                             1. VERSION HISTORY
=============================================================================
Version 0.54 (April 8, 2002): Oops. Had a typo in there saying that the
Industrial Zone was chapter 5. It's not. I fixed the error, and completed
the guide up to the Canyons, as promised. Tomorrow, I am going to spend some
time revising the weapons section and the bestiary, and should have that
dressed up for the next version. I will also complete the walkthrough up to
the Device. The next version should be out in a couple days. I'd say by
April 10th, be on the lookout for it.

Version 0.37 (April 7, 2002): And so, my next foray through the world of
Nosgoth begins. I have finished the walkthrough up to Chapter 4 and got a
list of all of Kain's Dark Gifts ready, though the weapons and bestiary
sections are going to take me some more time. I have also finished the Combat
Tactics section, seeing as how combat is a bit more detailed in this game
than in Soul Reaver 2. My next version should be out in a few days, with any
luck, and I will have the walkthrough complete to at least the Canyons.

                        2. INTRODUCTION TO THE GUIDE
=============================================================================
A quick note about my FAQ's: I write FAQ's to assist other players in their
game, not to show off my reknown ASCII artwork abilities (which they aren't).
If you are reading this FAQ solely in hopes of seeing some nifty artwork
created within the confines of ASCII's limited character support, then you
are reading the wrong FAQ.

This does not mean that I will not endeavour to include such artwork where I
deem it to be necessary, nor does this mean that I will not, from time to
time, include such artwork just for the heck of it in my FAQ's. It simply
means that I consider the guide itself to be the most important part of the
FAQ (naturally), and refuse to waste valuable time creating ASCII images that
serve no real purpose when I could be improving the guide for my readers.
'Nuff said.

What this guide is, however, is a detailed walkthrough meant to lead the
player step by step through the world of Nosgoth, but without giving out the
key plot points or spoiling the story. If that is what you seek, then you
have come to the right place.

Hope you all enjoy the guide!

                        3. INTRODUCTION TO THE GAME
=============================================================================
In this game you once again control the infamous vampire Kain, the one-time
Balance Guardian who ultimately decided to rule Nosgoth in its damnation.
He has been defeated at the hands of the Sarafan Lord, and seeks revenge
against his one true adversary. And of course, the prospect of returning to
the position of Ruler of Nosgoth is always on his mind.

This Legacy of Kain series game is set about 200 years after the first Blood
Omen, which was released for PSX/PSone six or so years ago. It takes place
centuries before the events of Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2. Basically the
games go in straight order: Blood Omen 1 and 2, then Soul Reaver 1 and 2.
And this is what confuses me most. It seems that Crystal Dynamics just jumps
around from timeline to timeline, and what you thought was once true turns
out to be false in the end. Oh well, you'll see what I mean later.

=============================================================================
                             4. CHARACTER BIOS
=============================================================================
                                   -KAIN-

Since the events of Blood Omen, Kain had become a commander of an army of
vampires that are hell-bent on dominating Nosgoth. In response to his rise to
power, another faction "appeared" in the land: The Sarafan (who were the ones
who killed Janos Audron loooong before Kain was even a twinkle in Mortanius'
eye), a group of militant humans led by a mysterious and powerful figure
known only as the Sarafan Lord.

Determined to wipe out Kain's army of vampires, the Sarafan and Kain's army
battled for years upon years, until it finally ended with the Sarafan
victorious. The Sarafan Lord battled Kain and won, throwing Kain off a cliff
to his apparent death, then taking the Soul Reaver with him.

Since then, the vampire Umah has nurtured and revived Kain back to health
over the course of about 200 years (ergo, Rip Van Winkle has nothing against
Kain). During Kain's slumber, the Sarafan have taken almost complete control
of Nosgoth. The only thing that the vampires have is the Cabal, a resistance
group centralized somewhere in the capital city of Meridian. Kain is pretty
much forced into joining them, as there is no other real option, and he
becomes their perfect weapon. Most of the Sarafan believe him to be dead, so
they no longer recognize exactly who he is, allowing him to sneak around
pretty much undetected.

His mission is to regain his strength and destroy the Sarafan Lord, a mission
he is happy to accept, though he wishes he could deal with the Lord sooner
than the Cabal will allow him.

For more information on Kain's past (and his future, for that matter), see
his bio in my Soul Reaver 2 FAQ.

                                   -UMAH-

The beautiful vampire that took Kain in after his defeat, and who has been
guarding him since then. Umah is responsible for training Kain and building
him back up to his former vampiric glory, as well as guiding him through the
eariler stages of the game.

The ambitious vampire is a member of the vamire resistance and brings Kain to
meet their leader, Vorador, as soon as he awakens. After this point, you
don't have a great deal of meetings with her until the end stages of the
game.

                                 -VORADOR-

Yes, this pedantic old fool is back somehow, although according to history as
set in Blood Omen, Vorador was beheaded at the hands of Moebius about 250
years before this game even starts. Oddly enough, you even see him in the
game's opening cinema sequence battling against the armies of the Sarafan.
How he is here now, I still don't know. Maybe the game will reveal more...

In any case, Vorador is, as would be expected, the leader of the vampiric
resistance called the Cabal. He is presumably still the most ancient and
powerful of Nosgoth's surviving vampires. That is, until...

                               -JANOS AUDRON-

Another vampire comes back from the grave...

Even Janos returns to this game, despite the fact that he had his heart torn
out by the Sarafan Raziel centuries ago. But why he is here, and what his
plans are and were, I shall leave a mystery for you to discover as the game
progresses, although I will say that his appearance makes much more sense
than Vorador's. At least the game explains why Janos is here.

For the sake of argument, I will also say that as you play this game, the
ending of Soul Reaver 2 will make much, much more sense...

                             -THE SARAFAN LORD-

The mysterious Sarafan Lord was the defeater of Kain. At the time of their
battle, the Lord had in his possession a magical artifact that disrupts the
power of the Soul Reaver, Kain's weapon of choice. With the Soul Reaver's
power sealed, Kain was helpless against the Lord, and was so defeated.

It was the Lord that revived the age old order called the Sarafan, but his
true purposes remain veiled to all but himself and a select few others. Since
Kain's defeat, he has recruited several vampires into the ranks of the
Sarafan as high ranking lieutenants. These vampires all joined the Sarafan as
a means to escape death at their hands. They did not imagine the vampire
resistance to last very long. Nevertheless, survival is not an excuse for
betrayal in Kain's eyes, and he looks forward to dealing with these vampires.

But the Lord is an odd character. The Sarafan is an order of humans dedicated
to the destruction of vampires, but no human can live for as long as the Lord
has...

=============================================================================
                    6. WEAPONS AND DARK GIFT INFORMATION
=============================================================================
CLAWS: Kain's default and ever-present means of defense. Claws are quick, as
usual, but don't cause a great deal of damage, also as usual.
Grab attack 1: Squeeze throat.
Grab attack 2: Knock the victim across the room a bit.
Stealth kill 1: Break neck.
Stealth kill 2: "Janos Audron"'s a victim, ripping the heart right out of
their chest and dropping it on the gound in front of them.
Power: Minimal

CLUB: This weapon is nothing more than a wood club with some spikes thrown on
the end. They do turn up more than any other weapon in the early stages of
the game, though, and it deals a bit more damage than claws.
Grab attack 1: Uppercut.
Grab attack 2: Bat the victim across the room.
Stealth kill 1: Decapitation.
Stealth kill 2: Swings from last week and clobbers the victim.
Power: Weak

SHORT SWORD: Dagger-ish looking things carried by many thieves and lower
ranking guards, these weapons don't do a great deal of damage, but are swift.
Grab attack 1: Side stab.
Grab attack 2: Heart stab (how they live is beyond me).
Stealth kill 1: Cut throat.
Stealth kill 2: Throat stab.
Power: Low

LONG SWORD: Pretty much your standard long sword. Easy to use in combat, as
is pretty much every weapon in this game, and deals a fair amount of damage.
Grab attack 1: Smash face with pommel.
Grab attack 2: Impale (how they live is beyond me).
Stealth kill 1: Abdomen slice.
Stealth kill 2: Throat stab.
Power: Medium

SARAFAN AXE: An axe that Marcus' mentally controlled dogs carry, that is
shaped in the manner of the Sarafan symbol. Although they look pretty cool,
they aren't really a good weapon unless no other weapon is available.
Grab attack 1: Same as club.
Grab attack 2: Same as club.
Stealth kill 1: Same as club.
Stealth kill 2: Same as club.
Power: Weak

GLYPH SWORD: Carried by the Glyph Guards, these gigantic swords deal a great
deal of damage to anyone foolish enough to get in the blade's path.
Grab attack 1: Same as Long Sword.
Grab attack 2: Beheading. They die.
Stealth kill 1: Beheading.
Stealth kill 2: Kain reaches all the way back and brings the blade down on
the head of his victim. It would be neater if the victim fell into two
halves. I mean, they did it in MK2 already, right?
Damage: High

BROADSWORD: Generally carried by Glyph Knights, these things do some massive
amounts of damage, but they are rather slow.
Grab attack 1:
Grab attack 2:
Stealth kill 1:
Stealth kill 2:
Damage: High

DOUBLE-BLADED SWORD: Darth Kain wields this weapon fairly well. It does a
decent amount of damage and is surprisingly fast. The spring loaded blades
make for some interesting grab attacks.
Grab attack 1: Side stab
Grab attack 2: Head stab (how they live is beyond me)
Stealth kill 1: Kain does his reenactment of the fight between Qui Gon Jinn
and Darth Maul.
Stealth kill 2: Throat stab. The Darth Maul kill is better.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                 DARK GIFTS
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
MIST FORM: Mist form is usable only when Kain is standing in mists. Once you
use the gift, Kain will become invisible to everyone. The Sarafan, however,
can detect Kain, although they cannot see him. You can tell a Sarafan from a
normal warrior. They glow yellow and point their sword around as they search
for you, and regardless of where you go or how you get there, they will
always come right for you. You cannot sneak up on a Sarafan. Don't even
bother trying. All that will happen is you'll get behind them, and then they
will turn around and start stabbing you before you even know what happened.

Other enemies, on the other hand, have no clue where Kain is, unless you are
standing directly in front of them. Otherwise, they'll keep patrolling at
random until they just give up. If you can sneak up behind one of these guys,
you can get a stealth kill. When you see a skull appear over the head of your
target (you must have a weapon or claws readied), press square or up and
square to execute the attack. Each weapon has two different stealth kills.
Enemies will not be able to detect Kain upon the execution of a stealth kill.
Actually, it tends to draw them closer as they come to investigate their
friend's dead body, making them that much more of a target.

Quote: "Only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and
I'm not sure about the the former." -Albert Einstein

How true.

Kain starts the game with this Gift.

FURY: Fury is activated with the Rage Meter. Once it is ready, Kain can use
the gift to exectute a powerful attack that cannot be blocked by any enemy,
although if you are out of range it will miss, and it can be sidestepped.

Kain starts the game with this Gift.

JUMP: One of the most useful gifts that Kain will acquire. This gift allows
Kain to leap great distances, and often is his only method of reaching an
otherwise inaccessible area.

You can also target enemies while using this gift. Simply activate the gift,
and then move the landing indicator over an enemy. It will turn red once you
are on target. Then, just use the button to select you landing spot and you
will smack the crap out of the enemy as you pass him. The attack is strong
enough to kill some enemies in a single hit.

This gift is acquired from Faustus in the Den level.

CHARM: Another of Kain's more useful gifts, this allows Kain to take control
of any normal human that he can see, within a certain range. If you move the
human out of range, control will automatically revert back to Kain.

This is the only way Kain has of reaching certain switches and bypassing
glyph energy barriers.

This gift is acquired from Marcus in the Upper City level.

BERSERK: This gift is almost exactly like Fury, except it takes longer to
charge but causes more damage. It is also harder to sidestep, since Kain is
launching a long series of attacks. He tends to just follow the enemy around.
The combo ends in a rather nifty Matrix-style slow motion effect, assuming
the last hit lands. This powerful attack can kill many enemies instantly,
depending on the weapon you are using.

This gift is acquired from Sebastian in the Industrial Quarter level.

TELEKINESIS: Can activate certain switches from long range. Also can launch
a bolt of energy to knock enemies back a little bit, and it causes a fair bit
of damage, too. This power will see hardly any end once you get into the
Eternal Prison. A good tactic to use in combat is to launch a force bolt at
an enemy, then back up a bit and wait for the power to charge up again. He
will come running toward you, but if you backed up enough, he won't reach you
before you can hit him with another Force bolt. Keep doing this and he will
either be dead or very weak by the time he finally gets to you.

This gift is acquired from the Seer in the Canyons level.

IMMOLATE: Kain's single most powerful attack. It requires a full Rage Meter
to activate, and a little bit of time to execute, but if whatever it is
you're targeting (or one of his friends) doesn't stop you, someone will die.
This attack will kill any enemy other than a Boss, and seeing as how it's the
last power you will obtain, that boss is the Sarafan Lord, so not being able
to kill him in a single attack is kind of expected.

This gift is acquired from Magnus in the Eternal Prison level.

=============================================================================
                             7. COMBAT TACTICS
=============================================================================
While in Soul Reaver 2 you can choose to be a humane Angel of Death, in Blood
Omen 2 Kain's survival depends on the slaying of everyone, and I do mean
everyone, he encounters and the drinking of their blood. By drinking the
blood of a fallen enemy, you gain what is called "Lore", which fills up a
little vial right next to your health meter with purple fluid. Once that vial
has been filled, Kain's health meter will grow larger, as will the Lore
meter. Never let anyone live if you can help it.

On to the combat! Soul Reaver 2's sidestepping feature was a lot more
dependable than Blood Omen's, I can tell you that. Sidestepping in Blood Omen
2 only causes the enemy to face you as you step, resulting in you stepping
right into his or her sword strokes. The only circumstance where you can get
away with a sidestep is when an enemy commits himself to a charging attack,
which is indicated by a yellow or red flash before the attack. The yellow one
can be blocked, in case you are not ready to sidestep. The red one, however,
cannot be blocked, so if you don't sidestep you are going to get hit hard.

Since sidestepping is pretty much out of the question, you must rely on being
able to block, which is a bad thing and a good thing. The bad thing about it
is that when Kain autofaces an enemy, he automatically draws his weapon.
Well, blocking while the weapon is drawn causes the weapon to take damage,
and after so much damage is dealt to the weapon, it breaks. Weapon damage is
also incurred if the enemy blocks your attacks.

On the plus side, blocking attacks causes Kain's Rage Meter to increase. The
Rage Meter can be located at the top left hand side of the screen. It looks
like a little blue (or red, depending on the Dark Gift you have selected) bar
increasing from left to right as Kain blocks attacks. Once this meter has
reached a certain level, Kain is capable of unleashing some devastating
attacks from his Dark Gifts. If the Rage indicator is red, that means that
you have a Gift selected that can be activated once the Rage Meter reaches a
certain level. Once it can be used, you will see Kain glow red when he faces
an enemy. Once this happens, you can activate the Gift and really mess up
your poor victim. For more detail on the various Dark Gifts, see the Gifts
section.

=============================================================================
                            8. GAME WALKTHROUGH
=============================================================================
Unfortunately, Crystal Dynamics didn't bother to include a compass in this
game, so I will do my absolute best to give you proper and easy to follow
directions without its aid.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1: The Slums "Welcome to Meridian"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The long initial cinema scene explains the story up to the point that Kain
finally awakens, and then Umah takes Kain on a little tour of the slums to
feed. Initially, Kain can attack, but cannot feed, so the first civilians you
run into you can just leave alone. Killing them serves no purpose at all. Of
course, you can kill them out of spite, if you wish.

The slums level is basically nothing more than a tutorial to let you get used
to controlling Kain and learning how to keep yourself alive. Note that blood
is constantly draining from your health vial, so don't dally around too long
in an area.

Once you get control of Kain, head straight down the street past the first
checkpoint. There are a pair of civilians here, if you just want to kill
them. Follow the road as it turns to the left and under a catwalk. Just past
this point at the dead-end is another cutscene. To the left of the gate is a
pair of little shacks. Jump to the top of them to reach the next area, where
Umah and another cinema await.

Turn to the right and float down to the street below. Head around the corner
to the left. There are a couple of people here, but they pose no threat. Jump
over the gate to the left and proceed. Another civilian is just past there.
Continue down the street and turn the corner to the right. Head down the
small ramp and you will be prompted to use a lever to open the next gate. Do
so. Umah waits on the other side, but she runs off once you flip the switch.

Follow the tunnel as it turns to the left past a little shack. Another cinema
is at the end of the next passage, showing a gate raising behind you. You are
prompted that highlighted objects can be manipulated. Move to the gate in
front of you and head through the door on your right. Head to the checkpoint
just beyond the door and head through the next door. A cinema ensues.

After the cinema, turn to the right and head over the bridge, following the
stairs to the left. Continue to the ground level, where a hapless prisoner is
waiting to be fed upon. From this point forward, you can drink from your
victims, so let no one live. Drink from the prisoner to see another cinema
explaining "lore" and to open the gate to your right.

Head through the open gate and around the tunnel as it turns to the right. In
the next passage, another prisoner is located to your left. Kill her and
drink. Your lore meter will have filled, and Kain will become more powerful.
Move to the lever at the end of the passage and use it to open the next door.
The lever will not function until you have filled your lore meter. Proceed
through the door.

A civilian waits on the other side. Kill her and then head up the stairs
towards the next checkpoint. A cinema ensues explaining vampires' weakness
to water and Lore Chests. After the cinema, trigger the checkpoint then turn
left and jump over the water. Move to the Lore Chest and open it to once
again fill your lore meter. To the right, a person waits to die. Head over
the docks to the little house, and kill the person there. From the steps,
head to the left side of the house to find another Lore Chest.

After killing the civilian and using the Chest, head back to where you found
the first Lore Chest. Turn right around the wall and head down the next dock
to your right, where another civilian waits. After getting her lore, turn
around and head to the green energy barrier to your right to trigger another
cinema.

Follow Umah back around the next corner to the right. Head down the ramp
leading into the sewers. The gate behind you will rise once you reach the
bottom of the ramp, where a checkpoint waits. Head past the checkpoint to the
right, where Umah and another cinema await. She will teach you to block and
attack. She also teaches you how to grab enemies.

After your lessons are complete, head straight down the corridor and then
turn to the left down the next corridor, at the end of which you need to turn
left again through the door. Head down the ramp and trigger the next
checkpoint. To the right of the checkpoint is a glyph energy powered wheel.
Turn it to drain the water from the room. Once the water is gone, jump into
the pit and jump to the top of the other side. Turn right and head through
the door and up the next ramp. A cinema starts as you go thorough the door.

The enemy you must fell is right in front of you. The corridor to the left
leads only to a dead-end, with no secrets to be had. Move to your victim and
attack. Blocking Umah's previous attacks has filled Kain's rage bar to a
level that he can use his Dark Gift "Fury". Select it and use it to quickly
defeat the guard. If you want, you can save the Fury for a more difficult
adversary, since a simple three hit combo will drain enough life from him
that all he will be able do is crawl away from you. Kick him a couple of
times and he will die.

After killing the guard, grab his club and head around the corner to your
left, where you will find another Lore Chest. Afterward, turn around and head
down the corridor and then left through the door. Proceed up the ramp to the
next door, where another cinema will show you how to use Mist Form. After the
cinema, head down the stairs in front of you and trigger the next checkpoint.
The door to your right is blocked, and the stairs in front of you lead
nowhere as well. Turn to the left and assume a Mist Form to sneak up on and
kill the thug and civilian there. The little building to the left has a Lore
Chest behind it. Once you have used the Chest, head back to the checkpoint
and up the stairs to your left.

Move around the building to your left and proceed through the opened gate.
There are a couple of clubs laying on the ground here, and a hapless civilian
walking around doing nothing. Kill him. After killing him, activate the
Weapon Chest that is right in front of you. Use the extra power to kill the
other civilian that is standing next to the gate to your right. Move past the
gate and a cinema will start. Umah tells you what you must do.

Around the corner to the right of the glyph energy box is a thug waiting to
die. Killing him will give you enough Lore to level up again. There is also a
Lore Chest back there. After getting your lore, activate the glyph energy to
power the next gate, then hit the switch to open it.

After the cinema, head straight down the next corridor to the checkpoint. In
the next area, a Lore Chest waits to your left, and a thug kills a civilian
for you up ahead. Grab the Lore Chest then kill the thug and drink from him
and the civilian he killed for you. After that, head under the archway. To
your right is a lot of deadly water, and a thug stands in the mist in front
of you. There is another Lore Chest to your left. Kill the thug, then grab
the Chest. Head down the passage to the right of the Chest, which leads to a
glyph energy box, complete with lever. Flip the switch.

Double back under the archway and head up the stairs leading to the top of
the archway. A civilian stands by a glyph energy box. Kill him, then follow
the walkway around the corner to the left. Take the right turn, where there
is another civilian waiting death, and a barred door in front of you. To the
right there is a woman next to a house, but trying to glide over the water to
reach her will only lead you to death. Kill the civilian that is up here with
you and then head through the door, which is now powered with glyph energy.

Move down the ramp and through the door where there is a checkpoint. There is
also mist on the ground, so assume a Mist Form. Around the corner is a busted
steam pipe. Kain cannot move through the steam, so use the glyph wheel on the
right to shut it off. Once it is off, sneak up and kill the thug standing just
beyond the pipe. Head down the stairs to the ground in front of you. Two
thugs are at the bottom of the stairs. Ignore them (for now), and instead
turn around and head back toward the locked gate. A civilian stands here, and
on the wall is another Lore Chest. After grabbing that, head back and kill
the thugs, then move to Umah.

After the cinema, a glyph energy barrier will block your way from following
Umah. With your back to the barrier, head through the door in front of you
and to your right. On the other side, a thug guards a ladder that you need to
get up. Kill him and climb the ladder. Once up the ladder, a Lore Chest sits
in front of you. Grab it, then back up to the top of the ladder again. Turn
left and jump on top of the building and use it to reach the next checkpoint.

From the checkpoint, jump across the gap to the next building. Head to the
chimney and jump down onto the roof below, where you can reach a catwalk. On
the ground to the right side of the catwalk (as you look to the door at the
end of the catwalk) is a thug, with a ladder leading back to the roof you are
standing on. Jump down and kill him, then use the ladder to return to the
roof. Jump across the gap to where the civilian is standing. Kill him, then
move through the door to your right. Grab the short sword laying on the
ground, then jump across to the next building and move through the door.

A crate blocks the next door you need to go through, but moving to it shows
you a prompt on how to get it out of your way. Move the crate and go through
the door. Turn to the left and head down the walkway. The corner to the left
leads to a dead-end. Take the passage to your right and kill the civilian
guarding the broken switch around the corner, then double back and go through
the door on your right.

Kill the civilian in here, and then grab the Lore Chest on the right side of
the lift. After getting it, get on the lift and ride it down. Head through
the room it drops you off in and go through the door on the far left wall.
Hitting the glyph energy switch will cause the gate to its right to close,
but there isn't anything on the other side you need to grab, so hit it. Turn
around and head back towards the door, but turn left and head down the alley.
A thug waits there, and if you have killed every enemy up to now, your lore
meter should be full again once you drink from him. To the left of the fire
is a dead-end, and to the right of the fire is another dead-end. Head back
through the door and up the lift.

Move back to where you killed the civilian next to the broken switch and head
through the now open gate. Turn left and jump to the ground below. Turn to
the right, where you will find another civilian. Kill her, then head around
to the left, toward a locked gate. A couple of thugs show up, chasing a poor
civilian. Kill them all, then activate the switch to open the gate. When you
do, the gate on the other side closes. Grab the box, and pull it into the
path of the first gate, then hit the switch again. The other gate opens, and
the box keeps the first gate open enough for you to pass through.

Heading under the second gate triggers another cinema scene, and the end of
Chapter 1.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 2: The Den "Creatures of the Night"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kain's mission in this chapter is to find the Smuggler's Tunnel. The first
step in getting there is to find the tavern.

Once you control Kain, head down the stairs in front of you and turn to the
left, activating the checkpoint and killing the civilian there. Two more
civilians await their deaths nearby. Heading down the passage to the left
leads to a closed gate. Turn right from the wooden walkway, and head toward
the Lore Chest. On the wall to the left of the chest is a glyph energy box
and switch. Hit the switch, then double back to the closed gate, which you
can open now thanks to the glyph energy.

On the way back, you will encounter a thug and another civilian. Kill them
both and grab the club from the thug. Turn the wheel until the gate is open
enough to pass through, and head through it. The gate will close behind you
shortly. There is mist on the ground, so you can assume a Mist Form. Do so
and kill the two guards. Drop your club and grab one of their short swords.
After that, climb up the ladder in the circular room and go through the door
at the top.

A checkpoint waits on the other side of the door. To the left is a raised
half bridge. To the right are some civilians. Head to the right and kill the
civilians, then go down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs is a small
building with a Lore Chest on it's left side, and death by water on the
right. Grab the Lore Chest then turn around and follow the walkway around to
the right and up the stairs there. From the top of the stairs, head to the
left and deal with the two thugs and civilian there. After you have finished
feeding, head left down the next set of stairs and kill the civilians there.

Head up the next set of stairs and around the bend to the right, and then
down the stairs to the left, where another thug waits. Kill him and then hit
the glyph energy switch on the wall. Doing so activates the bridge. Double
back to where the bridge was, cross it, and head to the door directly
opposite the bridge. Go through the door.

In the room, there is nothing but a set of stairs going down to your
immediate right as you enter the room. Go down the stairs and follow the
passage around to the right. A guard stands ready in the next room, so kill
her off and grab her sword if you need to replace your due to wear. After
you have equipped yourself, activate the checkpoint and move to the wheel
directly to the left of the entranceway. Open the door and grab the Lore
Chest. The door on the opposite wall of the entrance needs glyph power to
function. Move to the door and go right, around the corner, and up the
stairs. At the top of the stairs, take a right and go into the next room,
where a couple of civilians and a guard wait to die.

After finishing with them, you can go through the door flanked by windows to
wait for some civilians to pass through the energy barrier. Two will come
through if you wait for them. If you choose not to wait, you can kill them
later. Once you are done, head back into the building you came from and head
through the other door, where you will find a glyph energy switch. Hit the
switch to power the door on the lower level. Head back down to the door and
turn the wheel to open it, and head through the gate to find another glyph
energy switch and a Weapon Chest. Hit the switch and grab the chest, then
head back up the stairs.

Head out of the building and move to the energy barrier. As soon as the
energy you released finally reaches the switch to the left, you can
deactivate the barrier. Do so, and head through. TO the left are some mists
and a pair of thugs. Switch to mist form and kill said thugs. From the energy
barrier's former position, head straight to the next road and turn left.
There is a Lore Chest there for you. After getting it, turn around and head
back to the main road and take another left. Head through the passage in
front of you and turn right.

There are a couple of guards in this room, standing on mists. Guess what to
do. After you have finished with them, head straight down the alley and to
the right, where you will find a closed gate. Use the wheel to open the gate.
Shift back into mist form and kill the guard in the next area. You can lure
the thug around the corner onto the mists as well, making him an easy kill.
Once you are done, head around the corner, past the well, and on towards the
next checkpoint. Kill the next civilian, and enter the tavern.

Four civilians are in the tavern, ready to be slain. Kill them off and head
across the room to the stairs on the right side, where your contact awaits.
After he gets done talking to you, the wretch calls the Sarafan, who bar you
from leaving the Tavern. Kill your contact, and then proceed up the stairs
and into the next room, where a tug awaits. Kill him, and then move the
bookcase on the right hand wall to expose a room. Head in and deal with the
guard and civilian there. After you are done with those two, head down the
stairs and through the next door.

Turn right as you go out of the door and head down the alley. A couple of
thugs stand next to a box to your right as you head into the next area. Kill
them off, then push the box next to the fence, so that you can use it to jump
over. Trigger the checkpoint and grab the Lore Chest, then follow the path to
the right through a hole in the next fence.

Around the next corner to the right is a thug for you to kill. Your level
will increase if you have killed everything and grabbed every lore chest up
to this point. Keep on the path as it turns to the left, goes up some stairs,
and then turns right. A cinema ensues as you pass under the next doorway, and
you will see mist on the ground.

To your right is a guard. Assume mist form and stealth kill him, then grab
his long sword. Head to the end of the path and around the corner to the
left, where you will see a fire and another guard. Lure the second guard back
to the mist and kill him. Head back to the fire and go halfway down the
alley, where you will find a ladder going up the side of a small building. Go
up the ladder, or jump up to the top using the crate on the right front of
the building, then turn around and head up the wooden board leading the other
way. Head across the catwalk and find a dead body for you to feed on. After
feeding, head through the hole in the wall and activate the lift.

Head down the passage in front of you as it twists to the left. Go through
the door and watch the cinema scene. After the cinema, head up the set of
stairs to your left and trigger the checkpoint at the end of the walkway
before it turns to the right. Another set of busted pipes is here, so you
must once again use the wheel to shut it off. After doing so, kill the two
civilians here, and head across the catwalk to the right. It leads to an area
with a set of stairs on the far side and a doorway to your right-rear. Ignore
the doorway. There are a series of ramps there that lead to absolutely
nothing, apart from another dead-end. Head up the stairs, where there is
another cinema.

The retarded guard has closed the gate, expecting that to keep you out. His
folly. Head straight across through the next doorway and trigger the switch
to reopen the gate. If you step back out of the room, the guard will close
the gate again, unless you first assume Mist Form. Do so and make your way
through the gate. Kill the guard in the next area, then take your revenge on
the gatekeeper for being a peon. Across the room from the gate is a door that
is blocked by another gate. Hitting the switch to open it will only cause the
civilians inside to hit another switch to close it again. Turn left from the
switch, and go around the corner to the right, where you will find three
levers. Hit all three of them and then move back to the door. To the right of
the opening switch is a wheel. Spin it to flood the guards' room with steam,
killing them and letting you open the door unhindered.

Go through the door and get your blood and lore from the guards. Head to the
right through the door and hit the lever on the far wall to open the next
door. Mists on the ground will help you make an easy kill out of the guard.
There is a ladder in the area that leads to a great deal of nothing, so
ignore it. Instead, head through the large doorway and to the left through
the next door, which leads to a ramp going downward. Follow the ramp around
the corner to the left, and you will find another switch. Hit it to open the
door to the left. Go through it and it will close behind you.

The door to the left leads to the dead-end that the ladder took you to, so
don't bother with it. There is a tunnel through the ground here, but steam is
blocking it. Head up the ladder to your right and turn around. In front of
you now is a door blocked by steam. To your right in the center of the steam
generator is a switch. Hit the switch. Doing so turns the steam off of the
door, and onto a ladder in the adjacent room. Go through the door that the
steam was blocking and kill the guard. The doorway opposite the ladder leads
nowhere. Hit the switch next to the door to the far right of the door you
used to come in. It will open the door for a short time. Head through and
quickly hit the steam switch and run back through the door while it is still
open. If the door closes, just redo the puzzle. Climb up the ladder and hit
the switch there.

Hitting the switch turns off the steam that blocked the tunnel on the lower
level, and the doors leading there, so head back down and jump into it. On
floor of the next room there is nothing, nor is there anything on the far
platform from the checkpoint. Go to the checkpoint and activate it, then head
straight down the hall, where you will enter another cinema sequence, and
after the cinema, your first boss fight.

BOSS FIGHT: FAUSTUS
Stage 1: A straight fight. Block his attacks and dodge his red attacks, and
hit him with Fury whenever your Rage meter is full enough. Three hits from
Fury will start stage two.

Stage 2: He heads up a tunnel and to the next room. Go through the open door
and follow the path into the next room. The next room looks like something
out of a Hellraiser movie, with hooked chains dangling from the ceiling and
four furnaces; one on each wall. Mists adorn the ground. Faustus is on top of
one of the furnaces, lobbing grenade-like things at Kain. You are supposed to
use the Mists to sneak around so that he cannot see you approach the furnace,
then hit the switch to activate it and fry him. An easier way is to just run
to the furnace he is on and try to guess where he is going next, and go there
to hit the switch. If you are wrong in your guess, just try again. Since the
mist doesn't cover the entire floor, if you do try to sneak, you could be at it
for a while, since you must give up your mist form when you leave the mists,
and if he sees you, he jumps to a new furnace. Whichever way you decide to
fry Faustus, three times will start stage 3.

Stage 3: Faustus jumps onto the chains and waits to sneak attack Kain. You
will be alerted to his oncoming attack by a whooshing noise just before he
strikes. Sidestep his kick, which cannot be blocked, to stun him, then move
to him and hit him with a three-hit combo. Four such combos ends the fight.

Head through the open door after gaining the ability "Jump". Use the Dark
Gift to jump from the broken platform to your right to the other side. From
the other platform, go to the left and into the tunnel to end the chapter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 3: The Lower City "In Darkness We Gather"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Watch the cinema between Umah and Kain. After it is complete, you will be
next to the Municipal Bank. There is a guard that roams the area, so kill him
off. Face the Municipal Bank. To the left are some stairs leading to a Lore
Chest and a couple of civilians. Kill them, then head back out to the main
area.

With your back towards the bank, there is a merchant and a civilian arguing
over prices to your left, and another guard nearby. Scare the civilians, and
one of them will run to a door at the Auberge Du Roitre (French for "Inn of
Roitre") and unlock it for you. Inside is a Lore Chest. After you grab the
Chest, kill all the civilians. A glyph energy barrier blocks your progress by
ground, so the only option left now is travel by air.

Move back to the Municipal Bank and climb the left stairs, then go up the
stairs to the right. Go around the corner and you will be able to see a
checkpoint way off in the distance. Use your gift Jump to reach it. Trigger
the checkpoint, then jump down below, where you will be able to make out some
mists. Switch to Mist Form to stealth kill the two thugs in the area. Another
thug might come running around the corner, so be ready for him as well.

After you kill the thugs, head between the two buildings with the mist in
front. The next area will contain a thug if he didn't come running to help
his doomed friends earlier. Head down the ramp on the far right of the area.
You are now past the energy barrier. Head up the stairs to your left and kill
the civilians there. Turn right and head to the gate, where a cinema will
show a guy that demands the password to pass through. You'll get him later.

Head back down the stairs and straight to where two more civilians are
chatting away. A guard roams the area as well. Kill the guard, then the
civilians. Another glyph barrier blocks your way to the left. To the right
is the "Red Raven" tavern. Move to the door and go through.

Three civilians are inside the tavern to feed on. After killing them, move to
the bar and get the password to the gate. Time to pay him another, less
pleasant, visit. Head back to the gate and let him open it, then kill him
for being insolent. The door in front of you doesn't open, so head around the
corner to your right. A pair of thugs wait around the next corner. Kill them
and then continue around the corner to your right. The stairs to your left
going up lead to another set of stairs going down and three doors that won't
open. To the right are stairs leading down. Head down the stairs into the
main area.

There are three guards in this area, one at each gate. There is a civilian
pleading with one of the guards to let her through, but he is adamant in his
duties. Another civilian stands near the building in the middle of the area.
There is a Lore Chest on top of this building, which you can reach with the
stairs on its side, which, incidentally, are the stairs that lead to the
doors that won't open. Head to the left, where there is a guard stationed at
an energy barrier. Kill him. After doing away with him, move to the guard at
the iron gate and kill him. Finally, deal with the guard by the Southgate
Tram Station. If you do this right, you shouldn't alert any other guard while
you deal with any one of them. After the guards are dead, kill the civilians
and grab the Lore Chest.

From the roof of the building where you grab the Lore Chest, "Jump" to the
building to the right, where you can see a glyph energy source. Hit the
switch and follow the piping to the next switch. Hit it to open the double
doors. Through the doors waits a cinema scene. Head through the door in front
of you and into the room on the right, where there is a Lore Chest. Head back
out into the main room. To the right is a broken glyph conduit (for want of a
better term). You need to pull it out so you can put a working one in place.
Move to the conduit and pull it out from the wall. Move back into the room
with the double doors and grab the conduit from the wall there, and push it
into the space where the other one was. Once it is in place, turn around and
head into the room to the right, where you will see two energy generators,
each one sending energy a different way. There is a switch on the right wall
as you enter the room. Hit it to send energy to the door in the main room.

Head into the main room and wait for the energy to reach the door. Hit the
switch and go through, activating the next checkpoint. Jump through the
broken window to your left and go straight up the stairs in front of you to
the next door. They alley leading off to the left goes nowhere and does
nothing (henceforth known as GNDN).

As you reach the top of the stairs, a guard will tell you that you need the
password to enter. Turn left and head down the alley. Follow it to the end
where it goes down some stairs. There are a pair of thugs standing guard in
this area. Make short work of them and head up the next set of stairs leading
up. The stairs lead under a catwalk. Off to the left, a guard patrols. Kill
him and then head up the road to the right, where there are two civilians to
kill. Continuing down the path will trigger a cinema scene at the newsstand
across from the "Ducket's Traders" sign.

Kill the guard roaming the area, then head back to that idiot that want the
password. Give it to him then kill him for your troubles. Head up the stairs
and through the next door. In the next room, three prisoners await the death
sentence. Give it to them, grab the sword on the ground, and head up the
ladder. The alley on the other side of the ladder leads to where you just
came from, so don't jump back down there. Instead, "jump" across to the next
checkpoint, which you can see in the distance.

Activate the checkpoint and grab the Lore Chest, then move to the small metal
platform with the broken rails, which is to the right of the Lore Chest as
you look at it and the door behind it. From there, "jump" across to the next
building, which is in front of you and slightly to the right. There is mist
on the roof, so switch to Mist Form and kill the two thugs. After you deal
with them, head down the alley to the right, which drops off onto another
building.

Jump to the ground and kill the two thugs down there. Hit the glyph energy
switch on the wall of the building on the left side of the gate, and then
head back up to the top of the building you were just on using the ladder
that is reachable on top of a little building near the pile of crates. From
the top of that building, you can "jump" to where you see the glyph energy
pipes leading to a switch and another door. Hit the switch to proceed.

There is a thug standing guard in the building, and the doors close behind
you. Kill the thug, and then head to the left from the double doors and go
through the next doorway. Kill the civilian and proceed through the next
door. The fence to your right prevents you from going that way, so head down
the stairs to your left. At the bottom take a left and you will overhear a
couple of civilians griping about having to work. Free them from their work
detail.

The floor where the two were standing is weakened. Above you dangles a
presumably heavy crate. You must drop the crate onto the weakened floor to
continue. You'd think that with this many crates thrown haphazardly around
the room that you would find at least one Lore or Weapon Chest, but no, there
aren't any here. *sigh* Head directly across the room from where your last
meal was standing and through the doorway there. Turn to the right and head
up the stairs. A thug waits at the top of the stairs. Kill him. After feeding
activate the switch on the right side of the room (as you look from the area
next to the stairs).

Go back down below and jump through the hole. As you proceed toward the next
checkpoint, you will pass a Lore Chest on your left. Make sure you grab it.
Hit the checkpoint and proceed around the corner to the left. This hallway
contains another weakened floor, but a cement barrier prevents anything from
falling onto it. Just keep going on for now. In the next area, the door to
the Sewer Access to your left is locked, so head to the right and up the
stairs. At the top of the stairs is an area containing two more thugs. Deal
with them accordingly, and then head straight across the room from where you
came in (there is a locked door there), and head up the stairs that lie
through the doorway to the right.

Hit the lever next to the crate to open the gate, then push the crate all the
way across the cement platform onto the lift. Jump over the crate and turn
right, stepping off the ledge. To your immediate right is a switch. Hit it to
raise the lift to the third level. Move to the side of the cement platform,
and push it out of the way. Head back into the room that had the crate in it
and climb the ladder. Turn around and go through the doorway, then turn right
and follow the platform around to the left. Kill the thug, then go straight
towards the wall and turn left, where there is a hall leading around the
corner. Kill the thug around said corner, and then push the crate off of the
platform, breaking through the floor below. Follow the crate.

Going right, away from the checkpoint, leads nowhere. Turn left and trigger
the checkpoint and proceed down the corridor, jumping over the beam that
blocks your way. A guard comes running when you do. Kill her and then head
through the passage she came from, which brings another guard running. Kill
her as well. At the top of the stairs to your right is a Lore Chest. Grab it
and then head back down the stairs and to the right, where there is a short
sword laying on the ground if you need a weapon. Head around the corner to
the right and to the next puzzle.

You need to reach a ladder, but it is out of jumping range. On the ground
under the ladder is a piece of wood, which was formerly a crate, I believe.
Turn the wheel to your left as you enter the room to fill the pit with water,
then "jump" to the crate lid and climb up the ladder. Head down the alley
into the next area. Lure the two talking guards to your side of the glyph
barrier and kill them. Turn around and head down the street and encounter a
thug on your left. Give him the same treatment you gave the guards. After
killing him, head down the street to the right, past a pair of chattering
civilians (leave the civilians alone) and toward another pair of guards. Kill
them. The stairs nearby don't lead anywhere. Hit the glyph energy switch and
head back down the road toward the two talking civilians. Leave them alone
for now.

Before heading through the glyph opened gate, try heading into the Weapons
Shop in the area. If the door doesn't open, frighten the two civilians and
herd them towards the it. One of them should open it. It is directly across
from the wagon sitting next to the bank. There is a civilian inside and a
Weapon Chest. There is a Lore Chest inside the building across from the
theater (where the two people were chatting earlier). The building has
"NPOEKT" written on the glass. Kill the illiterate civilian inside and grab
the Lore Chest. Once done there, head through the gate which was opened by
the glyph energy. The gate closes behind you. So does the gate at the end of
the passage.

There is nothing in the green room to your front. Head to the right and
around the corner to the left, where a pair of thugs wait. Going right (away
from the thugs) leads to a dead-end. Kill the thugs and proceed over the
fallen beam and to the right. You will pass a doorway to your left as you go,
but ignore it for now. Head through the next door, and go up the ladder to
your immediate right. Feed on all the dead bodies at the top of the ladder,
then jump to the top of the smaller building, where a thug waits. Kill him,
then push the crate off to the floor below (there is only one way you can
push the crate off the building). Head back down the ladder, or just follow
crate. Be careful not to fall in the water, though.

Move across the platform to the switch on the right. Hit it to open the metal
door, then push the crate under it. Turn around and head back through the
door on the left and through the doorway to the right (into the room you
ignored earlier). There is a wheel on the wall that will temporarily drain
the water from the adjacent room. Turn the wheel and then quickly move out of
the room, turn left, jump over the railing and land on the platform. Turn
right and run up the stairs under the opened gate. Head under the archway and
up the stairs, where there is a checkpoint waiting.

Hit the switch to open the gate and encounter a pair of thugs beating some
civilians. Kill everything you see and feed on all of the dead bodies. Once
you are done, head back to the gate you came through. All of the paths in
this area lead to nothing, except for the alley in front of the entrance
gate. Head down it and around the corner to the left, where there is another
gate and switch. Hit the switch to open the gate, of course. Head through.
A cinema will start once you do, showing Kain's first encounter with a
Sarafan.

The Sarafan calls a couple of guards to deal with Kain. Kill the guards, then
head either way around the central building. Follow the alley all the way
back, where you will find a small shack that you can jump onto. Use it to get
to the top of one of the taller buildings. From there you can "jump" to the
top of the central building, and then to the Lore Chest. From there, drop
down to the side where there is a guard waiting. He sounds an alarm, and you
must fight a series of guards. Kill them all, then use the wheel on the wall
to open the next gate.

Kill the civilian standing at the stand, then head down the road to the left.
Another civilian is standing there. Kill her and the guard on the other side
of the barrier will run to try and help. Kill him, too. Head over to the
barrier and then turn around. Go straight and to the left, and you will find
an alley with mists toward the end of it. Head down the alley and assume a
mist form to kill the thug standing guard. Use the wheel to open the next
gate. As you head through, the gate closes and a cinema starts.

Feed on the bodies, and then follow the path the vampire took. He is waiting
at the top of the ramp, but runs off once you get close. Keep following him
and killing everything that gets in your way. There are no secrets to find.
Once you "jump" to the far building, another cinema starts. After the cinema,
go around the corner to the right and drop off the building. Around the next
corner is a checkpoint. Kill the civilian, then head down the stairs. To the
right is an energy barrier. Head to the left, all the way to the end of the
road, where a pair of thugs wait.

Well, it looks like you're trapped. All the passageways have barriers over
them, and all the doors are locked. Move to the right of the church, where
there is a Lore Chest blocked by a barrier. Jump onto the crates and over the
archway. Open the Chest then head down the stairs.

In the next room, there is a catwalk that can be operated by a lever to the
left as you enter the room. Across the catwalk, there is a wheel that will
drain and add water to the room. Move across the platform and turn around.
Off to the left is a crate. Move to it. Jump over the crate and push it
into the pit. Jump down into the pit and position the crate under the
catwalk. Jump onto the catwalk, then turn and hit the switch to retract the
catwalk. With the catwalk out of the way, move to the other side of the pit
and turn the wheel, flooding the pit with water, and making the crate float
to the top. "Jump" across the pit and trigger the catwalk again, which will
extend under the crate. "Jump" back across and drain the water again, leaving
the crate on top of the catwalk. With the water out of the way, push the
crate onto the big, wooden switch on the floor to open the gate in front of
you.

Head through the corridor to the glyph switch, and hit it. Doing so turns off
the barriers blocking the catwalk room and the Blue Lady pub. Head back
through the catwalk room and up the stairs to the main area. Turn left and
move to the awning with the Blue Lady on it. Head up the ramp and turn to the
left, grabbing the Lore Chest there (worth five lore points). After you grab
the Chest, head into the Blue Lady.

Turn left as you enter the door and head through the next doorway, and down
the ramp to the left. A cinema ensues about halfway, and so Kain meets the
Cabal, and Vorador. The end of the cinema will layout the next mission. And
so, chapter 3 ends...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 4: The Upper City "A Question of Faith"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kain's mission is to find the bishop and get some information from him. From
the start point, head straight to the checkpoint in front of you, and kill
the two or three civilians in the room. Head straight up the ramp from the
checkpoint into the next room. Head between the columns and into the
courtyard, where there are two guards off to the left, and a mist covered
alley to the right. For now, go to the right and kill the thug, then head
back and lead the guards into the mists. Once you have fed, head to the end
of the mist covered alley, around the corner to the left, and down the
stairs.

A cutscene awaits at the bottom of the stairs. After the cinema, deal with
Marcus' lackeys and then head through the gate, using the wheel to open it.
The gate closes behind you, and you can feed on the two dead guards on the
other side. After feeding, head down the passage around the corner to the
right and through the door.

A cinema plays as you go through the door in this puzzle room. Marcus summons
more of those inferior lackeys. Head down the stairs to the right, past the
checkpoint, and kill Marcus' pets. From the platform where the first two
victims were encountered, head across the catwalk into the next room, where
there is another guard. Kill him, then turn the wheel to rotate the bridge to
your side of the room. Head across the bridge and turn the wheel to rotate
the bridge back to the other side of the room. Head down the stairs to the
right and grab a Lore Chest. Head back up the stairs and go up the rampway.

As the corridor turns to the left, you will hear a couple of people talking
around the corner, and you will see mist on the ground. Take a wild guess.
Once you are finished with the thugs, head to the end of the passage and go
through the door, then climb up the ladder on the right wall. A cinema
starts. After the cinema, head left to the wheel and turn it to open the gate
to the next area. Proceed through.

Activate the checkpoint and the gate closes, and a cinema begins. After
Vorador has finished babbling, head to the left and kill the civilian, then
double back and go kill the two guards and the civilian that are standing in
the mist. Go down to the end of the road around the corner to the left. Lure
another guard back to the mist, then head back to the gate he was at and kill
the civilian there. Use the far lever on the left doorway to open the door,
and head through. The door will close behind you. Activate the checkpoint and
deal with the two thieves guarding the area. There is a small patch of mist
on the ground to the right, which will mkae the fight much more simple.

Proceed to the end of the alley, where you will find a broken ladder. Grab
the crate to the right and pull it so that you can use it to reach said
ladder. Climb up the ladder to find another ladder. Climb up that ladder to
find a thief looking through a glass sunroof. Kill the thief and then jump
through the opening in the sunroof to the floor below.

A thief on the inside kills a civilian for you, then you kill her. Grab the
Lore Chest by the fireplace, then use the wheel by the dead civilian to open
the glass double doors. Proceed through. Move to the right, where the
concrete barrier is broken, allowing you to "jump" to the far room. Kill the
civilian and the two guards, then switch out your old weapon for one of their
nice, new long swords. Once you have a new weapon, charge it in the Weapon
Chest that is next to the bookshelf on the right side wall. Head down the
stairs leading around the fireplace, through the door, and down more stairs.

Open the next gate with the wheel, and activate the checkpoint. There are
some civilians and a Sarafan Knight in this area. Don't bother with the mist
he is on. Kill the Sarafan Knight, then the civilians in the area. If you
draw the attention of the two regular knights standing guard by the door
ahead, use the mists to elude and kill them. Once you are done, finish the
two knights (if you haven't already) and head through the door they were
blocking.

Head through the door in the next room and trigger the glyph energy on the
right wall. Turn around and use the wheel to open the gate and head back into
the main area. Turn to the right, assume a mist form, and hit the glyph
powered switch to open the next gate. If you don't use Mist Form, the guard
just close the gate as soon as you start to open it. Kill the guard and head
through the next gate. Head down the stairs and trigger the checkpoint. The
water running on the left wall prevents you from being able to "jump" there,
and another doorway nearby has water running over it. You need to get through
that doorway, but the control for it is on the upper level. Use the wheel on
the left wall to turn the water off so you can "jump" to that side of the
room. Turn around and head to the stairs on the far side of the room. A
Sarafan Knight stands nearby. Kill him and proceed up the stairs, where
another Sarafan Knight stands. Kill him, then "jump" across to where the
ater was previously flowing.

Turn to the right and go kill the standard knight standing in the mist. Use
the wheel to turn the water that was flowing over the one doorway off. Jump
down and head through the doorway, then open the next gate. As you open it,
the far gate closes. No puzzle here. As you proceed down the corridor, three
thugs show up to fight. There are no mists here to aid you, so kill them off,
grab the Lore Chest sitting next to the gate, and proceed through. Head up
the stairs and through the next door. Trigger the checkpoint and head through
the doorway into the next area.

Use the switch to open the gate you must use, and another gate closes in the
distance. In this area there are four square areas, the two on the left have
statues, as does the far one to the right. The near right side square has a
crate dangling above it. There is water in the two far squares. The wheels on
each side of the room drain the water from one side of the wheel to the other
side. Kill the Sarafan Knight guarding the area, then use the left hand
wheel to drain the water from the area with the glyph power switch. Trigger
the switch, which will power the switch in the square adjacent to the crate.
Move to the right hand wheel, and use it to drain the water into the area
with the crate, allowing you to reach the glyph energy switch. Trigger it and
the crate will fall. Drain the water back out of the crate area and position
it so that it blocks the gate. Move back out of the gate and hit the switch
to open the next gate. Proceed through and open the door.

Through the door is a checkpoint and another cutscene. Vorador tells you what
you must do. Head into the mist to the right to kill the two civilians. Kill
the Sarafan Knights and the other roaming civilian, then head through the
door with the plant on the left side. On the other side of the door, you will
find a crate. If you look up, there is a sandbag used to lift the bell that
is directly over the crate. Move the crate out of the way, then head up the
stairs. Move past the first switch around the corner to the right and use the
wheel there to raise the bell into position. Move back to the switch you
passed and hit it to ring the bell. Move back outside.

The gates are open now, so head through them. A Sarafan Knight and two
civilians are in the area, so kill them off and head through the next gate,
over the bridge, around the corner to the right, and use the lift. From the
lift, "jump" to the far room and kill the civilian there. Grab the Lore Chest
in the next room and then head down the stairs, where a Sarafan Knight stands
guard. Head through the next door, down the stairs, and trigger the
checkpoint. Kill the Sarafan Knight guarding the area, head down the
next set of stairs and kill the two civilians. The far left doorway leads to
a glyph energy conduit that has been broken. A cage lies over the one you
need to reach. Take either ladder to the level above the glyph energy system.
Use the wheel to raise the cage on one side and lower it on the other side.
This will expose the conduit you need, but cover the area where it needs to
go. Move the conduit out of the way of the cage, then trigger the cages
again. This will allow Kain to place the conduit in its proper position,
powering the switch to open the next gate.

Head to the gate and move through. Two civilians and two Sarafan Knights are
in the next area. Kill them, then head through the open gate and through the
door. A Sarafan comes running down the stairs to meet his fate. Head up the
stairs he ran down and follow the hall to the next door. Go through and turn
right, heading down the stairs, where you will have a cutscene. Trigger the
checkpoint. There are three guards off to your right, but you can hide from
them in the mist and use it to kill them silently. Grab the Lore Chest in the
area, then head up the stairs nearby.

From the top of the stairs, turn around and head down the left side walkway.
In a little draw to the left is a civilian to kill. Continue along the path
and jump up to the ladder. "Jump" to the room to the left and head through
the door. On the other side a Knight kills a civilian as you trigger the next
checkpoint. Kill him and head down the hallway, passing another dead body to
feed upon. To the right of the mists are double doors you can open. Do so and
proceed through. A guard stands on the other side. Use the mists to kill him
quickly. On the floor below are more guards. Lure them to the mist.

Head down the stairs, turn left, and head through the door that is in front
of you. Go around the table and through the next door. In the next room, you
are pitted against a Glyph Guard. Kill him and a bookshelf will slide away
and another cutscene with play. Grab the Glyph Guard's weapon, kill the
civilian, and head down the stairs behind the bookshelf. A cinema is at the
end of the stairs.

Trigger the checkpoint in front of you, then kill the Sarafan up ahead. Doing
so will cause another Sarafan to come running to his aid, opening the gate
for you to pass through. Go through the gate and down the stairs, where
another brainwashed cleric waits. Kill him, then grab the block that is
barring the hole. Move it out of the way and go through said hole. There are
three clerics in the next area, and mists to help you kill them. From the
hole in the wall, move to the central building and turn left. Go straight and
turn left past the wall. In the next area, another cleric ot two wait in the
mist.

After you have killed the clerics, head straight forward past the mist and
look to the left. You will pass a Lore Chest hidden in a little alcove. Grab
it, then turn around and head through the open gate and down the stairs. Move
to the three grey panels and push them in to open the gate, and head through.
Follow the corridor around and through the next doorway, where two more
clerics wait. After killing them, head down the small set of stairs and go
through the door. The passage turns right and passes a checkpoint. Follow the
hallway around the corner and a cutscene ensues.

After the cinema, follow Marcus as he runs down the corridor and onto the
streets. Use the wheel to open the gate and chase after him, killing anything
that gets in your way, namely four civilians. Move to the gate Marcus passed
through and use the switch to open it, and head up the ladder. At the top of
the ladder is another ladder. Climb it to the top, where you need to turn
left and head across the fallen gates over the roof of the house to where
Marcus is standing. He jumps off as you approach, crossing over to the next
building. Follow suit, passing a checkpoint.

Head up the stairs and then turn left and go up the stairs onto the roof of
the church. A cutscene shows Kain leaping at Marcus, which breaks the stained
glass, dropping them into the church where the next boss fight takes place.

BOSS FIGHT: MARCUS
Stage 1: Marcus tries to fight cheap by turning invisible and sneaking up on
you, yet beating him is easy. See the two switches? They control the bell.
Hit them alternatively and Marcus will get a headache, thereby revealing him
for you to run and slice. After about 5 combos, the next stage will start.

Stage 2: Some of Marcus' cleric slaves show up and break the bell. Head past
the altar through the open gate and up the stairs to the next level. Run to
one of the guards and grab him, then throw him into the bell. This will find
Marcus for you, after which you can just stay on his heels and smack him
around. If you lose track of him, lure a guard back to the top level and
throw him into the bell again. The fight ends when Marcus is dead.

Get the ability to Charm civilians from Marcus, watch the cutscene, and the
end of chapter 4.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 5: The Sarafan Keep "House of My Enemy"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A cutscene starts the chapter, and a Glyph Guard roams nearby. Trigger the
checkpoinit and take a moment to get your bearings if you wish. On the far
side of the statue in front of you is a Knight. Kill him using the nearby
mist for cover. Grab his sword and head for the building off to the left. You
must Charm the innocent person inside and make him open the door for you,
then kill him. Proceed through the next door.

Head straight down the hall past the next checkpoint and use the mists to
slay the roving guard. The first intersection leads to a dead-end on both
sides. The second left is a doorway that leads to a civilian and a Weapon
Chest. Use the Chest and then head back out into the hallway, activating the
switch to turn off the steam blocking the doorway to the far right in front
of the checkpoint. Go through the door and head down the stairs.

The next area has a single guard, so kill him before you start on the puzzle
in this room. On the left hand side of the upper platform is a switch that
activates a nearby furnace. There is a glyph conduit on the ground on the
lower level, and a barrel of explosives next to the door off to the left.
Triggering the furnace now won't do anything. It doesn't have fuel. Head to
the bottom level to the right side of the conveyor belt and hit the switch
to operate a crane, placing fuel into the furnace. Move the conduit so that
it is on the left side of the furnace, then activate the furnace and watch
the fireworks. Proceed through the doorway.

Follow the corridor around the corner to the right, and make a right turn at
the next corner, heading down the passageway. As you proceed, a thief runs
after a civilian, then decided to attack you. Kill her and the civilian, then
proceed to the end of the corridor and up the stairs to the right, where you
will find a Lore Chest. Open it then head back down the stairs to the door in
front of you. Use the lever to open it and head through.

On the other side of the door, a knight kills a thief. Kill the knight and
activate the checkpoint. Follow the mist walkway to the left and around the
corner, where another knight kills another thief. Kill the knight, then
activate the glyph energy switch. Follow the pipes to the next door you must
open once the energy has turned the switch on. Head through the door.

Mists are on the ground in front of you, as is a checkpoint. Trigger the
checkpoint, then assume a mist form to help you with the two knights and
civilian in the next corridor. In the left room as you go down the hall,
there is a Lore Chest. Grab it and head straight out of the room, past the
left turn (which is GNDN), down the hall and up the stairs.

In the next room, a civilian sits on a high platform, out of reach. To the
left, a Knight and a civilian are sitting in the mists running around the
pool of water in the room. A Sarafan Knight patrols the far side of the room.
Kill them, then move to each of the high platform with the civilian on it and
charm him, to make him turn the water off. After that, move around the room
to the platform with the ladder and climb up to turn the next wheel. From
there, turn to the right and "jump" across to the last wheel. Move into the
pit and enter the tunnel directly underneath the platform with the civilian
on it.

Follow the tunnel to the next room, where a Sarafan Knight stands guard on
the stairs nearby. Kill him and climb the stairs to the next door. Mists lie
on the ground on the other side, but they do you no good in the next area.
Head straight down the hall past the checkpoint and kill the Sarafan Knight.
After you kill him, proceed through the door he was guarding.

In the next room, a Knight wanders off to your left and another Knight
patrols the top floor of the far side of the room. Kill them, and then
explore the entire room. There are a couple of prisoners on the ground level,
and a Lore Chest on the second level of the far side of the room from where
you entered. After collecting everything, proceed with the puzzle solving.
Head down the platform to the left, and turn right at the end. You will see a
ladder. Climb it and hit the switch to move the barrier to the other side of
the room. Head off the platform to the other side of the room, then head into
the room that was formerly blocked by the glyph barrier. Hit the switch
inside to open the door on the other side of the room. Climb back up to the
barrier switch, and hit it again, then go through the door.

The next room has nothing in it, so just move to the lift and activate it.
On the next level, a checkpoint and a civilian lie in front of you. Activate
the checkpoint and kill the civilian. To the right of the checkpoint, you can
see a Weapon Chest just beyond a couple of tables. DO NOT charge your weapon.
There isn't anything else in this room, so head down the hallway from the
checkpoint and go through the next door to the left. Hit the switch to unlock
the room at the end of the hall. Head through it.

A cinema shows the switch to the glyph barrier, and a Glyph Guard wanders
nearby. Kill the Glyph Guard and grab his weapon, then head back to the
Weapon Box in the last room to empower it. In the adjacent room, another
Glyph Guard is talking to a civilian. Kill him then charm the civilian. Face
the room overlook, and head to the left along the platform. Turn left into
the next doorway, and then take another left toward the glyph energy switch.
Turn it off, then return to controlling Kain.

Head back into the main room, and go down the stairs that were once barred by
the barrier. Another cutscene shows a mural of Kain being defeated by the
Sarafan Lord. A Glyph Guard stands nearby. Lure him toward his buddy to the
right and into the mists, where you can kill them both. Head back up the
stairs past all of the water, activate the checkpoint as you go by, and kill
the civilian wandering on the ground in front of the mural. Head up the
stairs directly across from where you entered this room and to the gate on
the right to trigger another cutscene.

Head back into the main room and lure the civilian and his guard into the
mists with the rest of the dead bodies, and kill them. Return to the gate so
the servant can open the glyph barrier for you. Head down the corridor and
around the corner to the right. Kill the Glyph Guard and the two civilians,
then continue around the the room to the dead-end, where there is a lift to
the right. Go in and hit the switch to move up to the next level.

At the top, turn right and head down the hall, where you encounter a Glyph
Guard. Give him the proper treatment, and then head into the room on the
right, where there is a civilian to kill. Head out of the room and to the
right, then "jump" across to the other platform. Follow the platform to the
left around the corner to the right, then climb the stairs and "jump" to the
other side. Follow the patht o the left again, and around the corner where
you will find a Glyph Guard and a civilian. Kill them, then head into the
next room and follow the walkway around to the door with the switch next to
it. Proceed through.

The door raises behind you, and a checkpoint lies around the corner. Trigger
it and head into the next room, whereupon a cutscene starts. Below is a pair
of Glyph Guards, with more on the other side of the lower door, which is
blocked by a glyph barrier. The door on the upper level opposite you is also
barricaded. A civilian roams the area to your right. Kill the civilian and
head down below to do some Glyph Guard killing.

Kill the Glyph Guard, then hit the switch. An alarm will sound and Kain will
be struck by the appearance of a new barrier. Guards come running through.
Kill them. Once the Guards are dead, turn around from the barred door and
head to the right side of the room, where there is a ladder. Climb up it and
go through the door that used to be blocked.

A Glyph Guard and a civilian are in the next area. Kill them then head up the
lift the Guard was blocking. In the next area, kill the civilian that starts
trying to tell you about where you are not allowed. Head up the spiral
staircase and hit the switch. Jump back down to the bottom level and go
through the opened gate, assuming a mist form as you do. Down the hall is a
Knight. Sneak up on and kill him, then lure the Glyph Guard in the next room
to the mist for killing. Kill the civilian, then proceed up the stairs,
around the walkway, and to the next switch, which opens a large gate below.
Head through the gate and to the end of the hall, where a gate bars further
passage. Charm the human on the other side to make him open the gate for you
using the far switch.

Head into the room and kill the civilian now that he has served his purpose.
Head to the top of the stairs, where there is a Lore Chest. Grab it and
return to the bottom level. There is another Lore Chest in this area. With
your back to the gate you entered from head through the doorway to the left.
Follow the path around the turn to the right past a door to the left. Keep
going until you find a couple of crates, which you can jump over to reach the
Chest.

After getting the Lore Chest under the stairs, double back and head through
the door, which is now on your right. Trigger the checkpoint and kill the
Knight in the hallway. Hit the switch on the left side of the hallway from
the checkpoint to open the next gate you must cross. The next area has two
standard Knights and a Glyph Knight. After you kill them, move to the door
blocked by the glyph barrier. Head around to the left side of the building
and you will find a switch. Hit it to turn the barrier off, and head inside
the door after hitting the switch next to it.

A cinema starts as you find Umah. You must find a way to shut off the barrier
blocking her cell. This is the switch you hit earlier. But if you trigger it
to free her, you cannot get back inside the room with her. As you enter the
room, there is a statue to your right. Grab it and pull it out to open a
hidden door in the side of the building. Go out either door and around to the
switch, then head back in through the door in the wall.

A cinema ensues, and chapter 5 comes to an end.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 6: The Industrial Quarter "The Nexus Stone"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the cinema, you start in a room with two civilians. Kill them, then
head down the hallway to the left of the door you entered. It opens into a
room with a pair of steam pumps, and a sword lays on the ground to the right
of them. Grab it and kill the civilians. Head into the next room where you
will find a glyph energy control. Turn the wheel to adjust the direction of
the energy, then hit the switch and head back into the start room, where the
glyph energy will power a door for you to open. After you open the door,
head back into the room with the switch and move the energy path so that
it travels up through the ceiling.

Head back into the start room again and go through the door and up the
stairs. Take the doorway to the left and follow the passage as it leads to
another dooway, also to the left. There is a civilian and a Glyph Guard in
the room. Kill them and grab the Lore Chest that is on the far side of the
room from where you entered. Once you have done that, head to the gate that
is now powered with glyph energy and open it. Head through it and up another
set of stairs and doorway to the left.

Head across the room with the steam machine through the next door. A gate
will close behind you and a checkpoint lies to your left. Head through the
door next to the checkpoint and kill the two civilians. Open the gate and
kill the Warrior Knight that guards the area there. Hit the switch on the
right hand wall in the area the Warrior was in, and go up the ladder.

Once up the ladder, turn around and grab the Lore Chest, then proceed through
the door. The hall to the left leads nowhere. Head right, past the
checkpoint, and then watch the cinema. After the cinema, you are placed
directly behind another Warrior Knight. Sneak up on her and draw your weapon.
If you time a grab right, you can grab her before she gets a chance to do
anything. Her friend will come running. Kill her as well.

Head to the end of the platform, where you see a glyph switch that needs
power. Look at the pipes and follow them to the energy souce and turn it on.
There is another Warrior Knight down there, but if you float down behind her,
you can sneak up and grab her before she can attack. Kill her and the
civilians roaming the area, then hit the switch.

There are a couple of things you might want to grab before leaving here: a
new weapon and a Lore Chest. With your back to the energy power switch, head
straight forward until you reach the two crates, then turn left. In the
distance, there is a machine on a platform with a ladder leading up to it.
Climb the ladder and move to the opposite side of the machine, where there is
a double-bladed sword on the ground (although at the moment it looks like
nothing more than a dog bone). Grab it if you need a weapon.

Get on top of the machine and face the large stack of crates. "Jump" across
to the top of the crates and turn right, where you should see a Lore Chest.
"Jump" across to it, then climb up the stairway looking stack of crates. From
the top of this stack you can "jump" to the platform where this part of the
level started, and thus reach the switch that you have given power to. Hit
the switch and go through the door.

At the end of the short passage, you will see mist on the ground. Lure the
guards in the next room over into the mist and kill them. Kill all the
civilians roaming the area (there are three), and then head back to where you
came in. With your back to the passage you came in through, head to the left
into the room with the phonograph playing the amazingly irritating music. You
can't turn it off or destroy the machine, so hit the switch and leave back
into the main hallway. Follow the piping to the door that the glyph energy
will open, and head through it.

Head straight over the checkpoint onto the lift, which will lower you to the
next level. On the walkways to the left and right are Warrior Knights. Kill
them and jump down to the ground level. Kill the two civilians, then run
around the room to hit the switches on all of the machines. Once you hit them
all, you will see a cinema showing you a switch on the upper level charging.
Climb the ladder to the upper level and hit the switch, which will turn that
large thing in the middle of the room on and start the conveyor belt. Head
back to the lower level.

Follow the conveyor belt into the next room, but don't fall into the hole.
Doing so will kill you. Grab the Lore Chest and head toward the door, which
will start a cinema. After the two guards blow themselves up, a couple of
their friends show up. Kill them and feed on all the bodies. Once all the
guards and civilians are sufficiently dead, head up the right-side ramp to
the second level. Move across the shattered walkway to the checkpoint and
door on the opposite side. Use the switch to position the gondola, and
proceed through the door and onto the gondola.

The gondola arrives at three civilians and a checkpoint. Kill the civilians
then go to the checkpoint and up the ladder. At the top of the ladder is a
Warrior Knight. Kill her and then head up the next ladder to your left. Turn
left and head through the doorway, where you will encounter another Warrior
Knight. Kill her and keep following the path to another Warrior Knight. Kill
her as well. Hit the switch and head through the door to the next checkpoint
and up the ladder.

To the right is a catwalk and two Glyph Guards. Kill the guards and grab one
of their weapons and the nearby Lore Chest, then continue. Hit the switch on
the outside of the metal railing to lower the lift, then get on and ride it
to the next level and go through the door.

head left past the checkpoint and kill the guard there. You can use the mists
ahead to make the fight easier, although the maneuvering space is kind of
limited. Follow the path under the archway and to the next lift on the right,
and ride it down below.

Off the lift, follow the path straight and turn left at the first section to
find a Lore Chest. A couple of Sarafan Knights will come running, so kill
them off. At the end of the path, turn to the left and jump to the rock and
follow it around and up a set of stairs. Follow the platform back down the
next set of stairs and kill the guard there, then go through the door.

Beyond the door is a checkpoint. Trigger it and continue through the doorway
to the left and towards the mists. A Sarafan Knight is here, and he attacks.
Kill him for his folly. Head into the room on the right, and kill the
civilian, then use the switch to open the door. Head to the left and pass a
conveyor belt going haywire. Ahead in a little alcove to the right is a
switch. Hit it to open the door and reverse the direction of the conveyor
belt, which you must then travel down. Head back to the conveyor belt and
ride it to the end. To your left is a new double-bladed sword if you want it.

Head to the right to the checkpoint after equipping yourself, and into the
mists again. The next room has four large furnaces and a group of two guards
and a Sarafan Knight. Killing the first guard, who is standing in the mist in
front of you, will attract the Knight. The other guard is in the mists on the
far left-hand side of the room. Once the room's security detail has been duly
slaughtered, hit the switch over by where the guard was standing to open the
door.

In this room, there is a door with a broken switch, and a large, red colored
window off your left. Go to the window and charm the human inside to open the
door for you. Do this by having him commit suicide and blowing up the whole
room with the grenade things to the right of the window. You might want to
make sure Kain is out of the way first! Jump through the broken window and
feed on all the dead bodies, then head up the tunnel exposed by the
explosion.

A bunch of falling rocks has killed some civilians up here, and a lone
survivor scramblem around. Let the survivor join his friends in the
afterlife, then head through the passage to the right, where you will find
an antique driller and a Lore Chest. Proceed through the next tunnel once you
have finished feeding and gaining lore.

Inside the busted building, a cinema between the mysterious vampire from way
earlier in the game and a couple of guards will start. The door to the next
room is broken, so you must again charm a person to open it for you. Inside,
you are accosted by the Sarafan Knight and guard from the cutscene. Kill them
and the two civilians, then proceed down the mist-laden corridor and through
the door to the left. There is a Glyph Sword at the end o the passage if you
want a new weapon.

Kill the two civilians in the next room, and then move to the large window
and charm one of the poor mortals behind it. Hit the switch to reverse the
direction of the conveyor belt, allowing you passage to the room. Ride the
conveyor belt and kill the civilian in the next room...he has served his
purpose. Once you have fed, proceed through the doorway to the next
checkpoint.

In the next room there is a guard. Lure him into the mists for easy killing,
then open the next door. Hit the switch next to the window in the next room,
then charm one of the mortals on the other side. Head down the conveyor belt
to the next room and hit the switch on the conveyor belt there. Revert
control back to Kain. Head down the now open conveyor belt to the next room
and kill the two guards and the civilian you used earlier. Head down the
second conveyor belt to get a Lore Chest. Head back into the other room and
go through the door to the right.

There is nothing at the top of the crates in the next room, so don't bother
climbing up there. Just kill the civilian and go through the next door. Head
into the next mist-covered room and kill the two guards. There is an
explosive device at the end of the corridor that Kain probably doesn't want
to have anything to do with. Guess we'll just have to find the sacrificial...
er...martyr human.

Head through the door to the left of the explosives, and then to the right.
Kill the two civilians, then go to the window, where you can charm a mortal
on the other side and use the explosive for you. Head around to where the
device was and feed off of the mortal that set the device for you, then get
on the lift.

At the top is a checkpoint and a guard roaming the mists. Hit the checkpoint
then kill the guard. In the next room, a Sarafan is alerted to your presence,
so you must kill him. Off to the left, another guard stands in the mist. Kill
him as well. Another Sarafan and guard duo roam the ramp up ahead, so move
over there and remove them from the picture. Once they are dead, move to the
Lore Chest at the other end of the platform and grab it, then activate the
switch, which opens a door beneath you. Head through it.

In the next room, charm a human and then use her to hit the switches in her
room and the adjacent room. Revert control back to Kain and head down the
conveyor to the left. Go through the door on the right and kill the civilian,
then head down the next conveyor. In the next room, charm yet another mortal,
and use them to hit the three switches in the room. One is next to the
window, and it opens a conveyor belt in the first room. The next is to the
right of the window (as you look at it), and the third is on the glowing
green machine.

Head back to the first room and head down the far conveyor belt into the room
the mortal was in. Kill the guard and the two civilians, then follow the
train system to another civilian and a lift. You know what to do. Kill the
civilian off to the left at the top of the lift, and leave the crank alone.
It doesn't do anything. Follow the pathway around the corner to the right and
up the next set of stairs, where a guard waits. Kill him and the three
civilians. This room has a flame spout coming from a nearby furnace, and an
explosive device is set on a train. The track is blocked by stoppers at
various locations. You need to clear a path for the train and set a stopper
directly under the flame to blow up the next wall.

Head over to the flame and pull the stopper there so it is on the track. Move
over by the train and move the stopper there off the track. Finally, move to
the switch on the console near the train to start the exploding process. Head
through the hole in the wall, past the checkpoint and onto the mist walkway.
Switching to mist form won't help you until the Sarafan up ahead has been
slain. Afterwards, you might still have the guard to stealth kill, but you
might have killed him already. Nevertheless, kill the two warriors and then
head towards the pit. There is nothing in the pit, so don't go down there.
Instead "jump" across to the other side and continue.

Kill the guard on the path ahead, then head into the next area and through
the doorway. Go straight past the right path and into the room in front of
you, where you will find a Lore Chest. Once you have gotten it, head back
down the path to the left. At the bottom is a checkpoint and a circular lift
stands in the middle of the floor. Get on it and ride it up to the next
level, a cinema scene, and the next boss fight.

BOSS FIGHT: SEBASTIAN
Stage 1: In the first stage of the fight, Sebastian's helper up top activates
steam vents that hurt the vampires if they touch it. Position yourself so
that a Fury attack will knock Sebastian into the steam. Block his attacks
then counter, sending him into the steam. After such a hit, Sebastian will
launch a red attack, so be ready to dodge. After 5 visits to the steam, stage
two will start.

Stage 2: Get away from the center platform, or Kain will be fried before this
stage even starts! Sebastian runs around the room, and the steam chases Kain.
In the middle of the room is a giant energy stream. Sebastian will eventually
stop on one of the walls to leap at Kain. Find out where he is, and position
yourself on the opposite side of the room, so that he jumps into the energy.
Do this 3 times and stage 3 will start.

Stage 3: Sebastian orders his minion to raise the platform so he can destroy
the Nexus Stone. Quickly jump up there and stop him or the entire place will
explode. Once on the platform, charm the mortal and make him hit the right
lever, flooding the floor below with steam. Revert control back to Kain.
Sebastian is too quick to get burned, and joins Kain on the platform. From
here it is a straight fight to the finish. Careful not to get knocked into
the steam!

After the fight, Kain is healed as usual and he gains the Dark Gift
"Berserk", and the final cutscene of the chapter plays.

                           13. CONTACT INFORMATION
=============================================================================
OK, if you feel the need to send in your comments, complaints, suggestions,
ideas, criticism, contributions, gripes, hate mail, threatening letters,
etc., you can reach me at the following places, in order of preference:

E-mail: [email protected]

IM Services:
Yahoo! Messenger: celtic_lupus
MSN Messenger: [email protected]
ICQ: 98057442

Yes, I am very well aware that I have a second e-mail address listed here,
but any e-mail relating to FAQ's sent to that address will be prone to
immediate deletion. Why? Because I went through the trouble of establishing a
whole new address at Yahoo! so that I can easily keep my mails separated. It
makes it much easier for me when all of the e-mail relating to FAQ's are kept
separate from my everyday, business-related e-mail. It also insures that you
will get a quicker response, since I do not have to wade through hundreds of
e-mails searching for ones that are from my FAQ patrons seeking help or
offering advice.

A few quick pointers here, before you send anything:
1. Make your subject line specific. It helps to know what game you are
talking about and what the contents of your letter are. If I can't easily
figure out what it is you're talking about, don't be surprised if you don't
get a response.

2. Don't send me questions that are already answered in the guide. They WILL
be ignored. It makes all of my work futile if I am going to type up a huge
FAQ and then have it completely ignored. Read the guide first.

3. Don't ask me to send you the guide. I didn't submit it to GameFAQ's page
just because I was bored.

4. If you are going to send criticism, try to keep it constructive. It won't
bother me to get e-mails that say: "Your guide sucks!". They will simply be
ignored, and then your time and mine will have gone to waste.

5. Don't send me anything in any language other than English. It will be
ignored, for the main reason that I can't comprehend it. Don't expect me to
go out and buy a bunch of foreign language dictionaries and grammar books to
attempt to translate your e-mail and send a reply.

6. I realize that many of you might wish to send in your contributions. I
encourage this, but there is one outstanding stipulation. Don't send me
anything that even remotely resembles a walkthrough. I might be forced to
block your e-mail entirely if this happens. Why? Games aren't cheap, and the
only way that I can acquire them is by working hard every day and spending my
paycheck to get them. It kind of ruins the fun factor for me when someone who
is much further along in the game than me sends me stuff walking me through
parts of the game that I haven't even had a chance to figure out for myself
yet. Just don't do it. It's irritating.

7. Last but not least, please do not send any messages that are typed in all
caps. You know, don't hit that key called "Caps Lock" and then type up a huge
message that looks SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THIS. I have trouble reading material
that is typed in such a manner, ergo it will be ignored.

I want to thank AdrenalineSL for her Do's and Don'ts list. It gave me an idea
of problems that have been encountered already and allows me to better
prepare and protect myself from junk e-mail. You rock!

That being said, if your messages adhere to the given regulations, then there
should be no problem, and I will send you the requested information as soon
as time permits. Regulations will be amended at a later time to include
anything that hasn't been covered yet, if the need arises.
