This is my first ever guide, but I've read plenty of other guides and have a good head for ASCII formatting, so don't worry too much about sloppy formatting or anything. Anyway, the purpose of this guide quite simply to provide a complete and comprehensive resource for anyone who wants to know more about Weapons. Weapons are the bread and butter of Kid Icarus: Uprising. They determine every possible stat you can have, and each and every one of them behave in a radically different way. There are 108 weapons grouped under 9 categories, so there's quite a lot to learn! This guide will cover everything weapon related, from Weapon Fusion to how much damage a staff does at its maximum range. Enjoy your read, and I hope you find whatever you're looking for. Even if all you know is the basics you can perform well with just about anything. Knowing the advanced mechanics would put you at a great advantage, but anyone who knows these simple basics can build the weapons they want and perform well enough with them. I encourage newcomers and veterans alike to read over this section, even if only as a quick skim, as there may be something here you didn't know. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ Stats ~ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The most basic of basics for any weapon are the fundamental stats that come attached to them. Right away you'll notice three major "stats", but there are few more that are hidden, and affect how the weapon behaves. The stats you can see should be Range, Melee, and Value. There several other stats though such as Weight and Charge Time. This section will cover exactly what each Stat is, and how it will affect you in-game. Before I begin I feel it necessary to explain how the Stars work. The Stars do not show you how powerful a weapon really is. For example, a Babel Club with no Stars in Melee could hit harder than a Insight Staff with two Stars in the same stat. Each weapon has its own inherent stats, and the Stars a Bonus to that original figure. The outline star is treated as half of a full star, and if referenced later in the guide will be referred to as either half stars or full stars. The amount of increase for each half star is approximately 10%, but an exact number is not yet known. ---------------- Range ---------------- A bit misleading, the Range stat has nothing to do with how far you can shoot, but rather how much damage you'll deal with your ranged shots. Almost every weapon in the game relies on Ranged shots moreso than any other stat. Even Melee specific weapons will often rely on Range while they're approaching in order to rack up some damage before hitting them hard with a Melee combo. The only real exception to this rule are the almighty Clubs, who trade off all ranged attacks except for their devastating charged shots. ---------------- Melee ---------------- This one is a little more obvious. Melee is the stat that determines how much damage you do when your Claws and Clubs slaughtering the masses. Every weapon is capable of Melee attacks, but a couple of them really shouldn't even try bothering with them. Most notably Staffs and Orbitars. ---------------- Value ---------------- The last of the obviously visable stats. Value is the cost of your weapon. Although this 'stat' only applies Online or in Shops. In general, any bonuses your weapon has such as more stars or weapon modifiers (explained later in the guide) will raise the value. Online if you kill someone with a high value Weapon you will score more points than if you killed someone with a low value weapon. Even moreso if you are using a low valued weapon to take down a high valued one, and vice vera. It is important to balance the weapon you hold with your own skill, so that you don't become a hindrance to your team-mates. It may also be in your best interest to intentionally use a weak weapon to rack up more points quickly for every kill, but keep in mind you'll be severely disadvanted in doing so. ---------------- Weight ---------------- A fairly important stat, but hardly detrimental to whether or not you live or die. Weight effects your movement speed and Stamina. If your weapon is light-weight you'll move much quicker, and you'll be able to Dash for much longer. The converse is also; holding a heavy weapon will make you walk slower and you'll run out of Dash much quicker. Weight is often used as a balancing mechanic. for example, Clubs hit harder than any weapon in the game, but at the cost they are also the slowest weapons as well. ---------------- Reach ---------------- Yeah, this probably could have been worded better, but oh well. This stat represents how far you can shoot. Interestingly enough EVERY single shot your weapon is capable of has a unique reach. Charge Shots and Dash Shots tend to have a greater range than a Standard Shot. Besides their charge shots, Clubs tend to have the shortest range of any weapon. Staffs have the longest range by a mile, and even do more damage for hitting enemies farther away! ---------------- Charge Time ---------------- Self Explanatory, really. This is how fast your weapon builds up its Charge Shots. Weaker weapons tend to build them up faster than stronger weapons as a balancing mechanic. There are a couple of abilities and Items that reduce it to nearly zero. Hell hath no fury like a Sky-Scraper Club with Happy Trigger. ---------------- Rate of Fire ---------------- Another pretty self-explanatory one if you asked me. This is how quickly your weapon will shoot if you just hold down the L Button. (or whatever you have assigned as Attack) Clubs technically have this, but instead of being Ranged it's Melee. This is again used as a balancin mechanic, and more powerful shots tend to be slower in number. Most Arms and Bows have slow firing rates, while Claws, Blades, and some Orbitars tend to be lightning fast. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ Weapon Modifiers ~ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Coming Soon!] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ Weapon Stars ~ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Coming Soon!] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ Weapon Value ~ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Coming Soon!] ============================================================================= *~*~* Section 3: Weapon List *~*~* [Weapon] ============================================================================= Fans of the Super Blast Sisters will be familar with Sakurai's tendancy to do a lot with a few buttons, and this game is no exception. Sure there's only three input buttons for this game, but that doesn't stop him from making 10 different attacks per weapon. As Sakurai himself said, each weapon is so drastically different from each other that they can be considered different characters. Even if two players use Bows the way they play may be entirely different because of the bow they use, and since each weapon is unique there's even more room for creativity! As mentioned before this game features nine weapon groups, and each group has twelve weapons in it, for a whopping total of 108 weapons. Each weapon has its own individual stats, so you'll be hard pressed to find two weapons with the same stats, even if they share the same name. This section of the guide is a comprehensive list of every weapon available in the game. Listed will be the weapons fundamental stats. Which means the damage outputs that the weapon does with zero stars in range and melee, as well as no offensive Weapon Modifiers. All of the values are obtained from Training Mode. //----------------------------------------------------------- ||[WEP0] [The weapon's Quick Find Code] ||#000: [Weapon Name] || ||Description: [The In-Game Description: Taken from Idols] ||Unlock Req: [Any Conditions needed to be met in order to use] || ||Weight: [How long it takes to travel 10 metres] ||Charge Time: [How quickly the weapon charges] ||RoF: [The Rate of Fire compared to First Blade] || ||Attack: [Standard Continous Attack] ||FD Attack: [Forward Dash Attack] ||BD Attack: [Back Dash Attack] ||SD Attack: [Side Dash Attack] || ||SC Attack: [Standing Charge Attack] ||FDC Attack: [Forward Dash Charge] ||BDC Attack: [Back Dash Charge] ||SDC Attack: [Side Dash Charge] || ||M Attack: [Melee Attack] ||MD Attack: [Melee Dash Attack] || ||Notes: [Personal Notes from the Guide Writer] || \\---------------------------------------------------------- Rate of Fire is a very hard one to judge, so don't take it too literally. The slower the rate of fire, the more accurate of a repreasentation it is. In the case of a weapon's move dealing more than one attack (ie: a triple shot from a Side Dash Attack) then all values will be listed and seperated with a hyphen, even if the damage from each shot was was the same. (ie: 8.4 - 12.3 - 24.5) If the shot's damage is affected by distance then minimum and the maximum will be posted, and they will be seperated with a Colon. In that case, they will ALWAYS be ordered from close range to far range. (ie: 21.2 : 12.8) Lastly each and every attack will have its range displayed in meters next to the attack, as every attack has its own range. With all of this; hopefully, we can create a comprehensive list of every single weapon in the game, so that anyone can easily compare the stats of the weapons. Due to the daunting nature of the task of recording of this information, I have asked several GameFAQS users to assist me, and they will be given credit wherever it is due. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ Weapon Index [Index] ~ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a comprehensive list of every weapon in the game, but without any informational fluff. Next to each Weapon name there is a Quick Find Code. Notes: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [BLD6] #006: Optical Blade Description: Despite its lightness, the extreme heat this glow-in-the-dark blade generates has the ability to cut even through steel. It also has the longest range of any blade and has charged shots grow in power slightly at long distances. Notes: An excellant weapon in my opinion. It hits harder than most other blades and has a decent rate of fire. The best part about this weapon though are its Dash Shots. At close range they do a huge amount of damage (about as much as a Back Dash Charge Shot) and are easily spammable. It makes this weapon great for approaching enemies to get in close for a Melee combo. Its also got a wicked cool design. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ Staff ~ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STF1] #013: Insight Staff Description: Staffs have long attack ranges with shots that generally get stronger the farther they travel. They're weak in melee combat, however. The Insight Staff is a well-balanced choice for learning this type of weapon. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STF2] #014: Orb Staff Description: The Orb Staff's jewel raises its melee power. Its shot strength doesn't vary much, making it effective at any range. And while these shots lack in damage, distance, and knock-back ability, their large size makes hitting foes a breeze. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STF3] #015: Rose Staff Description: The Rose Staff is the product of a desire to combine beauty and lethality. The branbles it fires have exceptional attack power but travel slowly. On the plus side, this weapon charges fast, compared to other staffs. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STF4] #016: Knuckle Staff Description: The brutish Knuckle Staff sets itself apart from other staffs by excelling at melee attacks. While its shots still pack a punch, they lack range, lose power as they travel, and charge slowly-so make sure to aim carefully! Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STF5] #017: Ancient Staff Description: The Ancient Staff is a cold and mysterious weapon made by a dead civilization. Its charged shots hang in midair and can paralyze any enemies they strike. This makes the weapon a great fit for defensive play. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STF6] #018: Lancer Staff Description: A staff modeled after an infmous spear said to have slain thousands. It charges quickly, and its shots, although slow moving, are most damaging at close range. Its melee attack is also better than most staffs. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STF7] #019: Flintlock Staff Description: This weapon excels at taking out foes from afar. Its shots increase in power as they fly at blinding speeds, making it a solid weapon for users with good aim. However, its melee attack is among the weakest of any weapon. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STF8] #020: Somewhat Staff Description: Not only is the weapon closer in form and function to a blade than a staff, but it's actually a living creature! Despite its mysterious nature, the Somewhat Staff still retains its weapon type's movement restrictions. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STF9] #021: Scorpio Staff Description:??? Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STFA] #022: Laser Staff Description: The firing range of the Laser Staff is among the longest of any weapon. While it's slow to charge, enemies don't react to the staff's continuous fire, allowing users to silently roast foes from a massively long distance! Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STFB] #023: Dark Pit Staff Description: Staff used by Dark Pit when he hides in Chapter 6. The staff's charged shot does four times the damage at its longest range as it does up close. Continuous fire is also powerful, but lacks size and range. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [STFC] #024: Thanatos Staff Description:??? They improve speed more than any other weapon, useful since they tend to have a short attack range. With a balanced set of qualities, the Tiger Claws' usefulness in battle speaks for itself. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [CLW2] #026: Wolf Claws Description: These wolf-themed claws set foes they strike on fire, dealing additonal damage. Unfortunately, this flame ability limits the weapon's range. Their charged dash shot has a homing ability, something rare among claws. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [CLW3] #027: Bear Claws Description: These claws are like a bear's, with melee attacks among the most devastating of any weapon. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [CLW4] #028: Brawler Claws Description: Not only do these claws grant faster movement than any other weapon, they make you look like the king of the ring! While their other attributes aren't as cool as their speed boost, you can't deny the coolness of two-fist punching action. Weight: Charge Time: RoF: Attack: FD Attack: BD Attack: SD Attack: SC Attack: FDC Attack: BDC Attack: SDC Attack: M Attack: MD Attack: Notes: Fusions: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- [CLW5] #029: Stealth Claws Description: Forged in darkness and wrapped in the bandages of mummies, these claws are nearly invisible, so the targest its fast fire may find it hard to find out exactly who is shooting. The claws do have a lower melee power, however. Weapon Fusion at a glance can seem quite overwhelming, and maybe even a bit chaotic, but there's structure to all this chaos, and this section will show you not only how this mechanic works, but how to plan for and fuse the best weapon you possibly can. First things first, take a look at the chart below. As you should know by now there are nine different weapon groups, and each one can be fused with any other weapon in any other group. Crazy huh? Well the chart below shows you exactly what kind of weapon you'll get by fusing any other two types of weapons.* For example, if you fuse a First Blade and a Gaol Blade you can expect to get a pair of Claws in return. (specifically Tiger Claws) This chart will come in handy when you the type of weapon you want, but not what you need to make it. ____________________________________________ Weapon |Blade |Staff |Claws |Bow |Palm | --------|-------------------------------------------- |Blade |Claws |Claws |Club |Palm |Arm | |--------|--------+--------+--------+--------+-------- |Staff |Claws |Cannon |Arm |Arm |Cannon | |--------|--------+--------+--------+--------+-------- |Claws |Club |Arm |Club |Club |Arm | |--------|--------+--------+--------+--------+-------- |Bow |Palm |Arm |Club |Cannon |Club | |--------|--------+--------+--------+--------+-------- |Palm |Arm |Cannon |Arm |Club |Arm | |--------|--------+--------+--------+--------+-------- |Club |Staff |Claws |Bow |Palm |Blade | |--------|--------+--------+--------+--------+-------- |Cannon |Staff |Blade |Bow |Orbitars|Blade | |--------|--------+--------+--------+--------+-------- |Orbitars|Palm |Club |Staff |Cannon |Bow | |--------|--------+--------+--------+--------+-------- |Arm |Bow |Orbitars|Staff |Blade |Orbitars| |--------|--------+--------+--------+--------+-------- ___________________________________ Weapon |Club |Cannon |Orbitars|Arm | --------|----------------------------------- |Blade |Staff |Staff |Palm |Bow | |--------|--------+--------+--------+-------- |Staff |Claws |Blade |Club |Orbitars| |--------|--------+--------+--------+-------- |Claws |Bow |Bow |Staff |Staff | |--------|--------+--------+--------+-------- |Bow |Palm |Orbitars|Cannon |Blade | |--------|--------+--------+--------+-------- |Palm |Blade |Blade |Bow |Orbitars| |--------|--------+--------+--------+-------- |Club |Orbitars|Orbitars|Claws |Blade | |--------|--------+--------+--------+-------- |Cannon |Orbitars|Palm |Claws |Staff | |--------|--------+--------+--------+-------- |Orbitars|Claws |Claws |Cannon |Palm | |--------|--------+--------+--------+-------- |Arm |Blade |Staff |Palm |Bow | |--------|--------+--------+--------+-------- *There are several exceptions to this chart. They will be explained in great detail in the section on Fusion Indexes, which explains how to know before- hand which two weapons will fuse to create a desired weapon ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ Index Fusion ~ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This section of the Guide covers the Item Index, and how it pertains to Weapon Fusion. The chart above will help you to know what weapon class to expect from your fusions, but not which weapon exactly. In reality, it's very simple to understand though. If you know first grade math, then nothing here should go over your head. So what is "Index" Fusion. Simply put, every item is grouped into one of nine classes, as you well know by this point, but within each class there are twelve weapons. Each one of these weapons has an Index Value associated for the class that it's in. For example, First Blade is under the Blade Class, and its index value is 1. Alternatively Gaol Blade is also under teh Blade Class, but its index value is 12. The Index ranges from 1-12 for each of the nine weapon categories, and in case you hadn't realized yet, every time I've listed the weapons, they have been in the proper Index order. So what exactly does the Index Value mean when fusing weapons? Well when you fuse a weapon, after the game decides what the resulting weapon class will be, it simply adds the two indexes together to get the new Index of your planned weapon. If the number is greater than 12, it simply wraps back around to 1 and continues from there. The simplest way to write this formula out is: (Index A + Index B) Mod 12 = Index C Mod is a function that will divide a number and provide only the remainder. In this case, we are using Mod to divide by 12, so taht we can get the remainder which would serve as our Index. A practical example of this in action is as follows: (1 + 3) Mod 12 = 4 Since Mod does not go into four at all, it can only provide 4 as the remainder, but if we go over 12: (1 + 12) Mod 12 = 1 Twelve goes into 13 once with a remainder of one, and provide that as the answer. We use the Mod function because of the "wrap-around" nature of the Weapon Indices (plural of Index). Instead of saying that any number over 12 just gets wrapped back to one, we can use Mod to do it for us automatically. If you're doing this yourself, you can just as easily subtract 12 from any result you get if it's over 12, and the calculator on your computer SHOULD have a Mod function for you to use if you need it. That being said, every weapon is created in two steps. First, the class is decided by which two weapon classes are being provided, and then the Index value of your new weapon is created by the aforementioned formula. A good example of it in action was actually already posted in this guide. Remember my example of First Blade + Gaol Blade? Looking at the chart, you can see that any Blade plus any Blade will result in Claws, and since First Blade has a value of 1, and the Gaol Blade has a value of 12, then the result would be Claws 1, or the "Tiger Claws" On that note, it's important to mention that weapons with a value of 12 are very important to Weapon Fusion. If you hadn't noticed already, because the numbers wrap around if they're over 12, 12 means the Index stays the same no matter what other weapon it gets combined with. 12 + 7 = 7 and so on. This means that creating an infinite loop becomes much easier with these weapons. Although you'll have to come up with more and more Value 12 weapons in order to infitely cycle through them, it's a great way to easily power up a weapon you already have. This will be covered in much greater detail in the "weapon planning" section. Now that I'm through with the explanations, I can finally get to the text dump. Below is a list of every weapon in the game as well as its associated Index. Simply use the chart to show which weapon class you'll get, and the formula to show which index you'll get. --------------- -------------- --------------- Blade Staff Claws --------------- -------------- --------------- First.........1 Insight.......1 Tiger.........1 Burst.........2 Orb...........2 Wolf..........2 Viper.........3 Rose..........3 Bear..........3 Crusader......4 Knuckle.......4 Brawler.......4 Royal.........5 Ancient.......5 Stealth.......5 Optical.......6 Lancer........6 Hedgehog......6 Samurai.......7 Flintlock.....7 Raptor........7 Bullet........8 Somewhat......8 Artillery.....8 Aquarius......9 Scorpio.......9 Cancer........9 Aurum........10 Laser........10 Beam.........10 Palutena.....11 Dark Pit.....11 Viridi.......11 Gaol.........12 Thanatos.....12 Pandora......12 --------------- -------------- --------------- Bow Palm Club --------------- -------------- --------------- Fortune.......1 Violet........1 Ore...........1 Silver........2 Burning.......2 Babel.........2 Meteor........3 Needle........3 Skyscraper....3 Divine........4 Midnight......4 Atlas.........4 Darkness......5 Cursed........5 Earthmaul.....5 Crystal.......6 Cutter........6 Ogre..........6 Angel.........7 Pudgy.........7 Halo..........7 Hawkeye.......8 Ninja.........8 Black.........8 Sagittarius...9 Virgo.........9 Capricorn.....9 Aurum........10 Aurum........10 Aurum........10 Palutena.....11 Viridi.......11 Hewdraw......11 Phosphora....12 Great Reaper.12 Magnus.......12 --------------- -------------- --------------- Cannon Orbitars Arm --------------- -------------- --------------- EZ............1 Standard......1 Crusher.......1 Ball..........2 Guardian......2 Compact.......2 Predator......3 Shock.........3 Electroshock..3 Poseidon......4 Eyetrack......4 Volcano.......4 Fireworks.....5 Fairy.........5 Drill.........5 Rail..........6 Paw Pad.......6 Bomber........6 Dynamo........7 Jetstream.....7 Bowl..........7 Doom..........8 Boom..........8 End-All.......8 Leo...........9 Gemini........9 Taurus........9 Sonic........10 Aurum........10 Upperdash....10 Twinbellows..11 Centurian....11 Kraken.......11 Cragalanche..12 Arlon........12 Phoenix......12 What good would a list of fusions be if there weren't a couple of renegades trying to confuse everyone? Actually, that'd be a damn good list. Unfortunately for us, Sakurai doesn't seem to want to co-operate, and decided that some weapons need to stray from expectations. Below is a list of weapons that deviate from the normal rules of Fusion. Sometimes they seem to break every rule at that too, and won't even end up as the correct weapon Class, so make sure you pay attention to this brief section. First and foremost I would like to thank Nintendo World Report, for their AR Card list. Without that list I wouldn't have anywhere close to half the Weapon Descriptions I do have, so that's been a HUGE help and an even bigger time saver. I would like to think Japanese Kid Icarus Wiki for discovering the Item Index system used in Weapon Fusion. It made what would have been a ridiculously long list into a simple to understand formula. Perhaps most importantly I would like to thank Masahiro Sakurai and Team Sora, as well as Nintendo and the developers of the Nintendo 3DS, for making this game possible in the first place. Lastly I would like to thank you, the reader, for reading this section, and for giving this guide a purpose. A guide that is not read is useless, so by reading this you have given the Guide purpose. Thank you.
