Susumu with his roommate Pochi (the Dog) returned to everyday life, time passed on... but on one sunny day suddenly on the TV a News Flash appeared, Puzzle Blocks have began to appear again! Also this time, large amounts of Puzzle Blocks began to appear in India, America, Egypt and the many other places of the world. "The inside of the earth is beginning to be overflowed with Puzzle Blocks!" The people of the world became worried and began abandoning it. He couldn't stand this, Susumu began to hurry in arranging excavation of the Puzzle Blocks. Just as he was about to start excavation he heard the voice of someone behind him... "Just wait a minute! Don't leave without me?" It was another driller, Anne Hotenmaya who had also learnt of the bad news. She then joined Susumu in his plans of excavation. What is the cause of this latest mass appearance of Puzzle Blocks? And who is the real pro of excavation? ============================================================================== 3)MENU TRANSLATIONS ============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ i)Main Menu ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Press left or right on the Main Menu to switch to which character you want to play as, either ƒXƒXƒ€ (Susumu) or ƒAƒ“ƒi (Anna). ‚ЂƂèƒhƒŠƒ‰[ Single Driller ƒ~ƒbƒVƒ‡ƒ“ƒhƒŠƒ‰[ - The basic Mr. Driller Game, dig down to a certain Mission Driller depth to clear the stage. ‚Æ‚±‚Æ‚ñƒhƒŠƒ‰[ - This mode has no depth limits, the object is to go Endless Driller as deep as possible before running out of lives. ƒ^ƒCƒ€ƒAƒ^ƒbƒN - With Time Attack mode you are required to dig to Time Attack Driller given depth within the allocated time. ‚Ó‚½‚èƒhƒŠƒ‰[ - Two Player Drilling via the Advanced Cable and two Couple Drillers Game Paks (No Single Cart Play). ƒŒƒR[ƒh - View your best records for both Single & Couple Records Driller Modes ƒIƒvƒVƒ‡ƒ“ Options ƒhƒŠƒ‰[ƒJ[ƒh - View all the Mr. Driller Cards you have collected. Drilling! The gameplay is basically what I would call a cross between "Dig Dug" & "Tetris". The playing area consists of a large stack of coloured blocks, as the Drillers Susumu or Anna you must dig through these blocks to reach the given depth thus finishing the level, except in Endless Driller where the pile of blocks is infinite. When you drill into a Puzzle Block (Block of pastel shades of yellow, blue, red & green), it and all surrounding blocks of the same colour will dissolve. Also if a segment made of 4 or more blocks is created due to falling blocks, all blocks in that segment will dissolve. Also there are Crystal Blocks which eventually dissolve after flashing. Brown X-Blocks take 5 drills to dissolve and will come at a cost of 20% of your Air Supply in Mission & Endless Driller Modes and at a cost of 5 seconds in Time Attack Driller Mode. Silver X-Blocks are impenetrable. Your Driller can die by running out of Air, so try to collect as many of the Air Capsules as you can during your decent as they increase your Air Supply by 20%. Susumu & Anna can also die by getting crushed by falling blocks. Deep into the different levels the Air Capsules will be encased in X-Blocks, to get to them you must make four X-Blocks link up so they dissolve. As if you drill the X-Blocks out of the way, the 20% of your air you use to dissolve the block would negate the 20% you get from the Air Capsule. ============================================================================== 5)MISSION DRILLER ============================================================================== Mission Driller is the main play mode of Mr. Driller 2. The object of Mission Driller is to drill your way through the puzzle blocks to the required depth of the difficulty, every 100 metres there is a large block that once dissolved will clear all blocks above it. Initially there are three Difficulty Levels/Locations, they are: ------------------ America (ƒAƒƒŠƒJ) Normal (’†‹‰) 1000m Deep ([‚³) ------------------ Egypt (ƒGƒWƒvƒg) Hard (㋉) 2000m Deep ([‚³) ------------------ India (ƒCƒ“ƒfƒBƒA) Easy (‰‹‰) 500m Deep ([‚³) ------------------ But once those are cleared another Stage will be available: ------------------ The North (–k‹É) Very Hard (’´ã‹‰) 2000m Deep ([‚³) ------------------ On your Status Bar are four displays, they are: Excavation Depth (Œ@‚Á‚½[‚³) which displays how many blocks/metres you have dug down to, Score (ƒXƒRƒA) which displays your current Score, Remaining Air (‚Ì‚±‚èƒGƒA) which shows how full your Liquid Air Tank is in a percentage form & Number of Lives (‚¢‚Ì‚¿‚Ì”) which shows how many Drillers you have left. ============================================================================== 6)ENDLESS DRILLER ============================================================================== Endless Driller is the endurance mode of Mr. Driller 2. The object of Endless Driller is to drill your way to the lowest depth you can possible dig down to. This means that you must try not to die so much. There are three Difficulty settings, they are: Easy (ƒC[ƒV[) = 5 Lives Normal (ƒm[ƒ}ƒ‹) = 3 Lives Hard (ƒn[ƒh) = 1 Lives On your Status Bar are four displays, they are: Excavation Depth (Œ@‚‚½[‚³) which displays how many blocks/metres you have dug down to, Personal Best (Ž©ŒÈƒxƒXƒg) which displays the lowest ever depth you have got to, Remaining Air (‚Ì‚±‚èƒGƒA) which shows how full your Liquid Air Tank is in a percentage form & Number of Lives (‚¢‚Ì‚¿‚Ì”) which shows how many Drillers you have left. ============================================================================== 7)TIME ATTACK DRILLER ============================================================================== Time Attack Driller is quite different to the other two modes. In it you race to dig down to the required depth within the Time Limit, the levels are not randomly generated. There are 10 Courses. To unlock the harder courses you must clear all of the courses above it on the Course Select Screen. For example beating A,B,C & D opens up E, F & G. All courses have different Depths & Time Limits, here is a table of them: | Depth Level | Required Time ---+-------------+---------------- A | 100 Metres | 0'24"00 B | 100 Metres | 0'16"00 C | 100 Metres | 0'46"00 D | 100 Metres | 0'16"00 E | 100 Metres | 0'28"00 F | 100 Metres | 0'37"00 G | 100 Metres | 0'28"00 H | 200 Metres | 0'43"00 I | 200 Metres | 0'36"00 J | 300 Metres | 1'45"00 ---+-------------+---------------- Once you have finished all 10 Courses, you will be able to access to Reversed copies of all 10 Courses. Pressing the R Button on the Course Menu will toggle between the Forward Courses (ƒIƒ‚ƒe) and the Reverse Courses (ƒEƒ‰). Here is a table of all of the Reverse Courses: | Depth Level | Required Time ---+-------------+---------------- A | 100 Metres | 0'18"00 B | 100 Metres | 0'10"00 C | 100 Metres | 0'40"00 D | 100 Metres | 0'12"00 E | 100 Metres | 0'23"00 F | 100 Metres | 0'34"00 G | 100 Metres | 0'20"00 H | 200 Metres | 0'38"00 I | 200 Metres | 0'30"00 J | 300 Metres | 1'23"00 ---+-------------+---------------- In Time Attack Driller there is no Oxygen Gauge, this is because in this mode your digger has Unlimited Air. So there are no Air Capsules as well. Time Attack has more items then the other modes. Clocks deduct the amount of seconds displayed on them once collected. Crystals (Blue block with a white star on it) once collected cause certain Blocks to turn into Crystals. Turn Blocks (Orange Block with a right angle & 90K printed on it) once collected cause the area on screen to turn 90K. Flip Blocks (Yellow block with a curved arrow printed on it) once collected cause the area on screen to flip upside down. On your Status Bar are four displays, they are: Excavation Depth (Œ@‚‚½[‚³) which displays how many blocks/metres you have dug down to, Time (ƒ^ƒCƒ€) which displays the current amount of time that has passed, Personal Best (Ž©ŒÈƒxƒXƒg) which displays the shortest ever time you have cleared the level & Required Time (‡Šiƒ^ƒCƒ€) which is the time needed to finish the level under to clear the Course. ============================================================================== 8)DRILLER CARD LIST ============================================================================== After completing certain tasks you will be rewarded with Driller Cards.
