filled hole with water. Press the button.
Next, go to the left and bomb the block to let the water flow. Fill the hole to
the right with water and press the button. In the next area, the flaming chest
to the left has a Buddha Carv. Fight some white toads and Flaming Boulders. It
might be easiest to just use waterspout on the flaming boulders.

Run past the flames, and then get to the chest on the left with another Left
Arm. It'll take four times, halfway, then to the chest, and back. On the right
is the button to lower the spikes. Go upstairs to the fifth floor to get the
Sinker and M2.5. Run into the cursed area, encountering an Ice Lips and a Fire
Eye. Then go down to the third floor.

Third Floor [P07.3]
--------------------

Destroy the Pot Foxes along the way, then get the bead key from the chest.
Open the door, and put out the torches along the way (3). Bomb the pot, then
get the "Vine" brush power. The chest here has a Monkey Fig. In the next room,
swing to the other side of the room using vine on the flowers.

In the next room, for the blue button, you have to use Nanami, then vine over
to her so you can both press the button. The next button is around a corner,
so use guidance a few times. The cursed chest is protected by a Snake Sash.
Knock its swords back at it to knock it out, or hit it as it's coming up from
the ground. Inside the chest is the last Left Arm. To the right, there's a
doorway. At the end is a chest with a Lucky Coin. Attach the last arm, and the
chest that's revealed has the Tsumugari. Go down to the second floor.

Second Floor [P07.4]
---------------------

Have Nanami swim, then vine over the gaps. Put out all five torches to unlock
the door. In the next room, jump over both gaps. The flaming chest has
M2.6. For the two buttons, use Nanami to swim to one, then vine to her.
Then have her press the other button.

After passing even more flames; which you might have to use waterspout on
to get past, and spikes; go down to the first floor. Bomb the floor to
release a spring. If you run to the left, there's a room with a chest
with a Snake Fig. The actual point of no return is in the middle of the
next room, but this is a good place to make sure you've got everything.

Bomb the wooden blocks, then bomb the next set of blocks. Jump down and
guide Nanami farther down the flooded room. Jump down and go in the
door next to the rotating spikes. Continue up and to the right, then
press the button. Guide Nanami to the button.

POINT OF NO RETURN IS THE NEXT JUMP DOWN.

Continue to the rightmost door. Go past the flames and press the button.
Before taking the stairs down, go up and connect both hooks. The chest has
a bead key.

First Floor [P07.5]
--------------------

Now go down. Open the door, then connect the hook to the rock's hook on
the left side. Go down again. Go in the door. The chest has a Spirit Ink S.
Press the button to open a path. Guide Nanami to Chibi.

Now go back to the previous room and press that blue button. Examine the
statue and draw in the face, just the lines. Fight a Fire Eye and an
Ice Lips to open the door. This is the savepoint right before the boss.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------
Boss: Bullhead
---------------

Attacks:
Bullhead tries to slam into Chibi with its mouth.
Bullhead slides across the island and tries to hit Chibi.
Bullhead charges up electricity and fires a ball of electricity.

When it rushes Chibi with its mouth open, connect the hook inside to the
flower. Then slash it (which knocks it out) and hit it. It will try to flatten
you when it's had enough punishment, so when you see the shadow, dodge. You
can also hit its body when it's swimming around the island to get some health
and inkpot refills. When it swims away, have Nanami swim over to the next
island and vine to her. If the boss tries to slam into her, slash it. Then
it's the same thing; connect the hook to the flower with vine, slash it, hit
it, dodge; until it's dead. If it's charging electricity, slash it to knock it
out, then vine it to the flower.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's a slashing minigame after this.

The scrolls here have two new enemies, a Demon Nut and a Blue Imp. For the
demon nut, knock it out, bloom it and put a bomb in its mouth. This has the
secondary effect of also automatically getting a demon skin. For the Blue Imp,
bomb it when it pops out of a hole, or slash it while it's flying. You can get
two demon bones if you power slash it after HP is 0. Also, Bone Clams now spit
out a water crystal when you use bloom on it, for use on the Fire Eye.

Go up to the path above the beach, and go out to the platform. Bloom the flower
and reach the chest with a Spirit Ink S. Go back to the path and turn right.
Past the origin mirror, there's a chest with M2.7. Go to the next area, passing
the shrine on your left.

There's a chest at the end of the short right path with a Seashell. Go down the
longer left path. There's a left path with a bombable area at the end. Down the
hole is a chest with a Boar Fig. Go into the next area. The point here is to
fill the empty pools with water consecutively, all the way to the Guardian
Sapling. By the second pool are the Beads for a manifest. Go up and go near
the tree to bloom it. Go back out into the main area of S. Ryoshima Coast.

Go up the stairs into the shrine, and bomb the wall to the left. The chest in
there has M2.8. Come back for the pile of leaves later. The chest on the right
side has a Spirit Ink S. Continuing along the coast, there's a bombable wall
on the right. A chest inside has a Divine Sake. To the right of the ramp up
to the pier is a Prayer Slip. The chest at the end of the pier has M2.9.

To the right of the gate, you can recruit the Pheasant, because Chibi can talk
to animals. There are other people here to recruit, but because they're people,
you need a partner to recruit them. There is also a chest in the cursed zone to
the right with an Ammy Toy. Now go through the gate into the city.

Item Checklist:

[]Funny Mask []Issun M3.1
[]Scroll []History Scroll 2
[]Kabuki Doll []Rodent Fig.

Go to the right, and at the end is a chest with a Funny Mask. Turn left
immediately and go down the stairs to get a Scroll. To the left of the shop
is a Kabuki Doll. Go to the northern part of this area, and gain a new partner,
Kagura (Kagu in the English version). To the left, there is a flaming chest.
Put it out to get M3.1. To the right, next to a restaurant, is a chest with
History Scroll 2. This one is titled "Canine Warriors".

Go back to the last area. Then go out to S. Ryoshima Coast. On the beach is
the Retired Fisher. If you talk to the priest again, you can now get the
manifest "Priestess Rao's Treasures". By this point, you already have three
of them. Go to the path to the Guardian Sapling, then invite the Old Woman to
Yakushi. Now you can invite the boy on the pier to Yakushi as well.

Well, if you need to go back to Yakushi, there is a guy named Jin (originally
Jinsoku, which means fast) in the shops who will take you back to Yakushi and
only there. What you could do is get the Rodent Fig. that's accessible by vine.
And collect praise from the boy and the old woman. The two Lucky Coins you have
will unlock at least the 1st glaive upgrade. Return to Sei'an. Go to the left
side of town. Go near the back of the playhouse. Examine the door and fix it.
Enter the playhouse.

New Enemies: Stone Dragon, Phantom Shears

Go to the right. Go up into the next room. Here you save the first stagehand.
You both go down to the next floor. Go to the left.

Lower the bridge by pressing one button with Kagura and one with Chibi. The
yellow tiles can support both Chibi and Kagura. Hit the switch, then use the
conveyor belt to jump onto the next ledge. Press the blue button. Go up. Press
the left button and lead Kagura to the second red tile. Then go to the right
button and lead Kagura to the next button. Kill the Stone Dragon by power
slashing its red flame back at it. Vine Chibi to Kagura, then have Kagura get
on so you can see where the tiles are. Start guiding her to the opposite side,
the left platform's button, and also step on the left button and then the right
button to stop the flames.

Guide Kagura across the bridge to the right platform's button. Then vine over
to her and pick up M3.3. Go up and jump on the rotating platforms, in the same
direction as it's spinning, to the bottom left one. The chest has a Kabuki
Doll. Jump over to the right and fight another possessed stagehand. In the
next room, start guiding Kagura over to the chest to the right. When the
Phantom Shears attacks, slash it. The chest has an Ammy Toy.

Step on the right button, then guide Kagura near the second conveyor belt.
Step on the left button and guide her to the next button. Vine over to her.
While continuing to step on the button, guide her to the next one, past the
flames. In the next part, guide her near the second conveyor belt. Then hit
the switch to reverse the direction and guide her to the next stagehand.

Help that guy, then press the button in the next area. Hit the switch.
Go over to the conveyor belt and jump to the bottom part. There are some
Red Wildfire around too. Go to the end of this path and into the next area,
then up. Guide her near the second belt, then hit the switch, then guide her
to the button. Vine over there. Leave her on the button and jump to the next
button to turn off the fire. The next chest has a Funny Mask.

Guide her to the opposite side, cutting down the shears as they attack. Even
if you can't see the tiles, she won't go where there aren't any tiles, so you
can make your way over eventually. Confront the next stagehand. Take the long
path to the end, then go to the next area. Step on the blue button. Then
examine the statue to get the Inferno brush power. The chest nearby has
Lacquerware.

Go back to the last room and melt the ice surrounding the button. Pressing
the button lowers the bridge. Go back to the main wheel gear room. On the
first floor, go to the right and melt the ice to access the second floor.

Item Checklist:

[]Rooster Fig.
[]Issun M3.4
[]Lucky Coin

You'll notice in this battle that the Demon Nuts spit out a fire crystal when
bloomed. This will be used with the Ice Lips, though by now you should be able
to buy Fireburst in Yakushi Village, if you have invited at least 5 people or
animals to Yakushi. Now that you do have Inferno, you can use it on Ice Lips
to get 1 demon skin.

Melt the chest in the middle to get a Rooster Fig. Go in the top room to clear
a toilet spirit. Go in the right side room to get M3.4. Then help the prop
spirit. Then go to the bottom room for a fight. Talk to the actor on the left.
The chest on the other side of the stairs has a Lucky Coin. Go down to the
first floor, and go back to the stage.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------
Boss: Sen, Ryo and Renjishi
----------------------------

It is possible the points change position and order, but these were the
ones I got for my playthrough.

Part 1:

Dodge the tornados, and slash the gears. You can also hit it from the front.
When it's knocked out, make note of the order the points appear. Then connect
the dots in that order.

Part 2:

Same as before, except now there is also a net to dodge. After knocking it
out, melt all the ice at once by drawing a line from the fire that touches
all the ice. Then connect the dots again, starting from the upper right,
lower right, lower left, upper left, upper right.

Knock it out, and then it will start trying to slam you. Put a bomb where
its hand will slam so it gets knocked out again, or put a bomb after its
hand is already on the floor. Pick up Kagura by running up its arm. While
it's still knocked out, hit it some more. The order is left, middle, right,
up, left.

Part 3:

Rescue Kagura, then knock it out. Using the same technique as with the ice,
exorcise the points by drawing a line from Kagura to them, then connect the
points in this order: upper right, lower right, lower left, upper left,
middle, upper right.

Rescue Kagura again, exorcise, connect in this order:
top, upper right, lower right, lower left, upper left, top.

Then bloom Sen, Ryo and Renjishi for the finish.

Item Checklist:

[]Lacquerware []Divine Sake M
[]Issun M3.2 []Gold Pot
[]Issun M2.10

Now you can go out the front door. Go near where you first met Kagura to find
Miko Cho. Turn to your right and exorcise the restaurant. Then go to the west
side of town to Mr. Chic's house to exorcise it. The chest on the left in Mr.
Chic's house has Lacquerware, and the one on the right has M3.2. While you're
on this side, look for a stair nearby with a frozen chest on it. Inside is
M2.10. This should complete the set, giving you a Peace Bell.

Head over to the east side, and exorcise the house at the end, Mr. Flower's
house. You can help Mr. Flower afterwards by blooming all the trees in this
area. The three tricky ones are the one on his head, in his house and on the
right side of the house across from the one with the blue mushroom. The other
ones should be fairly obvious. There are 11 on the east side, 7 in the middle
area, and 3 on the west side.

Near this area, next to a wall, should be the Sake Brewer. If you go back to
Yakushi you can get a Divine Sake M on the first floor and a Gold Pot on the
second floor of the new sake brewery next to the inn. You can also talk to
the Sake Brewer to get the manifest "Brewer's Ingredients". At the moment,
you can't do this one, though.

there is a chest to the right of the entrance with an Ammy Toy.

In the house to the right, the left chest has a Holy Arrow, the right chest
has a Dog Fig, the right chest behind a curtain has Lacquerware, and the left
chest behind a curtain has M4.3. Go to the large bridge in the middle and
cross it to the palace area.

N. Ryoshima Coast. Bomb the wall on the right of the path, then melt the ice
using the Red Wildfire to reach a chest with the Wooden Block. You could go

Go up and to the right. Bomb the wall here to reach a chest with an Inkfinity
Stone. Go up to the shrine. Slash the rock behind the shrine to get M4.4. Go
down and approach the cursed digger. After the battle, go to the next digger.
After that, bomb the wall on the right. The flaming chest has M3.5. You can't
unlock the lightning chest yet, though you can kill the Spark Boulder for the
list. Now go to the next digger. Guide Kurou and float him over to the ruins.

Well, you get five History Scrolls, but they'll be unnumbered here because
they're automatic. They are "City of Darkness", "Nine Tails", "The Frozen
Land", "Separate Paths", and "Peace at Last!".

New Enemies: Thunder Ear, Black Imp, Spark Boulder, Flow Dragon, Gashadokuro

Basement 1 [P10.3]
------------------

Item Checklist:

[]Journal 1/8
[]Issun M3.6

Float Kurou over the gap, then run up. Slash the orbs back at the stone
dragons, then use Chibi by himself to press the button. For that room to the
right of this, you can't get it yet. Go down past the newly unlocked door and
touch the cursed chest.

This a Thunder Ear. You don't have the appropriate technique to take advantage
of this one's weakness, to you'll have to wait until it is not surrounded by
electricity, while dodging lightning. If it's up in the cloud, you can slash
it to get it down. Inside the chest is a Bead Key. Go to the door on the left
side of the entrance to unlock it.

Go through and kill the stone dragons to open the door. Kill the next one to
turn off the electric fence. Guide Kurou to the button and kill the stone
dragon when it attacks. This opens the next door. The cursed area here has a
Black Imp. The technique here is to hit its body parts back at it to knock it
out.

The cursed area across the gap has a chest with Journal 1/8. Go over the
bridge, and kill the stone dragon to unlock the door. Kill the stone dragons
along the way, and the cursed chest on the other side of the room has M3.6.
Go downstairs.

Basement 2 [P10.4]
------------------

Item Checklist:

[]Blue Relic
[]Journal 2/8
[]Journal 3/8

Go to the right, and run in the same direction as the rotating electric lasers.
Press the button on the right side after killing the Flow Dragon, by slashing
two orbs back at it. Press the button on the left side to extend a bridge. At
the end of that path, after the battle, put Chibi on the red button, then guide
Kurou to the next button, killing the flow dragon along the way.

In the caves, go to the right to find a chest with a Blue Relic. Turn around
and find a cursed area and a chest with Journal 2/8. Then go down the left
path, then the right path to find a cursed area with Journal 3/8. Then go
back and take the left path to the next area.

Fix the black slab on the right to open the door. Here, go to the right and
up to the statue. Get the "Magnetism" brush power. Draw a U to turn off the
electricity. Remember, U to attract, the upside down U to repel. Go downstairs.

Basement 3 [P10.5]
-------------------

Item Checklist:

[]Journal 5/8 []Exorcism T
[]Red Relic []Holy Arrow T

Kill the flow dragon and then open the door with magnetism. Then go to the
left until you see the metal balls. Keep going to the left and down to find
another metal ball. Roll the ball near the closer metal ball. Then use
magnetism to repel the two balls. Then, repel the balls again to press the
button. Go up through the new door.

Go to the farther room and press the blue button with both of you. Then use
repel in the closer room to press both buttons at the same time. Use vine to
replicate this pattern for the hooks in the previous room, on the right side.
It looks like two X's and a line between them. So, top left to middle right,
top right to middle left, middle left to middle right, middle right to bottom
left, and middle left to bottom right. Then cancel and activate it.

Now you can use magnetism on black imps. Sometimes, they will show a U on them,
and you can also use it as a finisher to get two demon skins. In the next area,
take the left path, slash the first rock and bloom the cursed zone. The chest
has Journal 5/8. Go back to the beginning and take the right path to the end.
Bomb the wall.

Let's see, this one is Gashadokuro. You have to crack open its ribs, then
attack its core. Dodge its attempts to slam you and slash its red orbs back
at it to knock it out. Bombing its core is the finisher, and you can get four
demon skins. Getting the parts is much easier if you knock it out first, then
kill it, then bomb it. Now collect the wings. Get the Red Relic on a nearby
platform. And then go upstairs. Then downstairs again.

The chest on the left has Exorcism T. The chest on the left had Holy Arrow T.
Leave the ruins.

Go to the Guardian Sapling area and talk to the Forest Woman to invite her.
Bloom the bud. The cursed area has a chest with a Crystal. Guide Kurou to the
cracked area. Jump down the hole to find M3.7. Use Kurou to get the chest
on the island with the tree to get a Slip. Then go along the beach to
reach Madame Fawn's cave. Inside, invite the Tanuki to Yakushi. The chest
here has a Bear Carving.

Now that you can, go back to Shinshu Field. Talk to the Old Woman here to
invite her. Then go behind the dojo, slash the rock, and melt the chest to
get M5.2. Go back to Yakushi Village. Pick up M5.1 across the new bridge.
There are two sidequests you can do right now.

First go to the area on the upper level, on the northwestern side. Talk to
the man here and pay him 10,000 yen. Then go to the lower level, to the Lost
Girl's house, then to Dr. Redbeard's house to find him. Once you get out of
Dr. Redbeard's house, go to the right and take the bridge to find the tanuki
for the final time to get Lucky Cat Paw, and your money back. If you already
have this trinket, you instead get another stray bead.

The second quest involves the Retired Fisher and the Forest Woman. They're
both on the upper level, directly above the tunnel leading into the main area
of Yakushi. Talk to the woman, the man and then the woman again. Then leave
Yakushi Village. The initial tunnel with the flower in it is part of Yakushi,
so you have to go farther than that. Return to them and talk to both of them.
Then leave again, and when you come back, the chief tells you that they're
behind the waterfall. Go there and talk to them. Then, you can leave and come
back again, and the house on the cliff will be there. Go to the northern part
of the upper level. Vine to the house. You can talk to them, and you can now
reach the bombable wall. In the chest is a Gold Pot.

Go to Hana Valley.

telling equipment. You already have the crystal and the slip, so find the bone
and the odd necklace, from two battles from scrolls that are marked on the map.

on the imp with the wings to get 2 demon skins. Use Kurou to get History Scroll
4 in an area to the right, titled "Crimson Helm". Also, above the item shop
is a flower. On top of the stall nearby is a chest with W. Queen Pipe.

Now talk to the blue fairy guard at the top of the stairs. Get the Galestorm
brush power. Now for a really annoying side scroller chase.

Running Away from the Witch Queen
----------------------------------

Stage 1:

Jump the fences, slash the rocks, and dodge those knives. You can't jump over
the three sticks tied together so well, so just avoid those. When she starts
trying to get you with the knives, stay on one side so she misses.

Stage 2:

You have two options. Jump to the higher level and dodge knives, or stay on
the bottom, dodge or slash rocks and jump over gaps. Dodging knives is easier,
so watch out on the bottom map for when the path splits.

the next one spinning by drawing a spiral. Go down the lit up path.

Exorcise the hook gate. This battle has a Snake Sash, and now that you have
Thunderstorm, you can finish off the Snake Sash to get 1 demon skin. Go to the

If King Fury is charging electricity, use Galestorm. Or try to dodge it.

Go up the leg, then vine to the other leg. Keep going up. Go into the entrance,
then go all the way around instead of going into the robot to find an Inkfinity
S. Go into the portal. The first chest has Holy Bone L. The second chest has
Spirit Ink L. The third chest has Divine Sake L. Go to the exterior of the
robot and climb on its shoulder. Vine up, then go up to the head area.

----------------
Boss: King Fury
----------------

Leave Kurou at the controls. If King Fury is charging electricity, use
Galestorm. If it's going to charge Kurou, bomb it. When King Fury rises in the
air, use Kurou to suck the darkness out of him. In the next part, slash the
slips back at King Fury. When King Fury rises up in the air again, chase King
Fury with Kurou. Then, King Fury will split into two. You will know which one
is the real one when the health bar decreases. Then chase him with Kurou again.

Then cleanse Sugawara by slashing his headdress. Then bloom him.

upper right house. The two chests behind curtains have a Buddha Carv. and an
Inkstone. The chest on the left has a Silver Watch and the right has Exorcism.

Go to the upper right and blow away the leaves to get M5.3. Then warp to S.
Ryoshima Coast, and talk to the old man on the path to the Guardian Sapling.
Also go into the hole to the right of the top of the shrine to find M4.2 under
the leaves. Warp to Agata Forest. Leave Madame Fawn's cave and go to the left,
and bomb the wall. Vine to the far island. Use the nearby Gargoyles to zap the
chest to get M5.4.

Leave the cave, and go up to the spring area. Blow away the leaves on the right
to get M4.5. There's another dandelion on the level above Madame Fawn's Cave.
Go to Karude's hut to hand in the Fishing Equipment. There's another dandelion
behind the Guardian Sapling. Go to Shinshu Field. Go to Tama's house to invite
the puppy (and no, you can't refuse). Go to the bombed wall and go in to find
M4.1. Go to the area just outside Kamiki and talk to the boar to invite him.

Go into Yakushi Village. Go up to the inn, go to the hot spring to talk to the
old man, and also talk to Momotaro in the other room with all the animals to
get the "Momotaro's Treats" manifest. You can talk to the aristocrat twice for
praise, though you have to leave Yakushi to get the praise the second time, and
also talk to the boar who is in the same area on the northern area of the upper
level. Also, you can buy the upgrades Splash for 30,000 yen and Whirlwind and
Thunderbolt for 50,000 yen.

Now go deliver the medicine to Ayame. Then do some more sidequests for praise.

Grimm Sidequest:
submitted by zean

1. Leave Yakushi and go talk to him in the hot spring area.
2. Leave Yakushi, come back and talk to him. Do that again.
3. He will ask to talk to Chibi alone, so drop off your partner and talk
   to him again.
4. Leave, and go to then go to the bombable wall that's before the bridge
to the bombable wall behind the waterfall and talk to Grimm and
   Ayame there.

In Shinshu Field, find the three dango by defeating scrolls. They are behind
the Guardian Sapling, near Tama's house and near the Moon Cave. Then hand
it in to Momotaro. Remember to talk to everyone in Yakushi that was invited
to get more praise. You can also play the rhythm game from the Thundercloud
again to get more praise from the Thunder Lady on the upper level where
Ayame goes to watch the fireworks.

Momotaro's Adventure:
submitted by silktail

1. After you give him the dango, you can leave the room and then return
to see he's given them the dango. Talk to the animals.
2. Leave and come back and talk to the puppy.
3. Leave and come back to talk to them for praise.

Somewhere in this area, you probably reached the full amount of inkpots and
health. According to godsoldier713, you can probably do it after the part
with Ayame, and doing at least the Thunder Lady rhythm minigame. It doesn't
really matter too much because it is really easy to max the praise in this
game.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now go back to Sei'an: Commoners' Quarter. Then go to the west side and zap
the guy to wake him up. Then go the Aristocratic Quarter. Then go to Gen's
tower and vine up. The chest at the top has an Inkstone.

Go back to N. Ryoshima Coast and talk to Kurou. If you want to wander around
some more, do it before going back to Gen's tower in Sei'an, because you won't
be able to come back for a while.

[]Ammy Toy []History Scroll 5 []Inkstone
[]Horse Fig. []Holy Arrow I []Seashell
[]Lucky Coin []Whale Fig.

Go to the end of the ship, then go up the stairs to the higher part to find
M4.8. Then go down below decks through the entrance in the other building.
Go down the hallway to the room at the end. Then attract the two metal plates
together, get on, and repel them to launch back up to the top deck. Talk to
the captain. Jump back down the hole to get back to where the old sailor is.

Go on to the next room. Fix the tank, and fill it with water. In the next
room, jump on the boxes to find an Ammy Toy. The next ledge has a Horse Fig.
Attract the anchor to the pole to move it out of the way. In the next area,
examine the cannon, then put the bomb in when the cannon is facing the
opposite direction as the target on the wall. The chest has a Lucky Coin.

After meeting Benkei, jump up to the three ledges to find Lacquerware, History
Scroll 5 (titled Palace under the Sea) and a silver watch. In the cargo hold,
attract first and second blocks you come to and go to the left to find a chest
with Holy Arrow I. Go back to the last blocks and go up and around the corner
to find a chest with a Whale Fig. Go to the right and use attract and repel to
get past the two next blocks. Bomb the barrel and the box to reach a chest with
the Iron Door Key.

Go back to the room with the cannon. Unlock the door on the right side and go
into the treasure room. The chests here have History Scroll 6 (titled Ship
Sinking), the Conch Shell, an Inkstone, and a Seashell. Go back up to the
captain. Help Otohime power up, then meet up with Nanami again, or maybe it's
for the first time...

Sage Shrine (9 m.a.) [P15.2]
-----------------------------

New Enemies: Water Nymph

There's a shell to bloom with the Lucky Mallet in the northern part of this
area. Once you're shrunk down, go into the shrine. Fight the Water Nymph by
using Galestorm to reveal the core. Run away from the whirlpool after the
core disappears. You can get one demon liver by using power slash on the core.
This next part isn't repeatable after you get to about the halfway point, so
try to get everything before that. If you don't mind dying, you can die to
start at the beginning if you're still in the first half. But remember to
kill the Wisp and the Flame Jelly again so they are recorded.

Item Checklist:

[]Holy Bone M []Holy Bone M

[]Issun M4.6

New Enemies: Wisp, Flame Jelly

It's important here to keep as far to the right as possible so you don't die.
Remember to kill the two enemies in here, the Wisp and the Flame Jelly. Try
to watch the map so you know when there will be splits in the path. The path
will narrow, and after that, go to the upper part of the path to get a chest
with Holy Bone M. Stay on the upper part for the next split to get Spirit Ink
M. Stay on the bottom this time to get M4.6, then quickly go up and down again
to get past.

The next part is a series of slashing rocks and using repel to open the doors.
After the path narrows and widens again, stay on the top part to get Holy Bone
M. Keep going past some more magnetized doors. The right side of the two L
shaped walls has a chest with Inkfinity S.

------------------
Boss: Asteroidean
------------------

Keep using power slash or attack the starfish while dodging the red bubbles and
the spinning attack. You can also use Galestorm in the opposite direction to
the spinning to stop it. When it loses all of its legs, it will start shooting
a water beam. Power slash won't work anymore so attack directly. It also has
another invulnerable form where the blue disc isn't visible, and it uses the
spinning attack continuously for a while.

Item Checklist:

[]History Scroll 7
[]Issun M4.7

Go into the main area outside the shrine and exorcise the demons. Bloom the
shell to get History Scroll 7, A Friend to Gods. Go into the shrine. Slash the
clothes. In the next room, slash the screen on the left, then examine the
shelves behind it and connect the two hooks. Slash the shelves in the lower
right of the next room. In the next area, slash the curtain, then lower the
ramp by connecting the two hooks. Then press the button and slash the bed.

Go into the final room and bloom the shell in the top left before approaching
Nanami and Genji, as this is the point of no return for this area. The shell
has M4.7.

---------------------------------
Goryeo (9 m.a.) Part Two [P15.3]
---------------------------------

New Enemies: Old Green Imp, Old Red Imp

Time for some exorcising. There are two on the upper deck, one in Benkei's
boat and the other on the high platform. The one in the boat is an Old
Green Imp, and this one you can slash for 1 demon skin. You can fix Benkei's
boat for praise. The entrance into this platform also has a scroll on the
second floor. This one has an Old Red Imp, which will eventually block you
with its lute/biwa. Slash it to destroy it. You can use slash it for 1
demon liver.

Go down below decks. There a red wildfire respawn point near here, if you
need a refill. The scroll is on the way to the last room. The next scroll
is in the room with the tank. The next room has some Gargoyles, but no
scroll, so go up the stairs. Save the old sailor. The next hallway has
some white toads, which are elemental types, but not new. I suppose since
they were in water before, they couldn't exactly radiate electricity
without electrocuting themselves.

In the cargo hold are some green wildfire. Make your way to the bottom
right to find the last scroll. Nanami immediately goes to tell the
captain. And you get Kurou back.

[]Fist Sake []Holy Arrow F []Soul Sake

[]Snake Fig. []Issun M4.10

New Enemies: Fire Beast, Three Faced Top, Tonsure, Pot Tanuki

Approach the Moon Cave, then help Susano out. Once in the Moon Cave, go up,
then take the passage to the left. The cursed zone has a Fire Beast. If you
have Splash, this is easy, just use it to knock it out when it circles the
area. You can use it to get 2 demon skins too. If you don't have Splash, you
can use Galestorm to blow away the flames.

Go past the guards and down the path. The next cursed zone has a Three Faced
Top. If you have Splash and Fireburst, attack this enemy's weakness. If not,
you're going to have to use Galestorm again. It doesn't work on ice. You can
attack whatever the weakness (for example, wind against lightning) happens to
be at the time to get 1 demon skin. Anyway, get over the following gap using
Kurow, killing the Tonsure as they attack Kurou. The chest at the end has
an Imp Mask.

Talk to the guards in disguise, then go in. Go into the room next to the
origin mirror. Stand in front of the doorway with the magnet above it and
attract the key. Go to the end and unlock the last cell. Leave Kurou on one
button and stand on the other one to lower the water. Slash the guy on the
lift to drop to the third floor.

Go through the door marked three. Fill the cauldron with water from the tank
nearby. Jump onto the conveyor belt and run to the end, avoiding knives, flames
and large chunks of meat. At the end, on the left side, is M4.9. Go back to the
nearby stairs and go up to the imp standing above the conveyor belt. Go to the
right and run down to reach a chest with Fist Sake. run up and press the button
to lower the water. Go down to the second floor.

Slash the dragon scroll between the two red imps and press the button to lower
the water. Go down to the first floor. In the hallway, kill the Pot Tanuki by
connecting the hook to the flower. Behind the other red stones in this area
is the chest with the Permission Slip. Go back up to the second floor by
using Galestorm on the imp.

Talk to the red imp to the right. Then fight five consecutive matches. Go
back up to the fourth floor to free Kurou and the other prisoners in the
cave. In the cell next to Kurou's, there is a bombable wall, and it leads
to the next cell. The chest in there has Exorcism. Go down to the first floor.

Unlock all the doors to find a Snake Fig., Divine Sake L, and a Holy Arrow F.
Then, get to the platform in the middle, and connect the two vines together.
Open the chests in the treasure room to get a Lucky Coin, M4.10, the Golden
Imp Mask, and a seashell. Finishing the fourth masterpiece means you get
Lucky Cat, which attracts money and items.

Go back up to the third floor. You can use Kurou to reach a chest next to the
tank with Soul Sake. Give the mask to the imp. Go back up to the fourth floor
and get the imp drunk with the sake. The point of no return is around here.
Go up the stone snake with some gargoyles to the top for an automatic cutscene.
Then do another slashing minigame.

Bomb the wall nearby to get M5.5. You can go up to where Sakuya's tree will be.
Along the way, bomb the wall to get a Dog Fig. Bloom the sapling at the top.
Go down into the village. You can use the warp now if you want to go back to
the present. If not, you can find History Scroll 8 in Nazo's house (the second
one from the top) and M5.6 in Nagi's house. History Scroll 8 is titled "Lost in
the Woods". Fill Nami's sake barrel with water, then leave.

[]Lucky Coin []Hollow Statue
[]Rodent Fig. []Hollow Statue

New Enemies: Clay Steed, Flame Gargoyle, Clay Soldier, Spark Beast, Ice Beast,
             Death Beast

Talk to Nazo, then go out into Shinshu Field. The bombable wall next to the
ring of stones has Spirit Ink S and Lucky Coin. Also inside are the Clay Steed
and the Flame Gargoyle, which are similar to the dragons and the normal
gargoyle. Outside, the scrolls have Clay Soldiers and Spark Beasts. For the
clay
soldiers, after their HP is 0, they fall backwards. Put a bomb there so that
they fall on the bomb to get 1 demon skin. For the spark beasts, watch for
the beast putting out its electricity. Then it will start circling the area.
Then use Galestorm to knock it out. You get 2 demon livers if you use Galestorm
again.

Bomb the wall where Yakushi will be. Using the vine to the right will get you
another Rodent Fig. Bombing the wall will reveal a chest with New Herbs. Give
Nazo the New Herbs and get the Meat. Then go to the northern part of this area.
There is a dandelion and a bombable area that has M5.7. Go to the upper part of
Shinshu Field.

At this point, Kurou will leave. Keep going to the right to where the Dojo
will be, and bomb a wall. Melt the chest to get a Hollow Statue. Near the
entrance to Agata, there is another dandelion close to a rock. Bombing the
wall there reveals a hole. Inside the cave is a bunch of islands with flowers.
Use Vine to get to the last island with leaves; blow these away to get another
Hollow Statue.

Go down the ramp to the area in front of the Moon Cave. There are three scrolls
here, one Ice Beast, one Water Nymph, and one Death Beast. Defeat the Ice Beast
and the Death Beast with similar techniques to the Fire Beast. Basically, use
Inferno against the Ice Beast and whichever one the Death Beast is weakest to,
when they are circling the area.

Using Galestorm will also work to knock out either of these when they circle
the area if you don't happen to have any upgrades. Using Inferno/Fireburst as
the finisher for the Ice Beast makes it drop 2 demon livers. Using the
appropriate technique for the Death Beast makes it drop 3 demon livers.

There is also a bombable wall on the left side of the ramp, with a Clay
Statue. Then talk to Manpuku and give him the meat. He'll join up with you
and act as a fire source. Go into the Moon Cave area and go up to the Moon
Cave. Then you are automatically taken to the Ice Room.

New Enemies: Ice Boulder, Blue Head, Clay Samurai

Go into the next area by melting the ice. The first ice block in this area
has some birds that will give you praise. The second one has nothing, the
third one has an Ice Beast, the fourth one has a chest with Ice Room Key 1,
the fifth and sixth ones release some Ice Boulders, and the last one frees
a rabbit that gives you more praise.

The next area has two cannons. Examine the cannon and put Manpuku in it.
Light it using Manpuku's head and then vine over to him. The next room has
a large door, but as you can see it requires 4 keys. So go over to the right
into the next area. Slide all the way to the end past the gap. Then walk to
the middle of the path and slide back to the chest with a Penguin Fig. Then
slide to the portal to the next area.

The ice floes here melt if Chibi stands on them too long, so there are
several platforms along the way to jump on. Use Manpuku's ability to get to
the other side of the ice spikes, then jump to the opposite platform by using
a passing ice floe. The chest here has Spirit Ink S. You can see a Blue
Head patrolling the ice spikes. Use Manpuku to lure it to attack him, then
use power slash twice to defeat it. Get the chest on the other side that
has Ice Key 4.

Get back on the ice floe and jump on a platform before it melts. Get to the
top of this area. The chest here has a Seashell. Across the ice, to the left,
is History Scroll 9, Going Home. Go back to the right side and melt the ice
to make the floe float to the right. Jump on it to get to the large ice spike
field. Use Manpuku's ability and Vine to press both buttons. Then get to the
bombable area and bomb it to reveal a chest with a Dragon Fossil. Go to the
next area.

Melt the ice to free a pig for some praise. Slash the columns and move on.
Melting the ice on the last platform frees an Ice Beast. The chest at the
end has a Pearl. Bloom the bud to use as a catapult to the upper area.
Defeat the enemies in the cursed zone to proceed to the other part of
the sliding area.

Slide to the end, and then go to the middle and slide back, melting the
ice along the way. The chest here has Ice Key 2. Then slide back to go
to the next area. Use Manpuku again to lure the Blue Head into attacking
so that you can kill it. Use the pool nearby to widen the narrow ice
bridge. Then bomb the rock covering the next pool to make another bridge.
At the end of the bridge is another cursed zone. After that, use Manpuku
to get Ice Key 3 in a chest.

Now that you have all four keys, go back to the sliding cross shaped area.
Go down the left passageway and jump down. Then slide to the left back
to the door to open it. In the next area, melt the ice to go to the cannon
room.

I have a map of this room in case you want to know what's on all the floes,
but for the important stuff, I'll outline it here. Use the left cannon to
reach a floe with a stray bead. Then use the upper cannon, and defeat the
red wildfire. Then use the upper right cannon to get to a floe with a
scroll (Gashadokuro) and a pearl. Use the upper one to get to a floe with
a scroll with Clay Samurai. Then use the left one to get to an island with
M5.8 and Spirit Ink S. There is also a Lucky Coin, a Seashell, a Dragon
Fossil and a Tiger Fig in this area. Refer to the map for those. Take the
only cannon to reach the exit with a cursed zone.

POINT OF NO RETURN: Jumping on the ice floe in the next room.

Item Checklist:

[]Issun M5.9
[]Divine Sake L
[]Pearl

Anyway, the same as before, the ice floes melt if Chibi stands on them.
So along the way, jump off onto a side area so he doesn't fall into the
water. Near the end, do not melt the ice. The platform just before the
end has M5.9, and if you melt the ice, you don't get anything. Go into
the next area.

Go past the frozen dragon to the left room. Jump onto the first platform.
Use attract, jump to the next one. Repel to move the platform. Then attract,
jump, attract, jump (wait for the gap after three icicles), then repel to
get to the other side. The chest here has a Divine Sake L. The chest in the
next room has a Pearl. Go back to the room with the dragon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------
Boss: Mizuchi
--------------

Hit the dragon. Dodge icicles and icy breath. When it's knocked out, slash the
icicle above its head to hold it in place. Then put Manpuku in the cannon and
launch him. Do that one more time.

The dragon will then start attacking more with its head, with bites and head
slams. Dodge these and the ice attacks, and attack it some more. Launch
Manpuku again, and melt the ice wall the dragon puts up. And then do these
steps one more time.

New Enemies: Armored Dokuro

Alright, so after you go in you fight 2 clay soldiers. Destroy the switch
and then continue up the path. Go the left to find a frozen imp, which you
can melt for praise and a frozen chest with History Scroll 10. Go back to the
main path and go up.

Go past some Pot Tanuki and then to the end of the path into the middle of
the area. Save Charity by connecting her to the flower. Then fight a clay
soldier and a clay samurai. Kurou joins you again. There's a chest close
to one of the pots with Divine Sake L. Go back into that corridor before
and take the northeast door.

Approach the imp to fight Armored Dokuro. The techniques the same as for
Gashadokuro, this one just has armor. It also can spit out some ice which you
can slash back at it. Behind the Armored Dokuro is a chest with M5.10. You
get Scent Charm for completing masterpiece 5. You can talk to the imp to get
some praise as well.

Go back to the previous room and take the door to the left of this one. Run
past the Flame Gargoyles and up the rock snake. Then another slashing
minigame. Back in Kamiki Village, you can save and buy some health and ink
refills. Make sure you have a healthy amount of each, the following battles
require a lot of celestial brush techniques.

Leave the village to automatically go to the Moon Cave area. Enter the Moon
Cave and go up the stairs to go directly into the next area, the Dark Realm.

Item Checklist:

[]Inkfinity S []Inkfinity S
[]Exorcism F []Revenge Slip
[]Divine Sake L []Divine Sake L

Summon your partners by slashing the sky.

Fun fact: You can find all the enemies found in scrolls somewhere in this
area. So if you accidentally missed one of those somehow, you can go through
all the islands and find the missing one. There are unfortunately no
environmental enemies here.

Part 1: Manpuku
---------------

You can buy celestial brush upgrades from this imp.

Go to the first button, defeat the enemy, and press the button. The island to
the right has Inkfinity S. Then go save Manpuku. This cursed zone has a
Gashadokuro. The press the blue button to go back to the first island.
Use the cannon to get to the black button and fight Master Anura again.
Leave Manpuku on the button afterwards.

Part 2: Nanami
--------------

Press the button. The island to the left has Exorcism F. Go to the next
button. The island to the left has Divine Sake L. Then save Nanami. Then
press the 2 blue buttons. Use Nanami to get to the other side of the sea of
stars to press the black button and fight Bull head again. Leave Nanami
on the button after that.

Part 3: Kagura
---------------

The three extra islands here have a Inkfinity S, Revenge Slip, and Divine Sake
L. Save Kagura, then hit the two blue buttons. Guide her across the spirit
floor.

Fight the third stage(Renjishi) of the playhouse bosses. Since you now have
Galestorm, you can use that to blow away the cyclones. And there is also
a flame blast. The order of the points is different again. Again, the points
you get might be different than these.

Points:

upper left, lower left, upper right, lower right, and then the right to
the next of that one, then upper left.

top, lower left, upper right, upper left, lower left, top.

Fight King Fury.

Before moving on, make sure you have a lot of ink refills. And maybe also
health refills. And also Splash and Fireburst.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------
Boss: Kurou
------------

Hit and then dodge until Kurou starts shooting swords. Slash them back at him
to knock him out. Also, he goes grey after using the spinning dash attack a
few times. Of course, you could also not dodge and just keep attacking, and
just keep healing.

Eventually, he powers up. He can dash for longer and shoot out about four
swords. And then he will start flying and shoot out a lot of swords.
But the same techniques as before apply.

---------------------
Boss: Akuro (Spirit)
---------------------

Attack: Response:
Flames Splash
Ice Fireburst
Lightning Galestorm
Charging with Dark Powers Attack
Hands: Slam or Flick Dodge
Hands: Punch Ignore/Dodge
Hands: Grab Bloom
Hands: Palms outward and glowing Repel (upside down U)

The technique here is to knock Akuro out with brush techniques. Then when
he starts charging, to keep attacking. If the hands decide to do something,
dodge, repel or bloom to knock them out and keep attacking Akuro. This will
prevent him from healing itself.

------------
Boss: Akuro
------------

Attack: Response:
Flames Splash/Use Waterspout on ice crystal
Ice Fireburst/Use Inferno on fire crystal
Lightning Galestorm
Dark/Green/Blue Aura Dodge
Circle the arena Dodge

Akuro can cancel out your techniques, but you can also cancel his techniques.
Beat him down and use brush techniques to knock him out until he decides to
black everything out. It's easy to find him in the darkness because dark
Chibi's eyes glow. Knock him out when there is no dark aura, and then draw
the sun. He has three combination attacks, dark aura, green aura and blue
aura. Try to dodge these, and attack for the few seconds that there is no
aura after the attack. There's also an attack where they run along the
side of the area and slam into the middle.

7.3. Three Faced Top - Moon Cave(9 m.a.), Shinshu Field(100 y.a.), Dark Realm

its core. Dodge its attempts to slam you and slash its red or blue
orbs back at it to knock it out.

8.3. Spark Beast - Shinshu Field (100 y.a.), Ice Room, Dark Realm
Use Galestorm when it circles the area.

Demon liver(2) - Galestorm after HP is 0.

8.4. Master Anura - Hana Valley
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Beat him up until he jumps out of the water. Then slash his bellybutton
to get him to cough up the fruit. Guide Kuni to the glowing circle. Either
slash the toad's tongue or hit him to prevent him from hurting Kuni. Hit
him again until he jumps out of the water, then slash his belly button again.
The third time, bloom the shell and then slash the bellybutton.

8.5.1. Witch Queen - Demon Market
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

First, dodge and attack her back. Eventually, she'll activate some buttons.
Red Wildfire will appear and she can suck them in to heal herself. To stop
her, just power slash them before she can suck them in, alternating this
with hitting her from behind. From the front also works for a little.

Alternatively, you could also leave Kuni on the button. Then you could kill
the Red Wildfire, and there wouldn't be a problem. If she destroys the area
around the button, fill it in with Rejuvenation.

8.5.2. Running Away from the Witch Queen
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

8.6. Bullhead - 5-Story Pagoda
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

--------------------
Page 9 - 10 [P20.5]
--------------------

9.1 Sen - Playhouse
''''''''''''''''''''

Dodge the tornados, and slash the gears. You can also hit it from the front.
When it's knocked out, make note of the order the points appear. Then connect
the dots in that order.

9.2 Ryo - Playhouse
''''''''''''''''''''

It is possible the points change position and order, but these were the
ones I got for my playthrough.

The order is left, middle, right,
up, left.

9.3. Renjishi - Playhouse
''''''''''''''''''''''''''

It is possible the points change position and order, but these were the
ones I got for my playthrough.

9.4. Green Imp? - Demon Market (2nd time)
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
Just defeat him like a normal imp.

Demon Skin(2) - use power slash after HP is 0.

9.5. Daidarabotchi - Underground Ruins
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

If King Fury is charging electricity, use Galestorm. Or try to dodge it.

Go up the leg, then vine to the other leg. Keep going up. Go into the entrance,
then go all the way around instead of going into the robot to find an Inkfinity
S. Go into the portal. The first chest has Holy Bone L. The second chest has
Spirit Ink L. The third chest has Divine Sake L. Go to the exterior of the
robot and climb on its shoulder. Vine up, then go up to the head area.

9.6. King Fury - Underground Ruins
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Leave Kurou at the controls. If King Fury is charging electricity, use
Galestorm. If it's going to charge Kurou, bomb it. When King Fury rises in the
air, use Kurou to suck the darkness out of him. In the next part, slash the
slips back at King Fury. When King Fury rises up in the air again, chase King
Fury with Kurou. Then, King Fury will split into two. You will know which one
is the real one when the health bar decreases. Then chase him with Kurou again.

Then cleanse Sugawara by slashing his headdress. Then bloom him.

10.1. Asteroidean - Sage Shrine
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Keep using power slash or attack the starfish while dodging the red bubbles and
the spinning attack. You can also use Galestorm in the opposite direction to
the spinning to stop it. When it loses all of its legs, it will start shooting
a water beam. Power slash won't work anymore so attack directly. It also has
another invulnerable form where the blue disc isn't visible, and it uses the
spinning attack continuously for a while.

10.2. Genji - Sage Shrine

10.3. Orochi - Moon Cave(9 m.a.)

10.4. Mizuchi - Ice Room
'''''''''''''''''''''''''

Hit the dragon. Dodge icicles and icy breath. When it's knocked out, slash the
icicle above its head to hold it in place. Then put Manpuku in the cannon and
launch him. Do that one more time.

The dragon will then start attacking more with its head, with bites and head
slams. Dodge these and the ice attacks, and attack it some more. Launch
Manpuku again, and melt the ice wall the dragon puts up. And then do these
steps one more time.

10.5. Sweet and Sour - Moon Cave(100 y.a.)

10.6. True Orochi - Moon Cave(100 y.a.)

----------------
Page 11 [P20.6]
----------------

11.1. Kurou - Dark Realm
'''''''''''''''''''''''''

Hit and then dodge until Kurou starts shooting swords. Slash them back at him
to knock him out. Also, he goes grey after using the spinning dash attack a
few times. Of course, you could also not dodge and just keep attacking, and
equip the Scent Charm to regenerate some health.

Eventually, he powers up. He can dash for longer and shoot out about four
swords. And then he will start flying and shoot out a lot of swords.
But the same techniques as before apply.

11.2. Akuro(Spirit) - Dark Realm
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Attack: Response:
Flames Splash
Ice Fireburst
Lightning Galestorm
Charging with Dark Powers Attack
Hands: Slam or Flick Dodge
Hands: Punch Ignore/Dodge
Hands: Grab Bloom
Hands: Palms outward and glowing Repel (upside down U)

The technique here is to knock Akuro out with brush techniques. Then when
he starts charging, to keep attacking. If the hands decide to do something,
dodge, repel or bloom to knock them out and keep attacking Akuro. This will
prevent him from healing itself.

11.3. Akuro - Dark Realm
'''''''''''''''''''''''''

Attack: Response:
Flame Splash/Use Waterspout on ice crystal
Ice Fireburst/Use Inferno on fire crystal
Lightning Galestorm
Dark/Green/Blue Aura Dodge
Circle the arena Dodge

Akuro can cancel out your techniques, but you can also cancel his techniques.
Beat him down and use brush techniques to knock him out. He may also spit out
some fire or ice crystals, or some lightning rods. Eventually, he'll blacken
out the sun.

It's easy to find him in the darkness because dark Chibi's eyes glow. Knock
him out when there is no dark aura, and then draw the sun. He has three
combination attacks, dark aura, green aura and blue aura. Try to dodge these,
and attack for the few seconds that there is no aura after the attack. There's
also an attack where they run along the side of the area and slam into the
middle.

                                    FAQ [P21]
===============================================================================

1. How do I beat this boss?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Refer to the enemy guide, or as I said at the beginning, the boss battle
guide by Ryo 0hki.

2. What is with the crack in the side of a cliff in Yakushi Village?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can bomb it, but you can't reach it. During the course of a sidequest,
a house will be built there so you can reach the area. See [P11].

3. Which areas/items are missable?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If an area can't be returned to, it's marked with an asterisk on the table
on contents.

4. When is the point of no return?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is directly after the ice room, and your partner will ask you if you
want to go into the Moon Cave. You can still buy the upgrades to brush
techniques after this from an imp, but you can't return to other areas.
Any internal points of no return are clearly marked.

5. What carries over to the New Game Plus?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This list is right before the Enemy Guide, so Ctrl+F to [P20] and scroll up.

6. How do you upgrade weapons?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By giving lucky coins to the blacksmith at Yakushi Village. You also need
demon parts, dropped by enemies when you use a specific technique when
their HP is 0. See the enemy guide. The locations of the lucky coins
are throughout the guide. Once you get five, the blacksmith doesn't accept
any more.

7. How do you get trinkets?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finishing specific Issun masterpieces, and a sidequest.

8. What are the masterpieces for?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Revenge Slip
2. Peace Bell
3. Charm Set (Exorcism F, I, and T, Holy Arrow F, I, and T)
4. Golden Cat
5. Scent Charm

9. Are there upgrades to brush techniques?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes. You need to invite 5 and 10 people to Yakushi to unlock all of them.

10. Why should I invite people to live in Yakushi Village?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two main reasons, for praise and to unlock more upgrades to brush techniques.
Also, it is required for a lucky coin and also the trinket Lucky Cat Paw.

11. What are the antiques/treasures for?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Money, and getting all of them will unlock the Moon Tribe Spell.

12. What are the manifests for?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The manifests give you praise. They don't unlock anything.

13. Can you run around after the end?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No. New Game Plus starts you over at the beginning. So if you want to run
around you have to do it before the point of no return.

14. If I've already used Gen's machine, can I still go back to previous areas?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, eventually you'll reach a save point where you can warp in Kamiki.
