Introduction
====================

Hi, This is the first walkthrough / FAQ I have ever written, so comments and suggestions are appreciated.

I will attempt to update it on a weekly / 2 weekly basis, so if you have any additions or spot any errors or omissions then please e-mail me, putting “Harry Potter” in the subject line.

I think I have discovered most of the secrets of the game, although I have not completed Ron’s Stink pellet challenge and currently don’t have all of the cards !

Should you wish to publish this FAQ / walkthrough to your website please e-mail me at [email protected] with Harry Potter in the subject line.

The Game
====================

The object of course is to guide Harry, Hermione and Ron through their various adventures.
There are a number of mini games which I have found (although I am not sure I have found them all) which contribute to the overall score of house points.

You have control of all three characters and need to switch between them as each have their own specialised spells / abilities in order to complete the various tasks

The Controls
To be completed …

The Characters

The three controllable characters are Harry, Hermione and Ron.

Harry Potter
He is obviously the main character, he is good at everything and is the fastest at running and carries the Marauders map.

His spells are; Flippendo, Expelliarmus, Carpe Rectractum and Expecto Patronum
Hermione Granger
She is the best at casting spells of the three of them and also is the smallest, she can fit into gaps, walk on ice etc.

Her spells are; Flippendo, Expelliarmus, Glacius, Reparo, Draconifors, Snufflifors

Ron Weasley
Ron is the naughtiest of them with the ability to use stink bombs and Dung bombs. He also has the ability to find hidden passageways / rooms and can search for things such as every flavoured beans. When using Ron, any special walls or bookcases take on a slight shimmering effect (so you know there is something to be explored !)

Her spells are; Flippendo, Expelliarmus, Glacius, Reparo, Draconifors, Snufflifors

Other Creatures
You will come across a number of other creatures as you progress through the game. Below is a listing of them and strategies with which to defeat them:
Suits of Armour
These are found in certain rooms, at night the have a beam of vision which sweeps from side to side, if you go into it you will be caught
Dementor
Dementors are the most feared creatures in the game, the guards of the prison of Azkerban. They attack you by sucking the life out of you. To escape from the grip of a dementor you need to wiggle the left analogue stick as fast as possible, once out of their grasp you can then either run away, or cast a Expecto Patronum spell which will defeat them

Billywig

Chizpurfle
These creatures are attracted to magic - magical light from Ron’s Luminus spell gets them to walk towards you. Their shells are extremely hard and can only be broken by a venomous tentacular, which chews them up and then spits them out ! So to defeat them you need to manoeuvre then within the range of a venomous tentacular and then let it do the rest !
Doxy
These horrible creatures are difficult to defeat and have a poisonous bite. If bitten by one the poison will reduce you health until you eventually die. The effect of the poison can be counteracted by the antidote to uncommon poisons
Dragonfly
The thoraxes of these creatures are required by Snape for a potion. They are located in the courtyard with the pond and you need to use the Draconifors spell on the statue by the pond. The flame burns them and you can then pick up the Thoraxes for the potion.

Fairy
These nasty little creatures do not exist in the Hogwarts grounds. But they can be found by going down the passageway behind the statue of ….
To defeat them, one must first stun them with a flippendo spell, then they can be frozen using the glacius spell. While they are immobilised, one can then collect their wings.

Flying Books
These charmed book will fly out of bookshelves and attack you, the can be turned into mice by Hermione’s Snufflifors spell. Usually when you defeat all the books in a room the is a little prize of Bertie Botts Beans or a vial of potion.
Flying seahorses
They can be found by the boathouse and are essential ingredients for one of Snape’s potions. To catch them one needs to use the Carpe Retractum spell to hook them and then gently pull them in, this can be a little difficult at first but you soon get the hang of it.
Ghouls
Hinkypunk
These one legged creatures look as if they are a cloud of smoke, they carry a lantern which they twirl around their heads and then throw at you. to defeat them one needs Ron to use his Lumos Duo spell, which will eventually reveal them as the animal they are. Once they are revealed one can use a flippendo spell to finish them off.
Hippogriff
These creatures are not for fighting, but for flying ! Buckbeak who lives in a pen by Hagrid’s house will (if treated correctly) allow you to fly on his back to explore the grounds of the castle and even to accomplish some of the missions. To hop on to a hippogriff one must first show it the proper respect by bowing to them, they will then bow back and allow you to climb on to their back.
Pixie
These nasty creatures will pick characters up and drop them. To defeat them keep casting the Flippendo spell until they die.

Red Cap
These tough dwarf like creatures are quite organised and aggressive, they will tend to attack in gangs, organising themselves in a phlanx with shields at the front. They are easily defeated with a couple of blasts of Flippendo, although they are adept at using their shields to defend themselves from spells
Salamander
These fiery lizards feed on flame and tend to live in areas where there are fiery pits. They can be defeated by casting a Glacius spell on them which puts out their fire and then using Flippendo to finish them off. But, be aware, as long as the fiery pit is still burning brightly they are able to re-ignite themselves.

Troll
Trolls are fearsome creatures, up to twelve feet tall and weighing over a tonne. They are notable for their equally prodigious strength and stupidity, trolls are particularly attracted to unpleasant smells – such as dungbombs !
I don’t believe one can defeat Trolls, although being so stupid they are easily distracted by dungbombs – thus allowing one to slip past unnoticed.

Venemous Tentacular
These are Giant carnivorus flowers, It is recommended that only the very experienced attempt to approach a fully-grown Venemous Tentacula. Their jaws are particularly strong and can easily break apart Chizpurfle carapaces. They cannot be defeated and are therefore best avoided, or at least approach them with extreme caution.

Spells

Flipendo
All characters have this spell
This is the basic attack spell, used to inflict damage on any enemies and to activate some objects. The power of this spell is increased when Hermione gets Chapter 1 of the book (see Hermione’s statue list in the mini games section).

Expelliarmus
All characters have this spell
This is your basic defensive spell which acts like a shield. It will deflect any spell heading for you and then it will bounce the spell back in the direction which you are pointing. It is very useful when duelling as you can hit your opponent with the spell which they have fired at you. All characters have this spell

Glacius
Only Hermione has this spell
This spell Freezes water and puts out fire, it is used to freeze water, allowing Hermione to cross by walking on the Ice. It is used to create a block, which can be moved and then used to climb on – enabling you to get up walls.  It is also used to defeat some of the creatures;
Salamanders - by putting out their fire
Fairies – after they have been stunned with a fllippendo they can be frozen

Lumos Duo
Only Ron has this spell
This spell creates a beam of magical light, it is used to charge up crystals so that they emit a magical light beam (useful for opening seceret doors etc.). It is used to defeat billywigs.

Reparo
Only Hermione has this spell
Repairs broken objects such as vases, crates and bridges.

Carpe Retractum
Only Harry has this spell
This spell works like a grappling hook, allowing Harry to take objects such as cards from unreachable places, pull parts of bridges together and also to jump across gaps.

Draconifors
Only Hermione has this spell
This spell makes dragon statues breathe fire. It is used to open certain secret passages and to capture some animals such as Dragonflies.

Expecto Patronum
Only Harry has this spell
This spell conjures a Patronus which needs to be guided to its target (a Dementor) to destroy it.

Snufflifors
Only Hermione has this spell
This spell turns a book into a mouse, it is fab when exploring at night (such as going to Fred & Georges shop) as the books from the bookshelf tend to attack . usually when all the books in a room have been defeated with this spell there is a little prize of Beans on a vial of potion somewhere !

Items

Antidote to Uncommon Poisons
This is the First potion which you learn about in Snape’s Potions class, it cures the character when poisoned by a doxy bite.
Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans
These are the currency used at Hogwarts (or at least in Fred & Georges Shop) the appear when certain challenges have been successfully completed (ie. when Hermione uses the Snufflifors spell to turn all the flying books into mice). They can also be found when searching bookshelves.

When duelling in the duelling clun you can often win a 10 bean bean
Bookshelves
Most bookshelves can be searched by Ron to find items such as beans, vials of potions, stink pellets and dung bombs.
Cauldrons
In some rooms there are cauldrons which can be hit with a Flippendo spell to give you a Bertie Botts bean or other items such as potions etc.
Dark Forces Book
Found in Fred & Georges shop this book is made available by Fred & George, chapter by chapter as you complete the “Hermione’s statues challenge” (see mini games). The Chapters give the following abilities:

Chapter 1	- Improved duelling (This increases the strength of the Flippendo Spell)

Chapter 2	- Improved defence (This give all the characters the Expelliramus spell)

Chapter 3	- Faster spell cast ( … does exactly what it says!)
Dungbombs
These are used by Ron to create large diversions, they are particularly useful against Trolls and are available from Fred and Georges shop, of can be found when searching bookshelves.

Dungbomb Case
Available in Fred and Georges shop, it Allows Ron to hold more Dungbombs (25 instead of 5).
Golden Goblets
There are Golden Goblets in certain rooms which wobble from side to side, when hit with a Flippendo spell, they will kindly give you an item (such as a vial of potion)
Milk Cartons
There are milk cartons in certain rooms which wobble from side to side, when hit with a Flippendo spell, they will kindly give you an item (such as a vial of potion)
Girding Potion
This is the second potion which you learn about in Snape’s Potions class, it increases the character's stamina. But beware Snaps says that you can only take two vials of this potion before you die – although Fred & George have other ideas … 5 vials – I have not tested it to see who is correct !
Owl Care Kit
Allows Harry use of another owl other than Hedwig
Stink Pellets
These are used by Ron to create small diversions, they are available from Fred and Georges shop, of can be found when searching bookshelves.
Stink Pellet Bag
Available in Fred and Georges shop, it Allows Ron to hold more Stink Pellets (25 instead of 10).
Snufflifors Book

Vases
In various rooms there are vases on stands which can be hit with a Flippendo spell to give you a Bertie Botts bean or other items such as potions etc.
Wiggenweld Potion
Replenishes the character's stamina.

Navigation
====================

Grand Staircase
The Grand staircase is how you get between the different floors in Hogwarts, the staircases move up and down. There are a couple of stink pellet challenge containers – between the 7th and 6th floor, above the 5th floor landing and on the ground floor to the left of the door to the Entrance Hall.

7th Floor – Gryffindor Tower

Gryffindor Common room
Has exits leading to the Girls dormitory (only Hermione can go in there !), the boys dormitory, and to the fat Lady’s corridor. To the left of the entrance from the fat Lady’s corridor is the Notice board (see the Lost Items mini game) There is also a secret room here behind the bookcase which has a chest in it.

The Fat Lady’s Corridor
This has a door to the North Wing and also a door to the Seventh Floor Corridor. There are some vases on stands which can be flippendoed for some beans

North Wing
This is a library with many bookshelves which can be searched by Ron to find items. It can be patrolled by Trolls at night and Ron needs to use dung bombs to distract the trolls for long enough to sneak past.

There is a door on one side to the fat lady’s corridor and on the other to the 7th floor corridor.

On the left hand side at the far end is a stink pellet challenge container and a chest

7th Floor Corridor
This room is in 2 halves with an arch in between. It has doors to the Fat lady’s corridor, the North wing in the first section, the second section has a door to the Grand staircase and a secret passage to the 4th floor is hidden behind the bookcase on the left hand side (as you cone from the first section).
There are a number of bookcases and vases in the corridor where you can get Beans etc.

6th Floor – Ancient Runes
6th Floor Corridor
The corridor has a door at the other end to Glenmore Peakes Corridor. In the middle of the room there are bookshelves on either side, three books fly out of them and attack the characters. Hermione’s Snufflifors spell will destroy them and earn a few beans. There are a few vases which can be searched and the statue of Glenmore Peakes with a chest beside it.

Glenmore Peakes Corridoor
There are two doors in this room, one leading to Fred & Georges shop, the other leading to the East Wing.

You enter to the side of the corridor, to your left is a presentation case with some bones in it which has a chest on top of it, ahead a broken vase, a portrait which will give tips on the location of potions and a chest to the right of the portrait.

To the right as you walk in from the 6th floor corridor is a puddle - which can be frozen to provide a block of ice (used to help you climb on top of the presentation case)- a bookshelf and next to the bookshelf is a secret room with a chest in it.

The East Wing

This is a large room with a platform in the centre, around the outside are suits of armour, a number of bookshelves and a few vases. There is also a stink pellet challenge container in the far left corner. There is another door in this room, but it is locked with a padlock

Fred & Georges Shop
Well, what can I say, this is one of the most fun rooms in Hogwarts ! there is plenty to buy and it is worth noting that each different character can buy different types of things here. There is a stink pellet challenge container on the right hand side and a box which jumps about, if the box is hit with a Flippendo spell, it will produce an item.

At the back, past the loos there is a room which has a bookshelf (with a milk carton on top) which can be searched. There is also a secret door to a chamber.

The Chamber
To the left is a wooden half door (with a button inside) which Ron and Harry can lift up while Hermione slips underneath to press the button. The button creates a walkway between the ledge which you are on and the circular platform. There is also a door opposite but, it is locked.

The circular platform has three circling fireballs which Hermione can knock out with her Glacius spell. The three characters walk onto the circular platform and then stand on the three buttons to open the chamber in the middle where a card awaits. The card can be retrieved by Harry with his Carpe retractum spell.

5th Floor – Muggle Studies

Showcase Room
This room is filled with showcases of muggle artefacts, there is a door on the opposite side of the room – leading to a corridor (with a chest in it and stink pellet challenge container) which leads to the Music room. To the right there is a wooden grate which can be lifted up by Harry & Ron to allow Hermione to crawl under. The showcases can be hit with the Flippendo spell and the glass will shatter, but watch out for the ones with dung bombs !

Underneath the Grate …
Hermione can crawl under the grate and she comes into a corridor with a chest (which is full of beans). There is a door at the end on the left which leads to the Rubber Duck room

The Rubber Duck Room
You may ask why … Turn left and you will see !
If you turn right there are two crates, when you approach them a small flock of deadly rubber ducks come swarming out and attack you, you can kill them by repeatedly firing Flippendo at them.

After defeating the Rubber Ducks you then need to move the right hand crate next to the motor car display case, climb on top and use reparo on the fragments of the crate. You then need to drop the crate on top of the one you climbed up on (creating a double high crate). This can be used to climb up on to the bookshelf on the opposite wall.

Once on top of the bookshelf there is a stone dragon on which you cast Draconfors to reveal an archway behind a curtain. This leads you to the upper balcony of the Biplane room.

The Music room
When you enter there are some shelves ahead with a drunkit, to the left at the end of the room there are two chests, a book case and a record player which Hermione can repair (to win a card). On the right hand side there is a cauldron and the door to the Biplane room.
The Biplane room
This room is a large room with bookshelves around the edge and is inhabited by a ghoul (who you have to trick into going into the ante room with a grille on the right hand side. There are a number of items here which can be searched or Flippendoed

On the left hand side you can climb up where the balustrade is broken to get to the balcony. Here is a platform with a door – there is a jumping box here which you can Flippendo for a prize. Go through the door and you come into the balcony of the Rubber Duck room. Go around and go through the other door leading back to the Biplane room. At the other end of the balcony is a locked door.

If you are coming from the Rubber duck room, then you will enter this room from the upper balcony. If you go all the way around you will find a chest (with beans in it)

4th Floor – History of Magic

Study Area
This room has bookshelves in the middle and the sides, Flying books come and attack you (Hermione needs to cast the Snufflifors spell on them). As you enter the room there are some chairs with a table ahead, the bookshelf on the other side of the table and chairs can be opened by Ron to reveal the entrance to the secret passageway to the 7th floor.

On the other side of the room in the middle is the door to the 4th Floor Corridor. To the right on the far wall is a fireplace (where a card can be won by Hermione extinguishing the fire with her Glacius spell) and a stone dragon which Hermione can ignite with her draconifors spell to reveal a secret passageway to the second floor.

4th Floor Corridor
This room has two corridor like rooms to the left and right, it contains a number of bookshelves and vases. Opposite is a stink pellet challenge container. There is also a Crystal which Ron can energise with his Lumos spell. This opens up a secret chamber in the left hand corridor where ther is a chest.

4th Floor Corridor Left Side
There is a door at the end to the hospital wing, above the door is a stink pellet challenge container. On the left hand side is the secret chamber and the statue of Hengist of Woodcroft, there are bookshelves on the left side and a couple of vases.

The Hospital wing
Nothing much in here that I have found !

4th Floor Corridor Right Side
There is a door at the end to the history of magic classroom, on the left hand side is a chest and there are bookshelves and a couple of vases.

History of Magic Classroom
There are a number of Goblets & bookshelves in this classroom, there is also the statue of Beaumont Majoribanks.

On the same wall as the door is an ornate metal grille which Hermione can crawl under to get into a little room.

3rd Floor – Defence against the Dark Arts

3rd Floor Corridor
This is another library with lots of bookshelves to search. At night the suits of armour are guarding the place as is a Prefect who walks in the middle of the bookshelves.

In the middle section there is a stone dragon which will reveal a sloped corridor to the 2nd floor, where you will find a card. In the last section there is a stink pellet challenge container on the right and a door at the end on the left leading to the Gunhilda of Gorsemoor corridor.

The Gunhilda of Gorsemoor corridor
Ahead is the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom the corridor goes off to the left, where one goes down some steps to the main part of the corridor Gunhilda is at the end on the left just before the stairs going up to the second level. There are a number of suits of armour which guard the corridor at night.

The upper level of the Gunhilda of Gorsemoor Corridor
If you go up the stairs to the second level, there is a stone dragon which will set fire to the curtain revealing an door to the storeroom

The Store room has a chest in it, a cauldron and a door to the other side of the upper level. On going through the door, there is a chest on the other side which contains a card.

Harry can then hop over the gap using his Carpe Retractum spell, where there is another chest.

Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom

There are some cauldrons and a goblet in here, a chest at the top of the stairs leading to Lupins office and a stink pellet challenge container on the left hand side past the desks.

2nd Floor – Charms

2nd Floor Corridor
This is another library, with a door at the other end to the Charms Classroom. There is a secret passage (from the 3rd floor) behind the tapestry on the right hand side. At the other end of the room there is another tapestry (with a stone dragon next to it ) behind this is the secret passageway to the 4th floor.

Secret passageway (from 3rd Floor)
There are bookcases on wither side in the middle of the room, 4 flying books come and attack you from these. Further down there are a couple of vases and the slope from the 3rd floor is hidden behind a curtain.
Charms Classroom
This class room has pews on either side, at the end where the pews stop there is a magical book, which awakes when Hermione has turned it smaller flying book friends into mice. This book shoots fireballs which need to be returned to it using the expelliramus spell in order to defeat it.

At the far end on the left is a chest on top of a bookcase, this can be reached by Hermione mending the broken crate below, thus allowing you to climb up on top of the bookcase

In the middle of the room on ceiling on the right hand side is a lever which Harry can pull with his Carpe Retractum spell to reveal a secret room with a chest in it. The chest is full of beans, but 2 Flying books are also in the chest when they have been turned into mice, another chest appears at the front of the classroom.

There is also an entrance blocked by books … not sure if they can be moved !

1st floor – Transfiguration

1st floor corridor
This corridor has a statue of Gregory the smarmy in the middle of it (at night a prefect will be patrolling here). There are two secret chambers behind the statue, the one on the right can be opened by Ron and contains a stink pellet challenge container. The one on the left is opened by Harry casting his Carpe Retractum spell at the lever above to pull it doen.

Transfiguration classroom

Jut as you enter there are some bookshelves which you can climb up, at the top you can see a stink pellet challenge container, there is also one on the other side, you have to walk around the ledge to get it.

The Entrance Hall & Dungeons
The Entrance Hall
If you approach this from the Grand staircase, you end up at the top of the staircase. On the right is the entrance to the dungeons, on the left is the entrance to the Great Hall (where Duelling takes place) and ahead is the entrance to the grounds. By the staircase on the right hand side is the statue of Jocunda Sykes and between the entrance to the Great Hall and the door to the grounds is a stink pellet challenge container.

The Great Hall
I am sure there is a passageway to the right of the door, but I can’s seem to open it !

The Dungeons
You go down the staircase to the doorway to the dungeon corridor, through the doorway at the bottom and you are in the Dungeon Corridor

The Dungeon Corridor
This has two stink pellet challenge containers, and a number of suits of armour to guard it at night. Walking down the corridor, the Potions classroom is the first door on the left, further down is a storeroom, and at the end a metal grate. Just to the right of the grate (opposite the potions storeroom is a chest.

The Potions Storeroom

This room has a lot of searchable shelves, in the far right corner there is a statue of Hookey the House Elf, with a chest next to it. There are 4 Wiggenweld potion vials on the second bookshelf, the can be got by Hermione repairing the broken crate next to them.

The Potions Classroom
There is a stink pellet challenge container next to the door, a chest to the left and a number of cauldrons for you to flippendo.

Owl Racing
This takes place outside the stone circle as you go into the grounds from the castle. There is a stone plinth which you walk onto and from there you can start the game.

You have to fly through the rings and are racing against time and 3 other owls. The left joystick controls the movements and direction of the owl. You have to press the circle button to get the wings to flap (otherwise you get nowhere) this is a little difficult at first, but you eventually get the hang of it.

NB. When executing a sharp turn it is easier to flat the wings at the same time as this increases the responsiveness and allows you to make tighter turns.
Hippogriff Flight
This takes place Near Hagrid’s Hut, there is a stone plinth which you walk onto and from there you can start the game.

Firstly you have to stand in front of the Hippogriff and bow so that it will allow you to climb onto its back. The object of the game is to catch the bats which are flying around in a cloud (near where Hagrid and the others are standing). You have to catch all 20 of the bats to get an A+

The easiest way to get all of the bats is to fly through the cloud catching some bats, then brake, turnaround and fly back through the cloud repeatedly until you have caught them all.
Duelling Club
The duelling club takes place in the Great Hall and is started by going up to the prefect standing in the middle by the duelling ring.

Harry Ron and Hermione are a team which are duelling with three opponents, the character which you are in will be at the centre of your side when you start the duell.

When you win, you get goodies from you opponents such as Wiggenweld potion, Bertie Botts Beans (sometimes even a 10 bean bean !)

Folio Bruti
====================

This is the book describing the other creatures which you will come across. These profiles are taken directly from the game - the description is the
one given by the game in the Folio Bruti. The page location is where to
find the Folio Bruti Page. Defeated is how to defeat them.

DEMENTOR
Description: "The guards of Azkaban prison, Dementors are among the
foulest creatures that walk this earth"
Page Location: You get the page automatically after Professor Lupin
gives you the book on the Hogwarts Express.
Defeated: There are two ways of defeating a Dementor. The first is when
you cannot use the Patronus charm. Then you have to
repeatedly wiggle the Control Stick to release yourself from
the Dementor. The second is Expecto Patronum. Use the spell
and control the Patronus into a Dementor.

BILLYWIG
Description: "Billywigs are particularly difficult to catch. Dried
Billywig stings are used as ingredients in certain
             potions."
Page location: In the Glacius Challenge, in the room with the three
runes on the floor, at the top near the wall switch.
