Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I pick which jersey the teams will wear?

A: No. The jerseys that the teams wear (including third jerseys)
are randomly selected for each game. There is not an option to pick
the jersey.
Q: How do I set my lines in Exhibition Mode?

A: If you want to set your lines for use in Exhibition Mode, you
must make changes in the Rosters option, located on the main menu.
After making changes to your Roster or Lines, you can save them in
the Memory Card option. Whenever you want to use the saved rosters
& lines, you should use the Load Rosters option to load them into
Q: How do the rosters work when in Season Mode?

A: When in Season Mode, your rosters are only affected by changes
made using the Rosters option on the Season Menu. During a season
your rosters and lines are saved with your season file. Any changes
you make from the Main Menu will not have any effect once you load
your season, they will be overwritten by the rosters that are in
the Season file. During a season your rosters and lines are saved
with your season file. You have the option of saving your Rosters
separately. After doing this, you will be able to load your Rosters
& Lines in from the memory card option on the main menu and use the
current season rosters in exhibition games.
Q: Can I save any settings for my season?

A: Before starting a new season, be sure to set your camera angle
and other settings as desired. There are certain settings such as
Auto Zoom and Auto Replay that cannot be changed from the season
menu. If settings such as these are not set before starting a
season as desired, you will have to set them in the pause menu
after starting each game in that season.
Q: I'm having trouble saving my games. What's happening?

A: NHL 98 was designed to be used in conjunction with Official SONY
memory cards. We have found during testing, that some 3rd party
memory cards are not reliable for use with NHL 98 and therefore do
not support their use. Although some have experienced no problems
with the 3rd party memory cards, it is recommended that you use the
Official SONY memory card to ensure compatibility with the game.

If you have been experiencing any issues while playing the game
with a 3rd party memory card, try playing the game without the
memory card or with a Sony memory card to see if the issue persists
to determine if the issue is memory card related. (NOTE: It is
recommended by SONY that you remove your memory card from the
system before turning the system On/Off.)
Q: How can I do special moves and who can do them?

A: Special moves can only be used by players who are rated high
enough to execute the moves. To execute a special move press the
TRIANGLE button. There are three general areas that these special
moves can be executed:
