It has become a best-selling video game and contiues its legacy with Banjo-Tooie (2000), Banjo Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge (2003) and Banjo Pilot (A racer to be released in Fall 2004). Wheither there will be a "Banjo-Threeie" is still unknown. Anyway, I have gotten ALL 100 JIGGIES, so I figured I'd help everyone who is stuck on something that I've accomplised, because I'm pretty damn good at this game! ABOUT THIS GUIDE: I'm not going to tell you everything about this game because that would be cheap. I'm not telling you where music notes, or minor items are. Using this guide, you'll still be having fun and not simply redaing a document telling you every step of the way. This is really meant to give you an extra edge, but not play the game for you (except for the final boss walkthrough I guess...). So anyway, here we go... ***FAQ's*** I have a few up now. You can email me at [email protected] if you have FAQ's that I can answer. Don't spam me, because I will spam you. Seriously. Ok. Here we go: Q: I've heard rumors about this thing called "Stop 'n' Swop". What is it, and how can I get it? A: Stop 'n' Swop is a secret menu in the "view totals menu". It shows which secret eggs you have found. To learn more about this hidden featrue, see the MORE CHEAT CODES & SECRETS section of this guide Q: How do you kill that supid hermit crab in Treasure Trove Cove!? A: There are 2 ways to kill Nipper: The cheap way is to use Wonder Wing and run into him. The other way is to peck his eyes when he stops flaring his claws around. Q: Help! I'm missing 4 notes in Click Clock Wood! Do you know where they might be? A: A lot of people ask this question, and the answer is simple. The 4 notes most people have trouble with are on the log cabin in winter. They are on the very top, so they can only be got by flying and falling on a single note. If your lucky, you can land on the house and get into a talon trot before you slip. However, successfully executing this is very hard and very unlikely Q: How do you get that extra honeycomb piece in the mouth of the spinning totem pole in the first world? A: Very simple. Blast away the eggs until you have 1 section left. Jump on top and flap flip to grab it. Q: Why does Kazooie eat jiggies when the bear and bird find them? A: Hey, it's a video game-- anything can happen. ***Jiggy list*** Don't ask why there are 100. Only 98 are used and of those 98, you can beat the game with 94. Anyway, here are all 100 jigges!!! Have fun!!! >>>Stop 'n' Swop Remember that Stop 'n' Swop thing I was talking about in the FAQ? Well here's what it is and how to get it: There are many codes you can type in at the sandcastle floor. Certain ones will make a big egg with a "?" appear in a certain room (the actual thing you type in tells you where to find them). Here they are: NOTE: The freaky cow noise is supposed to happen only when you type the word "cheat". Use the beak buster to type CHEATNOWBANJOWILLBEABLETOSEEITONNABNUTSTABLE (Yellow Egg) This one is in Nabnut's house (Click Clock Wood) CHEATNOWDONTYOUGOANDTELLHERABOUTTHESECRETINTHECELLAR (Cyan Egg) This is in the once blocked barrel in the cellar (Mad Monster Mansion) CHEATTHISSECRETYOULLBEGRABBININTHECAPTAINSCABIN (Red Egg) In the captains room (Rusty Bucket Bay) CHEATOUTOFTHESEAITRISESTOREVEALMORESECRETPRIZES (Pink Egg) In the "Sharkfood Island" cave at the top of the pillar (Treasure Trove Cove) CHEATAMIDSTTHEHAUNTEDGLOOMASECRETINTHEBATHROOM (Green Egg) In the 'ol crapper (Mad Monster Mansion) CHEATADESERTDOOROPENSWIDEANCIENTSECRETSWAITINSIDE (Blue Egg) In the once closed door on the cliff (Gobi's Valley) CHEATNOWYOUCANSEEANICEICEKEYWHICHYOUCANHAVEFORFREE (Ice Key) In Wozza's cave behind the Jinjo (Freezeey Peak) Once you get at least one of these, a new menu under "view totals" will appear called "Stop 'n' Swop", containing the eggs and key. What they do or what they're for, I don't know. I guess it's just a fun little mini-quest to do after you beat the game or something. These eggs are used in the sequel to get special moves, but I haven't figured out what they do in Banjo-Kazooie. >>>Honeycomb Booster This isn't really a code or something like that, but it can REALLY help you, especially in the final battle with grunty. Here's what to do: There are multiple note doors in the room with dingpot. Most contain an item booster that gives you the maximum of a certain item. In the door with the largest amount of notes there should be a mini jigsaw puzzle with only 4 pieces. Once you get four more extra jiggies (a total of 98) you'll be able to spell out the puzzle and get your bonus. Now banjo's health has doubled(!), Now the segments have turned red so that when you get hurt the first time, it will change to yellow instead of losing it. >>>Window Stuff in Rusty Bucket Bay Most of the time this code dosen't work, but every once in awhile, you can pull it off. When getting the jiggy behind the propellers, you can make it just by a hair by backtracking the way out of the smokestack. An alternative to this is to run into the window overlooking all the machinery (With the fan switch). Sometimes you'll walk right though and be able to come out right near the propeller, but as I said before, It usually dosen't work. I've only been able to do it about twice. >>>Bottles' Portrait Puzzle Go inside Banjo's house and look directly at the center of the Bottles picture when in first person view. You can now do cool puzzles that enable you to type in cheats that make Banjo or Kazooie look funny. To disable the code type NOBONUS. To do them all at once, type BIGBOTTLESBONUS. >>>Cheato the spell book Cheato, Gruntilda's book of precious spells has been lost. Find him and you can type codes in the sandcatsle floor. Here's what to do: Cheato Book #1 1. Use the boots to go to the area with the Freezzeey Peak picture. Smash the ice ball blocking the tiny tunnel 2. Change into a crocodile and crawl through the tunnel that used to have the ice ball. (You can use transformations in Grunty's Lair, but not very far from the world) 3. Enter BLUEEGGS on the sandcastle floor. This doubles the amount of eggs you can carry. Cheato Book #2 1. Change into a Pumpkin in Mad Monster Mansion. 2. Make your way around the long, thin twisting path. Tap R to give you a better view so you won't fall in the... YUCK!!! What is that crap!!?? OK, lets just call it "znot". Anyway, keep going after a few trips to the bathroom. At the end, go through the tunnel to find Cheato. HINT: If you wan't, you can save time at the cost of a life by diving in the znot instead of navigating the path again. You'll end up on the other side. 3. Enter REDFEATHERS on the sandcastle floor. Cheato Book #3 1. Change into a pumpkin and go inside the old house near the mad monster mansion after killing the gate. 2. With Mumbo's help, morph into Banjo and smash the coffin to reveal a switch. Hit the switch to raise the water level to level 1. Morph into the pumpkin to exit the house. 3. Once the water is at level 1, go into the Rusty Bucket Bay area. In the far corner, you'll find another switch that will raise the water to level 2 4. In the blue-green area that connects the Click Clock Wood area and the Rusty Bucket Bay area, there is a platform with 2 little pipes and a big pipe. Go up and hit the switch that will raise the water to level 3, but will fall after a certain amount of time. 4. Quickly jump down and swim into the Rusty Bucket Bay area. If the level is still 3, look for a hidden room at the surface level of the water that was inaccessable before. Inside awaits Cheato. 5. Enter GOLDFEATHERS on the sandcastle floor. >>>More cheat codes!!! Besides being limited to Cheato's "fair" cheats, you can type in some of your own, and make yourself look like a master mage lord compared to that horrific book with eyes. Just simply type your codes in with beak buster. Here are more codes: CHEATDONTBEADUMBOGOSEEMUMBO---Gives you maximum number of Mumbo Tokens (99) CHEATANENERGYBARTOGETYOUFAR---Gives you all of the energy bar segments. NOTE: Don't do this code if you have the red energy bar, or it will change it back to yellow. Seriously don't do it if you have the red. CHEATAGOLDENGLOWTOPROTECTBANJO---Gives you infinite gold feathers CHEATNOWYOUCANFLYHIGHINTHESKY---Gives you infinite red feathers CHEATLOTSOFGOESWITHMANYBANJOS---Gives you infinite lives CHEATBANJOBEGSFORPLENTYOFEGGS---Gives you infinite eggs I'm sure that there are many more than this. These are the ones that I know of from friends. Happy cheating!!! ***How to beat that damn witch*** I'm sure that a lot of people have a hard time beating Grunty. Like most other video game bosses, figuring out HOW to kill her is the hard part. Actually executing it is the easy part. I've wasted my time putting together a walktrough and tip list of the final battle for your personal happiness. >>>Walkthrough 1. Open up the big locked door by collecting at least 94 jiggies. Dingpot will shoot you up into the arena. 2. Grunty will start by swooping down at you. You can easily outrun this attack, but play it safe with talon trot. When she stops, nail her with your pecking attack. Sometimes she'll chuck a fireball at you. Just run away from it easily. When she uses the homing spell, just take a hit by using wonder wing. Don't worry about running out of gold feathers, because there are infinite amounts of regenerating items along the outer rim of the arena 3. Once the swooping is done, she will go to the edge of the arena and throw fireballs. After 4 throws, she will pause. This should give you a quick chance to jump on the platform and nail her with eggs, but get down if she starts again. After 3 or 4 hits, she will move along and repeat the process. Use the same strategy, but after she moves, the pause will be shorter. To avoid the fireballs, just stand right behind the big platforms surrounding the arena. 4. Next, she'll fly really high up. Use the flight pad and use beak bomb to nail her. When she throws fireballs, tap A to use a feather or two and you'll dodge the spell. If you don't have many feathers left, you can try to dodge by flying as fast as you can, but it's risky. Best to jump down and gather some from the outer rim and fly back up. 5. Once her aerial assault has finished, she'll go to the ground and throw more fireballs. The first thing on your mind right now is probably "Hey, those stupid Jinjos didn't pay me back for saving them!!!" (Save the 10 jiggies that you got). Well here's the Jinjo's time to shine, because they'll actually help you. A bunch of stone Jinjos will appear around the arena (Have you noticed that I say the word "arena" way too much). Fire a few eggs into the small holes in the back of a statue while dodging Grunty's flames. After a few shots, the hole will close and the statue will come to life. After the big Jinjo swarms in on grunty and gives her a whack, do the same for another statue, and another Jinjo will hit Grunty. Clear all of the statues, and move along to her final phase. 6. Grunty will speed up her fireball rate, so fake her out by moving one way and quickly moving the opposite way. The "Almighty Jinjonator" has been summoned and this is probably the hardest challenge in the battle yet. You have to fire eggs in the holes, but it takes about 3 or 4 to close up a hole. You have to do that for all four holes--- while dodging the insane cascade of fireballs being thrown at you. You should fire 3 eggs at a time and then RUN. Firing more will take too long and you will be hit. Another good way to dodge the flame is to stand behind the Jinjonator, but not touching it. Then run up to the statue, right ahead of the spell. Once the Jinjonator has been activated, RUN!!! Because right before her death (yay!), she will throw the fireballs even faster, and they will do double damage!!! OMFG!! AHHH!!. When she falls down from the arena and gets buried alive by a big rock, you will rejoice in laughter because you beat the boss of the game... BUT YOU HAVEN'T BEATEN THE GAME YET... A real Banjo-Kazooie Master must get all 100 jiggies (I did), all 900 notes (I did), all of the secret eggs (I did), and all of the extra honeycomb pieces (I did). Bonne Chance. ***Legal Stuff, Copyrights, etc.*** __________________________ /|Banjo Kazooie Game Guide| <-----Whoa! 3D Box! /|~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| /|________________________| ////////////////////////// Banjo-Kazooie (c)1998 Nintendo/Rare. I don't care if you put it on your dorky website. ***Final Stuff*** I probably am one of the few people who still are entertained by 20th century 64-bit amusement.Anyway, in the style of David Letterman, I will proudly present--- THE TOP TEN REASONS WHY BANJO-KAZOOIE IS SUCH AN AWESOME GAME (Because I'm such a nerd and I'll admit it) 10- Probably the most creative and unique adventure game for N64 (BESIDES ZELDA) 9- Even if you lose, you still get to see Grunty as a sexy beast with a nice iece of ass! The problem is that she is GREEN!!! 8- The backround music is catchy. It's up there with Gerudo Valley. (DAMN! I THINK I'M GONNA MAKE A ZELDA GUIDE...) 7- The enemies all have cool names, such as "Bigbutt", "Gruntling", "Buzzbomb", or "THENRAMUSTWITHERUPANDDIE [subliminal message alert!]." 6- There are lots of mini-games that actually don't suck. 5- Every single freakin object has eyes. Cool 4- Kazooie farts eggs 3- A bird can actually carry a fat bear while flying. (WHAT IS THE AIR-SPEED VELOCITY OF AN UNLADEN SWALLOW? WELL, KAZOOIE PROBABLY ISN'T AN AFRICAN OR A EUROPEAN SWALLOW, SO IT'S QUITE HARD TO PREDICT). 2- Mumbo Jumbo is high-octane entertainment 1- THE GAME IS NOT ANIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Rareware is British ya know) Well, That pretty much wraps it up. I'll work on some patches and fill in the holes where I missed a few jiggies. Thanks to all who helped me with this guide, and thanks to Rareware and Nintendo for making the game. _______________________ /| | /| THE END | /| | /|_____________________| ////////////////////////
