Dig-Dug IV - Secrets and Easter Eggs V - Conclusion I. Intro ========== This is StarKnightX again with a guide for an oldie that is actually a collection of oldies. Information on Namco Museum Vol.3 ----------------------------------- This (in case you couldn't tell) is the third vol. in a series of classic collections by namco. This one as with the other 4 is a mixed bag. While it does have 3 must have oldies (dig dug , galaxian , and ms.pac-man) the other ones are only so-so. Pole Position 2 is too outdated to be much fun anymore. Phozon is pure novelty , and not very good novelty at that , and the tower of druaga is like a poor man's gauntlet that is kinda dull. Ultimately , as with the other museums , is a decent buy just for the memorabilia , but if you're just looking for the games themselves , their are better versions. Version History ------------------ ver. 1.25 March 19, 2003 Finished adding Game info. ver. 1 March 16, 2003 First Release ; Added all Museum info II. The Museum ================= 1.The Information Desk ------------------------ This is the starting point of the museum. Here you can register a user name to keep high score records , and learn about all the different areas. Just remember "No smoking in the museum , but feel free to take pictures and please do not touch the items with your hands". 2.The Game Rooms ----------------- These are the areas of the museum dedicated to each of the individual games found on the disk. They contain original arcade marquees motherboards , etc. They are also designed with a theme based on the game it represents. I will go through these rooms in order from left to right of the museum. Info on the games themselves will be in the "GAMES" section. This area is just for info on the game rooms in the museum section. NOTE : You do not have to go the museum/these rooms to play the games. You can play them straight from the main menu or the pause menu in the museum. a.Pole Position 2 Room 1 - On the left is a sales pamphlet , PC Board , and Instruction Card. - To the Left of the door to room two is a computer that tells you how to how to play. - To the right of the door is a tip on playing. Room 2 - Cool F1 model and a booth babe. - The arcade cabinet is straight forward from the door. - Next to the cabinet is a scoreboard from Namco's developers. b.Phozon Room 1 - Ths area resembles a labratory - First to your left is sales pamphlet... - followed by a instruction card... - then a POP card... - a promo poster... - and finally a "How to play" computer. - on the right of the door is the PC board. - then a "tip" computer Room 2 - "Atomic Power Lab" - just the arcade cabinet c.Tower of Druaga Room 1 - castle design of course - to the left , instruction card... - then a sales pamphlet... - last a POP card. - from the right , a "Tower of Druaga" board game? (looks kinda cool) - further down the hall on the right , PC board... - then some character buttons... - last , a key chain figure of Gil - Left and right of room 2 door are the tip , play screens. Room 2 - the arcade cabinet and a really cool rendering of Druaga d.Galaxian Room 1 - to the left , a screen overlay and top display... - poster artwork... - and the PC board. - from the right , sales pamphlet... - instruction card... - special arcade machine with speaker on top(?) - required tip , play screens Room 2 - launch bay room with the arcade cabinet , pretty boring unless... - if you wait a few seconds then the base goes on red alert , and one of the galaxian fighters rises up , fuels up , then takes of into battle. Very cool looking. e.Ms Pac-Man Room 1 - The Pac-Man's (Pac-Men?) yard and house - pretty sparse , to the left is the PC board , some Pac-man plush toys (cool) , and of course the tip , game play screens. Room 2 - Pac-Man's house , the arcade cabinet , a really ugly Ms.Pac-Man and Pac-pup dancing , and a disturbing easter egg (see SECRETS). f.Dig Dug Room 1 - mine shaft design - to the left , instruction card and POP card - to the right , the top display/screen overlay and character buttons. - in the middle , PC board , a cap of Pooka (o_0)... - a strategy guide (I want one for the recipes :) )... - and a wind up pooka/pooka balloon. - tip and game play screens. Room 2 - well designed canyon with the arcade cabinet. 3.The Library -------------- This is where you can learn some things about Namco. a.The Official History of Namco "1978-1996" *1978 - Gee Bee *1979 - Bomb Bee - *Galaxian - Cutie Q *1980 - Navarone - *Pac-Man - Tank Battalion - King & Balloon *1981 - Rally-X - NEW Rally-X - Warp & Warp - *Galaga - Bosconian *1982 - *Dig Dug - *Pole Position - Super Pac-Man *1983 - Xevious - Mappy - Pac & Pal - *Pole Position 2 - *Phozon - Libble Rabble *1984 - Gaplus - *The Tower of Druaga - Pac-Land - Grobda *1985 - Dragon Buster - Dig Dug 2 - Hopping Mappy - *Metro-Cross - *Baraduke - Motos - Sky Kid *1986 - *Toypop - Skykid DX - The Return of Ishtar - Thunder Ceptor - The Genzi and the Heike Clans - Rolling Thunder - 3D Thunder Ceptor 2 *1987 - Wonder-Momo - Shadow-Land - *Dragon Spirit - Blazer - Quester - Pac-Mania - Final Lap - Galaga '88 *1988 - World Stadium - Assualt - Brabo-Man - Marchen Maze - Bakutotsu Kiju Tei - Ordyne - Metal Hawk - World Court - Splatterhouse - Future-Ninja - Face Off *1989 - Phelious - Winning Run - Rompers - Blast Off -*The Legend of "Valkyrie" - Winning Run SD - Dirt Fox - World Stadiun '89 - Finest Hour - Burning Force - Four Trax - Dangerous Seed *1990 - Marvel Land - Galaxian^3 - Kyukai-Dochu-Ki - World Stadium '90 - Final Lap 2 - Adventure of Pistol Daimyo - Dragon Saber *1991 - Driver's Eyes - Rolling Thunder 2 - Winning Run '91 - Steel Gunner - Star Blade - Super World Stadium - Solvalou - Tank Force *1992 - Steel Gunner 2 - Cosmogang the Video - Driver's Eyes (Linkable) - Bakuretsu Maq Daibouken - Super World Stadium '92 - Final Lap 3 - Fighter & Attacker - Cosmogang the Puzzle - Exvania *1993 - Galaxian^3 (?) - (Theater & Project Dragoon) - Super World Court - Knuckle Heads - Lucky & Wild - Super World Stadium '93 - Air Combat - Emeraldia - Cybersled - Netto-Gekito-Quizu-To - Numan Athletics - Ridge Racer (DX) - Great Sluggers - Ridge Racer (Fullscale) *1994 - Ridge Racer (STD) - Final Lap R - Tinkle Pit - Nebulasray - Ridge Racer 2 - Attack of the Zolgear - J League Soccer V Shoot - Point Blank - Ace Driver - Cyber Commando - Tekken *1995 - Mach Breakers - Air Combat 22 - The Outfoxies - Cyber Cycles - Alpine Racer - Super World Stadium '95 - Rave Racer - Tekken2 - Namco Classic Collection Vol.1 *1996 - Dirt Dash - Soul Edge - Ace Driver Victory Lap - Time Crisis So what did we learn from this histroy lesson? - That Namco is bad about coming up with good game names. - That their good years were really good but their bad years were really awful - Namco Loves a good racing game - That they are almost as bad as EA with their yearly game updates. b.Other Stuff - Galaxian Sitdown Arcade Game (Photograph) - Tower of Druaga Pamphlet (Illustrations) - Tower of Druaga Characters (Illustrations) - Tower of Druaga Designs (Illustrations) - Monthly NG 15-28 (Magazine Covers) 4.The Theater -------------- Here you can look at a slideshow of all the character models , listen to the in- game music , and all the sound-fx of all the games in this museum. NOTE : Unless someone out there actually cares , I probobly will not bother listing all the sounds , music and visual frames for each game because some of the games (cough.. Tower of Druaga cough..) have too many of each one and I don't have the time or patience to bother but if someone else wants to go stir-crazy listing them all and send it to me I'll check it over and post it with plenty of due credit.
