===============================================================================
Prologue - The Icy Veil [ACT01]
===============================================================================

>>The Icy Veil<<

Ride your horse down until you reach a ruin and Death will automatically
dismount. Wallrun up the wall in front and pull yourself up. Fight off the
ice skeletons here and the game will give you a bit of information about
looting, dodging and killing. Continue up the hill and access the building
before you. Enter the door here to enter the Dark Fortress.

>>The Dark Fortress<<

You will find this first area looks like one huge corridor. Wallrun across the
first gap here. Destroy the ice skeleton blocking the side room on the left,
then head inside to find a chest containing 3x health potions. Return to the
hallway and use a wall run to make your way across the second gap to the far
ledge. Climb up.

Kill the frozen demons here and then use the poles to jump across the chasm
below – Prince of Persia style! Kill the frozen enemy here if you wish.
Continue onwards. In the next room you will be attacked by three ice skeletons.
Kill them all and then using the handholds and poles in place, climb the
nearby wall. There are five frozen enemies here and three of them will
attack, kill them and shatter the other two if you wish to do so before
heading up the wall vines. Climb across the roof to the higher platform. Drop
down here and kill the two frozen skeletons. Continue up the next wall vine,
wall run up to the hand hold above and then over to the left.

You will find yourself in a big circle. Ominous right?! Its boss time.

----------------
Boss: Ice Giant
----------------

Moves:
> Lunge Punch – he will move towards you and swing twice at you.

Strategy:
> An easy one to start with! Simply lure him into doing his two punch lunge
> attack and when he’s done, he will be immobilised for a short period of time.
> Take this opportunity to go in and swat him a few times (don’t get too greedy
> and retreat. Rinse and repeat and when he has taken enough damage a short cut
> scene will play.

Don’t forget to loot the body! After the fight has run its course, the nearby
door will open, allowing access. Head inside to find another long corridor.
When you reach the gap, wallrun across to the square block jutting out of the
wall on the left side of the room and from here wallrun again to the far side.
Continue into the next room and interact with the lever here. It’s a lift!

When the lift stops moving, climb up the nearby hand holds. Drop down to the
ledge above. Around the corner, use the parallel walls to wall run and jump
continuously until you reach the top. As before, wall run over to the square
block hanging off the wall to the left and then again to the wall vine a
little further on. Climb this, jump to the block and then wall run up to the
next wall vine. Stay to the left until the path is clear and then continue
along to the right. Wallrun to the pillar you can see here. Climb the three
pillars and then wall run across to the ledge on the right.

Kill the three enemies here and then use the wall vine to climb out and then
down and back to a set of handholds underneath your current position. Make
your way across to the right and drop down to the platform below. Follow the
path here until you reach a series of wooden beams. Jump across these to the
vine beyond, then shimmy to the right and wall run to the pole here. Climb up.

Jump up to the next pole then across to the next one, climb around the back of
this and jump across to the next pole. Jump from here onto a beam. Jump across
the gap to the other beam nearby. Wallrun up to the block here and repeat the
process to reach a ledge above. Enter the large room at the end of the short
hallway for a story sequence… And a boss fight.

-----------
Boss: War
-----------

Moves:
> Spin slash – a quick spinning attack that can be linked into a
                         short combo.
> Overhead smash – War will slam the ground in front of him, sending out
                         a shockwave in the direction he is facing.
> Jumping overhead slam– Similar to the above attack but with a significantly
                         larger range of effect and damage output.
> Blade Geyser – War will punch the ground, causing magical blades to
                         emerge from the ground around him. Stay clear!

Strategy:
> As with the previous boss, lure War into attacks that render him temporarily
> immobile – the overhead smashes are good for these. Dodge away from the
> attacks and then dart in and give him a few hits and then back off again. If
> he blocks, that is a good indication that he will follow up with a smash so
> when you see it happen dodge away and then in for the kill. After you have
> dealt enough damage to him a button prompt will display. Mash the indicated
> button to deal some heavy damage. Continue to fight him until a scene plays
> to end the fight.

===============================================================================
Act 1 - Forgelands
===============================================================================

===============================================================================
Act 1, Part 1 - Heart of the Mountain [ACT1A]
===============================================================================

After regaining control of death, you will be attacked by some new bad guys
named constructs. They are slow moving and simple to take down, just avoid
their attacks and smash them when they aren’t attacking – easy! After a short
battle and an additional scene you will be tasked with finding an artefact
called “The Fire of the Mountain”.

Here you will also be granted your first skill point. So follow the on-screen
prompts to access the menu and choose an ability from either the Harbinger or
Necromancer tree. When ready, exit the menu.

Before going too far, look to the right of where you are and behind a giant
statue you will find a chest containing some loot and gold. Continue into the
tunnel to the East and follow it to the end to enter Tri-Stone.

>>Tri-Stone<<

After the cut-scene you will find yourself next to an ancient weapon master
named Thane. Talk to him to train some new combat skills (for a fee of course)
and you can also challenge him to a duel (side-quest the Old Warrior).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>>Note: if you win, he will give you a Boatman’s Coin, some good experience
>>      and four side-quests to hunt down and kill powerful boss monsters –
>>      Find and Kill Bheithir, Find and Kill Gorewood, Find and Kill
>>      Achidna, Find and Kill the Deposed King.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When you are done with him, head over towards the giant stone face and up the
ramp to the left. Here you will find a Tome statue. Use this if you wish.
Continue to the left and talk to Alya here who will give you your next
objectives. On the opposite side of the stone face you will find a shaman who
you can talk to. Talk with her to receive a side-quest – Shaman’s Craft
which has you gather ingredients for a charm.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>>Note: If you have finished the original Darksiders and there is a save on
>>      your hard drive, once all conversation has been exhausted the shaman
>>      will give you a scythe – Chaos Fang and shoulder armour - Pauldron of
>>      the Horseman.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

When you are done, return to Thane who has now moved up to the gate to exit
the area. After a short chat, he will open the doorway for you. Exit into the
hallway beyond.

Around the first corner, you will find a set of stars leading down to a hole
full of water. On the right is a wall we can climb up with a wall run. But
first, let’s jump down into the water. Dive down to find a Boatman’s Coin
which is similar to the artefacts war could find in the original game (we can
exchange these with Vulgrim). You can use the blocks jutting out of the left
hand wall to return to the stairs. Now climb up to the right and follow the
passage until you find yourself outside.

>>Stonefather’s Vale<<

As we enter the area we will get a look at hulking, one-eyed octopus-like
crystal monstrosity that we can’t do much with for the moment. Mount up and
ride to the right of the monster until you reach a dead end to find a Book of
the Dead Page (collecting 10 of these will create a tome which, as with the
ferryman’s coins, can be sold to Vulgim). Picking this page up will trigger
three prowlers to attack. Once you have defeated them, return to the main area
and exit through the large circular gate to the East.

>>The Weeping Crag<<

Continue through the passage until you reach the ruins. You can do a little
exploring here if you like, and there is a side-quest here involving a boss
monster who may be a little tough for us at the moment. If you want to check
it out, the quest is called ‘Find and Kill Gorewood’[SDQ1c].

Once you are done (or if you heeded my warning), return to where you entered
the area and continue South. Take the first available left after the ruins to
find Vulgrim. Speak to him to use a shop where you can ditch all of the junk
that you have looted that you don’t need. He will also ask you to find Pages
of the Book of the Dead. When you are done, exit the menu and continue along
the path until you reach Baneswood.

>>Baneswood<<

As you enter the area turn to the left and look for a structure. Kill the two
constructs here, head inside and find the climbable wall. At the top you will
find a chest to loot.

Return outside. Just to the right of the entrance, after an outcropping and in
a side area you can climb a ramp here to find another Boatman’s coin. In the
centre of Baneswood you will find a set of ruins with an easy to spot treasure
chest. If you look at your map, look at the Eastern side; see the
square-shaped area? Cruise in here. Behind the big statue you will find a
Book of the Dead Page. Although there is a treasure chest on the map, we
can’t quite reach it yet, so head South and into the large circular gate.

Soon after you head through, look to the right to see a Boatman’s Coin,
continue on the road and take a right at the fork. Check out the ruins here
for a chest, and then go grab that coin! Head back down to the fork and
continue to the left and through the circular gate into the Charred Pass.

>>The charred Pass<<

As you enter, turn immediately to the left to see a tower. Cruise inside and
wall jump up to the handhold just inside the door. Wall run to the next ledge.
Climb the pole here and Jump across the gap nearby for a chest.

Jump back on your steed and ride South along the road until you see a giant
log semi-blocking the path. It is hollow, so look inside to find a Boatman’s
Coin. Continue South, as you do look to your right for a broken golden arch
way, behind this up a shallow hill you will find a chest. Grab that and
continue onwards towards your objective marker.

As you leave this area, but before you turn the corner to the right, check out
the ruins to the left. Work your way up the handholds here and across the
beams to find another chest to loot. Huzzah! Return to your horse and continue
into the narrow passageway until you reach a circular platform.

As you arrive, you will see one of the ancients taking on a bunch of golems,so
you know what to do – hop off your horse and go help him. Afterwards you will
have a chat and he will lower a drawbridge for you. If you picked up the
Shaman’s Craft side-quest in Tri-Stone you need to talk to Karn about the
Shaman to find out that you should be able to find Stalker Bones nearby. Head
across and instead of going in the door, follow the ledge around to the right
for a chest. Return to the door and head inside to enter the Cauldron.

===============================================================================
Act 1, Part 2 - The Cauldron  [ACT1B]
===============================================================================

>>The Cauldron<<

As you enter, use the lever in front and to the right to unlock the door at the
end of the room. Cruise on through. Head to the back of the room and dispatch
the golems. Open the chest here and note the spiky yellow growth opposite.
Return to the entrance and look to the right to find a glowing yellow, spiky
ball – these are your bombs. Grab one of these and toss it at the yellow
crystal growth at the back of the room for the second chest. Opening the
second chest will consequently cause a couple of extra golems to spawn, so
take them down.

Return to the bomb plant and throw a bomb at the lever across the gap in front
of you. This will open the door to your right. Inside you will find a locked
door to your left – we’ll need to find a skeleton key for this bad boy. Kill
the golems at ground level and continue through the unlocked door to the
North.

As you enter, you will be standing in front of a lava pit, move to the edge
and look down to see a Boatman’s coin and platform you can walk down to grab
it. Once you have it, look on the left side of the room and use the handholds
to traverse the gap. Drop down here and jump across the pit, continue round
the other side. On the opposite side of the room you will see another bomb
plant and a wall vine. To the right of those is an opening in the wall and
further to the right a locked door.

Look at the bomb plant and turn to the left, on the wall directly opposite you
should see a handhold. Climb up her and use the pole and the beams to reach a
set of handholds higher up that will allow you to cross the gap and grab the
vine wall. Drop down onto the bomb platform. Grab the bomb and throw it at
the lever in the opposite right-hand corner. This will unlock the door. Once
the lever has been activated, drop off the bomb ledge to the left for a
shortcut back to the door. Enter.

Upon entering the room, the doors will lock and players will be introduced to
a new type of construct. These guys are green, have a little additional armour
and can throw rocks in conjunction with hard hitting melee attacks. He will
not be alone however, as you will need to take down the green guy as well as
6-7 regular constructs. Once they are all dead, the doors will open again.
Exit through the other door form whence we entered and continue along to the
end of the hallway to find a treasure chest containing the dungeon map.
Continue along the corridor into a large open room in which we can see some
kind of fighting action taking place.

Here you will find a stalker being attacked by a group of golems. To proceed
you will need to kill everything. If you picked up the side-quest from the
shaman back in Tri-Stone, you will have gotten your first ingredient from this
fight – Stalker Bones. Head up the stairs at the back of the room and open
the chest to find a skeleton key. Backtrack to the locked door, use the key
and head on through.

Grab the ball on the right side of the room and push it into the socket on
the floor, this will flip a section of wall on the left side of the room.Climb
up to the handhold here and shimmy all the way to the right. Lean back and
jump into the room to grab another Boatman’s Coin. Climb back up to these same
handholds and this time, wall run to the right. Drop down behind the statue
for a chest. Head back to those handholds yet again (last time I promise), and
this time continue to the left and up into an opening.

Continue around to the left and pick up the chest on the right. Continue into
the dead end and wall run up the block to access the handholds above. Jump
backwards from the top and you will find another chest. Return to the previous
handholds and use them to make your way around the corner and onto a wall
vine. Climb down to the floor below. Behind you, you will see a hole in the
wall here. Head through the gap and hit the lever to unlock the nearby door,
revealing another skeleton key door within.

Cruise down the hall, dealing with the golems if you wish and head in the
right hand door. Inside, kill the golems that attack you. You will find locked
gates to your left and in front, and yellow growth to the right, look in the
alcove to the right of the doorway for a bomb plant. Pitch one of these at the
yellow growth. This will free a glowing ball. Ignore the glowing slot on the
ground for now and push it across to the other side of the room and push it
into socket on the floor in front of the gate to the right of the entrance.
Head into the gate and ignore the ball for a second, look to the right to find
a Book of the Dead page. Pull the ball out of the gate and place it on one of
the sockets on the opposite side of the room. Return to the bomb plant and
toss a bomb at the first ball to dislodge it. Push this ball into the other
socket opposite the entrance to make the treasure chest accessible. Open the
chest for a skeleton key. Return back to the previous room and open the
skeleton key door.

Once inside, hit the lever ahead and to the right to raise a circular platform
with conveniently placed handholds. This is only here temporarily though, so
quickly climb the wall to the right and continue over the gap. Drop to the
platform and shimmy around the handholds before the cauldron sinks back into
the lava again. Enter the doorway at the end of the room.

Here look on the right hand wall for blocks we can use to climb. Use these and
the handholds to make your way to the top. Here grab the bomb plant and look
down to the left to see some yellow crystal growth on the ledge here. Destroy
that, jump down and grab the chest here. Repeat the process to get back up to
the top of the room again.

Grab the bomb again, but this time you will need to toss it all the way across
the room to hit the lever. This will raise the molten bucket again creating a
bridge that allows Death to cross the room. Climb the stairs on the opposite
side and into the large room here for a boss fight.

------------
Boss: Gharn
------------

Moves:
> Slam and charge – Gharn punches the ground and then charges at high speed
                    directly at you
> Spinning fist – Will shoot out his fist in front, with spinning blades on
                    it.
> Explosion – After taking enough damage, he will sink to his knees,
                    after a short while he will explode and re-form afterwards.
> Ground Slam – He will punch the ground in front of him.

Strategy:
> After each of his attacks, Gharn will pause for a second, allowing you the
> opportunity to get in a few shots. Afterwards dodge away and repeat. After
> taking enough damage, he will slump to his knees giving you a free shot at
> him for around 10 seconds before exploding and re-forming – stay clear when
> he does this. Continue to attack him and dodging his attacks, once he has
> taken enough damage, a scene will play.

For victory, players will be awarded a weapon – Dark Avenger. The door will
now be unlocked, so head on through. Open the chest in the hallway here for
some loot/gold and continue through the doorway at the far end.

Here you will see what looks like a giant hammer to your right. Opposite this
is an open entryway, so head through here and find the chest tucked away in
the corner. Return to the hammer – it turns out its really a lever! Push it
around in circles until a scene plays. Huzzah! You’ve completed the Cauldron.

Before leaving, destroy all the crates and other destructible to the right of
the lever to find another Book of the Dead page. Exit through the door
opposite the one you came in from. Look over the railing to see a Boatman’s
coin. Jump over and grab it on the way down. At the ground level, look to the
right of the stairs to find a chest. Exit the door here and head out the left
hand door to exit the dungeon.

Talk to Karn and if you picked up the Shaman’s Craft side-quest, ask about
Mordant Dew.

Fast travel back to Tri-Stone and talk to Alya. She will give you your next
objective and Redemption, a sexy, powerful pistol.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>> Note: at this point you will earn the "Fire of the Mountain" and
>>       "Looks Familiar" achievements
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

===============================================================================
Act 1, Part 3 - Tears of the Mountain [ACT1C]
===============================================================================

>>Stonefather’s Vale<<

Head out the gate and back to Stonefather’s Vale. This time around, if you look
at the crystal monstrosity it is time to head on over to the left. At the
gate, have a quick chat with Karn. Afterwards, look to the left of the gate to
find a Boatman’s Coin. Now look up at the gate and use your pistol to shoot
the bombs up top – note it doesn’t always seem to work the first time so try
a couple of different bombs until you get one that will go off. Once the gate
is open head through into Shadow Gorge.

>>Shadow Gorge<<

Continue along the set path until you reach the giant stone gates. Inside you
will be attacked by a pair of prowlers and a swarm of stingers. See the large,
glowing thing on the left? That’s a stinger nest; you will want to make
destroying that a priority or the stingers will continue to spawn
indefinitely. After clearing the area, you should have picked up some mordant
dew for the quest Shaman’s Craft. If you look ahead, you will see the gates in
front are blocked. Look to the left to see some yellow crystal, use your
pistol to shoot the bomb growth here to take it out and then climb the wall.

Drop over the ledge to the left to find another Boatman’s Coin before entering
the building through the open door nearby. As you enter both gates will slam
closed leaving you to defend yourself against a group of stingers and
prowlers. Once enough have been slain, the gates will open once more. Go
through the gate opposite the entrance and turn immediately to the right for
another Boatman’s Coin. Drop down to ground level and turn to the right, pull
the lever in front of the gate – it will now stay open for good.

>>The Fjord<<

Now that you have the mordant dew, fast travel back to Stonefasther’s Vale and
talk to Karn about Carven Stone to continue the side-quest Shaman’s Craft.
Fast travel or make your way back to The Fjord.

As you enter, look ahead and to the right to see another Boatman’s Coin.
Ignore it for now and head up the ramp behind it to find an NPC named Blackroot
who will give you a Lure Stone and side-quest – Sticks and Stones. Now we can
deal with those pesky blue out of reach stones you may have been seeing all
over the place! Simply shoot them with your pistol. Check out the guide below
[SDQ1I]  for all the locations.

Continue through the Fjord until you reach the ruins on the lake. It’s time to
go for a swim. Swim out to the right and under the broken, submerged bridge
and here you will find a Boatman’s Coin. Over the far side of the lake, you
will find a disabled Gatekeeper, examine it to get a new side-quest “Silent
Stone” [SDQ1H]. To the left of this location you will find another structure.
Inside you will find Vulgrim, trade with him if you feel like doing so.
Afterwards enter the room behind him, ignore the yellow crystals in the back
and use the block and handholds on the left hand wall to access the floor
above. Here we will find a chest and some yellow crystals in a corner. Grab
the chest and exit.

Return to shore and ignore the raised ruin over by the sunken bridge for now
and head on past the main structure. And follow the objective marker around
to the right and through the narrow ravine until you reach The Drenchfort.

===============================================================================
Act 1, Part 4 - The Drenchfort  [ACT1D]
===============================================================================

>>The Drenchfort<<

Head across the bridge and through the hallways here, fighting off the
stingers until you reach a room with a locked door. Here you will be attacked
by a pair of prowlers. Kill them. In this room you will notice the socket on
the floor. We need a ball for that! Head into the right hand room and use the
blocks here to climb to the platform above. Grab the bomb here and hurl it
across at the ball suspended on the other side of the room. Once it has been
stuck, use your pistol to blow it down to ground level. Move the ball into the
socket to open the door.

After entering and watching the short scene, jump over the railing in front.
Below the giant statue here you will find a chest. Drop down to the ground
floor and head over to the East side of the room. Use the blocks and handholds
here to climb up and kill the demons here. Next to the destroyed staircase
here, you will find some more blocks and handholds allowing you to climb up
and around the corner. Drop off here to grab the chest, and then climb up
again and wall run over to the door shown during the intro to the room.

The next room consists of a waterway on the left hand side and a stairway on
the right. Head up the stairs and into the first side area on the right for a
chest. When you reach the door at the top of the stairs, turn right and jump
across the canal for another treasure chest.

Let’s check out the room around to the right first. Head in here and you will
have to fight off a group of stingers and prowlers. Once they are all dead an
earth crag will appear. These things kind of remind me of the crystal spiders
from the Iron Canopy in the original Darksiders. They have a fair bit of
armour and do a charge attack which you can easily side step and will also
jump into the air to try and squish you, also easily avoided. Once it is dead,
the gate at the back of the room will open allowing you to loot the chest
there.

Return to the door at the top of the stairs in the previous room and head on
through. Make your way through the long hallway killing the prowlers as you go.

You will exit into a large room with a statue in the centre, some stairs
behind it, a blue ball sitting up on a ledge on the South side of the room to
the right of a pool of water and a large portcullis to the North. First let’s
head over to the South and go for a swim, dive under and follow the tunnel to
find a treasure chest with some decent loot and gold in it. Exit the pool via
the blocks and wall run your way around three walls to reach the platform with
the blue ball. Push it down into the room below.

Return to the main room and this time mosey on over to the North side and
climb the handholds here for a Boatman’s Coin. From here we can see the next
room has another blue ball in the corner surrounded by yellow crystals. Ignore
those for now and continue along the top of the portcullis and along the ledge
here in the first room to grab the chest here containing the Dungeon Map.
Return to the portcullis and drop down into the northern room. Check the South
Eastern corner of this room to find an alcove containing a bomb plant. This
bad boy is inert, so grab one and toss it down to the yellow crystals blocking
the blue ball in the corner and shoot it with your pistol to detonate it. Grab
another bomb plant and drop down into the room, head to where the ball is and
turn around – you should see another yellow crystal at the Eastern end of the
room on a raised platform. Destroy this with the bomb plant/pistol combo.

Check out the area beneath the stone arches just to the East of the ball for a
chest. Return to the ball and roll it over to the portcullis. Go and grab
another bomb and stick it on the ball. Climb up to the raised platform in the
centre of this room. Here you will find a pressure plate that will lower the
gate. Stand on the pressure plate and when the gate is down shoot the bomb to
send the ball flying through to the Southern room. Roll it into the empty
socket here to gain access to the door at the top of the stairs.

Continue through the hallway here and destroy the stingers nest at the end.
Keep going through the door, kill the two prowlers here and then throw the
switch (you should have destroyed the crystal using the bomb in the previous
room – if not there is another bomb plant hidden in the corner). This will
release water down that canal we passed not too long ago.

Jump down into the swift moving water and keep an eye on your map; you should
see a treasure chest on the left after not too long. At this point jump to the
left, Death should wall run up to a small ledge with the chest. Continue
downstream until you can go no further and use the handholds to get out.
Exit through the door here to see that the main room has now been flooded.
However, only one side has been activated – looks like we have to head into
the Western side of the dungeon to get some water flowing from there too. From
the balcony, drop down into the water. Find the tunnel down here and swim to
the end to find another Boatman’s Coin. Surface here and climb the walls. When
you reach the highest handhold, wall run around to the left to find a small
room with a chest, return back to the handhold and then cruise back to the
right to climb the wall vine here and exit into the Western wing of the
dungeon.

Move forward until a scene plays. You will now need to fend off a group of
prowlers. Yay! Once you have killed a few of those, a stalker will show up.
Once you have offed it, you will be able to access the door. Continue into the
hallway here. You will come to a locked door on the left. We will need to find
a skeleton key to get in here. In front of this door is another lengthy
hallway that runs alongside another canal system. Go down the first set of
stairs and hop down into the empty canal, hop over the two drains here and
into the room beyond.

You will find a hole in the wall here, cruise on through and kill the group of
prowlers here. Open the chest for the skeleton key. Backtrack to where you
dropped down from the canal and climb the wall using the handholds here. Head
back to the locked door and use the skeleton key. Continue through the hallway
here fighting off the stingers and prowlers as you go.

Enter the large room at the end. After a short scene, face the entrance and
look to the right of the doorway. Remember those handholds as we’ll be using
them to solve this room in a bit. In the meantime, let’s do a bit of looting
first. Head to the North side of the room and enter the hole in the wall in
the most North Western corner for a chest. Exit and look to the left. Using a
combination of the handholds and blocks that are conveniently placed here and
a good bit of old fashioned wallrunning, we should be able to make our way
around the room to the right and onto the balcony above the entrance. Here we
will find a chest. Drop back down to the entrance to the room.

From the entrance, climb up the handholds to the right, cruise around the
balcony and grab the bomb plant here. Use this on the yellow crystal below and
shoot it to destroy the obstruction. Drop down and on the way down the ramp to
the ball, check out the room on the left for a chest. At the bottom grab the
ball and hit the trigger button to give it a good shove up the ramp and into
the room. Put the ball into the socket and the wall in front will lower down.
Climb back up and grab another bomb, return to stand on the lowered section of
wall and throw the bomb at the blue ball. Shoot it to knock the ball out of
the socket and ride the platform up to the doorway.

Enter the door way and traverse the hallway here destroying the stinger nest
and pair of prowlers at the far end. When the coast is clear, feel free to
head on through the door. Climb the stairs on the left and shoot the bomb
with the crystals to destroy them. Pull the lever nearby to activate the
waterworks. Jump into the canal and follow it down until the water stops.
Rather than going through to the main room, it’s going sideways into the room
we picked up the skeleton key in. Follow the water to the left and rather than
diving straight away, look behind the block on the platform straight ahead for
a Book of the Dead Page. Jump into the main pol, dive down and return to the
skeleton key room. Thanks to the water level, we should now be able to reach
the handholds to the right of the chest. Follow the handholds to the top and
pull the lever here to put the stream on the right course and unlock the door
to the main room. Enter through the door here for another scene.

Upon exiting the door, turn left and walk towards the back of the statue until
you see the handhold below you. Drop down to the platform below this to find a
Boatman’s Coin. Climb back up to the main floor and head through the door
opposite the statue. Jump into the water here, paddle across and climb up.
See the big circular room beyond? That can mean only one thing… Its boss
time!

Upon entering the boss chamber, grab the ball here and use the trigger to send
it hurtling into the green lump in the middle of the room, which just so
happens to be the big baddie!

---------------
Boss: Karkinos
---------------

Moves:

> Dash – This boss loves to dash, in fact he will do it constantly.
> Body drop – After taking a bit of damage or you get too close to him he
                 will jump and land causing a big shockwave.
> Summon – After damaging him, smaller spider like creatures appear to
                 defend him when he falls.
> Homing Roots – The boss will submerge and send a wave of roots after you,
                 they will follow you everywhere so dodge, dodge, dodge!

Strategy:

>This boss is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. Keep your distance from
it until it charges. Dodge out of the way and it will hit a wall, stunned. The
impact on the wall will cause an egg to fall down from the roof, get Death do
grab it and launch it into the boss. This will knock him over, exposing his
weak spot – the stomach. Kill the enemy that emerges from the egg before
focusing your efforts on the stomach. Once he has taken enough damage, he
will dig into the centre of the arena and fire off waves of homing roots at
you, continue to dodge these until he has had enough of that and returns to
the surface. When that happens, just continue the above steps until a scene
plays to signify the end of the fight.

As a reward you will be granted the ability – Reaper form (think chaos form
from the original darksiders, and a new weapon – Masher of Karkinos.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>> Note: At this point you will earn the “Grim Reaping” Achievement/Trophy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After killing him, the gate behind will open, cruise on through and pull the
lever here. Congratulations, you have completed the Drenchfort! Fast travel
back to Tri-Stone and tell Alya the good news.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>> Note: You will unlock the “Tears of the Mountain” Achievement/trophy at
         this point.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You will also recieve a new item – the Maker’s key and a new objective. Whilst
you are here, talk to Alya for a new side-quest - The Hammer’s Forge and ask
about activating the construct and the side-quest Silent Stone will be
updated.

===============================================================================
Act 1, Part 5 - To Move a Mountain  [ACT1E]
===============================================================================

>>Tri-Forge<<

Exit Tri-forge and fast travel to the Weeping Crag. Head North from here,
through Baneswood and enter the door here to The Nook.

>>The Nook<<

At the top of the stairs, look to the left for a chest, then cruise down the
passage next to the stairs into the corner, destroy all the objects here for a
Boatman’s Coin. You can also use the Maker’s key on the golem here to activate
it and use it as a vehicle of sorts. Fun! Ride the golem over and have him
park in the socket on the floor. From here use the pistol controls to have the
golem shoot the switch in the pit in front to extend a chain we can use to
tightrope across. Mount the chain and climb up to the platform above.

Open the door. You will be attacked by tainted constructs, which are
essentially regular constructs with yellow crystals! After killing around 7-8
of them, the gate across the way will open, revealing a bomb plant. Use this
to destroy the two sets of yellow crystals in the room. Grab the chest to the
left of the bomb plant then head up the wall that was hidden by the crystal
across from it. Use the beams, poles and handholds here to make your way
across to the platform on the right. Drop down to the hallway and continue
down the stairs until you exit into an open area.

As you enter, turn left and quickly head over to dispatch the stinger nest in
the corner. Afterwards, look in the North East corner for a Boatman’s Coin in
destructible stuff next to a stone arch. You will see a chest behind a gate
on the Eastern side of the area we cannot access yet (be patient, its coming
up!). Go to the South of the area and pull the lever here. This will open the
two doors that flank it. The passage to the right leads back to the previous
area and the passage to the left leads down into a massive underground lava
area. Let’s go down (although this is optional).

At the bottom of the stairs, head across the platform to the left and enter
the door here. At the back of the room you will see a ball on a ramp trapped
by some spikes and some wooden beams just asking to be jumped on. From the
second beam, wall run up to a second series of beams above and the last one in
the series is golden and when jumped on will act as a lever. Hanging off this
will remove the first set of spikes, allowing the ball to drop a little. After
that, work your way down to the beams below and the last one in this series is
also a lever, jumping on this will open the second set of spikes and the ball
will roll down onto the room.

Hit the switch on the right side of the room to bring down the platform. Grab
the ball and move it across and onto this platform whilst it is at ground
level. Then hit the switch again and jump on to the platform to ride it up.
Shoot the crystal in the corner here (Sticks and Stones side-quest). Grab the
ball and punch it across the room to the elevator on the other side. Drop
down and look just beside the entrance and you will see some blocks you can
use to climb the wall here. Climb up and hit the switch at the top to bring
the lift with the ball up. Grab it and cruise around the balcony to the right
to place it in a socket and open a chest.

Exit through the now open door, grab the chest here, throw the lever and exit
back out into the courtyard. Watch out though as chances are that stinger
nest has gone and respawned – dispatch it again if this is the case. Whilst
you are here, you may also climb up the wall to the left of the stinger nest
and collect one of the chests up here. We’ll be coming back for the one
surrounded by spikes later. Drop down to the courtyard and through the
Northern door.

Fend off the tainted constructs then jump down into the water, follow the
staircase down and enter the sunken building here. Inside you will find a
Boatman’s Coin. Return to the surface and climb the stairs to the top. Wallrun
up the handholds here to get on top of the central structure and then drop
down to the stairs on the opposite side of the room. Follow the passageway up
to an unlocked door. Cruise on through.

Continue northwards until you find the Lost Temple.

===============================================================================
Act 1, Part 6 - The Lost Temple  [ACT1F]
===============================================================================

>>The Lost Temple<<

Karn is standing out in front again, so have a chat with him for a few
insights about the temple. Look in the alcove to the left of the door for a
chest before heading inside.

As you enter the circular room, a pack of prowlers will descend the stairs on
either side of the room and attack. Kill them all. Head up the left hand
stairs and hop the railing to find a chest. Return to the stairs and climb to
the top. Enter the door here. Activate the golem on the left of the hallway,
use its punchiness to destroy the yellow crystals, and then sit it on the
socket to open the door.

Upon entering the large room, you will be attacked by a new enemy – a
construct sentinel – these things fly around and shoot lasers at you and
heal/respawn tainted constructs as well. To kill them, you will need to damage
enemies in the room and then shoot them down when the sentinel’s shields go
down when repairing the baddies. After killing it, if you have picked up the
Shaman’s Craft side-quest you will have picked up the final item – Carven
Stone. After the coast is clear, a wall section will flip around giving you
access to another area. Before heading on though, check out the room and you
will see a skeleton key door ahead and to the left. Also if you face the
entrance door, you can destroy the destructibles to the right for a Boatman’s
Coin.

Go to the North side of the room and use the newly revealed block and handhold
to climb up and over the yellow crystals here. Drop down the other side and
follow the hallway until you reach the room at the end.

This is a large room with a water hazard in the middle and an inactive
construct on the far side that we need to activate. Drop down in the water
here and swim to the far left hand corner to find a Boatman’s Coin, there is
also an underwater tunnel in the South West corner leading to a chest. Return
to the main room, climb back out and use the right hand wall to wall run over
to the far side.

Kill the tainted constructs here and activate the golem. Use its extendy arms
to destroy the yellow crystals on the opposite side of the water to reveal a
switch. Use the wall vine to the left here to go back across to the original
side and hit the switch to raise a bridge. As you make your way back across, a
bunch of constructs will spawn behind you. Rather than fight them, run over
and mount the golem and use its attacks to turn them into scrap metal. Once
they are dead, using the golem backtrack through the hallway destroying all
the crystals and constructs in your path. Between the first and second corner,
destroy the yellow crystals and enter the side room on the left for a treasure
chest

Once you are back in the main room, head straight across to the other side,
destroy the yellow crystals to reveal a socket and get your golem to rest
there. Look across the gap here and shoot the target to secure a rope bridge.
Before crossing, drop down the pit. From the bottom, look up and shoot the
blue crystal (Sticks and Stones side-quest), check out the side alcove down
here for a chest.

Climb back up and cross the gap via the rope. On the other side, look to the
left and shoot the bomb plant behind the blue ball. Grab the ball and place it
in the socket on the floor to open the gate. Destroy the constructs that
appear, grab a bomb from the newly accessible bomb plant and toss it at the
blue ball. Stand behind the lowered gate and shoot the bomb on the bll to
de-socket it. The first gate will go up again and the one behind you will go
down. Go grab that treasure chest for the skeleton key. Return to the main
area and open the locked door.

Inside use the wall vine to climb across to the other side, kill the tainted
constructs that spawn and then throw the switch to open the gate.

Return to your golem and detach the chain, ride it over and through the newly
opened gate. Destroy all the yellow crystals in the first room and examine the
room on the left for a chest containing the dungeon map. Head around to the
opposite side of the room to find a socket. Sit the golem in here and fire the
rope across the gap, cross here and look behind the target for a chest. Return
to the golem and continue to the East. As you do, pop it into the socket here
to lower the gate and continue out into the next large area on foot.

As you enter a scene will play, and you will be attacked by a group of six
construct sentinels. Fortunately they do not all attack at once, although the
enemies they summon do get increasingly difficult and at the end you will be
facing two construct champions, not a fun prospect. They act essentially as
any other heavily armoured boss/enemy you have encountered to date, just dodge
and punish! Don’t forget to take down those sentinels as soon as possible, no
one wants to kill a champion twice! Once the room is clear, enter the unlocked
door at the back of the room.

The door at the far end of the room is locked, so cruise into the door on the
left. Wallrun from wall to wall to reach the far end safely. As soon as you
land, look behind and to the right to find a Boatman’s Coin. Once you reach
the dead end, look to the left to find a waterfall. In the space here you can
wall jump back and forward all the way up to the top here. You can wall run
around the corner here to get the chest you can see on the map.

Continue into the main area and look to the left for a chest and from here
look towards the next door to see another. Look behind the tree at the
Eastern side of the area for a Boatman’s Coin. Enter the unlocked door.
Look to the right to find a deactivated golem. Activate it and take it round
the corner and onto the lift. Return to the entrance and look to the raised
platform on the left. Climb up here and make your way to the top of the room.
Here, climb the stairs, drop down the cliff to the right for a chest and then
climb back up. Activate the second golem in the room here and bring it back
down the stairs to the previous room and stick it in the socket to the right.
This will bring the lift up. Dismount this golem, and go jump on the other one
on the lift. Move this into the next room and place it in the socket next to
where you found the second golem. Go retrieve the golem in the previous room
and drive it through the now open gate, follow the pathway to the end noting
the raised gate along the way and park it in the socket here. Shoot the yellow
crystal here across the way to destroy it and then shoot the target opposite.

Grab the first golem and bring it over to the cliff to the right, park it in
the socket here to unlock the door on the other side. Jump over to the wooden
beam and then to the chain, run back across to the golem and down the hallway
behind it to see the gate halfway along is now open. Pick up the Book of the
Dead page here. Return across the chain, over to the next beam and through the
open door on the other side of the gap.

After the short scene, kill the two constructs here and use handholds, beams
and wall runs to make your way across to the next door. As you approach it,
you will be attacked by 5-6 prowlers. Kill a few of them and a pair of
stalkers will appear. Once they have been subdued, continue through the door.

Kill all the golems and stingers at ground level and head up the wall on the
left. At the top, shoot the bomb plant above the ball to send it down to the
room below. Use the beams here to get into the small room opposite the ball
statue to find another page of the Book of the Dead. Drop down and roll the
ball into the socket on the floor to unlock the door.

Cruise on through and you will have to fight a pair of construct champions and
an assortment of tainted constructs too. If you have your reaper form ready,
this might be a good time to use it! Once all the bad guys are dead the door
will open. Check out the boxes on the left side of the room, one set contains
a Boatman’s Coin when destroyed. Be sure to check all the destructible stuff
in here if you are in need of some health potions and then head through the
door.

Cruise up the stairs here and get your game face on. Its boss time!

----------------------
Boss:  Construct Hulk
----------------------

Moves:

> Ground slam – He will frequently punch the ground. Who knows why…
> Psycho smash – after taking damage he will lay into the ground directly in
                 front of him
> Summon – when this guy goes down, three golems will be summoned to
                 defend him.

Strategy:

> When the boss slams the ground, bomb plants will drop fruit around the
> outside of the arena. You will need to quickly grab one of these and toss it
> at the construct. When it explodes, the hulk will fall, revealing its weak
> spot – a floaty octopus thing that is chilling out inside. Unfortunately,
> when he goes down, he also summons a group of three constructs to defend
> himself so you will need to keep an eye out for them. After he gets back up
> again he will do his psycho slam move, smashing the ground in front of him
> as he chases you around for a few seconds – stay well clear! Make sure you
> keep an eye on the boss as when he smashes the ground with a ground pound or
> with the psycho slam; he can prematurely explode bombs in the area. So time
> your grabs and throws accordingly!

After he has taken enough damage a scene will play to inform you of your
success. Head up the stairs that are now accessible for 4 treasure chests.
When you are done looting, use the masters key on the gatekeeper here to
complete The Lost Temple.

>>Stonefather's Vale<<

After a scene you will find yourself in the Stonefather’s Vale. Head on into
Tri-Stone. Hand in the Side-Quest Shaman’s Craft and you will receive the
item – grim talisman. Head downstairs and talk to the Elder.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>> Note: At this point you will earn the “To Move a Mountain” achievement/
         trophy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

===============================================================================
Act 1, Part 7 - The Foundry  [ACT1G]
===============================================================================

>>Tri-Stone<<

Follow your objective marker, through the forge and out the other side. Head
over and speak to the gatekeeper. After a short chat, he will re-create the
destroyed bridge, giving you access to the foundry. Karn will also make
himself useful by joining you on this dungeon crawl. Cross the bridge and look
to the left of the door for a chest. Return to the entrance and go on inside.

>>The Foundry<<

Head through the first hallway and through the door at the end. Drop down into
the water on the left for a chest. Climb back up and through the next door.
You will end up on a large circular platform (does this place look like
Blackrock Depths to you too?). Continue to the far end of the platform and
interact with Karn to have him toss you across the gap here.

Climb the wall here using the blocks and the handholds, go round the corner
and drop onto the beam. From here wait for the hanging pots come past and jump
across to them. Shimmy across to the right and then jump across to the far
platform when it is safe to do so. Wall run across the gap here to the safety
of the platform. Follow the passage around the corner and deal with the
tainted constructs here. Continue on until you reach a lever. To the left of
this you can wallrun across to a nearby platform for a chest. Return and pull
the lever to unlock the door. Mosey on through.

As you enter this room, the door will lock behind you and a portcullis will
open to the left of a locked skull door in front of you. On the wall in front
and just to the right of the skull door is a golden hanging lever. Wall run up
and hang onto this in order to open the door for Karn to join you. He will
keep going through the room and hold the next door open for you, so run over
to him and under it into the next area. Climb the stairs here to get your
first look at the guardian. We also get the welcoming news that we will need
to find 3 heart stones to activate it.

Look back at where we came in from. We are going to go into that door just to
the right of it. Kill the tainted golems in here and when you reach the
intersection, continue on to the right until you enter the next large room.
Cruise over to the far Eastern side and Karn will happily toss you up on top
of the gate here. Continue around the top of the wall here and open the chest
on the far side. Drop down into the room below and into the pool in the
centre. Under water here you will see an inactive golem. Ignore this for now
and look the right hand corner from where you entered to find a Boatman’s Coin
and an area where we can surface.

Wallrun up and grab the nearby ledge so Death climbs out of the water. You
will see a blue ball here. Again, like the inactive golem ignore this for now
and head out the opening on the opposite side of the room and down into the
water here. Dive here and find the tunnel leading left. Surface in this area
and climb the wall to find a chest. Return to the water and follow the
passage to the end. Climb the wall here and step on the pressure plate to
lower the portcullis and open the gate to the main room. Karn will now hold it
for you, so drop down, grab the ball and wheel it into the main room.

Place it in front of the ramp at the southernmost part of the room and punch
it up into the slot at the top. This will raise the central platform and give
us our golem. Head in and activate that sucker! As you do a bunch of different
types of constructs will spawn and attack – go nuts with the golem and it will
make short work of them.

Afterwards head to the North East corner of the room and have the golem use
its stretchy arms to destroy the yellow crystal on the ledge above. Wall run
up and grab the chest in here. Now that we have the golem, let’s backtrack
through the tunnel we entered from, destroying crystals as you go. Check out
the alcove behind the first set of crystals on the right for a chest. Continue
through the passage here until you end up on the room with the skull door.
Continue in the golem straight across the room and down the large open
hallway. At the end, plant it in the socket and shoot the target on the
opposite side of the gap in front of you.

Climb on the chain and about half way across look to the left to see a wall
vine. Climb this bad boy and use the poles at the top to make your way over to
the platform at the north of the room. Enter the door.

Wallrun across to the handholds on the far side of the room. Look to the left,
you need to continue your wall running, however streams of molten rock are
pouring past at regular intervals. You need to time your wall run so that you
do not get hit by the falling death fluid or you will get knocked down into
the lava below and have to start again! Once you are safely across head
through the door.

Inside you will need to fight off a group of tainted constructs and once they
have been taken down, a tainted construct champion will appear, so deal with
that as well. Once all hostilities have ceased exit through the opposite door
and open the chest here for a skeleton key. Drop down to the chain below.
Continue back past the golem to the main room and open the locked door here
with the skeleton key.

Open the door and climb the spiral stairway until you reach the top. Enter the
door here. Approach the cliff and Karn will toss you to the other side. Fight
off the tainted constructs here and drop down to the ledge on the right hand
side for a chest containing the Dungeon Map (finally!). Climb back up and
enter the door here – a sight for sore eyes! It’s one of those demon chests
we saw quite a bit of in War’s quest during the first Darksiders game… And
that means a new ability. Smash the demon chest until a scene plays and you
will be rewarded with Death grip – Death’s equivalent of Link’s Hookshot.
Huzzah!

>> Note: at this point you will earn the “The Specral Touch” Achievement
         /trophy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Return to the previous room and use the death grip to swing back over to Karn.
Backtrack through the door and look past the yellow crystals to the right.
Grab the bomb plant from the ceiling with death grip and stick it on the
crystals. After the crystals are destroyed, cruise inside and open the chest.
Continue back down the stairs. Return to where you left the golem and around
half way across the chain look to your right. See the chest there? There’s a
hook just in front of it. Jump towards it and hit the death grip button to
reach the platform. Open the chest and then wallrun back to the chain.
------------------
Heartstone Piece 1
------------------
Follow Karn back to the guardian room and into the passage on the East side of
the area. In here kill of all the tainted constructs, grab the bomb nearby
using death grip and toss it at the lever across the room.  Cross the bridge
when it rises. Upon entering the next room, head to the left across the beams
and pull the lever here.  On the wall behind this is a raised beam. Wallrun up
to it and facing the centre of the room you will see a death grip hook. Swing
to this and then again to the wall vine behind it. Work your way across the
roof and grab the hook at the far end. Pull the lever here and then use the
beams and handholds provided to return to the staring platform. Continue
across the bridge into the next room.
Throw the lever in here to send the lift down and go through the pair of doors
here to enter a large room. As you enter you will see the Heartstone hanging
from the ceiling. After a short scene, allow Karn to toss you over to a nearby
platform.  Use the beams and handholds as well as wallruns combined with death
grip to make your way around to the next, central platform. When you arrive,
look back at the death grip hook and use it to find yourself on the platform
above. Grab the chest here.
Return to the central platform and continue back towards Karn. At the end you
will step on a pressure plate that will lower the gate in front of you. When
it is down, use your death grip on Karn and he will toss you over to the next
ledge on the opposite side of the room.
Use death grip to fly over to the handholds and use wall run to get around the
corner. At the first handhold here look up to see another one above. Jump up
here and then climb up the ledge to find a chest. Drop back down and continue
to the left. Once you reach the poles, drop down to the platform below and
then drop down once more.  Wallrun across the gap here and activate the golem.
Ride it into the lava, look just to the left to see a chest on solid ground so
head over there and grab it before heading to the right.
Destroy the yellow crystals blocking the way and continue forward, around the
corner to the right. Continue until you reach solid ground with a socket in
it. Plant your golem here and shoot the target up the wall with the chain. At
the top jump across to the hand holds and up to the platform above.  Head over
to the heartstone and use death grip on it for a scene.
Karn will now pick it up and you will have to escort him back to the guardian.
Enter the elevator and throw the switch, you will have to defend yourself as
the lift goes up as you will be attacked by a good number of tainted
constructs. At the top, head through the few doors here and out to the
guardian room.  Wander around until you see a scene.
------------------
Heartstone Piece 2
------------------
Afterwards, head over to where the scaffolding collapsed, use death grip to
get across to the platform and enter the pipe here. You will be in a room
divided by a trench running through the middle. Kill off the stingers that
attack and head through the other pipe to your left here and step on the
pressure plate in the room at the end. Karn will enter and open the door to
the next area for you, so cruise on through.
In the next room, let Karm throw you to the platform across the water and then
continue across the water to the far platform using death grip on the hook in
front and to the left. Kill the prowlers here. In this room here, pass the
inactive golem and pile of debris in the centre of the room and go and destroy
the objects in the North Eastern corner for a Boatman’s Coin.
Now go and activate the nearby golem.  Roll it over to the south and into the
slot in the elevator nearby. Shoot the switch across the other side of the
room. Make your way to the raised block in the centre of the area and climb on
top. Push the lever here to raise the two lifts up to the top of the room, if
you let this go the platform s will descend, so we need to act quickly. The
platform with the target on it has some handholds on the wall facing the
switch in the centre, so once you have raised it to the top wait a second or
two then wall run up and grab the handholds. Climb to the top, jump onto the
chain and about half way across turn left and jump over to the ledge here with
the wall vine behind it.
Climb the wall vine and use a combination of handholds and wall running to
reach the next wall vine to the right. Drop down to the platform below.  Pull
the lever here to raise three bridges.  Drop down into the water and hop out
back at the entrance to the room. Head straight back across the two bridges
that are now present and reclaim the golem from the lift. Bring it back to the
main room and destroy the yellow crystals blocking the other exit. Continue
through the tunnel into the next room where we will see another Heart of
Stone.
This room consists of a central structure housing the heart of Stone flanked
by two pools of water. The pool on the left has access to another room above
and the pool to the right has inactive machinery, a crushing device with a
rock or two inside nearby and a lever that we cannot activate yet. At the far
end of the room is a locked door. Use the golem to kill all the bad guys in
here and from the locked door look to the right to see a raised platform with
some yellow crystals. Destroy these with the extender arms and Karn will toss
you up there. Open the chest here for the skeleton key. Drop down into the
nearby pool of water and look for a drain to the left to find a Boatman’s
Coin, swim across to the opposite side of the room and wall run up to the wall
vine.
Climb to the top of the vine wall and use the handholds to go around to the
right, jump and use the death grip hook to access the next wall vine above.
Climb up and onto a platform to view a short scene.  On the platform to the
north here follow the ledge around to a chest. Drop down into the pool of
water below. Swim to the North Eastern area of the map to find a Boatman’s
Coin. Resurface and look for the death grip ring nearby.
Jump to the platform here and wall run up and use the death grip to access the
handholds above, follow these around the corner to the right and when you
reach the opposite side jump across the gap and use the death grip ring here.
Climb up to the ledge above. Kill the prowlers here and then throw the switch
to raise the water level in the main room. This will reactivate the machinery.
Drop down to the platform below and to the left and use the handhold here to
access the area above. Kill the prowlers here and loot the chest. Hop down
into the water and use the death grip ring on the south western wall to return
to the main room.
Drop down into the water and use the stone block opposite to climb up to close
to the central structure. Cruise on past this and check out the lever – it
will activate the crusher. Bring the golem over and stick it in the crusher,
throw the switch and after the short scene you will now have a blue ball.
Wheel that bad boy over to the skull door and use your key to enter. Drag the
ball inside and kill the Earth Crag that appears and then place the blue ball
in the socket on the floor here. This will open a gate at the back of the
room. Wall jump using both walls to climb to the top of the room. Exit to the
main area and use the death grip on the heart of stone for a scene.
Karn will pick it up, so as before you need to simply backtrack to the
guardian room killing all the enemies along the way to proceed. As you enter
the room with the bridges a short scene will play showing the water rising. It
will also show you a newly reachable handhold allowing access to the platform
to the left of the door Karn needs to go through.
Jump in the water and climb up here. Enter the pipe and follow it back into
the first room in the area that we entered following our last visit to the
guardian room. Look in the blocked circular drain to the left for a Boatman’s
Coin. Make your way over and grab it before using the blocks and handholds on
the far wall to return to the original platform. Head through the Northern
tunnel here and activate the pressure plate, allowing Karn to come through.
Return back through the pipe and then jump straight into the next pipe to the
right. This will return you to the guardian room for a scene. You will also
notice that the lava has now cooled down thanks to the water and we can access
the other side of the area.
------------------
Heartstone Piece 3
------------------
Make your way to the south of the room and ignore the golem for now. Allow
Karn to toss you over the wall. Pull the switch there to lower the gate. Head
back outside and activate the golem. Bring him in and destroy the yellow
crystals. Exit into the room at the end.
Here you will see the final heart of stone at the far end of the room. Plant
the golem in the socket in the centre of the room and use the block on the
right hand side of the area to access a platform above. At the top use the
death grip to leap across to the poles beyond and work your way around the
corner to the left until you are back on solid ground. From here use the
death grip on the heart of stone for a scene… and a boss fight!
-------------------------
Boss: Corrupted Custodian
-------------------------
Moves:
> Ground slam      – The boss like just about every other one so far will slam
                     the ground if you get too close.
> Clap of doom     – The boss will bring his hands together in front, this
                     will do a fair bit of damage to you so avoid where
                     possible.
> Hurricane        – The boss will spin around with his arms out. This causes
                     a great deal of damage and is not easy to avoid. If you
                     see it coming back off!
> Swipe/slam combo – The boss will take two swipes at you followed by an
                     overhead slam.
Strategy:
> This guy is not all that hard. He is quite slow at times so you will be able
> to dodge most of his attacks and then perform a combo on him whilst he stops
> moving for a second. As you have the death grip you can also use it to draw
> yourself to the bosses head and hack away a couple of times before dodging
> away.The biggest challenge you will face is the hurricane attack as he
> will move quite fast and do a fair bit of damage. When you see it coming you
> need to get away as fast as possible to minimise the amount of damage taken.
> Once he has taken a sufficient amount of damage a scene will play.
Return to the guardian room. Congratulations you have completed the Foundry!
===============================================================================
>>Stonefather's Vale<<
Exit the foundry and continue across the bridge to Tri-Stone. Continue through
the caves at the far end an exit into Stonefather’s Vale. Here you will watch
a scene before commencing a boss fight.
------------------
Boss: The Guardian
------------------
This guy is a massive golem out in the open plains and the encounter reminds
me a lot of some of the battles from Shadow of the Colossus. What a great game
that was… Anyway, let’s get down to business. The fight takes place in two
phases and you will have your horse for assistance. Rather than list all the
moves and what not, follow the descriptions of each of the phases below.
Phase 1:
> For this fight we are in the open plain and have our buddy Despair to help
> us out. You will notice that the boss’s giant right arm is covered in bomb
> plants. Unfortunately because the guy is so tall, they are out of pistol
> range.We need to stand at the length of his range and run directly away from
> him as he tries to drop his hammer on us.Do not try dodging to the sides as
> no matter how quick you are you will take damage.  After the hammer falls,
> move around the end of it and you will be able to shoot the plants from here.
> This will temporarily destroy his arm and bring him to his knees. Switch back
> to death grip and latch onto the Heart Stone. Whilst attached, swing at it
> with your scythe until either the guardian regains his feet(in which case you
> will need to repeat the above) or until the stone is destroyed.
Phase 2:
> After losing his arm, the guardian will shoot out a giant spiky death ball
> from his other arm that will follow you around everywhere. You will need to
> shoot at this ball until it starts to glow. As it does it will rise off the
> ground and hover in the air for a few seconds before launching itself at
> you. After getting it to the point of hovering, you will need to quickly
> run and put the guardian between you and the ball of death. If successful,
> the spike ball will then hit the guardian; bringing him to his knees again
> and giving you access to destroy the second heart stone on his other arm.
> Climb up the blocks here and use the beam at the top to death grip across to
> the crystal. Hack away until it is destroyed.
Once the second crystal has been destroyed a scene will play indicating your
success.
You will be rewarded with a new ability – Evade Counter
following the short scene and With the giant crystal octopus monster now gone
Verdant Hollow and following the pathway all the way to the north until you
reach the tree of life.
Approach it to watch a scene to end the first act.
Act 2 - The Kingdom of the Dead
===============================================================================
===============================================================================
Act 2, Part 1 - The Lord of Bones
===============================================================================
>>Tree of Death<<
After a lengthy scene and a chat with a new buddy, you will be given a new
objective – tracking down the Lord of Bones and a new side-quest – Lost Relics.
We will also be in a brand new world – The Kingdom of the Dead. The Tree of
Death here will act as a hub of sorts and as we complete the different worlds,
portals will appear here to allow you to travel back and forward between them
as indicated by the active portal for the Forge Lands nearby.
For now though we’re off to find the Lord of Bones, so follow the path south
through the Craglands to Leviathan’s Gorge. Cross the bridge here and after
crossing, continue towards the ominous looking building straight ahead. Go on
in.
>>The Breach<<
Use the death grip hook here to wall run over to the wall vines. Climb about
half way to the corner and look behind you to find a death grip hook. Jump
back and grab this, then the next one and then wall jump backwards to reach a
platform. Grab the chest here and step on the pressure plate to open the gate–
roll on through before it closes. Around the corner open the other chest. Drop
down the hole nearby and then drop down again to the platform below and step
on the pressure plate to the East. A set of five spikes blocking the way will
clear out. Quickly wall run over to the other side of the gap here before they
pop back out again. You will find a locked skull door here.
Enter the door to the left and the doors will lock behind you. Fight off 10-12
skeleton warriors and cruise through the Eastern door.  As you enter, look to
your left. Use death grip to grab a bomb here and plant it on the switch. Run
across the bridge to the platform to the East and once there, run to the left
and all the way to the dead end. From here, look back across to the switch and
shoot the bomb. This will lower the bridge we just crossed, but raise another
one behind us. Cross this and climb the stairs here to open the chest for a
skeleton Key. Picking this up will cause a large group of scarabs to form –
these bad boys are quite similar to stingers and really shouldn’t cause you
too much hassle.
Return to the previous platform and use the pole to the south to get to the
handhold to wallrun back to the entrance to the room. Cruise through the door
here and use the skeleton key on the door.  Follow the hallway and drop down,
kill the skeleton warriors here and enter the hallway beyond the door. Follow
this to the end and enter the room. Kill all the skeleton warriors and look
behind the statue to the left of the entrance for a Boatman’s Coin. Now look
at the statue on the other side of the room. See the crystal above it? Look
behind the statue for a bomb plant, grab it and toss it up at the crystals to
destroy them.
Use the nearby blocks to climb up to the ledge where the crystals were. Grab
the handhold opposite and head round the corner. Note this handhold. We have
two options here. First climb up multiple handholds to find yourself on the
roof where you will find a chest, then return back down and wall to the
handhold from before and this time drop down to the handhold below and wall
run across the room to the right. At the end, you will need to jump and use
the death grip to reach a platform above the statue here containing a chest.
Drop back down to ground level and through the exit door.
Head across the bridge here and take the first right. Upon leaving the bridge,
look for and enter the large open gate to the south. Follow the passage here
to the top of the hill and rather than turning to the right, as our quest
marker indicates, continue straight ahead to the dead end. At the very edge,
drop down to a ledge below for a chest. To exit, hit the switch and climb the
wall that rotates before it reverts back to normal. At the top of this wall
you will find a Relic of Khagoth. These can be sold to Ostegoth.
Drop down the other side and continue following the path around the corner
towards the objective marker. Once you get off your horse, continue into the
cave, killing skeletal warriors if you wish. You will find a Vulgrim location
in a small alcove to the left. Continue along the path and keep an eye out for
another alcove to the right containing a chest.  Continue to the end of the
cave and exit into Serpent’s Peak.
>>Serpent’s Peak<<
Walk forward out to the funnel until you see a scene.
When you regain control, head around the ledge to the left. Climb up the
handholds here and use wall running, death grips and wall jumps to reach the
top.  Turn to the left and look around to the area opposite where you just
came up for a chest.  Continue towards the back of the ship.
Wallrun up to the ledge here and use the wall vine on the left and climb to
the very top. Here use the death grip hook to swing across to the swinging
spiked platform in front. Wait for it to swing towards the back of the ship
and hop across to the small circular platform here.  From here jump to another
swinging platform opposite and ride this to the front. Jump to a third spiky
swinging platform here when safe to do so and then use the nearby death grip
hook to swing across to the next area.
To the right you will find a chest, return to where you landed and mosey on
around to the left. Use the death grip hook here to swing to the vine, climb
up to the handhold above and wall jump over to the pole behind. Use the
handholds to get out and around the corner. Drop down to the beam here and
use the death grip hooks to jump over to another beam. Climb up and cruise
around the handholds here until you drop to another beam. Use the death grip
rings again here. At the end, climb up the handhold and follow it around to
the left. Drop down into the hallway here.
Continue to the end of the hallway and jump into the hole here. Follow the
passage. At the end use the blocks and death grip rings to climb the wall.
From the top, jump across to the platform opposite. Drop down the hole. Go
through the open door here for a scene.
>>The Eternal Throne<<
Walk forward and talk to Draven here if you want some training. Ahead, you can
go down the stairs if you want to use a tome and to continue the game you want
to cruise up to the top of the stairs and talk to the guards in front of the
door. When you do the Chancellor will appear behind you for a chat.
He will give you your next objective.
===============================================================================
Act 2, Part 2 - The Gilded Arena
===============================================================================
>>The Eternal Throne<<
Return back through the doorway you entered from and continue along the
hallway. Follow the objective marker until you reach the Gilded Arena.
Outside the arena you can trade with Ostegoth if you desire. When you are
ready, head on inside.
>>The Gilded Arena<<
Follow the spiral staircase down until you reach a door. Inside you will see a
statue with a green lantern firing a laser beam at the skull above the door
here. Run over to the statue and use the handles to spin it around to face the
opposite door. This will unlock it.
Move through the unlocked door into the hallway and drop down into the pit in
front, do a quick 180 to find a chest here. Run to the opposite side of the
area and jump over the debris here to find another chest. Use the nearby wall
vine to climb back up to the entrance. Get Death to wallrun on the opposite
wall from the vine and use the death grip ring to make it to the far side of
the room. Enter the door here for a scene.
…Great, another dungeon where we have to find three things! Oh well, let’s get
started.  Note the debris to the left, access is blocked so let’s head right.
Just to the right of the first door here you will see a handhold you can climb
up to.  On the upper terrace, follow the platform along and enter the unlocked
door here.
Go down the spiral stairs until you come to the break. Wallrun on the left
hand wall here to safely land on a platform below. Check out the alcove here
for a chest. Drop down to the bottom of the stairs. Work your way through the
room here and enter the door at the back. As you do, the doors will lock. You
will be attacked by a large group of around 20 skeleton warriors. This is a
good point to use your reaper form if you have it ready! Once you have cleared
the room the doors will open.
Go through the door and enter the room at the far end of the hallway. As you
enter look in front and to the right. You will see a Boatman’s coin. Grab that
and continue up the stairs to the platform to the north. Step on the pressure
plate here and look to the right. You will see bomb plant. Use death grip to
grab it whilst standing on the pressure plate and throw it down at the
crystals to the south for a chest. Grab one last bomb and run down and toss it
at the crystals around the corner that the green beam is coming over the top
of. The subsequent destruction will knock down the lantern.
Use the death grip to grab the lantern from across the gap. Return to the
pressure plate and place the lantern on it. Run down through the gate that
opens and past the bomb plant. Wall run around the room until you reach safe
ground. Continue straight ahead and up the stairs to the left to find a lever.
Hit that to open the gate here. Use the death grip from the ledge here to grab
the lantern and cruise back down the stairs and into the room on the left. Use
the lantern on the statue here to have the statue use it to create a laser
beam. Rotate the statue 180 degrees to open the gate and follow the passage
until you reach a green statue you can interact with. Hit the action button to
grab the first animus stone (Assassin’s Creed anyone?).
As you exit the room you will be ambushed by a swarm of scarabs. Destroy them
all and the gate will be unsealed and you can backtrack to the main area. Drop
down where you jumped up from earlier and enter the door nearby to go down to
the arena floor. Head over to the statue head on the North side of the arena
and use death grip on the ring here for a scene.
As soon as you regain control after the scene, kill the skeletons that have
appeared and once they are gone, make your way through the door they entered
the arena from. Climb the stairs here to the main floor and follow the balcony
all the way to the right until you reach the debris. From here you can access
the level above. Just near where you climb up you will see another set of
handholds on the left hand wall nearby. Climb here and grab the chest. Drop
back down and continue. Follow the platform here past the now unlocked door
here and all the way to the end for a chest. Return to the door and head
inside.
As you enter this room, head through the door the lantern statue is laser
beaming and climb the circular staircase here. Look into the western room to
see an inert bomb plant below.  Use death grip to grab one and toss it at the
yellow crystals here. Shoot it. Enter the now open hallway and follow it to
the end for a chest. Return and grab another bomb growth and head back to the
laser beam statue. Blow up the yellow crystal here.  There is another bomb
growth behind it. Rotate the laser beam statue once to the right to open the
other door, grab one of the bombs and destroy the crystals across the gap in
the newly opened room.
Return to the bomb growth and look to the right to see a Boatman’s Coin.
Wallrun on the right hand wall here to reach the other side of the pit and
then do the same back to grab the coin. Head back across the gap so you are
opposite the bomb plant and in the room with another green lantern statue.
Rotate this once to the left and cross the bridge that forms for a Book of the
Dead Page. Return to the statue and rotate it to the left once more to open a
door.
As you enter turn immediately right to find a chest.  Continue to the small
circular rooms at the end of the hallway. Grab the lantern in here and fight
off the skeletal warriors that attack. Once the door opens again, return to
the nearest lantern statue room and enter the door to the right. Place the
lantern on the pressure plate and then return to the first lantern statue room
via the same way you came (wall running). Use death grip to grab the lantern
and return to the original lantern statue room. Drop the lantern and rotate
the statue once to the left. Pick the lantern up again and carry it through
the door and up the circular stairs. Interact with the statue at the top to
give it the lantern. This will raise the bridge and give you access to another
room at the far end of the area.
Drop down as soon as you see the first gap in the stairs and look behind you
to find a Relic of Etu-Goth. Continue down the stairs, work your way through
the room at the bottom and exit into the cave beyond. Here you will see the
second animus stone and a scene will play showing scarabs coming to attack.
They will be backed up by some skeletal archers as well. Try to focus on the
archers first before focusing on the scarabs. Once the enemies have been
eliminated, a second wave comprising of essentially the same make up will
appear, so take them down too. When the dust settles, head over and grab the
animus stone.
After you grab it, a scene will show the unlocking of another gate nearby.
Head on over and cruise through here. In the room here go through the door on
the right and as soon as you enter, look to the left for a chest.  From here
head into the side room directly opposite and climb up here. Wallrun to the
other platform and destroy the crates and things here. Amongst it all is a
Boatman’s Coin. Return to the entrance and look straight ahead, run up the
wall here and use death grip to reach the top. At the top, turn around and use
death grip to jump across the gap to the other side for another chest.
Return across the room and pull the lever to re-enter the arena. Head to the
left and use the death grip on the statue here for a scene. This will unlock
the door directly above the skull. Cruise into one of the side passages, climb
the stairs and exit onto the balcony. Work your way over to the now unlocked
door.
Enter the passage here and a skeleton champion will summon a bunch of skeletal
warriors. Fight them all off and enter the door at the end when everything is
dead. As you enter, mosey on into the door to the right, follow the corridor
around into the room at the far end. Again defeat all of the skeletal
champions and warriors in here. Once you do around 20 skeletons will emerge
from the walls and attack. Kill them all to unlock the doors.
Enter back into the main room here and look to your right to see a throne. In
front and to the left is a switch and there is a pressure plate on the floor.
Stand on the pressure plate to bring the bridge in front of you up. Grab the
bomb plant that appears with the death grip and throw it onto the switch. Now
run and dash into the throne area. When the bomb goes off, the room will spin
around and give you access to the next area.
Straight ahead you will be able to see the final animus stone. Continue
forward for a scene. Now you get to meet the scarab hulk. These guys are big,
bad and mean. They can use their shell as a shield and, can fly and do a
number of attacks that can put you on your ass extremely quickly. It is a
matter of learning its move set and using appropriately timed dodges and hits
to take him down. When he is dead, go grab that animus stone!
Retrace your steps back to the arena floor and use the death grip to place the
third animus stone. Now get ready for a bit of boss action!
-------------
Boss: Gnashor
-------------
Phase 1:
Gnashor is a sand worm similar to those seen in the original Darksiders. The
first phase of this battle is is fairly straight forwards as he will stay
underground and charge at you which will do a fair amount of damage if it
hits. He will also curl up into a ball and roll around on top of the sand at
high speed and again if this hits it can do quite a bit of damage so stick
clear! You need to essentially keep away from him until he rears his head up
and when that happens, quickly use death grip to yank his head to the ground,
stunning him briefly. Run over and hit him a few times.  Once you have slammed
him twice he should transition into phase 2 with a scene.
Phase 2:
After damaging him enough he will submerge and grow arms and legs.
Moves:
> Whip slam – the body will use the sand worm as a whip. He will swing twice
              and this will do significant damage if it hits you. In addition
              to the physical damage it can do, this move will also shoot out
              a wave of energy in front of it. Dodge often!
> Stomp     – if you get in close he will try to stomp on you, causing a shock
              wave.
> Big swing – addition to slamming the ground, he will also swing the worm
              around in wide circles if you get too close.
> Emergence – when he reverts back to sand worm form during the fight he will
              attempt to emerge beneath you, doing damage as he rushes up.
Strategy:
> In phase two it is very difficult to attack Gnashor directly. Instead what
> you should do is wait for him to do the whip slam, dodge both energy waves
> and then use your death grip to grab his head, get in close and throw 2-3
> slashes at his face. Then drop and roll away immediately as he stomps the
> ground. Continue to do this. When he has taken a certain number of hits he
> will lean over slightly and his head will turn blue for a short period of
> time. Take this opportunity to use your death grip on it and slam him into
> the ground. Run over and lay into him at this time. When he recovers he will
> retain sandworm form for a little while and attempt to emerge beneath you,
> you need to constantly be moving and dodging during this timer. Once he has
> had enough he will climb back into the body. Repeat the above steps until he
> falls.
When he has taken enough damage a scene will show to show your victory.
Killing him rewards you with the golden skull and a treasure chest filled with
loot and gold to pillage.
Fast travel back to the eternal throne and talk to the Chancellor.
Donations
===============================================================================
Although I make these guides for free in my spare time, I probably don’t
need to point out to gamers that purchasing games is an expensive hobby and
writing guides for them can be a thankless task at times, but one that I enjoy
(when I have enough free time to get the chance to do one!). As this whole
donation thing seems to be a growing trend among other contemporary guide
writers, I have decided to put in the option to alow you to donate if you so
wish.
By no means feel obligated to donate just for viewing my guide, but if you are
feeling a little generous I certainly won’t object! Any amount is appreciated
whether it be 10 cents or $10 All funds go to purchasing new games to create
new guides, and honestly, who wouldn't want those?
Heres the stuff you need!
