      INTRODUCTION
o---------------------o

Kinect Sports is a game that was made Kinect for the XBOX 360 and I'm not
surprised that it is a possible jab towards Nintendo Wii who's free game is
also a sports game called Wii Sports. Instead of using a controller to play,
you use your body to play the game which I find is dope. Just be sure the
Kinect syncs with your body right. For the record, Sony did the same thing with
Sports Championship using The Move + Eye Toy.

       OVERVIEW
o---------------------o

Okay folks, put down them damn controllers and get in front of the Kinect and
be ready to play as yourself (I swear that should have been the slogan for
the Kinect). That's right, you are the controller this time around and whatever
you do, your avatar will mirror. Kinect Sports is here to work you into athletic
shape.

o---------------------o
         GAMES
o---------------------o

There are 6 major games included in Kinect Sports:

Bowling
Boxing
Soccer (Called Football)
Beach Volleyball
Table Tennis
Track and Field

Track and Field is broken into five categories (six if you include pentahlon):
Hurdles, Sprint, Javelin, Discus Throw, and Long Jump.

There is also downloadable content which are enhancements of the above sports.

Minigames are playable as well for most sports.

o---------------------o
        CONTROLS
o---------------------o

Hold your hand forward and use it as a cursor.

Raise your arms above your head to begin all games.

o---------------------o
       GAMEPLAY
o---------------------o

When a game is finished, the player will level up or get in the process of
doing so. Also, the game will also show how the actual player (real world that
is) looked like while playing the game. Other words, the player gets to see how
much of a fool he or she makes out him or herself.

+---------------------+
        BOWLING
+---------------------+

The only sport where one gets a strike and has nothing to do with baseball. In
fact, getting a strike is the best thing to happen to you. The ultimate goal in
bowling is to knock down all ten pins in one shot.

Choose to play against the computer or up to four players. The two player one
can also be done over XBOX Live.

You start by sticking your arm out to the left or right (whatever hand you want
to bowl with) to grab a ball, your best shot at getting a strike is to aim for
the center of the lane. It will not always work but most strikes are gotten
this way. The arrows indicate the general direction might travel before you
throw it. When ready, tilt your arm back and throw it forward. If you fail to
get a strike, you can go for a spare (knock the all the remaining pins down on
the second try).

There are 10 frames. You get two tries each frame to knock all the pins down. I
already explained the strikes and spares concept. If you fail to knock them all
down in two tries then your frame only counts the number of pins knocked down
as your score for that frame. If you get a spare, you score 10 points plus the
value of the first roll in the next frame. So a Spare followed by a 9 on the
first roll is 19 but a strike makes it worth 20. Strikes are worth 10 points
plus your next two rolls so you can get uo to 30 points a strike. This is why
a perfect game is called a 300. The 10th (final) frame is split into three
tries and up to this point you got on the first try. In order to count it in
full, two bonus tries. Same concept with a spare on the final frame. The bonus
try is to get the value of the spare. Gutter ball are worth nothing. So are the
balls that hit the back without touching a pin.

+---------------------+
        BOXING
+---------------------+

#Hit em' wit a left. Hit em' wit a right. Put em' up ***** cuz' we gonna have a
fight. I hit ya with jab and I hit ya with a hook. Now go to the mirror and
see how ya look. Ya thought ya was cool cuz' all ya wore was silk. Now my lil'
two fists will make ya drink ya momma's milk. 1-2-3-4-5 stay down and stay
alive. 6-7-8-9-10. I win.#

The task at hand is to defeat your opponet either by Knock Out or by Decision.
Choose to play against a computer opponent or another player on XBOX Live or on
the Kinect where both players share a half of the Kinect's Range. You are given
a tutorial on how to play but you can drag your hand over to the skip icon to
move forward.

After you raise your arms above your head, you are ready to fight. The game is
played from behind your character. Punch high to hit the opponent in the face
and punch low to hit the opponent in the gut. There are also the uppercut which
you punch in an upward motion and a haymaker where you hold your arm to the
side and swing at the opponent (in other words you are using a hook shot motion
to attack).

When one fighter gets damaged, his or her health meter can restore itself as
long as no further damage is taken within a second. So that means if you are on
offense, keep attacking the opponent while he or she is still off-balance to
increase the damage. On defense, hold your hands close to your body and raise
or lower them to block incoming punches. If you get knocked down, you can get
back up by punching the stars.

Blocking is real crucial. Not only do you use it to protect yourself from hits
but you can use it to make your punches more powerful. Block the punch, so you
can store a power punch. You can store up to three levels then swing with all
your might for maximum damage.

If a fighter goes down three times in a fight then it's labeled a TKO. If the
fighter fails to get up at the count of 10 or is so hell bent out of shape then
it's a KO. After all rounds are over, the one who dealt the most damage is the
winner by decision.

+---------------------+
   SOCCER (FOOTBALL)
+---------------------+

This game is downright stupid. I'm not dissing the game soccer itself as I am
a fan but Kinect Soccer sucks. You can play against the computer, or with a 2nd
player in co-op mode, or play against the opponent over XBOX Live as it would
be too complicated to do a 2-player vs. game on the console.

You play one five-minute period. Rather than dribble the ball down the field
and play some real soccer, you are stuck playing pass the hot potato around. On
offense, you will see arrows point in the possible directions to pass to. Try
to pass to a teammate that is being unguarded or it will be intercepted by the
opponent. It's even a good pass if you make the pass ahead of the teammate so
they can meet the ball at its destination. When within shooting range, kick the
ball at an angle where the goalie can't stop the ball. Most of the times, the
ball will bounce off the CPU goalie's hand and into the goal.

On defense, against the computer you got a total advantage. There is a gray
line that indicates where their pass is going to go. All you have to do is step
on the line to intercept the ball and be back on offense. If the opponent is
within shooting range, there is an indicator to show where the ball will go and
you can block it.

If the ball goes out of bounds, the opposing team will inbound it and if the
ball goes out behind the goal post via the defending player (goes off the hand
of the goalie), the offensive team performs what is called a Corner Kick. This
provides the player a chance to perform a header where the shot on goal is done
using their head.

After time runs out, the game runs on extra time but I doubt it is really even
necessary since I haven't seen any injuries occur.

+---------------------+
    BEACH VOLLEYBALL
+---------------------+

#Let's hit the beach and have fun. Where everybody goes just to lay in the sun.
Where children run and play in the sand. Where the ocean meets land. Amidst all
this, people are having a ball because going on is a 2 on 2 game of Beach
Volleyball.#

Choose to play against the computer with a CPU-controlled partner or you can
go at with another player against the computer or if you have XBOX Live, you
can face each other similar to the 1-player game with the partner controlled by
the CPU.

Your CPU partner, thank goodness is a valuable asset as it is good at going
after shots that you think you might miss. But don't rely to much on it though
as it is not totally flawless.

Just like regular volleyball, there is a serve to start a game, so toss a ball
into the air and swat at it to the other side of the net. Offense will perform
a hit, followed by a lift, and then the spike. During the spike, the defense
has a chance to block it. If the ball touches the ground while inbounds, the
offensive team is awarded a point but if the ball went out of bounds or didn't
clear the net, then the defense is awarded the point instead. The first team to
7 is the winner but there is a catch. The winning side must win by two or more
points so if both sides have 6, then the winner is the one who gets 8 while the
other team still has 6. That means if the opponent gets 7, the winner must get
9 and so forth.

+---------------------+
     TABLE TENNIS
+---------------------+

This is another game that everyone has played at least once in their lives. It
is a game of Table Tennis also known as Ping Pong. This is the sport that even
inspired the arcade game, Pong.

Choose to go against the computer or against another opponent via XBOX Live.

Start the game by holding your hand to the left or right depending on your
dominant hand. The dominant hand is what you will hit the ball with and the
other hand is what you will use to toss the ball up to serve with. The first
person to reach 11 points is the winner. As with Beach Volleyball, the winner
but beat the opponent by 2 points. If both opponents are tied at 10, a Deuce
is declared and the first to get a 2 point advantage wins.

When the ball is in play, swat at the ball normally if the ball is on your
dominant side and if it is on your opposite hand side, use a backhand to hit
the ball. If you hit the ball hard enough, you can smash the ball and it will
make the opponent stuggle to hit the ball. If the ball goes out of bounds after
hitting the opponents side of the net, you get the point. But if it fails to
hit the other side before going out or if it hits the net ends up back on your
side then the opponent scores.

+---------------------+
    TRACK AND FIELD
+---------------------+

You go through a pentathlon but you can tackle each individual event as a
mini-game.

Sprint
------
This is a 100-meter dash. You can piss off your opponents by flailing your arms
around and here a lot of funny comments from them before the match starts. You
and a second player can stand side by side and play. When the gun goes off, run
in place as fast as you can to try to get first place.

Javelin
-------
Choose your dominant hand then hold back as if gearing up to throw the javelin.
Wait until you are in the green area, and heave the javelin forward before you
step over the line or it is a foul. If your throwing technique is perfect then
you will have a good throw. It all depends on timing and angle of the throw.
You got three chances to make an impression here.

Discus Throw
------------
Pick your dominant hand and then reach back and toss the discus forward. If you
get a good enough angle, you can get a far throw. You have three tries to win.

Long Jump
---------
Run in place to get up to speed then when you reach the line, jump into the air
without going over or it will be a foul. All you got to do is jump straight up
and the game will do the rest. You must time it good because that will decide
if you do a long jump or a horrible jump. The distance is measure by the back
point of the landing spot. You are given three tries.

Hurdles
-------
Similar to the Sprint except you have to jump over some hurdles on route to the
finish line. Don't try running in place before the match or you'll get a false
start. As you may know from playing track n' field related games or watching it
on TV. Too many false starts lead to an automatic disqualification. When the
meet starts, run in place and be sure to jump at the right time. Not to early
and not too late or you'll knock over the hurdle and lose precious time. First
to the finish line wins. You know when you can jump when the hurdle turns green
and you have good enough distance to clear it.

After all events are done, the final points are tallied and the 1st, 2nd, and
3rd place finishers are shown on the podium.
