If you wish, you may use this faq on your site or in a magazine, as long as you ask for permission first and the activity is NOT profit motivated. INTRODUCTION This is my FAQ for Westwood Studio's latest release, Emperor: Battle For Dune. Even though it doesn't introduce anything too ground breaking, the game is very good fun, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes strategy. I've written FAQs for Fifa 2k1,Dungeon Keeper 2,Toca World Touring Cars and Black & White all of my works can be found at one of the best site for cheats on the web, GAMEWINNERS.COM! I've decided to do up to Chapter 2 with each race, to start off, and will be accepting and guides that you have for later and or earlier levels that I haven't played due to the rather large selection of levels at anytime. I will update this section with my own unit profiles and if I recieve any, yours as well. COMING SOON! WALKTHROUGHS 1.2.1 THE ATREIDES MISSION 1 OBJECTIVES: "Destroy the enemy and capture this territory for the Duke!" DIFFICULTY: If you fail, return the game! THE WALKTHROUGH The Harkonnen will attack right away, but your snipers and other troops in defense, will have no problem in dealing with them. Mentat will tell you to look out for wormsigns, just before the second Harkonnen wave gets devoured by one! (A worm) Another wave will attack after this, but once again they are easily dealt with. Reinforcements will arrive- Use them and go attack the base. Make sure that you don't shoot the barrels when your troops are in close proximity, because this spells instant death! After you've whiped everything out it's MISSION COMPLETE. Watch the lengthly cutscenes and pick one of the four territories on offer. My choice: Bilar Slopes "Rescue the prisioners and destroy the base." Difficulty: 47% TO BE CONTINUED 1.2.2 THE HARKONNEN MISSION 1 OBJECTIVES: "Crush the enemy and capture the territory in the name of house Harkonnen!" DIFFICULTY: You can't fail!!! THE WALKTHROUGH: The enemy will attack very quickly on this one, but your tanks can easily handle their pathetic infantry! Dispose of the next few waves and either build up your army, or if you are confident enough, attack with the reinforcements that are provided. Shoot the barrels near the infantry towers and watch the bodies fly! After you've annihilated them, watch the amusing conversation and selected on of the four regions to assault. MY CHOICE: MUSHTAMAL RIDGE OBJECTIVES: PRIMARY: "Capture this region." SECONDARY: "Aquire the refugees." DIFFICULTY: 22% THE WALKTHROUGH: The famous "Tank Rush" tactic works pretty well on this mission, because you can quite easily build up your army without suffering heavy attacks. The Fremen are in the upper left corner. After you've captured them more will spawn in until you complete your objective. The Ordos base is on the bottom left, and they aren't at all well equipped against your tanks. The worms and tornadoes on this map can also cause you problems, so be carful. After the level is complete, Ordos troops will attack and you can decide if you wish to defend or resign your territory to them. MISSION 3 OBJECTIVES: "These Fremen are predictable. We can expect reprisals from them soon enough. Crush them, and hold this territory." REINFORCEMENTS: 2 Each DIFFICULTY: 47% THE WALKTHROUGH: This mission is very easily won, if you DON'T defend! Just build up a nice force of tanks as quickly as possible, and attack! If you're lucky, you'll be victorious on your first attempt. MISSION 4 INFILTRATION 1 OBJECTIVES: "Destroy all the enemy frigates! Kill everyone you find!" DIFFICULTY: Percentage not provided But it's relatively easy. THE WALKTHROUGH This mission is pretty simple, just walk around the map destroying the enemy frigates. (or just destroy everything in sight as instructed) Shoot the barrels whenever possible, to cause massive damage to everything in range. After causing mass destruction for a period, you will get reinforcements for your evil cause. There is a time limit to this level that starts after you destroy the first frigate, but 15 minutes is ample. If the mission doesn't end, just make sure everything in sight has been blown to pieces, for completion. MISSION 5 ANOTHER SET OF CHOICES (Six in all) You can choose out of six levels, including ones occupied by Tleilaxu and Ixian forces. Depending on which you choose, you aquire their technologies for yourself. (YAY!) Mentat says that you can attempt to deal with both, but they won't be pleased if they find out, because they are terrible foes. MY CHOICE I chose to ally with the Tleilaxu. HABBANYA ERG DIFFICULTY: 8% (ORDOS) OBJECTIVES: "It is the supreme commander's with that you should defend the Tleilaxu." THE WALKTHROUGH This mission can be suprisingly difficult, if you don't know what to do. To the bottom left of the screen, somewhere near the Tleilaxu base, there is an Ordos encampment. Take your initial troops, including MCV, and head down there. When you reach your destination, take care of the defending troops, and deploy your base. Build a barracks, and upgrade it to get some engineers. Train 4 or more and take over the Ordos constructions. YAY! When all of them are under your control, you're victorious! NOTE: You could also just destroy the buildings, but since the engineers take over them right away, that would actually take longer. MISSION 6 ORDOS & SARDAUKAR ATTACK! OBJECTIVES "The Sardaukar have sworn to take vengeance upon us for protecting the Tleilaxu." " Prepare for their attack!" "Slaughter them, along with the enemy!" "This bodes well for an alliance with the Tleilaxu." DIFFICULTY 58% (Defending) THE WALKTHROUGH This mission is relatively easy, just build up lots of infantry and stand your ground. The enemy will attack in a few strong waves, but you shouldn't have to attempt this stage more than once. Running over the opposition troops 'Carmageddon style' works pretty well, because they tend to be huddled together in groups. After the mission is complete, you will see Copec poison his dear father with a quite nasty mixture. (made by the Tleilaxu naturally) You now have to choose which brother you are going to side with: Copec or Gunseng, there can be only one! I chose Gunseng, because Copec is an overweight, pompous, wimpy guy and wouldn't make a good leader at all. (in my humble opinion) MISSION 7 DESTROYING THE PALACE with Gunseng OBJECTIVES "Destroy the palace, and Copec's rule over House Harkonnen will end!" *Gunseng will provide you with funds at regular intervals, eliminating* *the need for a refinery. Just don't spend to much in one go. * DIFFICULTY Percentage not provided (moderate) THE WALKTHROUGH This mission can be frustrating, if you don't know the correct way to go about things. Build up your defenses with flame towers and turrets, as quickly as possible. Produce some tanks, and hope for the best as the first wave attacks. The first siege on your base, will start after Mentat informs you of an incoming frigage. Upgrade your offensive buildings, and que loads of advanced troops for training. Keep on defending the incoming assaults, and build up your defenses when neccessary. When you are satified, that you've got a big enough army, attack down the right of your screen. NEVER go down the left, because troops are much heavier on this side of the map. If you're lucky, you'll only have to deal with the initial turrets and a couple of flamers and tanks. When you get to the palace, ignore everything, and just focus on it. All of the foes in this area are pretty well equipped, so it would be useless to try and defeat them. The Palace doesn't have much "health" , so after about 30 seconds of attacking, it will collapse. Mission Complete. Watch the amusing cutscene, in which Gunseng introduces Copec to his latest "Toy". Nice people these Harkonnen.
