   Introduction
-------------------
As most of you know already, you unlock new words of
power in the Dragon Language at the word walls
scattered across the land of Skyrim. But adding these
new words to your growing vocabulary is not all that is
needed to use the new words you find in powerful Dragon
Shouts. You'll also need to absorb the souls of
Dragons.

But, of all the things you'll do in Skyrim, absorbing
the souls of those pesky Dragons is a much less daunting
task than actually fully learning the language of the
great serpents. Hopefully, with this guide, you can do
just that, and become fully versed on the Dragon
language and turn those powerful shouts against them.

-------------------
      Part 1
-------------------
Most Dragon shouts can be used in three different ways,
by how long you hold down the button used for your
Shout ability. A quick tap of the button will use only
the first word, the least powerful of the shout. A
quick hold and release will use the first two words and
simply holding down the button fully will shout out all
three words.

While using the full blast of the three-word Thu'um
gives you a sense of power and ability, sometimes the
most appropriate use of your powers is to only use a bit
of your ability. When you use the full shout, the
recharge time is usually nearly twice as long as that of
just using the first word of the same shout.

In most instances, the first word of a shout is plenty
powerful enough for the situation you find yourself in.
It's important to keep this in mind, because there will
be times when you'll want to use the powers you have
several times in a single fight. Using the different
lengths of shouts can make the difference between life
and death in Skyrim.

Some Dragon Shouts can only be used when all three words
are shouted, but most have a variety of power and
variation. For those having problems using just one or
two words, here's a quick hint:

For the first word only, simply tap the button quickly.
You should hear your character simply shout the first
word.

For two words, push the button and hold it until you
hear your character inhale once, then release the
button. Your character should shout out two words this
time.

For three words, you hold the button until you hear your
character inhale twice, then when you release the button
your character will release his full-throated Thu'um.

Description / Notes

ANIMAL ALLEGIANCE
Raan (Animal/50) - Mir (Allegiance/60) - Tah (Pack/70)
- Angarvunde (The Rift)
- Ancient's Ascent (Falkreath Hold)
- Ysgramor's Tomb (Winterhold)
A shout for help from beasts of the wild, who come to
fight in your defense. This shout will charm all nearby
animals who will fight for you for a short period of
time.

AURA WHISPER
Laas (Life/30) - Yah (Seek/40) - Nir (Hunt/50)
- Northwind Summit (The Rift)
- Valthume (The Reach)
- Volunruud (The Pale)
Your Thu'um is not a shout, but an undetectable whisper,
revealing all the life forces around you. This dragon
shout is a powerful tool for thieves and assassins.

BECOME ETHEREAL
Feim (Fade/20) - Zil (Sprint/30) - Gran (Bind/40)
- Ironbind Barrow (Winterhold)
- Lost Valley Redoubt (The Reach)
- Ustengrav (Hjaalmarch): The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller
The Thu'um reaches out to the Void, changing your form
to one that cannot harm, or be harmed. Great for
retreating from a battle or getting past dangerous
traps.

CALL DRAGON
Od (Snow/-) - Ah (Hunter/-) - Viing (Wing/300)
- You learn this shout during the "The Fallen"
This Shout summons the dragon Odahviing to battle during
the Main Quest: The Fallen, and once you complete the
quest, you can summon Odahviing to aid you in most
exterior areas. This shout requires that you call out
all three words ... Odahviing's whole name.

CALL OF VALOR
Hun (Hero/180) - Kaal (Champion/180) - Zoor (Legend/180)
- You learn this shout at the end of the Main Quest.
The valient warriors of Sovngarde hear your call, and
journey beyond space and time to lend their aid. Each
level of this shout summons a different hero, so choose
the best one to meet your current needs, since each one
has the same cooldown time:
- Gormlaith Golden-Hilt (Hun) wields a bow, sword,
shield, and a few Shouts.
- Felldir the Old (Hun Kaal) wields a greatsword and
uses a number of damaging Shouts.
- Hakon One-Eye (Hun Kaal Zoor) wields a battleaxe and
uses melee shouts.

CLEAR SKIES
Lok (Sky/5) - Vah (Spring/10) - Koor (Summer/15)
- You learn this shout during "The Throat of the World"
Skyrim itself yields before the Thu'um, as you clear
away fog and inclement weather. Not to mention poison
gas.

DISARM
Zun (Weapon/30) - Haal (Hand/35) - Viik (Defeat/40)
- Eldersblood Peak (Hjaalmarch)
- Silverdrift Lair (The Pale)
- Snow Veil Sanctum (Winterhold)
Your Thu'um defies steel, as you rip the weapon from a
weaker opponent's grasp. This shout only works against
certain level foes, with higher levels of the shout
disarming higher level foes. Even so, some enemies may
not be disarmed.

DISMAYING SHOUT
Faas (Fear/40) - Ru (Run/45) - Maar (Terror/50)
- Dead Crane Rock (The Reach)
- Labyrinthian (Hjaalmarch)
- Lost Tongue Overlook (The Rift)
The weak shall fear the Thu'um, and flee in terror. Use
this shout to make your enemies flee from you. Higher
level uses of this shout effect higher level foes.

DRAGONREND
Joor (Mortal/10) - Zah (Finite/12) - Frul (Temporary/15)
- You learn this shout during "Alduin's Bane"
Your voice lashes out at a dragon's very soul, forcing
the beast to land. For melee fighters, this shout is
the most useful shout for fighting dragons. The more
words shouted, the higher level dragon effected.

ELEMENTAL FURY
Su (Air/30) - Grah (Battle/40) - Dun (Grace/50)
- Dragontooth Crater (The Reach)
- Killreath Ruins (Haafingar)
- Shriekwind Bastion (Falkreath Hold)
This shout imbues your arms with the speed of the wind,
allowing you to swing faster and strike quicker. This
shout only lasts a short time, but during that time,
your damage output increases vastly. However, the
weapon cannot be enchanted.

FIRE BREATH
Yal (Fire/30) - Toor (Inferno/50) - Shul (Sun/100)
- Dustman's Cairn (Whiterun)
- Sunderstone Gorge (Falkreath Hold)
- Throat of the World (Whiterun): Throat of the World
Inhale air, exhale flames, and behold the Thu'um as
inferno. Against foes susceptible to fire damage, like
vampires and Frost Dragons, this shout is amazingly
useful. Be aware, the full shout's cooldown is over
three times as long as the basic first word's.

FROST BREATH
Fo (Frost/30) - Krah (Cold/50) - Diin (Freeze/100)
- Bonestrewn Crest (Eastmarch)
- Folgunthur (Hjaalmarch)
- Skyborn Alter (Hjaalmarch)
Your breath is winter, your Thu'um a blizzard. Frost
Breath does about the same damage as Fire Breath, but
instead of setting enemies on fire, it slows them.
Because of this secondary effect, the Frost Breath
shout is actually more useful than Fire Breath. Again,
the full shout has more than three times the cooldown
of the first word alone.

ICE FORM
Iiz (Ice/60) - Slen (Flesh/90) - Nus (Statue/120)
- Frostmere Crypt (The Pale)
- Mount Anthor (Winterhold)
- Saarthar (Winterhold)
Your Thu'um freezes opponents solid. Of the many
shouts available to you, this is the ultimate crowd
control shout. One blast of this shout and a group of
enemies become easy to pick off one-on-one instead of
all at once. Be aware, once you hit an enemy encased
in ice from this power, the ice breaks and they begin
to recover.

KYNE'S PEACE
Kaan (Kyne/40) - Drem (Peace/50), Ov (Trust/60)
- Ragnvald (The Reach)
- Rannveig's Fast (Whiterun Hold)
- Shroud Hearth Barrow (The Rift)
The voice soothes wild beasts, who lose their desire to
fight. This will demoralize creatures in range and
will be soothed into peacefulness or simply turn and
flee.

MARKED FOR DEATH
Krii (Kill/20) - Lun (Leech/30) - Aus (Suffer/40)
- Autumnwatch Tower (The Rift)
- Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary (Falkreath Hold)
- Forsaken Cave (The Pale)
Speak, and let your voice herald doom, as an opponent's
armor and lifeforce are weakened. This shout is great
for use against bosses as it damages an enemy over
time.

SLOW TIME
Tiid (Time/30) - Klo (Sand/45) - Ul (Eternity/60)
- Hag's End (The Reach)
- Korvanjund (The Pale)
- Labyrinthian (Hjaalmarch)
Your Thu'um shouts time to a standstill, while you
continue to move and strike. There are many uses for
this shout ... see if you can find one that is unique!

STORM CALL
Strun (Storm/180) - Bah (Wrath/240) - Qo (Lightning/300)
- Forelhost (The Rift)
- High Gate Ruins (The Pale)
- Skuldafn (Other Realm): The World-Eater's Eyrie
Your shout tears the skies, cries to the clouds, and
awakens the destructive force of a Skyrim lightning
storm. This shout only works outdoors, and is great for
taking down dragons, but beware that it can kill
civilians and followers.

THROW VOICE
Zul (Voice/5) - Mey (Foul/15) - Gut (Far/30)
- All three words are found at Shearpoint (The Pale)
Your Thu'um is heard, but it's source is unknown,
fooling foes into seeking it out. This shout is perfect
for those who sneak around, as it can easily distract
those in your path.

UNRELENTING FORCE
Fus (Force/15) - Ro (Balance/20) - Dah (Push/45)
- Bleak Falls Barrow (Falkreath Hold)
- High Hrothgar (Whiterun Hold): The Way of the Voice
Your Thu'um translates into raw power, pushing anyone
and anything aside. This power fires a shockwave of
force energy that stuns and pushes enemies, even
sometimes sending them flying off their feet. Be aware,
the full shout's cooldown time is three times longer
than simply using the first word.

WHIRLWIND SPRINT
Wuld (Whirlwind/20) - Nah (Fury/25) - Kest (Tempest/35)
- Dead Stallion's Respite (Hjaalmarch)
- Volkskygge (Haafingar)
- High Hrothgar (Whiterun Hold): The Way of the Voice
Your Thu'um rushes forward, carrying you with it in a
rush of speed. This power is useful in it's most simple
form for speeding past traps, but it can also be useful
for jumping long distances and climbing mountains.

 Acknowledgements
-------------------
First and foremost, I'd like to thank the fine folks at
Bethesda for making The Elder Scrolls V: SKYRIM. It's
one of the best games I've played in years, and judging
on my time spent in the game already, it will continue
to be one of my favorites for quite a long time.

Secondly, I'd like to thank both Prima Games for their
wonderful guide and The Elder Scrolls Wikia for their
easily accessible information. Both were instrumental
in putting this guide together quickly.

Third, I'd like to thank GameFAQs for publishing this
guide for other players to use.

And lastly, I'd like to say that I
(Darth VeX/VixenofVenus) do not want this guide
reprinted or published on any other site other than
GameSpot/GameFAQs. I made this guide for the loyal
gamers of that site, and it should remain exclusive to
them.

Thank you all for reading, and enjoy!
