OPINION OF THE AUTHOR ============================================================================== BAM giveth and BAM taketh away. More accurately, BAM giveth the second best Fire Pro *ever,* and BAM taketh the coolest mode in a wrestling game away. Instead of the critically-acclaimed Management of Ring mode in FFP, the US version will have "Ironman Mode," a story mode (as far as I can tell). Sure, it takes off the burden off of the battery backup to allow around 80 wrestlers, but Management of the Ring was the best improvement in the game! Unless Ironman Mode is really, really good, I'd have to say that it is best to get the import, and not the domestic, version. I will, however, get the American version, for the sake of argument. My Rating for Final Fire Pro: 9.5 My Rating for Fire Pro 2: Not played. It's coming out in a month or two. ============================================================================== 3. MODES A GO GO!!!!! ============================================================================== Final Fire Pro is lighter on modes than its predecessor. However, the new mode that now exists easily makes up for the lack of the elmination match of old: Management of the Ring. In this section of the FAQ, I will explain each and every mode in surgical detail. ============================================================================== 3.1. BATTLE ROYAL ============================================================================== Three modes, here: Normal, Endless, Over the Top Rope. NORMAL - Nothing special. Just a regular up-to-4 person elimination match. ENDLESS - Eliminated people stick around to make the match hell for others. OVER THE TOP ROPE - Anytime a wrestler is forced out of the ring, they're eliminated. Additionally, leaving the ring yourself eliminates you. MATCH RULES: Normal/Hardcore/American WINNING METHOD: 3-count/2-count/Only Submissions/Only Pinfalls/Falls Count Anywhere RING: Same as normal mode. ARENA: Same as normal mode. COM LEVEL: 1-10. REFEREE: Same as the other modes. ROPE CHECK: ON/OFF LUMBERJACK: OFF/ON CRITICAL: ON/OFF D.Q. COUNT: Normal/Gruesome/None RINGOUT COUNT: 20/10/None ============================================================================== 3.2 MANAGEMENT OF THE RING ============================================================================== Load Game New Game First you choose a federation to use, or you can start your own. These are the stats on the right hand side. - Regional Popularity: How popular they are in Japan, USA, Mexico, and Europe. - Amount of Wrestlers - Country of Origin - Money - Monthly Cost - How Long the Sim Lasts. It ranges from 3 to 5 years. The bar at the bottom represents the mix of styles. Each style has its own color (eg. WCW has a mostly orange bar, orange being Showman style) Orange - Showman (Sports Entertainment) White - Stoic (Shoot) Green - Lucha (Mexican Luchadore Style) Yellow - King's Road (Japanese Style eg. AJPW, NOAH, etc) Blue - Strong Cyan - Free Red - Hardcore NEW FED ------- Left Column -Country of Origin (Japan, America, Mexico, Europe) -Length of Management -Starting Money -Ring Type -Fed Style (Goes to right column) Right Column (What Style(s) will your fed be?) -Strong -King's Road -Showman -Stoic -Lucha -Hardcore -Free MAIN MENU --------- 1. Match-making Menu - Book card: This is fairly self-explanatory. You can book the card here. - In the book card menu: - Edit Card: It edits the card, once you have made it. - New Card: Creates - Start Card from Scratch: Want to start over COMPLETELY? Use this option. - Bring in an Outsider: Allows you to sign a 1 month contract with a wrestler.. provided they are interested in working with your fed. - Talent Exchange (I think): Exchange a member of your federation for a member of another federation, for one card. - Promotion War: Hold a card themed after your federation vs. another. Happens as random events as well, but you can attempt to initiate the cross-promotional card. - Return to Previous Menu 2. Production, Merchandising, and Facility Menu - Training Facilities: Add training supplements for your federation's workers. This helps your ranking in the third catagory, 'facilities.' Try to get at least the first two very early on, so WWE doesn't have much of a lead. - Sparring Sandbag (2000 to buy, 200 MP/mo.) - Medicine Balls (2000 to buy, 200 MP/mo.) - Sparring Dummy (4000 to buy, 400 MP/mo.) - ? (nothing to buy, 800 MP/mo.) - ? (nothing to buy, 800 MP/mo.) - Balance Ball (1000 to buy, 100 MP/mo.) - Ring Doctor (nothing to buy, 1200 MP/mo.) - Medical Room (4000 to buy, 600 MP/mo.) - Refresh Room (3000 to buy, 400 MP/mo.) - Confirm - Goods: Bring out the wares to promote your fed. It's a fool-proof way to get money, usually. - T Shirts (1000 MP/mo.) - Towels (2000 MP/mo.) - Videos (3000 MP/mo.) - Figurines (4000 MP/mo.) - Masks (5000 MP/mo.) - Don't Know Yet (5000 MP/mo.) - Confirm - Production: Select the level of TV production. This helps generate press for your organization, and thus raise your popularity worldwide! - None (0 MP/mo.): You start at this. This doesn't help you at all. Move up in the production ranks, and fast, or you'll be slumming around near the bottom of the ranks. - Regional (150 MP/mo.): Well, it's a start, but not much. If you're a new organization, this is a good starting point. Otherwise, don't even bother. - Mostly National (500 MP/mo.): If you're starting out with a major organization, here's a good starting point. - Nation-wide (1500 MP/mo.): Once you've amassed some money, upgrade to this-- it'll raise your popularity in the nation significantly! - Global (3000 MP/mo.): You want popularity? This is how you get it. You *must* get this in MoR mode to rank at #1, PERIOD. Otherwise, WWE will still pound you into the ground! This gives your popularity a *humongous* boost. A company starting at D popularity in America, for example, can skyrocket to an A in a half of a year. - Confirm - Return to Previous Menu 3. Contract Menu - Scout: This is how you get many of the hidden characters in FFP. The vast majority of said hiddens *must* be unlocked here. - Scout of Choice: - ???? (600 MP/mo.) - Devil Masa, aka NJPW's Masa Saito (500 MP/mo.) - Richter Madness, aka ??? (400 MP/mo.) - Willy ??, aka AJPW's Wally Yamaguchi (500 MP/mo.) - Mr. Question, aka ??? (300 MP/mo.) - Style to Scout For: - Strong (NJPW) - King Road (AJPW and NOAH) - Showman (American-style) - Stoic (Shootfighting) - Lucha (High-flying, Mexican-style) - Hardcore (Garbage wrestling, some FMW/BJPW/ECW) - Freestyle (All about winning-- at least two people use this) - Anything (Anything. Not very useful) - Area to Scout: - Japan - America - Mexico - Europe - Anywhere (Many wrestlers must be found with this) - Duration: 1 to 12 months - Hire - This brings up the selection screen. If you hit the L shoulder button, you get information on the federation. The translation for this information is seen in another area of the FAQ. - Brings up a dialogue: "The wrestler wants so-and-so MP to negotiate a contract with you. Will you accept? Yes/no" - The value fluctuates depending on the prominence of the wrestler. If you're lucky enough to steal Kurt Angle from WWE, for example, it'll cost around 670 MP to negotiate with him. Of course, he also has to be unhappy with WWE... - And then...: "Select a wage for this wrestler." There's 3 different monthly wages you may pay. - If they agree, it'll play a bell-like noise. If they disagree, it'll play a buzzer-like noise. - Talent Pool - Select a federation you wish to share talent with. They'll either agree or disagree, depending on their relationship with you. - Learning Excursion - Sends a wrestler over to another federation to hone his skills, for 500 MP. - Area: Japan, America, Mexico, Europe, Anywhere - Duration: 1 to 12 months - Fire - Select a wrestler, and they're fired. All there is to it. - Return to Previous Menu 4. Global Stats Menu - Federations - Brings up an analysis of each organization: - Regional Popularity: Japan/America/Mexico/Europe. The grades are on an S-D basis. - Wrestlers: Number of Wrestlers under contract. - Area of Origin: Japan, America, Mexico, Europe. - MP: How much they got-- cash, dough, money, skrilla, greenbacks, D-notes, whatever. - Cost: How much it costs per month to run the fed. If you're looking at YOUR organization.... TRY TO BREAK EVEN OR YOU'LL LOSE LOTS OF CASH. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE RUNNING NEW FEDERATIONS AND NOT PRE-MADE ONES, OR WITH SMALL FEDS LIKE TORYUMON. - Status: For your federation, this simply displays how much time you have left before the end of the simulation. With other organizations, it varies from: - Doesn't know you at all (see: most places when you start off in MoR) - Rivalry (see: WWE when WCW) - On medium terms (see: NJ and NOAH with Zero-One) - Willing to work with you (see: UFO with Zero-One) - (if you have an agreement) agreement ends in X months - At the bottom of the screen is Style: Primary style. Strong, King's Road, Showman, Stoic, Lucha, Hardcore, Freestyle - Wrestlers - Brings up an analysis of a wrestler when you press the L button. - Picture at top left is their body condition: green, green- yellow, yellow, orange, red, in order of good to awful. - Info at top right is... - Style: Strong, King's Road, Showman, Stoic, Lucha, Hardcore, Freestyle. - Regional Popularity: Japan/America/Mexico/Europe. - Status: Injured, on a learning excursion, etc. - Morale: S-D - Box in middle: Name - Boxes at bottom.. Guesses here. I need solid proof. - Physical Condition(?): S-D - Spiritual Condition(?): Same - Willingness to work: High, Medium, Low, Unable to work; will return in X months - Monthly wage - Belts - Organization, how many times belt has been defended by the current champ, current champion. - There's three categories: - Singles - Tag - King of [style name] - Ranking - Overall - Morale : The overall happiness of your workers. - Wrestler Quality : How well-balanced is your roster? - Facilities : How well-furnished is your training facility? - Wealth : How much money do you have? - Belt Value : How much value do your belts have? - Advice - Don't even bother unless you're good with Japanese. Anyway, I'm trying to give you advice here. :) - Return to Previous Menu 5. System Menu - SAVE: Saves the game without quitting Management of Ring. - End Session - Asks if you wish to save the game-- do so. - Return to Previous Menu 6. End Turn: Starts your card, and processes the goings-on in the wrestling world. STATS ----- Statistics for your federation's stars fluctuates considerably through the game. - A series of wins raises the wrestler's popularity in the area in which they won. - Losing brings down popularity, naturally. - Willingness to work coincides with the condition of the wrestler. After a particularly grueling match, it's a very bad idea to put them in another match that they don't want to be in. Moreover, it's risking injury to the wrestler!! Give them a month or two off to recuperate. - The ring doctor, medical room, and refresh room work to lower the time it takes for a wrestler to reach peak condition once again. - Popularity around the world can be influenced by all of the following: - World-wide broadcasting - Stars working overseas as part of an agreement - Promotional wars - Sending stars to friendly promotions - Morale drops in many ways. Some of such ways are: - Not booking wrestlers that want to be booked - Booking wrestlers that don't want to be booked - Refusing to give them a bonus - Overworking wrestlers who are in bad shape. RANDOM EVENTS -------------- Random events happen at the beginning of each new month, and range from good fortune to very BAD fortune. Listed here are the various events that happen. - (nurses with a wrestler, outside of a building) "WRESTLER NAME has returned from his injuries." - (wrestlers shown in shirts in-ring) "FEDERATION NAME does a SINGLES/TAG tournament." - (You, at your desk) "Unfortunately, SCOUT NAME wasn't able to find any wrestlers in his scouting expedition. As such, he has no suggestions for you." - (Wrestler, doing a guts pose, ring lights shining above) "FEDERATION NAME'S WRESTLER NAME won the FEDERATION NAME world title!" - (Wrestler with a microphone) "WRESTLER 1 and WRESTLER 2 exchanged harsh words after the event last month. Their rivalry is coming to a boiling point..." - PUT A MATCH WITH THESE TWO ON YOUR NEXT CARD! It increases attendence, and thus revenue. - (Two men at their desk, no cue sound) "A representative of the wrestlers and staff has come to you to ask for a bonus. They feel they deserve it for their hard work. Will you give them an MP XXXXX bonus? Yes/No" - (if yes) "I see. The wrestlers and staff will be getting a raise in payroll." - (if no) "I see. I will not transfer any money to the federation's employees." - Doing this raises your wrestlers' morale considerably. - (Two men at their desk, buzzer sound) "WRESTLER NAME is unhappy with his position in the promotion. Will you negotiate with him to placate him?" (Yes/no) - (if yes) "Select a form of reimbursement: - 1.) ??? - 2.) A bonus - 3.) ???" - This may or may not be successful. a successful attempt to make the wrestler happy will get a positive sound, and a failed attempt plays a buzzer. - (if no) "WRESTLER NAME is angered by this, will quit the promotion for this disrespect." - (Wrestlers with a bunch of kids) "Your wrestlers attend a charity event for sick youngsters. This event increased fan appreciation for your federation." - (Again, wrestlers with children) "Wasshoi! Wasshoi! (I guess this is like 'kakkoii,' or 'cool') They're so wasshoi! Your wrestlers get in touch with younger fans between shows, giving them an 'image-up.'" - (Man at desk, no cue) "FEDERATION NAME wishes to use WRESTLER NAME as a guest worker, and will pay you X AMOUNT OF MP. Accept? Yes/No" - Doing this will, of course, give you money, plus raise the popularity of your wrestler. - (Three wrestlers, in a locker room) "WRESTLERS 1 2 and 3 have unexpectedly quit your organization and joined the competition, FED NAME!" - (A microphone, and two faceless people at a table #1) "FED NAME has stolen WRESTLER NAME from OTHER FED NAME." - (A microphone, and two faceless people at a table #2) "Oh no! FED NAME has stolen WRESTLER NAME from you!" - (Dejected wrestlers) "Your wrestlers did not fare well in the promotional war and are left in a dejected state." - If your fed loses in the promo war or gets bad ratings in the old vs. new series, their morale drops. - (An excited wrestler in-ring) "Your victory over the other promotion has left your wrestlers much happier than before!" - If your fed WINS in a promo war or puts on good matches with the old-timers, your morale rises. - (Party-goers, in suits) "A group of promoters is setting up a party, and would like your help to make it a success. All they require is XXXXX MP to do so. Accept? Yes/no" - (if yes) "Your donation helped make the party a big success. - (if no) "The party never gets off the ground." - This raises your relations with a promotion. - (Your desk, after going into the red) "You're out of money! You need to get out of debt in 3 months, or you'll be fired!" - (A man clutching his head in agony, as a building falls down behind him #1) "FEDERATION NAME has gone out of business!" - (A man clutching his head in agony, as a building falls down behind him #2) "You've gone completely bankrupt. Your federation is out of business!! Your dream of running a pro wrestling organization is left in ruins.... GAME OVER" - (A group of wrestlers in a ring, red slashing into the space between them) "Your refusal to go through with the cross-promotional card has angered the other federation deeply, not to mention it has drained you of XXXXX MP!!" - This is why you don't try to back outta a cross-promotional war, ever. It's a drain of money and a relationship killer. CHALLENGES ------------- - (You, at your desk) "FIGHTER NAME has challenged your organization to bring out your best wrestler at a show, to prove that his fighting style is #1. Do you accept? Yes/no" - (if yes) "Good! The match will take place as the main event of your next card. Go into match make mode to set up the card." - (if no) "The fans don't agree with your refusal." - This is how you get those weird looking hiddens. - (You at your desk, again) "The Gracie clan has challenged your promotion's top wrestlers to a match. They have sent in [Renzo, Royce, Rickson/"The 500 Victory King"] to fight. Do you accept? Yes/no" - Yes and no bring up similar messages to the other challenges you get. - As far as I know, this is the only way to get the Gracies. - (You, at your desk *again*) "Five of the greatest wrestlers in the history of pro wrestling have challenged your federation to a showcase of styles. Accept? Yes/no" - (if yes) "Awesome! Set up the matches in match make, and the card will happen." - (if no) "The fans don't agree with your refusal." - This is the ONLY way to get Andre, Brody, Thesz, Gotch, and Rikidozan. - (Wrestler with a microphone #2) "WRESTLER from FEDERATION NAME challenges any of your stars to a match at your next show. Accept? Yes/no" - It's worth it to do so in some cases, as it increases popularity and your relations with a federation. If you're a small federa- tion, this is also a major form of assistance. With Zero One this happens with fair frequency every month. ============================================================================== 3.3. PRACTICE MODE ============================================================================== Even if you know Fire Pro like the back of your hand, finish this mode. You get a hidden via this. Read Kilroy's FAQ for the goals. Yamamoto -- the gym coach -- indicates what you are doing wrong in Japanese, especially in grapples. He usually says one of three things when you make a mistake "Osoi!" - You are too late with your timing. "Hayai!" - You are too early with your timing. "Dame da." - You can't do that move, as seen by how you got reversed. ============================================================================== 3.4 EDIT MODE ============================================================================== 3.4.1 EDIT WRESTLER!! As most of you Fire Pro fans know, Fire Pro is known for having an in depth wrestler edit mode. Little has changed since FFP's predecessor -- literally, there's very little changed from FPA to FFP [I'll note what is new as it comes along]. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it is hard to improve on Fire Pro's wrestler edit significantly. When you enter wrestler edit, you may either start from scratch, or select the top-left option, wrestler model. This allows you to base your edit off of an existing default, a godsend to those that want to fix the color-swapped American wrestlers. WRESTLER MAKE ---------------- Edits the appearance of the wrestler. WRESTLER MOVE ======================= This just updates rosters. Hit right to choose from the right column, organizations. Hit A to confirm a wrestler move. You can remove defaults this way, too. 3.4.6. WRESTLER TRADE ======================= Just allows you to trade wrestlers with a buddy. ============================================================================== 4. WINNERS MAY NOT DO DRUGS, BUT THEY *DO* CHEAT! (cheat codes) ============================================================================== As of this time, there are *no* cheat codes. Don't bother looking. I'll let you know when there are codes, ya big cheaters. There ARE, however, hidden things in-game. You can unlock organizations by beating the game with other organizations... NEW JAPAN PRO WRESTLING: Beat the game with ZERO ONE at #1 PRO-WRESTLING NOAH: Beat the game with AJPW at #1 WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT: Beat the game with WCW at #1 AAA: Beat the game with Michinoku Pro and/or Toryumon at #1 PRIDE: Beat the game with Pancrase, RINGS, and/or UFO at #1... I think I could be wrong about UFO and PRIDE, though. The Gracies' Challenge: When you hit #1 with an organization, the Gracie family will challenge your organization by sending in a member of its family randomly. The members, in order, are Renzo, Royce, and Rickson. Defeating them-- no matter how low a rating you get-- will unlock each one for use in your organization, and in One Night Match mode. The Old Guard vs. The New Generation: When you hit #1 with an organization, there is a chance that you will receive a challenge from five wrestling legends to hold a 5-match 'promotional war' style card. The wrestlers are Lou Thesz, Bruiser Brody, Andre the Giant, and Rikidouzan. Defeating them with an overall rating of 80% for all matches unlocks them for use in Management of Ring and One Night Match. This is by far the *toughest* set of hiddens to obtain, simply because getting 80% ratings against them *and* winning is a trying task. If you think you can do it, try beating them with yourself at the controls of a wrestler, and not the computer. The rewards for this are nice, though, as you get 5 new characters of the 77 hiddens. My Fighting Style is the Greatest!: When you hit #1 with an organization, there is a chance a martial arts expert will challenge your organization to a match to prove that wrestling is weaker than their fighting style. Defeating this person-- no matter how low a rating you get-- will unlock him or her for use in Management of Ring and One Night Match. A Legend Comes Out of Retirement: At the end of the year you first hit #1 with an organization, you get a hidden great to join your ranks. Among the hiddens unlocked this way is Ric Flair (WCW.) NJPW, AJPW, RINGS, Pancrase, and AAA all unlock wrestlers in this fashion. ============================================================================== 5. Uh?
