I don't usually play games of the same genre successively so after an RPG I decided to play this one from one of my personal favorites, Square Enix. I haven't played the first part yet and I think I will not be able to since I can't find any copies elsewhere. Anyways, as Im doing before, I'll keep the faq as spoiler free as possible. Im not creating step by step faqs since by personal experience, they tend to confuse you most of the time or lose the excitement of achieving something (finishing the game with not that much help, of course). I'll list the details as needed and since some missions on the game are pretty straightforward, you dont need as much direction or hints. This faq was initially created while playing Challenge/ normal mode. Few additions will be added to the succeeding playthroughs. In any case there's something missing, incorrect or an addition about the faq, don't hesitate to email me. I can't promise to personally reply to you since Im working on a night shift and I take 2 hour long rides fro and to my home and office. I'll update the faq as needed and I'll automatically give you credit on my next update. -------------- [ SYNOPSIS ] -------------- The story is set eighteen years after the end of the original Drakengard, in which the hero Caim saved the world from destruction and the red dragon Angelus sacrificed her life to become the final seal, preventing a world-ending calamity. The game begins with Nowe, a young man that had been raised by a blue dragon since infancy, completing his initiation into the Knights of the Seal, a military organization dedicated to protecting the keys located in five districts that hold the red dragon's seal in place. However, during his first official mission, Nowe learns that the keys are powered by the life energy of "martyrs", or citizens of the former Empire that had almost destroyed the world during the war with the Union eighteen years prior. Having doubts about his duties, Nowe later encounters a mysterious young woman named Manah, who holds a desire to help the people by freeing the districts from the rule of the knights. Although Nowe feels conflicted, he is given further reason to doubt the knights when their leader, General Gismor, betrays him by first feeding him poison, and then revealing that he also poisoned General Oror, the former leader of the Knights of the Seal, and Nowe's adoptive human father. Angered, Nowe attacks Gismor, severing the general's right arm, and then flees. With nowhere else to turn, he travels on his own with the dragon Legna as his only companion until he once again crosses paths with Manah. Intrigued by Manah's purpose, Nowe accompanies her on a quest to free each district, unaware of what consequences their actions would have on the world. ------------------------------ [ ABOUT THE GAME - CHARACTERS ] ------------------------------ NOWE ===== A young man others refer to as "the dragon child" or "the savior." He was raised by the blue/black dragon Legna from infancy, learning how to speak and understand the dragon tongue without the need of becoming a pact partner. During Nowe's childhood, General Oror, then the leader of the Knights of the Seal, discovered him huddled in Legna's wings, and convinced the dragon to allow him to raise the boy so that he could become more than a "wingless dragon." Nowe apparently has three fathers; his biological father who he seems to have never met, though artwork and creator comments hint that it is Inuart, Legna who raised him and General Oror who became his adoptive father. As an adult, Nowe becomes a full-fledged Knight of the Seal at the beginning of the game. As the central character, the plot focuses around the truth behind his past and the discovery of his destiny. Nowe is in fact a being known as a "new breed," a being created by the dragons meant to take humanity's place once the dragons regained control of the world. LEGNA ====== The dragon that acts as Nowe's "father," Legna is an ancient blue/black dragon who's unrelenting pride compares only to his might and intelligence. His "blood memory" allows him to evolve into more powerful forms when the situation grows dire, which helps him guide and protect Nowe. ERIS ====== A female knight whose fighting ability was advanced for her age, allowing her to rise quickly through the ranks from childhood. She has a long friendship with Nowe, and the game hints that she has also fallen in love with him. She vows to take Nowe back from Manah because she believes Nowe is under her spell. GENERAL GISMOR ================ The current general of the Knights of the Seal and a former member of the Empire. Gismor is shady in nature, lustful for control, and he will stop at nothing to achieve absolute power. He attempts to murder Nowe by poisoning him, and also reveals to him that he caused Oror's death. Before Gismor can finish Nowe off, Nowe reveals his "new breed" powers for the first time in a fit of anger that severes his right arm. Gismor is secretly the guardian of the District of Heavenly Time. GENERAL OROR ================ The late general of the Knights of the Seal, a former Union officer, and foster father to Nowe. He was poisoned when he drank water given to him by General Gismor, but did not succumb to its effects until he entered battle with Caim, who killed Oror in his weakened state. Oror is widely remembered as a just and noble individual, and Nowe has vowed to avenge his death, which he does. ZHANGPO ======== The guardian of the District of Soul Flame, Zhangpo is a man of childish temperament. Weak as a child, he constantly ate food with the goal of growing big and strong until he became a pact partner of Ifrit, a fire spirit. The price Zhangpo paid for the pact was his ability to eat and taste food, leaving him in a constant state of hunger. HANCH ====== The only female district guardian, Hanch was once a charming girl that the people of her village referred to as "sunsmile." During an incident when she fell into a lake and almost drowned, she made a pact with the sea monster Kelpie in order to survive. The price of her pact was her allure, causing her to become unattractive and unpleasant. YAHA ==== The guardian of the District of Precious Light, Yaha entered a pact with the gnomes, and in return was given such dazzling beauty that he could entrance anyone that looked directly into his eyes. He and Urick were once very close to each other, and are hinted to have shared a homosexual relationship, but by the time the events of Drakengard 2 unfold, Urick has put all of that behind him. URICK ====== A renegade warrior with the air of a jokster. During his days as a Knight of the Seal under General Oror, he acted as a big brother figure to Nowe. He is secretly the pact partner of a reaper, and as a result he can only die if the reaper itself is slain while inside him. He made the pact when he was severely injured in a fight with Caim. Oror saved Urick, but Urick fled and became wracked with guilt for leaving Oror to die at Caim's hands. He also believes he is a coward for making the pact with the reaper. To atone for the wrong-doing he believes he has committed, he seeks an end to his immortal life. MANAH ====== A mysterious young woman with great magical powers and vast knowledge of the dark arts. Her mysterious past is unbeknownst to Nowe, whom later befriends Manah when he leaves the Knights. Manah seeks to destroy the keys of the five districts in order to free those that suffer under their existence, unaware that she is inadvertently reenacting the events of her childhood. Following her actions resulting in the destruction of the key at the District of Soul Flame, she was branded as a criminal by the Knights of the Seal and sentenced to death, but used her magic in order to escape. As a child, Manah had gone mad and was possessed by the gods, who used her as a means to destroy the world during the events of the original Drakengard. Her past has left her with a traumatic fear of Caim. In Drakengard 2, she unknowingly re-enacts her previous crimes by convincing Nowe and Urick to help her in destroying Angelus' seals, and once again brings the world to chaos, due to the influence of the gods who still held dominion over her. SEERE ====== The current hierarch and leader of the Knights of the Seal. Although he has the appearance of a young child, Seere is actually about twenty-four years old. His time, or his ability to grow old, was the price he paid in entering a pact with a golem. Seere is Manah's twin brother, and he suffers constant guilt because his mother loved him but abused his twin sister. He also seems to possess strong magical potential similar to his sister, but has the added gift of prophecy which Manah does not possess. It was his prophetic visions that led him to Nowe whom he dubbed the "savior." CAIM ==== Frequently referred to as "the one-eyed man," he is an immensely powerful fighter and relentless opponent. Caim was the main protagonist of Drakengard, and his pact partner is the red dragon Angelus. He seeks to destroy all the keys in each district in order to free Angelus from her burden as goddess of the seal. Caim sought revenge by murdering Verdelet, the previous hierarch who was responsible for sealing Angelus, and the cause of the red dragon's descent into madness. Caim also killed Oror, the former general of the Knights of the Seal and Nowe's adoptive father, as part of his efforts to destroy the keys and break Angelus's seal. Caim asked Legna and Nowe to kill Angelus in order to save the world from her. Nowe, while knowing that Caim had killed his foster father Oror, felt sorry for Caim and Angelus, but reluctantly agreed to grant Caim's request. ANGELUS ======== The red dragon who gave her life to become the final seal in the first game. She is also Caim's pact-partner. When the five keys are broken, she is set free and, maddened by the burden the seal had placed on her, goes on a psychotic rampage to destroy humanity. In reference to what drove her mad, Hierarch Seere explains that the keys of each district were necessary to keep Angelus sealed because the process of sealing a dragon is different from that of a goddess, requiring methods "most cruel." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drakengard_2) --------------------------- [ ABOUT THE GAME - BASICS ] --------------------------- CONTROLS (default controls, customizable) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ GROUND ======= SQUARE -- Standard Attack TRIANGLE -- Upward slash (pressing this again after jumping slams the character's weapon down, causing heavy damage) CIRCLE -- Special Attack/ Magic (requires MP) X -- Jump SELECT -- Mount dragon START -- Pause/ menu screen R3 -- Pressing this will change map view (3 diffrent modes) R3 -- Moving this will move camera view L1, R1 -- Strafe/ Sidestep L1 + L2 -- Will enable character to somersault, sending enemy to the air, low damage; Moves character away, just like strafing backwards. L2 -- Tapping this will return camera to default position HOLD L2 -- Holding this down will enable characters to guard. R2 -- Opens Grand Wheel, where you can change weapons, characters and use items. HOLD L2 + SQUARE -- Time the enemy's attack with your own while guarding. This will "parry" the foe's strike, negating the strike and leaving them open for your counterattack. Can be used also when enemy is performing a combo. AERIAL ======= SQUARE -- Standard Attack (holding this down will enable Legna to track or lock on enemies and release less powerful yet homing projectiles) TRIANGLE -- Select/ Deselect Target CIRCLE -- Special Dragon Attack ( requires "spheres" that will be dropped by airborne enemies using the standard unguided fire ball attack) X -- Accelerate (hold down for faster acceleration) L1, R1 -- Strafe L1 + L2 -- Will make Legna turn around to the other direction. L2 -- Holding this down will enable Legna to hover or "brake"; Also used to target the enemy with the normal breath attack. R2 -- Opens Grand Wheel, where you can use items. SELECT -- Dismount dragon START -- Pause/ Menu screen ================================================================ ITEMS ^^^^^^^^ Can be purchased from shops. Along the way you will encounter chests and wooden crates. Chests contain key mission items, money or weapons. Crates contain green healing spheres, pink mana recovery spheres or gold coins. WEAPONS ^^^^^^^^ Acquire weapons by opening mission/ free expedition chests, purchase them from shops or just acquire them as the story progresses. Also, new weapons are unlocked by finishing the game once,twice or thrice. CHAIN ^^^^^^^ A chain is activated by applying continous successful hits. Blocked / parried attacks doesnt count. As you score higher chains/ combos, so as your bonus exp for each enemy defeated. 20 chain -- 1.2 EXP 50 chain -- 1.4 EXP 100 chain -- 1.8 EXP 200 chain -- 2.0 EXP 500+ chain -- 2.5 EXP Every 1000 chain -- 2.5 EXP + 1000G You will have at least 3 seconds before the chain breaks. You can prolong this for a second or so by pressing circle and activate your magic attack. You need to successfully hit an enemy before the chain fades and breaks. Also, for successful chains, your attack speed increases, too. ========================================================================== --------------------------- [ W A L K T H R O U G H ] --------------------------- (FIRST PLAYTHROUGH) C H A P T E R 1 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "PREMONITION" --------- VERSE 1 --------- -- you will meet Eris, explaining about the duel. Time to get accustomed to the controls. -- just follow the instructions and you will need to complete the tasks on each room. Proceed to next target. - scene - --duel against a knight. Nothing much here. This is a giveaway battle. --after battle, collect items. - mission completes - [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] Re-stock items if you used any. Exit to continue. Save your game. - scene - -- you will be pitted on a duel against Gismor. Just follow the hints given to you to win. --more soldiers will appear, so as new hints and pointers. Defeat all enemies to complete ceremony. --save your game - scene - - movie cutscene - --You will find yourself aboard Legna. Just get accustomed to the controls -- when prompted, press select to dismount the dragon. --just kill the enemies that confronts you, head to the target. --mission completes upon reaching the target. [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --------- VERSE 2 --------- Disrict of Shining Life -- kill enemies by dragon or by Nowe. -- when prompted, dismount. -- kill enemies, proceed to target. --mission completes upon reaching the target. !Eris joins your party !Obtained Eris' Spear. [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --------- VERSE 3 --------- --scene [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --equip Eris' Spear on the grand wheel, also items. -- start mission when ready -scene- --go to target. Follow your allies to the bottom of the cliff. --clear enemies as they appear. when ogres appear, make sure that you attack them from behind until they fall. --head to the target, mission completes -scene- --------- VERSE 4 --------- Grand Shrine -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] , save game C H A P T E R 2 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "GAIA" -- short sypnosis --introduction to world map, free expedition [Free Expedition] Blessed Plains : AIR !District of Shining Life: GROUND (Clear "Blessed Plains : AIR" first) !chest contains Robberking (spear) !chest contains Edacious (rod); requires RUSTY KEY, also in the same map. --when ready, proceed to the red flag in the map. --------- VERSE 1 --------- Endless Grounds: AIR -scene- --this is primarily an air battle, just clear the skies from enemies. --mission completes upon reaching the target. --save and proceed [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --------- VERSE 2 --------- Endless Grounds: LAND -scene- -- kill all the enemies as needed, take out the targets as they appear --item will appear after getting the objective regarding undead knights --use Eris against the undead knights to make the battle quick. -- mission completes --------- VERSE 3 --------- -scene- -movie scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] ; prepare as needed, continue when ready. -scene- --go inside, proceed to the first room --defeat undead knight. Hit the crystal to open door, get healing sphere in the crate. --head out, follow path to reach platoon leader (indicated yellow on the radar). talk to him to get the MAP of the area. --you can change the view of the MAP now, proceed to the next target. --on the second room, jump off to the ledge on the left first before jumping again to reach the crystal. backtrack, get healing sphere from the crate. defeat enemies along the way. --on the 3rd room, go down. Beside the lava bursts with the crystal is a crate containing 300 gold. Just watch the pattern of the lava blasts. After you manage to hit crystal, head to the next target. --destroy the barrels as needed. hit the crystal that'll appear. -- door opens, undead knight appears. defeat it to get a kEY from chest. --go to the target indicated on the map. mission completes. --------- VERSE 4 --------- District of Soul Flame Flame Dais -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --eliminate the waves of enemies pouring in. After getting rid of the undead knights, mission completes. --------- VERSE 5 --------- -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] -scene- -- clear area, go to the 1st target --kill all enemies in the room. door will open. --head out, follow path to reach next target. --after defeating the undead knights, chest will appear. Obtain LONGSWORD --go out, head to the next target. --kill enemies. head out --reach target before time runs out. --kill the enemies. mission completes --------- VERSE 6 --------- Fire Cavern Fortress -scene- -movie cutscene- --just take down the enemies. --scene- --------- VERSE 7 --------- -scene- --follow path, hit crystal to continue --find the other crystal inside the cavern, the other one is on the cliff overhead. Use Legna to reach it. The last crystal is obviously on the path itself. --kill all enemies. perform a ground slam (jump then hit triangle) on the ground where the red steam is emanating. --proceed to the next area. Assist allies as instructed. --after killing all the enemies, you will obtain MAP --go to next area. When hinted to use Legna, do so. Go over the tall trees on the right. --change the view on your map, continue north to reach the next target. --you will recieve hints as you defeat the enemies. upon reaching the dead end, hit the LEFT wall, then RIGHT, then hit the GROUND. Door should --open. BOSS BATTLE: BEHEMOTH --timing is everything here. This guy is fast and his attacks are damaging. Lure him to a wall. Quickly sidestep out of the way when you see him charging. Once he turns blue violet, he will be vulnerable to your attacks. Just repeat until the monster falls. --go to the next area --defeat enemies along the way --head past the 1st light, go straight --on the next screen, take the stairs on the right. Take the right portal to get and item. Backtrack and this time, go to the left portal to reach target. Follow path. Mission completes. C H A P T E R 3 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "DISILLUSIONMENT" --sypnosis- --new free expedition available Endless Grounds: AIR District of Soul Flame: GROUND (clear air first) ! has weapon UNION (longsword) Village of Stone (-scene-) --You can visist the shop for new items and weapons. Upgrade or restock. --once ready, go to the world map and go to the red flag. --------- VERSE 1 --------- -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --You life decreases gradually, so unless you have a powerful weapon, it is advisable to run away from them. Healing Sphere crates are scattered along the way so u can use . --in the end of the hallway, 2 heavy knights will appear. Defeat them to get KEY. MIssion completes. YOU cannot replesenish your items starting now. You need to buy them from the villages. --------- VERSE 2 --------- -scene- --air battle; just kill all the enemies to complete mission -scene- --------- VERSE 3 --------- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --kill all monsters -scene- --use map to clear all monsters in the area. Use Legna to get from one location to another quickly. It will be also good to enlarge your map. --mission completes after getting item. -scene- ! Legna will evolve into Form 2. -Can now lock-on six targets -Breath attack increased -Fierce Fangs DOD learned. C H A P T E R 4 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "ESCAPE" --------- VERSE 1 --------- Mourning Stream: AIR [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] -scene- --air battle; just kill all the enemies to complete mission --------- VERSE 2 --------- --follow the path. You need to hit 3 crystals to get rid of the rock wall --clear the ground of monsters first on both areas --on the 2nd area, there is a time limit. Just learn to manuever Legna in tight places and you should do fine. --reach the target to complete mission. --------- VERSE 3 --------- -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --kill all enemies. Chest will appear. After that, more reinforcements will arrive. You need to kill them all. -scene- --walk between the rods to avoid being hit by the lightning strikes. --upon reaching the end of the path, mission completes. -moviecutscene- !Manah joins your party. !Obtains Manah's Staff --------- VERSE 4 --------- -scene- --you can turn around and kill the remaining ground enemies. Otherwise, just follow the path. Upon reaching a split, go to the right first, destroy the airship and dismount on the cliff. Grab the gold. --mount again, head out to the original path and make your way north. --upon reaching the open area, you need to dismount to fight on foot. --manah is recommended against the magicians since she has good magical defense and is effective against them. --kill all enemies to complete mission --------- VERSE 5 --------- Manah's Hideout -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] -- air battle, defeat all enemies to complete mossion. --------- VERSE 6 --------- Village of Sand -scene- -- restock items as needed/ or get new weapons. just defeat all enemies to end the mission. --------- VERSE 7 --------- -scene- --just follow the path to reach targets. Hit crystal. Once you see the blue gauge on the left of your screen, just glide towards to the entrance --on the dam, dismount on the wide circular areas on either ends of it. --kill the magicians. After that, new targets will appear but you can go down first and defeat all enemies below. --Again, fly to the targets and dismount as soon as you get the chance. You can use Manah to kill the magicians first, then switch to Nowe to deal with the knights. --mission completes. --------- VERSE 8 --------- -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] BOSS BATTLE: KELPIE --this is one tough and long battle. Just attack using homing and normal breath fire attacks. If kelpie submerges to the water, fly low near the ground to avoid Kelpies damaging special attack. --another nuisance would be magicians. They seal Legna's fire so you need to take care of them first. Along side with them are heavy knights. Just use the same pattern. Kelpie is hot that fast. After attacking, she stays open for 4-5 seconds. Take advantage of that. --you need to take care 3 waves of magicians. After that there should be no further problems. Be careful when Kelpie is near death. It will always attempt to ram you head-on,causing great dmg. Kelpie should go down after that. --------- VERSE 9 --------- -world map- --new free expedition available- Mourning Stream: AIR District of Hallowed Water: GROUND (clear air first) ! has weapon, Hanch's Spear (spear) Village of Stone (-scene-) -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] Fire Cavern Fortress --use map to get to the items. This should be a straight forward mission --find the key for the chest. If should be guard by a group og mages. --after finding the weapons, it should automatically initiate a cutscene. --after the talk you will keep the weapons you acquired. !obtains Sealknife & Sealstaff C H A P T E R 5 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "AN ALLY" -world map- -synopsis- -new items available in the shop- --proceed to the red flag when ready. --------- VERSE 1 --------- Shadow Valley -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --AIR BATTLE; kill all enemies to complete mission --------- VERSE 2 --------- -scene- --take the alleys to gather info. Start by going to the western alleys. --save the civilian. These thieves or bounty hunters are fast. Lure them to the barrels and use it to kill them quickly. Best tactic is to guard first, after they finish thier combo, launch them to the air, attack them then slam them to the ground. (triangle+square+triangle) --targets will be indicated on the map, follow them. --after defeating 3 thieves in the northern alleys, an item will appear (LONGSOWRD) -scene with the Masked Man- -another scene, junction screen- !Urick joins your party !Obtains, Urick's Axe. --------- VERSE 3 --------- --A fairly straightforward mission. Just fight your way through the enemies to reach the target(s). --Once the ogre/ minotaurs appears, switch to Urick to kill them quickly since he is very effective against monsters. --kill everything in sight, grab the key and head towards the gate --mission completes -scene- -movie cutscene- --------- VERSE 4 --------- AIR BATTLE --As usual, defeat all enemies to proceed. -scene- --------- VERSE 5 --------- -scene- -- slice your way to the top. This is one great place to acquire lots of chains hence, lots of EXP. --Once target magicians appear, exterminate them. You may want to switch characters for better effeciency in the battle. --After defeating the magicians, another wave appears, now with more heavy knights, archers and Minotaurs. You can just use Urick to deal with both human and minotaur enemies. --head to the gate once mission objective has been achieved. --mission completes-- --------- VERSE 6 --------- --Once inside, go right. You can take any of the staircases since the contain the crystals to open the middle door. --you may need to defeat the enemies guarding the crystals though. --just take note: ! In the room with strong winds, use Urick to hit the crystal. ! In the room with constant lightning bolts, use Manah. --after hitting the crystals, middle door will open. Continue. --on the next room, head straight go into the second room. Clear the enemies. Target will appear. Talk to the soldiers to get MAP. --just use the map to find the hidden door in the middle of the hallway. Hit it to open it. --Continue down. The you need to open the dungeon doors here according to their numbers. Start with I, then II, so on. You will be able to get another weapon in one of these cells. --hit the crystal to open door ahead. exit to complete mission. [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --------- VERSE 7 --------- District of Precious Light -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] BOSS BATTLE: GNOMES --You will pitted against Yaha's pact-beasts, the gnomes. This fight can be tough if you dont know what to do. To kill the small gnomes, switch to Manah and just attack like crazy. If they bury themselves underground, try to avoid the magical seals as you hit them. They will come out after getting hit. --If you have Manah's Dream Blossom staff, the battle will be quicker. Tornado's Eye works wonders against the small critters. --on halfway health, the gnomes will transform into a bigger one. It has three basic attacks. !It will smash the ground creating shockwaves, (just jump to avoid this.) !It will swing his arm. (Unblockable, only activates if you're near him.) !It will grab something on the ground ready to be thrown at you (Just make sure you sidestep out of the way. --Urick is effective against this guy. During normal intervals, you can run into him, jump then slash down. Just remember to run away from him after every attack. --when you see it grabbing a boulder from the ground, just simply use your special attack. This will cause him to stagger, and drop the the boulder to his head, causing greater damage. --time to time, this boss will burrow himself to the ground and run all over the place, leaving random seals. Just avoid the seals and keep hitting him. --Repeat patterns above until he is defeated. -scene- --------- VERSE 8 --------- City of Rust -scene- --help the townspeople by defeating the bounty hunter. --Just defeat all bounty hunters you can find in the back alleys --after that, just go to the target. --after talking to the informant, go to the plaza. --defeat all enemies as they appear to complete mission. C H A P T E R 6 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "DARK CLOUDS" -world map- -synopsis- --do what you want, just head to the red flag when ready --------- VERSE 1 --------- -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --AIR BATTLE; as always, kill all enemies to complete mission --------- VERSE 2 --------- !NOTE: This is one long mission. Make sure you are prepared. --start the stage by heading back, take the tunnel and follow the path to get to the chest indicated on the map. Just hit the rocks blocking the way to get a longsword from the chest --backtrack, just follow the path to the target. -scene- --nothing much here. You just need to defeat several waves of enemies. This is one place to gain several levels. --the final wave would be airships and magicians on the ground. You will need Legna to take down the airships. Yet, to make it easier, take out the magicians on the ground first. After clearing the ground, you can use Legna to complete the mission. --------- VERSE 3 --------- --AIR BATTLE. Just defeat all enemeies before heading to the target --Just take down the airship to complete mission. C H A P T E R 7 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "LAMENTATION" -world map- -synopsis- -new items available in the shop- -free expedition: Shadowed Valley: AIR District ot Precious Light: GROUND (Clear AIR first) ! Chest contains NOBUYOSHI (longsword) ! Chest contains Executioner's Song (axe) -go to the red flag when ready --------- VERSE 1 --------- Blessed Plains --AIR BATTLE; You just need to take out the batteries below to complete mission. --Kill all enemies in the air first before taking out the batteries below, for exp. --------- VERSE 2 --------- -scene- [ JUNCTION SCREEN ] --you need to take down 3 targets. You can kill enemies as much as you want to, if you need experience. --After getting rid of the 3rd target, you need to move to the other side of the cave, as indicated on the map. --bring down the airships using Legna. --this would be a decoy, just run back to the entrance and mission will automatically complete. --------- VERSE 3 --------- --AIR BATTLE; !MAKE SURE THAT YOU DON'T DAMAGE THE SHIP! --take care of the enemies. Defeat 3 waves of them. --take out the batteries below to complete mission. --------- VERSE 4 --------- --this is another straightforward mission. The path is already given, so no specific directions needed for this one. --Clear the 1st room as prompted. Get the item for a sword (Oror's Lionblade). Continue forth to the next target. --contine forward. Obtain key to the 3rd floor by defeating the Heavy Knights on the small room --Reach the target to complete mission. --------- VERSE 5 --------- --BOSS BATTLE; ! EQUIP OROR'S LIONBLADE (+DMG VS GISMOR), recommended BOSS BATTLE: GISMOR --This battle is not that tough. You will definitely use items though. --Gismor has several attacks, most of them unblockable. Just use special attacks when does his own. This will stagger him, giving you ample time to hit him. --Just take note of his attacks, evade if you can then hit him. --He will fall. Mission completes. --------- VERSE 6 --------- --TIME LIMIT; you will need approximately 10-15 minutes to find Manah and complete the mission. --Just avoid unneccesarry battles. Or you may want to kill all enemies along the way, intentionallu failing the mission and restarting it again with experience gained retained. --fight your way to the dungeons. The path is straightforward, you wouldnt miss it. --on the room that has an item on it (Axe: Mourning Thorn), you need to kill the magicians and the heavy knights guarding it. The door should open after/ during that. --defeat the heavy knights on the next area to obtain DUNGEON KEY --on the dungeons, you need to open the correct door. I dont know if it is randomized but I got Manah on the first door to the right. If not, just defeat the enemies on the opened room to obtain the Key again. --once correct door is chosen, mission completes. -scene- --------- VERSE 7 --------- --AIR BATTLE; --take care of the initial wave of enemies. --when ghosts appear, take down the faster flying skulls first. --when battling the skeletons, take them down one at a time. They can deflect your attacks and when you get close, they can slash Legna, causing great damage. KEEP YOUR DISTANCE --you need to break thier guard. To do that, hold L2 when facing one of them, then lock-on and release ALL your homing missiles. As it deflects your attack, its scythe will start to glow. Just keep on doing that until it breaks. It will be open for a few seconds, just blast away everything you got. Repeat to bring them all down. --reach target to complete mission. --------- VERSE 8 --------- --You need to find 3 sacrificial rooms in this area. Just kill the enemies that confront you. --you can enter the rooms in any order, and has the following effects/ requirements: 1. Kill all enemies in the room. 2. Give some amount of HP (Cannot be done with Urick) 3. Kill the ghosts. (Manah : recommended) --passageway will be open. Proceed to the target to complete mission. --------- VERSE 9 --------- --BOSS BATTLE; !EQUIP INUART'S LONG SWORD (+DMG VS CAIM), recommended BOSS BATTLE: CAIM. --be careful. This guy is powerful and can kill you in a few seconds if he gets you cornered. These are his attacks: 1. He will jump away while firing several rays. Blockable. 2. He run towards you, jump and smash the ground. You need to run away from the impact zone to avoid damage. 3. He fires a huge energy blast. Unblockable, massive damage. Jump or evade to prevent damage. 4. He sends out a damaging ring outward. Jump to evade. 5. 5 hit rush combo. You can block the first 4 attacks but the fifth strike isnt. --when you start out, go to the wide area to have much needed breathing room. Caim is aggressive but slow. --the chances when you can hit him the most is when he is performing his jump attack. Just run around him then score a hit or two. --you can also use your special attack when he performs his combo to stagger him and hit him. --just repeat the process, heal if needed. --movie scene- C H A P T E R 8 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "RULE BY FORCE" -world map- -synopsis- -go to the red flag when ready --------- VERSE 1 --------- --AIR BATTLE; Destroy the barriers to recieve update. Clear the skies if you want to. --Reach the target to complete mission. -movie cutscene- --------- VERSE 2 --------- --This mission is straightforward. This is a great place to level up, and max weapon levels as well. --reach the target. Defeat the knights indicated to obtain MAP. --follow the path ahead. You can use the explosive barrels to make your job easier. --upon reaching the entrance to the next area, you need to defeat a group of magicians and heavy knights. You will get the KEY needed to proceed further. --on the next area, the real targets are the heavy knights guarding the entrance to Heaven's Clocktower. Defeat them if you want to end the mission quickly or spend time clearing the map of red dots. -scene- -more scenes- --------- VERSE 3 --------- -- Just kill the enemies until Legna arrives. --destroy the cannons. --defeat the indicated targets. --after defeating all targets, fly to the top of the tower to complete mission. --------- VERSE 4 --------- --defeat the first wave of enemies --take the room to the left to get the key --defeat more enemies then take the center path --after the short conversation with a knight, open chest to get (sword) --backtrack, then take the northern door on your map. --just follow the path until you reach a time distorted room. You need to clear the room before proceeding. --follow the path. on the similar map screen, head down then left until you reach another room. Kill the gatekeeper (heavy knight) to get key --backtrack to the locked door you encountered on your way. open it --light magicians will be blocking your way. Get rid of the nuisances. --follow the curve until you reach another one. take the rooms to the right. The crates contain HP and MP spheres. --Upon entering the room, Seere's magicians appear. Defeat them for the key. Go back to the locked door and continue --kill the enemies and targets while taking the spiral staircase. --after killing the last group of targets, chest will appear. Get the key and open the door. --two rooms will be indicated as targets. On the left side is a time distorted room with Seere's mages. On the right contains heavy knights --after clearing both rooms, go to the indicated target, mission completes --------- VERSE 5 --------- --BOSS BATTLE; !EQUIP OROR's FALCONBLADE (+DMG VS GISMOR), recommended BOSS BATTLE: GISMOR / SHADOW --this guy could be tough, if you dont know his attack types and patterns --also, use only normal combos since he can block magical attacks automatically. Attacks: 1. Gismor sends out vertical and horizontal wave slashes towards you. Since it is unblockable, you need to jump or evade it completely. Take note of the floor, since it will display blue patterns in split seconds, indicating the direction of his attacks. Use this to anticipate his next move. As you chip his life away, the speed of these waves increase. And he sends them out consecutively. 2. He will turn blue, and jump across each corners of the battlefield. He will send out an energy ring outward, similar to Caim's and some homing projectiles along with it. The projectiles themselves are blockable. The wave itself isn't. Use the huge pillars to at least block all or most of his projectiles while you jump from the ring itself. You can't attack him while he's doing this so just need to wait for him to return to his normal attack position. 3. When near death, he will not use his wave slashes anymore but will continue shooting his homing projectiles like crazy. They are blockable but annoyingly powerful in terms of force since it can push you adistance, keeping you from attacking him. Fortunately, the damage is not that too alarming when you get hit. Again, to get near him, you need to run sideways. Strafing won't work since as soon as you recover your footing, the other projectiles are already in your face. You need to run towards him following a sideways pattern. Just dont forget to use the pillars to get into position. --After the battle, there would be a couple of scenes and movie cutscenes --------- VERSE 6 --------- --AIR BATTLE; kill the enemies as indicated --red dragon appears, just score a couple of hits from her and mission automatically completes. ! Legna will evolve into Form 3. -Can now lock-on eight targets -Breath attack increased -New DOD learned. C H A P T E R 9 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "RESURRECTION" -world map- -synopsis- -Village of Tower added (new items available)- -free expedition: Hills of Dusk: AIR District ot Heavenly Time: GROUND (Clear AIR first) ! Chest contains SORROWBORN(spear) -go to the red flag when ready --------- VERSE 1 --------- --AIR BATTLE; TIME LIMIT; You need to chase the red dragon. Follow her while firing at her. --To make the battle easier, just go through the center of the circular thingy she leaves behind. This will cancel the attack. If not, powerful homing fireballs will chase you, wasting time and HP. --after scoring a number of hits to her, time gauge will disappear. --continue following her. -scene- --reach target to complete mission. --------- VERSE 2 --------- --from your position, go either left or right to talk to the prisoners in the dungeon. You should talk to the two of them. --continue on, enter the way on the other side. Just examine the rooms for extra gold. --upon reaching the brick wall, a living armor appears. Defeat it to continue. Take the path and head downstairs. --just keep moving. When you reach the room with the key, a short scene occurs. You need to chase a living armor for the key. --just follow it. There is no way you can catch it. There is no time limit here, but just in case you lost sight of it, just examine the rooms and pathways you last saw it. --the chase will end when the armor leads you to a downstairs room. --you then need to defeat all the enemies to get the key. backtrack to the room with a locked door. mission completes. --------- VERSE 3 --------- --AIR BATTLE; Destroy the red dragon (LVL 30+ Legna, recommended) --just use all your dragon-piloting skills to win this one. --one effective tactic is by closing in Angelus then hover around her, targeting her with several homing fireballs. This will keep her busy, preventing her to attack you, while you chip away her life. --mission completes upon defeating the target. C H A P T E R 10 __________________________ _________________________________________________________________ "DESTRUCTION" -world map- -synopsis- -Remove Village added (new items available)- -free expedition: Sanctuary: AIR Castle of the Goddess: GROUND (Clear AIR first) ! (It doesnt really matter where you go, it will still follow the same direction later on.) --follow the indicated targets, take out the sentry guns along the way. --upon reaching a room with a ball with rotating rings around it, fire some projectiles to stop all the rings completely. Door will open. --Clear the path from guns and walls, reach the target to complete mission. --------- VERSE 3 --------- --AIR BATTLE, TIME LIMIT; Kill all enemies before time runs out to complete mission. --------- VERSE 4 --------- --Locate the young Manah five times. After that, you'll be pitted into a bossfight. BOSS BATTLE: MANAH --Don't just slash the enemies away. They can be frustratingly annoying unless you concentrate on the real target. The real Manah is the one that has the highest HP and hardest to hit. Usually, the real one moves away from the battle. Make sure you don't let that happen or just immediately use your special attack to get you out of the situation. All areas unlocked during the first game are now available. Based on my experience, its recommended to be at least LVL 75+ before trying this mode since you will have a better chance of survival if you start this mode on higher levels. The amount of experience doesnt change, so it would be wiser to power level during the normal or hard modes. All areas unlocked during the last game are now available. Also, current game state will be carried over. Boss attacks: (all are avoidable and predictable) -Normal 6 homing fireballs -summons gargoyle cubes that shoot lightning shards and spins out to collide you. -sends out multiple homing laser beams -can utilize several breath spheres to unleash a very powerful attack corresponding to the color of the breath spheres he charges -this battle can be tough since you need to rush in and out between his charge attacks.
