Analog Stick: This stick can be pushed up, down, left, or right, or diagonal in any direction.

Z Trigger: Also referred to as Z, can be used either before or during the input of cheats.
A, B, X, and Y Buttons: Popular buttons used in many cheats.
Camera Stick: Normally used to change the view during game play. Generally not used in cheats.
Directional Pad: Also known as the D-Pad, this pad can be pushed up, down, left, right. When a cheat says to press "up" without being specific as to which part of the controller to use, it's usually this one.
Start/Pause Button: Can be used either before or during the input of cheats.
