 OCTOBER 4, 1999
 ---------------

 Started this document. Soon I will be uploading it to web. Remember that
 you can find the most updated version of this FAQ at gamefaqs.com because
 that's where this FAQ is mostly sent first. If you see other sites with
 this FAQ, mainly the top 3 on the top of this document, you may be looking
 at an old version of this FAQ. This section of "History of this FAQ" wil
 not contain updates, but rather some important dates on this FAQ.

 OCTOBER 10, 1999
 ----------------

 Today is the last update of this FAQ. I beleive I've done enough with this
 FAQ. The Pitchers Roster is now complete. Hope you like it because it took
 me a while to write it down. It's not really a comfortable job. I First
 thought of writing another FAQ for that but, I just decided to put it here
 I kinda felt different. I think this game is just getting old. Somehow is
 not fun anymore. I Think that now I'm going to start writing FAQs for new
 upcoming games. Maybe WCW Mayhem will be the next game I write a FAQ for.
 Also, just to let you know, I own both Triple PLay and MLB 2K games. And
 soon I'm getting WCW Mayhem, so spect a FAQ/Movelist pretty soon.

 NOVEMBER 19, 1999
 -----------------

 Oh my, when I thought I wasn't gonna update this FAQ anymore, I just keep
 on writing and writing. Today I.....

 - Changed interface
 - Updated a few minor glitches
 - Used a new Text Editor

 That's just about it I think. Soon I'll make this FAQ even bigger, more
 complete, and more user friendly. See you next update.

* Pitchers are a lot in MLB 2000, but after playing 30+ hours with the *
* game, only 3 Pitchers came out on top. Randy Johnson *
* comes on top, with Kevin Brown behind him. This two do not *
* need to act tough. They ARE tough! *
*                                                                          *
* Randy Johnson can play up to 14.3 innings and still have enough energy *
* left to strike out people. I have to say that Randy Johnson is the *
* toughest pitcher in the game. - *
*                                                                          *
* Kevin Brown has some interesting throws as he can do 3 types of sinkers*
* 3 types of sliders and a devastating fast ball combined with a circle *
* change that make him a dangerous pitcher in the hands of a master. - *
*                                                                          *
* Kerry Wood's best offense is his defense. His change up, curve ball and*
* fast ball can keep opponents guessing when used down and in, inside the*
*   strikezone -                                                           *
*                                                                          *
* Ron Villone has the most powerful arm in the game, so use it to your *
* advantage when throwing fast balls. Keep in mind that his split finger *
* is the most difficult pitch to hit in the game. Use his change up down *
*   and in.-                                                               *

* Matt Mantei's slider is the least breaking pitch in the game. This is *
* used to his advantage when making batter guess between a sinker and a *
*   slider.                                                                *

* You should never, ever choose David Wells...why? Because his slider *
* sucks, his change up is just another fat pitch, and his curve ball *
* doesn't break that much. At least his fast ball is good, but not good *
* enough. If you see anything, and I mean anything good on this guy at al*
* drop me a note at [email protected] and it will be fully *

*                                ___________                               *

* So you want to know which pitch type works the best when on the mound *
* huh? Well the best choice you can get is something that breaks. A *
* breaking ball.                                                           *
*                                                                          *
*                                  CURVE                                   *
*                                                                          *
* The curve ball is very effective when throwing low on the strike zone. *
* It will break at the last second out of the strike zone and batting *
* cursor. Your opponent won't be able to hit the ball if he swings. This *
* will drive your friends nuts when you apply this pitch. It is not wise *
* to try and cheese the computer to death like this, since it knows when a *
* pitch is going to be a ball and not a strike. *
*                                                                          *
*                                                                          *
*                          SINKERS AND SPLITTERS                           *
*                                                                          *
* When throwing a split or a sinker, be sure to know that it is almost *
* impossible to hit the ball with the batting cursor. Only the "Guess *
* Pitch Type" option can help a batter when you throw this pitch (If you *
* keep throwing low on the strike zone the "Guess Pitch Type" function *
* won't work!! Hehehe).                                                    *
* NOTE ON BREAKING BALLS: It is not very ethic to just throw sinkers and *
* split balls at your opponents. Throwing a few fast balls and change ups *
* from time to time may also keep your opponent guessing even more. They *
* will have a hard time making contact. If you keep throwing sinkers and *
* splitters they just won't swing and you will walk the batter. I hate it *
* when that happens. Also if you keep pitching low on the strike zone, 98% *
* of the time they will hit a lame rolling which your second baseman, *
* shortstop or even the pitcher can catch for an easy out on first *
* (Unless.........your first baseman happens to be McGwire who almost 90% *
* of the times will drop the ball and get an error ). *
*                                                                          *
*                                 FAST BALL                                *
*                                                                          *
* Whenever you are throwing any breaking ball at certain spot, your *
* opponent will start using the batting cursor below where you are *
* throwing to try and "guess". Hit them with a rapid fast ball to catch *
* them off "base". Another way of throwing fast balls is by throwing just *
* a little bit below the strike zone, then press and hold R2 or R1 and up *
* or down on the controller. This will cause the yellow box to appear *
* higher or lower on the strikezone (depending on which button you used) *
* causing the batter to place the batting cursor where you had set up the *
* ball and then swing like a fool. *
* NOTE: This may not work all the time. Also try and use pitchers with *
* really fast heaters. (i.e. Randy Johnson who has a 101MP fast ball) *
*                                                                          *
*                                  CHANGE                                  *
*                                                                          *
* This must not always be a fat pitch. The only thing you need to remember *
* about a change is that it works exactly like the fast ball, only slower. *
* The hitter will most likely swing and miss. After playing the game so *
* much I noticed a certain trick to do with the change. After placing the *
* pitch press and hold R2+Up on the controller. *
* The hitter will swing like a fool with the yellow box 'ABOVE' the *
* batting cursor. This tactic worked for me everytime I used Kevin Brown *
* and Ron Villone. (Not always with certain pitchers.) *
* Never, EVER try this with Curt Schilling. *
*                                                                          *
*                                  SLIDER                                  *
*                                                                          *
* It is very easy to guess the pitch type when you throw a slider *
* so don't use it so much. If the hitter makes contact it will surely be *
* a home run.                                                              *
* Pitch low on the strike zone just a little bit on the outside holding *
* the X button for a faster throw. The trick here is to let go of the *
* button just in time. *
* If done correctly the yellow box will appear on the lowest part of your *
* screen way off the strike zone. Almost at the catcher's feet. *
* The change up trick works here too! R2+up on the controller and the *
* slider will appear above the batting cursor. Try pitching inside when *
* using sliders and keep batters guessing between a slider or a *
* sinker/split finger/ curve breaking ball.                                *
* NOTE ON SLIDERS: Hit the corners and a little bit low on the strike zone *
* like in fast balls and change ups. *
* Maddux, Randy Johnson, Jeff Nelson, Matt Mantei, Kent Botenfield and *
* other pitchers have NASTY sliders. I suggest you check them out. *
*                                                                          *
*                                  KNUCKLER                                *
*                                                                          *
* This works just like the slider. You can use the same trick with the *
* Slider here. Press and hold R2 or R1 and up or down on the controller. *
* This will cause the yellow box to appear higher or lower on the strike *
* zone (depending on which button you used) causing the batter to place *
* the batting cursor where you had set up the ball and then swing like a *
* fool.                                                                    *
* I have only seen 2 Pitchers in the game with a knucler and they are *
* Tom Candiotti [Athletics], and Tim Wakefield [Red Sox] *
*                                                                          *
*                                 SCREWGIE                                 *
*                                                                          *
* The only way to get a pitcher with a screw ball is to create one with it *
* There isn't a pitcher in the game with this pitch type, so you'll have *
* to create one to see how it reacts. *
*                                                                          *
*                                                                          *
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

*                                   __________                             *
*                                   Strategies                             *
*                                                                          *
* Don't try to hit Home runs with normal base hit players. It is very *
* hard for them to hit home runs. Use Heavy hitters like Mo Vaughn, *
* McGwire, Sosa, Griffey, etc..... *
* You won't a lot of homeruns by Edgar Renteria, or any pitcher at all. *
* Also, shortstops are the least home run hitters in the game. Maybe Derek*
* Jeter and Barry Larkin can hit a few, but otherwise don't spect a home *
* run from any shortstop. *
*                                                                          *
* When the opposing team trys a bunt to move a runner to second base, *
* DON'T throw at second base! Instead get the easy out on first. It's way *
*  more safer.                                                             *
*                                                                          *
* When your pitcher comes to the plate, use Bunt. It's the best a *
* pitcher can do. Don't try homeruns or doubles, go for a nice bunt. But, *
* you can try and lob an infield hit over the shortstop's head by pressing*
*  down+X button when batting!                                             *
*                                                                          *
* Don't try and hit homeruns all the time. You will fly out a lot. *
* Too many outs are wates this way. When you least expect it, the opponent*
* makes an outfield hit and 2 runs score! That's frustating! However, when*
* you do it, it looks great. *
*                                                                          *
* When using a lefty pitcher against a lefty batter, pitch down and in. *
* It's very hard to bat against a lefty batter if you are batting left. *
* That's one of the reasons why Randy Johnson is a hell of a pitcher. *
*                                                                          *
* If you get hit by a pitcher with 2 outs, nobody on base, what do you *
* do? You go ahead and STEAL the base! *
*                                                                          *
* When using pitchers like Pedro Martinez, try and pitch with the high *
* fastball, followed by a low change. When using Randy Johnson always use *
* his slider! Or get yourself a pitcher with a nice sinker or splitter. *
*                                                                          *
* If you are losing in the scoreboard, and your pitchers steps up to the *
* plate, use a pinch hitter instead. Also if you get on base with a *
*  Pitcher, use a pinch runner.                                            *
*                                                                          *
* When you are about to substitute a pitcher, be sure to warm up the *
* releiver or closer pitcher you whish to use first. You may substitute *
* a starte with another starter when you really need to win a game! It *
*  doesn't really matters!                                                 *
*                                                                          *
* Try and steal bases when the other team's pitcher throws a low pitch. *
*                                                                          *
*                                                                          *
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
