   I wrote this FAQ based on many hours of research on NFL Blitz '99 
(arcade) and
NFL Blitz 2000 (PSX), as well as the "official" Midway strategy guide. As 
this
information is something that anyone could discover on their own, I 
encourage
you to copy, cut and paste, or otherwise reproduce this article and place 
copies
at every arcade and Wal-Mart snack bar that you find this game. No one 
should
have to spend US $13.00 on a "strategy" book for a game that takes about 3
minutes to learn just to get the cool codes. I do ask that you do not simply
stick your name at the top of this document and claim it as your own.

Changed a few errors concerning team playbooks and who the characters 
affect. Eventually there will be one more update when I get time to find out 
which symbols correspond to which number of button presses. Unless of course 
someone wants to email me with that info *hint hint* :).....

The Pre-Game Show:
   This FAQ is a listing of the secret "Tonight's Matchup" screen codes and 
hidden character names and PIN numbers for NFL Blitz 2000, which is the 
updated home version of the arcade game NFL Blitz '99, which is in turn the 
sequel to NFL Blitz, which also had several home versions....whew. This list 
covers both the Playstation and Nintendo64 versions of the game, and 
according to the "official" strategy guide (which is where several of these 
codes came from), the upcoming Sega Dreamcast version shares the PS codes. 
Of course, this remains to be seen....

The Codes:
   For the codes listed below, the numbers indicate how many times you must 
press the Turbo, Jump and Pass buttons (in that order), followed by a 
direction on the control pad/joystick that must be pressed to enter the 
code. For example, 1-2-3-U means you would press Turbo once, Jump twice, and 
Pass 3 times, then tap Up on the joystick. Once the code has been 
successfully entered, the name of the code will appear over the three boxes 
and they will reset so that more codes may be entered. There is no maximum 
number of codes you can put in; you are only held to the 5-6 second time 
limit.
   Codes marked (2P) indicate that in a 2-player game, both players must 
enter the code or that the code only works in 2-player mode; (4P) means that 
the code only works in a 4-player game. (P) indicates a Playstation-only 
code, and (N) indicates an N64-only code; P/N means the code works on either 
system. All codes are listed in numerical order; if two codes use the same 
numbers but a different joystick direction, they are listed in the order 
U/D/L/R.

Team Playbook Codes:
   In the original Blitz, each team had the same set of plays to choose 
from: 2 screens of offense and 1 defense. In Blitz 2000, each team now has a 
unique playbook that works to their skills (more running plays for a 
ground-offensive team, etc.) Due to the memory limitations of the PSX, by 
default all teams still have the same plays. In order to access the 
playbooks for the teams you are using, you must enter the corresponding 
codes listed below. For the N64 version, entering the "1-0-0-Up" code will 
activate the special playbooks for all teams.

Hidden Characters:
   The secret characters are accessed by entering the indicated names and 
PIN numbers at the record-keeping screen. Only the active ball carrier will 
actually be affected by the code. The drawback is that anyone using the same 
character will also affect the saved record on the machine, so don't rely on 
them as your primary team.
