Hints

Tree Stealth

First, play the paranoia level. Then go to the inferno side and there will be a tree. Jet pack up to the top. Look down at the top of the tree, in between the leaves you should see the top of the tree. Try to land on this, and then position yourself where you are between the leaves.

Easy Flag Capturing

On the first CTF of campaign, face the enemy waypoint turn right and go up the hill to find a repair pack. Get it and press pack button (o). Stay out of sight and head towards the enemy base. when you get to where you can see the flag have your pack ready to repair and go in holding the repair button (r2). It'ii work 80% of the time.

Secret Statue

Start a one player bot match. Set "Bots" to "Off" and "Max Team" to "1". Choose the Slapdash level under the CTF heading. Go to the vehicle station and get yourself a jet (easier to see). Follow the perimeter of the level (next to the out of bounds wall) until you reach a clearing in the top right corner. Get out and look in the area to find a statue.

Extra Online Chat Features

Before going online, enter CHAT-TEST into your buddy list. You will notice that a few servers have an right arrow in front of their name, these are the rooms that support an additional chat feature. When in one of these rooms, press square. You will notice a list of chat options on screen, simply choose a sequence of text using the corresponding triangle, circle, x, and square buttons. When finished, the selected text should be both said and displayed on-screen. It's still no voice-chat, but it is an improvement. At least now you can organize with your team a little more. (Warning: the chat text screen freezes your character just like the option screen does, this means while inputting text you are defenseless against attacks.)

Host An Online Game With A Linksys Router

The short of it - Forward ports 28000 ~ 28008 to your PS2's IP Address. The long of it - If you have set up your home network with a Linksys router and have tried to host a game without any extra configuration, you probably have not had anyone join yet. This is not because no one likes you, they just can't see your game through your Linksys firewall. It is easy enough to fix, however. From a PC on your network, open up a web browser and go to 192.168.1.1. It will ask you for a user name and password. The factory default settings aaare a blank user name and a password of "admin". (You might want to change this while you are here so no-one can hack your network). Next, go to the "Advanced" tab (yellow one on the end), then to the "Forwarding" tab. Here you can forward specific ports to specific IP addresses. When you first connect with your PS2, Tribes announces an IP address for you (mine is 192.168.1.100). Put this address in the IP Address column. In the Service Port Range columns, enter "28000" and "28008" in the left and right columns respectively. Click "Apply", and you are now free to host your game.

Protect Your Flag & Base

You can protect your flag by surrounding it with mines and also keep remote turrets nearby. You need to keep your generator room protected with remote turrets. To get remote turrets set medium/heavy armor and your backpack needs to be the remote turret. Aim where you want to place it, press circle, and fire (L2). Hope this helps all you newbies.

Extra Points/Kills

An easy way to earn extra points and kills during Deathmatches is to set up as many remote turrets and sensors as possible. You will be awarded extra points just for placing these, plus the turrets will attack and kill most enemies who come within its range, giving whoever set up that turret the kill points. The sensors allow the turrets to attack enemies that are longer distances away from the turrets position. This is also an easier way to hold a base during capture and hold missions/matches.
