INTRODUCTION

Donkey Kong is back, this time in the largest adventure ever seen on the Nintendo
64. Along with DK, you’ll join three other Kongs on a huge quest to restore DK's
famous banana hort. Diddy and Tiny return from previous adventures, while Lanky and
the super cool Chunky make their first appearances. Along the way you will familiar
faces such as Rambi, Enguarde, Cranky, Funky, and even the ghost of Wrinkly Kong.

You’ve probably already been exploring this massive game, so this guide won’t hold
your hand every step of the way. What it will do, however, is tell you exactly what
you need to do to get your paws on all 200 golden bananas in the game.

GAME BASICS

At the start of the game, you will only be able to control DK. As you progress
through the levels, you will find and free the other four Kongs.

Each Kong has unique abilities that need to be used to gather five golden bananas
per level, per character. These are gathered in different ways in each level, but
one of the five is always obtained by finding a blueprint and returning it to
Snide’s shack.

Shacks
There are four different types of shacks in the game, but not all of them appear in
every level. They are:

Cranky - Cranky makes potions for the Kongs that give them special abilities.

Funky - Funky is the source of weapons for the Kongs.

Candy - Candy provides musical instruments.

Snide - Snide collects blueprints from each Kong, and in exchange gives them a
golden banana.

Of course, the potions and weapons are not free. To get them, simply collect the
coins that are scattered around the levels. It is a good idea to find each hut as
early as possible whenever you start a new level. You never know when a new move
will be offered.

To complete a level 100% with each character you must do the following:

1. Collect 75 small bananas for a medallion.
2. Find a blueprint, and return it to Snide for a golden banana.
3. Collect four other bananas for a total of 5 each level.

Fairies
These are scattered all over the place. Whenever you hear one giggling, look around
and you will probably find it. By taking pictures of them, secrets can be unlocked.
These are described in the Secrets section at the end of this guide.

Gold Crowns
These are obtained by completing the battle arena levels. There is one per stage.

Bonus Barrels
These lead to a bonus round that will reward you a golden banana for completing it.

Banana Objectives
Each monkey needs to collect five bananas in each level, and five in the central
hub. In the regular levels, turning a blueprint into Snide always collects the fifth
banana. Blueprints are found on enemies with their hair the same color as that
character’s small bananas, coins, etc.

FREEING THE KONGS

DONKEY KONG
You start off the game with only Donkey Kong at your disposal. In order to use the
other Kongs, you must first locate them, and then perform some sort of small task
that will both free them from their prison as well as reward you a golden banana. In
case you're having problems locating and freeing one of the characters, we have put
together this quick list of pointers.

DIDDY KONG
Level: Jungle Japes
Diddy is found in the first level, Jungle Japes. To find him, climb up the cliff
side vine, then swing across the vines to the cannon. Rocket up to find Diddy. After
you talk with him, three coconut switches will appear. The left and right ones are
easy to shoot, but the middle one is a little trickier. You need to stand on either
ledge with the swinging vines, look down, and shoot. Once all three are shot, you
will free Diddy.

TINY KONG
Level: Angry Aztec
Both Tiny and Lanky are in the Angry Aztec level. You will need to use both DK and
Diddy to free both. For Tiny, use Diddy to enter the first temple. Stomp the Diddy
switch and then climb up the platforms. Once at the top, look across and shoot the
peanut switch. That will create a new platform that you will cross to a music pad.
Use the pad to melt the ice down below and open your way to Tiny. Swim through the
tunnels until you come to the room with Tiny in it. Dash the blocks in the correct
order to spell out "K-O-N-G".

LANKY KONG
Level: Angry Aztec
To free Lanky, you need to first free the llama as DK. Then, go to the llama temple,
and shoot the switch to enter. Find the music pad inside, and use it to have the
llama come and turn to lava into water. Swim through the water to the room where
Lanky is held, then shoot the switch to free him.

CHUNKY KONG
Level: Frantic Factory
The final Kong, Chunky, is held in the Frantic Factory level. You will need to use
Lanky to free him. From the entrance, go through the left hall and down the long
pole. Follow the halls through one room, then exit into another hallway. This will
lead to the room where Chunky is held in a large cage near the ceiling (there is a
stack of boxes at one side of the room, which is the one main landmark to know you
are in the right place). Use Lanky to climb up the pipe in the corner and stomp on
the Lanky switch to free Chunky.

BANANA OBJECTIVES

Each monkey needs to collect five bananas in each level, and five in the central
hub. In every level, turning a blueprint into Snide always collects the fifth
banana. Blueprints are found on enemies with their hair the same color as that
character’s small bananas, coins, etc.

JUNGLE JAPES

The first level is Jungle Japes. At first, you will only have DK, but you can find
Diddy in this level. Later, you will want to return here with each character.

DONKEY KONG

Banana 1: Just talk to Diddy.

Banana 2: Free Diddy be shooting the three coconut switches with your gun.

Banana 3: Pound the DK switch near Cranky’s hut. The switch is under a hut that you
need to use Rambi to destroy, and then it frees a banana near the first tunnel.

Banana 4: Complete the first Barrel Blast level.

Banana 5: Kill the yellow haired Krusha in the tunnel where there was the second
coconut switch for the Blueprint.

DIDDY KONG

Banana 1: In the entrance tunnel there is a small cave. Shoot the peanut switches to
get to the banana.

Banana 2: Stomp the Diddy switch (again under a hut), and then use the #4 teleporter
to get to the banana before the timer runs out.

Banana 3: Enter the mountain (by shooting the peanut switch on the side), then shoot
the peanut switch inside which will then extend a bridge. Walk across the bridge and
pound a switch to make a banana appear on top of the mountain.

Banana 4: Deeper in the mountain, ram the switch, then climb up to the large pipe.
Enter the pipe, complete the mine cart bonus stage, and you will receive the fourth
banana.

Banana 5: Kill the red haired Krusha using the peanut gun for a Blueprint.

TINY KONG

Banana 1: Shoot the switches in the first cave to play a bonus stage for a banana.

Banana 2: Just like Diddy, pound the Tiny switch and use the teleporter to get to
the banana before time runs out.

Banana 3: Shrink, and go into the shell. Open the doors, and then you will get the
banana.

Banana 4: Again, while shrunk jump off the mushroom and into the tree trunk.

Banana 5: Find and defeat the purple haired Krusha in the tunnel and turn in the
Blueprint.

LANKEY KONG

Banana 1: As with Tiny, enter the first cave and shoot the switches to get a bonus
game for a banana.

Banana 2: Again, stomp the switch near the Cranky Kong shack and race to the banana
before time runs out.

Banana 3: Use Lanky’s special handstand move to walk up the steep hills in the
tunnel leading to Cranky. In there is a bonus round barrel that will score you a
banana.

Banana 4: Again, use the handstand move to climb up the steep hill where there was a
peanut switch that Diddy shot. Inside, stomp on the two pegs to reveal the banana.

Banana 5: In the tunnels near Cranky’s is the blue haired Krusha, which will score
you the Blueprint.

CHUNKY KONG

Banana 1: Once again, you have to stomp a switch, but this one is hidden. It is
behind the giant Rambi wall, which you need to use Rambi to break open. Then you
have to throw the large rock there to find the switch. Once you stomp the switch,
use the teleporter near Cranky’s to get to the water. Then climb up the vine and
jump on top of Funky’s. From there, jump from the top of the banana to the next
ledge and run as fast as you can to the banana before the timer reaches zero.

Banana 2: The second banana is in the large rock on top of the large "X" panel near
the entrance tunnel. Throw the rock to get the banana.

Banana 3: After you toss the rock, stomp the "X" until it breaks, and you will drop
down into a small cave. Walk to the end of the cave and shoot the two switches in
the skull.

Banana 4: Go into the same area where Tiny used her shrinking ability. On the center
platform of the area Tiny can use his special ability to reach a bonus barrel.

Banana 5: Chunky’s Blueprint waits for him in the tunnel under the “X” square.

ANGRY AZTEC

Both Tiny and Lanky are freed in this level.

DONKEY KONG

Banana 1: Explore the level until you find a building with a llama on the door. Use
the DK pad to fly into the sky to free the caged llama, and a banana.

Banana 2: Once you free the llama, you can enter the llama temple by shooting a
switch. Inside, you can get a banana by freeing Lanky.

Banana 3: Use DK’s new special ability to walk over the sand and into the cave (once
the way is cleared). At the end of the cave is a bonus barrel.

Banana 4: For the final banana, you must make your way through the other temple, get
the banana, then get out before time runs out. Each character will need to do this
for a banana. We’ll just refer to it as the "Temple run"

Banana 5: In the first tunnel, use the DK barrel to cross the sand and fight the
Krusha on the bridge.

DIDDY KONG

Banana 1: Temple run (see DK Banana 4).

Banana 2: In the other temple, free Tiny by spelling "KONG" via pounding the
switches. The first of the super challenging puzzles in the game.

Banana 3: You need to use the jetpack and fly through the circle at the top of the
statue. That will free the buzzard. Next, you need to follow the buzzard and fly
through all the rings that he leaves behind him. Be sure to stay close to him.

Banana 4: For the fourth banana, find a platform with four gongs on it. Charge each
one, and a tower will rise up. Grab the jetpack and fly to the top for your banana.

Banana 5: Fly to the top of the first temple and defeat the Krusha for the Blueprint.

TINY KONG

Banana 1: Temple run. (see DK Banana 4).

Banana 2: In the first temple, if you shrink and dive into the pool, you will see an
entrance that you can get into. Go through there to find a bonus barrel.

Banana 3: In the llama temple, shrink to access a small puzzle. Stomp the Tiny
switches to reveal the banana.

Banana 4: Go to the tower that Diddy raised, and shrink. Stand on the music pad and
play your instrument to call a bird that will carry you to the top where you can
enter the tower to get to a racing mini game. Slide down the slope, while collecting
50 coins, and come in first to get the banana.

Banana 5: In the second tunnel fight the Krusha near the table in the middle.

LANKEY KONG

Banana 1: Temple run. (see DK Banana 4).

Banana 2: In the llama temple, if you play Lanky’s instrument in the main room, two
large heads will rise from the water. Use those to access a bonus barrel.

Banana 3: Again in the same temple, solve the rotating head puzzle. You need to
shoot a head, and then shoot another one of the same color and sound. It works just
like the old game "Memory". Once all heads are rotating, you will get a banana.

Banana 4: In the first temple stomp the Lanky switch, and a bird will appear
carrying the banana. You need to shoot him until he drops it.

Banana 5:In the temple use the teleporter to reach the Blueprint.

CHUNKY KONG

Banana 1: Temple run. (see DK Banana 4).

Banana 2: In the tunnel, you will find an area where you need to shoot switches to
get to. Once you do, you need to place the matching vase on the correct base. Once
all of them are in place, you will get the banana.

Banana 3: In the first temple play Chunky’s triangle on the pad to access a rotating
room. Kill all the Klaptraps until the banana appears.

Banana 4: In the other tunnel, use the barrel to get buff, and then pick up the
giant boulder to place it on the table in the middle. That will raise the cage,
giving you access to the bonus barrel and banana.

Banana 5: Chunky’s Blueprint is also in the temple.

FRANTIC FACTORY

The final Kong, Chunky is freed here.

DONKEY KONG

Banana 1: Find the room with the large numbered blocks in the middle of the room.
Pound the DK switch, and then you have to pound the numbers in ascending order in
the time allowed.

Banana 2: Once you find the High Voltage building, shoot the coconut switch to open
it up. Once inside, pull the switch to activate the large machine in the middle of
the level.

Banana 3: Now that you have the machine activated, you can enter the doorway at
floor level. Inside, use the barrel for DK’s special ability to safely make it to
the banana waiting at the end of the area.

Banana 4:When you find the classic Donkey Kong arcade machine, pull the switch to
activate it. Clear level four with the one lift that they give you to receive the
banana.

Banana 5: Way up near the top of the giant machine is DK’s Blueprint.

DIDDY KONG

Banana 1: Pound the Diddy switch in the large machine room, and make your way up to
the banana. The other four Kongs will need to do the same thing, but you can use the
#4 teleporter to make the trip back up easier.

Banana 2: Right in front of the high voltage room is a Diddy switch. If you pound
that, you will gain access to a bonus game that will reward you with a banana.

Banana 3: Find the room with a large stack of blocks in the middle of it. Use
Diddy’s new special ability to reach the top where there is a bonus barrel waiting.

Banana 4: Play Diddy’s guitar at the glass to enter the room. Ram the blocks in the
order shown on the doors, and you will receive a banana after you solve the third
one.

Banana 5: Near the base of the giant machine is the red Krusha.

TINY KONG

Banana 1: Pound the Tiny switch and go to a bonus barrel for your banana.

Banana 2: Shrink where you see a small race track, and come in first with the right
amount of coins for a banana.

Banana 3: In the room where the DK arcade machine is, shrink again to enter a small
tunnel where a golden banana waits at the end.

Banana 4: One last time, shrink in the block room to play a small dart mini game for
a banana.

Banana 5: In the room where there are purple coins around a pole, there is also a
purple Krusha. Defeat it to get a Blueprint.

LANKEY KONG

Banana 1: Pound the Lanky switch.

Banana 2: In the block room, use your new balloon special move to float to a bonus
barrel.

Banana 3: Find the room where Chunky’s cage is. Use your special handstand walk to
reach a switch that will free him and a banana.

Banana 4: Use Lanky’s instrument to open the glass and access the puzzle. Just
memorize and repeat the tunes. Complete it for a banana.

Banana 5: In the large room where there are the various puzzles for the Kongs is a
blue Krusha who is holding the Blueprint.

CHUNKY KONG

Banana 1: Pound the Chunky switch.

Banana 2: Locate a metal grate, and use your new punch move to smash through it.
Inside is a bonus barrel.

Banana 3: Once again smash a metal grate to enter a small room with three platforms.
Pound the box in the corner to reveal a switch pound that switch to reveal the
banana. Punch the button on the wall, then use the moving platforms to reach the
banana.

Banana 4: Use Chunky’s triangle to open the glass the small room (after you bash
through the gate), and defeat all the enemies for a banana. The final enemy will
require you to use Chunky’s special ability barrel to defeat.

Banana 5: The room with the stack of blocks is where you will find Chunky’s Krusha.

GLOOMY GALLEON

This is the first level where you have all five Kongs right at the beginning, and it
is massive.

DONKEY KONG

Banana 1: Near the lighthouse, there is a DK pad that will launch you into a Barrel
Blast level. Complete that to free a seal and score a banana.

Banana 2: After you free the seal, win a race against him (and collect 10 coins) for
another banana.

Banana 3: Near Funky’s shack, there is an island with music pads for each character.
Play your instrument there, and a door in the sunken ship will open.

Banana 4: Go inside the lighthouse (by pushing the "up" button on the base of the
island) and climb to the top and stomp a DK switch that will light the fuse and give
you a banana.

Banana 5: After Diddy activates the fourth teleporter, DK can use it to get to his
Blueprint.

DIDDY KONG

Banana 1: Just like DK, use the music pad to open a gate. You will need to lower the
water first in order to reach the pad via the button on the lighthouse base, though.

Banana 2: For the next banana, use the Diddy barrel near the lighthouse to get the
jetpack, then rocket over to the ship circling it. Stomp the Diddy switch, then
rocket to the top of the lighthouse for your banana.

Banana 3: While on top of the lighthouse, play your guitar on the pad there to free
a large mechanical fish from its cage in the other cove. Run over there as fast as
possible, and swim into its mouth. Now inside, kill the annoying bee then get onto
the driftwood. Shoot each vent on the large heart three times in the time allowed
for your banana.

Banana 4: The last banana requires you to use Lanky to turn into Enguarde to open up
the way to a large room with towers of gold coins. Jumping through the DK star three
times does this. Inside, it works just like the blocks in the last level. Bounce
your way to the top.

Banana 5: When the water level is low, you can access the small cave in the
lighthouse cove to get Diddy’s Blueprint.

TINY KONG

Banana 1: Yet again, enter the sunken ship for a banana.

Banana 2: Shrink and enter the giant shell and talk to the mermaid. Find her five
missing pearls and return them for a banana. To find them, go to the treasure room,
and enter the keyhole of the giant chest. The pearls are in the oysters.

Banana 3: Pound the Tiny switch and go to the half sunken ship.

Banana 4:Go to the large cove and find a small chunk of metal. If you shrink, you
can enter the small opening for a banana.

Banana 5: Use the cannon near Cranky’s to launch you up to the small plank walkways.
Tiny’s Blueprint Krusha is in one of the small alcoves.

LANKEY KONG

Banana 1: Once again, enter the ship the same way the others did.

Banana 2: Pound the Lanky switch and swim to the half-buried ship in the large cove.

Banana 3: Use Enguarde to smash all the chests until you find the one with a banana
in it.

Banana 4: In the coin room, use the other tower and float your way to the top for a
bonus barrel.

Banana 5: When the water is high, Lanky can climb onto the docks near the entrance
to get his Blueprint.

CHUNKY KONG

Banana 1: Before you get into the water, walk to the area where Cranky is. If you
walk into one of the tunnels you will find three chests. Use your super punch to
break open all three for a fairy, music refilling headphones, and a banana.

Banana 2: Enter the sunken ship once again, as the others did.

Banana 3: Near the main entrance, you can turn right and go into an area where you
will find a cannon. If you have the water raised, you can reach the cannon, and
carry the cannonball over to it to get a banana by shooting the targets in the time
allowed.

Banana 4: Get on the ship circling the lighthouse, then smash into the trap door
until you get into the hold. Super punch through the mesh, then super punch the
barrels until your face appears on them for a banana.

Banana 5: Chunky’s Blueprint waits for him on the island with all the music pads.

FUNGI FOREST

In this level, you are able to change the environment back and forth from day to
night using a large tree-clock. Some doors can be only opened at day, while others
only open at night. Also, Cranky offers a potion that will allow you to stomp the
blue switches.

DONKEY KONG

Banana 1: For the first banana, go to the giant mushroom. Inside are switches for
each Kong. Use everyone to shoot the switches, then use DK to super stomp the
switch. Use the cannon to get to the banana.

Banana 2: On one of the walkways outside the giant mushroom is a DK pad that will
send you into a barrel blast stage for a banana.

Banana 3: In the large barn, stomp a box to reveal a DK switch. The switch opens a
door to three levers. Find the lever combo on the wall above the banana then pull
them in the correct order to reveal a banana.

Banana 4: In the smaller barn, stomp another box to reveal another DK switch. This
one brings a bonus barrel that you need to swing to in the time allowed.

Banana 5: At night, defeat the Krusha behind the thorns near the barn.

DIDDY KONG

Banana 1: After you climb up the cable near the waterwheel house, stomp the switch
on the roof to gain access to the winch room. Shoot the "ON" switch then dash at the
up arrow to reveal a cage with a banana. Across the moat is a music pad that will
release the banana.

Banana 2:On one of the barns, there is a Diddy pad that you can use to get into a
small door. Once inside, play your guitar to call a bird with a flashlight. Use that
light to walk along the planks to the banana.

Banana 3:Inside the big tree (Lanky will open the way) is a guitar pad. By playing
it you will wake up an owl, fly through the rings and then do the bonus barrel.

Banana 4:Use your jet pack to get to the top of the giant mushroom for a bonus
barrel.

Banana 5:Inside the giant mushroom, climb to the lower of the two vine platforms
where the red Krusha is.

TINY KONG

Banana 1:Just like DK, smash the switch in the mushroom, and the banana will be
revealed. It is in a bonus barrel that you will need to climb to.

Banana 2: Go to the large tree area and walk behind the giant stump. Shrink, then
use the music pad to call your bird friend. Drop down into the hole and kill all the
klaptraps inside to get a banana, and a magic bean.

Banana 3: Take the magic bean to the area near Funky’s to get another banana.

Banana 4: Find a giant spider by shrinking the barn near the #1 teleporter. You need
to do this at night, so during the day have Chunky smash through the wall and break
the boxes inside that are blocking the small hole for Tiny. First defeat the small
spiders, then shoot the large one in the eyes three times for the banana.

Banana 5: The purple Krusha is on a deck of the third level of the giant mushroom.

LANKEY KONG

Banana 1: The switch on top of the mushroom opens two doors for a short period of
time. In one, it's very easy to get the banana. All you have to do is bounce off the
mushrooms to reach it.

Banana 2: In the other room, use the picture of the Kongs that is on the wall and
stomp the color-coded mushrooms in that order.

Banana 3: In the barn where Diddy pulled up the cage, there is a small doorway that
Lanky can enter. Inside you need to stomp the switch, and then shoot down all the
bats.

Banana 4: The fourth banana can only be received after going to the next level
(Crystal Caves), and getting a new potion from Cranky. Once you do, wake up the
rabbit by using the music pad, and beat him in a race twice.

Banana 5: Lanky’s Blueprint Krushea is under the giant tree (in the small tunnel).

CHUNKY KONG

Banana 1:The first banana is actually pretty easy to get. There is a well near the
clock that if you stomp the grate, you will be thrown into a new mine cart bonus
level. Once again, collect 50 coins for your banana.

Banana 2:Go to the barn where DK did the level puzzle, and enter once again by
breaking down the large door. Play your little triangle (which will then turn on the
machine), then place three barrels onto the belt to get the banana.

Banana 3:On the top floor of the mushroom, there is a door with a Chunky switch in
front of it. Stomp the switch, then solve the puzzle inside by shooting the squares
until an image of Chunky is formed.

Banana 4:For the final banana, goto the area near Funky's and use the Cranky barrel
to get all buff. Squash the killer tomatos then pick up the worm's home and carry it
to the patch of dirt with an apple on it (its near the clock).

Banana 5:At night, near the middle interior of the giant mushroom, swing on the
vines to reach a outside deck where the green Krusha is.

CRYSTAL CAVES

DONKEY KONG

Banana 1:There is a DK pad near Cranky's that will take you to a barrel blast level
that ends with a bonus barrel.

Banana 2: The next banana is both tricky and frustrating to get. You will first need
to get Diddy to fly through the DK star above the igloo. Then, you need to play your
bongos to enter it. Inside, prepare to pull your hair out. There is a rotating ice
maze with a banana inside. The trick is, even touching the maze walls once will take
off an entire melon of life. What you need to do, is make as much progress as
possible when the maze is moving away from you, and continue walking when it is
moving toward you.

Banana 3: Near Candy's are two cabins. One of those can only be entered by DK.
Inside, stomp the blue switches to rotate the room, and play a little matching game
using the four-square boxes on each wall.

Banana 4: The other cabin is easy for DK. Just shoot down all the bees in the room.

Banana 5: DK’s blueprint is on a small ledge near the castle. You need to carefully
walk on the small plank to get to it.

DIDDY KONG

Banana 1: Diddy will also have to go in the igloo, but his task is easier than DK's.
What you need to do, is remove the barrels from their bases in the correct order.
The bases are numbered, but you can only see the numbers after picking up a barrel.
So, pick up a barrel, and if it is not the right number, put it down and check
another.

Banana 2: Right next to Funky's is a bonus barrel floating in mid air. Use your
jetpack to reach it.

Banana 3: There are two doors for Diddy to enter on the large cabin. The first one
is hard. You need to burst in, and kill all the enemies in the time allowed. Use
your jetpack and peanuts for the two weaker ones, then use oranges for the others.

Banana 4: Compared to the last banana, this one is very easy. Strap on your jetpack
and light the candles.

Banana 5: After Tiny activates the fourth teleporter, Diddy can use the one of the
stalagmite to reach the red Krusha.

TINY KONG

Banana 1: As with the others, Tiny must enter the igloo. Defeat the enemy inside,
then stomp the switch. Then you will need to stomp the switch that is circling the
room three times.

Banana 2: Nearby the igloo is a wall of ice with a small hole in it. Shrink down to
get to a bonus barrel.

Banana 3: Near Funky's is a path leading to another wall of ice with another small
hole in it. Glide over to the small ledge to shrink, then glide back and enter the
tiny cave. Then use the Tiny pad to teleport inside one of the ice domes over near
the igloo.

Banana 4: Finally, Tiny needs to go into the cabin. Defeat the enemies using
oranges, then glide to get the banana.

Banana 5: Tiny’s purple Krusha can be found near the cabins.

LANKEY KONG

Banana 1: Surprise! Lanky also has to go through the igloo. By defeating all the
enemies inside, a Lanky pad will appear. Then you need to use that to reach the
banana.

Banana 2: Go near the cabin that can only be entered by DK, and there will be
another cabin to the right that can be entered only by Lanky. On the roof is the pad
which allows Lanky to enter. Inside, you need to float to the Lanky barrel, drop
down and run at full speed to the switch in order to grab the banana in time.

Banana 3: The next two bananas are in the large ice castle. For the first one, stomp
the switch and you will gain access to a race against the bug from the Angry Aztec
level. Be sure to have collected Lanky's speed walk power from Cranky before you
race here.

Banana 4:The next banana requires you to solve a small puzzle inside the castle.
Simply turn over more squares than the monster, and you will win.

Banana 5:Use the Lanky pads to float up to the high ledge near Funky’s to find the
blue Krusha.

CHUNKY KONG

Banana 1: Inside the igloo, punch the flames to save the rabbit.

Banana 2: Find the small room with the giant rock. You need to turn into Hunky
Chunky and carry it to the revolving switch. That will allow you access to the
banana in the other ice dome near the igloo.

Banana 3: Goto Cranky and get your new potion. Then go to the entrance and smash
through the wall to the Cranky pad inside. Use it and a banana will be revealed.

Banana 4: The final banana waits for you in the cabin. Stomp the bull's-eyes and a
Chunky pad will appear. Use that to access a bonus barrel.

Banana 5: Chunky can find his Krusha on top of the igloo.

CREEPY CASTLE

This is the final level where you will have to gather golden bananas. By now, all
the puzzles here are easy as you have done most of them before. Cranky offers a new
potion to allow you to stomp the red switches in this level.

DONKEY KONG

Banana 1: Near the entrance, there is a large tree. If you go to Funky and get the
cool sniper gun, you can get a banana inside the tree. You need to zoom in with the
gun to hit the targets to raise the water for the banana.

Banana 2: Inside the castle is a puzzle in a small way similar to the lever puzzle
in Fungi Forest, and if you solve it you will need to complete another mine cart
level. As in Fungi forest, the puzzle solution is on the wall.

Banana 3: Remember that Chunky puzzle in Fungi Forest where you had to form an image
of your face? Well inside the castle DK has to do the same thing, but you need to
stomp the tiles, not shoot them.

Banana 4: Inside the library, you need to first stomp the red switch, then use the
DK barrel to run invincible to the banana.

Banana 5: Inside the big tree is a barrel blast, complete it to get to the yellow
Krusha.

DIDDY KONG

Banana 1: Now, Diddy must face the toughest puzzle in the game (yes, even harder
than spelling "KONG"). In the catacombs you will find a large coffin where you must
rack your brain and pound the switches in order. They are numbered 1 to 4, so try
your best to bash them in order.

Banana 2: When you find the gold banana that disappears when you get close to it,
simply snipe the peanut switch and swing to it.

Banana 3: Light the candles in the ballroom with your jetpack to get to a bonus
barrel.

Banana 4: Fly to the top of the castle for another bonus barrel.

Banana 5: The red Krusha can be found in the middle of the crypt area.

TINY KONG

Banana 1: Jump and glide from each skeleton hand under the castle to reach the
banana.

Banana 2: Again, under the castle, glide to the bonus barrel.

Banana 3: Inside the ballroom, use the Tiny pad to teleport to the top, then shrink
down to complete another racing mini-game.

Banana 4: Find the silo outside the castle and shrink down. Then, bouce inside and
shoot down all the enemies.

Banana 5: There is a ledge in the crypt area where the purple Krusha waits for Tiny.

LANKEY KONG

Banana 1: In the catacombs, shoot the grape switch, then use the Lanky barrel to run
as fast as you can to the gate. Then use the music pad to get to the banana.

Banana 2: While under the castle, stomp the Lanky switch, then use the music pad.
Finally, use the Lanky pads to float to a bonus barrel.

Banana 3: On the way to the top of the castle is a Lanky switch that will give you
access to a hedge maze. Use the barrel to speed your way through it.

Banana 4: At the top of the castle stomp the Lanky switch. Then snipe the switches
and float to the bonus barrel.

Banana 5: The blue Krusha can be found just beyond the drawbridge.

CHUNKY KONG

Banana 1: Inside the tree, Chunky can snipe a switch for a bonus barrel.

Banana 2: Under the castle, break open the coffins for a bonus barrel.

Banana 3: Find the small shack near the greenhouse, then break open the crate to
find the Chunky pad. Turn invisible, then play your triangle to kill the bats and
get your banana.

Banana 4: In the museum, super punch the three gongs, then place the boulder on the
table.

Banana 5: Chunky’s Blueprint is easy to find. Simply follow the trail of bananas
from the dungeon entrance.

CENTRAL HUB

By now you are powerful enough to get all the central hub bananas at once. Some you
may already have found just by exploring, but all are listed below. As with the
normal levels, there are also blue prints to gather. You will want to be sure to
find them all before heading to the final level.

DONKEY KONG

Banana 1: This is actually the first banana in the game. You get it after talking
with K. Lumsy for the first time.

Banana 2:There is a banana on the way up to Frantic Factory. Shoot the coconut
switch to get it.

Banana 3:In the Frantic Factory lobby, pull the lever to access the upper level
where there is a music pad.

Banana 4: In the lobby of Crystal Caves, have Chunky break down the ice wall, then
use the DK barrel to walk across the lava to the banana.

Banana 5: After Creepy Castle, and after you activate all the teleporters, use the
teleporter near the Hideout Helm entrance then shoot the switch to reveal the Krusha.

DIDDY KONG

Banana 1: Once you have accessed the Diddy barrel in front of Fungi Forest, you can
rocket over to the banana on top of the waterfall. To get the barrel have Chunky
throw away the boulders near Angry Aztec, then use Lanky on the pad.

Banana 2: There is a bonus barrel high up on the top of the mountain that you will
need to rocket to.

Banana 3: Right next to Snide’s (Snide is found on the island that Frantic Factory
is), there is a Diddy pad to access a bonus barrel.

Banana 4: As with DK in the Frantic Factory lobby, Diddy has a banana in the Crystal
Caves lobby. Use the Diddy barrel to fly as high as you can to find a music pad.

Banana 5: On the small island in the lobby to Creepy Castle there is a Krusha behind
a cage. Use DK to open the cage, then defeat the enemy with Diddy.

TINY KONG

Banana 1: Tiny’s first banana is on the fairy island where you need to shoot a
switch to get it.

Banana 2: In the lobby of Gloomy Galleon, Chunky can stomp a switch to open a small
passageway for Tiny to enter. That will lead you to the banana.

Banana 3: If you hit the two gongs in the Angry Aztec lobby, a bonus barrel will
appear that Tiny can glide to.

Banana 4: Use the Tiny pad on the island where Frantic Factory is to reach a music
pad that will give you a banana.

Banana 5: With Chunky, punch the box in the lobby of Frantic Factory to reveal
Tiny’s Krusha.

LANKEY KONG

Banana 1: In the very first level lobby, Jungle Japes, there is a music pad under a
boulder that will give you a banana.

Banana 2: On the back on K. Lumsy’s island you’ll find a banana behind bars.

Banana 3 :Inside that same island is a Lanky barrel and switch. Use the barrel, then
run over the switch.

Banana 4: Inside the Creepy Castle lobby, use the Lanky pad to float to the top of
the small island for a bonus barrel.

Banana 5: Lanky’s Krusha can be found in the lobby of Crystal Caves near the DK
barrel.

CHUNKY KONG

Banana 1: On the main island, just find banana behind bars and shoot the switch.

Banana 2: Near Angry Aztec throw the boulder then use the music pad.

Banana 3: After getting Tiny’s banana on the island where Frantic Factory is, a
Chunky barrel will appear on the island where you found the fairy earlier. Use that
and go to the large "X" platform. Then stomp the "X".

Banana 4: Make yourself invisible in the Hideout Helm lobby to reveal the way to a
bonus barrel.

Banana 5: In the entrance lobby to Gloomy Galleon you will find Chunky’s Krusha.

The 201st Banana!: You may have thought that you have found all the bananas once you
collect number 200. But, you still have one more to get. After you take pictures of
all the fairies in the game, return to the fairy island with Tiny. Inside the great
fairy will reward you for your hard work with the final banana in the game.

HIDEOUT HELM

There are no bananas in the final level. But, you still need to work hard.

The first part of the level is timed, but if you managed to collect all of Snide’s
blueprints you will have plenty of time to complete it. Each Kong must use the same
moves they have been using for the majority of the game to get to the machine room,
and then stand on a music pad.

Once they all do that, each must go through mini-games. Once you complete that, K.
Rool will depart leaving behind the final boss key you need to free K. Lumsy. The
problem is, you need both the Nintendo and the Rare coin to get in to the key.

For the Nintendo Coin:

You must first beat the original Donkey Kong game. It is located in the Frantic
Factory area, and you will need to use a Gorilla-Grab to operate the lever. Once you
beat all four stages, play once more and finish it again to win the coin.

For the Rare Coin:

Collect at least fifteen Banana Medals, then go see Cranky. He will let you play the
classic Jetpac game, and if you score 5,000 points, the Rareware coin will fall from
the sky.

Once you have the key, you can free K. Lumsy and go on to the final battle against
K. Rool.

BOSS STRATEGIES

Are you having a problem beating a certain boss? No problem. Here are some quick
pointers at how to get rid of the oversized troublemakers.

Army Dillo
The first boss is very simple. As DK, simply move left and right to dodge the
fireballs, then run away from him when he rolls around the arena. When he pops his
head out of his shell, toss the TNT barrel at him.

Dogadon
Dogadon needs the same strategy to defeat as Army Dillo, but you use Diddy, and you
don’t need to worry about him rolling after you. Whenever he lands, toss the TNT
barrel at him.

Mad Jack
This jack-in-the-box is probably the most annoying and frustrating boss in the game.
You need to use Tiny to glide from platform to platform as he chases around. When he
lands you need to find a platform that is the same color as the one that he is
sitting on, that also has a switch. Stomp the switch then repeat the process.

Puftoss
For this easy boss, simply use Lanky and drive the boat through the five DK stars
multiple times.

Dogadon 2
Now, Chunky has to face Dogadon. Use the same strategy as before, but after the
platform starts to sink, throw the TNT barrel at him, use the Chunky barrel, and
super punch him three times every chance you get.

Army Dillo 2
Again, DK must face Army Dillo. Use the same strategy as before, and then run in
very tight circles to shake the new homing missile that he will fire at you.

King Kut Out
The final "regular" boss is a cardboard cut-out of K. Rool. Use each Kong and blast
them to the giant piece of paper.

K. Rool
To defeat K Rool you will need to use all the Kongs and their own special abilities:

DK: Immediately jump to the turnbuckles, and eventually barrels will appear over
each one. Wait until K Rool plays it up for the crowd, and then blast yourself at
him.

Diddy: Dodge the gloves until the Diddy barrel appears. Then, fly up to the top of
the arena and shoot the targets on the lights so that they will fall on K Rool.

Lanky: Use Lanky’s long reach to hit the switches outside of the ring. Then throw
the barrel onto the mat.

Tiny: Hover over the shock waves, then use the Tiny barrel to shrink and enter K
Rool’s shoe. Shoot the first toe once, the second twice, the third three times, and
the fourth four times.

Chunky: Dodge the shadow of the invisible K Rool, then use the Chunky pads to cloak
yourself, and then use the Chunky barrel to become super buff Chunky. You can then
lay the final smackdown on K Rool.

SECRETS

As if all the small bananas, coins, large bananas, ammo, and other items that you
need to collect weren’t enough, there are even more objects that can be used to open
up secrets. These include some well-hidden fairies, Nintendo and Rare coins, and
blueprints for every character.

The Fairies
The fairies are the main key used to unlock secrets. These are usually hidden very
well, and you need to use the camera to snap a picture of them. Before you can take
pictures, you need to get the camera in the fairy-shaped stone building located in
the main hub. Simply use Tiny and shrink yourself to get into the building. Now
you're ready to go fairy hunting. Once captured on film, they will unlock secrets in
the "Mystery Menu". Some things only require a few fairies, while others will
require you to search out every single one in the game.

DK Theater
Requirements: 2 Fairies
Once you locate and photograph two fairies, you can access the DK Theater. As the
name implies, it allows you to view any of the cut-scenes in the game (including the
opening rap) over and over until you get sick of them.

DK Bonus Stages
Requirements: 6 Fairies
Once you locate both Rambi the rhino, and Enguarde the swordfish, you can access
bonus levels starring them with six fairy pictures.

The Original Donkey Kong in Mystery Menu
Requirements: 6 Fairies and the Nintendo Coin
To get the Nintendo coin that is required for unlimited play, you must first beat
the original Donkey Kong game. It is located in the Frantic Factory area, and you
will need to use a Gorilla-Grab to operate the lever. Once you beat all four stages,
play once more and finish it again to win the coin. When you shoot six fairy photos,
you will then be able to play the original Donkey Kong game from 1981 at any time
via the Mystery Menu.

Jetpac in Mystery Menu
Requirements: 6 Fairies and the Rareware Coin
To access the 1983 Rare game Jetpac in the Mystery Menu, you need six fairies and
the Rareware coin.

You get the Rare coin in a similar way in which you got the Nintendo coin. Collect
at least fifteen Banana Medals, then go see Cranky. He will let you play the game,
and if you score 5,000 points the Rareware coin will fall from the sky. Collect the
coin to unlock the game in the Mystery Menu.

Boss Battle
Requirements: 10 Fairies
Collect ten fairy pictures to unlock a mode where you can fight any boss that you
have already defeated in the game

Krusha in Multi-Player
Requirements: 15 Fairies
The big bad gator from previous DK games makes a cameo appearance in the multi-
player modes if you hunt down fifteen fairies.

Cheat Mode
Requirements: 20 Fairies
If you work hard and manage to collect every fairy hiding in this gargantuan game
you will be able to unlock the cheat mode. This allows you to have an infinite
supply off all the items that you collect in the game. That means, you will never
have to worry about running out of ammo again!

The Blueprints
The blueprints aren't as crucial to collect (for secrets) as the fairies, but if you
collect all 40 and return them to Snide, you will gain access to eight bonus levels.

Kremling Kosh: Kremling Kosh is basically Whack-a-Mole, but instead of moles you are
whacking Kremlings. The same rules apply, just shoot a melon when the Kremling pops
up.

Batty Barrel Bash: Although it has an unusual name, this is an easy game. It’s a
slot machine. Use A to spin the wheels, and then press A each time you wish to stop
one.

Beaver Bother: In this game, you must heard all the beavers into the hole in the
center of the barrel.

Searchlight Seek: Use your searchlight to spot a Klaptrap, then shoot it with a
melon.

Krazy Kong Klamor: In this shooting gallery, aim and shoot at the large banana. Be
sure to not hit the Kongs!

Peril Path Panic: This is another shooting gallery where you must shoot melons into
the mouths of the crocs so that they will not eat the fairies.

Big Bug Bash: This is a simple bonus level where you just have to swat the fly in
the barrel.

Teetering Turtle Trouble: This is yet another shooting gallery. This time, you must
shoot the snakes so that they will not drop the turtles.
