Hint: Defeating Fatman:
After killing Fatman on the Helipad on Shell 1, he has one last bomb hidden. The
bomb is under him. You cannot diffuse it with him in your way. Unequip your weapon,
drag his body out of the way, and freeze it with the Coolant.
Information in this section was contributed by nagle10.

Its better to diffuse all the bombs first before you start this trick. After you
have diffused all the bombs,Fatman will start skating around the heliport. You can
either stand in one corner and start shooting at him and risk getting shot or run
over by him; or you can do it the easy way. Notice that there are four rows (or
columns) of crates on the heliport. Keep going straight and crawling under the very
last crate to your left. You can stay there and shoot Fatman from this location. If
he cannot see you, he will always stay behind one of the toolboxes. The crate you
are in has the best view of Fatman's head. Use your SOCOM (or M9 if you do not like
killing people) and start shooting at him. Five to seven shots is all you need if
you are a good marksman to diffuse Fatman and his final bomb.
Information in this section was contributed by Quinito.

Make sure you have a mine detector and claymores. When you start the battle, defuse
the first two bombs. Then, turn on your mine detector and lay claymores all over. If
Fatman skates over a claymore he will fall on the ground and take damage. You should
then be able to shoot him in the head twice with the SOCOM or M9. Repeat this until
he is dead.
Information in this section was contributed by Jim Kortbus.

After defusing all of his bombs and he is shooting at you, look at the crates to the
left . Go to the third crate and go under it. You will see Fatman in the corner to
the left. Shoot him, then crawl out from under the crate. Go back in and repeat this
until he has been defeated.
Information in this section was contributed by Aero10Mike.

Defuse all of the bombs. When he starts to skate around, hide underneath one of the
steel bins so that you can see and hit him with your gun . Shoot and hit him in the
head about five to seven times.
Information in this section was contributed by ChrisKleemop9.

Hint: Defeating Fortune:
After you meet her, go to Heliport of Strut E Roof quickly. When you first meet her.
it is not really a battle, since you cannot hurt her. Just wait for the elevator to
come back down.
Information in this section was contributed by Trevor Doolen.

To defeat Fortune under the extreme difficulty setting, hide in one of the boxes you
get on the Plant mission. Run back and forth. Fortune will not be able to hit you as
long as you are moving with the box on you. It is best to wait for her to fire
before turning around.
Information in this section was contributed by Iriqouis Pliskin.

To defeat Fortune under the extreme difficulty setting, your only chance is dodging.
Timing could not be more crucial than ever in this fight. The best way is to do all
the dodging in the beginning. Flip side to side every time she is about to fire. In
case you get hit, you can have some cover to charge your health back up.
Information in this section was contributed by CaptD2.

Hint: Defeating Olga:
Shoot the tarp before Olga does, then shoot out the spotlight also so she cannot
blind you with it.
Information in this section was contributed by Isaih1313 and Grub Fisher.

Defeating Olga under the extreme difficulty setting can be quite challenging. Some
of the tactics that work on the other modes will not work on extreme. You cannot
shoot out the light or the strings of the tarp. Start by using the "hide and seek"
method -- when she is not looking, dive to another part of the area. She will keep
shooting in the same place. When she shoots up the tarp, hit her once and then she
will shoot it away -- the only way to do this is to be fast (try to get her while
she is moving). Remember, when she is using the tarp or light, she automatically
knows where you are, so do not rely on the "hide and seek" method. Once she starts
using the light, you have to get her while she is not shooting. Start behind the
boxes on the right, wait until she stops shooting to throw a grenade, then quickly
jump behind the boxes on the left. Do not worry if she sees you. She will stop to
shoot the light to point it in your direction again. While she is doing this, try to
get a shot off on her while the light is not in your face. Repeat this method until
you win.
Information in this section was contributed by Matt Lustig.

As soon as you start the fight with Olga under the extreme difficulty setting, you
will see two boxes on the ground with two boxes on top of them on the right side.
Between the two boxes on the ground is a crack. Lay down (not just kneel) and look
through it. Olga will see you down there and begin aiming at you. At this point, go
into first person view and shoot her in the head. Next she will keep going left and
right on either side of the crack. Enough of her body sticks out of the side for you
to shoot her. Keep repeating this quickly and she will not shoot the tarp or the
light. During the entire battle, she just goes left and right on either side of the
crack. When she is on either side, you must shoot her quickly or she will throw a
grenade through the crack.
Information in this section was contributed by Tommy Bonderenka.

Hint: Defeating the Harrier Jet:
This is an easy battle. Just use your stinger missile to take it down.
Information in this section was contributed by Trevor Doolen.

Under the extreme difficulty setting, the beginning of the battle is fairly simple.
Stand by the stairs, flip down when the jet fires, and retaliate when possible. When
it starts to hover over you, quickly shoot the tail end of the jet until it flies
away. If you decreased its damage to the halfway point, then it will fire missiles
that destroy part of the bridge. You can dodge this by going downstairs and
squatting in between the first box and the wire railing. It should return with a
missile strike from far away. You should have the stinger out and ready to fire as
soon as it appears. The easiest way to avoid this is to hang off the railing in the
direction of where the Harrier flew to. When the beeps get very close together,
either drop down to the bottom or pull yourself back up. You will be invincible
during both instances. The Harrier will do one of four things; the first attack at
the beginning of the battle, the missile attack from far away, a continuous machine
gun fire spray (it will fly over Shell 2 if this occurs), and a continuous missile
battery assault (it will usually fly under the bridge if this occurs). To dodge
machine gun fire, go all the way by the Shell 2 doorway. There is like a small
orange rectangle formed there. Go to the right side of this rectangle and duck down.
However, if you are too close to the walls the bullets will penetrate and hit you.
To handle the missile battery, wait with your stinger pointed in the direction it
always pops up from, then blast it once very quickly. After you shoot it, go in
between the first and second floor of the bridge and lay down. Crawl up and down
(depending in which direction he is firing the missiles). If they are down, then up;
if up then down.
Information in this section was contributed by CaptD2.

Hint: Defeating the Metal Gear RAY Army:
Use the following tactics when fighting the army of Metal Gear RAYs:
Information in this section was contributed by nagle10.

Do not focus on only one RAY at a time. You may kill it quickly, but then the other
two will be in the arena with full health and become much harder to kill. It is
better to divide attacks up evenly between the first three on the outside, so when
they all come in they will be almost dead.
Do not worry about running out of ammunition. As long as you constantly run from
missile attacks, you will pick up ammo boxes with ten missiles in each. Also, this
is the last battle that the stinger is required, so you do not need to save any.
As you may see throughout the battle, usually when you use a ration another appears
in the middle. Do not rely on this for the entire battle. Only about three or four
will appear, and then no more.
Do not take chances at the beginning of the battle. You will use up most, of if not
all, the rations given to you and towards at the end you will be in some trouble. If
you have less than full health, a lot of rations, or want to live dangerously at the
end of the battle, take every shot you get.
If you get hit with a missile there will probably be one or two more about to hit
you, depending on where they were launched. You have probably noticed that the last
one or two will not do damage. However, if two RAYs launch missiles near the same
time, if you get hit by the first set you should stay on the ground and the second
set also will not hurt you.
When a RAY is using its machine gun and covering its face, if you are fast or have
time to shoot one of its knees, the attack will stop and he will be down for a few
seconds for a good head shot.
If a RAY is doing its strange roar (where he opens his mouth and blue light comes
out), shoot a missile up his mouth. It will do more damage than a normal attack, up
to almost half of his health will be taken away. Note: This does not refer to the
blue laser attack he does when you are near -- it is the thing that he cannot hurt
you with.
Immediately when the battle starts, shoot a missile at the middle RAY, then the one
on the right, then on the left. The middle and right RAYs will use their machine
guns, but the left one will usually still be open for attack. The one on the left
should be RAY-RO3E. Try to eliminate this one, then take the other two down.
However, damage them all equally.
You only really have to kill four Metal Gears instead of the average six that people
kill until it ends. Look for the RAY with the name RAY-ROSE. It is the fifth RAY,
and the only one that is not numbered. He will be easier to kill in the background
when the fourth RAY is the main man in the center. He may take no longer, but at
least he will not shoot the knee-missiles, which are usually the deadliest weapons.
Also, RAY 4 will be get confused because when chasing RAY-ROSE you be running around
RAY 4. He will not hit you with anything and then RAY 3 or RAY 6 will just shoot the
high missiles which usually will not hit a good player. After you kill RAY-ROSE an
intermission sequence will begin and you will have completed the hardest part of the
game. Note: Make sure you have about an hour of free time for the intermission to
view it all.
Shoot Metal Gear RAY in the leg (one of the targets off to the side), then quickly
shoot him in the head when you can lock on to him with your Stinger missile. This
will take almost half of their energy, making it much easier to defeat him.
Information in this section was contributed by GUMBY25437.
Hit his knee, then his head. Hitting his knee will cause him to go down on one knee
and scream. When he is on one knee and screaming, fire a Stinger missile into his
mouth. That will cause double damage. Note: This combo might be interrupted by
another Metal Gear RAY firing missiles at you. -- dodge the missiles and repeat the
process.
Information in this section was contributed by Dead316Man.
Hint: Defeating Olga:
Although Olga may seem difficult at first, she is actually really easy. Throughout
the fight it is probably best that you use the third-person view. Once she targets
you, wait for her to take cover, then do a dive roll to move around her to the other
side. If she did not see you, she will think you are still where you were and you
can approach from behind her. Whenever she uses the tarp for cover, shoot the black
plate it is tied to and it will blow away. Repeat this and do not forget to get her
dog tag after she is KO'd. Also, climb to the top of the mast for the thermal
goggles.
Information in this section was contributed by Trevor Doolen.

Hint: Defeating Solidus Extreme:
Good sword skill is required for this tactic. Any hesitation or slight mistake will
cost you a one third of your health. The first part of the battle is simple. Run in
a circle when he tries to jab you with a tentacle. When he jabs, slice him
horizontally or vertically, then jab. If you knock him down after one quarter or so
of his life is gone, he will retaliate with missiles. These missiles can be dodged
by hanging off the ledge. If he tries to attack you from jumping off a building,
just flip out of the way. He has three different sets of sword attacks. He will
either do a vertical slash, a fast horizontal slash, or a slow horizontal slash. He
is open to attack from the first two attack types. If he tries to sweep you off your
feet with his tentacles, keep your distance. If he happens to grab you with a
tentacle, press Triangle and quickly move the Analog-stick from side to side. After
about half his health is gone, he will ditch the tentacles and jet across the
rooftop, ending with either an elbow jam or sword attacks. Finding an open attack is
almost impossible at this point. When he jets he will leave fire behind in his wake.
Avoid it or flip over it. His sword attacks are also faster. In addition to the slow
horizontal slashes, he throws in a jab either immediately after or soon after. The
best time to attack is when he does a jab. As soon as he jabs, run close and use
your jab to throw him off balance. In this short attack window, run close and slice
him twice followed by a quick jab. If done successfully, he will fall down. When he
gets up he will dash at you, but this is easily predictable. When he is running
across the screen, stay by the walls so he cannot surround you with fire. When he
tries to attack, flip out of the way. Repeat and he will be defeated in no time.
Information in this section was contributed by CaptD2.

Hint: Identify Ames:
Do not do anything to the patrolling guard. Just do the following when he is not
looking. Ames is a man with black hair and is not bald at all. His heart will beep
with the Directional Mic, so do not be confused by any other thuds -- just listen
for the beep.
Information in this section was contributed by nagle10.

Hint: Finding Ames:
When you are in the room with all the hostages, use a book next to the counter with
all the plates and apples on it. Then, shoot one of the plates with your M9 to get
the guard to investigate. He will see the book, then drop down and read it. While he
is reading, he will not need to check in. You can now find Ames more easily.
Information in this section was contributed by jstemple.

Hint: Get Vamp out of the water:
Use the following trick to get Vamp out if the water when youbattle in the
filtration chamber. Fire the Stinger at the water when Vamp is swimming. His O2
gauge will go down faster. When he comes up, he will try to run to you and attack.
Fire another Stinger at the ground near him to take off some life and get him back
in the water.
Information in this section was contributed by pohai kaliloa.

Hint: AKS-74u Suppresser:
Once you defeat the Harrier, hang, cross, then drop to a pipe. Close to the other
end of the pipe, do a cartwheel onto the north part of the destroyed catwalk. It
takes time, try only tapping X. Collect the ammo if needed, then put out the fire
near the doorway (with help from Mr. X). You have now found the suppresser.
Information in this section was contributed by Travis Morgan.

Hint: Bullet Proof Vest:
The Bullet Proof Vest is located in the flooded section before and after finding
Emma. Do not enter the hall that leads to Emma. Instead, go to the end of the
passage. Either the dead end hall to your left or the room to your right contains
them. Avoid the mines by using the mine detector.
Information in this section was contributed by Travis Morgan.

Hint: Coolant:
You can wake guards up with coolant by spraying it in their face. Shoot directly at
the lens of a camera to disable it. Use coolant to disable bombs, such as the first
one in Strut D. Spray coolant into an enemy's face, and he will not be able to see
for a while.
Information in this section was contributed by EXTERNALDRAGON.

You can use Coolant to see laser beams. Use it on the bathroom mirrors and see what
happens. Also, use it on the green bird and listen what it has to say.
Information in this section was contributed by Onmymind.

Hint: Digital camera:
Successfully complete the game. The digital camera will be available when a new game
is started.
Information in this section was contributed by EXTERNALDRAGON.

The digital camera is locate in Strut E Shell 1. Go to the bottom of the screen and
locate the platform with three red lights on it. Climb up onto it and equip the
Z.O.E. Box. When the conveyor stops, press Action to climb on. You will be taken to
another room. Press Action again to get off and retrieve the Digital Camera. Exit
the room in the same fashion.
Information in this section was contributed by Cruentas.

Hint: Dog tags and other items:
In order to get dog tags from enemies, you have to hold enemies up and aim at their
head or crotch in first person view. This will make them shake, giving up their
tags. Do not bother trying to get the extra guard's dog tags that appear on red
alert mode. To make sure the guards have dog tags take out your Thermal Goggles to
see them.
Information in this section was contributed by EXTERNALDRAGON.

To hold up a soldier, sneak up on them, and when close, aim the gun at them. Your
character will tell them to freeze. You can get items from them by pointing the gun
at their face or crotch. To get the item or dog tag from a person who says something
like "Are you going to shoot me or what". Pull out the real pistol (not the
tranquilizer) and shoot them in the arm or foot. Then, once again point at their
head and they will give you their dog tag or items.
Information in this section was contributed by Justin.

When holding up a guard that says "Are you going to shoot me or not?" or "What are
you?" take out a SOCOM and shoot him in the arm. He will become afraid of losing his
life and shake for you, and doing so will be give up his dog tag.
Information in this section was contributed by RoCaWeAr and ellsworths.

Upon obtaining the stealth suit, which you can receive after getting most of the dog
tags under the very easy, easy, and normal difficulty in the Tanker missions, you
can become invisible and hold up an enemy. Note: This also unlocks the Digital
Camera and Bandana, but just for the Tanker missions. Since the enemy does not see
you, he will remain in the hold up position indefinitely, or at least until you
become visible and are not holding the gun. When the guard is in hold up position
and you are invisible, you can put the gun away, walk around, choke him, and do just
about anything you want. Be careful not to bump him while invisible, or you will
lose your stealth camouflage and will have to re-arm it -- and he will be out of the
hold up position and will be in alert mode.
Information in this section was contributed by Justin.

After getting the Coolant, you can use it to wake up guards. After tranquilizing a
guard, position yourself in front of him. Use the Coolant to wake him up, then use
your M9 or SOCOM to hold him up aim at his crotch or head to force him to give up
his dog tag. This trick is useful for guards you cannot get near to hold up.
Information in this section was contributed by Wallace Doster.

Wait until an enemy turns around and begins walking away from your character. Equip
the weapon of your choice and follow behind the enemy. As you near, quickly go into
first person mode and aim at the enemy. At this point you are behind the enemy and
your character will yell "Freeze!" Keep your weapon drawn (if using the M3 keep
Square held while releasing R1), then hold L1 to run while ready to fire your
weapon. You can run straight through the guard to face him in the front by turning
around quickly. The guard should still be in the "held up" position if done fairly
quickly (and with your gun still drawn). Proceed with the normal method of shaking
him down from here.
Information in this section was contributed by leviathan.

To get items and dog tags from stubborn enemies, use any method you wish to get the
enemy in the "held up" position. If the enemy refuses to shake at all, you might
have to shoot a limb to prove you are serious. Note: This does not work with M3, as
it will just put the enemy to sleep. Also, shooting between the legs or to the side
of the person also proves you are serious. If that does not work, knock the enemy
out and return with a larger and more powerful weapon.
Information in this section was contributed by leviathan.

After getting dog tags from an enemy, use your scope on them if you encounter them
later. Press Triangle (Action) and the game will show you the name on the dog tag,
letting you know that you already have that one.
Information in this section was contributed by Sparky3860.

Sneak up besides an enemy or in back of him. Press Square to get him in a head lock
hold. Then, move to an area where he is not near a wall. Press Square a few times so
he will quit moving. Release and run around to the front and aim at his head. Wait
until he gets up, and he will give you his dog tag. If for some reason he does not,
take your gun off and kill him quickly or knock him out. You can also use this
method by keeping him in a head lock for a long time until he passes out. Then, just
wait for him to wake up.
Information in this section was contributed by jon k.

Hint: Peter Stillman's dog tag:
After you defeat Fatman, pick him up and drag him. You will eventually get the dog
tag.
Information in this section was contributed by Gregory Runnels.

Hint: Olga's dog tag:
After getting the gun from Olga, pick her up and drop her. She will reveal her dog
tag.
Information in this section was contributed by DELIGHTFUL91.

Hint: Snake's dog tag:
During this "battle" you are supposed to get his dog tags, which are supposedly very
hard to collect. They are actually the easiest to obtain. Just walk up to him and
get him in the choke hold. Do not kill him, but knock him out. Shake his body and
they will fall out.
Information in this section was contributed by nagle10.

Before entering the round room near the end of Arsenal Gear, Snake will follow you.
Shoot Snake with the tranquilizer gun to put him to sleep. Pick Snake up and drop
him. He will leave his dog tags behind. To wake him up, use the Coolant spray.

You can obtain the dog tag belonging to Meryl from Metal Gear Solid while playing
through the game under the easy difficulty setting. Once you meet up with Snake
inthe long hallway of Arsenal Gear, knock him out. Pick him up then shake him down
to obtain Meryl's dog tag.
Information in this section was contributed by leviathan.

Knock out Snake under the very easy difficulty setting to get Iriquoi Pliskin's dog
tag; easy difficulty setting to get Meryl's dog tag; and normal difficulty setting
to get Snake's actual dog tag.
Information in this section was contributed by Travis Morgan.

When you get the dog tag from Snake under the hard difficulty setting, you will
receive Liquid Snake's dog tag. When this is done under the extreme difficulty
setting, you will receive Hideo Kojima's dog tag.
Information in this section was contributed by Akira and SHAGGY.

Hint: Dog tag viewer:
Successfully complete the game. Select the "Dog Tag Viewer" option at the "Special"
menu to see where a missing dog tag is located.

Hint: M9:
The M9 can be found under the normal difficulty setting in the upper level of Strut
F, in the room that does not require card key. It is easiest to cross over from
Strut A and remain on the top level of the bridge. It will be the second door.
Information in this section was contributed by jstemple.

Hint: Night Vision Goggles:
The Night Vision Goggles are located in the enclosed room of B1 Shell 2. Enter the
water, go right, go left into doorway, go to the bottom right of the room.
Information in this section was contributed by Travis Morgan.

Hint: Posters:
In the first chapter, go into one of the lockers with posters in them and close the
door. Look down at the poster and press R1. Snake will make a kissing sound.
Information in this section was contributed by WhoCares79117339.

Get out of the locker and face directly at the poster. Hold R1 and while continuing
to hold that button, press Select to call Otacon. Snake and Otacon will have a funny
conversation.
Information in this section was contributed by WhoCares79117339.

Open up the lockers with the posters of Japanese models in them. Keep the door open
and press up against it. Tap the poster model's head and chest. Then, duck down and
tap the power model's crotch. Snake's crotch will be marked with a "!".

Opening a locker and if there is a girl poster inside, knock on it. The alarm will
go off and guards will enter the room.
Information in this section was contributed by TAKERZ421.

To distract a guard, open a locker with a picture of a girl in it. When enemies are
searching for you, they will look at the picture instead. This is useful when you
are being chased. Note: This will not work if you are seen while they are looking at
the poster.
Information in this section was contributed by Matthew John Charles K.

If you knock out a guard with an M9 as soon as he sees a poster and listen in with
the Directional Mic, he will moan and make the sound of a kiss in his sleep.
Information in this section was contributed by WaterBoyy51.

Hint: PSG1-T:
The PSG1-T can be found under the normal difficulty setting in the flooded bottom of
the Shell 2 Core, in the room that Peter Stillman's dead body floats out of when you
open the door. Swim to the other end of the room and open the door. Next, go up for
a breath of air. Then, go back into the room and swim to the top left of the end.
There should be a hole that you can get through in the rubble. Inside is the PSG1-T.
It is a tranquilizer version of the PSG1.
Information in this section was contributed by jstemple.

Hint: Retina Scanner:
To get through the Retina Scanner, go behind a guard, get him in the chokehold, but
do not kill him. Drag him to the scanner and move the Analog-Stick so the guard's
face is towards the scanner.
Information in this section was contributed by nagle10.

Hint: Shaver:
When you start the Plant episode, hang over the ledge facing the pool. Jump off and
get the Shaver. When you first meet Snake, Raiden will give Snake the Shaver. Snake
will now look different in the intermissions.

up as a white dog tag on a chain around their neck.
Information in this section was contributed by TrojanSk8er1.

Hint: USP Suppresser:
The Suppresser for the USP can be obtained after completing the game once. It can be
found on the stern of the tanker.
Information in this section was contributed by Corporal Shepard.

Hint: Wigs:
Get 50 or more dog tags under the very easy, easy, or normal difficulty settings to
get a brown wig. It allows unlimited ammunition, but does not prevent reloading. Get
150 or more dog tags under the hard difficulty setting to get an orange wig. It
allows infinite grip. Get all the dog tags to get a blue wig. It allows unlimited
oxygen when underwater.
Information in this section was contributed by Bing, nagle10, and Dun250-Ers250.

Hint: Stealth, Bandanna and Wig bonuses:
Complete the following goals to get the Stealth (invisibility), Bandanna (unlimited

Hint: Plant mission: Snake in box:
In the Plant chapter, after you meet with Stillman for the first time (in Strut C)
and he gives you Sensor A, run outside and head towards Strut D. You will see an
unconscious guard, and Snake trying to escape in a cardboard box. If you try to get
close to him, he will make a break and run for it. Alternatively, start blasting
away at the box. He will also start running away, but shreds of the box(es) will be
left behind.
Information in this section was contributed by Bernard Luk.

Hint: Plant mission: Getting through Arsenal Gear:
To get through the room with the RAYS, hide behind the crates until the enemies look
away. Go up the stairs in the north-west part of the room and go across the closest
connecting bridge. You should be in the northeast part of the room on the second
floor. Knock out the enemy and enter the door behind him. Once you get in, answer
some of the calls for laughs. You should get a call from Rose, and then Snake will
come in the room and return your clothes. It is obvious what needs to be done after
this.
Information in this section was contributed by Matthew John Charles K.

Hint: Plant mission: Auto-transportation:
Try to find every Box in the Plant, then go to the Strut E parcel room. Tranquilize
the guards and hop on to the conveyer belt. Get in a box and it will send you to

who are in the room with the commander and they will all be in their underwear.
Information in this section was contributed by elijah hicks.

Hint: Tanker mission: Knock out all the Marines:
Go to the part of the mission with all the Marines watching the slides. Equip your
M9 and you can knock them all out. If you stay to the side of each row you will not
be seen. Make sure to get a good headshot to avoid alerting them. You can even hold
up Marines, but they will not give up anything. Make sure you use the M9 to avoid
detection and try to make the entire floor fall asleep. It helps if you have the
Bandanna or Stealth Suit. Note: The game will start to run very slow after about
half the Marines are asleep.
Information in this section was contributed by meoff jack.

Hint: Tanker mission: See Revolver Ocelot:
When you are in the room with Metal Gear RAY and the Marines go into the ventiation
shaft, behind Metal Gear, and you be able to see Ocelot before he takes over and
destroys the ship. Note: This obviously cannot be done after submitting your photos
of RAY to Otacon.
Information in this section was contributed by nagle10.

Hint: Tanker mission: Secret route to Metal Gear RAY hold:
When the commandant begins his speech, after going down the ladder, head to the left
of the room. Under the ladder on the left side is a small hatch that can be opened.
It leads to an air duct which will take you to the other end of the room. There is
another hatch in Hold 2. Take the one on the right. A guard will drop a clip in
front of you. This duct leads to an area directly underneath Metal Gear RAY. Crawl
through the air duct on the right to get to a ladder, which takes you directly in
front of the "MARINES" insignia on the side. Slide down the pole in front of you to
get to the ground floor.
Information in this section was contributed by Akira and SHAGGY.

There is a second secret route to the Metal Gear RAY hold. Go to the first section
of the Metal Gear RAY holds. Climb the ladder on the right side. Flip over and hang
on the edge. Go all the way to the right until you get to the end. Flip back over go
through the door. Do the same thing until you get to the next door. You should now
be above everybody, and at eye level with Metal Gear RAY. Note: You can also do this
on the right ladder, but there is a guard in your way.
Information in this section was contributed by Symace and bgesley.

Hint: Tanker mission: Exploding poster girl:
There is a picture of a "poster girl" in the engine room, to the south (which is why
the guard uses his binoculars to a wall). If you shoot her, the picture will
explode, causing you to enter alert mode.
Information in this section was contributed by Travis Morgan and tdoerner2.

There is another exploding poster girls in the engine room. Enter from the right
side, go down to the bottom level, and head to the back (north) of the room. It will
be on the left (west) wall below the platform. Shooting this picture also causes an
explosion. If you take pictures of these, Otacon will blush and make a "backup".
Information in this section was contributed by henson.

Hint. Tanker mission: Blushing Otacon:
On the south wall of the engine room in the tanker is a picture. Look at it with the
Digital Camera, zoom in, and take a picture of it. When you get to the bow where
Metal Gear is housed, send it to him. He will tell you that it is a nice picture and
that he is going to make a copy. Look at his cheeks while he is talking about it to
see him blush.
Information in this section was contributed by Mocarov470 and hotbrother1115.

Hint: Tanker mission: Toy pellets:
When you see the toy in front of the flashlight, shoot it. It will start to shoot
small pellets all over the floor.

Hint: Tanker mission: Cables:
There are many cables in the tanker that you can hang from. One is in the engine
room just outside the room with the Vulcan Raven figure. Hang over the small railing
and move across to get to the other side. The other cables are in Hold 1 on the
second level, one from right to left, the other across the left side.
Information in this section was contributed by Akira and SHAGGY.

Hint: Tanker mission: Hold 2 screens:
When you enter Hold 2, shoot all the guards in line with your M9 (including the one
wearing the helmet). Press Action near the projectors repeatedly, and a clip of a
woman should appear at first (the poster girl), then the second should follow. Note:
You will be caught.
Information in this section was contributed by Magnum.

Hint: Tanker mission: Good hiding location:
You are often spotted in the room where you see the man's shadow. He is not the
problem, but if you are spotted there is no place to hide. Go south and stay ahead
of your enemies. There is a tiny location with a locker in the southern-most part of
the room. It is a great hiding area. If you stay there, the enemies will keep moving
as if you are still running around. You can now hide in the locker. If the enemies
are too close to you, this will not work.
Information in this section was contributed by Matthew John Charles K..

Hint: Tanker mission: Scared guard:
When you enter Deck 2, after you pass the engine room port, go to the third opening
on the right. Press R2(2) and a pipe will fall and the guard will be scared. Another
guard will appear and you will not get caught.
Information in this section was contributed by THEROCK41231.

Hint: Tanker mission: Take a picture of Ocelot:
Go in the ventilation shafts, all the way to the sliding pole where you will see
Ocelot standing. Be careful not to look away at first or he will disappear. After
getting to the area where you slide down the pole, equip your Digital Camera. Zoom
in on Ocelot just to get a good picture. Then go to the computer to submit the
photo. Otacon will make a funny movement.
Information in this section was contributed by NIKJAMESC.

Hint: Tanker mission: Hideo Kojima picture:
When in the hold of the ship, in the second room where Marines are (the room with
two screens), take a picture of the screen on the right while it is on. A "ghost
outline" of Hideo Kojima will appear on the screen. Save this photo and Otocan will
react strongly when he views it.
Information in this section was contributed by Alpha Trion.

Hint: Weird sayings from Emma:
Knock Emma out or hit her with a M3 dart. She will begin to say things much as her
pet parrot does. She says such things as "Hal..." and "Venus in Cancer".
Information in this section was contributed by leviathan.

Hint: Easy way to get Emma through the water:
Before you go underwater, shoot her with a M9 Tranquilizer. She will be sleeping
under water as you take her through. Each time when you get up spray her with
Coolant so she wakes up.
Information in this section was contributed by hotbrother1115.

Hint: Changing room names:
When you first enter Arsenal Gear through the orange door, go back as soon as you
enter. Go back through the door and repeat this at least five times. Look at the
name of the room you entered. It will change each time and will have some very odd
names.

When on the Plant mission, after getting the SOCOM, go to the roof of strut A. Use
your M9 to put the birds to sleep when they land, then shoot them with the SOCOM.
After killing enough birds, you will get a call asking if you are done being mean to
the birds.
Information in this section was contributed by jstemple , Mocorov470, and elijah
hicks.
Look at the bugs in the Plant mission and call the Colonel (140.85) to get an
explanation of why they are there.
Information in this section was contributed by jstemple.
Keep calling people on the Codec to get more story elements. Keep calling until they
give you control tips, or repeat themselves a few times. This works at a number of
times in the game -- try it after every major plot point.
Information in this section was contributed by jstemple.
When you are in the B1 level of the Shell 1 Core (the room where the hostages are
being kept), try to do a flip to knock out at least three of the hostages. After a
while you will receive a call from your CO and Rose saying what a mean person you
are for harming those poor defenseless hostages.
Information in this section was contributed by Quinito and Jiffpeanutbutter.
Immediately after you first meet Pliskin, stay in the room where he is sleeping on
the stairs and call him on the Codec (141.80). He will be asleep and Raiden will
watch him. Call a few more times to hear him dreaming about Meryl and Liquid Snake.
Information in this section was contributed by Akira.
After you get the BDU, call Rose and she will start saying funny things.
Information in this section was contributed by Matthew John Charles K..
In the Tanker mission, before you have to take pictures of Metal Gear RAY, take a
few of some moments that you encounter. For instance, if you take a picture of the
Raven toy and submit it in the computer in the room where the commander is speaking,
Otacon will say some interesting things.
Information in this section was contributed by Vincent A Farias.
When Emma is crossing between the struts, use the Directional Mic at her as she goes
behind the first one. You will hear her talking about Raiden. When she comes from
behind the strut, call her on the Codec to talk about what she just said.
Information in this section was contributed by jstemple.
Call Otacon as Snake for a while. Otacon will repeat one of Mei Ling's sayings from
Metal Gear Solid and say it wrong. You will hear her correct him.
Information in this section was contributed by nagle10.

During the Plant mission, while in the dining hall, go to the men's bathroom (the
one on the left as you enter). Go to the urinals and face the one on the right. Use
first person view, then call the Colonel. Also do the same at the last commode to
the right in the ladies' bathroom to reveal Raiden's dilemma.
Information in this section was contributed by Chris .......
If you play the game for about five hours straight, Campbell and Rose will call on
the Codec hinting that you have been playing the game too long.
When you enter Arsenal Gear, go up the first set of stairs on the right. Soon after
you get to the top, the Colonel will call you on the Codec. He will talk to you
about things that have nothing to do with the game. Call him a few times and you can
listen to all the odd things he has to say, such as turn off the console, rescue
president Baker (who is not in the game), and something about rose and a man walking
out of her apartment and them looking "in love". Once you complete the level you
will find out why the Colonel is saying those things.
Information in this section was contributed by J.J and Hardyz2daxtreme2.
In the hangar of Arsenal, the Colonel will start to say funny things. If you wait
after a few of his silly calls and then call him, you will get a nice screen of a
Japanese model showing off. There is another screen of a Japanese model if you wall
hug the south door in the long corridor off of the hangar.
Information in this section was contributed by WaterBoyy51.
After defeating the Harrier, hang over the rail, walk down the pipe, jump over
another rail, and jump down. After you jump down, two guards will appear. Shoot each
of them in the head without them seeing you. Go down the catwalk and climb the
ladder. There will be another pair of guards that you have to kill. Kill them both
without them seeing you. When you make your way around the building, a guard will
appear and start urinating. Stand underneath him then call the Colonel for a funny
conversation.
Information in this section was contributed by DizzboiJ and Scooby7608.
Hint: Codec story elements:
After you first meet with Pliskin, you can call him on the Codec and he will give
you information about the members of Dead Cell. For example, you will learn that
when Vamp was a young boy, his family was killed in a church and he was trapped
under rubble for days. He had to feed off of his family's blood in order to survive.
They call him "Vamp" because he is bisexual. As a matter of fact, he and Fortune's
father, Commander Dolph (the person with the seven minute long speech) were lovers.
Information in this section was contributed by Akira and SHAGGY.

Hint: Directional Microphone:
Throughout the game there are points that if you take the Directional Microphone
away from where it is supposed to be pointed at to hear other funny things.

Urinating hostage
Go to Shell 1 and go to the B1 floor (where the retinal scanner is located). Go
through the retinal scanner and go to the right side of the room. When the guard is
not looking, bend down and use the directional microphone on one of the hostages (it
varies). The hostage will urinate, if it is not Ames.
Information in this section was contributed by Alexander Y.
Guard in bathroom
When you are listening to the conversation between Ocelot and Solidus with your
Directional Mic, press Left to point the mic at the bathroom. You will be able to
listen to a very humorous scene where Johnny (the guard with the upset stomach while
you are in the cell in Metal Gear Solid) is having problems on the toilet.
Information in this section was contributed by EXTERNALDRAGON, Justin, and cooldbz.
Emma conversations
Point the Direction Mic at Emma as she crosses the bridge to hear her saying a

Hostage name
In the Core of Shell 1 is a girl who has brown hair with no gag covering her mouth
like the other hostages. Use the Directional Mic on her and she tell you her name is
Jennifer. If you ask her again, she will tell you to get away.
Information in this section was contributed by Hyper.
Hint: Snake attacks:
When you and Snake are sniping partners protecting Emma, move your weapon so it
points to Strut F. You will see someone laying down. This is Snake. Although you are
not supposed to shoot him, try it and he will shoot back at you.
Information in this section was contributed by nagle10.

When you are fighting Snake with the blade inside Arsenal Gear, you are not supposed
to kill or slice him. Try it and he will fight back or shoot you.
Information in this section was contributed by nagle10.

At the Big Shell, go around and get to the Vamp scene. After Snake is cut on the
arm, he will sit at the bottom of the staircase in that room. You can point your gun
at him and he will respond by pointing his gun at you and saying, "You think you can
shoot that thing?" If you have your M9 out, shoot him to put him to sleep. You can
shoot him with the SOCOM but you cannot kill him. If you shoot him with the M9,
punch and kick him to wake him up. After he is up, keep kicking and punching him. He
will eventually shoot you with his M16. To skip all of that just, shoot him with the
SOCOM. To stop him from shooting you, just put him to sleep again.
Information in this section was contributed by Perg.

Hint: Crouching Snake:
Get in a box in an enemy's path. He will flip the box, but if you equip something
else for the box (Stealth recommended) and walk away, Snake will be crouch and walk
at the same time. To return to normal, just equip something else.
Information in this section was contributed by Matthew John Charles K.

Hint: Instant sleep:
Under the normal, hard, and extreme difficulty settings, the sentries do not sleep
instantly with the tranquilizer gun. Try to hit them and run to them. You may be
able to give them the punch, punch, kick, kick combo and they will automatically be
knocked out.
Information in this section was contributed by Cyber_Ph@ntom.

Hint: Seagull attack:
Go to the roof of Strut A and aim at the flying seagulls. Try shooting one out of
the air. After doing this for a while, one of the fallen birds will use a "radio" to
call for back-up. The radar will go into warning mode, and if you look up, there
will be a lot of birds flying around. Keep looking up in first person view, a bird
will "drop a bomb" on the lens.
Information in this section was contributed by Paul Krzywicki.

Hint: Killing seagulls:
In the Plant mission with Jack/Raiden, go to the roof after you see Snake going up
the elevator. Stand near the rail and shoot a bird with the M9 Tranquilizer. Punch

dress up like an enemy solider (uniform and gun). The enemies will walk past you.
Information in this section was contributed by DSurma3210.

Hint: Stopping alarms:
Use the M9 so enemies cannot hear the gun shots. Shoot the radio transmitter at the
back of a soldier. You will see some sparks coming from it, indicated that it is
ruined. When he sees you, he will try to call for backup but will realize that it is
not working.
Information in this section was contributed by Onmymind.

Hint: Tranq sword:
Press the weapon button (Square) with the sword equipped. Raiden turns the sword
around and you can hit people with the blunt side of the blade. This is called a
blunt strike. It is possible to kill zero during the game.
Information in this section was contributed by Travis Morgan.

Hint: One hit knockout:
Hold up an enemy, look down at his groin, and hit him for a one hit knockout. This
trick also works from behind.
Information in this section was contributed by scopion1.

Hint: Sniper zoom:
The new sniper PSG-1s have a zoom similar to using the scope. This is useful on the
oil fence battle with Vamp/Emma and helps in hitting mines from long range.
Information in this section was contributed by Travis Morgan.

Hint: Getting bugs off Rations:
If you find a bug on your rations, quickly tap L2 multiple times until it comes off.
This may take a while, so be patient. If you do not get it off it will occasionally
eat one of your rations, and may eventually fall off on its own.
Information in this section was contributed by leviathan.

Hint: Splattering bugs:
Use a explosive weapon (such as a Stinger or the Grenade Launcher) and fire it at
the bugs in first person view. The dead bugs will then fly towards you and splatter
across your view.
Information in this section was contributed by Bernard Luk.

Hint: Parrot alert:
Shoot the Parrot in the B2 of Shell One Core and the round will whip around it like
it does with Fortune. If you shoot it too much, it will imitate a guard calling for
help "Enemy sighted, requesting backup". If there are any guards still present in
the area (alive, not asleep), you will automatically go to alert mode. If you throw
grenades at him, they will never go off. Listen to the bird's comment about "top of
locker" -- it is important.
Information in this section was contributed by Travis Morgan.

Take your Coolant spray and use it on the bird. The bird will say "This sucks".
Information in this section was contributed by tdoerner2.

Hint: Special parrot message:
Spray coolant on the parrot in B2, Shell 1 to get a "special" message.
Information in this section was contributed by ThouGreaterOne.

Hint: Flying beer:

Hint: Centerfold:
When you get to Deck A Crew Lounge, use the M9 tranquilizer gun to put both guards
to sleep. Then, walk behind the glass to your left. You will see a shelf with
magazines. Use your M9 to aim and shot at the third magazine from the top row. Its a
white magazine that reads "Oason". It will drop to the floor and it will open up,
showing a blurred centerfold picture of a nude girl. You can keep shooting at all
the magazines, but they will just rip apart -- only some will open up.
Information in this section was contributed by Culebra.

Do the centerfold trick before you fight Olga and only knock the one magazine down.
Return after fighting Olga. There will now be about a dozen other magazines on the
floor.
Information in this section was contributed by flamestrike28.

Hint: Shoot the TV:
Keep walking to your left after where you can find the centerfold in the Deck A Crew
Lounge. There its a HD-TV showing a movie of what appears to be Metal Gear RAY. Use
your M9 and shoot at the TV screen. The picture will disappear.
Information in this section was contributed by Culebra.

and glasses. There is a container or mug there. You can shoot at it and have fun
tossing it around.
Information in this section was contributed by Culebra.

Hint: Food supply:
In the first chapter, in the Deck D crew quarters is a food room. Go up from the
Semtex explosives and there will be a main shelf in the middle of the room. Go to it
and punch and kick it (there is a lot of food on it). Attract the guard patrolling
the area. He will see the food that is splattered and the game will now be in
evasion mode.
Information in this section was contributed by Alexander Yaksic.

Hint: Flush the urinal:
Enter a bathroom and find a urinal on the wall. Go in front of it, press R1 then
point downwards and press Circle to punch and flush it. Another way is to go near
the urinal and then move away. When you press Circle you will see the water going.
Information in this section was contributed by Onmymind.

Hint: No peeking:
When inside the room with all the hostages, there will be a younger brunette
kneeling with her legs slightly apart in the top right area. Try to look up her
skirt in first person view, and she will quickly close her legs.
Information in this section was contributed by Agent Delphi.

To see what you are missing, you need the Digital Camera. Crawl under the table in
front of her and look at her in first person view. Next, shoot her with a M9 Tranq
dart to make her doze off. Her legs will drift apart as she dozes on. Then, take a
picture of her panties with the camera. Finally, call the Colonel for a funny
conversation.
Information in this section was contributed by Edgar Tam.

Hint: Expose yourself:
When you first enter Arsenal Gear, you are naked, attached to the torture table in
Shadow Moses. You will cover up when released from the table. Intentionally get
discovered by one of the "Arsenal Tenkus" and run back to the table and do a wall
hug maneuver to it. Raiden will uncover and pretend to be locked to the table again.
You will then be covered by a soda can's straw on the south window pane. A guard
will begin a clearing in the torture room. Once he is done, he will glance at Raiden
and say "I wish I had that".
