Story
Deep in the southernmost region of the kingdom of Hyrule lies a village by
the name of Ordon. Cradled in the scenic beauty of pristine farmland, the
villagers of Ordon make a living by raising livestock. Among the villagers
is a boy known as the most skillful rider in all the land. A boy who, it is
expected, will one day take over the responsibility of leading Ordon as the
village chief. His name is Link...
Trusted and liked by all the villagers, Link is especially loved by the
other children of Ordon, among whom he holds unofficial status as the leader
of the pack. Link spends his days as a ranch hand and learns the ways of the
sword from the village's lone swordsman, Rusl, in his spare time. He often
displays his newly honed skills to the village youths, which makes him even
more popular.
One day Link is showing off his swordsmanship as usual, when a monkey
appears. "Hey! That's the monkey that's been causing trouble all over the
village! Let's get him," cry the children. They run after the monkey into
the forest. Link rushes into the heart of the woods after them and is
shocked to find that the dark thickets are teeming with countless monsters.
After fighting his way through their ranks, Link rescues the child and the
monkey from the cage where they are held captive.
Until now, the forest had always been a safe place...
The next day, after much encouragement by Rusl, Link prepares to set out and
deliver the village's tribute to Hyrule Castle. Having never visited the
castle before, Link is in high spirits as he prepares for his journey, but
when his childhood friend Ilia notices a wound on Epona's haunch, she gives
Link an earful for being so careless with his horse. In a huff, Ilia leads
Epona away.
Link tracks down Epona and Ilia at the mystical spring nearby and attempts
to apologize for injuring Epona. But no matter how many times he says he's
sorry, Ilia simply refuses to forgive Link. Then Colin, a young boy from the
village who idolizes Link, steps forward to mediate the situation. Thanks to
Colin's explanation, Link is finally able to get Ilia to drop her guard and
talk with him. Having warmed back up, Ilia tells Link, "Come back safely,
and don't do anything reckless!"
Just then...
A monster astride a huge boar comes crashing out of the forest. The fearsome
monster and its mount break through the gate to the spring and attack the
youths.
Caught off guard by the sudden assault, Link is helpless to stop the monster
from delivering a blow that renders him unconscious. Through the fog of his
half-conscious mind, Link watches Colin and Ilia get swept off by the
monster...

*Walkthrough*
Introduction
The opening scene shows Link talking to a fellow villager named Rusl
alongside a pond. He will ask you to do him a favor, and bring something to
Hyrule Castle in his place. Rusl says that Link should go out in the world
and see all of Hyrule. Following this, Rusl decides to call it a night and
suggests you head back to the village, so you both leave the area with Epona
in tow. Link will leave Epona outside of his house, at which point a girl
named Ilia will take Epona to a nearby spring.
Link's House
The next scene will show a man who you will later know as Fado calling for
Link outside of the house to help him herd the goats. He will ask where
Epona is, and then Link will come outside. You will now have control of Link
at this point. Walk forward and talk to Fado, and he will tell you to go get
Epona. Take the path going to the northeast (look at the onscreen map) to
reach the next area.
Ordon Woods
Here, go north until you reach an intersection. Then, go east to the large
body of water on your map, for that is the spring. There, talk to Ilia, who
has taken the liberty of washing Epona for you. Talk to her a second time
and she will ask you to pick up a blade of grass and whistle with it. Pick
the nearby patch of grass and blow with it to whistle Epona's song. After
that, talk to Ilia again before climbing onto Epona.
Now that you can ride Epona, make your way back to the southern area by the
house. Since Fado has gone ahead, continue down the path into Ordon Village.
Ordon Village
When you arrive aboard Epona, follow the dirt path to the southern half of
the village. Cross the stream and head up the hill into the Ordon Ranch (we
will return to explore the village shortly).
Ordon Ranch
In this area, approach Fado and he will ask you to herd the goats into the
barn for him. Say yes and this mini-game of sorts will begin. There will be
10 goats roaming around the pasture; to herd them, simply ride around,
pressing A to speed up slightly, chasing the goats around to the barn. When
they get close to the barn door, they will automatically go inside. After
you herd all of the goats into the barn, Fado will thank you for your help.
He will then put up a couple of fences if you want to ride around freely
with Epona. When you are ready to leave, hop over the fence at the edge of
the ranch and you will go back to the village. At this point, you will be
prompted to save your game, too.
Link's House
The next morning, some children will call for Link outside of his house.
When you get control, climb down the ladders to the ground level, then exit
the house. Outside, go down the ladder and talk to the group of kids who
will talk about the Slingshot being sold in the village shop. Talk to Colin,
who is standing next to Epona, and he will tell you that he made a fishing
rod. However, it is at his house so you will have to go get it. Since you
have the day off and don't need to herd more goats, head into the village.
Ordon Village
Now that you are on foot here, you can wander about and explore for a while.
Head forward past the shop and as you walk past a wall of vines, the man
standing on the ledge above will call to you. Use Z-Targeting and talk to
him, then climb the vines and speak with him face to face. He will point out
another patch of grass which you can use to whistle. Hop over to the next
high ledge and pick up grass, then whistle to call a hawk to your side.
Point the remote at the screen and use the Control Stick to scan the area,
using the pointer to aim at a target. From this one, you can hit the beehive
in the tree across the way.
From here, jump to the shop's roof and then onto a couple more ledges. Use
the grass on the last one to call the hawk again. This time, look across the
water to a monkey dancing on a far ledge with a wooden cradle above its
head. Aim for the monkey and press A, and the hawk will collect the cradle
for you. With the cradle in hand, hop back to the first ledge where the man
is standing and drop to the ground.
Walk along the stream and you will find a woman standing near it. As you
approach, she will see that you found her lost cradle. She wants to give you
something, and asks that you follow her to her house atop the hill. Follow
her (or if you're impatient, run up the path to the house on your own). Once
there, the lady will give you a Fishing Rod, the one Colin made, as thanks.
Now, head to the western side of the village at the other side of the
stream. You will find a cat, as the man on the high ledge pointed out
before.
Approach the stream and set your Fishing Rod to the B Button (press -, then
select the rod and press B). When you are ready, press B and send your line
into the stream. Hold the remote steady and horizontally as the hook
descends and nearby fish swim near. When the colored bobber sinks into the
water entirely, quickly flick back the remote and with luck you'll have
caught a fish. Release the first fish then catch a second one. The cat will
grab your catch and runs off into the shop with it.
Before you continue, you will need to gather some rupees (money). There are
a number of ways you can get rupees just by wandering around the village:
wander through the grass, lift up/throw rocks and pumpkins, climb the tree
after knocking out the beehive, climb atop the mayor's house. Once you have
at least 30 rupees, head to the northern area of the village where you
entered, and go inside the shop (Sera's Sundries).
Talk to Sera and she will be happy that her cat has returned (if you came
here earlier, she was upset that it was missing). As thanks, she will give
you a Bottle half-filled with Milk! Also, be sure to buy the Slingshot which
comes with 50 pellets. When you're done here, exit the shop. There really
isn't much else to do here, so head back north towards your house.
Link's House
When you arrive here, Rusl will tell you that he left a gift inside for you.
After he leaves, talk to the children nearby and they will see that you
bought the Slingshot. You will now enter into a tutorial of sorts for using
your newly purchased item. Aim and shoot at a target to begin, then look
around with the Control Stick and fire at the remaining targets and
scarecrows. Be sure to also shoot the spider crawling on the ladder leading
to your house, as well as the one on the roof. Once that's over, climb up
and go inside.
In the house, open the chest that Rusl left for you to receive the Wooden
Sword. It will automatically be equipped, so head outside with it. Talk to
the children and offer to teach them how to use it. Of course, this will act
as another tutorial to familiarize yourself with using the sword. First, do a
regular slice by making a slicing motion with the remote (it does not have to
be dramatic, a small movement is enough). For the stab, use Z-Targeting and
tap forward on the Control Stick, then press A to perform that move. To do a
spinning attack, simply move the nunchuck part side to side (again, a small
subtle movement is sufficient). Finally, do a jumping slice (Z-Target and
press A).
When this session is over, a monkey will appear and the kids will chase after
it. When you regain control, climb onto Epona and ride into the northeast
area.
Ordon Woods
Here, go northward and you will find one of the kids at the intersection near
the pond. Talk to him and he will tell you that they went further into the
woods. Ride across the suspension bridge and into the Faron Woods.
Faron Woods
In this area, ride through the grass with Epona to collect some rupees. Speed
up (press A) in order to hop over the northern fence. When you reach the
water, head west along a path that leads through a cavern of sorts. Soon
after, you will reach an intersection with a sign noting the Forest Temple
path, as well as Coro's shop. So, head to the northwest by taking the left
path for now.
Up ahead, you will see a house and a man with a huge afro sitting outside of
it. This is Coro, and if you talk to him, he will give you the Lantern. Coro
will then ask you to try it out by lighting the fire beneath the pot nearby.
Set the Lantern to B, then use it to light the fire. Coro will tell you that
using the lantern requires fuel, which you can buy from him if it runs out.
Now that you have the Lantern, head back to the intersecting paths. Kill the
Deku Baba as your first enemy encounter, then head up the hill. You will find
a play wooden sword which belongs to Talo, one of the kids. Continue up the
dark hill into the next area. In this dark cave, take out your Lantern (if
you have it out and then wield your sword, your lantern will hang from your
side, illuminating the area without wasting oil) and use it to light up the
otherwise dark room. Cut through the grass and defeat the Keese and Deku
Babas along the way. When you come to a giant web blocking your path, swing
the Lantern to burn it down.
Up ahead, defeat a rat and use your sword to hit the hanging pots to get some
rupees. There will be a split in the path here. If you want to go right, you
will find a chest containing 10 rupees. Otherwise, continue north to another
web, which you must burn down. Then, continue northward to exit this cave.
Out here, you will in a more open area as opposed to where you were. Wander
around, killing the various enemies that you encounter (as a note, if you get
caught by a Deku Baba, use the spinning sword attack to break free).
You should make your way to the northwestern portion of this region (noted as
a red circle on the map). Over there, you will enter another dark cave, as
evidenced by the Keese hanging above the entrance. Go into that room and
defeat the enemies, then open a chest to receive the Small Key. You can also
light the 2 torches to the sides of the first chest to make a second one
appear on the upper ledge. Open that one to get your first Piece of Heart!
When you're done here, backtrack out of the cave.
Now, make your way to the southeast area (as shown by the other red circle on
your map). Defeat the guards and unlock the gate with the key you just found,
then continue onward to the following area. Here, fight the enemies out in
the open, then stop by Trill's Shop if you need an oil refill or a red potion
(check the box and pay on your own, or the bird will attack you when you
leave). Head to the north from here, opening a chest to the east to receive
10 rupees.
When you reach the narrow path, you will find Talo and the monkey trapped
inside a cage. Follow the path up to the top, and defeat the guards
surrounding the cage. After that, destroy the cage with your sword to free
Talo. He runs off, asking you not to tell his dad about all these events.
Then, Rusl suddenly appears and reminds you that tomorrow is the day you
depart for Hyrule. The scene fades out, and the next day arrives.
Ordon Ranch
As Link is relaxing in the grass, Fado appears at the ranch. Talk to him and
he will want to get the work done early today. So, run by the ranch and pick
up Epona, or use the grass patch to call her. Talk to Fado again when you're
atop the horse, and another round of goat herding will begin. This time, you
have to herd 20 of them into the barn. Be careful though, since one can
become aggressive and ram into you (it will glow orange when that is about to
happen).
After you successfully herd the goats, hop over the fence and ride back into
town.
Ordon Village
As you ride into town, you will stop to speak with the mayor. Ilia will also
greet you and check up on Epona. She will become angry once she realizes
Epona is injured, and will let you know it before leading the horse back to
the spring. The mayor will be disappointed, so it is up to you to fix this
situation. Head across the village and run up the path to your house.
Link's House
When you walk into this area, Colin will talk to you. He will want to come
along to see Ilia, and so he will follow you. Approach the two kids blocking
the path to the spring, and they will want to borrow your sword in exchange
for letting you pass. Colin will thank you before running up ahead, so follow
him to the spring.
Ordon Woods
Here, go north and east at the intersection to find the spring. The gate will
be up and Ilia still won't let you in. Colin will try to calm her down, and
tells you to crawl in through a tunnel nearby. So, head back south to the
first open area and check the east wall to find a tunnel. Crawl through it to
reach the spring. Ilia will be calmer at this point, and allows you to take
Epona as long as you are careful.
Soon after, enemies will invade the spring and knock Link unconscious while
they capture Colin and Ilia. As the enemies retreat, Link awakens and finds
that they were captured. You will run to a gate with mysterious symbols on
it, and Link will get pulled into the twilight world. After a brief scene,
Link will become a wolf. You will now get the option to save once again.
Castle Dungeon (Twilight)
Following the break, Link (in wolf form) will be chained up in a jail cell of
sorts. When you get control, try to dash around with no apparent results. A
strange person will enter the cell, and will proceed to taunt you before
breaking the chain that holds you captive. The girl will then warp out of the
cell and challenges you to escape the cell before she gives up any new
information.
You should see a box of sorts in one of the corners in your cell. Attack it
(same controls as regular Link), then use the Dig command (Down button on the
remote) to dig out of the cell. After you escape, the girl will offer to help
as long as you behave, and will ride on your back. Run into the adjacent cell
which is open, and the girl will call you (you'll hear it in the remote too).
Talk to her with the Up button on the remote, and she will direct you toward
the chains hanging from above. Press Z to target it, then press A to bite.
Doing this will pull the chain down, opening the path which leads out of
here.
In the next area, run through the narrow corridors until you reach a new
room. The girl will point out the glowing light in the corner, and that you
should use your senses (Left/Right on the remote) to check such lights out.
This ability allows you to see the spirits of the deceased, and lets you
listen in on their thoughts. Follow the damp path onward until you reach a
split. If you want to go right, you'll find another switch to bite which
leads to a crate containing a rupee.
If not, then go west through the open doorway. Up ahead, you will see a pit
of spikes to the north, as well as some small enemies here or there. If you
go south at the 4-way split, you will find a switch to bite, which will raise
the water level a little bit. This means you can now swim over the spikes
with ease. In the next portion, head north to another intersection. There, go
east and bite the switch to drain the entire complex of water.
Head to the western branch and the girl will float through the bars,
instructing you to find your own way through. Since you drained the area,
this won't be too hard. Approach the bars and look to the left to find a
hole; crawl through it and run around the bend to reach your partner again.
Continue west to a large, round room with stairs going up around the sides.
Start to go up the steps, but when you reach the first jump, the steps will
crumble.
Go back up to that gap and talk to the girl (Up on the remote). To get past
these complex parts, Z-Target her and press A to make the leap across. Make
your way through this room by pressing Up, then using Z-Targeting and the A
button to jump to the girl's location. At the top of the steps, walk across
the tightrope and continue upward on some more steps. With the girl's help,
use Z and A to do some more wide jumps. Soon after, you will reach the very
top of the room, and the door. Defeat the bats, then check by the pile of
rubble to trigger an event. Press Up on the remote and do some more jumps
with her help to reach the exit (finally).
Hyrule Castle (Twilight)
Outside, the girl still remains tight-lipped regarding your location. She
tells you to reach the tower in the distance, however. So, follow the path
going north. When you find a spirit, check it out, then climb onto the nearby
box. Jump to the upper ledge and drop down at the other side, then continue
onward. On this platform, target and defeat the giant bird before going
north. Jump over the wall and defeat another bird.
After the second fight, walk onto the wooden planks to the right and press Up
when prompted to do so. Perform some more Z-Targeting jumps, and you will end
up on a large blue rooftop. Defeat the birds that attack, then go down and
break some crates to the sides to replenish your hearts if need be. When
you're ready, head north and east and jump onto the ledge, and enter the
tower.
Here, drop to the ground and run upstairs. Go through the open door and enter
that room, then a scene will commence. You will finally learn that your
companion's name is Midna when the cloaked figure addresses her. This person
will explain that you are in what used to be Hyrule before the twilight king
took over. After a lengthy explanation, the figure will reveal themselves as
none other than Princess Zelda. She will then ask you and Midna to leave
since a guard is coming, so exit the room and run down the stairs. Midna will
spot an escape route through a window above, and out you go.
On the rooftops, Midna will agree to send you back to the forest spring as
promised. She will then remind you that you have to rescue Colin and Ilia
before sending you off.
Ordon Woods
You return back at the spring, but still seem to retain the wolf form.
Apparently you will stay this way for a while, so head west. Your shadow will
take the form of Midna and she will talk to you again. She wants you to find
a sword and shield for her to use in battle since you will have to venture
into the twilight at some point. Head to the south and into the next area.
Link's House
Here, defeat the enemies that have gathered, and head towards the village.
Before you go, a squirrel will speak to you, letting you know that as a wolf
you can talk to the animals to get information. Following this conversation,
you will run into the village.
Ordon Village
In the village, talk to the brown cucco and it will basically tell you to
stay out of sight of the people, to avoid any trouble. Cross the stream and
approach the people from a distance, then listen in on their conversation a
couple times. They will talk about a sword and shield (just what you needed)
and where those items are located. The people will then spot you and run away
in fear. Midna will point out an open window accessible from the roof, and
suggests that you can jump up there from some other point.
If you pass by the wall of vines near the stream, the man on the ledge will
call you a monster and summons the hawk to attack you. Get away from it by
running to the north. Go behind the house to the north and Midna will call
you. With her help, jump onto the top of the roof. From there, jump across
the ledges to where the man is standing, and scare him off the ledge. If you
want, you can press A while standing on this platform to howl (move the
Control Stick up and down to control the pitch), which will call the hawk to
you. It will let you call it at certain spots for help later on. Anyway, now
that it's safe, use Midna to jump from the water wheel onto the roof of the
house where you need to be. Up there, simply go through the open window.
Inside the house, drop down to the lower room and jump onto the table. Press
Up when Midna calls you, then jump to to the upper ledge. You will see the
shield hanging on the opposite wall; dash into the wall twice to knock it
down. Collect the Ordon Shield, then jump through the window to exit the
home. You will land in the stream outside, which will cause Rusl and his wife
to wonder what that sound was.
Rusl will now patrol the dirt path leading into town from his house, leaving
the gift for the royal family (the sword) on the couch in their home. His
wife is standing outside, so it won't be so simple to get in. Follow the
stream around to the back side of the house, then run up the hill while
keeping a distance away from Rusl/his wife. When you reach the right side of
the house, you will see a slightly raised platform. Behind it is a hole in
the wall; dig through to enter the house.
In Rusl's house, grab the Ordon Sword from the couch. Midna will then say
she's taking you back into the twilight, but wants you to return to the woods
first. So, dig back out of the house and while still avoiding Rusl, run back
to the woods in the north.
Ordon Woods
In this area, head north along the path to the intersection. When you reach
the split by the spring, you will hear a voice. Approach the water and a
shadow being will suddenly appear to fight you. Use Z-Targeting and attack
with A when it prompts you, and this creature will be quickly defeated.
After the battle, the voice calling to you will finally appear in the form of
a light spirit called Ordana. The spirit will explain why the shadow beings
are appearing, and that you need to revive the other 3 light spirits. Ordana
also tells you that by reviving the light spirits, you will be able to retain
your original human form. After the spirit disappears, go west and northward
across the bridge. At the entrance to the woods, you will reach a twilight
portal. Tell Midna you want to proceed, and you will enter.
Faron Woods
In the woods, head north until you are fenced in by the twilight barriers.
Move toward the center area and three of the shadow beings you fought at the
spring will appear here. You will have to take them all on at once, so do
your best. Midna will intervene when she realizes that they aren't dying
because the last remaining monster revives the others. She will have you use
an energy field (hold B while moving, then release when the enemies are
within the field).
After the shadow beings are defeated, continue to the north. Approach the
waterfall and check the light spirit, and it will speak to you. It will
request that you collect the Tears of Light from invisible dark insects
throughout the area, in order to dispel the twilight from the region. To aid
in this, the light spirit will give you the Vessel of Light, and also marks
on your map the locations of said dark insects.
To continue, go west along the path. Use your senses in this narrow tunnel to
spot the first pair of dark insects. Defeat the Deku Babas, then defeat the
dark insects and collect their tears. At the intersection ahead, you will
find that the gate is once again locked. You'll be able to get past, but you
should explore the other path first. In the field where Coro was earlier,
move to the far side of his house and dash into the wall to knock another
dark insect to the ground.
After you use your senses and kill it for the tear, go to the south side by
the scarecrow, and walk up the slight hill to a wooden ledge. Press Up when
Midna calls you, then jump into the window and enter Coro's house. Drop down
and listen to Coro's spirit with your senses, and two more dark insects will
emerge. Defeat them, then exit the house through the same window. Now, go
back to the southeast by the intersection. To the right of the locked gate is
a hole under the fence; dig under it to get to the other side.
When you emerge, defeat the dark insects and collect their tears before
heading into the dark cave ahead. In the next area, head through the cave,
defeating the enemies you encounter along the way (there are no dark insects
in here). At the path split, just keep going north to exit the cave. Back
outside again, head to the left and use your senses to spot the next 2 dark
insects. Dash into the wall and they will start to fly around. Use Z-
Targeting and the A button to defeat them and grab their tears.
After that, go north and approach the twilight mist. If you try to enter it,
you will be unable to pass, which Midna will mention afterward. Go to the
left of the dock and use her command to hop across a series of small ledges
to cross the mist. On the new ledge, run up the path until Midna prompts you
once again. Hop across a couple more columns to reach the center area. Use
your senses and defeat the 3 dark insects over here to recover their tears.
Go up the hill and use Midna's help to cross another series of long jumps,
occasionally moving on your own to trigger the next set of jumps. While you
jump, be quick so as not to take damage from the various enemies along the
way. At the last jump, there will be a giant pendulum swinging; wait until it
swings by to jump so that it doesn't hit you. When you reach the ground, the
two dark insects will burrow into the ground. Use your senses and dig them
up, then defeat the insects to get the tears they possess.
After you get the tears, go through the open gate to reach the next area. In
there, go forward and you will have to face three of those shadow beings from
before. Defeat one on your own, then use the energy field to dispatch the
remaining two together. Once that's done, continue moving northward through
the area. Follow the narrow path up to where Talo and the monkey were trapped
earlier, and you will spot the final two dark insects. Use your senses to
find and destroy them, then collect the final tears. You will also see the
monkey's spirit talk about how dangerous the forest has become.
Now that you have all the tears of light, the Vessel of Light will clear the
woods of the twilight. The next scene will show the light spirit Faron taking
shape. You will now become a human again and Midna will leave you for now
while Faron informs you of your fate. He suggests that you visit the temple
deep in the forest to retrieve a special power so you can begin your quest
against the twilight king.
After the scene ends, Midna will speak to you again now that you are a human
(if you want to speak to her while in normal form, simply press Up on the
remote). Now, head west and you will reach that locked gate at the
intersection. Take the northern path to Coro's shop, and talk to Coro who is
now sitting outside. He will give you the Small Key to open that gate. If you
have the money, you can also buy a Bottle full of oil for 100 rupees. When
you're ready, go back to the intersection and open the gate to continue into
the dark cave.
Make your way through the cave just like you did earlier in the game when
rescuing Talo. If you lit the torches before, they will still be lit right
now. So, defeat the enemies and collect some rupees from the hanging pots,
and take the north path at the split to reach the next area. This time, the
large field will be covered with a dark fog, and if you try to run into it,
you will not succeed. Use your Lantern and a monkey will appear. It will
steal it while you're not looking, and then proceeds to walk through the fog.
Follow it all around the area, defeating any enemies in the way.
When you reach the southeastern safe area, the monkey will drop the Lantern
and run off. Pick it up and continue to the next area. There, head north and
fight some more of the usual enemies. When you come to Trill's shop, be sure
to fill a Bottle with Lantern Oil since that monkey used up all your oil
wandering in the fog. Don't forget to put the 20 rupees in the box, since the
shop runs on an honor system.
Continue to the north and you will see a golden wolf. Approach it and a scene
will commence. A skeleton warrior will appear; when you have control, try to
attack it and it will quickly knock you down. It will then teach you your
first hidden skill, the Ending Blow (Z-Target, then press A to finish off an
enemy lying on the ground stunned).
After the scene is over, head up the narrow path to the temple entrance. Beat
the guards here, then take out your Lantern. Swipe it at the web blocking
your access to burn it down, then when you are ready, step forth into the
first temple of the game, the Forest Temple!
Forest Temple
Starting off in this temple, go forward and defeat the Keese, Deku Babas, and
sword-wielding enemies. You will see a monkey trapped in a cage in front of
you; destroy it with your sword to free it. The monkey will then wait for you
atop the wall in front of you. However, there are spiders hanging on the
vines you need to climb, so use your Slingshot to clear them. There are also
some vines on the left side of the room you can climb (after killing more
spiders) which will lead to a chest containing 10 rupees. Anyway, climb up
the north wall and open the door leading into the next room.
In the second room, go down the ramp and then up the one in front of you to
the center platform. Defeat the spider enemy, then use your Lantern to light
the 4 torches. Some stairs leading to the north door will appear, so follow
them up to that ledge. Open the chest to your left to receive the Dungeon
Map, then enter the next room.
There, a giant monkey will appear and throw a boomerang at your monkey pal,
causing the suspension bridge to fall apart. That means you can't go any
further in here for now, so Midna will point out that the monkey wants to
help you. So, go back to the previous room. Follow the monkey to the center
platform and she will hang from the western rope. Jump to her, then swing and
jump to the ledge across the gap, and continue into the following room.
In here, go right and you'll find a spider enemy that acts as a bomb when you
hit it. Attack it, then move back and it'll explode, clearing the rocks
behind it. Break the pots and you will meet a creature called Ooccoo, whose
function is to warp you out of the dungeon if you use it as an item. Now,
take the other path around until you reach a web. Burn it down with the
Lantern and go into the room ahead.
Here, the monkey will jump onto a platform to the right, so follow her across
a series of ledges to the other side. Go into the northern room from here,
since that's the only way to go for now. Head across the rotating bridge and
continue through the door straight ahead into that room. In there, open the
nearby chest to get a Small Key. The path in this room is blocked off for
now, so backtrack a couple rooms. This time, use your Slingshot to kill a
spider to the west. Then, hop across the gap and unlock the door that the
monkey leads you to before entering that room.
You will spot another trapped monkey in a cage atop a pedestal in the middle
area. Run along the path, crossing a bridge that will collapse after you
cross it. When you reach the center, talking to your monkey friend will give
a hint as to what needs to be done. So, roll into the pedestal, then while
it's wobbly, do it again to knock the cage over, freeing the monkey. The
guards above will notice this and jump down to attack. Defeat them, then
follow the monkeys up the steps to the broken bridge. Jump and swing from
monkey to monkey to get across, then head out the same door you came in.
Now, backtrack to the second room of the temple (the one where you found the
map). Get to the center platform and use the second monkey to reach the east
platform, then enter that new room. In this room, go down and defeat the
stronger Deku Babas. You will notice some flower enemies that you cannot
destroy with your sword in here. Walk up the stairs to reach the upper level,
and you will find one of those spider bomb enemies.
Use your shield (quicker than the sword) to make the spider curl up into bomb
form, then walk along the platform above the stairs you just came up. At the
edge, drop the bomb down into one of those plants to clear the way. Deflect
another spider bomb with your shield, then hop over the nearby gap (where you
killed the first plant) and toss the bomb onto the ledge straight ahead to
clear the giant boulder, revealing a door. Don't go into there yet; instead,
go right to find a wall of vines. Shoot the spiders on the wall, then jump
onto it and climb up. At the top, enter the room in front of you.
Here, you will spot another monkey trapped behind a locked door, and the key
being held by a giant plant enemy. Target the plant's head and use your
Slingshot or jumping sword attack to kill it. Then, toss a spider bomb into
the plant to clear it, allowing you to collect the Small Key. Use it to free
the monkey, then exit the room with it. Back in the previous room, go back to
the door that was previously blocked by a boulder, and enter that room.
In here, you will see two poles in front of you, with a chest atop one of
them. Drop to the lower area and roll into the pole with the chest to knock
it down; open it to get a Small Key. Cross the bridge, avoiding the tile
enemies as you cross. At the other side, use your Lantern to light the two
unlit torches to make the stairs rise up in front of you. Then, jump up the
steps and unlock the door to free yet another monkey. Break the pots in its
cell to get 10 rupees, then head out of this room altogether and back to the
second room of the temple (check your map).
Once you get to that center room, use one of the monkeys to get to the center
platform. When you land, the monkeys will all lead you to the north, so
follow them into that room. The bridge is still out, but the monkeys can help
you cross the gap since you rescued enough of them. Once you cross the large
gap, continue north into the room ahead. You will find that giant monkey with
the boomerang from earlier.
To beat it, wait until it stops on one of the columns to throw the boomerang.
At that point, roll into the column to stun the monkey, and the boomerang
will knock it to the ground. Take that chance to attack with your sword.
Repeat this several times until you defeat the monkey, which as it turns out
was controlled by a dark insect all along. After being given a quick
explanation on how to use it, pick up the Gale Boomerang as your reward! Now,
turn towards the door and look up to find some propellers. Target them with
your Gale Boomerang, then throw it to partially raise the bars blocking the
door. Do this a few times to open the door, then exit the room.
Back here again, go east across the rotating bridge (as a note, you can use
your Gale Boomerang on the propellers to spin the bridges around at will).
Cross the bridge and defeat the enemy, then target the rope holding the cage
up with the Gale Boomerang to free the monkey. From here, use your new item
to get across the bridges to the south, and make your way to the second room
of the temple yet again.
Once you get to that room, swing over to the center platform and look up. Use
the Gale Boomerang on the ropes to drop the chest onto the platform so you
can reach it. Open it to receive the Compass. Next, swing over to the western
door and head into that room. Follow the left path until you reach the main
area of the room. Use the Slingshot to kill the spider on the vine wall, then
climb up and to the right, and drop onto the wooden ledge. Hop across a small
gap to find 4 propellers on columns above you, and a pattern in the dirt.
Use the Gale Boomerang to target each propeller, one at a time with Z, while
following the path on the ground. If done correctly, the gate will raise.
Open the large chest to receive the Big Key. Now, jump your way to the
northern door and enter that room. In here, run across the rotating bridge
and open the opposite door to enter the following room. There, use your Gale
Boomerang to rotate the bridge, then stand on the bridge portion and use it
again. From here, go into the now-accessible east room.
Defeat the spiders hanging from the ceiling, then look on the floor to find 2
spider webs. Burn the one to the left (with your back to the door), and drop
down the hole below it. You'll land on a platform below with the monkey cage.
Use your sword to break the cage, then climb up the vines and head back out
through the door.
Back here, walk onto the bridge and use the Gale Boomerang to rotate it so
you can reach the northern door. Enter that room, where you will see that the
monkeys have all gathered on a bunch of ledges. You still need to rescue a
couple of them, so for now, use the Gale Boomerang to navigate the rotating
bridges in this room. When you get to the eastern platform, defeat the guard
enemy, then use your Slingshot to clear the vines above of all spiders (there
are three of them). Then, climb your way to the top ledge, and go through the
door into the next room.
In here, defeat a bunch of large Deku Babas, then go up the ramp in front of
you. There is a boulder blocking your access to the ledge in front of you. To
handle this, use the Gale Boomerang. First, target the spider bomb (it's to
the left), then target the empty space to the right of the boulder, and then
release. If done right, the winds will pick up the bomb and slam it into the
boulder as it approaches the second target, clearing a path for you.
Climb up the vines and defeat the guard enemy wandering around. Then, use the
Gale Boomerang to knock the Deku Babas off the ceiling, and your sword to
finish them off. Stand at the edge of the platform and use the Gale Boomerang
to retrieve a distant spider bomb. Use it to blow open the rock wall to the
east, freeing another monkey. Now, go back down and cross the bridge. Throw
the Gale Boomerang to grab a spider bomb, then throw it at the bomb-eating
plant on its own ledge to clear it. Jump across to the chest and open it to
receive a Small Key, then exit this room.
Use the Gale Boomerang here to spin the bridges around so you can get to the
southern room once again. In there, rotate the center bridge, then stand on
it and use your item again to rotate it so that you can reach the west room.
In that room, use the Gale Boomerang to flip over the tile enemies, then
attack with your sword. Head to the back of the room and through the tunnel,
then drop down into the lower segment. Kill the large spider, then hit the
smaller ones on the vines with your Slingshot.
From here, climb up the vines to reach the area where the final monkey is in
captivity. Target the two propellers on both sides of the cage with the Gale
Boomerang, and you will free the monkey. Go around the large pit and defeat
the hanging enemy with the boomerang/sword combination like before. Then,
continue out of this room. Walk onto the rotating bridge once more and spin
it so you can go north.
In the room with all the monkeys, they will all form a swinging chain to help
you cross the gap. Go up to the edge and jump when the monkeys come close,
then let go at the other side to land. After a successful landing, continue
forward to the boss door. A pot to the right contains a fairy, should you
want to bottle one. If you're ready, enter the boss chamber. You will be
introduced to the first major boss of the game, Diababa. Visit the Bosses
section of this guide for help defeating it.
Once the battle ends, you will get the first Fused Shadow. Midna will not
tell you what it's used for yet, holding out until you find the other two
pieces. Now, grab the Heart Container and speak to Midna to leave this temple
entirely.
Faron Woods
When you arrive back outside, the light spirit will speak to you again. It
will tell you to head west and meet Eldin. After Midna talks to you, you will
regain control. To exit the woods, make your way to the northwest by where
Coro hangs out. If you go past him, you can follow the now open path out of
here.
Hyrule Field
At last, you finally get to leave the forest and explore a new portion of the
vast landscape. For now, you have to go to the land where Eldin is, so make
your way to the west. As you venture westward, you will be stopped by a
postman making his rounds. He will warn you of the twilight curtain blocking
the way onward. He will also hand you a simple letter, which you can read in
your Collections menu if you want. After he goes, continue westward to the
twilight curtain. Midna will ask you if you're ready; when you are, say yes
and become a wolf again (you can't go back once you switch, for now).
As a wolf, move forward and you will find a wooden stick in the road; sniff
it to learn the Youths' Scent. Use your senses and you will be able to follow
the scent of the kids from Ordon Village to where they were led. Continue
heading along the path until you come to the three shadow creatures again.
Defeat one with your attacks, then use the energy field to eliminate the
other two.
Now that the battle is done, you will see that the bridge leading across the
gorge is gone. Midna will tell you that when you fight groups of those shadow
beings, a portal will become accessible in that area. She can warp you from
portal to portal if you talk to her for now on (while you're a wolf of
course). For now however, you have to find the bridge, so you will have to
test out this portal system. Warp to North Faron Woods.
Faron Woods
When you arrive at your destination, look around and you will see the giant
bridge off to the side. Talk to Midna when she prompts you, and warp back to
Kakariko Gorge (in the Eldin province).
Hyrule Field
When you arrive here again, the bridge will fit into place and you will be
able to cross safely. When you have control, continue following the path as
it heads westward. When you reach a large gate, dig under the left side of it
as signified by the dark hole under the gate. At the other side, defeat the
enemies, then continue into Kakariko Village.
Kakariko Village
As you arrive in the village, go forth and you will have to fight another
trio of shadow beings. Defeat them, then the light spirit will call to you
from the nearby pond. Run through the pond and speak to the spirit again; it
will give you a Vessel of Light and requests you find all the Tears of Light
to clear the twilight within the village.
To begin your hunt for tears, head north to the first house. Walk onto the
wheelbarrow sitting to the side, and use Midna's help to get onto the roof.
From there, walk onto the wooden patch to fall into the house. Inside, use
your senses and you will witness a scene showing a family, including the kids
from Ordon who were captured. They will talk for a bit, before mentioning a
cellar that can be accessed by lighting all the candles.
When you get control of the wolf, pick up the stick and run past the fire to
light it. Then, go up the steps and hop across the gaps, lighting each wall
candle on the way. After you light them all, the cellar will open up, so head
down there. Follow the path into the middle room and use your senses to kill
the first three dark insects, collecting their tears afterward. Continue
going north and use Midna to get out of the house, emerging in the nearby
graveyard.
Graveyard
Here, begin by killing the bats that are flying around. Then, use your senses
to find the shadow of the insect moving around underground. Dig it up and
kill it for its tear, then head east to reenter the village.
Kakariko Village
From the graveyard, head east and you will see the general store (read the
signs outside of it to be sure), along with a hill to the right leading above
it. Check the right side of the building and you will find a hole leading
inside, so enter it. Climb into the store and use your senses to find/kill
the insect. Take its tear and crawl back out the same way you came in. This
time, run up the hill that leads behind the store. At the top, hop across a
gap to another ledge, and enter the next building.
Inside, drop down to ground level and grab the stick. Jump onto the table and
leap toward the torch to light the stick, then walk past the furnace in the
corner to light it, causing a dark insect to come out. Defeat it for its
tear, then go into the adjacent room. Defeat the enemies in the main room,
then go upstairs and kill another enemy. Enter the room up there and use your
senses to spot the flying insect. Kill it for a tear, then head back
downstairs and exit the inn the same way you came in (climb up the boxes in
the furnace room to reach the exit).
Back outside, drop down to ground level and you will see a row of houses on
the west side of town. Run to the southernmost house, then hop up the ledges
to reach the roof. Then, go from roof to roof until you reach the third
house. Drop through the wooden patch on the third roof to enter that house.
In there, you will find a block that you can push towards the wall. Do so and
a dark insect will come out; use your senses to destroy it. Grab the tear and
walk towards the dresser, then use Midna to get outside again.
Drop to the ground and head north past a bomb shop sign. When you come across
the second sign, there will be a series of ledges you can jump onto. Jump
onto the top ledge, then face the building and jump through its window (you
will have to dash and jump). Inside the bomb shop, go upstairs and dash into
the dresser to knock it over, revealing a dark insect. Kill it for its tear,
then climb up to the exit door.
When you emerge, you will be on the store's roof. Go northwest along the
lower path and you'll see a dark insect retreating into the building there.
Enter through the hole and pick up the stick, then light it by passing near
the torch. Light the furnace and three insects will dart out, causing the
house to go ablaze. Quickly escape through the hole and the house will burn
down. Luckily all the insects die in the blaze, so approach the ruins and
collect the three tears.
Next, run up the hills to the top of the cliff. You will find another
building at the top, and a hole in the ground next to it. Dig under the wall
to get inside, and use your senses to find/kill the insect. Grab its tear
before digging your way outside again. Make a jump to the ground below, then
follow the path going north (the only one that's open) to reach the foothills
of Death Mountain.
Death Mountain
When you arrive, Midna will point out that the path is impassable, but she
can help you if needed. Go up the slight hill to the left and use Midna to
scale the wall. Continue up the path, killing Keese and shadow enemies along
the way. When you reach the second large wall, climb up the blocks to
continue. Up there, you will see steam shooting out of the ground and walls.
Try to avoid those; you won't take damage, but they can be rather annoying.
Use your senses to spot the dark insect, which will burrow into the ground.
Dig it up and kill it for its tear. You will also see a Howling Statue here;
check it and perform the proper howl to make the golden wolf appear. It will
tell you to return as a human, and will mark its location on your map (the
Ordon Woods spring).
Now, head further north along the path, being cautious of the steam leaks. Up
ahead you will be forced to face off against four of those shadow beings. One
of them is hiding behind an alcove surrounded by a barrier; try to kill that
one first. Defeat two of them, then use the energy field on the remaining
ones to finish them off. After that, use your senses and check the northern
wall to find another dark insect. Dash into the wall, then kill the bug and
grab its tear. Now, hop onto the small ledges to the west and use Midna to
reach the upper platforms (wait until the steam shooter stops first).
Follow the path until you reach some more steam leaks and a ramp to the
right. Head up that ramp and use Midna to jump to the next ledge. From there,
go forward and drop into the lower arena. Defeat the shadow enemies, then use
your senses to find and kill the final dark insect for its tear.
Kakariko Village
Now that you have all the tears, you will be automatically taken back to the
light spirit. Since you recovered the tears, the twilight will leave Kakariko
Village and the light spirit Eldin will appear in full form. It will tell you
to ascend Death Mountain in order to cleanse the region of evil. The spirit
will vanish and you will become regular Link again.
Following this, the kids will run out of the nearby house to see you. The
shaman, Renado, will introduce himself as well. He will talk about the Goron
tribe in the mountains to the north, and how there has to be something wrong
in the mines due to their recent erratic behavior. So, your job will be to
head up the mountain. Head all the way north again to the next area.
Death Mountain
Here, climb up the steep wall in front of you and move forward to meet a
Goron. They won't be too happy to see you, and will proceed to roll towards
you. There's no use trying to stop it, since you won't succeed just yet.
After you get knocked off the cliff, return to the village.
Kakariko Village
When you return, Renado will greet you. He will tell you that a man named Bo
(the mayor from Ordon Village) will be able to help, and that you should go
visit him now. Make your way south through the village, and Epona will
suddenly charge in. Of course you will jump on automatically when she stops,
but she isn't quite tame yet. When prompted, hold Left/Right on the Control
Stick to stay on top, then when Epona stops, press A when prompted. You will
now tame Epona and thus be able to ride around with her again!
Now that you have some faster transportation, head southeast to Hyrule Field.
Hyrule Field
Out here, charge towards the gate with Epona (press A to gain speed), and you
will jump over it. As you head down the path, the postman will call to you
once again. He will deliver a letter from Ooccoo before running off. Continue
heading to the southeast until you reach the Faron Woods. Once there, head
all the way south into Ordon Village.
Ordon Village
Once you're back in town, head to the south. After you cross the stream, Bo
will spot you and will call to you. Go inside and talk to him, and he will
offer to help once he hears about the Gorons on Death Mountain. Follow him
into the back room and he will ask you about sumo wrestling. Learn the basic
rules and then go into the ring with him. Basically, the objective is to push
your opponent out of the ring. Grab and push by repeatedly tapping the A
button. When you're not pushing, swing the remote to slap the opponent, or
use the Control Stick to dodge their slaps. If you push your opponent out of
the ring first, you win.
When you beat Bo twice, he will direct you towards a chest in the corner.
Open it to receive the Iron Boots! Now, leave his house and head north to the
village exit.
Ordon Woods
As you pass through this area, be sure to stop at the spring (assuming you
activated the Howling Statue on Death Mountain as a wolf before). Approach
the golden wolf in the corner and you will meet the skeleton warrior again,
who will teach you Skill #2, the Shield Attack. After you're done here,
continue on your way back to Kakariko Village.
Kakariko Village
The moment you arrive in the village again, a bunch of armored monsters will
ride into town and kidnap Colin. They are the same monsters who kidnapped
Ilia earlier in the game. Since you rode onto the scene just in time, head
north through town and jump over the gate to reach the next area.
Hyrule Field
Out here in this large expanse of land, you will come face to face with the
leader of that group who took Colin again. The leader will blow its horn,
summoning five henchmen to ride onto the scene and attack, before he rides
away. When you gain control, give chase to the leader. Don't worry about the
henchmen, as they will just keep coming if you defeat them. Speed up with
Epona and draw your sword, attacking the leader when you get close.
After you attack the leader enough times, breaking apart his armor and his
horn, he will charge off to the northwest bridge. You will follow the leader
there, and a joust will commence. Charge down the bridge towards the leader,
and with your sword drawn, attack as you pass by (move from side to side as
you approach since if you get hit head on, you'll fall off the bridge and
lose one heart).
If you succeed, the leader will get knocked off the bridge and it will be a
huge victory for Link. Following the battle, you will return to the village.
Kakariko Village
When you return, you will talk with Colin and the others for a bit before
Renado comes to take Colin away. Now that you have control once more, enter
the shop across the way. It is now run by Malo, and he stocks the Hylian
Shield. You should definitely have more than 200 rupees by now, so buy it as
it will come in handy shortly. When you're ready to continue, head north to
Death Mountain again.
Death Mountain
This time, go forward and climb the wall to the upper ledge. Assign the Iron
Boots to one of your directional buttons before approaching the Goron. When
the Goron tries to roll towards you, put on the Iron Boots and press A to
grab it when prompted. You'll end up tossing the Goron behind you, allowing
yourself to finally progress, so take off the boots and continue. Along the
way up the path, you'll face more rolling Gorons, so put on the Iron Boots
and grab them as well to be safe.
When you reach the steam leak area, be careful since there will be enemies
shooting fire arrows at you from above. Further ahead, there will also be
eruptions, which cause fireballs to fall from the sky. Keep going and you
will reach an open area where Gorons are standing around. Drop down to the
lower area, but be careful since the Gorons will try to attack you (Z-Target
them so that your shield protects you), and there will still be fireballs
falling on you.
As for the Gorons, if you use your Shield Attack skill on them, they will
curl up into a ball. At that point, climb onto the Goron and face the
direction you want to go. Shortly thereafter, the Goron will launch you into
the air. Try this with the Goron standing around to reach the upper ledge.
When you land, go right and use the Goron hiding behind the hill to reach the
platform above. From here, you can go east and drop down to enter a hot
springs, where you can recover your health and chat with Gorons. They even
have a shop there, should you need anything.
If you want to continue however, use the Goron on the ledge to reach yet
another one above. On the platform where you end up, you will see a steam
leak that you seemingly cannot pass. This is solved by wearing the Iron
Boots, so use them to get past the steam. Follow the path as it goes up and
around the mountain, using the Gorons to continue to the very top. Once you
reach the topmost platform, go into the cave.
In here, a group of Gorons will try to gang up on you before they are stopped
by their elder, Gor Coron. He will offer to help you, only if you win in a
contest of strength. Agree to do so, and the sumo match will begin. Let him
defeat you the first time, and he will tell you to return later. Before you
talk to the elder again, put on the Iron Boots. Then, challenge Gor Coron to
a rematch.
Win the match this time and Gor Coron will explain what has happened in the
mountain regarding their patriarch Darbus. He wants you to help the tribe
save Darbus, and will allow you to pass through to the Goron Mines. The place
is a huge dungeon, so when you are ready, head on into the mountain (make
sure you have the Hylian Shield equipped first).
Goron Mines
Start by heading forward and following the path to the main area of the room.
Jump onto the first platform above the lava, then continue jumping across to
the next big platform (wait for the lava geysers to go down before jumping,
of course). Use your sword to cut through the wooden barricade in the fence,
then use your Iron Boots to press the floor switch. Quickly take off the
boots and run north past before the giant fire blast hits you. Hit the second
floor switch in the same fashion and head north.
After you jump across a small gap, turn right and follow the path going south
to a ladder. Climb up and move south a little before turning to the left,
then jump across two platforms. When you reach the wall, first go right and
defeat the Fire Slug that falls from the ceiling. Activate the floor switch,
then quickly make your way all the way north across the ledges. When you
reach the fenced in area, go right and continue down the path. Jump onto a
small platform to the right of the door and use your Iron Boots to weigh it
down, thus opening the door.
In the next room, go forward and you will see a path split. Head down the
west path first, where you can defeat a few guards and open a chest
containing the Small Key. Now, go back up the path and continue eastward
until you reach rotating platforms. Hop across when they are not turning,
then continue to a locked door; open it and enter the east room.
In here, go down the path and fight a fire-breathing enemy (to deal with it,
wait until it breathes fire, then hit its tail). Hop across the platforms to
reach the far north area. Defeat the enemies there, then pick up the handle
and pull the wall as far back as you can. Look in the background and wait
until the fire geysers are about to go out, then quickly let go and hop
across the first two platforms. Hop onto the next platform, then turn left
and jump onto the ledge at the other side of the wall. Quickly run past
before the wall crushes you, then enter the next room.
Here, use your Iron Boots to sink to the bottom of the water, and step on the
floor switch at the other side of the fence. A magnetic charge will pull you
upward, allowing you to walk on the blue portions of the ceiling while you
wear your boots (this is a new thing, and you will be doing a lot of it).
Walk around to the top, then take off the boots and head into the next room.
You will find the first Goron elder, Gor Amoto, who will give you a Key Shard
(there are three of them, and you need them to form the Big Key). Open the
chest behind the elder to get the Dungeon Map, then climb the ladder and
follow the path around. Pick up the pot that's moving around and you will
find Ooccoo once again, which can be rather useful. Now, go through the door
to the previous room.
Back here, use the Iron Boots and walk on the blue wall. Defeat a Fire Slug,
then drop onto the ledge at the other end and continue to the next room. Go
forward in here and step on the floor switch to activate another magnet. You
will now have to navigate a passage along the ceiling; your map will come in
handy here. Basically, head to the southeast, then the west and northwest.
There is also a Piece of Heart to be found if you head to the northwest
corner of the room. When you reach the end of the path, drop down and enter
the next room.
Walk onto the platform and defeat the various enemies, then step on the floor
switch to cause a magnet to move around the room, stopping at three spots. Go
west and use your boots to attach yourself to the magnet when it comes by.
Wait until it moves to its northern stop, then drop down to the ground.
Defeat a couple more guard enemies here, and activate another floor switch to
get stuck by another magnet. It will drop you off on a northern ledge, on the
second floor of the dungeon. When you land, drop down and enter the next
room.
In this room, go forward and defeat the spider enemies. Then, use the Iron
Boots to sink into the water and open a chest on the west side to receive a
Small Key. Rise to the surface and swim to the eastern corner of the room.
Sink with the Iron Boots again and push a block forward, then go into the
fenced area and float to the surface. Climb out of the water and activate a
nearby magnet. Get onto the ceiling and follow the blue path straight, then
drop onto the platform at the end.
Hit another floor switch, then walk on the grating and put on your Iron
Boots. Drop off the ledge and into the magnetic stream below. When you get
stuck onto the wall, follow the path and drop onto the next ledge. Open a
nearby chest to receive 20 rupees, then hit the crystal switch to open the
northern door. As soon as you activate it, quickly jump down to the lower
platform and head through the doorway.
In here, avoid the Beamos statues and head to the right side of the room.
Walk on the wall with your Iron Boots, and head right. Land on the platform
there and open a chest to find a Piece of Heart. Then, drop to the ground and
walk on the wall again, this time heading to the left. When you land on the
platform, walk to the north end and cut the rope, which will drop a bridge
leading to the door below. So, fall down and head into the north room.
You will be faced with several archers shooting at you as you head through
the passages in this room. Cut through the wooden wall in front of you and
follow the path northward. When you get a chance to go west or east, go east.
Look to the right corner and open a small chest to get a Small Key. Now, run
all the way west and unlock the door leading into another room. In there, hop
across the rotating platform and head up the hill.
For the next rotating platform, there will be a few magnetic patches on it
that you can stick to with the Iron Boots. Wait until the platform is
horizontal, then run to a patch and stick to it. When you're topside again,
remove the boots and continue some more. When you get to the far side, enter
the room there. In the second safe room, you will meet Gor Ezibo, who will
give you another Key Shard. After he's done talking, check a chest in the
back corner to receive 10 rupees. Then, climb the ladder and go around to the
door.
Back in the previous room, walk behind the torch and stick to the wall, then
follow its path to the end. Drop to the platform below and open a chest to
find 10 rupees, then go into the southern room to meet a mini-boss. The fight
against this armored Goron takes place on a wobbly magnetic platform above
the lava (it will tilt when weight is shifted around, be careful). To attack,
wait until the Goron raises one or both of his arms, then quickly target and
attack his stomach (a jumping slash works well). If you do it quickly enough,
he'll fall back and start to roll. Put on your Iron Boots and press A to grab
the rolling Goron, and toss him into the lava to cause damage. Do this three
times to win.
Once the battle is over and the shadow insect is knocked off the Goron's
head, he will allow you to go forward. So, head into the southern room. Go
forward in that room and open the big chest to receive the Hero's Bow plus 30
arrows. Set your new item to B, then shoot at the rope holding the bridge up.
When the bridge falls, go across to the next half of the room.
Go all the way south and approach the Beamos statue to activate it, as well
as all the others in the room. Head back to the entrance and shoot arrows at
the red eyes of the statues to defeat them, which will allow you to grab the
statues and move them. Pull the east statue back to reach a chest containing
the Compass. Then, pull back the western statue and enter the safe room
behind it.
In this room, talk to the final Goron elder and he will give you the last Key
Shard, automatically forming the Big Key. Open the big chest behind him to
get 50 rupees, then exit the room. Back in the Beamos room, destroy the
southernmost statue if you haven't already, then head into that room. Go
forward and defeat the Keese, then roll into the fence to knock it down. Hop
across to the next platform, killing the Fire Slugs on it. Continue to the
east and use arrows to shoot at the lizard enemies' tails.
After you kill those enemies, jump onto the next platform and take out your
Hero's Bow. Aim at the ceiling ahead of you and shoot down all the Fire Slugs
so they don't fall on you when you jump across. When it's clear, continue
onward to the locked door. Pass the door and step on the floor switch with
your Iron Boots, then when you get stuck to the ceiling, follow the path.
Defeat the enemy, then turn to the east and shoot the crystal switch to open
the door below. Drop to the ground and run through to the next room.
In the next room, jump to the right platform and open a chest there to find
50 rupees. Then, go back and shoot the rope holding up a northern bridge. Go
forward and activate the floor switch to get stuck to a magnetic platform
above. Ride it to the north, then drop down when it stops. Then, continue
into the north room. This time, there will be fish enemies attacking you, so
take them down with arrows. Hit the crystal switch on the high ledge with
another arrow to open the door, and head into the next room.
In here, defeat the regular enemies, then use arrows to defeat the Beamos so
that you can get by safely. Then, climb to the north ledge and enter that
room. In here, go north and use your arrows to shoot down the archers from a
distance. When you reach the split in the path, head to the east. Defeat the
Beamos statue, then pull it all the way back to open a hidden passage in the
wall.
Go up the ramp behind the wall and defeat some more archers above, then
follow the path to a floor switch. Activate it to turn on a magnetic platform
above. Get back down to the lower area and walk to the northernmost spot,
then put on the Iron Boots to get pulled onto the magnetic crane. As it
swings around, shoot an arrow at the rope holding up another bridge to the
northeast. When the bridge falls, wait until the magnet stops above the
bridge, then drop down and enter the east room.
You will have to deal with some more archers in this room, so try and take
them out from a distance if you can. Then, follow the path around to the
north end of the room and defeat the remaining enemies. Shoot the rope
holding the northern bridge up, then head north across it. Defeat the group
of enemies that charges down to attack, then continue to the boss door. When
you are ready, enter and you will face off against Fyrus, the Twilit Igniter.
Read the Bosses section for help defeating this fire monster.
After you defeat the boss, Midna will talk to you about the king of twilight,
revealing his actual name to you as well. When you have control, collect the
Heart Container and talk to Midna to escape the mines.
Kakariko Village
You will automatically arrive at the light spirit's fountain here. He will
tell you to head north to the land where the light spirit Lanayru is located.
Following this scene, Renado and the children, especially Colin, will come
out to speak with you. Once this scene is over, you will have control of Link
once more. Head north to the Bomb Shop, which is now open for business. Try
to buy the Bombs, and Barnes will realize you need a Bomb Bag as well. Buy
his premium kit for 120 rupees, and you will get to have bombs!
If you don't want to explore the town (there are a few easy Pieces of Heart
you can find if you're up for it), then get Epona and jump the northern gate
to reach Hyrule Field once again.
Hyrule Field
As you ride north of the village, you will be stopped once again by the
postman. He will deliver to you some letters before heading out again. Make
your way to the northwest across the vast field where you fought on horseback
earlier. When you reach the bridge, go across it. At the other side, use a
bomb arrow to clear the line of boulders in your way. As soon as you do that,
the twilight will destroy the bridge you just came from, which makes it so
you cannot go back for now.
In addition to the bridge being destroyed, three shadow beings will land on
it. Since they're here, you might as well dismount and fight the shadow
beings. Try to use spinning sword attacks to kill them all at once. After you
do that, get back on Epona and continue northward. Avoid the archers along
the path and you will soon reach the twilight curtain once again. When you
are ready, Midna will pull you into it and you will now become a wolf again.
Now that you are in the Lanayru province, which is still covered in twilight,
head eastward along the path. You will come across a backpack here; sniff it
to learn the Scent of Ilia. If you want to use your senses, you can follow
the purple scent to your next destination, which this guide will also lead
you to. Anyway, continue along the path until Midna points out Hyrule Castle
in the distance.
Continue along the path to the southeast, eventually coming to a bridge.
There will be plenty of enemies to deal with in that region, including the
large annoying birds and more archers. Take care of them, then head across
the bridge and keep moving to the southeast until you enter the next area.
Once there, keep going to the south and eventually to the west, following the
scent, into the Castle Town.
Castle Town
When you arrive at the eastern road of town, listen to the two spirits
talking nearby. They will mention a child and Telma's Bar. That's probably
where you need to go, so head west to the central square. Continue past the
fountain, using your senses to follow Ilia's scent throughout the town. Head
through the western road, which will lead to the south road. Make your way
down the road and eventually into an alleyway which will lead downstairs to
Telma's Bar.
In the bar, head to the back room and check the map on the table. The
soldiers' spirits will talk about the spirit's spring at Lake Hylia, and will
mark its location on the map. Then, listen to the spirits in the main room
and you will get to see Ilia finally. There is a child of the Zoras laying
there, and the lady with Ilia will mention the conversing soldiers in the
back. You already checked the map, so head out of the bar. Go up all the
stairs, then head north to the central square. From there, take the eastern
road out of town.
Hyrule Field
Outside, head across the bridge and make your way directly east of the town
until you reach the next area. Once there, continue along the path going
eastward (there will be a split but you cannot take the other path just yet).
Continue past an advertisement sign and head southward to reach the Great
Bridge of Hylia.
Start to cross the bridge and Midna will alert you to some odd smell. At that
point, an archer will shoot fire arrows at both ends of the bridge, igniting
the gasoline that was apparently all over the ground. You will have to
escape, so climb onto a nearby box and simply jump off the side of the bridge
into the lake below.
Lake Hylia
When you land in the lake, you will discover that something's wrong since the
lake isn't as full as it should be. If you listen to the spirits of the Zoras
standing around, they will say the same thing and reference Zora's Domain as
the cause. Anyway, head up the path to the building at the edge of the lake
and listen to the spirit of the guy there. After some talking, he will
realize a monster is close by and will get scared.
Head to the northwest and approach the monster that the man is so scared of.
As you get close, it will pick up some grass and call a giant bird, which it
will jump onto and ride around. Avoid the fire arrows and wait for them to
swoop down at you. At that point, Z-Target it and hit A to jump attack it. If
done right, tap A multiple times to cause damage. Do this another time and
the archer will fall to the ground. Defeat the archer and Midna will take
control of the bird. She will then pick you up and start flying towards the
lake's source.
Zora's River
In this area, you will play a mini-game of sorts. With the remote, you will
have to move the pointer in the direction that you want the bird to play,
pressing A to dash past any dangers. Along the way, there will be plenty of
enemies standing on the walls trying to attack you, so steer clear of them.
There will also be falling rocks from the ceiling, so try your best to stay
away from those. If you crash, you will have to start from the beginning, so
be careful.
Upper Zora's River
When you land at the end of your flight, you'll find that the region is much
colder, which is a sign of things to come. Go by the building nearby and drop
down the ledges to the bottom area. Then, head east along the icy path to
enter Zora's Domain.
Zora's Domain
Go forward in this area and Midna will suggest looking for some Zoras,
despite the area being frozen over. Head to the north, defeating the Keese
when you come to them. Climb onto the slightly higher ledge and use Midna's
help with Z-Targeting and A to get to the upper area. Follow the path around
the perimeter, then hop your way up several more icy ledges. Be quick since
some of the ledges will fall with your weight. After a bunch of jumps, you
will have to manually turn around to continue the sequence.
Once you reach the top of the area, head north into the back room. There you
will have to face the shadow being trio once more. Go behind the back wall
and kill the single enemy back there, then use the energy field on the two
that are closer together. After you beat them and open up a portal, Midna
will tell you to look under the ice. Use your senses and you will see all the
Zoras frozen underneath. You can't do anything right this moment, so Midna
will tell you to warp somewhere else and figure out how to melt the ice. So,
warp to Death Mountain.
Death Mountain
When you arrive, walk towards the Goron and you will see that jagged piece of
molten rock from earlier. Choose to take it with you, then warp directly back
to Zora's Domain.
Zora's Domain
As soon as you return, that giant rock will melt the entire domain, as well
as restore the water flow to Lake Hylia downstream. Midna will tell you to
head back to meet the light spirit, so start to do so. As you approach the
exit, a voice tells you to wait. It ends up being the spirit of the Zora
elder and queen. She tells you that her son, the Zora prince, went to Hyrule
Castle and may be in trouble now. The queen will ask you to save her son in
exchange for the ability to swim in deep water.
Now that you have another mission to take care of, head out of this area.
Midna will mention that the water level has risen, and the speed of the
current should carry you to the lake. Jump down the waterfall and swim with
the current, and you will soon arrive at Lake Hylia.
Lake Hylia
When you arrive, you will be right in front of the cave where the light
spirit dwells. Head inside and speak to the light spirit Lanayru, who will
give you another Vessel of Light for collecting more Tears of Light. When
you're done here, head back outside. Start by going east on the bridge and
using your senses at the other side to find/kill the first insect for its
tear. Continue on the next bridge to a larger platform, where you'll have to
face three of those shadow beings.
After you defeat the shadow trio and open up a new portal here, continue to
the northeast along the bridges to the building. Go behind it and use your
senses to find the next insect in the air. Jump attack it and grab its tear,
then go back to the large platform where you fought those shadow creatures.
Follow a path to the south, jumping across a series of ledges along the way.
In the far south, you will see a tree; use your senses and dig up the bug
when you see its shadow moving around.
Once you have the third tear, head back to the light spirit's cave. From
there, swim out to the far west patch of land and defeat the dark insect
there for its tear. You will see a patch of grass nearby; pick it up and howl
to summon that bird from earlier, which will take you along Zora's River.
Zora's River
Along this flight, you will have to find and kill 4 dark insects in midair.
To do this, use your senses and Z-Target each insect as you approach it, then
dash attack to defeat it. You still need to maneuver around the hazards this
river course contains, however. If you miss an insect, you can come back
downstream and try it again.
Upper Zora's River
When you land, go over to the house and listen to the spirit sitting on the
steps. That will trigger the next dark insect to emerge. Kill it and collect
the tear, then head north. The Fishing Hole is in the back corner here, but
you cannot visit as a wolf. However, go up the nearby hill and check the
Howling Statue. Howl its tune and the golden wolf will mark its location on
your map for when you become human again.
From here, follow the land path going eastward as you cannot take the lower
path anymore due to the water. At the end you will enter Zora's Domain again.
Zora's Domain
When you arrive here, walk along the path until you reach the central area.
Then, jump into the water and swim to the group of small platforms at the
center. Use your senses to find two dark insects here, then defeat them both
for more tears. Get back onto the eastern path and head north, using Midna to
make your way upward. Make your way around the perimeter of the room heading
west, using Midna's help along the way. Open the chest at the end to get 20
rupees. From there, drop down to the lower area and go forward to find a dark
insect (use your senses). Dig it up and defeat it for another tear.
Now, drop back down to the lower area and get onto dry land along the east
side. Make your way back up the ledges again with Midna's help. When you
reach a ledge where a waterfall is above you and there is a small platform
you can climb onto, hop onto that platform and continue moving upward to even
higher ledges. Soon after, when you reach the top of Zora's Domain, follow
the path going northward into the throne room.
In there, follow the dry path going around the room and past the throne. On
the west side, use your senses to look for a Zora lying on the ground. When
you reach them, dash into the nearby wall to knock off a dark insect. Defeat
this flying bug and collect its tear. Then, jump into the water and follow
the current downstream. In the next area, jump down the waterfall and keep
swimming to the river.
Upper Zora's River
After you leave the domain, you will still be in the water swimming along.
Stick to the left side as you go under the overpass. When you reach the more
open area, swim along the left wall to the southeastern branch of the river.
This will lead you out to Hyrule Field.
Hyrule Field
Once the fast-moving current subsides, get out of the water by walking up the
stairs on either side of the river. Once on dry land, continue your run to
the southeast, defeating enemies along the way if you choose. When you enter
the next area, continue going southward until you reach the castle walls. As
you approach the bridge leading into town, barriers will appear and you will
have to face the three shadow beings yet again.
After you defeat the shadow beings like you normally would (luckily for you
they are all close together this time), head across the bridge into town.
Castle Town
Upon your arrival in town, take the first path going southward to the south
road. Follow that along until you reach an intersection; continue going
straight to the west at that point, towards the bar from earlier. Use your
senses and check the boxes in the corner to find the next dark insect. After
you collect its tear, talk to Midna when her prompt appears. She will point
out that the final tear is at Lake Hylia, although it seems rather odd that
it would appear now. To make things easier, talk to Midna and warp to the
lake.
Lake Hylia
When you appear in this area, you will see a giant dark insect moving around
in the water. So, jump into the lake and swim towards the group of platforms
in the middle area. Climb onto one and jump around, and the giant dark insect
will emerge, which you must defeat to obtain the final tear.
Use your senses to see where it is, and try to keep Z-Targeting on it at all
times. When it flies low and without its electrical barrier, do a jump
attack, then hit A to cause damage while you're stuck to the creature. Do
that a few times, and the bug will float on its back in the water. Jump onto
its underside and use your energy field attack to attack all its legs,
killing it.
Once you beat this creature and collect the tear, your Vessel of Light will
be full and you will return to the spirit's spring. You will meet Lanayru,
and witness some interesting scenes which I will not spoil. The twilight will
also be cleared from the region and you will revert back to human form. The
spirit will then direct you to the Lakebed Temple beneath Lake Hylia, but the
trouble is you can't really get there just yet.
When you have control, exit the spring. Outside, follow the dry land path
going east and north across some bridges. When you reach the building on the
water, talk to the clown guy in front and pay 10 rupees to take his fantastic
flight. Go into the house and you will get launched up to a high ledge
overlooking the lake (this is the way to get from the lake surface to the
high area by the bridge, so remember this).
At the top, go into the nearby building which is the Flight and Fowl game.
Exit through the door you will be outside in Hyrule Field again.
Hyrule Field
Head up the path from the mini-game building, and you will find some grass
along the side of the road. Pick it and call Epona, then ride to the north.
You will be stopped by the postman along the way, who will deliver two
notices, one of which you will want to read. Barnes, the Bomb Shop owner in
Kakariko Village, is now selling a water bomb. Additionally, the fishing hole
and rapids are now open at Upper Zora's River.
Anyway, head northward on Epona some more. At the path split, you can use
bomb arrows to clear the way. That path is more of a shortcut to the north
than anything, so don't worry too much about it right now. Continue going to
the north and west to reach another area of the field. Head west towards the
castle, but go just a little north of the bridge that leads to town. Dismount
and climb the vines to find the golden wolf from the Upper Zora's River
statue you activated before.
Learn your third skill, the Back Slice, from the warrior skeleton. After you
are done with that, move a little bit to the south, then west across the
brdige into the castle town.
Castle Town
When you enter, take the road going south to the next area. Continue going
south and all the way west through town, and head towards Telma's Bar. When
you reach the alleyway, go down the steps and enter the bar. Inside, you will
find the Zora Prince, as well as Ilia and the bar's owner Telma tending to
him. They talk about the Kakariko Village shaman and say that she can help
the prince, but they need to be escorted to the village. That ends up being
your job, and after a brief explanation from Telma regarding Ilia, you're
out.
Hyrule Field
You will have a quick scene outside, overlooking the Great Bridge of Hylia
guarded by monsters. Your job will be to escort their wagon through Hyrule
Field, while warding off any and all dangers along the way. Begin by riding
alongside the wagon southward to the great bridge. When you get there, you
will have another round of jousting against a boar-riding monster. This guy
is shielded, so you will have to use your arrows to shoot its body from a
distance as you approach. Do this a couple times and the monster will get
knocked off the bridge, winning you 2 Gate Keys.
Along the path to the gate, you will have to deal with archers shooting fire
arrows from above. If they hit the wagon and it starts to catch on fire
(you'll see this by a meter that appears along the top of the screen), target
the wagon and use the Gale Boomerang to clear it. When you get to the gate,
dismount and open it manually. For the trek across a large expanse of the
field, you will deal with archers as well as giant bomb-dropping birds. Use
your Gale Boomerang to eliminate the birds, and your arrows to handle the
archers. Try to clear the enemies quickly since they will just keep diverting
the wagon with attacks until you do so.
When you reach the second gate, open it and clear the remaining enemies. Make
sure the wagon is okay by using your boomerang, then ride onward to the
village.
Kakariko Village
As soon as you arrive, there will be a scene with Renado (the shaman) and the
children, of course. After a bit of conversation with Colin, and then with
Telma, you will have control of Link again. Because you made it here safely,
the spirit of the Zora queen will appear to you. Follow her spirit south and
west into the graveyard.
Graveyard
Here, follow the spirit to the back end of the cemetery. At the far end, you
will reach a gravestone, which will disappear revealing a hidden passageway.
Crawl through it and swim across to the grave at the other side. The queen
will then speak to you, explaining that this is King Zora's grave. As she
promised earlier, she will open the grave and give you Zora Armor. When
equipped, you can now dive/swim underwater without having to come up for air.
The tradeoff is that you will be more vulnerable to fire/ice attacks.
When you're ready, swim back and crawl through the opening, then return to
town.
Kakariko Village
Here again, make your way north to the Bomb Shop. Inside, Barnes will have
the Water Bombs in stock, so buy them now. If you didn't get the second Bomb
Bag yet, you will be replacing regular bombs with water ones if you buy them
with just one bag, so you may want to get that done. When you are ready to
continue, head back to the graveyard.
Graveyard
Make your way through the graveyard, then crawl through the hole to the
hidden section. This time, put on the Zora Armor and dive to the bottom of
the pool. Put on your Iron Boots so you can stand while underwater, then use
a Water Bomb to clear the northern boulders. Then, swim through to reach Lake
Hylia via an extremely useful shortcut.
Lake Hylia
When you arrive in the lake, swim to the east a bit. Swim towards the blue
dot on your map, then sink to the bottom by wearing the Iron Boots. Down
there, use a Water Bomb on the circular patch to the north, which will cause
air bubbles to shoot upward. Place another Water Bomb on the air bubbles and
it will rise, exploding in front of a second boulder above. Then, remove the
boots and swim through that upper opening to enter the Lakebed Temple.
Lakebed Temple
In the opening room, begin by swimming northward through the tunnel while
avoiding the enemies you face. At the end, swim upward to enter the actual
temple itself. Open a chest behind you to get 10 Water Bombs, then head up
the north steps. Turn around and jump to the lever in the air to weigh it
down, opening the door. So, head into the next room.
There, go forward and a stalactite will fall from the ceiling. After Midna
talks to you, equip your bomb arrows and shoot the rest of them down (they
look like icicles, but the bottom is large with a thin part above it, just so
you know what to shoot down). Then, go down and jump from one of the fallen
stalactites to the upper ledge. If you want, climb to the ledge to the left
and get 10 more Water Bombs. Otherwise, go through the door into the next
room.
In this large hub, as I will reference it as, defeat the lizard enemy and
enter the central chamber. The way to get around the temple is by pulling
levers, which will rearrange the center staircase, allowing access to
different rooms. For now, go all the way downstairs and follow the path going
clockwise around the room down there. Near the end of the path, you will see
a lever in the air. Jump off the ledge and grab the lever to shift the
stairs, then head upstairs. Head to the east side and jump to another lever,
then go downstairs. Go right and open the chest for the Dungeon Map, then
head into the west room.
Go down the western hallway, defeating the enemy there by using your Back
Slice skill, then enter the following room. In that room, go right and down
the narrow path through a cave. When you reach the gap in the path, shoot the
stalactite down to fill the hole. Go across and head right, then drop down to
the west side of the room. By the water geyser, aim up and shoot another one
down. Then, climb onto the ledge atop the geyser and ride it upward. Jump to
the ledge with a chest on it; open the chest to get a Small Key. Now, get to
the center platform and climb to the left, then head back up and out of this
room.
Back in the center room, head upstairs and run around to the west side.
Before you unlock the door, break the lone pot just ahead to find Ooccoo.
Now, unlock the door and head down the western hallway to reach the next
room. In there, open a chest to the south to find 5 Water Bombs. Head north
and shoot the stalactite off the ceiling, then climb the vines to reach the
upper-right ledge. Once there, jump and pull the lever to open the doorway
below you. Head to the west and shoot a bomb arrow to clear the way, then
continue to the room in the west.
In here, simply go through the other doorway leading back to the same room.
This time, go around to the other end and open the chest to find a Small Key.
Then, enter the door which will lead to the center area. In that room, defeat
the lizard enemy without falling off the center platform (if you fall, you'll
have to backtrack a bit to get back up here). Then, enter the north room and
go west into the room over there.
In the western room, unlock the gate and drop down to the lower area. Turn to
the right and climb up the vines, then climb over the wall and follow the
path as it goes upward around the perimeter of the room. At the top, open a
chest to find 10 more Water Bombs. Then, climb up the ladders to reach the
top of the arch, then jump to the lever in midair. This will send water
flowing down the ramp you just walked up. Slide down to the pool below and
jump to the second lever from the middle platform to open another floodgate.
Then, go east and into the southeast room (the one with water flowing
underneath).
Here, go down and enter the room to the left. Now that the water is flowing,
the platform will be rotating as well. Get to the east side of this room,
then through to the floor below. When you land, climb the vines and get onto
the east ledge by the door. Turn towards the middle area and you will see 3
platforms hanging from above and moving. Jump onto one and ride it around,
then jump to the northern ledge and enter that room. In that room, go left
and open a chest to find a Small Key.
From here, go back to the previous room and hop onto a moving platform. This
time, ride it to the west door and enter that room. Unlock the door in there,
then put on your Iron Boots as you go underwater. Follow the path as it goes
down, while avoiding the jellyfish enemies for now. When you see an air jet,
go right and open a chest to find 20 rupees. Then, continue down the path
into a new room. There, swim to the surface and the hole will close behind
you. Defeat the 3 fish that fall from above, then look at the ceiling to spot
the giant frog mini-boss.
This giant frog has a whole slew of fish eggs on its back, and it will knock
all those eggs onto the floor, causing them to become fish and chase you
around. Defeat all the small fish (spinning sword attacks come in handy here)
and the frog will jump high in the air. Keep moving and stay out of its
shadow when it falls, so that you don't get trapped underneath it. After the
frog falls, it will be temporarily stunned with its tongue sticking out.
Attack its tongue a few times and then it'll hatch more fish eggs to attack
you with. Do this for a couple more rounds to win the fight.
Once you beat the mini-boss, open the chest it spits out to receive the
Clawshot. You can use this to grapple onto those red targets you've seen
throughout this temple. Use it to reach the ledges around the room for a lot
of rupees, then go by the southern doorway. Use the Clawshot on the target
above the door to pull down a ceiling switch, opening the gate. Drop down and
exit this room. Defeat the enemies with armored fronts by attacking from
behind or using the Clawshot to remove their armor before attacking. Then,
continue to the south room.
In the room with the rotating platforms, hop onto one and ride it to the east
side of the room. Then, jump off and go into the east room. Head down the
hallway to reach the central hub. Once there, you will see the water will
rise a little bit. Go right and use the Clawshot on the vines on the wall to
get over the barrier. Walk to the east side of the platform, then aim at the
Clawshot target above the gap to rotate the stairs so the water flows down
them and to the east. Then, follow the water into the eastern room after the
hallway.
When you reach the room with the hanging platforms, jump onto the first
hanging platform, then use the Clawshot on the target above you. Drop to the
platform below and open the chest to get some Water Bombs. Then, Clawshot to
the vines on the wall and climb to the nearby ledge. Clawshot over to the
vines on one of the large pillars and land on the ledge there, then Clawshot
over to the vines on the northern wall. Climb to the right and drop onto the
ledge there, then enter the northern room.
In this room, you will see a couple of water geysers to the right. Look above
the right geyser and shoot a bomb arrow at the stalactite to drop it onto the
geyser as a ledge. Climb onto it and ride the geyser, then jump over the wall
and beat the enemies below. Use the Clawshot to reach the target above the
east door, and then enter that room. Look to the ceiling and Clawshot the
vines, then drop down at the other side of the gate.
Drop into the water and climb up the vine wall to the right, then follow the
path as it goes up and around this room. When you reach a gap, Clawshot to
the target at the other side and continue. Once you get to the top, open the
chest to get 10 regular Bombs, then go towards the middle area and use the
Clawshot to get to the upper ledge. Open the chest to get the Compass, then
jump over the wall. Walk under the arches and climb the ladders on either
side to get to the top. From there, jump to a lever which will cause water to
flow downstairs.
Slide down the watery slope until you reach the pool below. Quickly swim to
the middle platform and jump to the second lever, which will open the gate so
water can flow to other rooms. Clawshot to the vines in the ceiling to get
over the gate, then head through the right door into the next room. Go down
and Clawshot the overhead target to raise the gate in front of you. Head into
the door to the left, which is where the hanging platforms are.
Look down and to the right, and Clawshot to the vines on the pillar. From
that ledge, wait for the target under the western gear to come close, then
grapple to it. Drop onto one of the smaller platforms as you pass over them
(move downward while hanging to get an idea of where said platforms are).
Then from that point, Clawshot to the vines on the west wall, then climb up
to the ledge. Now, turn around and jump onto one of the moving and hanging
platforms. Ride it to the east, then Clawshot the target below the eastern
gear when you are close. Let yourself hang until you're over the ledge by the
east door; at that point, drop down and enter that room.
In this room, dive into the water and swim to the very bottom, then head
north and east through the passages. Surface at the other side, then swim
around the middle of the room until you find a wall with a boulder in it
below the water. Use your Iron Boots to stand on the ledge in front of it,
then Clawshot the piranha enemy which doubles as a Water Bomb. Toss it at the
boulder in the wall to clear it, then take off the Iron Boots and swim
through.
At the other side, swim to the southeast and put on the Iron Boots to spot
another boulder. Use a Water Bomb to clear that one, then go through and
surface at the other side. Climb onto the dry platform and head through the
door into the next room. In here, defeat the lizard in a bubble by using the
Clawshot on it, then attacking with the sword. Clawshot the target on the
ceiling to pull a switch out, opening a hole in the floor. Lower yourself
into the room below while still hanging from that switch, then when you land,
open the chest to get the Big Key.
Now, drop into the water and put on the Iron Boots, and head into the east
room. Swim through the tunnel while avoiding the jellyfish, then swim through
the opening where you bombed the boulder to the west. At the other side,
surface and climb onto the dry ledges. Then, enter the west room. In there,
make your way across the room by using the Clawshot to grapple the targets
under the east gear. Lower yourself onto the ledge with the pots, then
grapple to the target on the western gear when it's close enough. From that
one, lower yourself onto the platform with the chest. Then, Clawshot to the
vines on the west wall, climb up them, and head through the door.
Go down the hallway, rolling under the water wheel when there's an opening.
When you get to the central hub room, you will see that the water has risen a
little bit more. Drop off one of the ledges or Clawshot your way around the
room so that you can drop into the middle pool of water. Swim to the center
platform and unlock the boss door, then go into that room. In here, you will
face off against the Twilit Aquatic monster, Morpheel. Read the Bosses
section for help defeating this creature.
Upon defeating Morpheel, you will receive the final Fused Shadow which Midna
will take. Pick up the Heart Container, then talk to Midna to exit.
Hyrule Field
After you exit the temple, there will be a long scene relating to the plot.
For the sake of spoilers, I will not describe this scene. However, you will
become a wolf again and the light spirits will tell you to see Princess Zelda
at the castle. You will then be left off in northern Hyrule Field by the
river.
Take control of Link and head to the east, following the southeastern path to
the next segment of the field. Then, continue going southward until you reach
the bridge. At that point, head west and across the bridge into the castle
town.
Castle Town
As soon as you enter town, take the southern path. Follow it all the way
south, then all the way west to the alleyway. Go down the stairs and attempt
to enter Telma's Bar, whose door will be open. The people inside will kick
you out, but as you head back up the stairs, Telma's cat will open a window
and talk to you. She will tell you that the bar leads to the castle's
waterway, but you will have to be undetected by the humans to get through the
bar. Push the nearby box against the other boxes, then climb up and enter the
window.
You will be in the attic of the bar, but you will have to try not to get
noticed by the people below. Cross the three tightropes while trying not to
break any pots, then climb onto the ledge and head through the passage at the
far end. Drop down into the room below and you will be in Jovani's house. Use
your senses to defeat the Poe in the room, then finish it off to collect its
soul. After you do that, talk to Jovani, whose soul was lost. He will ask you
to find and defeat other Poes so that he can regain his own soul. Jovani will
also open the passage to the waterway for you, so drop down to the waterway
below.
Castle Waterway
When you slide into the waterway, defeat the rats that are hanging around. At
the north end of the room, target and bite the lever hanging overhead to open
the gate leading northward. Then, follow that water current into the next
room. Once there, swim onto the dry land and defeat the two spiders on the
stairs (you'll have to approach the webbed doorway to make the second one
come down). Now that it's safe, pick up a stick and light it by walking next
to one of the torches, then use it to burn down the webbing.
In the next room to the north, defeat the 3 Keese that are flying around.
Then, go back to the room you just came from and light another stick by the
torch. Carry it to the new room and light a torch there, then relight the
stick when it goes out. Climb onto the northwest ledges and burn down the
web, then drop down to that next area.
Defeat some more bats, as well as a guard in this room. Break open the boxes
in the corner to find 20 rupees, then continue to the final room. Beat one
more guard, then dig in the dark dirt patch in the middle to reach the floor
below. You will end up in the dungeon you went through when you first became
a wolf earlier in the game. Go north and west to the large round room, then
make your way up the stairs, using the tightropes to advance when you cannot
pass further on the steps (Midna cannot help you here this time). Be careful
since there will be plenty of enemies on the way to the top this time. Once
you get to the top, go through the door to get outside.
Out here, head northward and defeat a couple of guards along the way. When
you reach the wooden box, climb onto it and then onto the western ledge. Drop
down the other side and continue going northward along the path. When you
reach the seemingly dead end up ahead, you will see a bridge of sorts that
will be usable when the wind kicks up. Wait for the bridge to start blowing,
then quickly dash across it. On the ledge at the other end, face the east and
drop to the rooftops below. Follow the blue roofs going north and east, then
jump onto the ledges and enter the castle tower.
In here, drop down to the stairs and follow them upward. At the top, go
through the door to Zelda's room. You will now witness a long cutscene
involving Princess Zelda and Midna. She will tell you to head to the Sacred
Grove and collect the Master Sword, and will also restore Midna's power in
the process. Following this scene, you'll be sent outside, at which point you
will see the castle become encapsulated in twilight. You cannot fix that at
the moment, though.
Hyrule Field
With control of Wolf Link, your destination will be the Faron Woods. It's a
long run from here, so you can either run through Hyrule Field or use Midna
to warp to North Faron Woods (I warped, so you probably should as well).
Faron Woods
When you arrive here, head northward. Pass by Trill's Shop, and you will see
the monkey from earlier at the Forest Temple. She will then be attacked by 4
puppet enemies; defeat them and the monkey will mention a pretty area behind
the waterfalls. Before the path leading to the temple, look to the east side
and you will see a slight hill you can walk up. At the top, talk to Midna and
then make some jumps with her help.
Once you make it behind the waterfall, defeat the bats and go forward onto
the bridge. There are two sections of this bridge; stand by the second pole
and wait for that section to rotate. At that point, walk onto the adjacent
ledge and you will see some tightropes to go across. Wait for the giant
pendulums to swing to the side before walking across the ropes.
Once you cross the ropes, run to the south and listen to the next Howling
Statue. It will send the golden wolf to Zora's River, so you will have to
return as regular Link soon. For now though, continue south into the Sacred
Grove.
Sacred Grove
In this area, go forward and look to the left to find a Triforce stone.
Listen to it and howl along with its melody (Zelda's Lullaby). Continue into
the grove and defeat the puppet enemies along the way, and you will soon find
a puppet with a horn (you will hear the difference in the music when you are
close to it). Attack the horn-player and he will warp to another new section
of the grove. Basically, what you have to do is navigate the grove by
attacking this horn-playing puppet and following it to the next area.
When you reach the last area, there will be numerous platforms where the
horn-player will stop and play his horn, thus summoning more enemies to
attack. Be patient; if you try to attack him quickly, he will warp off to
another platform in the same area. The trick here is to wait until he's about
to play the horn again (try to eliminate the enemies he summons to trigger
this). While he's about to play the horn, Z-Target and do a jump attack.
Repeat this process several times and then the horn-playing puppet will run
off into a new area and then disappear.
So, run into the new area of the grove. There, you will see a sealed doorway
and two guards standing outside of it. Stand on the Triforce symbol in the
center area and howl Zelda's Lullaby again. The area will become a heart-
shaped grid, and the guards will move to the tiles just above and below you.
The object here is to lead each guard back to their original platform.
However, if you jump in a direction, the guards will each turn and jump in
the same direction you do, assuming there is a platform to jump onto. Also,
if you jump onto the same platform that one of the guards is jumping to, you
have to start over. The layout of this puzzle is the following:
___ ___ ___ ___
| | | | | | 1 = Guard L's original position
|___|___|___|___|___| 2 = Guard R's original position
| | 1 | Rv| 2 | | L = Guard L's current position/direction
|___|___|___|___|___| R = Guard R's current position/direction
| | | | | | W = Wolf Link's initial position/direction
|___|___|___|___|___|
| | W^| |
|___|___|___| Solution: Down, Up, Left, Up, Right,
| | | | Down, Down, Down, Up, Up,
|___|___|___| Left, Up, Up, Right, Down
| L^|
|___|
After you complete this puzzle, the guards will open the way to the final
area of the sacred grove. So, head northward and up the stairs. Approach the
Master Sword and check it out. A scene will take place, showing Link
transforming back to a human and claiming the sword. Midna will also collect
the embodiment of your wolf form, so you now have the ability to change to a
wolf (and back to a human) anytime you want. Midna will also ask you to help
her seek out the Mirror of Twilight, and suggests heading to Castle Town for
information.
Now that you know where your next stop will be, transform into a wolf and
warp to Castle Town.
Hyrule Field
Once you arrive just outside of the castle's entrance, transform back to a
human. As you walk across the bridge into town, the postman will stop you to
deliver a letter from Telma. After he leaves, read it to find out that Telma
wants you to stop by and meet some new allies. So, continue across the bridge
and head into town.
Castle Town
Back in town, head south and west to Telma's Bar (you should know the way by
now). Inside, go forward and Telma will call to you, telling you to speak
with the 3 people around the nearby table. Talk to the two people on the left
side, and then the guy on the right who turns out to be the mayor of Ordon.
They will talk about a fourth man, Auru, who is observing the desert from
Lake Hylia. Check the map on the table for a precise location of Auru.
Before you set out, you may want to exit the town via the southern exit and
meet the golden wolf to get Hidden Skill #4. Whenever you are ready, warp to
Lake Hylia.
Lake Hylia
Once here, become a human again and walk up the bridge to the south. Climb
the ladder and head to the left to find a Howling Statue. Become a wolf and
listen/howl with it to make the golden wolf appear in a far eastern land.
From here, follow the high path going eastward to a tower. Climb the tower
(as a human of course) and talk to Auru at the top. Listen to his story about
the desert and the cursed mirror that lies in the prison there. Then, accept
his offer to go investigate it, and Auru will give you Auru's Memo which is
to be given to Fyer, the guy running the building on the lake.
Now, climb back down the tower and make your way to the building situated on
the lake. Assign Auru's Memo to one of your item buttons, then use it in
front of Fyer. Agree to be shot into the oasis, and you will end up in the
desert.
Gerudo Desert
When you arrive here, Midna will explain some more of the story about her
tribe and the Twilight Realm. Once that is done, you will have control of
Link again. Make your way to the southeast portion of the desert, going
towards that tower-like object in the distance. When you get there, use the
Clawshot on the tree to get onto the upper ledge. Then, Clawshot the flying
enemy and maneuver it so you land on the top platform.
Once you get up there, you will have to fight 3 shadow beings. Defeat them as
usual, and you will now be able to warp here. Check the object on the
platform here and Midna will wonder what it is as well. It turns out that
this is the missing portion of the Bridge of Eldin, so warp to that location
(Eldin province) to repair the bridge. After you do that, warp back to Gerudo
Mesa, which is the southeast area of the desert.
From here, head to the north by following the map. Up ahead, you will see a
couple of archers on boars charging toward you to attack. Get your Hero's Bow
equipped (as well as the Hawkeye if you bought it before in Kakariko Village)
and shoot the archers off their rides. Then, climb onto one of the boars and
ride it to the north. When you reach the gates, dash with the boar (they
simply charge ahead for several seconds without stopping).
When you reach the end of the path, get off the boar and climb up the ledges
to the upper area. Go just a little bit to the north and you will find the
golden wolf from the Lake Hylia statue. Meet with the skeleton warrior once
again and learn the Mortal Draw hidden skill from it. After that's done,
continue along the path behind it to reach tne next area.
As soon as you enter this section, you will see another archer in the
distance aiming towards you. Take it out from a distance yourself if you have
the Hawkeye + Hero's Bow combo, otherwise make a run for it while dodging
arrows. When you reach the concrete wall, take out the guards that charge at
you, as well as the archer in the tower if he's still alive. Then, run up the
hill to the east and continue into the enemy camp. In each segment of the
camp, defeat the massive onslaught of enemies that come at you from both
sides. You can probably avoid the large invasion if you pick enemies off from
a distance before they realize you are here.
As you make your way through the camp, you will see a couple of large gates,
one of which with a lock on it. Continue onward, defeating the archers in the
towers and any other enemies that come your way. When you reach the last area
of the camp, defeat the single enemy standing by the roasted boar and pick up
the Small Key. If you want, you can also destroy the cooking meat and collect
a Piece of Heart. With the key, go back to the gates you just passed and
unlock the south one. Push the door and walk inside, only to be locked in.
Walk towards the boar and you will be confronted by the enemy tribe's leader,
who wields a giant axe. It knocks you and the boar down, and then battle will
commence. To beat this guy, you can just attack normally, but he will block a
lot with the axe. Make good use of your hidden skills here, specifically the
Back Slice and Shield Attack. When you defeat the leader, it will seemingly
walk out in the defeat, only to set fire to the entire camp.
To escape this mess, climb onto the boar and dash through the northern gate.
You will then automatically break through a string of gates, eventually
leading to the next area. In that area, dismount the boar and head up the
stairs. Then, go into the prison building, also known as Arbiter's Grounds.
Arbiter's Grounds
Starting off, walk forward and you will see the moving sands, and the enemies
that burrow beneath it. If you step in the moving sand, you will begin to
sink; sink too far and you'll be sent back to the room's entrance. To get
across here, use the Clawshot on the eastern wall's target, then jump across
the ledges in the middle area. Roll across the sand to get to the western
ledge (rolling is extremely useful when you have to move across sand, so that
you don't sink as soon), then use the Clawshot to pull the lever towards you.
Then, pick it up and pull it to open the north gate.
Head up the hill to the north and you will reach a split in the path. An
alcove to the left has a pot of Lantern Oil, so feel free to fill a Bottle or
two with the stuff just in case. Then, use your sword to break through the
wooden planks in the east doorway and enter that room. In there, go across to
the chest and open it to receive a Small Key. Defeat all the small insects
that will cling to you and slow you down, then roll over the sand and head
back to the first room. Now, unlock the north door and go into that room.
In this dark room, use your Lantern to see as you fight your way through
plenty of skeleton enemies. At the far end by the door, there are 2 unlit
torches to the sides of the door; light them to open the way into the next
room. There, go forward and you will see 4 Poes running out from the room
atop the stairs. They will unlight the torches, which will lock the way to
the north for now. The Poes will each hide in different rooms, but one will
remain here. Become a wolf and use your senses to see it, then attack and
finish it off to get its soul. Also, the first torch will be relit.
After you beat the first Poe, head to the northeast portion of the room to
find a big chest. Open it to receive the Dungeon Map. There is another chest
in the northwest area, containing a Piece of Heart. As a wolf, you can also
sniff the Poe you just killed to learn the Poe Scent. Use your senses to see
the actual scents (purple dust in the air), and you will see that one of them
leads into the ground to the west. Check the patch of dirt where the scent
leads and dig in that spot to find a lever. Pull it back to make stairs
appear leading downstairs. Become a human and head downstairs, then.
In the room down there, defeat the winged skull and you will see a small wall
at the center area that you can push around. Push it clockwise to move the
walls, giving you access to the north area. A ReDead will appear in front of
a chest in that northern alcove. Defeat it from a distance with a bomb arrow
(if you get close, it will stun you and attack).
After it's killed, open the chest to find a Small Key, then turn and look up
at a hole in the ceiling. Use your Clawshot on the target on the center
pillar in the room upstairs. Let go once you reach the target and you will
now be on the first floor. You can access the northern room in here as well
because you turned the pillar below.
In the north room, defeat the skull enemies, then become a wolf and use your
senses to spot the second Poe among the similarly colored lanterns. Finish it
off and collect its soul, then go back to the previous room. Drop through the
hole in the floor and push the wall in the center counter-clockwise to reset
the room to its original state. Now, exit the room to the east and go back
upstairs. Then, reenter the western room on the first floor. This time,
unlock the western door since it is no longer blocked by the wall, and enter
that room.
Here, make your way across the north side by rolling across the sand from
ledge to ledge. Climb onto a higher platform and you will see a large block
you can pull. Move it to the east until it falls off the slightly elevated
platform. Next, pull the block back 4 times, then push it all the way west.
Then, go up the steps and onto the left ledge, and jump across to another
platform with a chained lever. Pull the lever all the way back to raise the
chandelier across the room.
Once you pull the lever as far back as you can, let go and run up those steps
before the chandelier comes back down. Defeat the enemies and head up to the
second floor. In the upper room, open the big chest to the south to find the
Compass. You will see a statue in the middle of the room. Push the pedestal
in front of it clockwise to shift the walls around. Break through the wooden
barrier to the west and defeat a ReDead, then open the chest to find a Small
Key. Then, head east and unlock the door leading to the following area.
Make your way around the next room while fighting a horde of small skeleton
enemies. Towards the end, there are two ReDeads to face as well, so try and
take them out from a distance if you can help it. After you clear every enemy
in here, become a wolf and use your senses to find the spot where the Poe's
scent ends. It will lead to a patch of dirt near a wall; dig in that spot to
find a lever.
Pull that lever back to open up the adjacent wall, revealing the third Poe.
Fight it, then finish it off to collect its soul, restoring another torch in
the main room. Now, become a human and continue to the northern room. There,
go down the steps to the middle area, then open the chest to the right to
find a Small Key.
As soon as you collect the key, become a wolf and use your senses to find all
the invisible rats that will cling to you. Beat them all with spinning
attacks, then become human again and walk along the perimeter of the room,
jumping over a gap, to reach the locked door. Unlock it and continue into the
eastern room. In the main room with the torches, jump across the chandelier
to reach the opposite ledge, and enter that room.
In this room, go down the steps and drop to the lower area. Push the large
block forward until it falls into place, then open the chest in the room
behind the block to get 20 rupees. Climb onto the block and defeat the sand
enemies if they jump onto your platform, then pull the lever all the way back
until you can't pull it anymore. At that point, let go and run to the
slightly lower portion of the ledge below the chandelier. Stand there and
wait for it to come back down, then climb onto the north side of the
chandelier and jump to the eastern ledge. Then, simply go through the door
into that room.
Go forward and you will have to face a large skeleton knight. Attack it with
your sword (the Shield Attack + Helm Splitter will put it out quickly), then
when it crumbles, use a bomb to completely defeat it. Break all the wooden
walls in the room and open both chests to get 10 Bombs, then head to the
south room. Here, you will see 6 unlit torches to the south. Light the one
that's by itself, then light the far right (west) one. If you light any of
the other torches, you will be locked in the room and forced to fight a ton
of skeleton enemies. Light the correct ones as I just stated, and the western
wall will move, revealing a door. Head through the door into that new room.
In there, become a wolf and use your senses to spot the fourth Poe. Try to
approach the Poe and it will split into four bodies. They will all spin
around you for a while, and then the real one will become solid and attack
you. Look for the solid one (its color will be lighter than the others) and
attack it when you have the chance. Do this twice, then finish it off to
collect its soul. Doing this will also restore the final torch in the main
area, granting you access to the northern chamber on the first floor.
From where you are, go into the northern room. Become a human and use the
Clawshot on the west target, then drop down and go through the west door to
reach the torch room. Now that the four torches are lit, the northern gate
will rise, so head up the steps and into that room. In this new area, go
north and defeat the fiery skull enemies, then enter the western room. There,
drop down to the bottom of this tall room. Defeat any enemies you encounter,
then push the center wall counter-clockwise twice. Then, go through the east
passage to reach the chest with a Small Key inside.
Now, go back to the center pillar and push it clockwise three times. You
should now be at the very bottom of the room; unlock the southern door and go
into that room. When you enter the next room, become a wolf and dash across
the sand to the east. Use your senses to defeat the invisible rats, then make
your way to the southwest corner of the room. Once there, become a human and
pull the lever all the way back. When you're ready, let go and become a wolf
again, then run to the north and east around the spike barriers as they pop
up.
Make your way to the southern room before the wall that you pulled back
blocks the way again (you may want to kill all the enemies in the room before
you attempt this, should they try to slow you down). If you make it safely to
the other side, follow the path to the east. Avoid the spinning traps along
the walls, and pass when the coast is clear to get across the room. Stop when
you reach the middle platform to defeat all the small bugs that will cling to
your body. At the end of this corridor, roll across the sand to the south and
break the pots to find Ooccoo.
After you free Ooccoo, roll to the north and enter that room. In here, use a
spinning attack to kill the small bugs as they approach. You will see another
large pole spinning around the center of the room in front of you. If you
stand on the brown tiles going around the room, you will be safe. When it is
safe, go north and two large skeleton knights will rise up to fight you.
Attack them until they fall, then use Bombs to defeat them.
Next, roll over the sand to a western platform where you will find the third
skeleton. Fight it, then bomb it to open the gate in the previous area. Head
back to the south area by the spinning pole, and take the west path now that
it is open. Clawshot your way across this room so that you don't sink in the
sand while trying to cross the sinking ledges and dealing with the multitudes
of small insects. At the north end of this hallway, jump across the gap to
the other side and head up the stairs to reach the next room.
In here, go forward and cut one of the ropes, and the invisible swordsman
will come to life. Begin the mini-boss fight by switching to wolf form and
waiting for the enemy to try attacking with its sword (use your senses to see
it). At that point, Z-Target and attack since the ghost will be in a solid
state. After you attack it enough, the swordsman will become visible to the
naked eye, so switch back to human form.
It will then float around, occasionally shooting dark energy balls at you.
Avoid those and shoot the creature with an arrow, causing it to spin around
the room in an attempt to confuse you as it gets in close to attack. Z-Target
it when it gets close, and attack with your sword. When the skeleton bows its
head, attack with your sword a few times. Then, repeat this process as needed
until you defeat it.
Once the battle is over, go into the northern room and open the big chest to
receive the Spinner. You can use this to ride across the quicksand, and
travel along special tracks that line certain walls. To get out of this room,
walk to the edge of the platform where the chest is and use the Spinner to
ride the wall across the room. At the other side, jump to the higher track
and continue out to the previous room. From there, get off the Spinner and
exit to the southern room.
Back in the previous room, clear the pots to the left and use the Spinner to
ride the wall to the east. At the other side of the quicksand, jump with the
Spinner to the other side and continue riding the track to the top ledge.
Press A to stop, then enter the east room. Here, you will be required to use
the Spinner to navigate the chamber. Go against the track in the left wall
and use the Spinner to ride onto the sand.
Follow the path going straight, then when you reach the round platform with a
blade trap spinning around it, steer to the track to the left of it. Continue
going straight and attach to the right wall, and follow the track as it goes
up and around, eventually sending you in the air. When you land below,
continue up the hill to a chest containing the other Piece of Heart. Get to
the north wall and face east, then use the Spinner on the track. Pass by the
spinning spiked pole as you ride the track. Jump to the right track, then
back to the left one after the gap in the left wall, and follow the track as
it moves upward and to the southeast.
When you land in the southeast corner, get off with A. Go clockwise around
the track with the Spinner to reach the northern end of this room. Over
there, go up the hills to the east and you will reach a long stretch of track
on the walls, but there are spinning traps moving on these tracks as well.
Ride down that track, jumping back and forth to the other side to avoid the
traps as you progress. Once you reach the end of the line, go through the
west door to reach a new room.
Entering the room here, go forward and open the big chest to receive the Big
Key. Ride the tracks to reach the room to the west, where you will find gears
in the floor, as well as a slot for the Spinner. Stand in the middle spot and
use your Spinner, then press B repeatedly to spin around. This will move the
northern wall, giving you access to that room. In there, ride the track
around the perimeter of the room to the top area. Stop at the top ledge and
break the pots to find a fairy that you can bottle if you want. Otherwise,
start to ride the track back down, but jump onto the middle platform below.
On the middle platform, use the Spinner in its spot at the center, then press
B to spin repeatedly. This will light the two torches, and eventually cause a
new track to rise up around you. When it stops, use the Spinner to ride the
new track to the top of the room. Up there, follow the hill to the boss's
door. When you are ready, unlock the door and enter the room. In the boss
room, walk down the path to a giant skeleton at the bottom. You will run into
the twilight king, who will taunt you before resurrecting the giant skeleton,
Stallord. Read the Bosses section for help defeating this giant boss.
After the fight, collect the Heart Container and walk across the platform to
exit the tower. Outside, head up the stairs, jumping over the gaps along the
way. At the top, go inward and run in the other direction to find a statue.
Go forward and those shadow barriers will block your exit, leaving you to
fight with five of those shadow beings. Defeat three of them on your own,
leaving two of them close together. Then, defeat the final two with a
spinning sword attack to enable the portal above.
Now, go forward and use the Spinner to climb the statue, then spin at the top
of it to sink the statue and unearth a giant stone slab. You will then see
the Mirror of Twilight, but it has been fragmented. There will now be a scene
with the sages, who will explain everything about the mirror and the twilight
king, as well as a certain leader of thieves. The sages will direct you to
three new locations to recover the mirror shards.
When you have control of Link, have Midna warp you to Castle Town.
Hyrule Field
When you arrive in the field east of town, become a human and walk across the
bridge. The postman will appear and deliver a letter from Barnes, which
mentions a new type of bomb that he now sells. If you want it now (the
Bombling), warp to Kakariko Village and pick some up. Otherwise, head into
the Castle Town.
Castle Town
Upon entering town, head to Telma's Bar in the southwest portion of town (you
should know its location by now without me leading the way). Talk to Telma
and she will mention that one of your allies, Ashei, headed northward. Check
the map at the table where the others are sitting to get a precise location,
which turns out to be connected to Zora's Domain. That will end up being your
next destination, so head out of town and warp to Zora's Domain.
Zora's Domain
When you arrive here, swim down the current to the next area. There, switch
back to human form and jump down the waterfall, then swim to the dry ledge on
the east side. There will be Zoras standing around what appears to be a cave
entrance (it was frozen on your first visit here). Enter the eastern cave and
follow it to a new area.
Snowpeak
Out here in this icy area, go forward and talk to Ashei. They will tell you
about a giant who eats red fish in this region, but then tells you that the
path is impassable for now. You will also get Ashei's Sketch, which you are
asked to show to the Zoras for help. So, head back to Zora's Domain for now.
Zora's Domain
At the entrance of the cave you just came from are two Zora guards. Show them
the sketch and they will tell you that the monster was catching reekfish.
They will also suggest that the Zora Prince, Ralis, is supposedly the only
one who could catch such a fish. With that said, go out to a spot where noone
can see you, then warp to Kakariko Village. Once there, go to the Graveyard.
Graveyard
When you get to the graveyard, head to the west side and crawl through the
tunnel to reach King Zora's grave. Swim across and you will find Ralis
standing there. You will automatically talk to him when you get across.
Assign Ashei's Sketch to a directional button and show it to the prince, and
he will give you the Coral Earring hook for your Fishing Rod. He will also
tell you where to fish to catch the reekfish, only found in Zora's Domain.
With that done, head back through the tunnel and warp back to the domain.
Zora's Domain
Back here, head south to the next area. Out here, change back to a human
since nobody will see you, then jump down the waterfall. At the basin, swim
to the west side by a couple of islands in the water (one larger than the
other, those are the Mother and Child islands Ralis refers to). Look in the
water and you should see a couple of reekfish (they are red) swimming around.
Equip your Fishing Rod and throw the line out there. When the bobber goes
underwater after a fish swims towards it, pull back the remote. If it says
"FISH ON", hold the remote back until you ground the fish.
After you catch a reekfish, turn into a wolf and sniff its scent to learn it.
Now, become a human again and swim across to the east side. Once there, go
through the cave to Snowpeak yet again.
Snowpeak
In this area again, you will see that Ashei is gone. The blizzard is way too
blinding, so you really won't get too far on your own here. So, turn into a
wolf and use your senses to see the red reekfish scent form a path. Follow it
to the northeast and jump across some ice platforms over the water. At the
other end, continue across a snow field, defeating the white wolves along the
way. When you reach a cliff, run around it to find the hill and ledges to
climb up so you can continue following the scent.
After you climb up the ledges and continue following the path, you will soon
come to a dead end. Dash into the wall that the scent goes up and the snow
will fall, creating a hill. Luckily, you will also be high enough that the
blizzard does not affect you anymore, so you can stop using your senses to
see where you're going.
From this hill, continue along the path to the west. Along the way, you will
find the next Howling Statue off to the side, so check it out. Keep following
the scent and it will appear to go under the wall to the south. Use your
senses and dig at the proper location to enter a cave. Inside the cave, avoid
touching the ice or you will take damage, then turn back into a human. Climb
the ladder and hop up the ledges, while defeating Ice Keese on the way. Once
you reach the top of the area, go through the door to get outside again.
You will emerge in another blizzard full of Ice Keese floating around. Become
a wolf and follow the scent once more, but you won't get too far before being
confronted by three shadow beings from above. Defeat them, along with the Ice
Keese, and you will gain access to the portal above, should you want to warp
out and return here. Also, the blizzard has dissipated, and you will find
that monster sitting atop a nearby hill. Become a human again and approach
the beast.
You will find out that it is the same beast, also known as a Yeti, who was
eating the reekfish. Say yes to both of his questions and the Yeti will ask
you to follow him to his house. However, the only way to get there is by
snowboard, as he demonstrates by rolling into the tree to knock an icy slab
down, and then starts sliding down the path. Do the same and follow the long
path down the mountain. You can hold A to crouch, then release A to jump;
there will be a couple of gaps in the path, so be ready to jump. You can also
use your sword to attack enemies on the way.
When you reach the house, Midna will comment on the size of the place, given
the creature that lives inside. If you are ready, go up the steps and enter
the Snowpeak Ruins, which is the next dungeon to explore.
Snowpeak Ruins
In this mansion, start off by going forward and killing the Poe for its soul
(need to switch to wolf form to do that). Become a human, then enter the
north room. In there, you will meet the Yeti's wife, who is apparently sick.
Talk to her face to face and she will give you the Dungeon Map, and tells you
where to go look to find the bedroom key (the red dot on your map). So, head
into the west room from here.
In the west room, you will run into the Yeti you met at the top of the
mountain. He will offer you some soup, so feel free to fill a Bottle with it,
although it won't do a whole lot for you (Simple Soup only refills 2 hearts).
Check behind the shelves to the south and lift up the wobbly pot to find
Ooccoo. After that, head into the room to the north.
Here, you will have to deal with an ice block puzzle to activate the floor
switch. The room layout for this puzzle is as follows (the following solution
is functional, no matter where you placed the blocks prior to this point):
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
| | | | | X | X = Frozen Block/Unusable Space
|___|___|___|___|___| S = Switch
| | | | | |
|___|___|___|___|___| To begin, push a block to position 1, then the other
| | | X | | | block to position 2.
|___|___|___|___|___|
| | | | | | Push block 2 to the west, right next to block 1. Then,
|___|___|___|___|___| simply push block 2 southward onto the switch.
| 1 | | | 2 |
|___|___|___|___|
| S |
|___|
Complete this puzzle, and the eastern doorway will open up, so go into that
room. In that room, become a wolf and look to the east wall. You will see an
opening at the bottom of it; dig at that spot to end up outside in the
courtyard.
Outside, defeat the white wolves and open the visible chest to get 20 rupees.
You will also see a chest that is partially buried in the middle area; dig it
up and open it to receive a Small Key. Now, become a human and open the door
leading to the west room. In there, knock around the icy enemies on the
floor, then unlock the north door and go into that room.
Defeat the 3 ice enemies that slide around on the floor, trying not to get
hit by one to avoid being frozen. After you kill them, the doors will open,
so head to the northwest this time. In that room, try to approach the
southern door, only to be stopped by two icy guards. Defeat them with your
sword to open the doorway again, then enter the south room. There, open the
chest to receive an Ordon Pumpkin. Midna will point out that the Yeti's wife
messed up the directions, and that you should go ask her again.
From here, go into the next room to the south. There, climb up the boxes and
drop down to the lower area where the ice block puzzle was. Continue into the
next room to the south, where you'll find the Yeti cooking soup. Talk to him
and give up the Ordon Pumpkin so that there is a new ingredient in the soup.
If you bottle up some of it now, you'll get Good Soup which will replenish 4
hearts.
Head into the east room where the Yeti's wife is sitting. Talk to her and she
will mark a new location on your map, as well as open the northeastern door
in this room for you. So, head through the door leading to the courtyard in
the north. Out here, defeat some more white wolves (it may help if you become
a wolf to fight them). You will see that there is an icy enemy blocking the
way into the northern room where you need to go, and the nearby cannon isn't
working without ammunition. However, get to the northeast area and climb
through the window, then go through the door into a new room.
In here, make your way forward and pick up the cannonball, then follow the
path going around this room. Avoid the icy enemies along the way, as well as
the ice blocks to the sides. At the end of the winding path is a cannon; drop
the cannonball in, then drop a bomb in the hole to launch it to the west.
Doing this will melt an ice block in that corner; go over there to find a
chest containing 5 Bombs.
Pick up the cannonball and drop it back into the cannon. This time, turn the
cannon to the south and fire it again (use another Bomb). Doing this will
clear more ice blocks, including one that blocked the southern doorway. Now,
go across and enter the room to the south. In here, walk and jump your way
across the wooden beams, defeating the Ice Keese and the sliding enemies
along the way. Stay off the icy sections of your path to avoid falling into
the pit below. In the back corner is a big chest containing the Compass.
After you collect the Compass, make your way back out of this room. Head
through the west door, then climb out the window to reach the courtyard
again. Become a wolf and defeat the white wolves that may have reappeared,
then look on your map for the chest in the northeast area of this room. Walk
over it and you will be prompted to dig, so do so to reveal a chest. Dig
twice, then open the chest to receive a Small Key.
With the key in hand, turn back into a human and unlock the east door. In
that room, you will find 3 cannonballs. First, grab the lever on the wall,
then place a cannonball in the lowered slot. Go through the door again and
pull the lever on the other side to slide the cannonball down to the other
side. Pick it up and bring it over to the cannon, and insert it. Push the
cannon so it faces north, then drop a bomb inside and launch the cannonball
right into that ice creature, destroying it. Now you can access the north
room, so head into that room now.
In here, you will find 2 statues. Try to approach the far north door and it
will become blocked off. The first statue, which turns out to be a ball and
chain knight, will come to life and attack you in this confined space. There
are Clawshot targets lining the ceiling, so since you cannot attack the
knight directly (yet), wait until it gets close, then Clawshot over its head
to the other side of the room. After you do that, the knight will throw the
ball to attack. At this point, quickly draw your sword and attack its tail
from behind. Repeat this a few times until you win.
After the battle, take the Ball and Chain as your latest weapon, then enter
the room to the north. In there, use your new Ball and Chain to break through
the ice, giving you access to a chest. Open the chest to get some Ordon Goat
Cheese. This was clearly not the correct room either, so make your way
southward for 3 rooms to see the Yeti's wife yet again. Talk to her and she
will ask you to bring the cheese to her husband.
In the west room, talk to him again to give up the goat cheese. If you want,
bottle up some Superb Soup since it will replenish 8 hearts now. Now, go back
and talk to the Yeti's wife in the east room. She will point you to a room on
the second floor, and will then open the eastern doorway for you, so go into
that new area.
In this room, approach the path going upstairs and you will see another of
those ice monsters in the cage spraying its icy breath along the path. Wait
for its breath to go in the other direction, then quickly go up the path to
the opening in the cage and attack with your Ball and Chain. Go up a little
bit more and repeat this for the second large ice monster. Once you pass them
both, use the Ball and Chain on the eastern ice blocks to reveal a cannon.
After that, go into the north room.
Here, defeat the ice soldier in the opposite corner, then use the Ball and
Chain to destroy the ice block on the wall, revealing a Clawshot target. Use
the Ball and Chain to also hit the hanging platform so that it moves back and
forth. Jump onto it when it gets close, then ride it across and jump off.
Open the chest to receive a Small Key. Next, use the Clawshot on the target
to get back across, then exit the room. This time, go all the way south and
west to a locked door; open it and enter the new room.
Here in the new room, use the Ball and Chain to break the ice block on the
wall to reveal a Clawshot target (use this as a shortcut from the first floor
entrance room). Then, use the Ball and Chain to hit the moving platform so it
swings over. Jump onto it and ride it across, then hop off at the other side.
Defeat an ice enemy, then enter the room ahead. In the next room, the entire
floor will be icy, so maneuvering to avoid enemies can be tough. Use your
Ball and Chain to eliminate the sliding ice enemies, then enter the north
room.
Up there, simply drop down to the room below, where you have to push blocks
along the ice. Now that you have the Ball and Chain this time, use it to
break the ice over the floor switch in the center area, as well as the ice
surrounding the third block in the northeast corner. The room should be set
up as shown (if you didn't change anything since you first came here, the
blocks will still be in the same spot, but this solution is meant to help
those who may have messed up the layout along the line):
___ ___ ___ ___ ___
| | | | | 3 | S = Switch
|___|___|___|___|___|
| | | | | | Begin by pushing a block to position 1, then a second
|___|___|___|___|___| block to position 2. The third block should still be
| 2 | | S | | | at position 3; if it's not, move it there now.
|___|___|___|___|___|
| 1 | | | | | Push block 2 to the east. Move block 3 to the west and
|___|___|___|___|___| then to the south so that it's next to block 1. Push
| | | | | block 3 to the east so it ends up next to block 2,
|___|___|___|___| then push block 2 to the north corner. Move block 2 to
| S | the east and then southward, next to block 1. Finally,
|___| push block 2 eastward onto the center switch.
By completing this puzzle, you will open a door on the second floor. Climb up
the boxes to reach the upper level, then follow the path around to the
eastern door and enter that room.
In the east room, follow the path as it goes northward, while fighting the
ice warrior enemies. At the end of the path, use your Clawshot to grapple the
target on the wall to the north. Then, drop into that room and head through
the west door into the next area. When you arrive, use the Ball and Chain to
clear another ice block, revealing another Clawshot target on that wall.
Then, use the same item to hit the first hanging platform. Jump onto it, then
wait for it to stop moving before you hit the next hanging platform.
Once you reach the southern ledge, open the chest you find to receive a Small
Key. From there, simply go through the south door to the other side of that
sliding block puzzle room. Jump down to the boxes below and climb up to the
other corner, then jump across the gap to the south. Continue into the next
room to the south, where you will find those sliding ice enemies. Avoid them
if you can as you unlock the northeastern doorway.
Head into the new room, where you will find 2 large ice enemies to fight. Use
your Ball and Chain from a distance to destroy them, as well as the smaller
enemies that form from it. Now that the enemies are gone, go to the right
side of the room and push the two blocks so they fall off the ledge. Drop
down to the lower area as well, then follow the path as it goes down the
hill. At the bottom, go through the door to the north.
In this narrow outside area, push the block forward and you will see 3
cannonballs on the ground ahead. Take one and bring it back by the door.
Then, pull the lever and drop the cannonball into its slot on the wall. Go
through the door and pull the lever at the other side to retrieve the
cannonball. Take the ball and head up the winding path once more; at the top
you will find a cannon. Drop the cannonball in, then rotate the cannon so
that it faces the west. Then, drop a Bomb in the hole to launch the ball
across the room.
Now, go west and climb up the blocks to reach the room with the red carpet.
Pick up the cannonball you just shot over here and drop it into the slot on
the north wall, then pull the lever. Go through the northern door, then pull
the lever on that side to retrieve your cannonball once again. Walk over to
the middle platform and drop the ball into the cannon. Turn the cannon so it
faces the northeast corner, then insert a Bomb to launch it.
After destroying the giant ice enemy in the corner, go back to the door and
head eastward. Hop over the gap and drop down at the east side to the area
with the remaining cannonballs below. From there, run to the north and climb
the ladder. Once you're on the northeastern ledge, go through the east door
into that room. In there, wander around this seemingly empty room full of
pews, and quite a few ice warriors will fall from the ceiling to attack.
Defeat them all, one at a time if possible, using your sword or the Ball and
Chain (I found that the Mortal Blow hidden skill comes in handy here).
Once you finally clear the room, the doors will open of course. Enter the
north room and open the chest to finally receive the Bedroom Key. After Midna
comments on your findings, exit this room, then go west to exit the church
room as well. Outside, you will see the Yeti's wife, who appears to be much
better. She will lead you upstairs to the third floor bedroom, where the
mirror shard is located. If you want to get more of that soup, I would
recommend doing so right now.
When you are ready to continue with the level, head up the hill to the top
floor. Once there, unlock the door and enter the bedroom. Inside, you will
see the mirror shard hanging on the wall, and you almost receive it until
something goes wrong. The Yeti's wife becomes possessed, becoming a giant ice
boss. For help defeating the Twilit Ice Mass, Blizzeta, visit the Bosses
section of this guide.
Following the battle, you will receive the second Mirror Shard, at the
expense of Yeta (the wife). Yeto will come in and comfort his wife, which
will yield a Heart Container in the process. Pick it up, then talk to Midna
to exit this place. On the way out, you will be prompted to save your game.
Snowpeak
Out here again, you are still at the bottom of the hill, so you have real
means of transportation by foot. So, warp to Castle Town and pay Telma a
visit.
Hyrule Field
When you arrive at the portal location, become human and go across the
bridge. The postman will stop to deliver 2 new letters before heading off.
After that, simply continue into town.
Castle Town
Here, make your way to Telma's bar once again. In there, talk to Telma and
she will tell you that Rusi went to the woods. Check the map on the table to
spot your next destination, which is in the Faron Woods. After you're done at
the bar, go outside and warp to North Faron Woods.
Faron Woods
Upon your arrival in the woods, go north and up the slight hill to the side
to find Rusi. Talk to him and he will ask you to enter the temple in the
Sacred Grove. To get there, since you can't do it as a wolf right now, Rusi
will summon a golden cucco. Pick it up, then jump over the barrier straight
ahead. Land on the first ledge, then fly to the next one to the north. From
there, fly to the southeast ledge and follow the path to the bridge.
Z-Target the fan and throw the Gale Boomerang above the bridge to turn it,
then use the golden cucco to fly onto it. Use your Gale Boomerang again to
reach the west ledge. For the next part, wait for the pendulums to move to
the side before flying across the gaps. When you reach the platform at the
end, go south into the Sacred Grove.
Sacred Grove
In this area, go forward and you will meet Skull Kid once again. It's the
same exact sequence as earlier when you were a wolf: enemies are called when
Skull Kid blows his horn, you attack Skull Kid, and he runs off into a new
area. With that said, you have to make your way through the areas, finding
and attacking Skull Kid along the way. When you're going through the tunnels,
you can tell if he's in the area you're going to if you see an orange glow as
you enter. To attack him, use your sword (or arrows from a distance). You'll
know if he is near if you hear the horn's music playing, so look around if
it's not immediately obvious where he is.
After you hit Skull Kid a few times, you will be led to an enclosed area. In
there, Skull Kid will play his horn and summon enemies at you once again.
Defeat the enemies, then shoot him with an arrow. Do this three times before
Skull Kid finally gives up. He will open up a new passageway, so follow it to
the next area.
Here, go forward and push the block until it falls. Then, drop into the caves
below and head northward. Go past the guards and continue north to the site
of the Master Sword pedestal. Approach it and press A to strike it with your
sword to remove one of the guards in the previous area. Go back to the south
and you will be faced with five of those shadow beings. Defeat them like you
always have, and you will now have a portal leading to this area.
From here, go to the southwest and climb up the ledges to the upper area. You
will see a door that is no longer blocked, so open it. You will then go
through a portal leading into the Temple of Time.
There, go north to the Master Sword's pedestal and strike it again. This
time, some stairs will appear in front of you. Run up them and continue
inside the Temple of Time.
Temple of Time
Start by going forward into the main room here. After the introduction, head
north towards the door and Midna will point out that one of the statues is
missing. Become a wolf and use your senses, and you will see the second
statue appear where it should be. Turn off your senses and Midna will suggest
finding the other statue to fit in its place here.
Become a human again and stand on the switch on the elevated platform to make
a ledge rise up to the southeast. Place a pot on the switch, then run to the
raised platform and climb up to the steps. Go up the steps to the second
floor balcony, and you will find Ooccoo. After that, follow the path to the
west side, where you will find 2 unlit torches. Use your Lantern to light
them, then open the chest that appears to get a Small Key. Head up the stairs
to the south and unlock the door to enter a new room.
There, defeat the spider enemy, then place a pot on the center floor switch
to open the gates. The chest to the south contains 30 arrows, and if you hit
the bell to the east with your Ball and Chain, a fairy will come out that you
can put in a bottle. Follow the path going up the west steps, then when you
reach the second gate, turn around and shoot an arrow at the pot on the
switch to switch the gates. As you head up the next set of steps, take out
the 2 Lizalfos.
At the top of the stairs, defeat 3 more Lizalfos, then activate the Armos in
the corner. Defeat it by attacking its back or by shooting a bomb arrow at
it. After it's dead, open the chest that appears to receive the Dungeon Map.
The southern ledge has another small chest with 20 rupees inside, too. There
are 2 floor switches in front of the northern gate here; carry 2 pots onto
the switches to open the gate. Now, follow the path to the door leading into
a new room.
In the center of the next room, you will see a bunch of blue bug enemies
crawling around. However, there is an electric barrier blocking you from
going in. For now, go around the perimeter of the room, defeating the
Lizalfos and a Beamos statue (shoot an arrow at its eye). Head up the stairs
along the outside of the room, then use the Spinner to ride the track on the
wall, effectively crossing the hole in the steps.
At the top, walk onto the center platform and push the wall clockwise to
reach the middle area on the third floor below. Grab the metal pot, then
place it on the middle platform and push the wall counter-clockwise (while
you're down here, kill all the enemies to remove the electric barrier). When
you reach the upper level again, carry the metal pot around the outer circle,
avoiding the spinning traps as they come around. At the south end, place the
pot on one of the switches, then retrieve the other pot on the west platform.
As soon as you put the second pot on the switch, walk onto the white
rectangle before it rises up (if you're too slow, lift/drop a pot on the
switch to try again). At the upper level, go into the south room. In there,
kill the 2 Armos in the center area to make a chest appear. Open the chest to
get a Small Key. Atop the stairs is another chest with 20 rupees if you want
it. Otherwise, go back to the previous room. This time, make your way to the
north end. There, unlock the door and enter that room.
In this room, kill the Beamos to the north, then hit the crystal switch to
turn it red, moving the walls around. Go around to the room between the 2
golden rings. Shoot an arrow through the first ring to hit the crystal switch
again, turning it green. Head through the new passage and defeat another
Beamos, then open the south chest to get the Compass.
Now, shoot an arrow through both rings to make the crystal switch turn red
again. From there, go up the stairs and defeat a couple of Lizalfos along the
way. At the top, shoot the crystal switch on the high ledge to move the walls
again. Go into the next part of the room and kill the Lizalfos there (the
Mortal Draw hidden skill will come in handy against the fully armored ones).
Then, shoot the crystal switch again and fight another armored Lizalfos.
After that, shoot the switch yet again, then continue up the stairs and
through the door to enter a new room.
Here, defeat the spiders and their many babies to make a chest appear in the
northwest corner. Open it to get 50 rupees. Go up the stairs and walk onto
the right half of the balances. Pick up the metal pot on the first one, then
throw it onto the other side to weigh it down. Now, go across and climb onto
the next ledge, then go through the south door leading into the following
room.
In there, shoot the Beamos in the middle area, then avoid the spinning traps
that rotate around the central pillar as you head west. At the other end,
defeat a trio of Lizalfos. There will be spiked poles rolling back and forth
in the maze-like area in front of you. Trigger them, then run past when they
are going the other way to be safe. First, get to the southern platform and
past the swinging axe pendulum, then open a chest to find a Small Key. From
there, go to the northwest and pick up a metal pot. Trigger the spiked pole
so it moves west, then go around the fence and place the metal pot on the
floor switch.
With the electrical barrier removed, go up the stairs to the eighth floor. In
that room, defeat all the spider babies to make a chest appear containing 50
rupees. Defeat the 2 Armos to open the eastern gate, then climb onto the
eastern ledge and unlock the door to reach the next room.
Up here, go forward and you will have to face off against a fully armored
Ironknuckle. Make full use of your hidden skills, especially the Back Slice,
as you chip apart its armor. The best time to attack is when it is about to
swing its sword at you, at which point you perform a Back Slice to attack.
After you destroy all of its armor, the Ironknuckle will draw a second sword
for a classic swordfight with you. Employ the same tactics as before to
defeat him here.
After the fight, open the chest that appears to receive the Dominion Rod.
This will allow you to move statues and other inanimate objects, which will
be rather useful for the remainder of this temple. So, move to the center of
the room and equip your new rod, then shoot its beam at the statue on a high
ledge above the chest. Now, move across the room with the statue following
you, and lead it onto the special platform underneath the bell. This will
teleport the statue to the previous room. So, exit through the western door.
In this next room, the bell will rise up to reveal the statue. Use the
Dominion Rod to take control of the statue, then swing your sword and the
statue will swing its axe as well. Use the giant statue to destroy the closed
gate (press B), then lead the statue to the next room. Then, place a pot on
the floor switch to lower the southern platform. Then, lead the statue to the
spot where that platform was. Remove the pot to raise the platform, then lead
the statue down the hill.
When you get to the bottom by the electric barrier, drop the statue and get
behind it, then use the Dominion Rod to take control again. Have the statue
walk through the barrier and onto the floor switch to lower the barrier, then
drop the statue and run through. Lead the statue through the maze with the
spiked poles, then down the hill to the east. In the area with the spinning
traps, move the statue you have control of to the middle area, then have it
destroy the white statue.
After that, move your statue onto the white rectangle to the south. Then,
drop the statue there and take control of one of the small metal pots on the
high ledge. Move the pot onto the floor switch, then move your statue into
its spot below the bell to warp it to another room. Now, go through the
northern door. In the room with the balance, lead the statue onto the left
side of the balance.
Throw the 2 metal pots onto the right side, then climb onto the right balance
to even it out. Use the Dominion Rod to move the statue onto the right
balance, then head back to the west ledge. Use the Clawshot to reach the
southeast ledge, then pick up the metal pot there. Drop down to the lower
area, then defeat all the enemies wandering about. Pick up the pot and bring
it up the stairs, then throw it onto the left balance. Throw the other 2 pots
that are on the right side to the left side. Then, use the rod to pull
another metal pot off the wall above and throw that to the left balance. All
of this will balance it out entirely.
Now, use the Dominion Rod to pull the statue off the balances and lead it
downstairs to the warp spot. After the statue disappears, go back up to the
balances. Get the 3 metal pots to the left side so that the right balance
rises up. Then, Clawshot up to the middle platform and get to the east wall.
Use the Spinner to get to the east side, then enter the eastern room (there
is a Poe you can fight here too).
In this room, defeat the 2 armored enemies, then kill the Armos. Clawshot up
to the top ledge and carry the first two metal pots onto two of the switches.
Use the Dominion Rod on the metal pot on the high ledge, then pick it up and
move it onto another switch. Finally, use the Clawshot to pull one of the
armored shells below to the upper ledge. Place that on the last switch to
open the gate below. So, drop down and open the chest to receive the Big Key.
Now, exit the room, then go through the east door to a new room. In there, go
down the stairs to the fifth floor. Here, take control of the statue on the
other side of the fence and lead it to the north. Shoot the crystal switch on
the distant ledge to turn it red and move the walls around. Go north to the
next section and move the statue onto the floor switch, which will eliminate
the electric barrier.
From here, walk into the area where the statue is and open the chest in the
northeast room to find a Piece of Heart. Now, go back to the west side and
use the Dominion Rod to move the statue to the other side of the electric
barrier when it reappears. Shoot the crystal switch to turn it green, then
lead the statue northward with you. Once you get the statue past the wall,
shoot the crystal switch so it turns red again, moving the walls. Now, lead
the statue up the small ramp and then down some steps to the west.
In the next part of the room, move the statue through the first wall opening.
Drop it and shoot an arrow through the 2 gold rings to the crystal switch at
the far end of the room, turning it green. Lead the statue around the corner
to the warp spot below the bell to send it away. Then, shoot through the
first ring to hit the crystal switch again. After that, go around the wall
and through the door to the south.
When you arrive in the next room, head to the center platform, being careful
not to get hit by the traps rotating around. Push the center wall counter-
clockwise to reach the high ledge where the statue is. Use the Dominion Rod
to take control and pull the statue onto the center platform. Push the wall
clockwise twice to reach the bottom level with all the enemies. Defeat them
to remove the electric barrier, then lead the statue out of the center area.
Lead it to the northern gate, then destroy the gate (press B and the statue
will swing its axe) and walk the statue into the warp spot below the bell.
Now, head through the western door to reach the next room. Go down the stairs
to the gate, and use the Clawshot to get to the other side. From there, lead
the statue down the steps to the southeast until you reach a gate. The statue
won't be able to destroy this one, so Clawshot to the target above and get
across. Pick up a pot and place it on the center floor switch to open the
gate blocking the statue. Then, defeat the spider and move the statue to the
east side under the bell.
After the statue warps away, go through the door to the north, and drop down
to the first floor finally. Take control of the statue and lead it into its
spot to the right of the northern door. With both statues in place, the door
will now open for you. So, head through the door into the north room. In
there, avoid the trap and hop across the first gap. Destroy the 2 Beamos
statues, then pick up the metal pot on the left side.
Bring the pot with you to the north, then drop it on the floor switch to open
the first gate. Hop across the gap and go past where the first gate was, then
turn around and use the Dominion Rod to move the metal pot, switching the two
gates. Now, go north and past the final giant axe pendulum to reach the boss
door. Defeat the spider enemies and break open one of the pots to find a
fairy, then when you are ready, unlock the boss door and go inside.
In there, go forward and you will meet this temple's boss, Armogohma. Read
the Bosses section for help defeating this giant spider. Once you defeat it,
you will receive the third Mirror Shard. Collect the Heart Container, then
talk to Midna to exit this temple. Head south when you appear in front of the
Master Sword's pedestal and you will exit the temple entirely.
Sacred Grove
When you emerge from the temple door, Ooccoo will be waiting for you. She
will mention returning to the sky, but points out that the Dominion Rod is
rendered useless for now. You can't really do much else for now, so head to
Castle Town via the portal.
Hyrule Field
When you land, start heading across to the town itself. The postman will stop
you to deliver a letter from Renado, the shaman in Kakariko Village. The
letter will ask that you visit the village when you have time. For right now
however, head into the Castle Town.
Castle Town
Here, make your way to Telma's Bar, as usual. Inside, talk to Telma and she
will suggest that you head to Kakariko Village as well. One of your allies,
Shad, is already there investigating the situation. So, exit the bar and warp
to Kakariko Village.
Kakariko Village
When you arrive, switch back to human form and enter Renado's house. It's the
first house from the fountain to the south. Inside, talk to Renado and he
will give you Renado's Letter, to be delivered to Telma. He will also explain
that Shad is in the basement checking out a statue. So, before you leave,
drop down into the basement and talk to Shad. He will draw your attention to
the statue and mentions that it may be a way to the sky. There isn't much
else you can do here right now, so climb back out of the hole and exit the
house. Now, head back to Castle Town immediately.
Castle Town
When you get back, go visit Telma at her bar yet again. Assign Renado's
Letter to one of the buttons, then give it to Telma. She will give you the
Invoice, which is to be taken to the town doctor, who she believes will be
able to help you further. Now it's time to leave the bar and find that doctor
so you can continue your quest.
The doctor is located on the west side of Castle Town, in the building next
to the western path out of town. Go inside and talk to the old doctor, and
give him the Invoice. He will be unable to pay you, and says that he would
have sold you the wooden statue from Ilia if it wasn't stolen from him, but
he also spilled medicine on it and complains about its stench. Since he won't
help you any further, go to the back of his house and push the box to the
left. Turn into a wolf and sniff the scent to learn the Medicine scent.
Now, climb the boxes and follow the high path outside. Once you're outside,
use your senses and follow the scent southward. Eventually it will lead
towards Telma's bar, where you will find Telma's cat sitting outside. Talk to
her and she will admit to stealing the statue, but then says it was stolen
from her as well by a pack of dogs south of the castle. However, the dogs
only appear at night. So, leave town via the southern exit.
Hyrule Field
Out here, wait until it's night time, then wander around south of the
courtyard. Two large groups of skeletal dogs will rise out of the ground to
attack (one group on each side of the area). Defeat all of them and you will
receive the Wooden Statue. Now, warp to Kakariko Village from here.
Kakariko Village
When you arrive, become a human and enter Renado's house. Set the Wooden
Statue to B, then use it in front of Ilia. She will start to regain some of
her memory, and then Renado will tell you about a hidden village to the north
of here. So, exit the house and call Epona (the grass is in front of the
spirit's fountain), and exit town to the north.
Hyrule Field
Make your way to the northwest from Kakariko Village, while fighting the
enemies that ride alongside you and attack. Cross the Bridge of Eldin and
continue going north until you reach the red mark on your map. It's just
after a small wooden bridge. When you reach that point, dismount and walk
into the now-open cave.
Talk to the Goron inside and he will clear the way for you. He will also
mention that there is a hidden village up ahead, with 20 enemies that you
must kill. The Goron also gives you a hint that you should take them out
before they spot you. So, when you are ready, continue into the village.
Hidden Village
When you arrive here, there will be a meter on your screen showing how many
enemies are in the area. You will have to defeat all the enemies in order to
progress. They are for the most part archers who sit on rooftops or high
ledges, so as soon as you enter the village, use the Bow/Hawkeye combination
to pick off the enemies you see. Then, go into each house and defeat the
remaining ones.
Once you find/kill all 20 enemies, an old lady by the name of Impaz will come
outside. Talk to her and she will give you Ilia's Charm. With that charm, go
back to Kakariko Village.
Kakariko Village
As soon as you return to the village, enter Renado's house. Show the charm to
Ilia and she will recover her memory fully. Ilia will talk to you for a bit,
giving you an idea on what to do next. She will also give you the Horse Call
so you can call Epona from any spot without having to look for grass! Now,
leave the house and return back to the Hidden Village.
Hidden Village
Back here, you will see that the town is safe and cats roam all over the
area. Head to the southernmost house and talk to Impaz inside. Set the
Dominion Rod to the B button, then use it and Impaz will realize you are the
messenger she has been waiting for. She will give you the Ancient Sky Book in
return. With it, return to Kakariko yet again.
Kakariko Village
Upon your arrival, go back to Renado's house. This time, drop into the hole
to enter the basement. Set the book to B and show it to Shad. He will try to
use it to activate the statue, but to no avail. He will then give you back
the book and mentions visiting other statues around the world with the book
(he will mark the locations on your map). Once Shad leaves, you will realize
that the Dominion Rod is now powered up again.

Bosses
Diababa
Found: Forest Temple
Strategy: The battle begins with two giant plants sticking out of the
water, occasionally extending towards you to attack. To destroy
them, use your Gale Boomerang to target a spider bomb, then
target one of the plants. Do this once for each one to clear
them both, causing the main boss to surface. Avoid doing
anything for now until the baboon from earlier appears. It will
swing back and forth, carrying spider bombs. Use your Gale
Boomerang and target the bomb as the baboon swings by, then
target the boss's head. If done correctly, the boss will eat
the bomb and will become stunned. When its head crashes down,
exposing its eyeball, run in with your sword and attack a few
times. If you want to disable the two side plants, send bombs
towards them as well. It should take just a few rounds of this
attack pattern to defeat the boss.
Fyrus
Found: Goron Mines
Strategy: This giant fire monster with the jewel on its head will chase
you around while trying to attack. Keep your distance and shoot
an arrow at the jewel on its head. This will stun the boss, so
get a little bit closer and put on your Iron Boots. As the boss
wanders away, grab onto the end of one of its chains and pull
it away. If it's done correctly, you will trip the boss,
revealing the weak point on its head. Take off the Iron Boots
and quickly run around to attack with your sword. Once the boss
gets back up, he will become engulfed in flames again and the
cycle repeats. Doing this a few times should be enough to kill
this creature.
Morpheel
Found: Lakebed Temple
Strategy: This creature may seem familiar to those who have played
Ocarina of Time, but the strategy is a bit different. The boss
sits in the center, with many tentacles floating around above
it. Its eyeball will slide in and out of different tentacles,
but if you get too close, the tentacles will push you into the
boss's mouth to cause damage. Put on the Iron Boots and get
within range of the eyeball, then Clawshot it out. Attack the
eye with your sword, then when it goes back into Morpheel,
repeat the process. Once you kill that eye, the boss will rise
out of the ground and you will see its full form as an eel. It
will then begin to swim around the area, attacking you by
sucking you into its mouth again, so be careful not to go
directly in front of this creature. To attack, swim behind its
head and Z-Target the eyeball atop its head. Clawshot to it,
then use your sword to attack several times. After you get
thrown off, swim back down and repeat. It will take 2-3 rounds
of doing this to defeat this giant eel.
Stallord
Found: Arbiter's Grounds
Strategy: This giant skeleton may seem like it's invulnerable to attacks
at first, but that is not true. There is a single track going
around the room, but there are traps running along it as well,
so jump to avoid those when you hear one coming. To attack the
boss, use the Spinner to ride along the track, then jump and
spin towards the middle area by the boss itself. There will be
plenty of soldiers rising out of the sand to block your
attacks, but you can defeat them easily. Approach the boss's
backbone and jump with B when you reach it to knock a bone off,
causing damage. The boss will also shoot fire from its mouth to
attack, so try and avoid that by staying along the outer edges
of the room. After you hit the support bones a few times, the
boss will appear to be defeated. Use the Spinner in the middle
slot and spin around to make a tower rise up. You will also see
tracks along the outer walls, as well as the tower itself. To
fight this half of the battle, ride along the tracks as you
make your way up the tower, jumping to avoid the traps.
Eventually you will catch up to the giant skull head, which
will shoot energy balls at you. Jump to the wall/tower to avoid
those. When you get close enough, jump and hit the head to send
it to the floor. Go down and attack the sword in its head with
your own sword several times. Repeat this a few times to win.
Blizzeta
Found: Snowpeak Ruins
Strategy: For the first part of this fight, you will have to deal with a
giant ice block bouncing off the walls in the room. Because of
its size, it won't move all that fast, which makes it an easy
target for your Ball and Chain. As you hit it with the Ball and
Chain, the ice block will get smaller and faster. After it
takes enough hits, the block will break and you will go on to
the second part of the battle. For this next part, you will get
to see a reflection of what's going on above you on the icy
floor. Keep moving around and about 10 small ice blocks will
try to fall on you. Try to destroy a couple with the Ball and
Chain, then move before they rise up. Shortly afterward, the
ice blocks will attempt to surround you, then the boss will
fall in the center of the formation. Try to keep your distance
so you don't get trapped, then hit the boss with the Ball and
Chain. You only need to do this part 3 times to win.
Armogohma
Found: Temple of Time
Strategy: Fighting this giant spider will seem very familiar to the first
fight in Ocarina of Time. It will crawl around on the ceiling,
periodically opening its eye to shoot a laser at you, or to
drop a ton of spider eggs which will hatch and give chase. To
fight it, wait until the boss opens its eye, then shoot an
arrow into it. The boss will fall into one of four corners. Go
to the corner where it is, and use the Dominion Rod to make the
statue in that corner come to life. Then, press B to make the
statue pummel Armogohma. Do this three time and the spider will
appear to have been defeated, but that is not so. The eyeball
will sprout legs and wander around the room, surrounded by many
baby spiders. Attack the eyeball directly with your sword, or
use arrows (bomb arrows are especially effective here). After a
couple more hits, this boss should be done for.

Items
Collection Items
Hero's Clothes: This is the regular green tunic that Link starts off with. It
has no particular abilities other than it being your primary
battle garb.
Hylian Shield: This traditional shield, made of metal, is much sturdier and
able to defend against all types of attacks. This should be
purchased as soon as possible, so that you don't lose your
other shield to a nasty fire attack.
Magic Armor: This armor will provide you with enhanced defense power, but at
the cost of your rupees. While this is equipped, your rupee
supply will slowly deplete. If you run out, the armor will
become very heavy and you will move as if you're wearing the
Iron Boots.
Master Sword: Of course, the legendary blade makes its appearance in the
game. It is your main weapon for a good portion of the game,
and is rather powerful against most regular enemies.
Ordon Shield: Your first wooden shield, which will come in handy when
defending against enemy attacks early in the game. Be careful
when facing fiery enemies or obstacles, since the shield will
burn upon contact.
Ordon Sword: The second primary weapon you will receive, this one with an
actual metal blade. It is a much more sturdy blade for Link to
wield in human form.
Wooden Shield: This is the same exact thing as the Ordon Shield, but with a
different name. It is sold in shops outside of Ordon as a
replacement, should your first shield burn.
Wooden Sword: A simple wooden sword, effective against weak enemies in the
woods surrounding Ordon Village.
Zora Armor: This special body suit will allow you to dive and swim underwater
without needing to come up for air. The drawback is that you are
more susceptible to fire and ice attacks.
Inventory Items
Ancient Sky Book: Get this book from Impaz in the Hidden Village to help gain
access to the heavens.
Ashei's Sketch: This crude drawing shows the Yeti from Snowpeak catching a
Reekfish at Zora's Domain. Show this to the Zora Prince Ralis
to find out how to catch a Reekfish.
Auru's Memo: Give this to Fyer, the guy who runs the building on Lake Hylia,
to gain access to the desert.
Ball and Chain: If you wanted to fight with a medieval weapon, this is for
you! It is an extremely powerful yet heavy weapon, which can
hit enemies from a distance. This can also destroy solid ice
blocks and knock over entire suits of armor. If you are not
using it, put it away, since it will slow you down if you
hold it while moving.
Bee Larva: These can be used as bait when fishing, or eaten on their own. If
you eat these, you recover 1/4 of a heart for each larva
consumed.
Bomb: These explosive weapons can be dropped on the ground or thrown to
destroy enemies or various obstacles in your way, such as boulders.
When you highlight the bombs on the item screen, you will have the
option to make bomb arrows by pressing A, which will add an explosive
punch to regular arrows useful for destroying unreachable targets.
Bombling: This small bug acts like a bomb, and can climb up walls to reach
otherwise inaccessible locations before exploding.
Bottle: These can be used to contain certain things, such as bait and
various liquids. You can only store items in empty bottles, however.
1: In Ordon Village, go fishing at the stream and catch a fish for the
cat. When it runs off, go to the shop and the shopkeeper Sera will
give you this as thanks.
2: When you visit Coro the second time, he will offer to sell you a
Bottle with Lantern Oil for 100 rupees. Pay the price and you will get
the oil, as well as the bottle it came in!
3: Go to the Fishing Hole and walk over to the bridge on the west side of
the lake. Use your inventory Fishing Rod and do bobber fishing in the
west pond. Let your lure sink, then with some luck you will pull up
the bottle. If you don't get it the first time, just try again.
4: After you collect 20 Poe Souls, go back to Jovani's house in Castle
Town. He will give you a bottle full of Fairy Tears as thanks.
Clawshot: This item is the newest rendition of the more familiar Hookshot.
With it, you can grapple onto certain targets in the dungeons, as
well as vines and other specific textures. In addition to grappling
onto a target, you can also hang from it indefinitely until you let
go. If you're hanging from a ceiling target, you can also
lower/raise yourself in the air, which can be useful in some areas.
Dominion Rod: This special rod will allow you to make certain statues come to
life. Set it to one of your item buttons, then point the Wii
Remote at the screen to aim at a target and B to shoot the
beam. When the target comes to life, it will move in the same
direction as you are. To stop moving an object, press A.
Fishing Rod: Use this to catch fish. Hold the Wii Remote horizontal and
press B to cast, then flick the remote back to pull the line
out. You can use various baits with the rod to catch better
fish later on.
Gale Boomerang: The boomerang makes its obligatory appearance in this game
yet again, but this time it's different. When you throw it, a
wind tornado will move along with it, picking up whatever's
in its path and bringing it all back to you. When it's
equipped, hold B and move the remote around to aim. When you
want to pick a target, press Z (you can pick up to 5 targets
to be hit in one throw), then release B when you're ready.
Hawkeye: This item acts as a pair of binoculars, in that you can see things
that are far away by zooming in/out and looking around. You can also
combine this with the Hero's Bow to create a bow with an enhanced
scope and crosshairs for hitting long distance targets without being
seen.
Hero's Bow: With this legendary bow, you will be able to shoot arrows to hit
enemies and targets from a distance. To aim, you use the remote
and point at your specified target, then press B to shoot. You
could also use Z-Targeting, which eliminates the need to manually
point at the target.
Ilia's Charm: Get this from Impaz and bring it back to Ilia to recover her
memory fully.
Invoice: Get this from Telma after delivering Renado's Letter, then give it
to the doctor on the west road of Castle Town.
Iron Boots: These clunky boots will weigh you down, making it possible to hit
certain floor switches or force down certain platforms. You can
even sink to the bottom of a pool of water with these so you can
walk around. They are also attracted to magnetism, which allows
you to stick to specific surfaces, enabling you to walk on walls
and ceilings (this is primarily found in the Goron Mines though)!
Lantern: Your trusty lamp can be used to light the way through darkened
passages. Each time you take it out, it consumes lantern oil
designated by a yellow bar next to the item's icon. If you run out
of oil, you will have to buy more (to refill the Lantern, set both
this item and the Bottle containing oil to directional buttons, then
use the Bottle).
Ooccoo/Ooccoo Jr.: In each dungeon, you will find a strange looking bird
hiding in a pot. If you use it as an item, it will allow
you to warp out of the dungeon with Ooccoo Jr., while
Ooccoo sits in the same exact room of the dungeon you
warped from. When you are ready to return, simply use the
offspring as an item and you'll return to the same room of
that dungeon.
Renado's Letter: You get this letter from Renado after beating the sixth
temple; deliver it to Telma in Castle Town.
Slingshot: Use this to shoot pellets or seeds at targets. Use the remote to
aim at a target, the Control Stick to look around, and B to shoot.
Z-Targeting also works, and will eliminate the need to manually
aim if your target is close.
Spinner: This interesting and new item allows you to travel on questionable
surfaces smoothly. You can also ride the tracks found along certain
walls to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. While moving atop this
item, you can jump by pressing B, which is useful for switching
between tracks in midair. You can also run into enemies while on
this thing to attack.
Water Bomb: These act like regular bombs, but the difference is that these
can be placed underwater to destroy submerged boulders and such.
You need to actually be standing underwater with the Iron Boots
in order to place these, though.
*****************************************************************************
Heart Pieces
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, you will need to be regular Link to acquire
these heart pieces.
Faron Woods
1. In the cave where you get the Small Key, light the two torches to the side
and a larger chest will appear on the upper ledge. Open it to find this
heart piece.
Forest Temple
2. In the room with the spider bombs and bomb-eating plants, go to the upper
level and you will see vines on a wall. Jump to and climb up the wall,
then take a spider bomb and drop it down the nearby gap atop a hill. Drop
down to the lower level and open the chest in the now-open alcove to get
this Piece of Heart (If you don't get this one during your first
playthrough, return later with the Clawshot to navigate the temple).
3. After you get the Gale Boomerang, go to the eastmost room of the temple
(where the tile monsters are). Put out all the torches with your
boomerang's wind gust, and the steps blocking access to the chest will
lower completely, allowing you to reach it (If you don't get this one
during your first playthrough, return later with the Clawshot to navigate
the temple).
Hyrule Field
4. In the middle of the field (Faron province), there is a stream and a
bridge going across it. At the south end of the bridge, you will see a
tree. Look up into its branches and you will see it at the top; use the
Gale Boomerang to bring down this heart piece.
5. In the Eldin province, as you approach the gorge from the south, you will
see a hill to the east. Go up the hill, then look across to a rock
formation. Atop it is a Piece of Heart; use your Gale Boomerang to
retrieve it.
6. In the Eldin province, as you head north from Kakariko Village you will
see a single boulder to the west. Bomb it and go up the path it was
blocking. Climb the vines and walk across to the other side, then bomb the
next boulder and climb more vines. At the top, climb to the next ledge,
then drop to the lower ledges and walk to a chest containing this piece.
7. To the southeast of the bridge leading to Kakariko Village (Eldin
province), you will find a boulder in the wall. Bomb it and enter the dark
cave there. In a room in the northwest corner of the cave, you will find 2
torches; light them and open the chest that appears to get this piece.
8. In the Eldin province, get to the north end of the Bridge of Eldin. Use
the Clawshot to grapple on the cliff to the north of the bridge, and
follow the path into a cave. In there, roll and jump off the ledge, then
put on your Iron Boots in midair to get pulled by the magnetic beam. Make
your way to the bottom of this fiery cave in such a fashion. At the very
bottom, open the chest to get this Piece of Heart.
9. Head along the path to the north of the Bridge of Eldin, in the Eldin
province. You will come to a wooden bridge with Spinner tracks along the
wall north of it. Use the Spinner to reach a hidden ledge. Become a wolf
and use your senses to find a special dig spot. Dig in the ring to enter a
hidden cave. Become a human and fight the 3 skeletons, then use Bombs to
totally defeat them. Open the chest that appears to get a Piece of Heart.
10. In the Lanayru province, take the path going to the east of Castle Town.
There is a path that you can access by bombing some boulders at the north
and south ends. Along said path are Spinner tracks that you can use. Ride
the first 3 parts of the track going upward, then jump from one track to
the next to the end. When you reach the ledge at the end, open a chest
there to find this Piece of Heart.
11. In the Lanayru province, go to the field north of Castle Town. In the
north, follow the path and you will find a boulder; destroy it to access
the cave behind it. Use the Ball and Chain to break through the ice, then
get through 3 rooms of sliding block puzzles to reach the chest with this
heart piece inside.
Ordon Ranch
12. After you get Epona in Kakariko Village, return to the ranch and talk to
Fado. He will let you herd 20 goats once again. Do it successfully and he
will give you this Piece of Heart.
Goron Mines
13. In the room where you have to walk on the ceiling to navigate a passage,
head to the northwest corner. Drop onto the ledge there and open a chest
to find this heart piece.
14. In the room with the Beamos statues and a magnetic wall to the right,
walk on the wall with your Iron Boots. The path will branch out at the
ceiling; go right to reach achest containing the Piece of Heart.
Kakariko Village
15. Next to the light spirit's fountain, you will find a boulder. Bomb it and
go through the passage to get behind the fountain. Use the Iron Boots to
sink to the bottom, then open the chest for a Piece of Heart.
16. Look above where the boulder you just bombed was, and you will see two
more boulders. Shoot a bomb arrow (point at the bombs on the item menu,
then press Z to make bomb arrows) at the boulders to reveal a Piece of
Heart. Use the Gale Boomerang to recover it.
17. After you beat the Goron Mines, make your way to the lookout tower at the
top of the village (talk to the Goron in front of the Bomb Shop to get
onto the roof, then follow the path all the way up to another Goron). Get
launched by the second Goron and climb the ladder to meet Talo. Talk to
him and agree to meet Malo for a mini-game. Shoot the three targets with
arrows and Malo will reward you with a heart piece.
18. In the Malo Mart, there is an old Goron taking donations to fix the
bridge leading from the west exit of Castle Town. Donate 1000 rupees,
then talk to the Goron sitting outside the shop. Agree to take a barrel
of hot springwater to the Goron over at the newly built bridge, and you
will be in Hyrule Field just north of the village. You have to carry the
barrel on foot, and the water will cool if you take too long, plus it
will break if enemies hit it or you drop it. The best approach is to run
along the outer edge of the field all the way to the eastern bridge. This
route will minimize exposure to enemies. When you get to the Goron, throw
the barrel of water at him, then he will leave you a Piece of Heart as
thanks.
Death Mountain
19. After you beat the Goron Mines, head up the path from Kakariko Village.
Talk to the second Goron you meet and he will launch you up. Face the
east wall and get launched onto the ledge there. Climb up and continue
all the way northward until you find an opening to the right. Drop into
the hidden room and open the chest to find the Piece of Heart.
Lake Hylia
20. Head to the east of the bridge above Lake Hylia and you will see a
building. Inside is the Flight and Fowl challenge mini-game. Pay 20
rupees and pick up a cucco, then go out to the platform. Look down to the
water and you will see a bunch of tiered square platforms below. Hop off
and fly to that platform, and land on the smallest platform at the very
top. Open the chest there to get this Piece of Heart.
21. On the west side of the lake, talk to the little bird Plumm as a wolf and
play her balloon game. Get over 10,000 points to win the heart piece.
22. After you get the Clawshot, go back to the spirit spring. Follow the left
path around the spring, then grapple to the vines to reach the back
ledge. Go into the back room and light the two torches to make a big
chest containing the Piece of Heart appear.
23. To the south of the Howling Stone is a boulder in the wall. Bomb it and
you will enter a rather complex cave (make sure you have Bombs and extra
Lantern Oil; there will also be Yellow ChuChus you can fight/bottle up
for extra oil). Make it to the very end of the cave (there are a LOT of
passages) and light the 2 torches to make a chest appear containing this
heart piece.
Lakebed Temple
24. In the central hub room, get to the second floor and use the Clawshot to
get onto the middle chandelier. Open the chest up there to get the heart
piece.
25. In the central hub room, rotate the stairs so that water flows to the
west (Clawshot the eastern switch on the second floor). Then, go into the
western rooms on the first floor. You will reach a room where the water
has risen and you will have access to a bridge. Walk onto that bridge,
then Clawshot to the upper platform. Stand on the floor switch to open
the gate, then Clawshot the targets on the back wall to get through the
gate. At the other side, open the chest for another heart piece.
Castle Town
26. On the East Road portion of town, there is a man in green robes standing
in front of a building. Talk to him and he will ask you to donate 30/50
rupees. Donate 1000 rupees and you will receive this Piece of Heart.
Upper Zora's River
27. Head to the Fishing Hole and pay to go fishing. When you're in the boat,
row out to the rock formation in the middle of the lake. Stop when you're
near it and look up to find the Piece of Heart on top of one of the
ledges. Throw your line up at it to catch it.
Gerudo Desert
28. In the enemy camp, destroy the roasting boar to receive a Piece of Heart.
Arbiter's Grounds
29. In the room with the 4 Poe torches, open the chest in the northwest
corner of the room to find this heart piece.
30. In the room with all the tracks, get to the northwest portion and open a
chest to find this Piece of Heart.
Snowpeak Ruins
31. In the second floor room with the hanging platforms you use the Ball and
Chain to move them back and forth, make your way to the south ledge in
this fashion to reach a chest containing the heart piece.
32. In the southeast room on the second floor, go to the section where there
is red carpet. You should see some oddly colored tiles at the end of the
carpet; drop a Bomb there to open a hole leading to the room below. Drop
through to the first floor and open the chest there to find this Piece of
Heart.
Snowpeak
33. After you clear the Snowpeak Ruins, warp to the top of the mountain.
Become a human and race against Yeto again. Beat him, then return and
talk to his wife Yeta to race her. Beat her and you will get the heart
piece (to win, you will need to use the shortcut; just after the trees,
stay to the right and jump onto a raised ledge, then follow the rupee
trail and your map).
Sacred Grove
34. From the main area, go east to a side area (look at your map). Bomb the
boulder in the middle of that area, then become a wolf and dig into a
hidden cave. Defeat all the enemies in that cave to make a chest
containing the Piece of Heart appear.
Temple of Time
35. As you are leading the statue down from the top, get to the fifth floor.
Use the Dominion Rod to move the statue onto a floor switch, which will
shut off an electric barrier. Walk into that now accessible area and open
the chest in the northeast area to find this Piece of Heart.
36. On the fifth floor, go to the room with all the spider enemies. On the
south side, there are steps with fences along the sides, and a metal pot
in the southeast corner. Use the Dominion Rod and lead it north along its
path, dropping it onto a floor switch. Pick up a metal pot and go up the
stairs with it, then from the middle ledge, throw it over the west fence.
Use the Dominion Rod again and lead that pot to the northern floor
switch. Doing this will make a chest on the west side appear; open it to
get a Piece of Heart.
37. In the area before the temple itself (where the Master Sword pedestal
is), go to the south room by the stairs. In the southwest corner, use the
Dominion Rod to move the statue in the wall. Go into the room behind
where the statue was to find a chest containing this heart piece.

Golden Bugs
In Castle Town, go to the eastmost house on the south road. That is Agitha's
Castle. Talk to her and she will ask for you to collect golden bugs for her
(24 total). If you find any of these bugs throughout the world (signified by
its golden glow), bring it back to her for a reward. For each bug you bring,
she will give 50 rupees. If you complete a pair, you will receive 100 rupees.
When you bring the first golden bug back to Agitha, she will give you the Big
Wallet, which holds up to 600 rupees. If you bring back all 24 bugs, she will
give you the Giant Wallet, which will hold a maximum of 1000 rupees. Please
note that Agitha may not always be at her house. She can also be found in
Hyrule Field just outside of the southern exit to Castle Town.

Mini Games
Faibi's Flight-by-Fowl
At the top of Lake Hylia, there is a building with many cuccos wandering
around. You may know this place best for being the spot where you land after
taking Fyer's fantastic flight from the lake's surface. Anyway, you pay the
attendant 20 rupees, then you can pick up any cucco you want (walk slowly to
any of them and press A). Now, you simply jump off the ledge where the guy is
and fly down to the lake.
In the air, you will see large green/blue rupees that you can fly through to
receive that respective amount. There is an area near Fyer's building with
multiple tiered platforms (it looks like a large square from above). Each
tier has a treasure chest on it, but the higher (and smaller) tiers have
greater amounts of treasure to be had. If you land on the top square that
also rotates, you can get 100 rupees. The topmost tier on the actual platform
will net you a Piece of Heart. You can even drop down to each individual tier
and open each chest if you want to be greedy.
Fyer's Fantastic Flights
On the surface of Lake Hylia, if you follow the wooden bridges, you will find
a strange looking house. The objective of this place is to launch you to some
new location at the cost of 10 rupees. Early in the game, your only option
will be a normal launch, which sends you to the area high above the lake (and
where the Flight-by-Fowl game is), however more options will open up as you
progress.
STAR Tent
On the east road of Castle Town, you will find a circus tent. Inside, you
will be able to participate in the STAR game for the low price of 10 rupees.
Before you attempt this, you MUST have the Clawshot item. Anyway, in this
mini-game, you are in a cage for 30 seconds and must collect a bunch of
glowing orbs scattered around on the ledges and in the air. You can use the
Clawshot at any point on the cage to quickly pull yourself to the ledges and
so on.
If you collect all the orbs before time is up, you will receive the Big
Quiver. When you go outside, you will also gain the novelty of having 3
adoring females follow you around the east road of town. If you return later
when you have the Double Clawshots, pay 15 rupees to play again. Complete the
game a second time, and you will get the Giant Quiver as a prize.
Yeti Snowboarding
After you complete the Snowpeak Ruins, head to the top of Snowpeak (where the
portal is). There, walk by the tree and you will find Yeto and Yeta (the Yeti
couple). He will challenge you to a snowboarding race down to the mansion at
the bottom of the hill for free. You will ride a frozen leaf which will serve
as a makeshift snowboard down the long and sometimes winding path. Hold Up on
the Control Stick to speed up, pull back to slow down, and hold A to crouch
down, releasing A to jump. You can also use your sword by moving the Wii
Remote around while moving. However, enemies will not hurt you along the way;
just try to avoid the ice blocks you may encounter.
After you cross the bridge portion, there will be a small ramp followed by a
drop which will lead you through numerous trees. If you crouched/jumped at
the top of the hill, you may be able to hop on the treetops to collect some
rupees. Just past the trees is a shortcut, too. To reach it, stick to the
right side until you see an elevated platform. Jump onto it and follow the
rupee trail as it goes up. Jump across the gaps as you come to them, then
follow the path down to complete the shortcut.
To win the race, you simply need to reach the Snowpeak Ruins mansion before
your opponent. If you beat Yeto, you can warp back and talk to Yeta to race
her for the chance to win a Piece of Heart.

Secreys/Tips and Stuff
Bomb Bag Upgrades
If you go to Upper Zora's River as regular Link, there is a boat rental place
where you can pay to ride the rapids. To get here, bomb the boulders at the
far north point of Hyrule Field and enter Zora's Domain, then swim down to
the Zora's River area. You will have to defeat a group of shadow beings, then
shoot bomb arrows to clear the boulders blocking the river nearby.
Bomb Bag #2: After you clear the path, you will get to take a free ride down
the rapids. Halfway down the river, you will meet the Zora
assistant who wants you to unblock the river flow. Use bomb
arrows to clear the remaining boulders, then follow the river to
the end. When you arrive at Lake Hylia, the Zora will give you a
second Bomb Bag as thanks. This will allow you to carry regular
Bombs in one bag, and another type you get from Barnes in the
other.
Bomb Bag #3: Once the ice is melted in Zora's Domain, thanks to the giant
molten rock, return to the top of the domain. Use the Zora Armor
and Iron Boots to sink to the bottom, and you should see a giant
rock. Use Water Bombs to blow it open, and the Goron will give
you a third bomb bag as thanks.
Giant Bomb Bag: After you receive the second Bomb Bag, come back and play the
game again. You will have to paddle down the river, shooting
at balloons with arrows (1 point for yellow, 2 for red). If
you hit anything, you will lose a point. If you earn 25
points by the end of the trip, you will win this larger bag
which doubles the amount of bombs you can carry.
Getting Magic Armor (Malo Mart/Hot Springwater Quest)
After you complete the Goron Mines, you will see that Malo has set up shop in
Kakariko Village. If you return after visiting Castle Town, there will be a
Goron standing to the left. He will be asking for donations to repair the
bridge leading west from Castle Town. Give him 1000 rupees and the bridge
will be repaired. Outside of the shop, there will be another Goron who asks
if you can bring a barrel of hot springwater to the Goron that's sitting on
the newly built bridge exhausted.
Accept the mission and you will be outside in Hyrule Field to the north of
town. You will have to walk with the barrel on your head to the bridge
leading directly east to Castle Town. There will be enemies in the field, and
you will want to minimize your interaction with them. To do this, stay along
the outer edges of the field, right by the edge of the pit. That way, you
will avoid many of the enemies. Don't take too long however, since the barrel
will cool after a while and you will have to start over.
When you get to the Goron on the bridge, throw the barrel of hot water on
him. You will receive a Piece of Heart for your efforts. Now, return to Malo
Mart in Kakariko Village, and you will find that the Goron inside the shop
will want donation so they can move the shop to Castle Town. If you did NOT
do the hot springwater mission, you will have to donate 2000 rupees. However,
if you did complete it, he will only ask for 200 rupees.
After completing the donations and getting the letter from the postman
stating the move, go to the courtyard in the middle of Castle Town. In the
southwest corner, you will find the new Malo Mart. They will be offering the
Magic Armor for 598 rupees as a special bonus, as well as a variety of bombs
and other items for good deals.
Quiver Upgrades
Big Quiver: In the Castle Town's south road, you will pass by a circus tent.
Inside is the STAR mini-game. Choose to play the game, and
complete it (you will need the Clawshot) to win the upgraded
quiver, which lets you carry up to 60 arrows.
Wallet Upgrades
Big Wallet: Bring Agitha in Castle Town one Golden Bug, and she will give you
this wallet which holds up to 600 rupees.
Giant Wallet: Bring all 24 Golden Bugs back to Agitha and she will give you
this wallet, which will hold up to 1000 rupees.
