============================================================================= Versions [VER1] Version 1.51 - Got Chungarunga's name wrong the first time around. Since he is -the- major contributor to this FAQ, I had to straighten that out. Incredibly enough, Chungarunga managed to beat this game on the PS3 version without any kills. Go to the PS3 GTA4 boards (not the social ones) and search for crimeless. He has typed out all his strategies there, which I will verify work with the XBOX 360. Version 1.50 - Second version with these crime results at the end of the main storyline. I posted a theoretical minimum crime using Chungarunga's methods that he has used in the PS3 version in the Final Thoughts section. I quoted his methods and should be considered required reading if you are a purist for this challenge =] Further credit goes to Max_Power_9999 Which helped me with Bleed out for his call for backup solution, as well as Jamaican Heat for his car explosion method for killing targets without it counting against me. These methods undoubtedly will help serve future missions as well. Credit to LancetJades for pointing me in the right direction for the pacifist mission, as well as his contributions towards the community. Anyhoo, this version 1.50 ending stats: PEOPLE KILLED: 42 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 4 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 34 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 Specifically, the following missions were improved upon. Mission 4: Bleed Out - 2 less kills Mission 11: Jamaican Heat - 3 less kills Mission 12: Concrete Jungle - 1 less kill Mission 16: Final Destination - 1 less kill Mission 17: No Love Lost - 1 less kill Mission 21: Search and Delete - 1 less kill Mission 25: Out of the Closet - 1 less kill Mission 31: The Puerto Rican Connection - 2 less kills Mission 34: Deconstruction for Beginners - 1 less kill Mission 35: Ruff Rider - 1 less kill Mission 36: Undress to Kill - 2 less kills Mission 38: Call and Collect - 1 less kill Mission 45: Wrong is Right - 1 less kill Mission 48: Waste not Want Knots - 1 less kill Mission 55: No Way on the Subway - 1 less kill Mission 58: Union Drive - 2 less kills Mission 63: Babysitting - 2 less fires started Mission 65: Blood Brothers - 1 less kill Mission 67: Undertaker - 2 less stars attained Mission 69: Pegorino's Pride - 5 less kills Mission 72: Payback - 3 less kills, 2 less stars attained I also added a checklist for specific things you will need to complete each mission properly, such as a vehicle, weapon, and if you need Dwayne's ability. The general strategies section was updated and improved upon. ============================================================================= Version 1.00 - First version with these crime results at the end of the main storyline. PEOPLE KILLED: 72 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 4 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 36 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 ============================================================================= Forward [FOR1] So you've done everything there is to do in Liberty City. You've seen both endings, got that elusive %100, and have played multiplayer until your eyes bled. This challenge will make you rethink the most fundamental aspects of the game. The rules are pretty simple; basically don't do anything that would show up on the crime page in the stats category. You can't murder innocent people, you can't steal any vehicles, and you can't even tap people with your car. There will be instances where you are forced to kill somebody or attract the attention of the police due to the nature of the mission, and those will be addressed in this FAQ. This challenge is pretty much for the hardcore GTA4 player that could use a fresh perspective on the game, similar to a low level challenge for RPGs. The inspiration for this challenge came when I noticed that many people didn't die if I shot them just enough times and didn't get a headshot. I theorized that perhaps there was an achievement awarded if Niko didn't get too much blood on his hands - perhaps even an alternate ending. Pretty thin evidence, but I wanted to see how far I could push the envelope. Would it be possible to beat this game without committing any crime..' I had to know, so I picked up a controller and got to work. It ended up being one of the more rewarding challenges I have ever attempted. Prerequisites: You should have beaten this game at least once before attempting this challenge. IMPORTANT: I recommend attempting this challenge while meeting or beating the stats I post before reading the strategies and methods I used for any given mission. Hopefully this will generate unique ways to beat missions that I haven't considered. If you can beat a particular mission with less crime please E-mail me! I always give credit where credit is due. [email protected] Obviously this is about fun, however. If this is your first run I might recommend setting a goal. Less than seventy-five kills and forty-five stars is what I would recommend for a true beginner to this type of game. After the first run, try under fifty and less than thirty-six stars. You can attempt to replicate (or break, as Chungarunga did) the guide I have here, but if you haven't done this before... Well... Prepare for the challenge of your life. I'll post the stats you should have before proceeding to the next mission. Of course, you can do whatever you want, but the purpose of this challenge is to aim for the least amount of crime possible. ****** Overview on the important stats ***** [STA1] TIMES CHEATED: ALWAYS ZERO. NO CHEATING! PEOPLE KILLED: This is found under the 'general' category and should not be confused with kills since last save under the 'crimes' category. There will be times when Niko has to shed blood in order to progress. However, Niko can only kill when he absolutely has to. CARS STOLEN: Should remain at zero throughout the game. Storyline missions that require you to obtain certain cars don't count against this stat. If point a gun at somebody when they are in a car they will usually run away. If you take the car at this point the game will register it as a steal. BIKES STOLEN: Should remain at zero throughout the game. BOATS STOLEN: You will have to steal four of these to progress. HELICOPTERS STOLEN: You will steal one of this in one of the U. L. Paper missions. STARS ATTAINED: You will get quite a few of these but no more than thirty eight. PEOPLE RUN DOWN: Should remain at zero throughout the game. This stat goes up every time you touch somebody with a car you are in (including cabs). FIRES STARTED: One mission you will be required to blow up a helicopter, which results in two fires. CRIMINALS KILLED: Should remain at zero throughout the game. This is the stat used when you are hunting criminals with a police vehicle. Below the crimes I will list any prerequisites for the mission, such as a weapon or vehicle. ======================================================================= ***** General Strategies ***** MULTIPLE SAVES: TURN OFF AUTOSAVE FIRST. You don't want to accidentally ruin all your progress just because you tapped a pedestrian and the game autosaved. Keep about four or five save slots handy and alternating just in case you forgot to check your stats and accidentally saved with some unneeded crimes committed. Save often because you will be restarting often. GTA4 MAP: IGN has a user-made map that has all important locations, including road names. Works similar to googlemaps. Learn it. Love it. http://grandtheftauto.ign.com/maps/1/Liberty-City-Map PREVENTING VEHICLE CRIMES: Unless you're in a chase, drive slowly. If you hit somebody, it counts as a crime. No matter how lightly you touch someone it still counts against you in the 'people knocked down' category and we need to keep this at zero. Occasionally you'll notice someone diving out of the way, and you may think you tapped them, but this doesn't count against you. Make sure you check the stats page before you prematurely restart. You can hit cars mostly without consequence, but if you hit a police vehicle too hard you'll get some unwanted stars and be forced to restart (if the police weren't chasing you already). Sometimes you'll find people chasing you when you get into a car. If they grab onto the handle before you take off, you'll get hit with a 'people knocked over' crime which means you have to restart. You pretty much have to juke their AI to make sure this doesn't happen. You can run away and then run sprint back to your car, or you can jump over some barriers (like fences) which tricks them with a degree of reliability. Sometimes there will be people in front of you when you are in a hurry, and you will have to reverse in these situations. Hit the right analogue stick inward to see in your review window and adjust accordingly. If you get enough speed you can hit the handbrake and turn the wheel sharply to whip the car around while keeping its momentum. This is a good move to learn for this particular challenge, especially when people are running after your car. CABS: The easy way to travel. If you see a cab and are close enough to it you can tap the left shoulder button to hail the cab, and it will stop for you. You then hold the Y button (which will put you in the backseat instead of jacking it) to get in the cab. Any other people in the cab will get out for you (or you can toss them out without penalty. Be mindful if you are in the cab and it hits anybody, which will count as a 'people run down' crime and you will have to restart. This usually happens if you make the cabbie rush, so I recommend just skipping the sequence even though it costs more. You can set a waypoint and direct the cab driver there in addition to any preset location on the map. Once you reach your destination, it's usually best to hail the cab again before you trigger any cut scenes so it's ready for you. KILLING: Unfortunately there are some people you have to kill in order to progress. On certain missions, however, you can blast someone until they drop their weapon, but will still writhe around on the ground. This is easiest to do with a pistol or SMG, just don't go for a headshot. You can zoom in, especially with an assault rifle, by pushing in the right analog stick while targeting somebody. Incapacitating them in this way means you can complete some missions (or just get rid of somebody annoying) without jeopardizing Niko's conscience and getting unnecessary kills. When in a firefight, attempt to lock on and look around (lock cycling) to find out where your targets are. On some missions, however, you can't blast them to unconsciousness. You have a few options. If an enemy is on a ladder or next to a ledge, they will often fall off and die without it counting against you. Another option is to ram a car until it is on fire and then Park it next to a target and watch them explode. Lastly, sometimes you can call others to do the deed for you. Calling the police from your cell phone works, but calling backup from the police car is faster and more effective. Once you get Dwayne's special ability, calling him to get his friends to help you is the best option (although you can call the police as well.) Some people that you have to kill can be gunned to low health and then shoved into the pavement which causes their demise, yet doesn't count against you (this method doesn't work on everybody however). I was aware of this method for awhile, but some dudes on the PS3 boards (Chungarunga, Infernus, Infernodragon have coined the term "walking" them to death. Anytime you can't avoid killing someone, this guide will let you know who you absolutely must kill in order to progress. EXPLODING CAR METHOD: Some special notes about using wrecking a car to the point it is on fire in order to explode targets. There are four visual phases of car damage you can put your car through. You can ram into objects with a car until it has less than about %50 health left, at which point you will see a light gray smoke. After you ram a few more objects, you will see a thicker gray smoke from the hood. An accident or two later, you will see thick black smoke. Another couple of hits will put the car on fire, and six seconds later a couple more fires will appear on the car automatically. Six seconds after that it will explode. Here is a approximate chart. ~%50 damage: thin grey smoke ~%80 damage: thick gray smoke ~%90 damage: thick black smoke %100 damage: light fire More damage or six seconds later: more fire Twelve total seconds (or more damage): Boom. Note that it is possible to go from thick gray smoke directly to fire if you get into ram into an object at high speeds. OBTAINING CARS: Since stealing is not allowed, getting cars to drive by non- conventional methods is required. The easiest way to get cars is by doing story missions. Some cars are simply given to you, and you can save them. Another method is to point a gun at a car, and after the driver runs off, you can push that car with another car into one of your parking spots. A third method is to block traffic (by holding up cars with a gun) so other cars have to go around and drive through your parking place. When they are in the right position, hold that car up and when the driver leaves quickly save. If you aren't fast enough other cars will plow through and knock the car you want out of position. Be aware any cars obtained that you didn't 'own' previously will be considered stolen until you save and reload. Once you get Dwayne's special ability, you can call for reinforcements and take their car without it being considered stolen. However, sometimes two guys will run over to you instead of bringing a ride. It may be possible to call 911 and push a police car into a save spot with this method as well. If you need a police car, one of the main storyline missions near the beginning will provide you with some. The closest one is north a couple blocks from Roman's apartment on the left side of the street. Take one of your cars and nudge it into the parking area in front of Roman's apartment if you want it. Every so often it would behoove you to put a couple cars at your safe houses for future missions. It's a tedious procedural matter, but you will thank yourself later. Also, if your default save location should be the Middle Park East safe house, I've never run out of there without a few cabs going by. AMBULANCE: Some missions will involve extended firefights, such as Hostile Negation. You can dial for ambulances in these situations and they'll heal you for a somewhat hefty fee. BODY ARMOR: Any mission that puts you in a long firefight means you should get body armor and save first. ======================================================================= THE MAIN STORLYINE: The meat of the game and this FAQ. Before each mission your stats should match (or preferably be less than) the ones listed. Mission 1: The Cousins Bellic [ROM1] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 0 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no This is the easiest mission, but you may end up restarting this one a couple times. Basically you have to get used to the idea of not being able to hit people with your car, even if it's a light tap, because it will cause the people run down stat to go up. 'Run down' is probably not the most legal term for a crime, but if it's considered a crime on the stats page in GTA4, that's good enough for me. Get used to driving slower then you may be used to, and learn to avoid sidewalks. Not hitting people with your car may very well be the hardest part of this challenge, however if you stay on the road, the pedestrians generally don't get in your way. Once you make your way to Roman's 'mansion', check your stats to make sure you haven't killed anybody (on the general stats page) or committed any other crimes (on the crimes page). Make a habit of this before you save. It's also recommended that you should be allocating multiple slots to this challenge anyway. ======================================================================= Mission 2: It's your call [ROM2] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 0 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Alright, the second Roman mission is up at bat. If you're like me, your first inclination was to find the closest parked car and gun it to Roman's cab depot. Unfortunately, stealing even parked cars is still stealing (in most cases), and is reflected as such on the crimes page under statistics. You do have the option of taking a cab but be aware that you don't have much money at this point (and it's difficult to get money when you can't kill people whimsically). Additionally, if the cab driver hits someone it will count against you and you will have to restart. I suggest taking a brisk jog to Roman's, where you will shortly get his vehicle. This mission requires you to take Roman "The Janitor" to his gambling spot. Drive carefully and this should be an uneventful trip. When you get there you will learn how to use a cell phone (do they not have cell phones in Eastern Europe..') and after maybe thirty seconds some thugs will show up. Call Roman and get ready for your first Pacifist Niko chase. Once Roman climbs into his car you will start getting shot at. Ideally they won't take out one of your tires. They will stop shooting once you drive little more then two blocks away. The tough part of this mission is all the pedestrians go crazy when bullets start flying, and it makes them run around erratically. If there are people running in front of you, I suggest just stopping your car and waiting for them to run away, even if it means taking a few bullets. Niko is pretty tough, it's important not to panic and drive faster than you have to and then accidentally tapping some schmuck. A reminder: No matter how lightly you touch someone it still counts against you in the 'people knocked down' category and we need to keep this at zero. Occasionally you'll notice someone diving out of the way, and you may think you tapped them but this doesn't count. Make sure you check the stats page before you prematurely restart. Once you don't hear any more bullets it probably means you aren't being chased and you can slow down to a comfortable speed. Make your way back to Roman's apartment. Park his car in the designated parking area (there is a rectangular box on the street next to the sidewalk). You can keep up to two cars here that will stay put if you die, turn off your X-box or really anything. Check your stats to make sure there are no crimes and save - in a different slot preferably. ======================================================================= Mission 3: Three's a crowd [ROM3] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 0 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no This mission you are supposed to drive Malorie and her friend Michelle at Malorie's place, and then change your clothes. Leave Roman's car there and approach his cab station from the south on Iroqouis Avenue. Use this site if you need help with street names: http://grandtheftauto.ign.com/maps/1/Liberty-City-Map You should notice the 'friend' icon pop up on your minimap. Generally these are short encounters/missions that give you a few bucks here and there. This particular one requires no effort so walk up to the coked out dude (his name is Brian) and enjoy the berating you receive (and more importantly the $100). This encounter will probably triple your net worth at this point in the game. Continue jogging to Roman's cab depot. Once you are here, he'll direct you to pick up the girls and give you another one of his cars. Don't worry; the first car he gave you is still at his apartment. Drive carefully and pick up Malorie and Michelle. Once you drop them off, head over to the clothes icon, which thankfully is right next to the save point on this island. Park your new car in the designated parking place next to the first one, and sprint over to the clothes shop. First clothing item is free and is all that is required for this mission, so pick up whatever you fancy. I recommend saving your meager funds for things more important then clothes though... Like bullets and cab fair. Once your done, check your stats, then go save. ======================================================================= Mission 4: Bleed Out [ROM4] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 0 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: Police Vehicle WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no This mission initially starts out as a dating mission but you have the option of saving Roman instead of going on the date, which I recommend doing. If you decide to do the date first, skip down to Mission 5 and then come back up here after you complete that one. I think it's probably better to save Roman first because he will like you more, and you can call for free cabs if you get enough respect and he likes you. Roman won't give you the call to save him unless you get close to Michelle's, so hop into one of his cars, cruise over there, and when he calls you turn around (carefully!) and head back to his apartment. Technically you haven't started either mission yet, so park the car and save (after checking stats of course). UPDATE: It is possible to take out the two guys attacking Roman. Bring a police car to Roman's location (there is one north of his safe house that you can push into the parking place, remember to save and load when you get it into the right area). Make sure to drive the cruiser into the basketball court or it will vanish. After a short scene, turn around and sprint to the police car and drive it near the street. Use the left trigger to access the police terminal and call for police backup. Get out of the car and let the two guys attack you, and the police will blow them away. OBSOLETE: Even though the game advances 6 hours when you save/sleep, Roman is still getting a beat down. Jog over to his location. Here you are forced to kill two of Dardan's thugs. As far as I know you are forced to kill them, but you're doing it for your family so it's legit for the purposes of this challenge. These should be your first two kills. Dardan happens to be watching you and attempts to flee after you take out his two cronies. Hop into another one of Roman's cars and go after him. You don't have to floor it, and if you are going anywhere near top speed while trying to take a corner you are bound to hit somebody. It's generally good not to be extremely close to cars you are chasing anyway because they tend to make abrupt turns. You shouldn't have a gun at this point, but if you do don't shoot at his tires because it will make all the pedestrians go crazy. I also think this part is scripted so that it's impossible to kill him until the end of the chase. Furthermore, even if it is possible to kill him, if you wait until the end of the chase and cause him to fall into the water, it doesn't register as a kill. After you chase him to the sugar factory, disarm him and knife him until he crawls over to the window, then hit him one more time to get him to fall in the water. Personally I almost died on this mission because I forgot how to melee properly, so use the in game instructions to counter and disarm. I don't think it's possible to accidentally kill him before knocking him into the water, so don't concern yourself with that. UPDATE: Let Dardan stumble towards the window after you stab him a couple times, then when he stops hit him one more time and he will tumble into the water, which won't count against you. Once Dardan is finished, go back to Roman's car and drive carefully back to his cab depot. Roman will leave his car with you, so you can use it to drive back to his apartment. This will leave you with three of his cars for now, but be mindful you can only save two permanently. Check your stats and Save. ======================================================================= Mission 5: First Date [DAT1] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 0 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no This mission you are required to take Michelle out on a date. She has her own car but is kind of far away so you can take Roman's 3rd car or cab it over to Michelle's. Once there ditch Roman's car (or the cab) and drive her to the carnival. Since it's closed you then have to drive over to the bowling alley. There tend to be a lot of pedestrians in this area so be very careful, the horn can be useful here. Once you get close enough feel free to get out and run so you don't have to worry about hitting anybody, but remember where you parked as you need to keep Michelle's car for the ride back. Play bowling if you wish, you won't fail the mission if you quit right away. After you are done, go back to Michelle's car and drop her off at her place. She won't mind if you keep her car so you can keep it and replace one of Roman's cars or take a cab back to the apartment. I'm not certain which car is superior for driving, but eventually you are going to collect a couple police vehicles so don't sweat the decision too much. However way you get back to the apartment, check your stats and save. ======================================================================= Mission 6: Easy Fare [ROM5] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 0 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no The Roman missions will open back up at this point. You may also start getting calls from Roman to hang out, which you can do if you want to get his special ability to get a cab at any time. This mission you are asked to pick up one of Roman's 'regulars' Jermaine. You can bring one of your two cars, but if you decide to jog or take a cab there will be one given to you for this mission - Roman's fourth car for anybody who wasn't counting. Drive up to Jermaine and honk to get him in your car. This is a longer drive then usual so don't get distracted by the radio and accidentally hit somebody. He'll want you to take a trip to pick up some of his merchandise, so drive carefully to his spot. It'll turn out to be a sting and you'll get your first two stars on the crime page. This is an unavoidable and scripted event, but if anybody knows a bug or glitch feel free to E-mail me. Once the police chase is on, keep your cool and flee the immediate area. You can try to work your way to the spray shop or just gun it down a road. When fleeing the police, keep an eye on your minimap, it'll show you if a cop car spawns in front of you. When this happens, try turning onto another road or side alley, or simply stop if you are out of the other cops' site range. After that excitement, check and make sure you didn't hit anybody or commit any other crimes (other than the unavoidable two stars). Drop off Jermaine, and then head back to the apartment. On the way back you should get a call from Vlad demanding that you work for him to help repay Roman's dept. Save and take a deep breath, there is a lot of game to go. ======================================================================= Mission 7: Bull in a China Shop [VLA1] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Before starting this mission you'll notice Brian is back on Crockett Avenue, or south a block and to the West of the apartment. If you feel like getting a couple hundred bucks go to Brian and give him a ride to help feed his addiction. You have a couple of options at this point but Vlad is closer. Vlad will want you to teach a guy a lesson because he won't pay him money he feels he is owed. The game teaches you about cabs at this point, I recommend taking a cab since you should have a bit of cash by now. You should always be skipping the ride sequence so the cabbie doesn't hit anybody. You'll get to the shop and the game will point you to a few bricks. Pick a brick up and lob it at the window to the left of the entrance. Just like throwing a grenade more or less. If you miss go back and get another brick. Once you smash the window the guy will give you Vlad's money without incident. You'll notice you're pretty far from home (unless you brought one of Roman's cars or another ride) so run back south until you see a cab and hail it. Talk to Vlad if the mission isn't over, check your stats, then run across the street and save. Done and done. ======================================================================= Mission 8: Hung Out to Dry [VLA2] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided near the back door of the laundromat WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no "You see a cop, you don't know me." - Vlad "I see anybody I don't know you." - Niko. Hop over to Vlad's favorite bar and fire up another Get-Vlad's-Money mission. Jog or take a cab over to the laundromat. Before you go in, take a second to go around back and notice a couple cars next to a van. This is where the guy you are looking for is going to flee. More importantly, these cars can be stolen without it counting as a crime (check your stats to make sure!). Mark this area; it's below Gibson Street and directly under a highway. If you don't have two cars (or are tired of Roman's cars) feel free to grab the Blista or the Sentinel. Touching the van will cause the mission to fail as the owner will freak out and flee through the front. If you decide to take a car now this is actually good, because once you fail the mission you can save your game after taking a car. You can also keep one of the cars by starting the mission by entering the laundromat main entrance, and stealing on of those cars and just keeping it after the mission is over. Once you're done checking out the layout and perhaps grabbing a new car, go around to the front of the laundromat as indicated on your map. When you go in to confront the guy, he'll take off so sprint after him. Grab either car as it still shouldn't negatively effect your crime stats (check to make sure of course) and chase after him. Essentially just ram him until he stops and gives you money, its not as difficult as the police chase a couple missions ago. The only real challenge is hotwiring the car and getting the car out of the back lot before he gets too far away. You can probably get one of those cars in a good position to chase him before starting the chase scene if you are having trouble. Once you are done with that guy, drive back to your apartment, check your stats and save. ======================================================================= Mission 9: Clean Getaway [VLA3] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no The next Vlad mission is somwhat difficult to pull off without committing any crimes. First the game will teach you how to use the subway, and if you're like me this will be the last time you use it. Take the subway (you can skip the ride sequence) and jog down the stairs and across the street to the guy washing his car. Take note of a fence on your right as you approach and also of the other guy close to the car. The first guy will address you as you get closer and the game will teach you how to stun him. Look around and make sure there aren't any police walking around because if you hit him in their line of site you'll get an unwanted star. Once you feel safe stun the guy, and his buddy will start to attack you. Don't try and jack the car and drive off with him close to you because he'll grab the door handle and you'll get nailed with a 'people run down' crime. Instead, run back towards the fence and climb over the middle of it. The second guy should be momentarily baffled at your physical prowess and stand there for half a second and then decide to run around the fence to get to you. If he runs in an undesirable direction that won't allow you to shake him, simply hop the fence again. Sprint back to the car you are supposed to steal (which doesn't count against you again) and hop in. If you're lucky, the first guy's body may have vanished if you ran far enough away from it, if you're not lucky you will have to back up so you don't run him over. You are pretty far from home, so you should be extra careful because you don't want to have to restart this mission. Once you get the car to the designated lockup, take a cab back to Roman's apartment. Check your stats and save. ======================================================================= Mission 10: Ivan the not so Terrible [VLA4] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: Any WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no This is the last Vlad mission - or at least the last mission you are working for Vlad. It's also the toughest chase scene up to this point. Your directive is to kill some dude named Ivan. He's at Roman's cab depot, and you're going to need wheels for this one. Take one of your cars over there and he'll be on his way out in his car. You may have to take some chances as he seems a bit faster then the other chases. This also is a longer chase - almost two minutes long. Near the end of this there will be a lot of construction which means you may have to drive up on the sidewalk, but be very careful not to hit anybody. The horn may help here. Once you notice Ivan is out of the car he'll probably be halfway up the ladder onto some rooftops. Continue the chase (Y button climbs). If it seems like you hit a dead end, look for a ladder. You'll make some very cinematic jumps over the rooftops. They aren't too difficult; just make sure you jump a full step before you reach the edge to give Niko time to plant his legs. After maybe three jumps you'll have Ivan cornered and you'll have the option to kill him. Given the nature of this challenge, you should let him live. That should complete the mission; you can take some stairs down to street level or simply jump off. Whether you die or survive, take a cab to the apartment. You can try and make your way back to your car if you choose, but as long as you have one left you are in good shape. Check your stats to make sure you haven't committed any crimes. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 11: Jamaican Heat [JAC1] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no For this mission you are required by Roman to pick up Little Jacob. 'Pick up' being the operative phrase, you'll need a car, so hopefully you have one left. UPDATE: You can use Roman's cab at his depot, not considered a steal. UPDATE: Once you scoop up Jacob, he'll give you a piece. The next part is a bit tedious but necessary. Ram into mobile objects (such as other cars but not the police). If you smash into buildings your car may stop moving and you need it. Once the car is smoking be a smash it up a bit more until you see black smoke, then go to the yellow marker. If your car is on fire before you enter the marker it won't work and you'll be forced to restart. Once your car is smoking black and you go to the meeting, go to the designated watch point. Once the deal goes bad blast the three guys until they are near death. Now go back to your smoking car and smash it in the alley Austin Power's style until its on fire. Be careful not to leave the alley or Jacob will immediately die. Once the car is on fire, park it in the middle of the three enemies and sprint away. You have about ten seconds to do this which is enough time but not much room for error. Once they explode a guy will appear on the roof. Pop him once and watch him plummet. You shouldn't have any kills. OBSOLETE: One of them on the left tends to focus his shots on you so take him out first, Little Jacob is very durable. Kill the other two in any way you see fit. One more guy will appear on the roof after this, you can shoot him a couple times and he'll fall off but it won't register as a kill. Once that business is done take Little Jacob where he wants to go, although your car may have teleported from where you parked it to the entrance of the alley. Make your way back to the apartment, park your car, check your stats (you shouldn't have any kills) and save. You now have a gun to wave around, but even if you force someone out of their car by pointing a gun at them, if you get in and drive it the game will register it as a stolen car. You can, however push their car in your parking space or cause a traffic jam and point a gun at somebody who parked in front of one of your safe houses. If you save and load after that it is yours. ======================================================================= Mission 12: Concrete Jungle [JAC2] PEOPLE KILLED: 0 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no This one is a two-parter. Cab it over to Little Jacob's, and he'll give you the keys to his beamer. He'll direct you over to another deal. Be aware you have to kill seven(!) people this mission, but if Roman wants Niko to help Little Jacob, Niko will abide. He is a bit suspicious and directs you to a back alley in case the deal goes sour. UPDATE: It would appear one of these guys can be blasted down without getting killed. The guy on the stairs occasionally falls to his death, you can push him up or try and shoot him up the stairs first before tapping his leg. The police don't seem to do any damage, although it is probably possible to use the exploding car method on the first three guys that come out of the alley... The deal does indeed go sour, and three dudes will sprint out the back. Drive forward to get close (be careful not to hit them with your car) and hop out. It's easier to gun them down on foot, and for some reason it seems like shooting from your car attracts police attention more readily. They don't pose much of a threat but occasionally someone not involved in the mission will blast you with a submachine gun. Once those three are dead, go back to your car and grab Jacob. He's not too happy about the incident. He'll direct you to a house, drive carefully over there in case pedestrians are running around due to the gunfire. Once you're here, follow the in-game instructions to use cover. There are four guys, at least one has a shotty so don't run and gun it. Little Jacob doesn't really do any damage so don't count on him to get the blood off your hands. This should be a pretty easy firefight for someone who has beaten the game. After you take out all four guys, drop Jacob off with his crew. He won't mind if you keep his car. Go back to your apartment and park Jacob's car. Check your stats. You should have six kills at this point. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 13: Uncle Vlad [VLA5] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: pistol DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no "I'm looking for someone..." - Niko The Roman mission should be the only one available to you at this point. He suspects his girlfriend is cheating on him with Vlad, so Niko naturally wants to kill him. You can take a car up there if you like. Or don't, Roman has one of his many cabs in the garage. Either way you're going to be picking up some much nicer and faster cars from mission 14. Make sure you have Roman's car or one of your own before you go to Vlad's bar and have it face north. Once you step in there will be a cut scene and Vlad will run out the door. Ignore his goons and sprint after them. Vlad will be screeching off to the north by the time you go outside, so hurry into your car and chase him. If you aren't fast enough one of the two goons may latch onto your door handle before you drive off, which will result in that painful 'people run down' increase, which means a restart. A way to combat this is to keep open your car door before you step on the yellow beacon that leads into the bar, so you don't have to wait Niko's door opening animation. Once the chase is on you'll find yourself racing to catch up to Vlad, but don't panic. The chase will take about a minute, he is rather quick but pace your self and watch those pedestrians. Don't bother opening fire. He'll eventually drive near the water and you'll see a message at the bottom indicating Vlad is on foot. Approach and get out of your car. You are forced to execute him, but it won't increase your people killed stat. Just make sure you have a pistol and do the execution properly. I guess Vlad doesn't count as a person. Give Roman a ride back and then go to your apartment. Check the relevant stats and save. ======================================================================= Mission 14: Crime and Punishment [FAU1] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: cop car - provided WEAPONS: no DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no This mission begins as a Roman mission, but you are actually going to do a job for Mr. Faustin. Meet up with Roman any way you choose, if you bring a car you will lose it but don't worry, we'll be getting some better ones soon. After you get knocked out and Roman takes a bullet, you'll find yourself in front of Mr. Faustin's house on the southeastern portion of this island. You need to find a police vehicle in order to pull over the vans, and the game pretty much delivers it to you on a silver platter. Listen for the sound of sirens and sprint to the north. A policeman will park haphazardly and sprint off into the distance. You can nab his car without it being reflected as a crime. Heck, even the coders of GTA4 consider the police car as more of a present rather than theft. UPDATE: Or you can just push the police car that is north of Roman's apartment into his spot if you need a cop car in the future. Once you get the police car Dimitri will call you and you'll see some dots on your map, which represent the vans you are supposed to pull over. Ignore them and drive to Roman's apartment and park the police car, there are some missions that require you to access the police database. Even though the call from Dimitri implies that this is a time mission, you'll notice this is not the case. Since you need to keep the police car that you got, you have to get yourself killed. I ran around in traffic for a couple minutes, but maybe drowning or picking a fight is faster. Just remember not to commit any crimes. If you use the traffic method, once a car hits you sprint in front of it for approximately five seconds then double back, and it should knock you on your ass again. Once you get yourself killed, take a cab from the hospital to your apartment and save (after checking your stats of course). Go back to Roman, restart the mission and grab a second police vehicle. Park it, kill yourself and save again. The third time around with the police car, go towards the closest van. Hit the left analogue stick inwards to use the sirens to pull it over. Once you find the right van the passenger will start blasting you with a pistol. Ignore him and hop in the driver's side of the van and take it to the lockup. Usually the gunman will be busy shooting you instead of chasing you and attempting to pull you out, but if you want to be super safe you can give him the runaround before driving away. After the van is in lockup you'll get some money which should mitigate the damage to your wallet from killing yourself (which shouldn't be much - Niko has some impressive health insurance). Grab a cab to your apartment and bask in the glory of having two nice police vehicles. Once you are done basking, check your stats to make sure you didn't mess up, and then save. ======================================================================= Mission 15: Do You Have Protection' [FAU2] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: no DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Take one of your cruisers over to Faustin's or grab a cab. This mission is easy but does require a lot of running around, sometimes cabs are hard to find but driving around usually takes longer and you run the risk of hitting somebody during the mission. Once you get there and After Mr. Faustin and Dimitri berate each others drug habits, you'll be charged with shaking down some associates at the porn shop. Follow Dimitri's directions and point the gun at the guy on the right, then the guy in the middle. Wait until you are directed to shoot the guy in the leg, and do so. (No assault with a deadly weapon crime according to GTA!) Dimitri will then want to take you shopping and shows you were the gun store is at. Consider buying body armor, and then pick up the submachine gun. After he buys a submachine gun for you, make your way back to Faustin's by your preferred method of travel. Four-hundred dollars later, you'll have the option of going to Mr. Faustin's club or working with Little Jacob again. Faustin's club is closer, but before we get ahead of ourselves let's go back to the apartment, check the usual stats and save. ======================================================================= Mission 16: Final Destination [FAU3] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no UPDATE: You can pass this mission without killing Petrovic's son. After you accept the mission for Faustin, take a cab to the northern island. Your target will be to your south up a set of stairs on your right, but don't climb those stairs. Make Niko run south past that set of stairs and locate a different set of stairs on your left. They ascend towards the north so if you may run past them. UPDATE: Once you reach the top, there will be a cut scene and Petrovic's sun will take off down the stairs on the opposite side of the tracks. Wait for the trains to pass by and sprint after him. Ignore the guy with the submachine gun, it is unlikely he will kill you. Follow your target down the stairs, and when he goes down the alley to the left look across from it and you will see a Vincent waiting for you. Get in the car; it won't count as a steal. Go after the target and ram him until his car goes on fire and he will die. Two details to consider: Don't flip over the car or your Lenny will get out and run, which makes your job much harder - the second detail being he may go past a toll which you must slow down and pay as to not attract police attention. If your target hops out and goes on foot, you can try to ram into things until your car is on fire and have it blow up next to him. UPDATE: When it's all down you have the option to leave your new found car at a future safe house on the Northern Island which is on Joliet Avenue. Either way, take a cab home and make sure you don't have any new crimes, and then save. OBSOLETE: This mission takes some pretty quick moves so get your game face on. Jog over to Faustin's club or take a cab. Don't take one of your cruisers because it will vanish after the cut scene in the club (UPDATE: It actually just gets moved across the street. After Dimitri and Faustin get into another lover's spat, you will directed to kill a spy named Lenny that is mostly the product of Faustin's imagination. You'll be directed to the subway station on Guantanamo Avenue in South Boham, which is now open to you. Grab a cab; you don't want to make this drive because the mission is pretty easy to fail. There will be an automated call to Faustin that you can interrupt without penalty. Turn to the south and you should see some stairs leading up on the right sidewalk. DON'T go up this set of stairs, instead run past them and locate the other set of stairs on the left side. Walk by them and turn around and go up these stairs while readying a firearm of your choice. The submachine gun Dimitri bought you is a great option here. You can spot Lenny and take aim at him, he is the guy on the right, but a cut scene will initiate before you can shoot him. OBSOLETE: After this scene some trains will fly into your vision and you have to cross over immediately. Lenny's buddy will also start blasting you with a submachine gun, but do not fire back because you'll lose Lenny and you'll get police attention if you do. Focus on Lenny and chase him down the stairs - jumping down the stairs tends to be a little faster even with Niko's rolling animation. There should be a big enough window of time where you get close to the bottom of the steps but before Lenny turns a corner to his car where you can at least get a bullet in him. If you can get one bullet it will cause him to collapse and you can finish him as you see fit. If you fire too soon from the subway platform usually the police will hear the shot. OBSOLETE: The reason you approach from the other side of the platform is because the trains get out of the way faster and Lenny's car is farther away from which gives you a much easier time of taking him out. The dialogue also seems to be wittier during the cut scene as well. Note that you now have 13 kills for taking out Lenny. C'est la vie. You'll get a disturbing call about messing with the wrong guy who you deal with later, Mr. Petrovic. Roman should also send you a text requesting your presence at this point. Snag a cab back to Roman's apartment, make sure you didn't do anything worse then killing Lenny, and save. ======================================================================= Mission 17: No Love Lost [FAU4] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: Yes, preferably a fast one WEAPONS: Yes DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no UPDATE: This mission can be completed without any new crimes. Armor will probably help on this mission. Take a car over to Faustin's, one of your cruisers would be a good idea since they are fast. Once you accept the mission to kill his daughter's boyfriend, drive over to Firefly Island. Once the Lost member takes off, run PAST the bike and get into the car you brought which will be on your right past the building. Chase after him but run into him or shoot at him. If you have a slow car you may need to be good with the brake handle to keep up with him. UPDATE: After about a minute he's buddies will appear. Follow them into the wooded area and blast all but the shotgun guy (your target) into submission. Once all but the boyfriend is incapacitated, drive away a bit and shoot up your car until it smokes black (note that shooting it too much means you will have caused a fire, which is a crime, and will force you to restart). After the car is smoking, drive up to your target until you are about eight car lengths away and let him blast your car until it is on fire. Park close to him and watch him combust. You may die if you lost too much health, which is why armor is always a good idea. If you accidentally gunned him down but didn't kill him, you can shoot the car you brought up until it is smoking then pack into the cement pillars supporting the highway until it goes on fire, then put it next to the boyfriend and watch him explode. That method is actually preferable if you have low health. OBSOLETE: Before this mission, make sure you have about 200 submachine gun bullets, and save once you do. Shouldn't cost you more then $400 to get the ammo. Cab it back to Faustin's house. Faustin will assign you the task of finding his daughter while Dimitri is mysteriously absent. Take a cab to Firefly Island (or just run there if you can't find one, Faustin lives in a very remote area). OBSOLETE: This mission is going to take a lot of skill and luck. Once the mission starts immediately get on the bike and gun it forward and turn right. You should be almost parallel to the biker before he turns right and takes off. Ideally you will be close enough to blast him quite a bit on this straightaway. It takes about 35-45 direct hits to knock this dude off, and most of those shots should happen on this straightaway. After that it's a crapshoot, as he will start weaving around and traffic will take a lot of your attention. There is a scripted event where a car will swing in and almost hit the biker shortly after the straightaway, and if you are too close (which is almost impossible) you will run into this car, so swerve around to the left of it. If you put enough bullets in him previously, there is another small straightaway where you can concentrate plugging more bullets into him. He can be killed at this point, but you have about twenty more seconds to kill him if you don't. After a certain amount of time goes by a lot of his friends will show up on bikes, which results in unnecessary bloodshed. Restart if this happens, one kill is ideal, which should put you at 14. UPDATE: No new crimes! Good. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 18: Logging on [BRU1] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no You should have Roman and Jacob missions available to you at this point. Head over to Roman's with your preferred method of travel. This is probably the second-easiest mission of the game, simply jog over (or take your vehicle) to the internet cafe and follow the directions. This should open up Mikhail Faustin's mission thread again. You will also be able to steal cars for Brucie, which is a heinous crime. Head back to the apartment first, check your stats and save. ======================================================================= Mission 19: Rigged To Blow [FAU5] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Mr. Faustin's missions should be available to you again. Take a cab over there, this mission requires you to use a certain vehicle. After a deep chat with his wife, Mikhail and Dimitri will arrive. You will be instructed to obtain Mikhail's truck. Cab it over there. Once you grab the truck (not considered a stolen vehicle) you'll be instructed to take it to the northern island and that it is rigged with explosives. Driving carefully shouldn't be a problem for you at this point even though it is a rather clunky vehicle. Remember to SLOW DOWN and pay the toll or else you'll get slapped with some unwanted stars and you will have to restart. Park the truck in the garage and detonate it. You won't be responsible for 'starting a fire' or any other crime in this cut scene. After the explosion, quickly book it out of there by running south, the opposite direction of the fire trucks. I believe if you hang around the fireman will call the police on you. Once you get out of a certain range, you will be rewarded with $700. Take a cab to the safe house, check your stats (no new crimes), and save. ======================================================================= Mission 20: The Master and the Molotov [DIM1] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: pistol DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no At some point soon (if it hasn't happened already) you will get a text from Dimitri imploring you to have a chat, as well as Roman opening up the Brucie missions for you. Jog over to Dimitri. Due to the mission where you killed Petrovic's son, you are tricked into killing Mikhail Faustin. You'll need a pistol for this mission so grab one if you don't have one or ran out of ammo for some reason. Cab it over to Mr. Faustin's club. You will get a text. Dimitri will leave you with some body armor to help with the mission on the side of the club (to the right of the entrance - if you read the text message it will show up on your map.) You can head into the club through the front or you can go around the back and survey the exit that Mikhail will eventually run through. Try to memorize this route and take note of the stairs. Once you are satisfied, strut over to Mikhail Faustin and ready your pistol. This mission may take a few tries, but if you have gotten to this point with the above stats, you can definitely complete it. After a few words about Dimitri's and Faustin's character flaws, he will get up and run away while his henchmen attempt to fistfight you. Ignore them and sprint after Mr. Faustin. When you get close to him he'll direct his men to start blasting you, and they will from all angles. Do not shoot them and keep sprinting after Mr. Faustin. You should tend to run into these guys instead of around them. Running into them usually stuns them temporarily so they don't shoot in you in the back as much. Be aware, however, that if you stand next to them too long they will hit you with their guns and that directly affects your health, bypassing your body armor. Anytime you have to run up stairs, jumping up them is generally quicker. There will be one particular guy in the way of the stairs outside, but if you don't panic you can squeeze by him without too much trouble. With the body armor and full health, you should be able to get to the landing on the roof with perhaps a fourth of your health left. Resist the urge to start blasting Mr. Faustin immediately, and calmly walk up to him with your pistol. He won't fire at you, so get close, take aim, and you will execute him, which does not count against your kill total. If you kill him any other way he'll end up being your fifteenth kill, which we do not want. After he is dead his 'loyal henchmen' will vanish. Get down however you please; suicide is an option if you can't find an efficient way down. Take a cab to Roman's apartment and check your stats to make sure everything is kosher. Save and enjoy the feeling of beating one of the tougher missions to date. ======================================================================= Mission 21: Search and Delete [BRU2] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: Police car WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Remember those police cars you stole earlier? Here is a mission that requires you to have one. Take a police car over to Brucie's. He'll tell you to whack someone who intends to testify. Get back in your police car and after the call to Brucie you'll receive instructions on how to track Lyle Rivas. After you follow the directions he'll be on your map. He is close but there are a lot of pedestrians in this area so drive carefully. Once you reach him he'll climb out the window and drive away and you will be in for about a three minute chase. Get back in your police car and chase him. You can turn on your sirens but I think it just makes the chase harder as cars tend to stop abruptly when they are aware of you. After getting within site of him, keep a leisurely distance. Lyle tends to hit other cars and trucks making their actions erratic, so you want plenty of time to react. There are a couple scripted events where Lyle will cause a truck to drop its contents, the most dangerous being the logs in the latter part of the chase. There will also be a toll booth that he flies through, don't worry about slowing down because you don't have to pay tolls (at least not this one) while you are in a police vehicle. Most of the chase is on highways so pedestrians aren't an issue until the end, where he'll slow down quite a bit. Hit him a few times and he'll go on foot. UPDATE: You can take out Lyle without it counting against you. When he hops out of his car punch him a few times (try to make sure there are no police are around) until he has a couple bars of health left. After that you can chase him into traffic until a car hits him or run into him a few times. He'll eventually trip and fall and not get back up, and the mission will be over. OBSOLETE: It is possible to blast him with your micro-SMG until the car is on fire, but he'll jump out and you have to kill him anyway. Causing a car fire is frowned upon in this challenge since it is a crime. After Lyle is dead, you'll get some decent money from Brucie. Take a cab back to your safe house and make sure there are no new crimes, and save. OBSOLETE: You may be inclined to take a cab back and save after this long chase, but it is recommended that you keep your cop car (you'll definitely need it if it's your last one). Get back into the cruiser, drive carefully back to the apartment check your stats - you should only have one more kill - and save. ======================================================================= Mission 22: Easy As Can Be [BRU3] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Back to Brucie, take a cab. He wants you to steal Lyle's ride. Not a problem, he won't be needing it. Grab another cab to Lyle's car. You'll find it in an alley, hop in. This car isn't considered stolen according to the crime stats. Once you are in you'll get surrounded by guys with cars and guns. Gun it forward and turn left. Slow down at this point, there is a guy on a bike that tends to come from your left. Allow him to pass even if it means soaking a few bullets, because if you tap him off you'll get penalized with a 'person run down' on the crime stats page. The toughest part from here on out is avoiding the pedestrians. All the gun fire makes people panic and run around like chickens with their head cut off. Hopefully they won't hit one of your tires, if they do this mission is much tougher. Just drive carefully, speed only on the straight-aways. Once you get close enough to Brucie's garage, they will stop chasing you. Park it and enjoy the $3500 that you get. Find another cab or sprint back to the apartment. Check your stats and save. ======================================================================= Mission 23: Shadow [JAC3] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: yes - any (pistol given to you at the targets apartment) DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no The only missions available to you should be Little Jacob's. Cab it over to his crib. After almost taking a knife from Badman, he will instruct you to go to South Bohan and take care of another dealer, seen' Take a cab over there. You'll know who it is because he is very loud about his drug operations. Follow him slowly (walk, don't run). It actually is better to stay out of his line of site altogether, if you are too close Roman will call you and he'll start sprinting away. If this happens, sprint after him, you can use your GPS mini map if you lose track of him. Either way he will eventually jump a fence and head into an apartment building and go upstairs. After four or five floors, you will be instructed to take out the dealer and his suppliers. Do so, the cover system helps here. You can also shoot doors open if you are not comfortable running into a room. It is possible to blast these guys without killing them so use a pistol. Once their weapon is dropped - you can tell by the red glow - stop targeting that person and drop somebody else. After they are all incapacitated, Little Jacob will give you $250 - a mere pittance for getting in a firefight compared to what you just made by stealing a car. The game may implore you to call Dimitri at this point, but don't. Go back outside or (jump off the roof if you don't mind spending money on medical bills). Grab a cab back home, check your stats to make sure no crimes were committed, and save as usual. ======================================================================= Mission 24: Russian Revolution [DIM2] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 2 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no This mission will test your mettle. Before you call Dimitri, go to the gun store and buy some SMG ammo until you have at least 400 bullets, as well as some body armor. After saving, call Dimitri and he will want to meet up at a warehouse to give you some money. Little Jacob is in the know and will want to back you up. Take a cab and meet up with him at the warehouse. After Dimitri betrays you with a character named Bulgarin from Niko's past, a firefight will ensue. Little Jacob will draw fire but other then that he won't help much. You will start behind cover which is good; your enemies tend to run back and forth but won't approach you. There is some body armor in front of you. Use your SMG to take down Dimitri's men, but fire very carefully so you don't kill them. Basically, use the auto-aim feature to lock on to them, but you can still use the left analog stick to influence your shots. Don't aim for their head. Despite all the red dots on your map, you don't actually have to incapacitate all of them. When you make your way to the other side of the warehouse, the police will arrive. Ignore any remaining henchman (you may take a few bullets but you should still have most of your health) and locate Little Jacob's red Virgo on the right after you exit. It's pretty easy to find, it's the only non-police car in the vicinity. Get in and Jacob will follow. You will be taking some shots from the police, but your main concern will be not hitting any of them with Little Jacob's car. As long as you have a decent amount of health, you can take your time as the police will be focused on shooting you instead of pulling you out of the car. Navigate your way out of the police car mess and don't bother shooting back at anybody. Once you are no longer wanted, take Jacob back home. Roman may call you but don't answer if you can help it. Instead, go back to his apartment. Check your stats; you should have two more stars attained but nothing else. Ignore calls from Roman until you save. After you talk to Roman he'll give you directions to his location. Cab it over and after you let him out of the trunk, take cabs to his apartment, cab depot and his girlfriend's place. Don't worry about your police cruisers; they will still be there even though his apartment is burnt down. Check your stats again and save at your new crib. You can now save two more cars in addition to the cruiser's you have at Roman's old apartment. ======================================================================= Mission 25: Out of the Closet [BRU4] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 4 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Take a cab to Brucie's. Lyle's cousin is trying to snuff out Brucie, so you have to clean up another mess. Brucie usually pays well so no big deal. Find a cab and take it to the internet cafe. After setting up a date with French Tom, cab it back to your new place and check stats/save. After a few in-game hours pass, Roman should text you telling you to go online. You can speed this process up by going to a safe house and sleeping to advance the game time. After Roman texts you, cab it back to the internet cafe. Your date will be at the 69th street diner in five hours. Don't go back to sleep because you will be too late, just wait around and you'll be notified of your date a couple hours before it happens. Head over to the 69th street diner when you get this notice, he'll be there. UPDATE: You can take out French Tom without it counting against you. After he runs away, chase after him. Knock him over and punch/kick him until he has one bar of health left. Now run into him repeatedly until falls over and doesn't get up. He'll be dead and it won't effect your kill count. OBSOLETE: After a brief (if you choose) chat, you can kill French Tom. Do so and you'll note that you have 16 kills. Some people may decide to jump in and attack you but ignore them. The shots may make it hard to find a cab so just run until they stop chasing. Cab it back to your new spot and save. ======================================================================= Mission 26: No. 1 [BRU5] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 4 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Snag a cab to Brucie's. He wants you to race some people because you guys are such big winners. Take a cab to the sports car. If you want, you can take the sports car to your new save point and restart the mission by killing yourself like you did with the police cruisers. Head over to the race. It should be a peace of cake for a "stone cold red army killer" such as your self. Don't mess around with the handbrake at all at high speeds, and slow down more then you think is necessary for the turns. You can also easily spin out cars in front of you by veering into their rear tires but it's probably not worth it. Even if you are behind for most of the race, there are a couple of straight-aways near the end where you can easily surpass any cars in front of you. After you win, take Brucie back to his spot. You get to keep the sports car, or you can add to the one you took previously if you were so inclined. Take your comet back to the new safe house. Check the pertinent stats and save. ======================================================================= Mission 27: Escuela of the Streets [MAN1] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 4 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: any WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Take your new car over to Mallorie's friend Manny. He wants you to help clean up the streets. Your car may teleport a short distance so if its not where you left it just look around. Drive to the designated point, and follow the dealer at a safe distance. Be aware he will stop at red lights so follow slowly and keep your distance when he turns. He'll drive in a roundabout way to a compound. When you get there you will lose your Comet, which you can't do anything about unfortunately. You can blast the lock or shoot the window to get in. The door seems to be minutely better for the ensuing battle. Once you enter you will have to deal with about ten dudes with various weapons - no assault rifles yet though. Body armor helps here but there is some health in the room to the left (or the room you are standing in if you went through the window). Shooting the door then shooting the dealers is better than running in; they have micro SMGs which can do a lot of damage quickly. Basically aim for their limbs. Some of them like to blind fire so your aim needs to be sharp. Crouch and shoot single shots from the pistol or micro SMG for best results. Take your time and aim carefully, they won't rush you. Plug them one bullet at a time until you see their weapon dropped (which is surrounded by a reddish hue). This may take a few tries which is exacerbated by the long follow sequence, but if you completed the Dimitri shootout a few missions ago you can complete this one. Check your stats after each guy you down to make sure you didn't kill him. At the end of the compound there is a soda machine if you need health, but you will have already killed most of your enemies at this point. Once you dropped everybody, shoot the lock on the door in the front and go back to the safe house. Do the usual, check your stats and save. No new crimes should have been committed. ======================================================================= Mission 28: Street Sweeper [MAN2] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 4 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: any WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Head over to Manny's with a vehicle. This mission isn't cake but it's significantly easier than the previous one. Grab one of your cars, preferably not a cruiser. If you need more cars use one of the strategies outlined at the beginning of this guide. This mission you are required to clean out a few more drug peddlers. When you arrive to the scene (with a car, don't cab it) you can get out a gun of your choice and position yourself favorably. They usually won't react until you start shooting. A couple of them will drive off but you have a good twenty five seconds to incapacitate everyone else before they drive too far away. Do what you did last mission; shoot while avoiding their heads and without plugging them with more bullets than necessary. Once they are done get back in your car and chase the other two. Don't shoot them because they won't get out unless the car is going to explode (that's a crime buddy) and you are likely to attract police attention. Don't get too close either, the passenger will star blasting you and freak out the locals. After about another minute they'll get out. Get out and chase them. Usually there are a few police lurking around here, the safe way to dispose of them is with a melee weapon. Sprint into the closest guy to stun him then hit him a few times - no more than necessary. Repeat with the second guy, although be aware he may start firing at you if he runs to a certain point. UPDATE: You can also ram the car you are chasing until their car won't work, then blast them instead of running around the north island for a couple minutes. Watch out for the police. Go back home. Check stats. Save. The Elizabeta Torres missions will now be open to you. ======================================================================= Mission 29: Luck of the Irish [PAT1] PEOPLE KILLED: 6 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 4 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: provided to you (sniper) DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Niko will have a lot of blood on his hands after this mission. Head over to Elizabeta's and after all the introductions, head over to the building that Patrick McReary wants you to go to. Head up the stairs and get the sniper rifle to oversee the deal. Follow the directions and gun down all your enemies, don't worry about trying to shoot their limbs, just go for the kill. While it is possible to incapacitate people with a sniper rifle as opposed to killing them, this particular set of gangsters you are forced to kill. You can actually tag some of them with a SMG, but they'll still die as opposed to knocking them out. Two twists to an otherwise normal sniping initiation are that one of them will try to knife Patrick, and you have to kill him before Patrick dies. The last guy will attempt to hop into the van and drive off so you have to tag him before he does. After that bloodbath, take note of the eight more kills you have and head back home to save. ======================================================================= Mission 30: Blow Your Cover [PLA1] PEOPLE KILLED: 14 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 4 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no This mission is difficult. Head over to Elizabeta's. You'll be introduced to Playboy X and another guy where you are assigned to another drug deal that is actually a sting. Take a cab for the trek south. Once you arrive at the apartments you'll notice an automatic shotgun. Usually you can blast somebody once with this and take them down without killing them, but if you want to be safe use a SMG and go for limb shots. You can sprint upstairs ahead of Playboy if you like. Once you meet up with the other guy, a firefight will ensue and SWAT will also make an appearance. All the cops, SWAT included, you can incapacitate instead of killed. You have to make your way to the roof, but you don't necessarily have to take down everybody. Sprinting past everyone is probably not a good option however, as you can't take all the SMG fire and you might accidentally ditch Playboy. The SWAT members have body armor so they'll take a few more bullets then you are used to in order to take them down. You can usually engage them from certain angles one at a time, so you can keep them stunned with your bullets to whittle away their body armor and health with your SMG. When you take down one SWAT member you can upgrade your micro-SMG to a better one. On your way up the first flight of stairs one SWAT member will roll into your view. Wait until he stands up straight before you shoot him or you may accidentally get a headshot. Keep your gun trained around the corners and up stairs as you walk. Sometimes Playboy will go in front of you and draw fire, which is good since he can't die. He won't really help you shoot anybody else however. Once you make it to the roof there will be some health in front of you and some SWAT members firing from cover. You can attempt to aim for their hands or simply walk around and shoot their legs. Be aware when you seemingly clean them all out, more will come up the stairs in front of you. After you clean out the rooftops, head back downstairs. You will run into some body armor along the way so keep an eye out for it. Your ammo situation should be fine if you are picking up the guns that SWAT leaves behind. Before you head downstairs in the adjacent apartments, you'll get two stars (but the game won't acknowledge them as a crime until you actually leave the apartment). SWAT members will stop showing up on your radar but you still have to take out a couple more on the way down, so don't let them take you by surprise. Once you get outside, you have a few options to evade the police. Directly to your left is a bike you can grab, or you can run around to the entrance you used to get into the apartments and grab the SWAT team's enforcer. You also have the option of evading the police on foot which will probably take awhile, but may be necessary if you have extremely low health and can't take the fire while grabbing a vehicle and waiting for Playboy. If you do decide to escape on foot, remember that alleys and parks are your friends. No matter what you choose, keep an eye on your GPS so you can adjust when more police spawn. The best solution is probably to take the bike, ride it to the enforcer and lose the police after that. Once the police are evaded take a cab (or drive your enforcer) to the safe house. Check your stats, the only new crime should be two more stars attained. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 31: The Puerto Rican Connection [MAN3] PEOPLE KILLED: 14 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 6 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: Police Vehicle WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Head over to Manny's with one of your cars. After he stops complaining about being a metrosexual, cruise over to the designated area. You have to follow a train. Most of it is pretty easy, just keep your eye out for pedestrians and don't deviate from the road. When the train circles back to the north, there is a tricky part where it'll keep heading north but if you try to follow directly under it you will get owned by a dead-end in an alley. Go to the right at this juncture, then left again and the target will get off shortly. When your targets reach the stop, you will notice stairs that lead up on your right just under the targets, but they will be heading downstairs. Locate one of the sets of stairs to your right and intercept them. If you wait too long they will pile into a car and you will have to chase them down. If this happens it is more than likely the police will intervene in the ensuing firefight, which means a restart. Assuming you take them where the train stops, two will open fire when they see you while one of them sprints downstairs to the car. UPDATE: put your cruiser in a place where you can get back to it easily. Blast all the targets until they are at low health, then run back to the cop car and call for backup. Two of the guys will fire at you and one will run away. Let the police kill the two guys, then drive to the last guy who is fleeing and gun him down your self (don't let the police see you. He is very fast - thanks for perpetuating a stereotype Rockstar! You should have one more kill after this mission. OBSOLETE: Take him down first before dealing with the other two. In this mission you have to kill all three of them, so don't worry about trying to limb-shot them to unconsciousness When it's all said and done, cab it back to the apartment, check your stats (you should be at 15 kills, no other crimes) and save. ======================================================================= Mission 32: The Snow Storm [ELI1] PEOPLE KILLED: 15 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 6 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: any WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Soon you'll get a message from a mystery guy, Elizabeta will call you requesting your help, and Playboy X will also want your services. Grab a car and head over to Elizabeta's first since she is closest. She's pissed that some dudes Little Jacob set her up with ripped her off and stole her coke. It's a pain but it's worth it to bring a car over to the abandoned hospital. Do not drive onto the yellow arrow but just follow the body of water onto the grass next to the fence. Position your car so it's facing the parking lot before you get out. Gather your wits; this is your newest toughest mission yet. UPDATE: It may be a good idea to set a waypoint where your car is so you can find it easier later. There will be many red dots, this is a tough mission. You do have the element of surprise however; you can start blasting some of the guys outside or simply sprint to the southern end of the hospital. Locate the ladder and climb up. There will be a couple of guys that will start firing, but hit them each once and they'll fall over. Be very careful not to shoot the second guy in the head because he likes to blind fire. You can actually ignore him if you like. Drop down off the roof after disabling anybody within your line of site on the ground - be careful not to hit any explosive canisters. When you get to the ground, follow the perimeter of the compound clockwise and you'll quickly find a room with two enemies. The leftmost one has a pistol and is harder to hit so drop the right guy first. After they are taken care of grab the body armor in the center of the room and grab the bag of coke. After you call Elizabeta, the police will arrive and you can't leave the same way you came. A few law enforcement agents will start firing at the remaining cokeheads, and a couple will probably be directly in your path to the exit in the north. Drop a couple of them with your SMG. After the corridor to north is clear, sprint north until you see a wall and turn right to exit. There is more body armor before the exit but you are more likely to take hits seeking it out. Keep heading to the right and find the break in the fence, then turn left to the north and sprint to where you parked your car. Once you exit you'll have three stars on you, and there will be quite a few police between you and the bridge back to the main island to the west. Unfortunately that's the only way out so I hope you have enough health to plow through any blockades on the bridge and make your way to the Pay and Spray or just evade the police the old fashioned way. Little Jacob will call you after the police stop chasing so drive or take a cab to his location. Michelle will betray you while lamenting her actions. You'll still get $2500 for your efforts from... somebody. Jog over to your apartment and check your stats. You should have three more stars - nine total, but no additional crimes. ======================================================================= Mission 33: Have a Heart [ELI2] PEOPLE KILLED: 15 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 9 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Elizabeta will have a mission for you at this point, which will be the last one from her. Don't forget to check your stats! ======================================================================= Mission 34: Deconstruction for Beginners [PLA2] PEOPLE KILLED: 15 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 9 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: sniper (provided) DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no "What motivates you'" - playboy "I'm looking for someone." - Niko Get some body armor and save before this mission, you will probably have to restart quite a bit in what is the hardest mission to date. Don't worry about ammo. You'll ultimately be forced to kill three foremen, but the rest of the workers you can incapacitate. Take a cab and you'll meet Dwayne, while Playboy informs you of his plight. Your mission is to stop the construction site by killing a few people. Take a cab to the construction site and enter the van to get the assault rifle (with a lot of ammo!) and sniper rifle. Take the window washing elevator next to the van to the roof. Snipe all the targets by lining yourself up with the spotters on your GPS and zoom in. They'll be standing on the edges of the cranes. Pop them one by one - they shouldn't die from the bullet - and enemies who fall to their death don't count against you (Remember, gravity killed them!). Take a window/elevator down and jump in the black van where you got the weapons. Drive west and go around the construction site until the first foreman is directly to the east of you. You may have some heat on you so listen for bullets being fired; if so incapacitate anybody close with your rifle. Crouching increases accuracy which makes it unlikely you will head shot anybody. Either way, make sure you still have the sniper equipped still and jump onto the hood of the van. The red dot indicating the foreman should be on the same level as you. Kill him. You have the option of incapacitating anybody running at you or you can sprint up the ramp to the next foreman. UPDATE: For some reason if you get the second foreman down to one life bar by blasting him in the gut with an assault rifle, he seems to bleed to death. It's difficult to reproduce but definitely possible. If you do run up the ramp immediately, a quick cut scene informing you of the use of grenades will occur and anybody that was chasing you below will vanish, but you will be surrounded by about six other construction guys and a foreman. If you cancel the cut scene quick enough you'll keep your assault rifle equipped instead of the grenades, which is much more conducive to sedating the construction guys as opposed to blowing them up. Stay behind cover and pick them off one by one. Around your tenth attempt for this mission you will probably be adept enough to have most of your health if not some body armor at this point. After the second foreman is killed (no choice), move towards the third one. Focus on taking down the two men accompanying him first, but DO NOT kill the third foreman. After that, make your way towards the foreman but try to stay behind some cover. He should shuffle around behind some construction stuff as you approach, giving you clear shots to the guys to your east. Continue to use cover and disable them as you see fit. You may have to abandon your cover to take out a couple of the ones that only blind fire. You are almost out of the woods and a headshot would be catastrophic. As you progress (the third foreman should be almost out of range but may still be taking potshots at you) you will see some health on your right, or to the south. A couple more guys that are a bit more dangerous - they have assault rifles - will separate you from an important ledge. Once everybody is cleared out, jog back a little bit until you can get a clear shot at the third foreman with your sniper rifle. After you kill him, immediately sprint back to the ledge and locate the final foreman climbing a ladder. More enemies will be coming at you that are dropped off from a helicopter, but ignore them. The last foreman should be halfway up but if he isn't then wait a second or two then pop him. He'll fall to his death and it won't count against you, making you three kills deep for this mission. You can jump down and you'll stop getting shot at soon, but it doesn't really matter if you die. In either scenario, cap it back to your apartment and check your stats. You should have two more kills from killing the first and third foreman (the second one you can make bleed to death and the fourth you can knock off the ladder). Save. ======================================================================= Mission 35: Ruff Rider [DWA1] PEOPLE KILLED: 17 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 9 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: bike (provided) WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Playboy will call soon asking you to help Dwayne. So now, Playboy and the mystery man should be available to you at this point. Take a cab over to Dwayne's. He'll let you know how his girlfriend and the guy who snitched on him took his money. Cab it down to the arcade, if you bring a car it will vanish after the cut scene. You can execute the girl if you want, but although it doesn't seem to fit pacifist Niko. Locate the bike behind you and chase down the snitch, you may have to go fast early to catch up. The bike you grabbed won't count against you. Prepare for a long chase, don't follow too close. Other cars tend to swerve out of the way, and he can turn abruptly, both of which you will need time to react to. Around six minutes in he will start to break down and run into stuff. He'll eventually fly off his bike, don't drive into him. He'll stand up and walk around but will sprint if you leave him alone. UPDATE: When he falls of his bike, hop off yours and run after him - remember where your bike is. Run into him to stun him momentarily (or hopefully knock him over). Beat him into submission; be careful because he has an automatic. If you whiff you will take a lot of bullets. After he goes down, which usually happens when he has one or no blocks of life, things will get a little tricky. You have to go back to your bike. You need some room to work with, so line up from his body rolling around on the ground and back up so you can get some speed. Gun it towards his body but a couple seconds before your bike will run over him jump off. The jumping off animation takes a couple seconds so it is better to err on the side of caution and jump off sooner than you may think is necessary. After a few tries the bike will kill him, but it won't count as a person run down because you will have already hopped off the bike. No new crimes! OBSOLETE: Quickly look for some police and if you see any let him run off and chase him until its safe. After he's dead (31st kill) grab the money and take a cab to burger shot. When it's all said and done, check your stats. You shouldn't have any new crimes, save if that is the case. ======================================================================= Mission 36: Undress to Kill [DWA2] PEOPLE KILLED: 17 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 9 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: any WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no UPDATE: It is possible to kill two (or possibly three) of the bouncers without it counting against you in the stats. Before you activate the mission go to Playboy's apartment. Grab a car you have saved there (I used a police car) or his Patriot (looks like a hummer). Start the mission at Dwayne's. On your way to the strip club, run into a few things until there is black smoke coming from the hood of your car. After you reach the club, park in the back entrance which is on Leavenworth Avenue and Drill Street. Once your smoking car is secured near that exit, jog over to the front and enter the strip club without any weapons visible. Run past all the managers and patrons to the exit. The door will be locked, take out a gun and fire it once. The managers will flee away from you (towards the front entrance) and the rear entrance will now be unlocked. Go outside and into your smoking car. Drive to the front entrance and ram into one of the parked cars there until your vehicle is on fire. Now park next to their SUV that they are attempting to escape, and exit. With good timing and luck, you should get two of them with the ensuing explosion. One of them always seems to survive, so blast the straggler. OBSOLETE: Take a cab to Dwayne's. He'll start whining about his club being taken from him, so snag a cab over there. Don't have any weapons showing when you enter or you'll start getting shot at by a lot of bouncers. Once you enter, walk up to the first two guys and you'll get a red dot indicating one of the managers. Walk up to him and use a melee weapon to get rid of him (or else the others will flee and you'll have a mess of people shooting at you). Be aware that if he fires a shot it will also alert everybody to your presence, so killing him quickly is imperative. OBSOLETE: Once he has been discretely taken care of, move towards the back of the club. There will be a short couple of stairs up on the right, but locate the other manager on the left talking to the girl who can't pronounce his name properly. Once you located him, then move upstairs and find the final manager in the back room. Once you have them both on your GPS, walk over to the rail. Quickly take out your assault rifle and blast him to death. Be careful not to hit the stripper. You should be getting shot now but you should have enough time to sprint over to the final manager and kill him before he escapes. Sometimes he doesn't have time to get out of the room, but if he does manage to make it outside and to his car you're screwed since you don't have a car to chase him. Once all three are dead the bouncers may kill you but its okay, the mission is still complete. Take a cab from the club (or hospital) and go back to your safe house. Check your stats; you should have three one kill. Save. Playboy will call you or already have called and he'll pretty upset over the club shootout. NOTE: It is probable that you can get all three managers in their SUV before you explode your car next to them, negating the one and only kill. ======================================================================= Mission 37: Photo Shoot [PLA3] PEOPLE KILLED: 18 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 9 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Take a cab to Playboy's. The guy should be staring right at you but as long as you don't get too close it's easy to blow his brains out. If you do get too close his amigos will start firing at you while he takes off, and you'll have to run and gun him down. Niko seems to know this without introduction. Take a cab over to the viewpoint and call Francis. He'll give you the blackmailer's digits, so give him a call while walking down the stairs. Keep looking around for someone holding a cell phone. You can call him back if need be. Once you locate him, let him jog away for twenty seconds. Run into him to knock him over and punch him until he has a bar of life left. He is walkable, sprint into him repeatedly until he doesn't get back up, and he'll drop the evidence. OBSOLETE: After you locate him, let him run away a little bit first then kill him in any manner you see fit. Pick up the evidence he has and you'll get a couple of stars automatically. You probably won't have a car unless you decided not to take a cab, so you'll have to shake them on foot. If you let the blackmailer run away a little bit you should have some space between you and the police to work with. If they catch up (they probably will since the water is cornering you) don't sweat it, just sprint by them. Use your GPS to avoid running into more cops that spawn. Alleys are your friend. Once they police have been shaken, take a cab or sprint if your close enough) to Francis. $1000 dollars later the mission will be done, although money shouldn't be an issue ever again. Playboy may give you a call soon as well as Packie. Cab it back to your apartment and check your stats. You should still have 19 kills and 2 more stars attained, but nothing else. You should get a call from the lawyers soon to set up the meeting and maybe from Dwayne as well. Buy a nice suit, pants and shoes. The black loafers and obsidian suit worked for me. Take a cab back to your apartment and go save to pass some time for the meet tomorrow. Sleep again if need be to get closer to the right time for the meeting. On your way to the meeting it is imperative you ignore any calls from Mallorie or you will be forced to rescue Roman, which will probably force you to reschedule the meeting. Three hours before you are scheduled to meet you can actually show up sooner and get this over with. Once you're in the meeting with Goldberg, get up and get out a melee weapon. You can't execute this guy - if you fire any shots it will alert the secretary (who will in turn alert security) while giving you some unwanted stars. When you get your melee weapon out and target him, he'll make a quip about going camping or something, but he'll give you the files (Remember to target him with your knife!). Stab him once with your knife and he'll go down, which doesn't count against you, and then grab the files. Don't hold any weapons when you leave the office. Make your way back to Francis at your leisure. Check your stats, nothing should have changed, then save. ======================================================================= Mission 40: Hostile Negotiation [ROM6] PEOPLE KILLED: 19 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 11 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: assault rifle suggested DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Get some body armor if you don't have any and go back and save. Now answer Mallorie after you get out of bed. Roman is being taken hostage, so take a cab over to the warehouse. Grab the assault rifle in front. You have an advantage to take a couple people out before they find cover. Remember you can zoom in while targeting enemies by pushing in the right analog stick, so you will be less likely to accidentally get a head shot. There is also some health but you should probably save it if you have less than half health. After you take everyone down that you can see, make your way upstairs. Be aware that a lot of them stand at vantage points that will mess you up as you make your way to the stairs, so address those on the upper floors with your assault rifle. Keep your gun aimed so you can target anybody that comes into view. If you find you have lost too much health, you can retreat to near the street and call an ambulance. Additionally, the health pack will respawn if you get far enough away (but don't go too far or you'll fail the mission). As you make your way to the second floor, more enemies will join the battle. There is some body armor in front of some barrels near the stairs to the third floor which you will probably need at this point. On the third floor there are about five more guys, one of them with a shotgun next to a health pack on the wall. He usually won't expose himself unless you get next to him so be careful. After you get past that point three or four more guys will sprint into view, so find some cover. Any shots fired will send them careening down to their death (but won't be reflected on your stats as a kill). Be aware there is an explosive barrel on this floor, so don't shoot it and don't stand next to it. When you get to the fourth floor you will get shot at by two guys on the roof (one bullet knocks them off) and a couple more guys directly in front of you. Take out the roof guys first because they don't have cover and constantly shoot at you. Beware the other explosives. There is a guy in the last room who tends to wait until you run in, but you can shoot is arm sticking out then pick him off when he stumbles back. When you get close enough someone will hold a gun to Roman's head. Crouch, zoom in and take your time. He'll fire at you but unless you are at low health don't sweat it. You should err on the side of caution because even if you shoot, he won't blow away Roman's head. You can shoot the guy in the hand or arm and he'll go down, just don't get any closer. Roman will sprint downstairs, so follow him into a Bobcat. It's recommended after you get in to immediately get out and simply find a cab. You don't want to accidentally hit anybody with a car. Check the stats, everything should be the same, then save. ======================================================================= Mission 41: The Holland Play [DWA3] PEOPLE KILLED: 19 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 11 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: Pistol DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no "You didn't change the game, the game changed you." - Niko IMPORTANT: Kill Playboy because you need Dwayne's special ability. You should get a call soon from Playboy forcing you to make a decision to either kill Playboy or Dwayne. Dwayne is easier to kill, but Playboy is a punk who deserves it more. You should be able to take either of them out without much trouble. You really should kill Playboy unless you want to make life really hard on yourself; you need Dwayne's special ability for a few missions in the future. First Playboy will request your presence, and going to his place will trigger the beginning of the mission. After awhile Dwayne will give you a call. You can sleep for awhile to get his call sooner, or get some more cars for your safe houses to pass the time. If you choose to kill Dwayne (DON'T!), take a cab over to his place. Go into his apartment and head up the stairs. The only resistance will be a guy with a bat, cap him in the knees a few times until he goes down. Walk into this kitchen and encounter Dwayne. He won't put up a fight; he'll even turn his back on you to make it easier. Take out your pistol and execute him so it won't count against you. Kid stuff. You'll get a bunch of money you probably don't need. Playboy is another story, a bit more difficult than Dwayne but shouldn't pose too much trouble for you if you made it this far. Take a cab over to his place. He'll have a few of his boys with him and they will have more than just bats to threaten you with. After some words are exchanged, a shootout will ensue. Incapacitate the guy separating you from Playboy's escape route. Ignore the others and sprint after Playboy (you can run faster if you are holding a lighter gun.) Once you run outside there will be a short scene where he leaps to another building and goes downstairs. Run and jump after him. Sprint downstairs until you get to the ground level. He should still be within your sites when you run outside; he'll be on the map even if you can't. He'll duck into an alley soon, and some thugs in cars will probably start nailing you with SMGs. Ignore them and sprint after Playboy until he is cornered. He'll talk some shit for awhile, but just aim your pistol at him until the crosshair starts flashing indicating you can execute him. I had to pop him in the foot a few times before the game would let me execute him (as usual it won't count against you.) Once this is done, run back to Playboy's pad, which you can now save at. Check your stats before you do! You also can keep two cars here. An enforcer should already be at your disposal. Roman may give you a call soon informing you he bought a place in Algonquin where you can also save at. UPDATE: To get Dwayne's ability, check your email after this mission. Once you read Dwayne's email and reply, You will be 'officially' friends. He'll call you in awhile to hang (go to sleep to speed this up). Wine and dine him a few times to get his special ability. You need about %80 like to get his ability. When you surpass that threshold he will stop answering your calls and you have to wait about 24 game hours for him to let you know that you can call for backup. ======================================================================= Mission 42: Harboring a Grudge [PAT2] PEOPLE KILLED: 19 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 11 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: Assault Rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no UPDATE: Dwayne's ability isn't necessary, but if you have it I recommend giving Dwayne a call when you make it to the roof with Packie. This mission will probably take a few tries, so getting armor and saving is a good idea. Take a cab over to Packie's. After The scene where Kate ogles you, take another cab to the docks. Follow Packie run and climb around until you get to the vantage point. You'll have to steal the truck, but there a lot of goons guarding it. Get down and in a favorable position, beware the guy on your right on the dock near the boat however. Get out your assault rifle and zoom in to take down your opponents without killing them. Packie distracts them but doesn't really do much damage. There are many guys with high powered automatics inside near the truck. Once they are cleared out grab the truck. When you are exiting the building be very careful not to run over any of the unconscious people on the ground. Nothing is lamer than carefully plugging people for thirty minutes and then accidentally crushing their skull with a tire. Cruise through the fence blocking your way out of this area, but look out for people on the sidewalk. After a block or two you will have a couple triad cars firing at you with automatics. The game will instruct you to use the grenades but don't use them (too much crime). You should focus on driving the truck to the destination; your vehicle can take many bullets before it starts even smoking. If for some reason it does start smoking you should go into panic mode and gun it to the destination. When you get to the lockup point, beware the running pedestrians that may sprint in front of you due to the gunfire. Once this mission is complete, take a gander at your stats then save at a safe house of your choosing. ======================================================================= Mission 43: Holland Heights [FRA3] PEOPLE KILLED: 19 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 11 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: Any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no You can take a car around for this mission or a cab. The advantage of taking your car is that you can evade the police later. Whatever you choose, Make you're way to the other McReary, Francis. He'll talk you into killing some schmuck, because you are essentially an assassin. Take a cab to the destination. There will be a short scene where Francis explains the layout and implores you to not start shooting until you get off the ground level. There are essentially two ways you can go about this mission. You can get to the second level before getting involved in a firefight if you go up without a weapon, but the gangsters on the ground will run after you. If you want to go this route its best to sprint up without engaging in anybody unless you have to. You can also play it safe and simply incapacitate everybody. The most dangerous seem to have SMGs and they are on the upper levels. Whether you are sprinting to the top or taking down everyone in your way, you don't necessarily have to follow your targets exact path. Note that on the second floor you have to make him run away from the middle before he flees to the top. After he runs away from the middle of the second floor, take one of the stairways up. You'll get a trashcan thrown at you on the way to the third floor but it doesn't do much damage. There is some health on the third floor near the stairways, look for the glowing green on the wall. Once you get to the roof, you can kill the "scumbag" or let him live. If you do decide to kill him use your pistol to assassinate so it won't count against you. You'll get two stars automatically (Francis clearly isn't watching your back). This mission isn't over, so you can't just jump off the roof. Any gangsters that are still alive will be ghost, and the police will make their way up the apartment. Most of them will be on the ground floor, so hopefully you will have enough health remaining. You should take a stairway that you didn't take on the way up so you can get more health. Be aware of you blast an officer you'll get three stars, and have to restart. If you brought your own car, find it and evade the police. If you took a cab, run around in alleys and keep an eye on your GPS to avoid new cops until you escape. Once it's done you'll be five Gs richer. Get to a safe house, check your stats and save. You should be two more stars deeper in stars attained, but no new crimes. ======================================================================= Mission 44: Lure [FRA4] PEOPLE KILLED: 19 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 13 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: sniper rifle DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Cab it over to Francis again. Once you're at the destination, talk to Francis and go into the apartment across the street and run up a few flights of stairs. The game will give you a not-so-subtle hint to shoot the TV to 'lure' the guy into your crosshairs. Usually when my TV gets sniped I tend to leave the scene, but this guy makes your job really easy. You should have two police cars from way back but if you don't just take one of your cars there or acquire one using one of the methods at the beginning of this faq. After you got a car in that parking spot outside of the old safe house, take a cab over to your remaining mystery contact. It will be Michelle and her employers, they will blackmail you into working for them. After a scene, take a cab over to your destination. Break into the place and check the email. Once you read the emails, log off and you will be asked to kill a guy who appears to be getting too close. You'll need a car for the next part, so jog over to the old safe house location and grab one of your cruisers or a car you put there. You could also take a cab to a different location to grab one of your cars, but that takes a little more time then you would want to spend since you could fail. Once you get a car and drive to the next location, you'll have to chase down and kill a guy. He'll start out very fast, pace your self and watch for civilians. Shooting at him is generally a bad idea because you may attract police attention and if you blow up the car you will have to restart. Basically just follow him around for a couple minutes; he likes to use alleys so keep enough distance to adjust if he turns abruptly. At one of the alleys near the end some pipes will get in your way and you'll have to back up and follow parallel to him. If you fail the first time take note of the location, you can simply not go down that particular alley and follow parallel to him. After a couple blocks he'll actually get back onto your street. Soon he'll start driving much slower. Spin him out a few times, after you do enough damage he will stop and you'll get instructions to execute him and he'll plead from his car. It's also possible to get him pinned (with the help of other cars) where you can get out and shoot him in the face before being instructed to do so. This should be second nature but spinning someone out is easiest to do by pulling up next to a car and veering into the bumper. UPDATE: You don't have to kill Oleg. When he stops, instead of shooting him ram your car into moving objects (so it won't stall out) until it's on fire. Park it next to Oleg, get out and watch him explode. His car is fire retardant or something though, so you should have a car behind him as well because it takes two big explosions to get the guy on fire. OBSOLETE: When the guy is pinned and you have a clear shot, look around and make sure there are no police nearby. If you pick up a star, restart. Annoying, but this mission isn't too tough compared to what you've been through. When he's dead you'll be $6500 richer. Take your cruiser to any safe house or grab a cab if you wish. Check your stats; you shouldn't have any new crimes. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 46: Portrait of a Killer [ULP2] PEOPLE KILLED: 20 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 0 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 0 STARS ATTAINED: 13 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: Police Vehicle WEAPONS: no DWAYNE'S ABILITY: yes You're going to need a cruiser for this mission. Use your car to push it into the parking place at the original safe house, then save somewhere. Once you have a cruiser secured (if you didn't have one already) go to U. L. Papers. He will want you to find a guy, which requires a police car. Take a cab to your cruiser and hop in. After you check your picture, access the police database. Follow the directions, and when you locate the guy drive north until you get close enough to see the targets, feel free to take a cab if you are not in the mood to drive. You're forced to kill all of them so don't hold back. Neither Dwayne's men nor the police do any damage to these guys. The easiest way is to pick most of them off with a sniper. After you take down everybody within your site, drive north past them all on the east side up the road so you can get the drop on the remaining guys. You should have the high ground for most of them so shoot them at your leisure. When they are all disposed of, you have the option of taking your cruiser back to a safe house parking spot. When you receive the mission, take your car to the destination. Update: You could take a cab to the destination then call Dwayne's boys and snag their car. You gotta chase the chopper around, which will be easy for you at this point. Use the highways, even if the chopper seems like its veering in a different direction, just keep going and it will cross overhead for you. Watch for pedestrians but they should be almost nonexistent on the highways. Once you go under a tunnel the chopper will soon land. After that chase, roll up to the bridge with two guards and take them down without killing them. Approach the chopper with your assault rifle. There will be a group of guys huddled around some cover. Take down as many as you can without compromising their lives or yours. At some point you'll get a message saying the meeting is over and to steal the chopper. Do so and take off as fast as possible, you should be able to make it with a sliver of health left if enough guys were killed on the ground. Note that if you attempt to take the chopper too soon (before the message) it will result in your demise. Update: If you have Dwayne's men with you, they can help out distract your enemies, but can't seem to hurt anybody on their own. Once you have the chopper off the ground get out of the immediate area so you don't get shot and fly above all the buildings. You will get two stars but flying to the destination will be a cake walk. Be careful when you land if you haven't flown in awhile; use the in game instructions to assist your descent. Once you are in the clear, take a cab to a safe house. They can take a few hits, but if two or more people are shooting at them they tend to get stun-locked and you won't be able to break them out of it unless you shoot one of your enemies, run into them, or use an object (such as a car) to block their line of vision. 3. There are many, many bad guys in this mission. 4. There is a long drive to your destination from Packie's house. If one thing goes wrong, you have to make that five minute drive all over again. ****WARNING**** Before you do anything max out on assault rifle ammo and armor. Take a cab over to Packie again. After a scene, you'll need a four door car for Packie and his boys. Take a short jog south and you'll find a car on the right in a driveway. Grab it; you shouldn't have to break in (so it won't count as a steal). You can bring one of your cars also but it's much more annoying to make the trip. Go back to Packie's and pick everyone up, but be careful because Packie tends to run into your car while you're moving in order to ride shotgun, which will count against you. After a lengthy drive you'll see the yellow marker which is your destination. Drive past it and circle around the compound until you see an opening that leads into the docking area. Be careful, if you drive too slowly at this point your posse will hop out and you may knock them over. Once you reach the waterfront, get out and note you may have possibly lured some of the bad guys out from cover (which Packie and his friends can handle easily). UPDATE: Once you get to this point give Dwayne a call and recruit some help. Once Dwayne's boys arrive, they'll jog behind your car until Packie and Packie's crew exit the vehicle to engage the Italian mobsters. UPDATE - BEST METHOD: When Packie's guys exit the car, Dwayne's men will enter. Now drive around outside and Let Dwayne's men wreck everybody. Generally try not to reverse without making sure Packie or one of his guys aren't behind you, since it will count as running them down if you tap them. Once everybody on the outside has been taken out, drive your car inside the waste facility. Remember not to reverse because you will definitely hit somebody. Drive in front of your targets on the ground, the guys upstairs can't be damaged by Packie or Dwayne's men. In the middle it may seem like a tough squeeze for your car but you can just drive through the boxes on the left. Once everybody on the ground has been taken out, the tricky part is next. If you run up the stairs the three guys up top will instantly target you. You are forced to kill the first two, I haven't found a way to stun- lock them and run past them. Once those two are dead, go back outside and grab the health. UPDATE: The final guy upstairs tends to hang back either in the room with the bag or close to it's entrance. Dwayne's men, once you are at on the walkway, will then sprint up after you. They usually can serve as a distraction for the final mobster. Aim a weaker gun (such as a SMG) at his leg and approach. Pop him in the leg anytime it seems like he is about to shoot you, and when you get past him sprint to the bag. If you have full life you should be able to grab the bag and jump off through one of the windows (or turn around and jump off the catwalk) without dying. Using this method, you should have two more kills to your name. Scroll past the quick and dirty method for further instructions. OBSOLETE: (old methods below) From here on out there are essentially two ways to do this mission, the safe and painfully long way or risky quick way. I'd recommend the quick way because even the "safe" way I'd conservatively estimate can only successfully be done %20 of the time, and each "safe" run takes thirty minutes. SAFE METHOD: The people standing around the waste depot will open fire when they spot you. Unfortunately you have to do a little babysitting, if you run to far away from the fight one of Patrick's friends will die and you will fail the mission. Your enemies die really easily, if you get the last shot they will usually die instead of go unconscious. Pop each one twice in the chest with an AK, then let Packie, Michael or Gordon get the last shot when they have a fourth or less life left. You can "encourage" your entourage to shoot your target if you get close to who you want to die. Running into your enemies can sometimes make them stumble out of cover. Beware the explosive canisters scattered around. You can get a freebie kill by letting your car get shot up until it's on fire, then drive it over next to somebody and running away. You may get shot in the car while doing this however. Your pals can take a lot of hits but will eventually die if they get shot too much or you run too far away. When you get to the actual entrance of the waste depot you will find some health to the left of the entrance. Make sure your peeps are around and not engaged in any firefights. Once inside you'll have to deal with six or seven more guys. Whittle each of them down and let your teammates finish them like before. One of the guys will be firing at you from the window, if he isn't dead when you run upstairs he'll sprint over to you with another guy that get in your way, which makes a total of three if the guy at the top of the stairway is still on his feet. You have to kill these three guys (and only them) or they -will- kill you. Packie, Michael and Gordon are incapable of hitting anything more than six feet above them. QUICK AND DIRTY METHOD: Ditch Patrick and his friends and gun it straight for the entrance. Make sure Patrick says something to the tune of "It's the moment of truth" before you do this or the doors won't open. Sprint inside and run around the obstacles to the stairs, jumping over them tends to take longer. Note that once you get in Packie and the other two will teleport inside and all the enemies that are alive outside will sprint inside and start shooting your friends, so you are very much on the clock. At the bottom of the stairs you can run into the guy with the SMG and he'll sometimes stumble so you get shot less. Once you get to the mid-level platform kill the guy at the top of the stairs. Free aim may work better here since there are many targets you will latch onto before the guy above you. After the two other guys run out, blast them as well and sprint for the bag. If you did this fast enough and you are very luck, nobody (including you) will have died at this point. Whichever method you've used, the next part is mostly the same. Italian mobsters will be flooding in from all entrances and engaging your teammates. Do a 180 and sprint back on the walkway. Jump down and break your fall on the barrier so you won't take any damage and after you roll keep running in that direction to the southeastern corner of the building and exit the doors on the left. Once you are outside none of your boys are in danger of dying, so if you go through the double doors and don't get shot in the back you are home free more or less. Run down the stairs and jump in the water. Grab the Boat (1 boat stolen!) and wait for Packie. OBSOLETE: Drive to shore and get paid. Take a cab home and check your stats. You should one boat stolen have three more kills for a total of 52 (could be room for improvement here...) then save. DO NOT under any circumstances answer the phone from U. L. Papers. If you do it will trigger a mission, kill yourself and save if this happens. Packie may also call you which you can answer safely - he'll offer his sister even though he recently warned you off her. UPDATE: Take the boat to shore. After a few words with Packie, U. L. Papers may call but DON'T answer. If you trigger the mission, kill yourself. At the end of the day you should have two more kills and a stolen boat added to your record. Save. UPDATE: If you are having trouble with the best method at the top that I recommend, or you are having trouble with the directions I provided, Dave Xander has given me his two cents on how to properly complete the mission. My only problem is he doesn't have an easy scenario for dealing with the third mobster on top of the catwalk, which you have to avoid killing. He also mentions that you may run into a guy on the way to the entrance of the disposal plant, which you MUST NOT do. Xander's method: 1) Buy armor from Lil Jacob. While its not necessary, its nice to have. One time I did not have armor. So I had low health when I was exiting the back door of the waste plant with Packie. A Mafia guy was waiting just outside the door and killed me with one shotgun blast. 2) When the 4 door vehicle, preferably a SUV, is one block away from the waste plant, Packie says something like "Now is the moment of F.. truth". Ahead and to the left is the yellow arrow blip. DO NOT DRIVE OR WALK INTO THE YELLOW BLIP!!!! 3) Continue to drive straight. The yellow blip will disappear as if you entered it but will not trigger the cut scene. At the end of the block where the waste plant is, the Mafia guys will start to shoot at the car. There is only one turn here so turn right and continue to drive. This is a dead end street. Stop near the end of the street and get out of the car. Packie and his two friends will also get out of the car and start shooting at the Mafia guys on the other side of the fence. If Packie & friends just stand there, then start to walk back in the direction you came from and they will start to shoot towards the plant on the other side of the fence. Packie and his 2 friends never died while they were on this street and engaged in the shoot out. It could be a gliche in the game. Or they are too far away from the shooters for any damage to be done. 4) Enter the car by yourself. Packie and 2 friends are too busy to get in the car with you. To the left is an opening in the fence. Drive through this opening and turn left. There is a pile of pipes. Drive around the pipes and there is a gate half open. This is the back gate to the waste plant. Just on the other side of the fence to the right is the door entrance to the plant. Drive through the fence about where gate is half open and stop right at the front of the door to the plant. Exit the car and enter the door. Ignore the health pack as you have made it into the plant with full health, no shots fired, nobody killed, and Packie and friends still alive. Do not shoot anyone outside the building. It's a waste of time unless they are in your way from reaching the door. Sometimes you may have to run over one Mafia guy to reach the door. I have tried taking Packie and friends with me in the car to the door but someone always died there so I leave them in the street where they are much safer. 5) In the waste plant, run straight then turn right. When you see the bottom of the stairs, shoot (I used AK 47) the Mafia guy close to the bottom of the stairs. Sometimes he's bent over not shooting like he's scared but he can start shooting at anytime. When you're close to the bottom of the stairs shoot the guy at the upper level cat walk of the stairs. Then run up the stairs. Do not try to shoot while climbing the stairs, as the targeting system is very poor on the stairs. Run across the cat walk and shoot the 2 guys that come out of the office. Or with full health and armour, you maybe able to run up the stairs without killing anyone. Grab the cash. Do not run back down the stairs. Run straight ahead from the office and jump over the catwalk guard rail. Land right by the back door with Packie waiting there. Exit the door and checking for a shooter outside. Down the stairs and swim to the boat. Mission completed! Micskill's reminder: No matter what method you use (or whatever one you create on your own) at the end of the day you should have two kills or less (please email me if you can manage to kill less then two!) and one boat stolen. Any more crime than that and you have to restart. ======================================================================= Mission 49: Paper Trail [ULP4] PEOPLE KILLED: 34 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 1 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 15 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: no DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no UPDATE: If U. L. Papers doesn't call you, you can go ahead and do the Three Leaf Clover mission first, then complete this one. You ideally should be getting armor and 600 assault rifle bullets for the Three Leaf Clover mission in any case. On your way to the weapon shop he'll probably call you. After you wake up U. L. Papers will call you shortly and trigger another mission. Take a cab to the destination where you will find Little Jacob chilling in a chopper. Take off and fly in the general direction of the other chopper as your rise. It's easiest to fly above all the buildings and follow instead of trying to weave between them. Enjoy the Mary Jane banter and music while chasing the guy until he flies under a bridge. You will be instructed to descend to his level, and Little Jacob will nail him on the third shot from his rocket launcher. Drop him off and keep the chopper if you'd like, just be careful not to land on any pedestrians. The South Bohan save point is usually not too crowded. The hove Beach one where Roman used to live is difficult because of the subway tracks above it. Check your stats before you save, you should have no new crimes. Kid stuff compared to the previous mission. If it hasn't happened already, you will get an unknown caller, which is Ray. He will have work for you. ======================================================================= Mission 50: Three Leaf Clover [PAT4] PEOPLE KILLED: 34 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 1 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 15 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: maxed out assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no The bank heist mission. This is half as hard as the previous Packie mission but takes three times as long. Get armor and safe before starting this, as well as make sure all of your safe houses in the middle island have a couple cars (or helicopters) available to you. You'll also need a car for at the beginning of this mission; the one that was there for Waste Not Want Knots is sadly missing. The easiest way is to have a car at Roman's old apartment ready for you and take a cab there, then drive to Packie's. Once you pick everybody up, drive to the bank. UPDATE: I am now of the opinion this is the hardest mission, due to the length and the bug that sometimes makes SWAT members invincible on the subway tracks, and because Waste Not Want Knots is much easier with Dwayne's homeys helping you. Here are some key notes that you should be aware of for this mission. 1. You can incapacitate any of the cops or SWAT members that have a red arrow above their head and appear on the GPS. Don't rush but be aware that cops behind you can get shots on you. You have to shoot all the law enforcement with a red arrow in order to progress. The exception is in the last phase of the sewers where Derrick and Packie take off down the tracks, it seems you can incapacitate the SWAT guys across the subway tracks, and you don't have to take down all of them to trigger the next event. 2. Packie and his brother can take what seems to be unlimited damage (I've seen Packie's brother stand next to a car when it exploded and survived the ensuing fire damage). If you shoot them for a couple seconds they will die however. 3. Unlike Waste Not Want Knots, your teammates are more adept at taking down law enforcement, so try not to shoot somebody after they are downed or you may get a kill. 4. I believe you are given a carbine rifle for this mission, which does more damage but seems to be less accurate. This assault rifle is still an ideal gun; zoom by pressing the right trigger inward. Even if the police or SWAT are extremely low on life, as long as you don't shoot them in the head they won't die. Use single shots to keep your accuracy high. 5. I'm told there are two health replenishments available during this mission but you may need to consult another FAQ to find them, because I haven't been able to. (UPDATE: found one of them in the subway) 6. This mission is very long. Being conservative and surgical with your shots and actions will make this much easier for you. Don't take any chances; you don't want to repeat this mission too often. UPDATE: You can call for Dwayne's crew at any time if you want but they tend to get lost and don't help much. After Michael gets blown away, go into the vault and get the money. On your way out you'll be surrounded by police but don't bother putting yourself into danger or shoot anybody. After a few moments Packie and Derrick will run into an alley where there will be a few cops. Take your time and pelt them to death since your teammates aren't in any real danger of dying. Try to give yourself cover where you also won't be shot in the back. Be careful not to do too much damage to a car so it won't blow up. Advance when told to do so, the second wave isn't too difficult. Packie and Derrick may have a bit more trouble hitting this particular group, so take down the ones with red arrows as needed. Don't feel rushed. After you advance a bit farther, there are quite a few to deal with on the third and fourth waves. They also will rush you, so try to take down the ones closest first. Fortunately they tend to aggro to your teammates instead of shooting you. Any time you are instructed to follow Packie and Derrick, do so and ignore all the police. After a couple more waves short scene with a chopper will occur. Run down stairs into the subway after the others, and ignore the police on your right. They may get some pistol damage but it shouldn't be a lot. Ideally you will have full health and possibly some armor left over. If you are low on health, you can pepper them both with a couple leg shots and then sprint pass them. I did this successfully once without getting hit once. Once you're in the subway find some cover and peck away your enemies. There are two waves here, the first being police. After they are downed, SWAT will emerge with assault rifles. You may find yourself with low health, so locate the health on the wall on one of the pillars. Look for a greenish you if you have trouble locating it. UPDATE: The next area is a bit tricky. Many SWAT guys will be on the opposite side of the tracks blasting at you and your crew. It seems like the only way to progress is to incapacitate a certain amount, simply running after Packie in the tunnel can backfire due to a bug. It would seem if the SWAT members get too close, they become invincible, and if this happens Packie and his Derrick won't run away down the tracks. It's best to not hop down onto the tracks until you knock out enough SWAT members to trigger Derrick and Packie to start fleeing. Just make sure you follow them once you get the message that they are getting too far away from you. OBSOLETE: The game will instruct you to turn around and blast some SWAT members (and any police left over) but don't. Run down away from your teammates a bit and crouch, it makes you harder to hit. After thirty seconds or so, go back near your teammates and they should be more inclined to run away at this point. Shoot a couple SWAT members but don't get the killing blow if it seems like nothing is happening. After Packie and Derrick take off, follow them. They start out on the right side but shift to the left because a train is barreling after them. Follow them and you will be fine, you have plenty of time to react to it. After you reach the subway exit, you'll notice you have three stars instead of five (and those three will count against you). Run upstairs, you now are in a typical police escaping situation that isn't scripted. Unfortunately your not out of the woods yet since you can't just steal a car. You now should make your way back to one of your safe houses to get one of your cars that has four doors. Be aware that if you sprint at full speed you will lose Packie or Derrick. It is recommended you jog around instead of sprinting. The police and helicopter tend to shoot at your teammates more than you, so if you are low health you don't have to panic as much. Remember that alley ways are key to escaping the police. It may be possible to jog away on foot by avoiding the common streets. If this doesn't work, jog to a safe house. If you have a helicopter, grab it and fly away to Packie's house. When escaping be very careful not to bump into any pedestrians, you don't want to restart at this point. If you make your way to a car you have, drive to a spray and pray, then take a cab to Packie's. Take a deep breath and check your stats. You should have three more stars but no more kills in what many consider to be the hardest mission in the game. If you have gotten this far, you definitely can complete the Pacifist Niko Challenge. Take a cab to a safe house and save. Enjoy a victory soda or beer for completing this mission. UPDATE: After perhaps 12 hours, Packie will call you. Answer him so you become friends, you should probably do whatever activity he wants to do in order to get his special ability. ======================================================================= Mission 51: A Long Way to Fall [RAY1] PEOPLE KILLED: 34 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 1 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 18 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: Assault rifle recommended. Look at the picture from the text message then run over to the guy with the white 72 jersey. He'll instruct you to take an elevator up and use stairs the rest of the way. Be aware after you get off the elevator a guy will be blasting you with an automatic, so stay on your toes. You'll encounter about six guys on every floor; they use an assortment of mostly SMGs but some pistols. They like to blind fire from behind corners, there are two health replenishments on the walls near the stairwells. Generally it takes four assault rifle bullets to put them down, so don't spray too much. Single bullets generally work better, they get stunned and you can plug them at your leisure. Once you get to the yellow marker for the targets room, there will be three guys in the living room waiting for you. Once they are disposed of, go the kitchen and grab the health if you need it. On your way back you'll get a door slammed in your face, and the chase is on. Follow him up the stairs, but on the second flight up there will be a couple guys waiting for you, and a couple more on the roof. Don't feel rushed, just do your thing and take your shots carefully. Once you have Ted cornered take out your pistol and shoot him. After he plummets into the fence, the mission is over. Take a cab back to a safe house. You should have no new crimes. Make sure you don't tap anybody, and when you get close to the destination they will go away. This mission is cake compared to what you've been through. You gotta find your friends from the previous mission and get the diamonds back - which translates into a pretty standard GTA mission. Take a cab to the next destination and after a short scene you'll find yourself in a fast car. Chase these jokers around for awhile without shooting them. After they crash in the park take out your assault rifle. One of them has a shotgun so don't run up next to him. Take them out carefully, you don't have to kill them. After that go into the bathroom and shoot doors until you find the last guy. Execute him (which won't count against you) and take a cab to the bridge. After you give over the diamonds, make sure you haven't committed any new crimes, and then save. ======================================================================= Mission 54: Museum Piece [RAY4] PEOPLE KILLED: 34 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 1 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 18 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: optional Update: If you opt to use Dwayne's men, call for them and have them next to you before you engage the member of the Lost and enter the museum. Take yet another cab to Ray's. He'll want you to facilitate the trade for the money with the diamonds you got earlier. It won't work out of course, and you'll have to battle your way out from a bunch of Italian mobsters. You start in cover but a guy to your left will have line of site on you, so take him out first. There are about ten people on this floor, some on the balcony across from you. There are also about eight people on the ground floor so you may as well blast them into submission when you have the high ground. Near the stairs down there is health on the wall. Once you start to descend some more enemies will spawn above you, and some of them will spawn on the ground. Two of the guys will be sprinting up the stairs to you so turn your attention to them first. After that nail most of them and you should see some body armor on a desk. You can take out everybody on the balconies above you or simply sprint for the exit (some may eventually catch up if you dilly dally on the next part however). There should be some more health on the wall if you need it, and a bunch of guys outside using cars as cover. Equip yourself with a light weapon (not sniper or assault rifle) and sprint outside and to the right towards the park. After you get far enough away from the mob, the mission will be over. Cab it home, check stats for no new crimes and save. ======================================================================= Mission 55: No Way on the Subway [RAY5] PEOPLE KILLED: 34 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 1 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 18 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: pistol or SMG DWAYNE'S ABILITY: Yes Cab it to Ray's again. You're going after The Lost this time because Johnny has the money from the diamond deal. When you find them at their hideout you'll be provided with a bike (which doesn't count as a steal) in order to chase two of them down. Rove around after them, don't go top speed. Eventually they'll go into the subway, drop off the edge and do a 180 in midair if you can. Follow them around but don't get too close to them, they sometimes make dramatic turns on different subway tunnels. You can actually get hit by a train and have more than enough time to get back on the bike and catch up to them. Once you get close to the edge of island one of them will bite the dust hitting an oncoming train. After going over the water the remaining biker will veer to the left abruptly onto a walkway. Speed down this walkway so you get enough speed to make a jump (or else you'll crash and waste some time which is not a big deal, he doesn't lose you very fast). Follow him a few more blocks and he will slow greatly. Once you feel like you're in an area without police, blast him from your bike with an SMG but be careful not to run over him when he falls off. UPDATE: At this point don't finish him off. Get far enough away so the Lost biker can't hit you with his pistol, then recruit Dwayne's crew to eliminate the target. You should have no crimes. ======================================================================= Mission 56: Weekend at Florian's [FLO1] PEOPLE KILLED: 34 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 1 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 18 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: no DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no You will get a call when you wake up from your previous save - Ray will fill you in on the guy Niko's been looking for all this time. There will be one across the street slightly to your right that you can take without the game considering it a steal. Follow his directions until you find the guy, driving slowly helps. Grab a cab back to Ray's for his last mission. You are now charged with rubbing out Isaac and the diamond dealers. Take another cab to the hotel. Go take the elevator up. There will be five dudes with big guns waiting for you, so turn to the right and get out of most of their line of sight before you start blasting them. They tend to die easily so put on your kid gloves when shooting them. Be aware they are fairly accurate with their guns so using cover will help you. After you advance down the hallway go upstairs. Watch out for the guys at the top. There will be plenty of gangsters in the lavish hotel room, it may help to shoot the doors to get line of sight instead of walking through them. One of your targets will be around here which you will be forced to kill. Once you've cleared everyone out on this floor, you can get some health from the kitchen. Advance upstairs once you have regrouped. There will be a guy at the top so shoot him to submission. The next part can be a bit hard because there will be three guys shooting at you through glass (you can shoot through it too) but you won't have any cover. You have to walk a fine line between shooting them before they kill you but not overdoing it and accidentally killing them. Your last target will plummet off the building and won't count against you. There is also body armor on the roof which you should grab since the police will now be on to you and there are some gangsters left. There will be some stairs that lead down from the roof to another lower section of the roof with three more guys waiting to turn you into Swiss cheese. Once they are unconscious, find the lift and take it to the ground. The police will be waiting outside the alley so it is recommended you jump the fence to your left. Use the usual techniques (alleys, parks, avoid major streets) to get out from under the police's thumb. Once you run a certain proximity away from the hotel the mission will be over and you can either evade the police or let yourself get killed. Thus ends Ray's missions. The Phil Bell mission thread will now be open to you. Take note of your new crimes - Two kills and two more stars. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 57: Hating the Haters [FLO2] PEOPLE KILLED: 36 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 1 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 20 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: any (pistol recommended) DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Take a cab to Florian's/Bernie's. Your old friend will help taking out some hater. Take a cab to the park with Bernie. Jog behind him but not too close to him. After about thirty seconds he'll get jumped. UPDATE: It's much easier to ready your pistol while jogging after Bernie. Once he gets whacked with a bat, sprint forward until you exit the tunnel then aim towards the upper right until you lock onto the hater and fire. The pistol tends to work well because you can run fast with it and it is accurate. Once you shoot him once, he'll falter. Jump over the railing and tag him again before he makes it to the bike - if he gets to a certain point up the stairs he actually sort of just teleports into it. Shoot him until he dies, then ignore the next paragraph and follow the one below it. OBSOLETE: Chase the "hater" up the stairs and grab one of the Faggio's (it won't count against you, but someone may get pissed and try to knock you off). Chase the hater around the park. Don't be afraid to take shortcuts across the grassy plains. He is pretty quick but you should concentrate on not hitting anybody. After awhile you'll notice Bernie so pick him up. He may run in front of you so approach Bernie slowly. After that the chase will go the major roads so keep chasing him around until he slows down a bit or you catch up and then blast him. Get out of the area before the police arrive, then take a cab to Perseus. After Bernie is satisfied, take a cab to a safe house. You should have another kill but no other crimes. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 58: Union Drive [FLO3] PEOPLE KILLED: 37 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 1 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 20 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: no DWAYNE'S ABILITY: yes Take a cab to Bernie's. He'll want you to find a fly car. As usual, the game provides you with an ideal vehicle a short distance away. Look to your left and you'll find a Turismo for the taking that doesn't count as a steal. Pick up Bernie and drive through town north to the destination to meet with the blackmailers. After a scene, chase after them. They are pretty quick so you may have to move faster than what is in your comfort zone. The blackmailers will follow a highway clockwise around the perimeter of the town. You don't necessarily have to follow them through the tunnels and highways however, it's actually easier to go on the streets parallel to them as long as you don't mind Bernie's whining. If you do decide to chase directly behind them beware the cars that they'll flip over that may get in your way. UPDATE: After the chase, get out on foot when the game directs you to. Immediately sprint over to the blackmailers until they take out their guns, then sprint back over to a major road, such as the one nearby Bernie's location. Call Dwayne and use his special ability. When the reinforcements arrive, take the car Dwayne's friends deliver you and allow them to hop in. Carefully avoid people back to the blackmailers and let your new friends eradicate them. Get out and go back to Bernie, Dwayne's friends will still follow you so try not to hit them on your way back to Bernie's place. Again, ignore the obsolete paragraph and skip to the next one. OBSOLETE: After a somewhat lengthy chase around town, they'll attempt to escape on foot near the southwestern edge of the middle island. Drive close enough for them to start take shots at you then retreat a ways into the park, as far as possible from the streets. Park Bernie in a safe place and make sure there are no police around (there may be a few walking here and there). When you feel that there are no police and you are standing away from any major streets, feel free to return fire with a couple sniper shots or a zoomed in assault rifle. If you attract police attention you will have to restart. If you can somehow separate these guys it may be possible to knife them before they shoot you to death (you can call an ambulance which may help here). Once the Dimitri's blackmailers are dead, return Bernie to his residence. Return to a safe house, you can keep the Turismo if you wish. Make sure you don't have any new crimes. Save as usual. ======================================================================= Mission 59: Buoys Ahoy [FLO4] PEOPLE KILLED: 37 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 1 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 20 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: no DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Bernie should text you momentarily. Take a cab to the pier to meet Bernie for some "fun". The boat you grab will count as a steal but not much you can do about that. Get used to boating physics again on your way to your destination. Once you are there, Dimitri's men will show up and make some poorly placed shots. Follow them around, but note that like last mission you don't have to do everything that they do. It's usually easier just to follow parallel to them while they weave around and go over jumps. Be careful not to flip your boat because you will have to reload if that happens (restarting through your phone results in another boat steal). Don't shoot at the boat. After you pass under a bridge near Charge Island, the police will get on Dimitri's men, but he gets blown up quickly. They'll soon dock and make a run for it, so chase after them on foot. If you don't go the way they did you can jump up the steep hill to the left of the pier. They'll spread out once on land, but don't feel pressured to take them out quickly because they stop at predestined locations. You can blast them into submission without killing them, so do so. Pedestrians may attempt to join the fray, don't kill any of them. Once again, don't shoot near any major roads or the police may notice (and cause you to restart). After they are shot to the brink of death, return to Bernie. He'll take off in his man's boat, and his missions are all complete. Not to bad compared to Packie's eh? Take a cab to one of your homes and note that you have one more boat steal but nothing else. Save. Bernie will call soon and give you an Infernos for your efforts. ======================================================================= Mission 60: Actions Speak Louder Than Words [GER1] PEOPLE KILLED: 37 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 2 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 20 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Lets return to the McReary brothers. After that is done you will have to cleanup the remaining four Ancelottis Use your car for cover if you like. You can take them down without killing them. After the last one dies you'll get a couple stars. Shake the police on foot or with your car (unless it vanished like it did for me). Appreciate the title for what I believe to be is a Terminator reference. After Gerry jibber jabbers for awhile, get on the bike that is waiting for you (not a steal). Head to the meeting point, beware the pedestrians. It may be a very familiar route from a certain Packie mission. After you get to the destination prepare for a chase. There is a bum on your left when the chase starts, don't run over him when you start the Frankie Garone chase. He'll drive around many alleys with many people, so don't overextend your self trying to chase him. The margin of error, however, is smaller then usual. Follow the roads he takes; don't try to use the parallel strategy if you miss a turn. After about a minute, he'll slow down to a reasonable speed. If you want to take him out legit like, just run into him ten times, and the police won't think anything of it when he dies. In fact, neither will the game. Update: Make sure not to run into him too fast or you will get tagged for him down in the crime section. The second time I did this mission I was having trouble reproducing my original method. It would seem that Frankie Garone takes damage when you tap him (which produces a decent 'thud' sound) but he will occasionally slam into a car and fall off his bike before you can ram him to death. If this happens, hop off your bike and run into him repeatedly until he falls down for good. Frankie may have thoughts about taking out his gun, but he'll quickly put it away and run, which is a shame because you could easily call Dwayne's guys to take him out if he was stupid enough to take shots at Niko. When it's all said and done, you should have no new crimes on your conscious. Go home and save. ======================================================================= Mission 62: Smackdown [DER1] PEOPLE KILLED: 37 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 2 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 22 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: Police vehicle WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: optional For this mission you will need a cop car, it helps to have one at or close to Alderny. Take a cab to Derrick's. Some dude named Bucky Sligo is threatening Derrick and the other McReary's. Your job is to take him out. You'll need a cop car for this so go back to Roman's old apartment for one (if you don't have one ready you can go north a couple blocks from that old safe house and push a parked cop car into the parking spot. Once you save and reload it is all yours). When you have a cop car, search for Bucky Sligo in the database and add him to your GPS. Drive the police car to the Burger Shot and back into the destination. You'll have to chase this guy around for forty-five seconds. He likes to drive in yards and behind houses where people tend to meander about so be careful. Once you get near the destination put the police car in a direction where you can escape easily without hitting anybody. Once Bucky reaches his friend's house a firefight will ensue. Bucky will run inside and there will be a guy on the deck that will start shooting at you. Someone may also run outside to also engage you. You can fire back now (which will cause the police to arrive) or go around back, which is much easier. If you go through the back door shoot the door open and shoot everybody as opposed to walking in and getting lit up. There will be about six guys total. They don't die too easily; just don't get a head shot. The one on the second floor is waiting for you at the top of the stairs with a shotgun, which can really put a hurting on your health. If get a star, you may have to rush a little bit because things can get very messy if the police arrive. However, if the police do arrive they occasionally will take out a bad guy or two for you. Once they are all downed, you will get two stars automatically if you haven't already. Return to your police car if you can without jeopardizing your life and escape to safety (or make a run for it if you have to). Once the police are evaded the mission is complete. After a call to Derrick's strung out self, Ray will text you letting you know he set you up with a safe house. I'd recommend driving your cruiser there if you still have it in one piece. Check your stats, two more stars attained but nothing else. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 63: Babysitting [DER2] PEOPLE KILLED: 37 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 2 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 24 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: none WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended, 150+ bullets DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Take a cab over to Derrick, or just jog over if you're at the Alderney safe house. You'll start out in a boat (which counts as a steal for some reason). Meet up with Kim and follow his boat. When your enemies emerge, stay to the right of them and let Derrick do the shooting. Ideally you will be tanking for him while he kills a boat or two. This may take a few tries because Kim, Derrick or you could possibly die. Kim's boat will eventually stop after you notice the helicopter. Derrick will stop helping (out of ammo') at this point so kill the two guys on the boat, the one shooting at you first. Don't use the rocket launcher on the helicopter because it will count as three kills. Instead, blast the two guys shooting from the sides and shoot the helicopter down with your assault rifle. UPDATE: It is possible to take out the chopper without getting two fires started on your record. If you aim at the tail of the chopper, it will go down much faster and won't count against you. You should tap the fire button instead of holding it down for more accuracy, crouching also helps. Black fire should appear before you reload for the fourth time, keep firing and it will go down much sooner than if you blast it indiscriminately. OBSOLETE: It will take a two or three hundred bullets but it will eventually go down. The pilot will bail out, but you will be charged with two fires started. Guide Kim to shore. At the end of the day you should have one more boat Stolen and four more kills. Derrick wants you to kill his old friend Aiden when he is in transit with a police escort. Take a cab to the truck Packie wants you to use and drive it to the tunnel. Block off the designated area but don't start blasting the police until Packie arrives. Some of them have assault rifles and body armor. Some of them will also approach you instead of sitting still, so take down the ones closest first. If you can, make sure you don't block a path way out with their bodies because you don't want to run over them. Packie may help you on the other side, but mostly it will be up to you to incapacitate them. After they are all downed grab the stockade. Be careful not to run over any of their unconscious bodies. When you reach one of the tunnel exits it may occasionally be blocked by a police vehicle, so try to build a lot of momentum to smash through. If that doesn't work back out and go a different way. Once you're outside you have to evade three stars while keeping the stockade. Alleys aren't as good of an idea since they are too tight, try to use hills downward to build up enough speed to get out of law enforcements grasp. When you drop of the stockade Packie will have another vehicle for you, so drive Aiden to the cliffs. Pop him in the chest once with a pistol and watch him plummet to his doom. Take a cab back home and check your stats - you should have three more stars. Save as per usual. ======================================================================= Mission 65: Blood Brothers [FRA5] PEOPLE KILLED: 41 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 3 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 27 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: Assault rifle DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no UPDATE: pop Francis McReary with an assault rifle round instead of a sniper bullet and they will go into a coma while it doesn't count against you. "It is possible to do this mission without a single shot and no health loss. Go to the mission destination after talking to Phil. When you're in the position and Triads have arrived go to the left and jump over the wall. The Triads will spot you and they will start to shoot but that's not a problem. Head left and go around the building, enemies won't follow. When you will get near the van it will start to move so hop on it. That's about it." Thank you Chungarunga!! My old method is below. If you use Chungarunga's method above, skip to the last paragraph. Phil Bell should be the only mission thread available to you. Take a cab to his office. He'll want you to rip off a truck from the Triads that has a lot of heroin. There will be an Intruder in front of his place that won't count against you if you are inclined to take it. Grab it and find a cab, then take the cab to the destination. Once there the heroin truck will show up along with about twenty guys that will shoot you on sight. It's probably impossible to sprint to the truck from any angle and survive. OBSOLETE: It's best to methodically pick them off with your assault rifle while zoomed. Be careful not to get any headshots. Some of them will rush you so take them out first. Advance towards any stragglers as necessary. Once they are all unconscious the truck will pull away soon, so run after it. After you jump on the van, you'll have to jam the A button to climb up. Follow the directions in game and enjoy Niko's antics. Once you have the truck drive it to the destination. Take a cab back home and make sure you don't have any new crimes. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 67: Undertaker [PAT5] PEOPLE KILLED: 41 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 3 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 27 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: yes OBSOLETE: (You should have had access to Dwayne's ability a long time ago. Before anything, you pretty much must have Dwayne's special ability for this mission. It's kind of a pain in the ass because you can only get him to go out at certain times, but it's worth it. Needless to say if you killed him you're going to have some problems. I got his special ability around %77 like. I'm not certain how to budge his respect but it was at %66, not sure if it matters though. Now get dressed for the funeral! Don't forget to wear nice shiny shoes too. Whatever you wore to the lawyer's meeting should work. Body armor is also a fantastic idea. Packie and Kate will call you in a minute or two. If you aren't quite ready, don't answer Packie, or if you already did kill yourself and save before progressing. Don't bother taking a car to the funeral because it will vanish, so take a cab. When you arrive take note of the hearse. If it becomes too damaged you will lose the mission. This is quite a difficult mission, so after you are dressed up for it you should save. When you get to the funeral, call for Dwayne's boys -before- you step on the yellow arrow. UPDATE: If you brought armor (which you should have), sprint across the street to the car on the curb that is farther away from you. You will get shot quite a bit but your body armor should keep you at least with a fourth of your health remaining. Dwayne's guys are much more effective in the car, and it won't count as a steal even though it would appear you are hotwiring it. You'll literally mow all the Albanians and their reinforcements down within a couple minutes. The paragraphs below still may be useful to you, but you can skit to the second to last paragraph if you would like after all the Albanians are dead. Furthermore, you won't attract any police attention this way by not firing any bullets. After the funeral procession, a firefight will occur with some Albanians that Gerry has beef with. The game will force you to draw your pistol, but switch to an assault rifle. The first wave of four have pistols and low grade automatics. Wound them all and let Packie and any police in the vicinity finish them off. You can call for police backup (or they may arrive on their own), but Dwayne's ability won't work at this point. Another way to speed things up is to hop in one of their cars that they are using for cover and help give Packie a better shot. You can also push other vehicles on top of your enemies. It doesn't really kill them but gives Packie time to shoot back. Beware if they don't die immediately, they could survive under the car and if you drive that car it will count against you as someone being run down. You can also try drawing enough fire to make the car smoke, then park it next to them and watch them explode (you'll take some hits doing this however, so don't try it with low health). Generally, however, the best strategy is to gun down the guy hiding behind the car that the Albanians came in until he is at low life, then let someone else kill him. Once he's dead get in the car and let Dwayne's boys and Pack do most of the grunt work. Be careful not to back over his body though because that might count against you as a person run down. You can actually just stay in the car and not really utilize much of the strategy below; the biggest danger with this strategy is you dying. It's still the easiest way to get the job done. After most or all of them are dead, another car load of guys with automatics will arrive. Use the same principals - shoot them until they are almost dead and have Packie, Dwayne's boys and the police finish them. It's tedious but possible. Remember not to use the hearse as cover. If you find yourself low on heath, you can far enough away (but not too far) and call an ambulance. If the paramedics hear gun fire they run away though. Before you kill off these guys it usually helps to take one of the cars across the street or one of the Albanian cars and block the alley way. It messes up their AI a bit and makes them run all the way around the block, which makes cleanup much easier. After the second wave, another car will approach as well as some guys from the alley way. Things will get pretty crazy at this point with about eight Albanians to deal with, but don't kill all of the directly. Another complication is that while Packie can take a lot of fire, it is possible that he could die. With the help of Dwayne's friends it's quite possible to not kill anybody. Dwayne's boys seem to be more focused when you are all in a car instead of trying to use cover and being useless. Once you finish off all but two of them, you'll automatically get two stars. Don't sweat it though, after you kill the last two the police don't actually surround you until you get in the hearse. Dwayne's boys won't get in but be careful not to hit them, they tend to run up next to the car. The final phase is taking the hearse to the graveyard, which is kind of a crap shoot. Be careful not to hit anybody, but all of the bodies will vanish from the previous firefight. Drive efficiently but don't speed even the more Albanians will be on your butt shortly. Don't bother shooting back at them because you may cause a death, explosion or get more police on you. If you run into too many objects the casket will fall out, and believe me you don't want to redo this mission after getting this far. Make sure you get off the exit after the bridge or you're going to have a really tough time. Packie may complain about his brother about to fall out but he just says that if the top of the casket is off. It's somewhat amusing that Packie complains about how slow you're driving but immediately sounds like he is going to crap himself because he's brother is going to fall out. UPDATE: hopefully you killed Francis, this phase of the mission is much easier if you did. Once you make it to the cemetery, check your stats to make sure everything is legit. Take a cab to a safe house and save. ======================================================================= Mission 68: I'll Take Her [GER3] PEOPLE KILLED: 41 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 3 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 27 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: none DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Gerald should call you soon after the Undertaker mission, so head over there via cab. Go ahead and save, then call the girl when you are ready to start the mission in earnest. After you call at the appropriate time, take a cab and meet Gracie Ancelotti at her house. Drive 'Gracie' to the beach; try not to run into too much stuff (or people). Once you get close enough you'll have to turn around and go all the way back north to the safe house. Try and get onto the highway before she starts spazzing out too much, you may accidentally hit a biker or pedestrian if you are on the regular streets. You should drive somewhat fast since I think she tries to bail out at one point, but Niko will elbow her in the face and knock her out shortly after that. When you get to the lockup, Niko will hand her over to some dudes. Go back and save to pass some time. After you wake up, Packie should give you a call soon requesting you take a picture of Gracie Ancelotti. Take a cab over there and head upstairs. Use your camera phone to take a picture. Make sure you have no new crimes and save again. Ray will probably call you soon and the dialogue serves as a history lesson from the diamond missions. ======================================================================= Mission 69: Pegorino's Pride [PEG1] PEOPLE KILLED: 41 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 3 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 27 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: provided WEAPONS: Assault Rifle DWAYNE'S ABILITY: Yes UPDATE: It is possible to complete this mission without killing anybody. Body armor will help for this mission, it's recommended you grab some and save before progressing. We've ignored Jimmy Pegorino for awhile so let's check him out. Take a cab over there. Pegorino's wife hints that maybe the organization isn't doing so well in her sarcastic way. Jimmy will talk in riddles for awhile but what he really wants is for you to make sure things don't go sour at a meeting Load up in Jimmy's car and head south to the refinery. UPDATE: Once you are there go inside the refinery. Switch from the sniper rifle they give you to the assault rifle once you reach the top of the stairs and after the cut scene. Duck and zoom in. Take out the guys on the right first, the one in the middle generally gets taken out by Pegorino or one of his men. Work your way from right to left. If one of the guys on the right is alive for three or four seconds, he will tend to hide behind a steel pillar on the right that is in your way and proves difficult to lock onto. Hopefully you have good vision or a big HDTV, because you will have to tag him in the hand or wrist to drive him into your view. Using the assault rifle, you can blast everyone unconscious but not kill them. OBSOLETE: Snipe all those mafia dudes; it shouldn't be too hard even though they are surprisingly agile for big guys. When they are dead jump go the ground level again. The bullets you hear are being aimed at you, not Pegorino. When you are on the ground the guys here can be blasted unconscious instead of killed. Many of them will pitch over the side when you hit them with a single bullet. Run up the stairs on the right and hug the wall so the guys above you won't hit you. They have AKs and attack from many angles so beware. Some of them like to hang out around corners, sound is your friend. Circle around the building to reach Jimmy. Don't dilly dally too long or else he'll die, but don't rush and accidentally kill anybody either. Once again, approaching the building from the eastern side is less dangerous then going the obvious route. Sprint over to Jimmy when you see him to initiate a car race, even if there are guys left over that you haven't dealt with. Drive around the factories, ignore anybody that shoots at you (don't run into them either). After about a minute of driving around, the car will stop and you'll have to blast a few more guys. UPDATE: Once they hop out of the car, incapacitate everybody in view then call Dwayne's guys for reinforcements. Note that if you call them earlier in the mission, and they destroy the car with the offering, you will fail the mission. It is generally better to wait until this juncture. In any case, they can take a few hits but shouldn't pose much of a problem for you at this juncture. When they are disposed of sprint after the guy with the goods, he'll be on your GPS. He'll be upstairs zig zagging around, when you get up there he'll try to go back downstairs, so keep an eye on your radar. Pop him once, then let Dwayne's men finish him. He may also be walkable, as he seemed reluctant to use his gun on me. Return to Jimmy Pegorino's car. Take it easy on the way back to Jimmy's, no need to rush. Once Jimmy's safe and sound, take a cab back to a safe house. You shouldn't have any more kills. ======================================================================= Mission 70: She's a Keeper [GER3] PEOPLE KILLED: 41 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 3 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 27 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: no DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Take a cab to Gerry McReary at the jail. Concentrate on not hitting any pedestrians, and don't slam into anything or Gracie will die, which will make her a poor bargaining chip. Once you get to the new safe house its all done. Drive over to the exchange point. The exchange will go smoothly until a man from Niko's past shows up, Mr. Bulgarin. Get ready for a big firefight. Blast your way out but don't kill anybody. Finally Packie will be packing something larger than a pistol. The guys on the upper levels tend to fall off. After the guys are killed on the ground, head up the ramp after Packie. There will be some armor half way up. Three guys will be up there, you can hit them between the pipes and the walkway safely. More will spawn above and behind you shortly, and there are many of them. Be careful not to shoot the explosive barrels. Packie will draw some of the heat but you will have to work fast. Some of them will fall off the railing after getting shot but not all of them. Continue to follow Packie's lead. Keep an eye on your GPS for red dots that represent your enemies. One of them likes to blind fire so hit him in the hand with a zoomed in assault rifle to get him exposed. After the last guys on the walkway are downed, two cars full of guys (eight total) will arrive. It is recommended you back up a bit and abuse distance to take them down safely, as you may be at low health at this point. Five or six more will appear on your level on the walkway. Do your thing and take them out. Some of them will buckle over as if they are going to fall off but don't, yet they'll mysteriously lose all their life. Luckily they tend to focus on Packie at this point, so place your shots carefully. When they are dead follow Packie North and then West. There is some health on the generator-thingie on the walkway that you can spot if you look for a green hue. After you catch up to Packie, one of the guys will throw away the diamonds. Dispatch Mr. Bulgarin's remaining men. Go down the ladder. Niko will explain everything to Packie including Dimitri and Bulgarin. More pressing matters for you include getting off this silly island. Don't try swimming for it though; Packie can't swim very well apparently. Try to find a way to jog back to the highway above you, you'll eventually find a cab up there. Once Packie is dropped off, take a cab back to your pad. You shouldn't have any new crimes. Gerry's missions are now complete as are the McReary's clan as a whole. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 72: Payback [PEG2] PEOPLE KILLED: 41 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 3 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 27 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: yes (provided at Jimmy's house however, not a steal) WEAPONS: any DWAYNE'S ABILITY: yes Take a cab to Jimmy's big house. Jimmy will want you to get revenge on the Pavanos for the crap they pulled in Pegorino's Pride. Take a cab to their hangout but before you step on the yellow arrow, call Dwayne's boys and get in their car (restart if they don't bring one). UPDATE: You can also take Jimmy's car to the next yellow arrow and call Dwayne's guys when you reach the shootout, which will result in you having two cars to explode your enemies with. Have your car facing the north east before you get on the arrow, and the Italians will spot you. Chase them around town, which may be kind of annoying because there seem to be a lot of pedestrians running around here no matter what time of day it is. UPDATE: it is possible to get by this mission with but one kill on your record. After the chase, most guys will stay at the dealership but a shotgunner will come after you. Stick around in your car because if you get out enemies will get out and attack you who would normally get into their cars and try to escape. Call Dwayne's peeps while avoiding the shotgunner for awhile (if you already have them just drive around for a minute before doing the next step). When they arrive, get out and go into the alley in front of the dealership so you are as far away as possible from all the major roads, then gun down the shotgunner (who is invincible from your new friends.) Another guy with an automatic will probably also be close behind the shotgunner, but Dwayne's guys can kill him. Get back in your car at this point. Hopefully one or two of the other guys fled by car instead of going after you (or they will soon). In any case, there will be three guys in the auto parking lot that are invincible to Dwayne's men and police fire. You can try firing on them from the alley but I wouldn't recommend it since it almost always attracts the police. One of the enemies that is killable by Dwayne's men is usually roaming around the front of the parking lot, it's easy to tell which one is killable in this way because he will falter when shot by Dwayne's men. The tricky part - which took me five tries the second time around I tried to do this - is to cause a chain reaction among all the cars to get all three guys killed. Basically you want to be a certain distance away so that they shoot your car without hurting you or Dwayne's men too much. Once your car is on fire drive up to the left-most guy and make sure your car (which should be on fire) will chain next to two other cars - especially the one the guy on the left is hiding behind. Get out and sprint away, you should be out of armor by now but still in okay health. Ideally at least one of Dwayne's guys will survive for your final kill too. If everything goes right, the ensuing explosion chain will take out all your enemies except one guy who flees by car. If this doesn't happen you'll need to try to explode any stragglers with Dwayne's car (which is why it is longer but better to take Jimmy's car previously in the mission.) Don't fire any shots near the dealership as it will attract the police. After this, there should be one (but occasionally two) guys in cars attempting to flee to the south. Jog down there and you will find one (or both) ramming into a wall. Walk up to them and convince him to get out by blasting his tires (if he doesn't get out on his own). Dwayne's guys will make short work of him after that, but if they died you can try calling the police or getting him to fire at his own vehicle until he explodes with it. At the end of the day you should have only one kill (from the shotgunner) and no stars. OBSOLETE: After a minute long chase they will eventually arrive at a car dealership, drive close enough to get the message 'kill them all' to trigger some of them to chase you. They'll jump out of the car and there will be seven guys total that you have to take down. A major complication is that there are four of them that Dwayne's guys or the police can't seem to kill. One of them will be coming at you with a shotgun, and three of them will be at the dealership. Any attempt by another person other than your self doesn't seem to do any damage. I tried to explode the shotgun guy and that didn't work either. OBSOLETE: Aside from those four particular guys, there are three that may be killed by Dwayne's friends or the police. Drive into an alley off the main road so you hopefully don't attract the police yet. The non-shotgun guy can be killed by Dwayne's guys. After they are down, there will be a guy in car who may either be attempting to run you down or driving away. Don't panic, he never gets very far and won't cause you to fail the mission. Use the car you got from Dwayne's guys to roll up next to him, and get out so your opponent will get out as well. He goes down pretty quickly from Dwayne's guys. OBSOLETE: There should be four guys left. Approach from the alley to the car dealership and pelt the guys down to two or less bars of life. The police may be on you at this point but don't restart because you eventually get two stars anyway regardless. One of the guys that is on the outer edge of the car dealer ship can be killed by Dwayne's guys, so let them do their thing. Finish off the other three. When they are dead you will get two stars attained (if you don't have two already). If the car you had from Dwayne's friends is totaled, you can potentially use the one that you chased around town to get away from the police. Running on foot takes a little longer but in my opinion is safer than accidentally picking the wrong car and it counting as a steal. Once you escape, one more kill and no stars. If that is the case, go back to your safe house and save. Phil Bell and Grevelli Gambetti will open up for you. ======================================================================= Mission 73: Catch The Wave [BEL2] PEOPLE KILLED: 42 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 3 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 27 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: optional Before anything make sure you have full health and armor, then take a cab to Phil Bell. You're going to steal a bunch of heroin for this mission. You can ride his car to the truck but you are better off locating a cab and taking that to the truck. Drive around to the boatyard; don't forget to pay the toll going over the bridge. When you get there, Phil will start talking to the guys guarding the H. Get out and get ready for a firefight. Everyone here can be knocked out, so do so without killing them. Beware the explosive barrels; Phil can shoot them without penalizing you however. Try to watch his back because he could die. There are many people above you so if you take some hits and can't discern the location, it's probably above you. There is some health on the left side of the interior, and armor also on your left outside near the boat. Ideally you'll have at least full body armor and a third of your health for the next part. Get in the boat - which will count as a steal - and follow Phil Bell. Soon you will have two boats with guys and automatics chasing you. Don't kill them or even shoot back. Position yourself between Phil Bell and your enemies so you and your boat soak the hits. This takes about a minute and a half, but they aren't good shots, so you should survive. After awhile your enemies will stop chasing you, and Phil will dock. The mission will be over and you shouldn't have any new crimes other than stealing a boat. Phil, Gambetti, and Jimmy will have missions for you at this point. But first, go home and save! ======================================================================= Mission 74: Trespass [BEL3] PEOPLE KILLED: 42 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 4 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 27 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: optional UPDATE: When you get to the building, watch the cutscene where Phil tells you that you can go underground. It makes the mission slightly easier. Go down there and look for a passage on the left side. Its best to have armor for this mission, so get some and save. Take a cab to Phil, he'll have a car for you again but you can take a cab if you see one before you reach the destination. This is a pretty touch mission but you can complete it without committing any new crimes. Go around the side and find the entrance. Shoot the door open if you know which one it is. Two guys will run outside so incapacitate them. Sometimes people on the sidewalk will shoot at you but you can just down them as well without killing them. Once inside, approach the second level carefully. There are approximately twenty guys in this building. There will be guys shooting you from all angles on your way up to the second floor. Sometimes a guy will enter behind you as you ascend the stares and start shooting at you with a pistol. When the second floor is clear, go to the third floor but be careful, once again there will be bad guys that can nail you from a few angles when you reach a certain point. Charlie will run off soon but don't run after him blindly; you won't lose the mission if you take a long time gunning the others down. When you get up to the fourth floor there will be a few guys utilizing cover, so shoot them in the leg or hands to make them stumble out. When they are all out of action, locate the window. The window will lead to the roof but you don't have to jump down quite yet, you can nail two guys from your vantage point pretty easily. There will be about ten or eleven guys on the roofs. Some of them will be on the edges of the roof and tend to tumble down when shot. One guy, however, will fall onto a wooden bridge without dying so you have to pelt him to unconsciousness. Don't feel pressured to chase Charlie; he'll wait for you while you shoot up the place. After you go up a couple ladders he will jump onto the chopper. Luckily the chopper will stay in place so Charlie can stabilize and climb into it, which takes him forever. Ignore the guy from the chopper shooting you (I hope you have more than half health left) and focus on the rear propeller. After more than half a clip from your assault rifle, the chopper will go down in a cut scene but none of the fires or kills will count against you. After it's all done, make your way back to the ground (or commit suicide) and take a cab to a safe house. You should have no new crimes. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 75: Flatline [PEG3] PEOPLE KILLED: 42 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 4 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 27 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: knife DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Get some armor and then take a cab to Jimmies. Turn right again at the receptionist's desk and get dressed in the scrubs. Don't run when you go to Anthony or you'll get shot at. Jump on his bed and stab him a couple times. Don't stab him too much or it will count against you. When you get the message to move quickly, sprint out of the hospital. There is some health to the right of the exit if you need it. UPDATE: It is much easier to pull the plug on his life support, which is to the right of the witness, than stab him. After you pull the plug, WALK out of the room and down the hallway (running tips off the police immediately). You'll pick up two stars before you exit the hallway but outrunning the police is much easier. A reminder: shooting the police is a no-no because it will put one more star on your record. Once outside, you have to evade the police. If you brought a car, you can use it to escape (or use a pay and spray). Otherwise, just sprint around some alleys until you lose them. When it's all said and done, you should have two more stars attained but no other crimes. Bernie's lover still seems to be getting blackmailed by Dimitri and the Russians. Your goal, however, is to protect a guy giving a speech on the threat the Russians represent as organized crime. Take a cab to the Grand Easton Terminal. Once there, you will have a car waiting. Bobby Jefferson, the speech giver, will get in behind you. Stay within the convoy, which is boring but you won't have to worry about pedestrians. At a road block you will be ambushed. The first thing you want to do is turn around and run north through the alley so all of your opponents are forced to face you from one direction instead of you being surrounded. Then, call Dwayne's boys and get them over to you. Next shoot the attackers on the roof, they will fall with one bullet and it won't count against you. After that, whittle down all your attackers to near death, then wait for Dwayne's people to arrive. UPDATE: tag the guys on the roof because they will fall down and die immediately, which doesn't count against you, and because Dwayne's guys aren't good at shooting people above them. The faster you act the better, because there are other agents that can assist you but they die eventually. There is health in the alley behind you where you started if you need it, or you can call an ambulance. When they get there, use their car and have them clean up the riff raff. Don't get any finishing shots or it will count against you. More reinforcements show up when a certain amount die, so try to whittle them down before Dwayne's guys have to deal with them. Remember, they tend to be more accurate and don't have any injury animation while in either their car or one of the convoy's cars. Ideally they will all be dead before Dwayne's guys die, but if they aren't you can try finishing them off. For some reason you can take down some of them without it counting against you, but most will crook and you will have to restart. There are three waves total (beware, some spawn next to you sometimes) but it is quite possible to injure them all while having Dwayne's boys or security clean them up so there or no crimes on your hands. After this Bobby will come out of hiding and hop in whatever you vehicle you have, so make sure you aren't moving or it'll count as a person run down. Try and get a fresh car for the last part, you have to lose some more guys. Generally it's better to zig zag around town through tight areas so they crash a lot, but it's also possible just to pick one direction and gun it as fast as you can, which I have done with one blown tire, but your mileage may vary. After you lose the Russians, carefully take Bobby to the destination. After a conversation with Gambetti Gravelli, Check your stats to make sure you don't have any more crimes, and then go to a safe house to save. ======================================================================= Mission 77: To Live and Die in Alderny [BEL4] PEOPLE KILLED: 42 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 4 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 29 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: yes UPDATE: I've been having trouble doing consistent runs when calling Dwayne's guys before the chase. They occasionally blast the first car until guys roll out and I hit them, or cause police cars chasing to stop which forces me to evade the police and immediately get two more stars. However, calling them after getting to the alley means they forget how to enter a car with you, and won't be effective in dealing with the police. The happy medium? Before entering the alley after the chase, call Dwayne up and get his guys over. Stay in the police radius while driving back and forth to avoid the police. Frankie also has some stopping power of his own if a patrolman gets in your face on foot. Just make sure you one of Dwayne's guys who has the automatic in your car before you enter the alley, he is crucial to your success in the ensuing firefight. Any of the two guys who enter your car before you enter the alley will later enter any car you get into. This mission is my new nemesis, I forgot how easy it is for one thing to go wrong and cause a restart. This is one of the harder missions, but you have experienced worse. If need be, rest a couple times (go to bed without saving) so Dwayne's friends will be ready to help you again when you call them. Get some armor and Take a cab to Phil's. You can take his intruder again to the old mansion until you run into a cab. When your ready to roll, you will find a trunk full of Phil's contraband, and you'll get two stars immediately. Go after Phil; don't hit any feds on your way out. It's better to let the one Fed run up to the car, and then you should back out and go around him. Stay directly behind Phil so the police never lose sight of you, or else your going to have to stay in their sight so that you don't evade the police and have them find you again (which will happen when you approach Phil, and you'll get more stars this way, aka restart). There is one part with a major road between Berchiem and Alderny City where you really have to stay on Phil's butt or you will lose the police then have them spot you and you will have to restart. Generally you'll run around southbound for a bit, but after a couple minutes Phil will call and say he is gonna bail on foot, which you should do as well. This part requires much skill and luck, you will probably end up doing this over ten tries. If you look at your stats during the chase, be aware there is a fade- out and fade-in period where the game is still running but you can't see completely, so make sure you are punching the gas when pausing and unpausing. UPDATE: as noted above, make sure you get Dwayne's guys in your car before entering the alley. You'll get involved in a heavy firefight in an alley way. Your stars will soon become three. If you haven't called Dwayne's posse over at this point, do so now (they will be reluctant to get into any cars however if you waited this long. Your primary objective is to make sure Bell doesn't die, but you also can't get the last shot on any of the police or SWAT. You can, however, take their police cars when the opportunity presents it self, which will help Dwayne's friends immensely since they have better aim in a car (I recommend just sprinting forward and taking the first one while taking a bullet or two. After you take enough police and SWAT down, Bell and Frankie will take off. Follow Bell and Frankie up the stairs to the van. Frankie will die at some point so get the heroin (update: he doesn't have to die but it doesn't matter if he does or doesn't, you just have to grab the H. DON'T blow up the helicopter, when you get the message to shoot it the helicopter just hop in the van instead to trigger the escape phase. You can try to escape in the van or get into a faster car such as a police vehicle you probably recently appropriated. Now it will be a standard chase sequence, more cars will spawn as will pedestrians, so be careful. Make your way to a pay and spray unless you have a police car, in which case you're going to have to evade them the old fashioned way. Generally with three stars its okay if a lot of them catch up to you (as long as you or Ray don't die) because when you speed off, more can't spawn in front of you since they are too many already behind you. However you evade them, take Bell to his safe house, then take a cab to a safe house of your own. Check to make sure you have no other crimes aside from the three stars you have attained, and then save. Jimmy's thread will open back up to you as well. ======================================================================= Mission 78: Dining Out [GAM2] PEOPLE KILLED: 42 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 4 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 32 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: yes Dwayne's guys should be available to you (sleep once) but body armor is also a good idea for this mission. Grab a cab to Gambetti Gravelli. He'll have a lead on Darko Brevic for you, but first you'll have to take out some Korean counterfeiters, one of which is Kim from earlier in the game. Head over to Mr. Fuk's restaurant by cab. When you get there you will be rejected, but go ahead to the right anyway. There will be a lot of guys with automatics, most of them with high powered assault rifles. Try to get away from the entrance because sometimes the police will come, which means a restart for you. You can take them all out without killing them. When you reach the second landing, some guys will spawn on the upper floor behind you so beware. When you reach the manager point a gun at him and he will say Kim left. Take the armor and exit. Two more guys will be here from the kitchen area, with more inside the kitchen which is directly across from you. Take them down as well. Try not to blast the chef. In the kitchen there is health, as you approach a red dot will appear which will be Kim, so chase him down. When you get to the fire escape, jump to the ground even though you take some damage. Grab the bike as it won't count as a steal. Don't chase him immediately, dial up Dwayne's guys and then start chasing. Don't ride Kim too much because his body will blast you with a pistol. After a minute or so Dwayne's guys will appear with their car (hopefully - otherwise you need to wait until Kim passes one of your safe houses with one of your cars). When they catch up get off your bike and get in their car as fast as possible, and go after Kim but don't run over Dwayne's guys or anybody else. After you catch back up to Kim, Dwayne's guys will shoot up the passenger with a pistol. They won't finish the job for some reason however so ram Kim for a few minutes. He won't jump out until his car catches on fire, and he will burn to death. His death, the fire, nor the ensuing explosion(s) will count against you. Find a cab and go back to your safe house. You shouldn't have any new crimes. Save. ======================================================================= Mission 79: Liquidize the Assets [GAM3] PEOPLE KILLED: 42 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 4 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 32 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: optional Cab it over Gambetti at the hospital. You have to destroy some vans full of cocaine that the Russians have. Take another cab over to the compound in Alderny City. Before walk to the marker, make sure you should have plenty of assault rifle ammo and body armor for the next part. You can also call Dwayne's guys to back you up. You can take their car and bash the fence down if they have trouble climbing it. There is also a random car for the taking next to the fence that you can use; it's unlocked and doesn't count as a steal. Approach the fence when you are ready to fight. There are about twenty guys on the ground and ten on the roof with various weaponry. This part is very important and maybe a good argument for not bring Dwayne's boys along - Make sure that when you shoot somebody unconscious, their body doesn't block the path of the van. That includes the main alleyway as well as the parking spots where they start out. If one of the vans is blocked by a body you can still complete the mission without committing any crime but it's a tricky endeavor. Generally, you are better off gunning them down on foot instead of letting your friend's do all the dirty work from a car; you can die pretty quickly from all the fire. Sometimes you can look at what Dwayne's friends are shooting at in order to pinpoint your enemies, in addition to trying to lock on cycling. Don't use the sniper rifle because it will count as a kill if you get the last shot in with it. For some reason ambulances don't show up here when called (at least not for me) so don't be a hero and try and conserve your health. Half way up the alleys you will see body armor on some boxes before the alleys turn to your right. There is also a ladder before the body armor if you want to reach the roofs to get better positioning on your enemies. When you get close to the van parked farthest away, two guys will open a door adjacent to it and two more guys will appear on the rooftops. Also close to the last van, there is some health on the wall behind a dumpster if you are facing south (The direction the final van is facing). Once everyone is taken out and you don't hear any gunfire, run to the van that is farthest away at the end of the alley. If none of the vans are blocked in by any bodies, drive the van to a location where there aren't any bodies, preferably out of the alleyways completely. Do the same with all the other vans. If one of the vans was blocked in by a body, you're going to have to park the other vans as close as possible to it. As long as a van is bumper to bumper with another van, you can also set up an explosive domino effect. Tilting back on the right analog stick will make it easier to see objects such as bodies directly in front of you, since you get a birds-eye view. With the last van, unload some rifle bullets into the front of it where the grill is until you start to see black smoke. Usually the black smoke will start after slightly less than a full 30 bullet clip. Get in the van, get near the other vans and ram the van you are driving a couple times into a wall until you see some light fire. You now will have about fifteen seconds before the van will explode, so park the van next to the other vans and sprint away. Fifteen seconds isn't a lot of time but it's enough to deal with positioning the van correctly and giving you time to escape. If the vans were positioned correctly, they will all eventually explode and none of this will count against you in terms of killing anybody nearby or fires started. After the assets are liquidized, take a cab to a safe house and make sure no new crimes were committed. Congrats, the Gambetti mission thread is done. Let Dwayne's guys take everyone out, then follow Ray quickly. He'll drive to Broker, consult your map to pick the right highway routes. Ram Ray's car until it gets jammed up and can't move easily, then get out and shoot out their tires. They should get out once they can't move and Dwayne's guys should take them out, but you can get back in your car to speed up the process. When you get on the boat there are some with assault rifles that can hit you at very long ranges (longer than you can target them with your assault rifle) so it may help to hide behind certain objects so they aren't in your line of site. When approaching, listen to make sure shots aren't really loud because it could mean someone is really close to you and can snap off much of your health. On the north end of the boat (to the right of where you board it) there is some body armor if you climb a couple ladders. Once you make it to the south end you can enter the kitchen area where there will be three guys. Once they are taken care of you can grab some health on the counter. There will be a guy on the stairs leading up. At the top of the stairs there will be three guys that tend to blind fire, so shoot their hands and make them stumble around. It's generally better take out the closest ones first and to expose yourself to one of them at a time before moving on to your next target. There is body armor in the second room to the right. You can go outside to the right or the left, but when you do beware a guy that will roll out into your view. Wait till he stands a bit before you shoot him or you may risk getting a head shot. There will also be quite a few guys above and behind you as you move into the open, so when you hear fire, turn around and light them up. There will be a guy in the control room; after he is taken down there will be a cut scene that opens the cargo bay. After this scene many enemies will spawn in places that you have already cleaned, so don't be complacent on your way out. The health and body armor also respawn after this scene. Take the ten or so guys out on your way back down to the cargo area (it should be easier to get down than up since you can jump off the sides). Before you jump into the cargo area below, shoot the guys that you can see from your vantage point. Depending which part you jump down, you could take some fall damage so try to find a location that isn't a far jump. When you get down there will be a few more guys, there is some health in the back (on the north end) if you need it. Once you approach Dimitri, four guys will spawn and start shooting you. Either shoot back right away or find more efficient cover. Some of them will advance on you so I recommend taking out the guy with the shot gun first if it is convenient to do so. You don't actually have to take all of them out. Dimitri blind fires quite a bit, once the initial heat dies down and you have your bearings straight, you can get pretty far away and climb on one of the boxes and its very unlikely that Dimitri will hit you. If he does it won't do much damage, and from that distance you can snipe Dimitri in the head at your leisure. After about ten hits, a scene will occur and you have the opportunity to execute Dimitri. Get out your pistol and do so. Once he is dead anybody you left alive on the boat will vanish, so go up to the deck and jump off the boat back to land. The mission will be over, your revenge complete. Take a cab home. You shouldn't have any new crimes to your name. Save. The next mission you will have for picking this path will be Out of Commission. DEAL - If the Price is Right: [DEA1] The mission you will have for deciding to deal with Dimitri will be to work with Phil Bell and sell the heroin. Take a cab over there and enter the docks. In a shocking turn of events, Dimitri betrayed you. Follow Phil around to the roof. Phil will shoot some glass and jump down, so follow him. There will be a few guys shooting at you as you land. Blast them all, prioritize the closest ones first. Try to make sure Phil isn't getting shot up. Remember not to kill anybody; you can knock all of these guys out. Make your way to the yellow marker. As you go down you will find enemies spawning above and below you. At some point Phil Bell will run off up some stairs. There is some health in front of those stairs if you need it, be sure to follow Phil though. After about fifteen more guys attacking you from various angles, Phil will break through a door. A guy will be running off with all the money, so chase him down. Don't feel too pressured, you have time to shoot any remaining guys on your way back down. When get outside he will drive away in a big van, so grab the truck and go after him. Drive around the compound after him. As usual be careful not to hit anybody. Let Phil do the shooting. Try to dodge the barrels that fall out, and beware the environment that seems to impede you from the van driver's reckless driving. There are a couple scripted events but they shouldn't hold you up for too long. After Phil blasts the van for awhile it will start to go on fire and the guy with the money will get out and start shooting you. Phil doesn't seem to hurt him, so peck him in the leg a couple times so he will stay near the van when it blows up. If the van explosion doesn't kill him your gonna have to get creative to get that money without committing any more crimes. When he explodes, grab the cash without getting you or Phil on fire. Take Phil back home. After he runs off the mission is over, so check your stats. You shouldn't have any new crimes, go to a safe house and save. Skip the next mission because that is the one after Revenge, the last one below that will be for you. ======================================================================= Mission 83: REVENGE PATH - Out of Commission [REV2] PEOPLE KILLED: 42 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 4 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 32 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 CAR: no WEAPONS: assault rifle recommended DWAYNE'S ABILITY: no Put on a nice suite and black loafers. After a few phone calls, you'll be expected to pick up Kate. Grab any car you have and go there. Once you pick her up you can get out when you see a cab and take it to the wedding. Jimmy shoots Kate and you run off, you will find yourself at the South Bohan safe house. Little Jacob will call you with a plan, so go to the car where he and Roman will be waiting. It's not the easiest car to drive, get used to the physics - it tends to drift around. You'll chase after Jimmy's goons around the city for a couple minutes; you can't kill them yet so just follow him around. They occasionally make a few unexpected moves so don't follow too closely. Eventually they'll stop at the old casino. Little Jacob and Roman will run off, so you have to take these guys out on your own. Dwayne won't help you here either. Knocking them out should be second nature for you. If at any time you die or fail, you can restart the mission at this point without having to chase them around town again (but you will have to restart if you kill somebody). They have some decent weapons, so don't be a hero. You're mostly going to have to shoot them through car windows or shoot their feet to get them out of cover. The cars tend to blow up really easily so be careful not to hit them. There are also three or so guys on the roofs, they tend to fall off fairly readily. You can climb the hill to your left if you want to get a better vantage point on some of them. Don't hesitate to climb up that same hill and call an ambulance by the road if you are low on health. Once you make it to the interior there will be about five more. Shoot the guys that you can see from outside, and once you enter immediately take out the guy on your left that is on the stairs. To the right of the stairs is health which you may need at this point. As you approach Jimmy you guys will exchange words and he will sprint away. Follow him to the rooftop, where he will have three or four guys that tend to fall off the roof when shot. You can jump off and take some damage or slide down the ladder. Jimmy's reinforcements will arrive at this point; don't rush to take them out (there are maybe ten of them, mostly with assault weapons). After you run up to Jimmy who is starting up a boat, another car enemies will show up. You can take them down or ignore them and descend do the dock. Grab the bike that is waiting for you, it doesn't count as a steal. Follow Jimmy around on the coast of the water, but not too close since you can get shot by his automatic. The chase on bike takes about two minutes, sometime after the one minute mark there is a jump that requires you to gain some speed. After that there will be a ramp that you can use to land on to the helicopter Little Jacob and Roman are in. If you wait till long you'll miss the jump so go full throttle when you notice it. Jam A repeatedly to climb onto the chopper. Follow the boat but don't bother shooting at it. Eventually you'll get tagged by a missile and crash land on Happiness Island. Chase Jimmy down, he'll have some guys on the Island so shoot them. The police will be alerted at some point and you'll get a couple stars, but they won't really interfere. Shoot Jimmy in the chest until he goes down. Niko will talk some smack before he ends his misery. Check your stats. You should have two more stars but no other crimes. If that is the case, then congratulations! You have successfully conquered the Pacifist Niko Challenge. Here are the ending stats you should have (or perhaps even less if you know something I don't!) After you take them down, you can jump off and take some damage or slide down the ladder. Dimitri will be taking off in a helicopter, so sprint for the boat. Put away your assault rifle so you run faster. He'll fire at you with missiles and bullets but don't let it deter you. Also, don't panic getting in because if you mess up Dimitri will probably get away. Furthermore, if you get in the boat and he does escape, you will have to restart completely because it counts as a steal. Follow Dimitri around on the northern coast of the island. Don't concern your self too much about getting shot by the chopper, but if you find yourself taking damage back off a bit. After a minute or so Jacob will arrive in a chopper, so get under him. Jam the A button when you leap off the boat to get into the helicopter. Follow Dimitri's chopper but don't bother shooting at it, just concentrate on flying after him. Don't forget to save! ENDING STATS! PEOPLE KILLED: 42 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 5 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 34 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 ********************* FINAL THOUGHTS [FIN1] ************************* V1.50 final thoughts: Did pretty much what I expected, netting thirty less kills but only four less stars. Chungarunga has done some pretty marvelous stuff with the PS3 version that I have yet to Verify, but I'm going to quote some of his methods and post the theoretical ending stats - assuming I can replicate them on the XBOX 360 (and assuming I have the talent to do so, some of this is pretty tricky). Furthermore, I don't think he is quite done, indicating he may be able to get those kills lower still. In my next version I intend to replicate what he has done. Below are specifics on what he has improved upon and his posts on the PS3 boards (search for crimeless, not on the social boards). EVERYTHING BELOW IS ALL QUOTED FROM CHUNGARUNGA AND NOT MY PERSONAL WORK. V1.51 update: Incredibly enough, Chungarunga managed to beat this game on the PS3 version without any kills. Go to the PS3 GTA4 boards (not the social ones) and search for crimeless. He has typed out all his strategies there, which I will verify work with the XBOX 360. Below is a mere fraction of what he has accomplished. Once verified, I will quote his exact words and type in my own additions if I deem it necessary. ======================================================================= Mission 12: Concrete Jungle - six less kills. "Finally i have completed "Concrete Jungle" with 0 kills. Preparation for this mission involves getting a Firetruck and a bike and storing them in the parking space. Get in the Firetruck and go to the alleyway. Now use the water cannon to spray those guys into a corner and keep ramming the truck into a wall while spraying them. If the truck breaks down without exploding stop spraying, press up on the d-pad and start spraying them again. Now you can enter 911 to start the Firetruck up again. When it's burning corner all three of the targets and make sure that all of them will die or else you'll have to start this all over again. When they are dead go to Jacob and take a Taxi trip to the bike. After getting the bike go to the house where the rest of the gang is. Ride into the arrow and when Jacob jumps off start ramming the bike into walls until it's smoking black. Now go to the door. It will take some luck to kill this first guy on the stairs. I suggest to use an Assault rifle. Shoot him a few times in the upper part of his leg, this will make him climb a bit higher. When he's low on health shoot him in the foot. He should fall down the stairs and the gravity should kill him but as i said this involves some luck. Now go the bike and ram it until it's burning. Ride into the room where everyone else are while shooting the Shotgun guy's legs or wait until he is reloading. Leave the bike in the middle of all three guys and run for the health which is on the kitchen table. If all goes well then they should explode along with the bike." ======================================================================= Mission 29: Luck of the Irish - 8 less kills ""Luck of the Irish" done with 0 kills. You can't incapacitate anyone here but i have another strategy. When you are in the sniping position you will notice that there are two red barrels. These are barrels not orange propane tanks. Anyway these won't count as kills if you shoot them. One of them is to the right and other is at the back and to the left. Shoot the one that is to the right of you as soon as the shootout starts. It will kill two or three guys. Now concentrate on Packie because one guy will attack him. If you shoot this guy in the foot in won't be considered as a kill. After this is done another wave of enemies will come. It's time to shoot the second barrel as soon as they are running past it. Only one guy will be left and he will run to the van. Shoot the van until it starts smoking black and let Packie and his boy to shoot it till it starts burning. The van explodes, mission complete." ======================================================================= Mission 34: Deconstruction for Beginners - 2 less kills "Deconstruction for Beginners" done with 0 kills. Everyone in this mission are incapacitable except for the four main targets. Go to the roof with X and take out three lookouts. After this is done aim to the place where the second main target will be and take out those guys by shooting their legs. Go back to the street and aim at the first foreman. There is a red barrel next to him. Shoot it and he will die. Second and third foremen will be a bit harder to kill. It seems like exploding vehicles don't damage them but they are walkable. Incapacitate all regular guys and shoot the second foreman in the leg with an Assault Rifle. He will fall on the ground and now run over him with Niko until he dies. The same applies to the third foreman. The fourth will be easy. Shoot him in the back while he's climbing the ladder. I will post strategies to missions where Micskill had to kill someone. ======================================================================= Mission 31: The Puerto Rican Connection - 1 less kill "The Puerto Rican Connection" - 0 kills. Get a car and follow the train to its destination. Once you're there cover the entrance from where the targets will come out with a car and get out. They can't be incapacitated but they are walkable and cops can kill them. They will mindlessly bump into a car without realising that there is a an obstacle in front of them. Now call 911 and go near the targets. After maybe 30 seconds they will start to shoot you and will attract police attention. The main guy without a weapon will run to the opposite direction but the rest will fight with cops. Chase that guy and walk him to the death, if the rest are still alive call for more backup. ======================================================================= Mission 37: Photo Shoot - 1 less kill "Photo Shoot" - 0 kills After taking a photo of the group wait till X calls. Shoot the target with a sniper rifle to times in the leg. It won't count as a kill. ======================================================================= Ending stats utilizing Chungarunga's amazing work: PEOPLE KILLED: 24 CARS STOLEN: 0 BIKES STOLEN: 0 BOATS STOLEN: 4 HELICOPTERS STOLEN: 1 STARS ATTAINED: 34 PEOPLE RUN DOWN: 0 FIRES STARTED: 0 CRIMINALS KILLED: 0 42 kills (my final score) - 18 kills (using Chungarunga's improvements) = 24 kills. Ridiculous. If someone were playing normally, they could easily exceed that kill count on a mission such as Three Leaf Clover alone (bank heist mission). Disclaimer: While I haven't detected any coding differences when it comes to tracking crime stats between the XBOX 360 or the PS3, I could be wrong and it is possible that there are some tricks you can do in the PS3 version that can't be replicated on the XBOX 360. In my next version I will test Chungarunga's methods and verify them. ============================================================================= V1.00 final thoughts: I am certain this run can be more efficient crime wise. The waste Not Want Knots mission comes to mind, there is probably a way around killing the three guys on the walkway. I also feel like utilizing Dwayne's men sooner may result in a few less deaths in a few missions. Perhaps some creative explosions or utilizing the environment can also help. In the end I suspect this run could be improved more then twenty less kills and six less stars attained. I need help however. If you can find a more efficient way to do a mission than I, please shoot me an email with a detailed explanation of the particular mission and your method. I will, of course, give credit where credit is due. I started the Pacifist Niko game intending to commit zero crimes. I don't think it's possible at this time, but who knows? Credits: [CRE1] 1.
