  + Upgrade Jessica from EXP Level 9 (starting point).
  + Make your first Alchemy Item (Thief's Key).


~ Find out how to get to Abbot Francisco.
  + Talk to Angelo in Simpleton first, then at the Abbey.
  + Go to the Ruined Abbey and find the hidden way.


~ After Angelo joins:
  + Bring everyone's EXP Level to at least 15.
  + Start out for the Kingdom of Ascantha.

    - Bronze Knife ....... 150 G ... Extra weapon in her personal inventory.

~ If you don't have enough money...

    RECOMMEND: ZOOM back to Port Prospect, walk left toward the blocked valley
               and WHISTLE up some Battles.
               - ZOOM back to Peregrin Quay when you have enough money.

  + Use the following on Jessica:
    - Any Seeds of Wisdom.
    - Any Seeds of Magic.
    - Any Seeds of Life.
      NOTE: Although Jessica's MAX HP & MP go up:
            * Rest at the Inn for fill her HP & MP gauges.

    - Use the Seed of Agility on Yangus.
      * Buy him equipment when you have more Gold.

  + SAVE!!!

    - Level 10 -- CRACK .... Ice, single enemy.
    - Level 11 -- SIZZ ..... Fire, group of enemies.
               -- EVAC ..... Exit from a dungeon.
    - Level 12 -- SNOOZE ... a sleep spell, enemy group.


~ Jessica gets 9 Skill points at L10, and another 9 at L11.
  + As she gets more Skill Points:

  1. Add to "Whip" until 23.

     Whip =  5 .......... +5 Attack Power.
     Whip = 10 .......... WHIPLASH (can paralyze enemy).
     Whip = 16 .......... +10 Whip Attack Power.
     Whip = 23 .......... TWIN DRAGON SLASH (two hits random; one or two enemies).

  2. Add Skill Points to "Knife" until you get 30.

     Knife =  4 .......... +5 attack when equipped with a Knife.
     Knife =  9 .......... TOXIC DAGGER (causes poison damage; one).
     Knife = 15 .......... +10 Attack Power with Knife.
     Knife = 22 .......... ASSASSIN'S STAB (may kill an enemy instantly).
     Knife = 30 .......... Can now use SWORDS as well as KNIVES.

  3. Take "Staff" to 57.

     Staff =  3 .......... ACCELERATLE (Battle, ups agility, all party members)
     Staff =  7 .......... KASAP (reduces enemies' agility.
     Staff = 13 .......... +20 to MAX MP while equipped with Staff.
     Staff = 21 .......... BOUNCE (may reflect spells from enemies OR allies)
     Staff = 31 .......... MAGIC BARRIER (reduce spell damage, all allies)
     Staff = 44 .......... +50 MP when equipped with staff.
     Staff = 57 .......... CADUSEUS (restores all HP to one ally).

  + Sex Appeal:
    - This is NOT how Jessica affects people, but how she affects enemies.
      * If they are attracted to her, they miss a turn.

    - When Sex Appeal = 100, Jessica learns the HUSTLE DANCE (restores 70+ HP,
      all allies and self).

      * Jessica: Whip, Knife/Sword, Staff.
      * Angelo:  Bow, Rapier, Staff.

  + During Battle, each person can equip a different weapon by using ITEMS
    in the Battle menu.
    - Taking the time to switch weapons does NOT lose that individual's turn.

        > These cannot be used in the Alchemy Pot.

      * Bright & clear items can be used.
        > HOWEVER, combining some items will NOT make anything.
        > The Alchemy Pot will blow its lid, and the items will return to the
          Item Bag.

    - In the Item Bag:
      * Locate and choose (press[X]) the two items:
        > BRONZE KNIFE and IRON NAIL.
      * Press [SQUARE] to get the Pot started.

  + Whenever the Pot produces a particular item for the FIRST time.
    - Trode'll tell you if it is rare or if it is common.
      * Sometimes you have to make 'common' items.

  + TREEFACE:
    - Does a WEIRD DANCE which may reduce MP 2-5 points (one person).
    - May use a Medicinal Herb to heal itself or anyone in the enemy party.

  + JARGON:
    - Doesn't usually appear for battle until after you pass Maella Abbey.
    - HOWEVER: the Dingalings may call them up "as backup".

    - It may toss sand from the jar to cause blindness for at least three turns.
      * Yangus and Hero will miss instead of hitting.

  + You should hear the Chime somewhere between the ruined walls and the door to
    the Quay.
    - As soon as you do, check (use the MISC. Tab and "Alchemy Pot").
      * You'll be congratulated by Trode.

  + If you don't hear a chime, check the Alchemy Pot before going inside the
    Quay.
    - Trode will want you to use the Pot again immediately.


~ The next items you should make are Healing Items.

  + This starts a conversation with the merchant.
    - He tells you to take all the items in the T.Chests (so open them!).

~ Go across the grass and between the trees and head toward the river.
  + Travel along the north bank of the river.
    - Even though the grass pathway looks too narrow, it is just wide enough.

  + From there, go up over a hill and the first T.Chest is under a tree [SEED OF
    STRENGTH].

  + Go past the tree and walk along the cliff with the sheep to your
    right, then go north into the valley.
    - At the end of the valley is a second chest [SEED OF WISDOM].
      * Use both on Jessica.

REMINDER:
  + Listen for the chime when the Alchemy Pot is done.

    - Transfer Strong Medicine from Hero's inventory to the Item Bag.


~ RECOMMEND: Use ZOOM after you have both treasures.

  + For some reason the journey back has larger parties of more dangerous monsters.
    - For example, if you were to meet a pack of five or six BROWNIES,
       FLEE!
    - When I met them, two "psyched up" to 100 and Jessica died!

  + When you press [X] on the Item Bag, three choices appear.
    - The bottom one is the one to choose when sorting.
      * You can sort either BY:
        > TYPE.
        > ALPHABETICALLY.
                          
  + TYPE:
    - First: healing items such as Medicinal Herb, Strong Medicine, etc.
    - Next in this order:
      * Items that cure poison, such as Antidotal Herb, Strong Antidote.
      * Various SEEDS.
      * Items that are only ingredients.
      * Weapons.
      * Armour.
      * Headgear.
      * Accessories.
      * Items collected since the last sort are at the end of the list.

  + ALPHABETIC:
    - There are several pages of items and you can't find a particular ingredient.
    - For example:
      * Suppose you need a Bronze Shield, but it is "hidden" among the clutter.
      * Sort alphabetically, and look among items whose names begin with "B".

  + Sort items in the Item bag (don't forget to tell it YES).


~ The Item Bag has an unlimited capacity to hold items, however, some items have
  no use except to sell.

  + If you have any of the following Items you can sell them right now if you
    wish:
    - Oaken Club ............ Cannot be used in Alchemy.
    - Jessica's Outfit ...... Low defense but if you sell it, you may never see
                              one again.
    - Giant Mallet .......... Sell it when you have a better club for Yangus.


~ When working with the Alchemy Pot:

  + Make a note of items in the Item Bag that show dark (shadowed) in the Item Bag.
    - These cannot be used as ingredients in the Alchemy Pot.
    - Decide if they have any other use.
      * Sell those that don't.

  + This time follow the road until you see Maella Abbey's torches.

  + Listen for the chime when the Alchemy Pot is done.

    - If you turn left you find:
      * A Priest where you can SAVE!
      * Beyond the minister is the entrance of the Abbey.

      and Angelo are in it together.

~ Go in through the main doors to the Abbey.
  + Talk to the people you see.
    - Get the goodies shown on the map (B and J).
  + Continue until you get to the Templar Guards (G) and speak to them.


~ VIDEO:
  + The guards won't let you go further and treat you roughly.
    - A window opens above you and Marcello rebukes the soldiers.
      * Then warns you that he may not be able to stop them next time.
      * The window closes.


~ If you didn't go to Simpleton first, do so NOW, then go back and talk to these
  guards.

  + The guards say "You again? What do you want this time?".
    - You show them Angelo's ring and after making detrimental remarks about
      Angelo, they let you through.


~ Explore this part of the Abbey.
    - In the kitchen, you'll find a Mini Medal.

  + Don't go into the dungeon (the black opening) yet, but go to the garden.
    - Check out the barrels on the right side wall to find 26 G.

  + Talk to the Templars on the Bridge to the Abbot's residence.
    - They won't let you pass.
    - Talk to the Priest in the Garden, to get a hint.

+  FINDING ANGELO and TROUBLE +

~ Now go down into the dungeon.
  + It's a dark "hole" beside the door you came into the Templar Quarters.

  + Pass the cells on the left.
    - Turn right at the corner.
    - Talk to the Templar at the door to find out that Angelo is inside.
    - Go in through the door and you can see Angelo's back.


~ Approach Angelo to get VIDEO:

  + Marcello is very angry with Angelo for causing another brawl at the
    Simpleton Pub.
    - He says that Angelo is like a curse.
    - "If you hadn't been born, we'd all have been spared a lot of misery."
    - Marcello calls Angelo "a petty crook with a pretty face!"
    - He is "sickened" to think the he and Angelo share common blood.

  + Marcello, as Captain of the Templars sentences Angelo to a term of penitence
    by forbidding Angelo to leave the Abbey grounds.
    - "If you cross me on this, I'll expell you from the order."

  + Go back up the stairs to the dungeon and talk to the man at the top.


~ Go back out to the Garden.
  + Talk to the Templar Guardians.
    - They talk of a Jester and apparently allowed him to go through!!!!
    - But they still won't let you pass!

+ HOW TO REACH THE ABBOT? +

~ Go back into the Abbey and find Angelo.
  + He begs for your help for the Abbot because he cannot leave right now.
    - He calls the guardsmen on the bridge "obstinate idiots!"
  + But he tells you how to get to the Ruined Abbey.
    - There you can find the secret passage to the island where Abbot Francisco's
      residence is.


NOTE: YOU ARE GIVEN THE IMPRESSION THAT YOU MUST GET TO THE ABBOT IMMEDIATELY.

      + DON'T WORRY, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN UNTIL YOU GET THERE.
        - NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES.

  area.

  + A white pillar is fairly close to you.
    - Examine it.
    - You are asked if you wish to place the Templar Ring in the small slot.
    - Choose: "Yes!"

  + An opening appears beside the ruined wall.

    NOTE: If the Templar's Ring doesn't work, you haven't talked to Angelo.
          - Go back to the Abbey and find him.


~ YOU HAVE ENOUGH HP TO GET THROUGH THIS AREA IF... REPEAT IF...

  + JESSICA IS AT LEAST AT EXP LEVEL 11.
    - If she isn't, go down the stairs and stay in this first area.
      * WHISTLE up some battles.
      * Keep an eye on Jessica's HP.
      * When sh has leveled up, go outside and ZOOM to Simpleton.

  + He too died of the plague but his soul has remained tied to the ruins.

  + He moans: why does the Goddess remain silent?... Why do I remain in misery?...
    - He tells of the "pain of centuries".
    - He wonders why the Goddess hasn't given him rest.


~ His stats:
  + HP = 425, MP 285
  + Gives 680 EXP; 200 G.
   

~ He throws purple shots.
  + Will call friends for backup: a WALKING CORPSE and a SKELETON.

  + It is o.k. to defeat ONE of the backup critters before defeating TORTURED SOUL.

  + BUT NOT BOTH...

    - TORTURED SOUL will call for backup again if both WALKING CORPSE AND
      SKELETON are defeated before he is.


~ Once defeated, he gives Hero a GOLD ROSARY.
  + This is an accessory, adds 5 to WISDOM.
    - Can be used as an ingredient in the Alchamy Pot (recipe later).

  + Go through the passage behind and to the left of where he stood.
    - It opens out at one of the gravestones behind Abbot Francisco' residence.

~ First, toss the Barrels against the back wall to get a Mini-medal.

  + Go around to the front of the residence.
    - You find three Templars collapsed on the bridge.

  + Enter the ground floor of the residence to find more collapsed Templars.

  RECOMMEND: TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE BOOKS ON THE BOOKSHELVES.
             - You'll find that Francisco has a weird sense of humor.
             - You'll also get a partial recipe.

~ Now climb the stairs and you'll find the Jester hovering over Abbot Francisco
  who is asleep.
  + For the first time you see him in full color (this is no memory).

  + He gives Hero an evil grin and vanishes.

+  MORE TROUBLE!! +

VIDEO:
~ Four Templars followed by Marcello arrive upstairs.
  + Marcello jumps to the conclusion that Hero, Yangus and Jessica are the
    villains.

  + The Abbot tries to tell him they have pure hearts and are guilty of nothing.
    - But it is clear that Marcello isn't convinced.


~ You are now in the Interrogation Room.
  + Marcello demands that they confess and they try to tell him they've done
    nothing.


~ Just then there is a knock at the door and Angelo comes in.

  + It is clear that Marcello doesn't know of the secret way, because he says that
    they couldn't get to the Abbot...
    - UNLESS THEY HAD INSIDE HELP??!!

  + He then produces Angelo's ring which he found in Hero's possession.
    - He challenges Angelo: "Show [your] ring to me now!"


~ Angelo snatches the ring from Marcello claiming that it was stolen from him in
  the Simpleton Pub....

  + Angelo stalks out in spite of the fact that Marcello calls, "Wait! We're not
    done yet!"


~ Another knock on the door and Trode is hauled in as a "suspicious monster."
  + Trode is thrust onto the table and sees our friends.
    - He makes it clear that he belongs in Hero's party.
    - Marcello: "So much for a pure heart!"

  + Marcello is now convinced that they were trying to kill the Abbot and cause
    confusion.
    - He refers to his torture chambers and promises: "You'll confess in the end!"
      * "You'll learn the gravity of the sins you've commited."

  + He then says: "Until Sunrise! Sleep Well!" and gives an evil chuckle.


~ VIDEO ends with the four (Hero, Yangus, Jessica, and Trode) in a dungeon cell.

  + Have Hero talk to Yangus, Jessica and Trode, then walk around until...


~ MORE VIDEO:
  + Angelo makes a facetious remark which gets Yangus furious!

  + He unlocks the door and, telling them to be quiet, takes them back into the
    Interrogation Room.
    - The guard is asleep at the table.
    - They then move into the Torture Room.

  + Angelo seems to have a warped sense of humor.
    - He brings them all to an Iron Maiden.

    - He says he's going to show them something they've never seen before.
      * He picks up Trode.

    - He then opens the Iron maiden showing the huge spikes with "real blood".
      * "If I throw you in there, you'll be skewered!"
      * "I could make you Hole-ier than thou..."
      * Trode's teeth chatter.

    - Angelo then throws Trode inside and slams shut the door.

  + You hear a fading scream from Trode...
    - Then:
      * "Eh? Oooooh!
        "Can you hear me out there?
        "There's a secret passage in here!"


  + Angelo explains that he couldn't have helped them when they were in the
    Interrogation Room.

  NOTE: To "grass on us" means "to spill the beans".

  + He knows they saved the Abbot's life, because the sinister feeling lingering
    in the Abbey faded just before they were brought to the Interrogation Room.

+  OH! NO! FIRE AT THE ABBEY! +

~ Taking the secret passage, they come up in the shed near the Abbey from under
  the haystack.
  + The princess and the wagon are there.
    - Trode leaves with the wagon saying they're to make sure they won't be far
      behind.
    - Angelo blesses them and leaves.
    - When our heroes leave, they see the bridge to the Abbot's residence is on
      fire.

  + Return to the Abbey entrance and SAVE!!!
    - Hurry through the Abbey to the garden.
    - Hurry across the fiery bridge.

  + Act as if you are trying to go back to the garden and....


VIDEO:
  + Angelo appears from the Abbey.
    - He says he can feel "pure evil".

    - He runs through the flames and the bridge collapses behind him.

    - The door is locked from the inside, but all four of them are able to crash
      open the door.

+ DHOULMAGUS AGAIN! +

~ There's a Templar collapsed on the ground floor.
  + Angelo is trying to help him.
    - He says that Marcello is in trouble.

  + Try to go up the stairs...
    - A Templar tumbles down, gasping "Must save Abbot..."

~ At the top of the stairs, you see Dhoulmagus floating in the air near the
  stained glass window.
  + Marcello is standing guard over the Abbot.

    - Jester fires a black curse at Marcello, slamming him against the wall.

    - He fires a second against Angelo with the same result.
      * "Now there's nothing in my way."

  + The Abbot says he has given himself to the Goddess and is prepared to die if
    it is her wish.
    - There is a flash of light as Francisco holds up a gold cross.

    - Hero (remember curses don't seem to affect him) starts moving forward...

~ BUT .....

  + Trode elbows him aside and yells: "Wait! Wait! Wait! ..."
    - This scares Yangus!
    - Dhoulmagus, with an evil grin, refers to Trode as King Toad!

  + Trode orders Dhoulmagus to return himself and Medea to normal "At Once!"

  + Dhoulmagus raises his scepter.
    - You see the shadow of the Abbot, and he is impaled by the scepter.

    - Dhoulmagus:  "Such a pity! Seems fate and your benevolent goddess are both
                    on my side."
      * He laughs: "Such a pity! Poor Francisco."


~ Runes circle the scepter and it glows.
  + Dhoulmagus breaks the window with the Moon behind it.
    - Saying his work is done, he rises through the window and vanishes laughing
      evilly. 


VIDEO:
  + The funeral:
    - Everyone feels sorrow as the "Heavens wept with grief."
    - Hero and his party are cleared of suspicion.
    - It continues to rain until dawn.

  + You see Hero, Jessica, and Yangus asleep.
    - Angelo peers around the door and sees Hero is awake.
      * He assure them that everyone knows that they are innocent.
      * He says, "We're all in your debt."
    - He tells them the Templar Captain has summoned them.

~ When you go into the Templar Captain's office (guarded by two Templars):

  + FIRST: Explore the office and read the books on the bookshelf.
           - You get two incomplete recipes.
             > SAGE'S ROBE and REINFORCED BOOMERANG.

  + NEXT: Talk to Marcello.
          - He apologises for doubting them saying "Dhoulmagus must be the
            real culprit."
          - He indicates that he is the new Abbot and asks them to let Angelo
            accompany them on their quest for Dhoulmagus.
          - He gives them a Map of the World to help find the evil one.

+  ANGELO JOINS THE PARTY +

~ Go to the front entrance of the Abbey and you'll find Angelo waiting there.

  + Angelo wants them to know that he is NOT doing this because Marcello ordered
    him to.
    - He's doing it for Abbot Francisco.
    - In fact he is glad to escape!
    - He then (typical of Angelo) bows over Jessica's hand and assures her he'll
      be her personal bodyguard!!!

  + With a flourish, Angelo joins the party.


  NOTE: While Angelo has some personality problems, he is VERY good with a bow.
        - You'll be able to get his first bow when you get to Ascantha.


~ Angelo's stats:

  + He is at Level 12 with 72 HP and 38 MP.

  + He needs 1828 EXP points to get to the next Level.

~ If you follow the instructions below, you should arrive at the location for
  PAIN IN THE NECK (night monster) after sunset.

   + Sleep at the INN to MAKE SURE YOU START IN THE MORNING.
     - Exit from the WEST GATE (not the one you come in by).

   + Go uphill until you see a small knight riding a large green slime.
     - This is ONE NIGHT STAND.

~ Stay on the road and pass the entrance to Alexandria Village.

   + As you go down the hill toward the turnoff to Alexandra's Tower:
     - You should see a black critter on the left hand side of the road, where
       the slope rises.
     - This is BUFFALO BILL, a Bullfinch type monster.
       > He may put one person in the party to sleep.

       * HP = 240
       * Gives: 42 EXP  +  21 G.
       * Drops a Copper Monster Coin.

   + Strategy:
     - Have Hero equip and use his SWORD.
     - Have Yangus use HELMSPLITTER.
     - Have Jessica use TWIN DRAGON SLASH.
     - Angelo won't have any abiities yet, so just Attack.

   + WATCH HP, PARTICULARLY JESSICA AND ANGELO.
     - Use HEAL ALL (MISC. Menu) after the fight.

   + You should already have gotten the nearby T.Chest with 100 G.
     - If not head up among the cliffs, going in a Northerly direction until you
       reach the top of the cliff above the river.
     - Go East along the cliff edge until you find the T.Chest.

~ Continue on the road taking the righthand path at the signpost.

   + Keep on the road until you see the brown rock formations.
     - Walk through these until you get to the sand.
     - Head West along the beach past a tree-trunk poking up out of the water.
     - Keep going  until you can see the palm trees and a bluish-grey critter
       near the water.
       * This is the FAMILY DOCTOR (a kind of Jelly Fish). 

       * HP = 75
       * Gives: 44 EXP  +  26 G.
       * Drops a Copper Monster Coin.

   + If you haven't collected a T.Chest in this area, you'll find it in among
     the palm trees.

   + The other chest is further along the road.
     - Walk along the road until you see a signpost on the right and soon after
       that, a cat in the grass on the left.

     - Beyond the second cat is a cliff near the road and a taller cliff to the
       left.
       * Walk between the two cliff and into a valley.
       * Walk to the edge of the cliff above the ocean.
       * The T.Chest is on the far left.

  + MOST OF THE NOTORIOUS MONSTERS IN THE MAELLA REGION ARE STILL TOO STRONG.

      * But you're more likely to have Jessica or Angelo die.

    - The very least amount to resurrect a person is 90 G.
      * And each time you use this service, it costs more.

    - Wait until you meet Morrie, monster collector.


~ HOWEVER:

  + YOU NEED TO GET THE TREASURE CHEST JUST BEYOND Mullet Mallet.
    - It has a FEATHERED HAT.
      * Get it for JESSICA.

  + But AVOID (or FLEE) the Notorious monster.

~ The road to the Kingdom of Ascantha is part of the Maella Region.


RECOMMEND:

  + A good place to bring Jessica's and Angelo's stats up, is Ruined Abbey.
    - Go to Level 2:
      * Use Yangus's WHISTLE.
      * Use 'HEAL ALL' (in the MISC. tab) when needed.
      * When MP is low, use EVAC and ZOOM to Simpleton.
        > Heal at the Inn and SAVE!!!
      * Use ZOOM to get back the Ruined Abbey.
    - Repeat until Jessica is at least up to EXP Level 12 or 13.

      NOTE: "HEAL ALL" not only restores HP but also cures poison automatically.

  + You'll also pick up more Gold Pieces and you need to outfit the party for
    Ascantha.

    - The best place to do that, at the moment, is Simpleton.

  just this side of the bridge into Ascantha.

      * Across the river, you'll see a second T.Chest (how to get it is detailed
        below).
      * Return to the road.

   + Second T.Chest.
     - When you get back to the road:
       * Continue until you almost reach the Cottage.
       * Head north toward the cliff behind the Cottage.
       * With the cliff on your left, go along the grassy bank at the foot of
         the cliff.
       * Keep going until there is a sudden drop.
         > Below the drop is the T.Chest with 230 G.

        for quite some time.


~ Cross over the bridge.

  + You'll see a cow this side of the chapel.

  + Talk to it and press [X].
    - She'll give you a Bottle of Fresh Milk.
    - Milk is used as an ingredient in a number of recipes.


~ Just beyond the Bridge is the RIVERSIDE CHAPEL.
  + You should enter the chapel as it is one of the places you can get to
    with ZOOM.

  + Your first night's stay (talk to the nun) is free.

~ King Trode wakes up (maybe he heard something) and goes outside the chapel.

  + Angelo is leaning against a tree.
    - Trode tells him that he looks as if the weight of the world is on his
      shoulders.

  + Angelo says that Marcello will never forgive him.
    - If they didn't share common blood, they'd get along fine.

~ Then we get the full story.
  + Since you cannot skip the Video, I'll only put the highlights:

    * As a child (about 6 years old), Angelo's father and mother died so he had 
      nowhere to go except to Maella Abbey.

    * Inside the Abbey, Marcello (he's an adult) meets him and is really kind...
      > Until he discovers that Angelo is his half brother.
      > Then, in a nasty voice, he tells Angelo to leave.

      - Marcello was the golden boy at the Abbey and had a bright future.
      - He hopes that having Angelo stay will, over time, heal Marcello's wounds.

      - When Angelo was born, the maid and Marcello (who was probably at least
        15 years old) were thrown out.
        > That means that if it hadn't been for Angelo, he would have inherited.
      - Shortly after, Marcello's mother died and he came to the Abbey.

  + This hurt Angelo a great deal.
    * The continuing hatred shown him by Marcello didn't have helped.
      - Angel feels it added some spice to the humdrum life of the Abbey!

~ As you explore the castle, search any cabinets, jars or barrels.

  + Talk to everyone, and work your way up to the top of the tower.
    - Listen (in the Royal Suite) to the conversation between the Chancellor and
      Emma.
    - Continue up the stairs until you get to the top of the castle tower.
      > You'll observe the maid Emma, trying to talk the king into eating
        something.

  + If it is still daylight, go out and WHISTLE up a few battles until the sky
    turns red.
    - When it is evening/night, go up to the Royal Suite and listen to King Pavan
      as he crouches at the throne.
    - Go back down to the central staircase and you'll meet Emma.
      > She'll talk to you.
      > She wants to have the King see the Queen again.


~ Hints given in the town for solving Emma's problem:

  + At night, go to the Queen's Garden and talk to the old woman.
    - She talks about "Wisher's Peak".

  + Go into House 8a and talk to the woman.
    - She tells a tale about the "Moonshadow Window".


~ Go out through the Gate and Trode will meet and talk to you.

  + He is thrilled that King Pavan has such a faithful retainer as Emma.
    - When he discovers Emma is about the same age as Medea, he ORDERS Hero
      to help her!!!


~ The detour?
  + ZOOM to Riverside Chapel then go to Emma's grandmother's cottage.
    - Talk to everyone inside.

    - Grandmother tells you the story of Wisher's Hill.
      * On the night of the Full Moon wait quietly and a door to another world
        will open.

NOTE: The moon is ALWAYS full in the game!!!
      - And when you reach the right place, it automatically becomes night!

~ Behind the cottage is a downward sloping pathway that takes you to the path
  along the river bottoms.

  + Here is an opportunity to Level up quickly.

    - Strategy to defeat the METAL SLIMES:

      * Hero use the Sword skill ..... METAL SLASH (Sword = 30).
      * Yangus use the Axe skill ..... HATCHET MAN (Axe = 19).
      * Jessica use the Whip skill ... TWIN DRAGON SLASH (Whip = 23).
      * Angelo use the Sword skill ... METAL SLASH (Sword = 22).

  + If you don't have these, you won't be able to take much advantage of the
    following:


~ As you walk along the  the river, you'll get a battle with three Metal Slimes.

  + In several battles, I have gotten from zero to all three of them.
    - I have found them repeatedly, usually within 2-6 steps in an area around
      the original meeting place.

  + You'll still get other monsters, but in the area where you first meet them,
    you should meet more Metal Slimes (about once in three or four fights).
    - In about 20 minutes, you should be able to defeat enough Metal Slimes
      so that all members of the party increase two EXP Levels.


~ Making sure you meet more of the Metal Slimes:  

    - After the first Battle:
      * Take ONE SHORT STEP (use the Direction Keys to move) and use WHISTLE.
        > If you don't get one this fight, try a slightly different direction and
           WHISTLE again.
      * Repeat as long as is needed.
      * Stay close to where you first found them.

~ As you climb the slope, night falls.

  + Look for the Window.
    - The shadow falls toward a wall.
    - Stand close to the rounded top of the shadow as it stretches toward the wall.

  + When the shadow reaches and climbs the wall sparkles of light shine in and
    around the window's shadow.
    - Go close and press [X].


~ VIDEO:
  + When Hero is close enough he raises his hand to the wall.
    - From behind Hero you see a flash from where his hand would be.
    - The shadow on the wall becomes a door.

  + Go through.


~ On the other side of the window you see some circular platforms.
  + Glowing spots outline invisible walkways between the platforms.
    - The central circles on the platforms show the phases of the moon.

  + When you get to the house, before going inside go around the back.

    - Press [R2] and look up at the tops of the fountains of water.

    - You'll see all phases of the moon in a large oval.
      * They're moving even as you look at them.


~ Enter the house, notice the lights that are flowing as the musical instruments
  around the walls (windows?) play.

  + The person playing a harp tells you he is Ishmahri, keeper of the Moonshadow
    Lands.

    - He indicates it has been many moons since humans trod these lands.

    - He discerns the reason they are hear, but tells them he cannot bring Sasha
      back from her eternal sleep
    BUT...
    - Perhaps he can bring Pavan out of his waking nightmare.

      * He tells them to lead him to the castle.


~ Return to the Moonshadow Window.

  + As soon as you go through, you are in the entrance of the castle facing the
    fountain.

~ Ishmahri asks you to take him to the scene of Pavan's misery.

~ Go up to the Royal Suite.
  + Pavan is crouched over the throne.

  + Ishmahri plays his harp and says: "May the moon's rays trace scenes enacted
    here long ago."


~ VIDEO:
  + A translucent (ghost-like) figure of Sasha appears.

    - Sasha dances playfully around the room laughing.
      * King Pavan's attention is caught and he comes close to her but she fades
        away.

      * He then hears a voice behind him asking: "What is wrong?"

  + The Video is quite long and you can't skip it, so only the highlights are
    included here:

    - Sasha:
      * Sometimes you need to be firm. That's a Kings duty.

      * Everyone believes in you... Ascantha is your country.

      * My dear King, you're a wise and kind man. You should follow your own
        instincts.

    - King (the current one not the memory king who sometimes appears):
      * ... Ah yes. She was always like that, always giving me so much
        encouragement.
      * Why (sobs)? 

    - King (the memory one):
      * Sasha, why are you always so strong?

    - Sasha:
      * Because mother gives me strength.

    - King:
      + Your mother? But she passed away many years ago.

    - Sasha:
      * I was timid as a child ... and every day she would try to encourage me.

      * When she died, I was so sad and lonely... But then I realized if I went
        back to my old self ... it would be just as if she never existed.

      * I realized... I must remember... everything she ever taught me.

      * ... That way she'll live on inside me always... For ever...

    - Pavan:
      * Sasha, you're right. I should be more like you.

  + Sasha fades then appears on the steps up to the terrace.

    - Pavan climbs up to her as she holds her hand towards him.
      * He appears to actually take her by the hand even though it is only a
        memory of her.

    - On the Terrace they talk some more.

    - Sasha:
      * Look! Your country stretches before us as far as the eye can see!

      * My darling king. For people to live their lives happily... You must be
        strong...

  + Sasha fades as the sun rises.

  + Pavan falls to his knees.
    - ... I remember. Everything you ever told me lives on in my heart.

    - Forgive me Sasha... I'm sorry for being so sad and lonely.

  + VIDEO fades to black, words appear against the black:
    - ... At last I've finally woken from my long and terrible nightmare.

  + View of castle as the black swaths are rolled up and bright banners are
    dropped from the terrace in their place.
    - People in the village are back to wearing normal colors and a child is
      running around.

  + There is a feast and the King and our group of friends are at the feast.
    - The king says, "Now I can be a proper king to my people."

    - He promises to aid Hero if he ever needs help.


~ RECOMMEND: 

  + Buy a STEEL BROADSWORD for Jessica (at Knife = 30 she can use a sword).

    - Put the DAGGER in the Item Bag.
    - Sort the bag by "TYPE".

    - He thinks that "even a strange old geezer" like Trode could go into town
      and have a drink without anyone there making a fuss.

    - He also knows someone called "Brains" who "knows everthing about everything"
      and MAY have information that will lead them to Dhoulmagus.

      * The cliff has a cone-shaped grass cap.

      * Head toward that cliff and pass on the right (close in).

    - Ahead and to the left, you see the T.Chest which contains a LIFE SEED.
      * If you use it, do so on Jessica.
      * You make want to keep it as an ingredient for later.

  + Go up the road as if you were returning to the Riverside Chapel.
    - After passing the first cow on the left, turn to the left and pass the
      second cow.

    - Go to the edge of the cliff and walk along it.
      * Go down to the beach (you have a bit of a walk along the cliff).

    - You'll see the Notorious Monster LITTLE NIPPER:
      * You can take out this one without too much trouble.
      * It can use DRAIN MAGIC but the magic often doesn't work.

      HP = 125
      Gives EXP 65  +  27 G.
      Drops a Copper Monster Coin.


~ To get the T.Chest nearby, head for the waterline then head North along the
  waterline.

  + Where the beach ends is a T.Chest with a SEED OF DEFENSE.
    * Either use it on Jessica
    OR...
    * Keep it for a later Alchemy Recipe.
