Pieces of Heart Guide - Guide for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

As in many Zelda games, there are a total of 20 hearts that fit in your life 
gauge. You start of the game with three hearts. You get a total 8 Heart 
Containers after you defeat each boss (including Zant), and there are a total 
of 45 Pieces of Heart scattered throughout Hyrule. 5 pieces makes a new Heart 
Comtainer. There are 2 Pieces of Heart in every dungeon (not including Hyrule 
Castle). This is a guide of all 45 pieces.

Piece of Heart #1
Location: Faron Woods
Items Required: Lantern
How to Get: When you are trying to find Colin in the woods, you will need to go 
to the northeast to a path where a Small Key is at. Light the two torches next 
to the Small Key chest to make another chest to appear. Climb up the ledge and 
open the chest for the first Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #2
Location: Forest Temple (Dungeon 1)
Items Required: None
How to get: When you are in the room with the two Deku-Likes, go to the ledge 
on the south of the room where there is a Bombling. Toss the Bombling of the 
side to have the Bombling fall into the Deku-Like's mouth. It will die leving a 
small indention with a chest and a Bombling inside. Open the chest to get the 
second piece.

Piece of Heart #3
Location: Forest Temple (Dungeon 1)
Items Required: Gale Boomerang
How to get: After you beat Ook and get the Gale Boomerang, go back to the room 
where the Tile Worms are at. Go to the four torches and blow them out with the 
Gale Boomerang to make the stairs lower leading to a chest with the third Heart 
Piece.

Piece of Heart #4
Location: South Hyrule Field; Faron Province
Items Required: Gale Boomerang
How to get: In the southern part of the field there is a tree that has a Heart 
Piece sitting on one of the branches. Use the Gale Boomerang to receive it.

Piece of Heart #5
Location: Kakariko Gorge; Eldin Province
Items Required: Gale Boomerang 
How to get: After you return the Eldin Province back to light, go to the bridge 
in the Gorge, go to the west side on the south of the Gorge to see a Piece of 
Heart sitting on the top of a large rock. Get it using the Gale Boomerang. This 
will complete the first Heart Container.

Piece of Heart #6
Location: Ordon Ranch; Ordon Province
Items Required: None
How to get: When you are down there getting the Iron Boots, go to the ranch and 
wrangle the goats in a fast and reasonable time to get the sixth piece. If you 
don't do it right the first time, come back later and try again.

Piece of Heart #7
Location: Goron Mines (Dungeon 2)
Items Required: Iron Boots
How to get: When you are walking on the ceiling after you get the first key 
shard, go to the northeast side of the magnified path to find a chest that 
holds the seventh Heart Piece.

Piece of Heart #8
Location: Goron Mines (Dungeon 2)
Items Required: Iron Boots
How to get: When you are in the room with the two Beamos, Walk along side of 
the wall and on the left side there is a chest with the eighth piece.

Piece of Heart #9
Location: Kakariko Village
Items Required: Hero's Bow
How to get: Climb to the top of the lookout tower to see Talo. Talk to him to 
start a shooting game with your bow. You will be down in the middle of town, 
and if you shoot every target and the pole where Talo is, you will be rewarded 
with the ninth piece. (Hint: easier with the Hawkeye which can be found in Malo 
Mart).

Piece of Heart #10
Location: Kakariko Village (Eldin Spring)
Items Required: Iron Boots
How to get: Bomb the rock to the right of the spring to find a small passage 
with a cucco inside, continue until you are at the back of the spring. Jump in 
the water and put on your Iron Boots to find a chest on the bottom with your 
tenth piece and second Heart Container!

Piece of Heart #11
Location: Kakariko Village
Items Required: Bomb Arrows; Gale Boomerang
How to get: On top of the cave you just entered to get Piece of Heart #10, sits 
a Bomb Rock, blow it up with a Bomb Arrow then retrieve it with the Gale 
Boomerang. 

Piece of Heart #12
Location: Death Mountain 
Items Required: None
How to get: Use the first Goron to get up the ledge, but when you get to the 
second ledge, use the Goron, but jump to the ledge on the left. When you are on 
the ledge, go north to find a small opening in the wall, fall down the hole to 
land in front of a chest that holds Piece of Heart #12.

Piece of Heart #13
Location: Hyrule Field (Eldin Bridge)
Items Required: Bombs; Bomb Arrows
How to get: Blow up the rock on your immediate right and then climb the ledge. 
Now climb up the vines to get even higher. Now use a Bomb Arrow on the rock to 
your right. Now jump across to hang on the vines, pull yourself up and look to 
the right. You should see a chest, hop down on the ledge with the chest. Open 
it for the twelfth piece.

Piece of Heart #14
Location: Kakariko Gorge (Lantern Caven 1)
Items Required: Bombs; Lantern; Lantern Oil
How to get: Follow the path while not going off the path or following any 
forks. All forks lead basically to dead ends with some treasures that are 
trivial and a Poe, you will come to a sharp turn that will go south then east, 
then continue when you get to the fork and go to the north. Now you will see 
the glowing lantern of the Poe, go to the right at this fork to find the chest 
with the Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #15
Location: Lake Hylia
Items Required: Iron Boots
How to get: After returning the Lanayru Province to light, go to Falbi's Flight-
by-Fowl in Lake Hylia. Play the game for 20 rupees. Grab a cucco and fly to the 
island that looks like steps. You must hold the contoller stick back to slow 
down, if timed right you will land on the spining part on the top. If it looks 
like you might miss it, use your Iron Boots over it to land on the platform. 
This chest contains an Orange Rupee (100). Now drop one platform below to find 
a chest that holds a Heart Piece.

Piece of Heart #16
Location: Lake Hylia (Lantern Cavern 2)
Items Required: Bombs; Lantern; Lantern Oil
How to get: This is a hard, dark and narrow tunnel. Make sure you have plenty 
of Lantern Oil and patience. Now go to the place where you fought the Twilit 
Messengers. Walk up the platform and then climb the ladder. Make a left from 
where you climbed up the ladder. Bomb the rocks to enter the cavern. Now here's 
how you get to the Piece of Heart. Go east, north, east, north, west, west, 
north, west, north, east, south, east, east, south. Avoid falling into a 
precipice and avoid enemies. If you ever need extra oil, defeat the Yellow Chu 
Jelly's and scoop their remains. Once you come to the small alcove open the 
chest for the Piece of Heart. Step into the light to exit to Lake Hylia.

Piece of Heart #17
Location: Hena's Fishing Hole
Items Required: None
Now to get: Rent a boat from Hena, then go to the small ledge in the middle of 
the water. Throw your rod at the Piece of Heart on the ledge to keep it.

Piece of Heart #18
Location: Castle Town West Road
Items Required: None
How to get: Give 1000 rupees to the man near the cows to get this piece.

Piece of Heart #19
Location: Lakebed Temple (Dungeon 3)
Items Required: Clawshot
How to get: Clawshot onto the chandelier in the main room while on the second 
floor. The chest with the Piece of Heart is on top.

Piece of Heart #20
Location: Lakebed Temple (Dungeon 3)
Items Required: Clawshot
How to get: Go back to the room where there was one cog and where you found the 
first small key. Now the water should be flowing which will rise up the bridge 
to the next Piece of Heart. Stand on the button, then Clawshot the mark while 
you are still standing on the button to get to the chest holding the fourth 
Heart Container Piece of Heart. To get out Clawshot the point on the ceiling.

Piece of Heart #21
Location: Sacred Grove
Items Required: Master Sword
How to get: Go to where you just recently fought the Skull Kid. Blow up the 
rock to reveal a Poe, defeat it as a wolf then dig where the rock once was to 
find a small cavern. Defeat all of the enemies then claim your Piece of Heart 
from the chest.

Piece of Heart #22
Location: Hyrule Field (Eldin Bridge)
Items Required: Fixed East Castle Town Bridge
How to get: Go to the Castle Town East Gate and talk to the Goron sitting 
there. He wants to poured with some Kakariko Hot Spring Water. Ok, so warp to 
Kakariko and talk to Elder Liggs outside Malo Mart. He will give you some Hot 
Springwater, but you must hurry. To keep out of sight of enemies while running 
through the field, run as close to the south ledge as possible, then dodge the 
Bokoblin and cross over the bridge and throw the water on him. He will go to 
Kakariko to get some water to set up a shop in Castle Town, and drop a Piece of 
Heart by you.

Piece of Heart #23
Location: Lanayru Spring (Lake Hylia)
Items Required: Clawshot; Lantern
How to get: Enter the spring then take a right. Clawshot the ivy and climb up 
on the ledge and open the door on the right. Grab the two small chests and then 
light the torches to find another chest with the Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #24
Location: Lake Hylia
Items Required: Master Sword
How to get: While a wolf, talk to Plumm to play his mini-game. Control the 
Kargarok and dash with A. Hit the few ballons at the beginning to earn points, 
then try to consistantly hit the small red strawberries for 10 points then to 
multiply it. If you are consistant, and you don't hit the wall, you should 
easily get 10,000 points. It is not as hard as you think. Be patient.

Piece of Heart #25
Location: Hyrule Field (Bridge of Eldin) Lava Cavern
Items Required: Iron Boots; Clawshot
How to get: When you enter, fall off the ledge and put on your Iron Boots. You 
will be caught and pulled to the next level. When down, defeat the Bokoblin and 
Fire Keese then drop down to the next magnetic wave. Down here you will meet 
some Dodongos. Defeat them then continue straight ahead then drop down one more 
time. Defeat the Dodongo down here and then open the chest for your Piece of 
Heart.

Piece of Heart #26
Location: Gerudo Desert
Items Required: None
How to get: When you com to a small camp where you get the Small Key, slice up 
the boar until a Piece of Heart comes out.

Piece of Heart #27
Location: Arbiter's Grounds (Dungeon 4)
Items Required: Clawshot
How to get: While you are in the room where you saw the four Poes, on the left 
side of the room is a Clawshot point. Clawshot it to make your way to the chest 
with a Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #28
Location: Arbiter's Grounds (Dungeon 4)
Items Required: Spinner
How to get: In the room right after you battle Death Sword, use the Spinner 
along the left side to travel up. Now you should see a statue. Right in front 
of it is the chest with the Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #29
Location: Hyrule Field North
Items Require: Spinner; Master Sword; Bomb Arrows
How to get: There is a Spinner track along the wall in the small path right 
after the Eldin Bridge. Follow the Spinner path. You will get to a small ledge 
with just grass. Turn into a wolf and use your senses to find a dig spot. Enter 
the small cavern. Defeat the Stalfos with Bomb Arrows (there are some bombs in 
a chest if needed) to make a chest appear with your Heart Piece.

Piece of Heart #30
Location: Hyrule Field North
Items Required: Spinner
How to get: On the west side of the north field, bomb the rocks if you haven't 
already to find a small path. There are Spinner rails on the sides of the 
walls. Jump back and forth until you get to the ledge with the Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #31
Location: Snowpeak Ruins (Dungeon 5)
Items Required: Bombs; Clawshot
How to get: When you reach the room with a floor that looks unstbale. Put a 
bomb on it to open a hole. Drop down to find the chest with a Piece of Heart. 
Use the Clawshot mark to get back up.

Piece of Heart #32
Location: Snowpeak Ruins (Dungeon 5)
Items Required: Ball and Chain
How to get: When you are in the first room of the dungeon, but on the second 
floor, swing across the platforms using the Ball and Chain then go south until 
you find the chest with the Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #33
Location: Snowpeak Mountains
Items Required: Mirror Shard #2
How to get: Warp to the Snowpeak point then challenge both Yetis to a sled 
match. Yeto is easy, but Yeta is not. When you start off she will get a small 
lead, when you catch up, use the spin attack to throw her off. Now go to the 
right side ledge, then across the bridge, after you jump across the three 
trees, go to your immeadiate left to find another ledge to jump on, this is a 
shortcut you must use. Follow it (remember to use the spin attack on Yeta if 
she gets near) until you get back on the original path then continue until you 
finish. If you do this the first time then you are a beast. Be patient.

Piece of Heart #34
Location: Hyrule Field North
Items Required: Ball and Chain
How to get: Go to the very north of this field to find a small cave witha 
bombable rock. Destroy it, then use the Ball and Chain to enter. This is a 
tricky maze that would take hours without this guide. FIRST ROOM: Push the 
southeast block north, push the same block west, push the southwest block to 
the east, push the northwest block to the south, push the same block east, push 
the same block north, push the northernmost block to the west, push the same 
block south, push the same block east, then finally push the same block north.
SECOND ROOM: push the southeast block north, push the northwest block to the 
south, push the southwestern most block to the east, push the west block to the 
north, push the same block to the east, push the middle east block to the west, 
push the same block to the south, push the same block to the east, slide the 
same block to the north to get the first switch. Now push the northernmost 
block to the west, push the southeast block to the west, push the northwest 
block to the south, push the southernmost block to the east, push the 
northernmost block to the south which releases the switch. Now, push the 
southeast block to the north, push the push the southernmost block to the east, 
push the same block to the north, push the same block to the west which presses 
the switch. Now push the westernmost to the north, then slide the same block 
south, push the same block east, push the northeast block to the south, push 
the same block to the west, push the southeast block to the west, push the same 
block north, push the same block east, and finally push the southeastern most 
block to the north. Continue. THIRD ROOM: Push the northwest block south, push 
the southeast block, push the same block west, push the same block south, push 
the middle block east, push the southwest block north, push the same block 
east, push the west block north, push the southeast block north, push the 
northwest block east, push the same block south, push the northeast block west, 
push the southernmost block west, push the northwest block south, finally push 
the northwest block east. YES! Now you can finally grab the Heart Piece out of 
the chest!

Piece of Heart #35
Location: Temple of Time (Dungeon 6)
Items Required: Dominion Rod
How to get: When the statue is on the fifth floor, smash the barriers and set 
the statue on the switch. Now go through and open the chest with the Heart 
Piece.

Piece of Heart #36
Location: Temple of Time (Dungeon 6)
Items Required: Dominion Rod
How to get: On the fifth floor, go to the south room where you fought some 
Armos and got a small key. Now defeat all of the Baby Gohmas then use the 
Dominion Rod to adjust the statuettes on the pressure switches. This will make 
a chest with a Heart Piece appear.

Piece of Heart #37
Location: Sacred Grove Past (Temple of Time)
Items Required: Dominion Rod
How to get: Move the statue with the rod on the left of the entrance back to 
the Sacred Grove. Follow the path behind it to a chest with a Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #38
Location: Hidden Village
Items Required: Master Sword
How to get: Talk to all twenty cats while a wolf. #1: Atop north stack of 
wooden crates. #2: In the street near the wooden crates. #3: Also near the 
crates in the street. #4: In the street between the two northernmost buildings. 
#5: Northeasternmost buliding on second floor. #6: Northeastern most buliding 
balcony outside. #7: Northwesternmost building balcony (use Clawshot). #8: West 
building's ooutside balcony. #9: Village's west alley. #10: Alley between east 
and northeasternmost building. #11: East building first floor. #12: East 
building frist floor too. #13: East building second floor (use Clawshot). #14: 
East building's outside balcony. #15: Street between west and east buildings. 
#16: Lot south of east building. #17: South end near Impaz's house. #18: 
Southernmost nook. #19: Inside a barrlel in the southwesternmost building. #20: 
Southwesternmost buliding upper balcony (jump through second floor window). 
After you talk to them all get the Heart Piece in front of Impaz's house.

Piece of Heart #39
Location: Faron Woods
Items Required: Dominion Rod
How to get: After you get the sky character from the statue, move the statue 
into the hole then turn into a wolf and follow Midna to the chest with the 
Heart Piece.

Piece of Heart #40
Location: Bridge of Eldin
Items Required: Dominion Rod
How to get: After you get the sky character from the statue, move the statue 
all the way down the bridge to an indention on the right. Jump across the 
statue top to a ladder. Climb it to find a chest with a Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #41
Location: City in the Sky (Dungeon 7)
Items Required: Double Clawshots
How to get: In the room where you battled the Big Baba, you will find a ledge 
on the side which you can hold on and move across until you get to a ledge with 
a Piece of Heart in the chest. 

Piece of Heart #42
Location: City in the Sky (Dungeon 7)
Items Required: Double Clawshots
How to get: While Clawhshotting the Peahats in a small garden area, there will 
be a ledge with the chest containing a Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #43
Location: Kakariko Gorge
Items Required: Double Clawshots
How to get: This is at the same place where you got Heart Piece #5. Clawshot 
the mark on the rock, then clawshot down and make it to the ledge with a Piec 
of Heart.

Piece of Heart #44
Location: Twilight Realm (Dungeon 8)
Items Required: Master Sword with Light
How to get: Go back to the first chamber on the left. Use the sword to make the 
black wall of twilight dissapate. Clawshot up and grab the piece out of the 
chest.

Piece of Heart #45
Location: Twilight Realm (Dungeon 8)
Items Required: Master Sword with Light
How to get: Go to the chambers east wing and make a platform appear on the 
ground using your sword. Ride it up and to the right to get the last Heart 
Piece of the game!
