Each registered member has a Member Folder located at http://members.cheatcodes.com/folder.html. Your Member Folder displays summary information from your Member Profile, and contains links to all your personalized content within the Members Only area (like your Watch List, Notification Options, Member Stats, etc.). It's a good idea to bookmark your Member Folder in your Web browser, since it's the perfect place for members to start a visit to CheatCodes.com.
You will be signed out automatically when you close all Web browser windows. Or, you can sign out manually by clicking the Sign Out button in the navigation bar. It is usually not necessary to sign out if you do not share your computer with anyone else. However, if more than one person uses your computer to access CheatCodes.com, or if you're using a public computer, it's best to sign out to ensure the protection of your account information.
Your Member Profile is your account on CheatCodes.com that contains all your membership information. Your Member Profile is actually the combination of two profiles: a Private Profile and a Public Profile.
Your Private Profile contains important information about you, like your Nickname, real first and last name, mailing address, email address, and birth date. Some elements of your Private Profile are required. Some items from your Private Profile can be included in your Public Profile if you choose, but others (like your real name, address, and birth date) are kept private and can not be shared with others.
Your Public Profile contains information about you that you wish to share with other CheatCodes.com visitors. Any elements you choose to display in your Public Profile will be visible to public. You have complete control over the information that appears your Public Profile. The only element of your Public Profile that is not optional is your Nickname. Your Public Profile can contain some of the less sensitive information from your Private Profile (like your gender, which game systems you own, or your email address), and you can add additional information to your Public Profile such as your age, marital status, a personal statement, favorite games, home page, member statistics, and more. You can also control how other CheatCodes.com visitors are allowed to contact you. You can choose to display your email address with your Public Profile, you can allow others to send you email through a form on CheatCodes.com that hides your email address, or you can prevent any contact at all. If you prefer to be contacted via an instant messenger (like ICQ, AIM, Yahoo IM, etc.) you can also include that information.
To edit your Private or Public Profile, select the Edit Your Profile link in the Member Options section of your Member Folder.
Your email address is part of your Private Profile, so you can change it simply by editing your Private Profile. A confirmation email will be sent to both the old and new email address if an email address change is made.
To change your password, select the Change Password link in the Member Options section of your Member Folder.
You can view your Public Profile by clicking on the View My Public Profile link in the Member Options section of your Member Folder, or you can visit http://members.cheatcodes.com/profile.html and enter your Nickname in the provided field. You can also use this page to view any other member's Public Profile if you know their Nickname.
To view a member's Public Profile, visit http://members.cheatcodes.com/profile.html and type in their Nickname.
The information in your Public Profile, and which parts of that information are displayed, can be changed by when you edit your profile.
Public Profiles are visible to the public, so any CheatCodes.com visitor who knows your Nickname can view your Public Profile. Your Nickname is displayed any time you are mentioned on CheatCodes.com - such as when you are given credit for submitting a code, listed as the winner of a contest, etc.
Because Public Profiles are available to the public, we want to help protect your privacy by restricting some elements from your Private Profile from being displayed in your Public Profile. Specifically, we do not allow your real name, your birth date, or your physical address to be displayed in your Public Profile. We do, however, allow you to display your age, which we automatically calculate based on your birth date.
Your Nickname is the public name you're known by as a CheatCodes.com Member. It is displayed whenever you are mentioned on CheatCodes.com (like when you are listed as the contributor of a code, announced as the winner of a contest, etc.) To protect your privacy, we recommend using a Nickname other than your real name to prevent others from looking up information about you. Your Nickname is part of your Member Profile, so you can edit it when you edit your profile.
Your Watch List is a custom list of games you can create to stay informed about new CheatCodes.com content. It is located at http://members.cheatcodes.com/watch.html.
For each of the games on your Watch List, we display the game's name a link to its CheatCodes.com Game Page, the reason you chose to watch the game (you own it, you rent it, or some other reason), the date we last updated content for that game, the total number of content items for that game (hints, cheat codes, FAQs, etc.) and the number of new items added to the site for that game since over the past seven days. Your Watch List allows you to jump directly to the CheatCodes.com Game Page for each game on your list.
There are two ways to add games to your Watch List. The first is to add games manually by selecting the Add Game button on your Watch List page. The second (and quicker) method is to select the Add This Game to my Watch List link on any page dedicated to a particular game, which will automatically add the game to your Watch List.
If you want to remove a game from your Watch List, or change the reason you're watching the game, simply select the Edit List button on your Watch List page.
There are two ways to find out when new content is added for a game on your Watch List. First, you can check your Watch List often to watch for new additions. But the best way to stay informed is to receive a Watch List Alert.
All CheatCodes.com Members receive our weekly newsletter, which contains the latest gaming news, the hottest new codes, hints, and tips, site announcements, and more. If you do not wish to receive the newsletter, you can unsubscribe from the Notification Options page (available from your Member Folder). However, only members who subscribe to our newsletter may participate in CheatCodes.com contests and giveaways. All subscribed members are automatically entered in every contest and giveaway we offer. Limiting contest entries to newsletter subscribers is the best way to make sure we can always get in touch with the winners. Newsletter subscription is also required to use Watch List Alerts and New Release Alerts.
A Watch List Alert is an email message that tells you about CheatCodes.com content updates to the games listed on your Watch List. There are two types of Watch List Alerts: 1) Same Day Alert, which sends you an email on the same day new content is added for a game on your Watch List, and 2) Weekly Alert, which sends you an email once a week and lists all the games on your Watch List with content updated throughout that week.
You must be a newsletter subscriber to activate Watch List Alerts.
A New Release Alert is an email message that tells you when new video game titles are released. The alerts are based on the official release date provided to us by the publisher.
You can choose to receive New Release Alerts for all new releases, or only for games listed on your Watch List.
You must be a newsletter subscriber to activate New Release Alerts.
You can control all of your notification options by selecting the the Edit Your Notification Options link in the Member Options section of your Member Folder.
