Useful Information Credits ======================================================================= Final Fantasy 1 ======================================================================= A. Walkthrough ======================================================================= First, you must choose a party and name your characters. The character classes will change later in the game but they will be listed here for your benefit. Refer to the Equipment section for a list of weapons, armor, and spells that each class can use and equip. Warrior Second Class: Knight Magic Level: 0 Description: Warriors are physically the most powerful characters in the game because of their high HP, attack, and defense. Most swords and armor you will find can be equipped by Warriors. Knight Magic Level: 3 Description: Knights are capable of wielding the most powerful weapons in the game and can learn up to level three white magic which include the spells Protect and Blink (if you have a knight you must have these two spells!). Thief Magic Level: 0 Second Class: Ninja Description: Thieves have high agility (mine did anyways) and average attack power making them good fighters. They can't equip very many weapons and are somewhat low in HP but can be deadly when they are hasted and tempered. Ninja Magic Level: 4 Description: N/A Monk Magic Level: 0 Second Class: Master Description: I don't really use monks all that much. Feel free to e-mail me a description for monks. Master Magic Level: 0 Description: N/A Red Mage Magic Level: 5 Second Class: Red Wizard Description: Red Mages can equip strong weapons and armor and can cast both black and white magic. They have a pretty even amount of HP and MP and average attack power. Red Mages will never be able to use the most powerful skills such as Heal and Life. Red Wizard Magic Level: 7 Description: Red Wizards can learn more white and black magic. White Mage Magic Level: 7 Second Class: White Wizard Description: Although the white mage is one of the weakest characters physically they are extremely useful healers as they are able to learn all three Heal spells and the Dia spell which is very helpful when you are facing undead monsters. White Wizard Magic Level: 8 Description: Can learn the most powerful white magic in the game which includes Curaja! Black Mage Magic Level: 7 Second Class: Black Wizard Description: Black Wizards are useful for dealing out elemental damage to those who are weak against it and can boost other character's stats making them very useful, however, they lack physical strength and endurance which causes them to die often. Black Wizard Magic Level: 8 Description: Can learn the most powerful black magic in the game which includes Flare! For this walkthrough I have two thieves, one white mage, and one black mage. If you want the game to be insanely easy choose three fighters and a red mage. If you want the game to be insanely difficult choose four thieves. I advise having at least one black mage or a red mage in your party so you can learn the black magic Temper and Haste. This will make any character a force to be reckoned with. ======================================================================= 1. The Heroes of Light ======================================================================= As soon as you have control over your character walk into town. Please refer to the equipment section for information on weapons, armor, etc. -Cornelia- Weapon Shop Cost Nunchaku 8 Knife 4 Staff 4 Rapier 8 Hammer 8 Armor Shop Cost Clothes 8 Leather Armor 40 Chain Mail 65 White Magic Cost Cure 50 Dia 50 Protect 50 Blink 50 Black Magic Cost Fire 50 Sleep 50 Focus 50 Thunder 50 Inn: 30 gil This town has a sanctuary. Purchase the best equipment you can for each of your characters and try to leave town. All the gates are blocked by soldiers. Speak to any one of them and you will be taken to the castle. Listen to what the king has to say and exit the castle. Gain about two to four levels and travel northwest from Corneria until you reach a large building. Go inside and walk up. Talk to Garland. Garland HP: 212 Atk: 15 Acc: 27 Def: 8 Agl: 6 Int: 12 Eva: 12 MDef:64 EXP: 130 Gil: 250 Treasure: Longsword "I, Garland, will knock you all down!" Garland is the weakest and easiest boss in the game. Unless you have a team of warriors and red mages all you'll need to do is attack and heal (if even that!). You will automatically travel back to the castle. After the king talks to you try to leave and the princess will give you a Lute. The bridge will be rebuilt as well. The next area has some pretty tough monsters so you should be at least level three or four before traveling. Head north above the castle and travel east following the straight path to the next town. -Pravoka- Weapon Shop Cost Hammer 8 Broadsword 450 Battle Axe 450 Scimitar 160 Armor Shop Cost Leather Armor 40 Chain Mail 65 Iron Armor 640 Leather Shield 12 Leather Gloves 50 White Magic Cost Blindna 250 Silence 250 NulShock 250 Invis 250 Black Magic Cost Blizzard 250 Dark 250 Temper 250 Slow 250 Item Shop Cost Potion 40 Ether 150 Antidote 50 Eye Drops 50 Phoenix Down 500 Inn: 50 gil This town has a sanctuary. After you defeat the pirates you'll receive a ship. Leave town and get into the ship. Sail west out of the lake and then sail south until you reach land and follow it west to a dock. Get off the ship and walk south and into the town you'll see. ========================================================================== 2. Things of Interest: One of the gravestones above the Inn reads, "Here lies Link." Before attempting the next dungeon you should buy your characters new equipment and spells. Make sure you have a good supply of antidotes and potions on hand as well. (Avoid using magifc as much as possible.) When you are ready, from Elfheim, head west until you reach the mountains. Walk around these mountains while staying close to them and you will find a cave (if you can'y find the cave it's on the other side of these mountains.). You should be in the cave now. From the entrance walk up until you find a set of stairs. From the stairs walk left and enter the room to find 680 gil then go down and get 620 gil and a broad sword from the next room. Go back to the stairs and walk right to find a dagger. Go back downstairs and walk back to the entrance. Walk down to find another set of stairs. This will lead you deeper into the dungeon. Exit the room you are in and walk as far as you can to the right and collect the 295 gil from the treasure chest in the room at the end. Then walk down until you come to another room and left to the third room on this row to get a phoenix down and a cottage. Go to the next room (to the left) and grab the copper armlet. Go down to the next row and get the 385 gil from the third room. Now go left (into the next room) and you should see a lone treasure chest. Make sure you are fully healed and walk up to the chest. You will have to fight a few piscodemons so make sure you cast your hardest hitting spells and deal as much damage as you can before they kill you. Thunder works well. After you kill them grab the crown and make your way back to the top. From the cave head north to find a castle. Prepare yourself and go to the central room and speak with the king. He will take the crown and turn into Astos, the dark elf. Astos HP: 420 Atk: 30 Acc: 42 Def: 18 Agl: 39 Int: 24 Eva: 78 MDef: 170 EXP: 2250 Gil: 2000 Treasure: Mythril Sword Astos can do some pretty dangerous attacks but if you have temper and haste cast it on your melee fighters. Healers shouldn't worry about attacking and keep to healing the party unless they need to. You should be able to finish him pretty quickly. After you defeat him you'll receive Matoya's Crystal Eye. Go back to your ship and head towards Cornelia. Sail to the bridge and go under it and you will enter a small lake. Head north and you will see a dock. Dock here and go north to a cave. Walk inside and through the door that you will see and talk to Matoya. She will take her Crystal Eye back and give you a Jolt Tonic to wake the elven prince. Go back to Elfheim and enter the castle. Give the tonic to the prince and he will wake up. After thanking you he will give you the Mystic Key which will allow you to open any door. Go to the northeast corner of Elfheim castle and you will find a treasure room that contains the following items: 800 gil, 700, gil, bronze gloves, and a mythril hammer. Now go back to Western Keep and enter the treasure room on the west side of the castle to find a falchion, some steel gloves, and a power staff. Now go to Marsh Cave (south of Western Keep) and go back to the room where you fought the Piscodemons and go to the bottom of the room. Starting from the left: the first room contains a silver armlet. The second room has an antidote and the fourth room has 1020 gil. Now go back to your ship and head to Corneria. Enter the castle and make your way to the treasure room it's fairly easy to find. The treasure room on the right contains a saber, a mithril knife, and a cottage. The one on the left has Nitro Powder, a tent, and some iron armor. Now go to the Chaos Shrine northwest of Corneria. In the Chaos Shrine go to the northeast corner to get a werebuster (sword) and a gold needle. Then go to the southeast corner to get a rune blade (sword). Get back on your ship and head west to find another dock. Dock here and travel south to find the dwarven cave. Pillage their chests to find these items: 575 gil, 450 gil, tent, great helm, wyrmkiller, ether, mythril mail, cottage, potion, and 575 gil. Now walk to the far southeastern corner and talk to the dwarf standing there. (He'll be alone.) Give him the Nitro Powder and he'll open the canal for you. Go back to your ship and sail through the canal and head northwest and dock. Walk to the right to come to Melmond. ======================================================================= 3.
