=============================== DEAD OR ALIVE 5: ULTIMATE =============================== ~~Secrets Guide~~ by Aratir Version 1.02 October 14, 2013 Publisher: Tecmo System: XBox 360, Playstation 3 Genre: Fighting Game Rating: Mature (Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, Violence) ********** *CONTENTS* ********** 1. Introduction 2. Unlockables 3. Tips and Tricks 4. Costume List 5. Victory Pose List 6. Achievements/Trophies 7. FAQ 8. Thanks/Links 9. Version History/Disclaimer ************** *INTRODUCTION* ************** Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate is an update to the original Dead or Alive 5 that adds new characters, stages, costumes, and gameplay features. A lot (but not all) of the DLC costumes from the original version are now able to be freely unlocked instead (though if you bought the DLC for the original it will carry over and they will be unlocked from the start). Since there wasn't a Secrets or Unlockable guide, I decided to throw this together so all the information would be in one place. This guide will cover the various secrets and unlockables in the game. ************* *UNLOCKABLES* ************* [--UNLOCKING COSTUMES--] To unlock a new costume for a character, simply beat one of the single-player modes (Arcade, Time Attack, or Survival) on any difficulty. If you play in Tag mode, both characters will unlock new costumes. Repeat as many times as needed to unlock all the costumes for a character. New costumes can also be unlocked by playing a certain amount of online matches. Story Mode is no longer required for any costumes in Ultimate. Please note that there are still three costumes with special requirements, though. They are detailed in the next section. Costumes will always unlock in order (C3, then C4, then C5, etc.) aside from the legendary ones. Please note: If you have not patched your game to 1.02 or higher, then you cannot unlock costumes by replaying the same mode and difficulty over and over. After patch 1.02, however, you can replay Rookie Arcade as much as you want and still easily unlock costumes every time. [--UNLOCKING LEGENDARY COSTUMES--] For Tina's legendary swimsuit you must clear Solo Arcade on Legendary difficulty without continuing, OR play (just play, you don't have to win) 50 Ranked matches online. It doesn't matter which character you use. For Christie's legendary swimsuit you must clear Solo Time Attack on Legendary without continuing, OR play 100 Ranked matches online. For Lisa's legendary swimsuit you must clear Solo Survival on Legendary (which means 100 opponents in a row), OR play 200 Ranked matches online. Please note that all three characters have color-swapped versions of their legendary costumes available as DLC. [--UNLOCKING VICTORY POSES--] All you have to do to unlock a Victory Pose in the Movie gallery is see it once. Tag Victories generally do not count. Different poses have different requirements. Here are all the types of requirements: Basic: These are always available and are based on what the last button you pushed before the victory screen was (Hold, Punch, or Kick). Winning a match and holding each of these buttons before the screen will unlock the vast majority of these. Greatest: A handful of characters have a special animation if they win the match with a "Greatest" (meaning the match must have more than one round). Characters that have these include Ayane, Helena, Hitomi, Lisa/La Mariposa, Akira, Pai, and Sarah. Beware, if you hold a button, you may override the Greatest pose. Character-Specific: Ayane and Bayman both have Victory poses for when they defeat certain characters. Like the above, you may override the character specific pose by holding a button. Story Mode: Some characters have Victory poses only seen in the Story Mode. Only Hitomi and Jann Lee have these. Special Note: Lisa/La Mariposa has different sets of Victory poses depending on if she is wearing a "Lisa" or "La Mariposa" costume. Please see the Victory Pose list later in the guide for a complete listing of all poses and their requirements. [--UNLOCKING DEFEAT POSES--] These are simple, just go into any solo match against the computer and lose. Each character only has one defeat pose, so there is no special trick to this. [--UNLOCKING SYSTEM VOICES--] The DoA system voice is unlocked by default. All other system voices are obtained by completing all of a character's moves in Command Training. When you complete Command Training with a character, you obtain their voice for use as a system voice (except Alpha-152, who unlocks Donovan's voice instead). Once you have all the other system voices, you unlock "Own Character" and "Opponent" as system voice options. Please note that Ein, Akira, Pai, Sarah, and Jacky do not have system voices so their Command Training is not required. [--UNLOCKING MUSIC TRACKS--] The first two times you clear a single-player mode (Arcade, Time Attack, or Survival) you will unlock music from DoA2 and DoA3. You can then set these themes to whatever you would like in the Music Options. Note that these tracks are apparently not unlockable in "Core Fighters" and must instead be purchased separately. [--UNLOCKING "OMG" MODE--] This setting will unlock once you have obtained at least ten different Defeat Poses in your Movie gallery. As of the writing of this FAQ, some characters seem to not count towards the total so you may actually need a few extra ones in order to unlock it. ***************** *TIPS AND TRICKS* ***************** [--MODIFYING COSTUMES--] Many costumes can be modified in some way when selecting them. There are three different things that can typically be done. A special tone will play when selecting a costume if you do one of these and it works. The first is to hold down one or more of the bumpers or triggers when selecting a costume. If this does anything, it will usually change the character's hairstyle, accessory, or toggle a hat. The second is to hold left or right on the DPad, which will toggle a pair of glasses for the character. For both of the above, you can easily see which costumes have those options available by going to the Victory or Defeat poses in the Movie gallery. When selecting to view a pose you can pick a character's costume and will be given options for their hair and glasses. If these options aren't available then you can't do anything to that costume. The third option changes the color or design of a character's underwear. This is done by selecting the costume with the X button or Y button instead of the A button (Square or Triangle instead of Cross for PS3). This generally only applies for costumes where you can actually see their underwear. [--EXHIBITION MODE--] When playing an offline Versus match, you have the option to turn on Exhibition Mode. This will unlock all unlockable costumes (but not DLC costumes) for the duration of your play, but will not save them. This allows you to take the game to a friends house and still play with all the costumes without having to individually unlock them all. The legendary costumes will also be unlocked. However, titles and statistics will not be saved while it is on. [--BATTLE MUSIC--] By default, the game plays a music track associated with your current stage. However, in the music options you can change it to play music associated with one of the characters in the fight instead. You can also customize which tracks are associated with which characters and stages. Please note that the Virtua Fighter characters (Akira, Pai, Sarah, and Jacky) have no theme music of their own, and so by default they are set to just play the Stage music. You can freely assign whatever tracks you want to them. [--RANDOM FILTER--] In the options, it is possible to set which stages and characters appear when you select Random. So if you like playing around with different characters or stages but have a few that you just hate, you can filter them out. Note that this has no effect on the Random Stage the game selects for you in Ranked Online matches. [--MOVE LIST & MOVE DETAILS--] These are pretty useful tools for learning a new character. They can be turned on by pausing and going to "Fight Details" but you can only have one on at a time. Move List is actually a little more than you would think. Whenever you press a button, it will display the various buttons you can press next to do a combo. So for example, if you press K, it may show you that you can perform KKP, KKKK, KK2K, and KK9K. The buttons will also highlight as you press them, so it's pretty informative. You can also click a thumbstick to lock the move list to only display the current ones. click again to unlock. Move Details provides you with the frame data and other information (like if the attack is Standing or Crouching) and you can also lock it by clicking the thumbstick. ************** *COSTUME LIST* ************** This only covers the default and unlockable costumes. DLC Costumes are not listed. [--A Fighter is Born--] *Description: Complete all lessons in Tutorial. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: There are 42 Chapters, so this can take a while and can have a few frustrating ones if you are new to the game. [--A New Challenger Appears!--] *Description: Played in Combo Challenge. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Just load up any Combo Challenge. [--Ahhh, Memories--] *Description: View your photos in the Album. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Just look at any photo in your Album. [--Anybody, Anytime, Anywhere--] *Description: Set "Throwdowns" to "Accept" and have 10 Throwdowns in Versus, Arcade, or Free Training mode. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: Once Throwdowns are on, a little icon will appear in the bottom-right of the screen while you are playing. If it is Blue, you will be Player 1, if it is Red, then the other player has already accepted and the match will instantly begin with you as Player 2 when you accept it. To accept press the Back button (or Select Button on PS3). [--Arcade (Solo) Cleared--] *Description: Clear 1 course in Arcade (solo) mode. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Just put it on Rookie and mash buttons. You'll probably win. There are eight matches and you have to win two rounds in each. The characters are random and there is no real "final boss." [--Arcade (Tag) Cleared--] *Description: Clear all courses in Arcade (tag) mode. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: The description is a lie. You just have to beat it on any difficulty, so put it on Rookie and mash buttons again. This is even easier than Solo since there are only five matches and you only have to win one round each. [--Blow 'Em Away--] *Description: Successfully land a Power Blow. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Just plug in a second controller or play against Rookie AI. When your health is below 50%, do the motion for your character's Power Blow. [--Catch and Release--] *Description: Trigger the Special Danger Zone in Sky City Tokyo. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: Slam your opponent into the far wall to trigger the giant statue early (or if you are playing with multiple rounds, it will appear on it's own in a later round). Once the statue is there, do a Power Blow and knock your opponent into it. Note that the statue will not appear in Tag mode. [--Change of Power--] *Description: Press H+P+K during a Power Blow to tag in a partner and deliver a Tag Power Blow. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: You have to make sure that both of your characters are below 50% health (especially your tagged out partner, who can quickly regenerate health) and then start a Power Blow with your first character. When it gets to the part where time slows down and you have a second to choose the direction to knock your opponent, press the Tag button and your partner will jump in. [--Cliffhanger Comeback--] *Description: Successfully block an opponent's attack during a Cliffhanger. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Easiest to do with a second controller or a friend online. Very random (and rare) otherwise. [--DOA5 Ultimate Is My Life--] *Description: Fight online 100 times. *360 Point Value: 50 *PS3 Trophy Value: Gold *Tips: Just keep playing online. It doesn't matter if you win or lose. Ranked Matches are probably better since you can just turn on Throwdowns to get those and it will work towards getting the Legendary Costumes too. This achievement will probably take the longest amount of time to get. [--DOA5 Ultimate Master--] *Description: Unlock all achievements. *360 Point Value: 50 *PS3 Trophy Value: Platinum *Tips: This unlocks once you have all the others. [--Down You Go--] *Description: Successfully attack during a Cliffhanger. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Again, easier with a second controller or online friend. [--Exercise Newbie--] *Description: Complete all moves for a character in Command Training. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: Bass, Rachel, and Tina are probably some of the easier ones. You only need to complete one for this. [--Failure Teaches Success--] *Description: See 10 characters' losing poses. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: Just go against the CPU and lose with ten different characters. [--Fighter, Know Thyself--] *Description: View your results in Fight Record. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Simply open up the Fight Record. [--Fighting Entertainment--] *Description: Have your first fight outside of Training or Versus modes. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Just play any other mode. [--Fighting For Real--] *Description: Play a Ranked match. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Join any Ranked match and see it to the end. Doesn't matter if you win or lose. [--First Tag Team--] *Description: Fight a tag match. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Have a tag match in any mode. [--Fledgling Fighter--] *Description: Fight a Versus (solo) match. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Go into Versus Solo and play a match. [--Gesundheit!--] *Description: Trigger the Special Danger Zone in The Show. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: Use a Power Blow to knock your opponent into the giant clown face on the wall and they will be ejected out of the nose. There are 3 versions of the Circus map, so make sure you are on the right one. [--Get out there and Fight!--] *Description: Play a Lobby match. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Play any lobby match. It doesn't matter if you lose. You do have to actually fight though, not just watch someone else's match in the lobby. [--How Do I Fight Like a Pro?--] *Description: Display the Move Details. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: In most offline modes you can pause and go to Fight Details to turn this on. It will display frame data and other information across the bottom of the screen. [--How Do I Fight?--] *Description: Display the Move List. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Similar to the above, except for Move List. [--I Read Every Move--] *Description: Win without taking any damage. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: Getting a "Great" on any round gets this. You'll probably get this just by going against the Rookie AI, but can also just use a second controller. [--My Fight, My Rules--] *Description: Create your own online lobby. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Just go into Lobby mode and make your own. You can then instantly close it if you want. [--On the Edge of Your Seat--] *Description: Play Spectator mode. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Just go into Spectator mode and it will unlock. [--Power in Numbers--] *Description: Have a Team Fight. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Just play a Team Fight. [--Rival Rampage--] *Description: Fight online 10 times. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: You'll get this on the way to the 100 online fights achievement. [--Rival Rumble--] *Description: Fight online. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: See the above achievement. [--Rivals--] *Description: Register a fighter in your Fighter List. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: After an online match, select the Register option from the menu that pops up. You can then delete them from your register if you want. [--Safety First--] *Description: Turn Danger Zones off on the Stage Select screen. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: When selecting your stage, just press Y (Triangle for PS3) [--Say Cheese!--] *Description: Take a photo in Spectator mode. *360 Point Value: 10 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Just take a photo. [--Survival (Solo) Cleared--] *Description: Clear 1 course in Survival (solo) mode. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: The easiest way is to just put in on Rookie so you only have to defeat ten opponents. This is a little harder than Arcade mode, but remember that if you attack your opponent while they are on the ground they will drop extra items and some of them recover your health. [--Survival (Tag) Cleared--] *Description: Clear all courses in Survival (tag) mode. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Like Arcade Tag, the description is lying and you can complete it on any difficulty. So just load up Rookie again and you'll only have to defeat ten opponents. It's easier than Solo since when you get low on health you can tag in your partner for a while. [--Tango Kilo November--] *Description: Trigger the Special Danger Zone in Hot Zone. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: Just use a Power Blow and aim for the Helicopter that's low to the ground. [--The Power of Two--] *Description: Perform 10 kinds of character-specific tag throws. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: Most characters with a special Tag intro or outro also have a tag throw. The command for this is usually to tap forward twice and then press the Tag button, all in quick succession. A list of people with Tag Throws can be found here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/714549-dead-or-alive-5-ultimate/67272360 [--Time Attack (Solo) Cleared--] *Description: Clear 1 course in Time Attack (solo) mode. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: This is basically identical to your Arcade run and can be done on Rookie difficulty as well. The only difference is you are scored based on time instead of points. [--Time Attack (Tag) Cleared--] *Description: Clear all courses in Time Attack (tag) mode. *360 Point Value: 20 *PS3 Trophy Value: Bronze *Tips: Like the other Tag Mode achievements, it's lying and you only have to do it on one difficulty, so go ahead for Rookie. [--Training Hard--] *Description: Play Free Training mode for 1 hour. *360 Point Value: 30 *PS3 Trophy Value: Silver *Tips: Some people said this was cumulative, but I had to do it all at once for it unlock for me. Not anymore, they were patched to have the same requirements, except for the DoA2 and DoA3 music which much be purchased for Core Fighters and can't be unlocked.
