1. Introduction to Break the Targets
-----------------------------------------

The objective in Break the Targets is to break 10
targets which are placed in specific places throughout
a level as fast as possible. Each character has a
different level, and targets in some levels do
different things. Some bounce off of walls, some move
in a specific pattern such as up and down or left and
right, and some are just stationary. As your total
time gets lower, you'll earn rewards for your
accomplishments, explained in the next section. This
guide will help you get those trophies easily, and
you'll have some bragging rights over your friends.

3. What is L cancelling?
--------------------------

L cancelling is pressing L right before you land. 
I'll use a good example to make it clear.  Let's say
you're playing a melee match as Link.  You're in the
air, and you use your down A attack.  When you land,
you are vulnerable to attacks while you stand there
pulling your sword out of the ground.  If you press L
right before you land, he will pull it out much
quicker and you can run, walk, jump, sheild, etc.,
almost instantly after you land.  This is used in BtT
because it makes you recover quicker and you can
continue on to the next target right away.  In several
of the strategies, I have mentioned that you need to L
cancel.  Just practice it a bit and you will be able
to do it right every time.

4. Character Strategies
----------------------------

a) Dr. Mario
-----------------

1. Double jump and land on the lowest moving gray
platform.  Double jump again and Up A the target above
you.
2. Land on the second moving gray platform.  Double
jump up to the third moving gray platform.  Double
jump up to the highest moving gray platform, and right
before you land, throw a pill to the right.  It should
bounce off the third gray platform and hit the target
along the right wall.
3. Turn left.  Double jump to the left and forward A
the target at the top left corner of the level.
4. Fast fall and back A the target below you.
5. Land on the second moving gray platform that is
just about to go in.  Quickly throw a pill to the left
to hit the target at the bottom left.  Right after you
throw the pill, the gray platform will come out from
under you and you will start falling.
These next 3 steps are the hardest part:
6. Fall towards the right, double jump, and land on
the blue 8 that is above where you start.  Run to the
right and jump.  Throw a pill to the right and have it
hit the target in the backwards C.
7. Double jump to the top of the backwards C.  Tap
left, wait a very small fraction of a second, and
press B to shoot a pill to the left and have it hit
the target below where you start.  If you don’t wait
that fraction of a second before you press B, you will
accidentally do a forward B to the left instead of a
regular B attack.  You should have landed on the very
right edge so you slide off as you throw the second
pill.
8. Double jump and Up B to hit the target below the
gray platform and land on it.
9. Facing left, stand on the right side of the gray
platform you are on. When the platform gets about half
way up, jump and press B.  The pill will bounce off
the very edge of the platform you are above and hit
the target against the wall to your left.
10. Land, turn right, double jump, and Up B to hit the
last target.

b) Mario
-------------

1. Turn left and quickly press B to hit the target at
the bottom left with a fireball.
2. Run off the right side, passing a target you will
get later, double jump to the right, and forward B
target 2 through the small wall hanging down.
3,4. Fall to the right and forward B to hit both of
the next targets at the same time.
5. Fall towards the left so you can press B when you
land to hit the target at the bottom right.
6. Turn to the left, double jump, and Up B to hit the
target you passed earlier.
7. Run to the left, double jump, and land on the gray
platform that you’ll just be able to make it on to. 
Double jump facing left and press b to throw a
fireball at the target in the top left corner.
8. Fall to the left of the gray platform you were on
and throw a fireball though the thin hole when you get
to it.
9. Fall to the right and onto the gray platform below
the one you were on before.  Jump to the right and
forward B the target through the wall.
10. Double jump to the right, and when your head is at
the ceiling, throw a fireball to hit the last target.

c) Luigi
-------------

1. Wait for a fraction of a second until the bumper
above your head passes, then jump up and to the right
and fireball the target at the top right.
2,3. Immediately fast fall and press A to hit the 2
target that will be together below you.
4. Before you land, kick the target in the bottom
right corner.
5,6,7. Slam the analog stick to the left and do a
running A attack to hit 3 targets: the one that
bounces fast up and down across the level, and the 2
that are bow next to each other above the hold in the
ground.
8. Jump to the left and forward A the target in front
of you.
9,10. Double jump and Up B to hit the target near you
and the one above that.

d) Bowser
--------------

1,2,3. Double jump straight up  and at the top of your
second jump hold B while falling to the left.  You
will hit the highest target, the target to the left of
where you start, and the target to the right of the
bumper.  Land to the left of the bumper.
4. Jump and Up A the target above you. 
5. Fall to the left and double jump after you pass the
pole suspended in mid air, then back A through the
wallto hit target 5.  L cancel.
6,7. Press down to fall through the floor.  When you
land, do an Up B and slide along the ground to the
right so you hit the target near you and slide off to
hit the one to the right.  Land on the platform below
target 7.
8. Right after you land jump once and land on the
first step.  Double jump to the right to land on the
third step.  Now double jump to the right and over the
small wall sticking up.  Fast fall while doing a down
A to hit the next 2 targets.
10. L cancel when you land and slide off the right
side.  Use your double jump in the air and forward B
through the wall.

e) Peach
-------------

Note: If done correctly, you will be able to get these
first 4 targets without landing on the moving platform
below.

1. Jump up and to the left and left kick the target up
and to the left.
2. Fall to the left. Do your double jump and right A
through the wall to hit the target through it.
3. Right when you get below the floor that you start
on, hold X or Y to float over to the right, forward A
the target above and to the right of the moving
platform, float back, and...
4. Up B to hit the target that is to the left of where
you start.  Remember this should all be done without
falling and landing on the moving platform.
5. Run to the right.  When you get past the thin wall,
jump and Up A the next target.
6. Land, double jump, and Up B to hit the highest
target.
7. Continue to drift to the right so your umbrella
hits the target at the top right part of the level.
8. The instant you hit target 7, fast fall and land
all the way at the bottom on the small platform to the
right.  Throw a vegetable at the target to the right.
9. Jump to the left and forward A in the air.
10. Slide off the first sliver of a platform, double
jump to the left and forward A the last target.

f) Yoshi
-------------

1. Double jump up and a bit to the right.  Do an Up B
to hit the target way up and to the right.
2. Land, turn left, double jump, and Up B to hit the
target over the wall.
3,4,5,6. Before you land, do a right B.  Hit the
target on the platform you are above, the one
to the right and below that, the one to the right and
below that, and the one to the left of that.
7. Press B to break out of the egg after you hit
target 6.  Run to the left a bit and do a stationary A
in the air.
8,9. After the stationary A, you shouldn’t land, but
 your momentum should carry you to the left over the
wall.  Since you are facing left, fall against the
wall and do a back A to hit the target on
the other side of the wall and the one below you.
10. Double jump to the left and still facing left, do
an Up B, but hold backwards a bit, so the egg hits the
target in the backwards “C”.

g) DK
----------

1,2. Do a down B to hit the two targets next to you.
3. Wait a fraction of a second until DK stops.  Run to
the left, do a full jump, then double jump and Up B
very soon after.  You will hit the target with your Up
B and hopefully land on the small platform above.
4. Jump and Up A the target above you.  Use your
second jump to get onto the big blue step to the left.
5. Jump up to the next step.  Double jump to the left
and use a forward A to hit the top left target,
landing on the tiny blue part.  L cancel.
6. Jump to the right still facing left and back A the
highest target to your right.  Fast fall a little.
7. Double jump to the right and back A the next one in
the air.
8. Fast fall onto the middle of the three long red
platforms.  Jump to the right and do another Back A to
hit target 8.
9,10. Jump to the right and Up B, hitting the
stationary target through the ceiling and the one
going
up and down at the same time.

h) Captain Falcon
----------------------

1. Double jump and do an Up A to hit the first target
above you.
2. Land where the target was and L cancel.  Double
jump up to the next platform above you.  Now double
jump straight up, wall jump off the inside of the
right while wall, wall jump off the tiny left wall
hanging down, and Up A through the ceiling right after
the second wall jump.
3. Fall to the left and back A target 3 in the air.
4. Run off the left side of the platform below and do
a forward A in the air the instant you get off the
platform so you barely hit the target.
5. Run to the left and jump and do an Up A while
you're running.
6. Land and continue to run to the top of the slanted
platform to the left.
 Using your momentum to carry you, jump once yo the
left and Up A the target to the left, and double jump
back to the right and Up A the target above the small
platform.  L cancel when you land.  This step will
take a lot of practice to get right.
8. Run off the left side of the small platform and do
a forward A on the target that is now moving upwards
inside the two moving platforms.  Land on the "GO"
sign.
9.   Walk to the left side of the "GO" sign and
forward A target 9 (not running or smash).
10. Double jump to the left to avoid hitting your head
on the ceiling, and Up A the last target.

i) Ganondorf
-----------------

1. Press A to hit the target going by you to from the
left side.
2. Double jump up and a bit to the left and Up A the
target above you, while landing on the platform moving
to the left above you.  L cancel.  This will take some
practice.
3. Before you are slammed into the spikes on the left
side, jump and Up A the target at the top left.
4,5. Fast fall to the left and back A in the air the 2
targets moving to the left below you and land on the
middle of the left stationary platform.
6. Press A to hit the target coming out of the left
wall.
7,8. Press A again.  This time you will hit the target
coming from the left side and the one coming out from
the bottom of the level with one punch.
9. The instant you hit targets 7 and 8, do an Up B
from the ground and hold left a little.  You will hit
the spikes and get shot the the right.  If you did it
correctly, you will bounce off one of the platforms
the travel top the left and right when you can, Up A
the target at the top right that is about to go into
the top right wall.
10. Jam the A button like mad to do an A attack as
soon as possible to hit the final target below you
that you are falling towards.

j) Falco
-------------

1,2. Do a running jump to the right and forward A to
hit the target going around the fire bumper and the
one going up and down below you.
3. Double jump into the bottom of the 2 cubby holes. 
Press A to hit the target to the right through the
wall.
4. Dash to the left to get out of the hole and
immediately double jump up and to the right to land on
top of the gray platform you were just on the left
side of.  Dash to the left, jump, and forward A the
target spinning around the starting location.
5,6. Double jump up and to the left and press A to hit
the stationary target just above your starting
location and the one that is just about to pop out of
the wall.
7,8. Do a forward B to hit the target that moves
wildly about the stage and the one between the 2 fire
bumpers.  Press B to stop before you go all the way so
instead of falling to the left side you stop in font
of target 9.
9. Press A to hit target 9.
10. Double jump up and a bit to the left and Up B at
about a 75 degree angle (almost straight up, a bit to
the left) to hit the last target.  That is the fastest
way to get to it.


k) Fox
-----------

(Note:  I have a much harder Fox strat that can get in
the 7s, but I haven't done it succesfully yet so I'll
put it in the next update.)

1. Run to the left and down B the first target. 
2. Right away, double jump and Up B to hit the target
above you and land above and to the right.
3. Jump and Up A the target above you.  Fast fall back
to the ground.
4. Run off to the right and shoot a laser in the air
to
hit the target in the "U" shape.
5. Press X quickly to get out of the "U" and onto its
right side.  Double jump to the right and aerial dodge
up to land into the upside down "U".  Press A to hit
the target in it.
6,7,8. Press down to fall through the floor.  While
falling to the left, shoot 5 lasers to the right.  The
first, third, and fifth lasers will hit the 3 targets
to the right.  Do a left B to get to the small gray
platform.
9. Shoot a laser to the left when the moving target
is at its highest point.
10. Jump and Up A the target above you.

l) Ness
------------

1. Press Up with the analog stick and immediately
press X.  Forward A the target above you and land
above and to the left.
2. Run off the left edge and douyble jump to the left.
 Right before you land, do a left b to hit the lewer
of the 2 targets in front of you.
3. Jump to the left, forward A the higher of the 2
targets, and land back where you were.
4. Run off to the right and forward A to hit the
target through the blue wall.  Double jump and air
dodge back on top of the wall.
5. Double jump and air dodge to land on the moving
platform above you.  Run off the right side, double
jump, forward A through the red wall to hit the target
there, and fall back to the left and air dodge back
onto the moving platform.
6. Double jump up to the first prong at the top of the
maze to the right.  Make sure to land on the right
side of it.  Left B to hit the target to the left.
7. Stil facing left, jump to the second prong, the
third prong, and before you jump to the 4th prong do a
back A and skip over it.
8. Now you are falling along the right side of the
maze.  As you pass the last target in the maze hit it
with a forward A through the wall.
9,10. Fall to the left, double jump, and do a regular
A to hit the last 2 targets next to each other.

m) Ice Climbers
--------------------

1. Run off to the right, jump and forward A.  You will
break a hole in the platform above and hit the target
to your right.
2. Jump through the hole you just made and land to
your left.  Run off the left side, double jump, and
press B to hit the target with your ice block.
3. Facing left, jump up and to the right to the small
orange platform.  Double jump and back A the next
target to your right.
4. Double jump and land on the cloud passing by.  Jump
up still facing left and forward A the next target,
landing where the target was.
5,6. Jump over to the right side of the upside down
“T”.  Double jump up facing left and press B.  Your
hammer will hit the target above you and the ice will
bounce down and hit the target on the left side of the
upside down “T”.
7. You should have landed on a cloud.  Jump to the
right, Up A the target to the right, double jump to
the left, and land on the lower of the 2 small blue
platforms.
8. Turn right and press B to hit the target below and
to the right of you.
9. Double jump to the left, Up A the target in the top
left, and fall on the highest small blue platform.
10. Double jump onto the top of the level.  Double
jump and Up A the target in the claws of the bird.
When I got my record of 15.58, the bird was right
about in the middle going towards the right.

n) Kirby
-------------

1. Run off the platform and fast fall, when you get
next to the target below, Up B th hit the target
through the wall and land in the alcove below.  This
is by far the most frustrating thing in the history of
BtT because it is so hard to time correctly.  It might
take you over 100 tries to get this step right for the
first time.
2. Jump out of the alcove 3 times, and right after you
press X for the third time press A to hit the target
above you.  Land on the right side and L cancel.
3.Run to the right and do a forward A to hit the
target through the wall.  L cancel.
4,5. Run to the left and fast fall down the chute.  Do
a back A to hit both targets below you.
6. Jump 3 times to the right and land in the right
area of the level.  Run off the right side and do a
right A.  L cancel when you land.
7,8. Jump 3 times up and to the left and do a left B
to hit the 2 targets next to each other.
9. Run off the left and forward A the target the
instant you leave the ground.  Start to fast fall
right after you perform the attack.
10. Jump twice to the right and forward B the last
target at the bottom right.

o) Samus
-------------

1. Double jump up and to the left and back A the
target up there.
2. Double jump to the right and Up A the highest
target there.
3. Fast fall to the left.  Jump to the left and press
A to hit the target.
4. Fall to the left of the floor, double jump to the
right, and forward A the target below the floor.
5. Fall to the right and Up B the target to the right.
 Land inside the really low short hallway.
6. Fall over the pit with the target in it and do a
down B while falling right.  The bomb will hit the
target and you will fall to the right onto the
platform.
7. Double jump to the right while facing right.  Press
left to shoot a B shot to hit the target near where
you start right before you land on the small platform
to the right.
8. Double jump and Up A the target to the right.
9,10. Fast fall and  A the target 9.  While continuing
to fast fall, jam on the A button to hit the last
target.

p) Zelda
-------------


(Note: Hold A when you select the level to turn into
Sheik before the level even starts.  If you ever want
to restart, hold A when you press Z.)
 
1,2. Double jump, hold a bit to the left, wall jump
off the bottom right of the left triforce triangle,
and Up A both targets above you.
3,4. As you fall, hold B.  Right before you land, let
go.  One needle will hit teh target next to where you
start and the other will hit the target below and to
the right of you.
5. Double jmup to the right and press b when your head
is against the ceiling of the right triforce triangle
to hit the target all the way at the right.
6. Jam on the A button to hit the target that you're
falling towrds.
7,8. Fall to the left and do an Up B so you hit both
targets at the same time and land on the small
platform to the left.
9. Press A to hit the target next to you.
10. Double jump up and to the left and when you get
above the left pillar, press B to throw a needle and
hit the last target all the way to the left.

q) Link
------------

1. Smash a boomerang to the left and up.  It will
travel diagonally, but not hit anything yet. 
Meanwhile, press B to shoot an uncharged arrow at the
target to your bottom left.
2,3,4,5,6. Double jump to the left over the returning
boomerang towards the moving platform.  The boomerang
will hit the 4 highest targets in the level.  While
you are in the air jumping over teh boomerang, hold B
to charge an arrow up a bit, and release it before you
land to hit the higher of the 2 targets all the way to
the left.
7. From the middle of the moving platform, smash a
boomerang to the left to hit the other target to the
left.
8,9,10. Run to the right a bit, then jump to the
right.  The boomerang will come back and travel over
you, then hit the remaining 2 targets through the
right side of the wall.  Meanwhile, you will fast fall
and right A in the air through the wall to slash the
target there.

r) Young Link
------------------

1. Wall to the right side of the chute and smash a
boomerang down and to the left.  It will travel over
your head and hit the target through the wall to the
right.
2,3. Double jump up towards the right wall.  When you
hit it, wall jump off the right, left, right, left,
and right walls, then double jump out of the chute and
land at the left edge of the left side.  To wall jump,
push the analog stick in the opposite direction of a
wall that you are against in the air.  You might want
to practice this a few times before trying this level.

As you are travelling up the chute, the two top right
targets should be hit with the boomerang.  If not,
start the level over.  You're going to need to
experiment to see exactly when to jump and how fast to
jump to manipulate the boomerang to hit the two
targets up there.
4,5. Land on the left side at the top of the chute. 
Take out a bomb.  After you hear the boomerang stop
(have the sound on on your t.v. for this), smash a
boomerang to the right and when it comes back, jump
over it.  It will hit the two targets at the top left.
6. Meanwhile, jump to the right and throw the bomb you
took out earlier down the chute to hit the target in
it.
7. Continue over the right side of the chute and land
on the right of the 2 stone arrows.  Shoot a fully
charged arrow to the right.  It will go between the 2
flippers and hit the target they guard.
8. Smash a boomerang to the right so it hits the top
of the 2 flippers.  When it comes back, double jump so
it travels under you and Up to hit the target enclosed
in the box.
9,10. Up B to hit both of the last two targets above
your head.

s) Pichu
-------------

1. Double jump and Up A the target above you.
2. Before you land, press left and then press B to
shoot electrictry that hits the pendulum you star on
and bounces to hit the target to the left.
3. Press X twice quickly to make it on to the top
black platform that just came up and right before you
land press B to shoot electricity that will bounce
around and hit the target inside.
4,5. Do a running double jump to the left and forward
A the 2 targets in the air to your left.
6. Do a running jump to the right and forward A the
target that goes back and forth between the 3 walls at
the top of the level.  It will now be on the left side
for you to hit.
7. Double jump back to the pendulum, and at the peak
of the jump press B to hit the target at the bottom
right.
8. After landing back on the pendulum, do a running
souble jump to the right and once you get next to the
hanging wall, press B to shoot electricity at it.  The
electricity will bounce around the wall and hit the
target on the other side.
9,10. Fall to the right and land on the platform going
down.  Jump to the right and down B to hit the last 2
targets.

t) Pikachu
---------------

1,2. Jump to the left and Do an Up B.  The first half
of the up B should be at a 45 degree angle up and to
the right.  This will hit both targets.  Then do the
second half of the Up B at a 60 degree angle SEE
(south east east [it's like south east, but closer the
east]).
3. After landing on the grass, run off the right side,
and when you can, Up B to hit the target at the bottom
right.  The first half of the Up B should be stratight
up, while the second half should be Up and th the left
at a 45 degree angle.
4. Double jump and Up A the target above you.
5. Fall a bit to the left and do an Up B to hit the
target in the "U".  The first half of the Up B should
go NWW and the second half should go SWW.  You should
land on the small platform to the left.
6. Jump to the left and Up A the target above you.
7. Use your next jump to get to the target to your
left. Up A it.
8. As you are falling, press B to shoot electricity in
the box that is opened on only the right side.
9. Press B again to shoot the electricity on the
ground. It will go around and hit the target below.
10. Position yourself directly below the last
remaining target which is in the backwards C high
above you.  Do a down B.  The cloud will appear right
inside that C and the lightning will hit the target in
it.

u) Jigglypuff
------------------

1,2. Do a small jump and press A.  Right when you hit
the first one, hold left to hit the target to the left
with the same attack.
3. Jump through the hole.  Double jump and Up A to hit
the target.
4. If you did it correctly, you will hit the botom
side of the top left fire bumper.  It will slam you
into the left wall.  Press L to L cancel and avoid
bouncing off the wall.  Instead, you be able to jump
instantly and you can jump and left A the top left
target.
5. Fall to the right, and when you get next to the 5th
target, double jump and immediately drill kick to hit
the target right before the purple moving object
passes below you.
6. Run to the right, jump, and forward A the next
target in the air.  Try to wait awhile before jumping,
so after you hit the target you can fall to the right
and fall directly to the bottom part of the level
without landing.
7,8,9,10.  While still in the air, jump to the left
and
forward A the seventh target.  Continue to do this,
using 2 jumps if you need to, until you can forward A
the last target.

v) Mewtwo
--------------

1. Jump and Up A the target above you.
2,3. Double jump a bit to the left and do a back A so
you hit the target that travels with the boxes that
shock you if you touch them and the one in the "U".
4. Forward A the target above you.
5. Now you will nad on the top of the fire box.  if
you can, slide off the right side of it.  Double jump
to the right and forward A the target at the top
right.
6. Fast fall and press A to hit the target inside of
the right pillar.  L cancel.
7. Jump and back A the target in the other fire box.
8,9. The last jump you made should carry you over the
fire box.  Press A to hit the 2 targets below you.
10. Double jump to the left and back A to hit the last
target that is inside of the left pillar.

w) Mr. Game and Watch
--------------------------

1. Press A in the very beginning to hit the target
that appears where you are before the announcer says
GO.
2,3,4. Run to the right and Up B.  You'll hit the
target in the door, the one right above the roof, and
the one that goes across the top of the level from
right to left.  Land on the left side of the roof.
5,6. Still facing right, do a small jump to the left
and back A 2 targets that will be there.
7,8,9. Quickly double jump to the left and Press A to
hit the remaining 3 targets in the middle of the
level.
10. Walk a tad to the left if you need to, then Up B
to the left to hit the last remaining stationary
target there.

x) Marth
-------------

1. Run off the right side of the level. Up B the
target at the bottom right and land back on the
platform. Catch onto the side of the level.
2. Press X to jump into the maze from the hanging
position. Jump and Up A and land on the left platform
inside the maze.
3. Double jump out of the maze and up A through the
ceiling to hit the target going up and down. This may
take a couple tries to time right.  You should hit it
when the clock says about 3.65.
4. Fall to the left and do an Up B that hits the
target directly above where you start. Land on the
platform on top of the chute.
5. Jump to the left and forward A the target to your
left.
6,7. Double jump to the left and forward b the lext 2
targets.
8. Fall inside the left section of the level with the
2 flippers in it.  When you get below the second
flipper, Up B to the right to hit the target through
the wall.  The fliiper will hit you back to the
ground.
9,10. Fall through the floor, double jump to the left
under the moving platform and Up B the last 2 targets.

y) Roy
-----------

1. Hold forward before the level starts.  Jump with X
and forward A to get the first target.
2. Double jump in the air to the right and do a
forward A as you are going up to hit the target in the
first box.  Land to the right and L cancel.
3,4. Move a bit to the right if you need to and right
B the 2 targets in front of you.
5. Still facing right, double jump and Up B so you hit
the up and down target up there and land on the tiny
platform.  Right before you do the Up B you should
hold the analog stick at about an 85 degree angle
north east (so almost straight up but a bit to the
left).  This will make you land on the small platform
above facing left.
6,7,8,9,10. Do a running jump to the left and forward
A the target in the air.  Double jump to the left. As
you start to fall, do a forward B on target 7.  Then
do a forward B on target 8 while travelling just
barely over the higher flipper.  These should not be 2
forward Bs in a row (i.e. a forward B combo), but 2
seperate attacks.  Fast fall and Up B to hit the last
2 targets.

6. Miscellaneous

Here is a very short list of the interesting/fun
things to do while you are playing Break the Targets.

1. When you press Z to restart the level, if you are
holding L and R the level will restart and the
character’s music from his or her level will be
playing as you play.

2. In Jigglypuff’s level, try to jump on top of one of
the higher moving purple things.  When you get out to
the left side, jump up all the way to the top of the
level.  Now you can hold your shield until you die off
the top of the level!
