SONIC HEROES FOR GCN ALSO FOR: PS2 AND X-BOX BY [email protected] - your guidemaker's best friend What's in here? 1. Review 2. The Teams 3. The Stages 3.5 Beating The Stages 4. 2-P Mode 5. Secrets 6. Legal Stuff _____________________________________________________________ _______________________ 1. Review Well they've done it. Sonic Team has finally created a game to remember. And it's their first game on multiple systems (GCN, PS2, and X-Box). Sonic Heroes is about 4 teams of three characters to a team. 12 characters in all. Check the next section for more info. _____________________________________________________________ _______________________ 2. The Teams TEAM SONIC Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. The moderate team. I figure most gamers will probably start with these cool characters before working on anyone else. TEAM DARK Shadow, Rouge, and Omega. The hardest team. It turns out that Shadow, who everybody thought died after Sonic Adventure 2, is actually alive. Pro: Better and badder than ever before. Con: Lost his memory. TEAM ROSE Amy, Cream (and Cheese), and Big. The simplest team. These guys have nothing to do with the story, if it weren't for Eggman nicking Chocola (Cheese's best friend), and Froggy. TEAM CHAOTIX Espio, Charmy, and Vector. Quite a hard team. These guys are from Knuckle's Chaotix. In Sonic Heroes, they're a crack detective agency. _____________________________________________________________ _______________________ 3. The Stages *Any stage with an asterix next to it means that a Chaos Emerald stage is in it. (SEA GATE) This is the tutorial. When you start the game, select `Tutorial` on 1-P Mode. SEASIDE HILL The first level. If you can't beat this level, take the game back to the store, buy a barbie doll, and hang your head in shame. Reccommended formation: Speed OCEAN PALACE* This is where the action really begins. Reccommended formation: Power GRAND METROPOLIS Eggman's city. Full of robots who eat lead for breakfast then come to work - on you. A blissful city with something for everyone. Reccommended formation: Speed POWER PLANT* This is where Grand Metropolis gets all its power. Take it out. Reccommended formation: Power and Flying. CASINO PARK Lucky for you, we're not here to gamble. Reccommended formation: Any BINGO HIGHWAY* Casino Park Zone, mark 2. Watch out for the Casino Bunnies. Reccommended formation: Any RAIL CANYON Don't fall. Reccommended formation: All BULLET STATION* Trains, robots, and cannons. Whoopee. Reccommended formation: Power FROG FOREST Froggy's family lives here. Reccommended formation: Speed and Power LOST JUNGLE* Froggy's worst enemies' family lives here, not to mention a big croc. Reccommended formation: Power HANG CASTLE Hope you like haunted houses. Reccommended formation: Any MYSTIC MANSION* Ever seen The Haunting? How about playing it? Reccommended formation: All EGG FLEET Time to kick some Eggman butt. Reccommended formation: Power FINAL FORTRESS* Bring plenty of toilet paper. Reccommended formation: All _____________________________________________________________ _______________________ 3.5. Beating The Stages Allright this is a new area, made to help you get through those tougher stages. Here we go! SEASIDE HILL What? You can't get through THIS stage?? Then you're absolutely crap at this game - go and buy a 2nd grade game or something. This stage is fairly easy - even on Super Hard Mode. OCEAN PALACE This is good for those who want something a little tougher than Seaside Hill (unless you're the moron who couldn't get past it). This stage is still easy, even for Team Chaotix. Switch to your power character often, because there are large fans located here and there that need the power character to use. GRAND METROPOLIS Another easy stage. Plenty of speed, so your speed character should be the default one for this stage. This is the first stage where you'll encounter rails, so practice on them. POWER PLANT Okay, now the going gets tough. Don't expect lots of speed areas in this stage. I suggest sticking with your power character. There are plenty of fights here, and more often you need to destroy a group of enemies to continue. About halfway through, you'll come across red balls of heat. They hurt so try to avoid them. CASINO PARK This stage can be remarkably exciting, since there are many pinball tables around, and it is possible to collect 200 rings or more here. You will come across a forcefield that leads to a higher VIP room. To get inside you need to activate a switch on the pinball table you just came off of. Lousy, isn't it. BINGO HIGHWAY This is mostly just rolling around. You'll find that the game BINGO appears. Just collect circles with numbers on them. When you get all (1-9) you get a nice ring bonus. RAIL CANYON This stage is for those who like rails and need to practice more. Don't worry though - you'll get plenty of practice here! But because it's mostly rails, it is very easy to fall, so keep your balance and your eyes ahead. BULLET STATION Less rails and more puzzles. Please note the trains you meet, and even the one you board. Also, you have to be wary of cannons that blow you to a new area of the stage. HANG CASTLE The thing that all people notice is that this stage goes upside-down. That can be very strange when you fall.....upwards! The pumpkin head ghosts will do you no harm, but don't run into them. Bounce on their heads to defeat them. Prepare to fly often in this level. MYSTIC MANSION Okay, you'll see massive robots here. Jump up with the power character and throw your pals at it's head. If you do no damage, let it whirl around with its hammer, and it'll shake. Hit it then, then when it falls, attack its head. The trolleys are tough because you need to dodge traps you find, so heed your friends advice when to jump! FROG FOREST This stage introduces flowers. Use your speed character to create a whirlwind and hop on it. You can use the control stick to move around while flying on that thing. Get close to a giant frog to activate rain. That will open up the path ahead. LOST JUNGLE This stage is very similar to the last one, except for black frogs that can sometimes stop your way ahead. Watch out. EGG FLEET Look out below. The big flying robots are here. Omega knows about these. Just attack it with your speed character (tap A repeatedly) and observe the light show. FINAL FORTRESS Ah, very tough. My advice is that whenever you see a choice of movement, always take the high road. Usually it means less having to deal with giant robots. _______________________________________________ 4. 2-P Mode Got a friend? A pen pal? How about an annoying sibling? Then 2-P Mode is for you! You need emblems to unlock all modes. After every 20, a new one is unlocked. ACTION RACE Both teams need to reach the goal as fast as possible. Here's a tip: Build up your Team Blast. No matter how far away the opponent is, they'll get hit. The best times to do this are when they hit a jump panel. BATTLE First team to knock the other off the stage wins. Here's a tip: If one or both team mates have fallen off, then use Team Blast. Not only will it hit the opposing team, but it'll bring your fallen team back. SPECIAL STAGE Both teams need to catch the Chaos Emerald first. Here's a tip: Use dash often. RING RACE Collect more rings than your opponents. Here's a tip: Focus on collecting a bunch of rings, then attack your opponents so they lose their rings. Remember Team Blast. BOBSLED RACE Be the first bobsled to win. Here's a tip: Collect rings. They'll increase your speed. QUICK RACE The goal ring is in the middle of a course. You and the other team are on either sides. You get it. Here's a tip: Check ACTION RACE's Here's a tip. EXPERT RACE ACTION RACE, mark two. The stages aren't shorter, easier versions but the real thing. Here's a tip: Don't fall. _____________________________________________________________ _______________________ 5. Secrets Remember those keys in the cages? Use your power person to break open the cages. Keep the key in hand, and don't get hit, or risk losing the key. ONLY collect the key on the stage where a boss battle follows. In those stages, you need to collect the CHAOS EMERALD. If it is the stage that follows AFTER a boss battle, well...that's more of a practice. Do the practice ones to earn lots of 1-UPS. When you: 1. Collect all chaos emeralds 2. Complete each team's story Then check 1-P Mode for the last boss....... When you: 1. Defeat the last boss 2. Complete all extra missions on 1-P challenge mode (with an `A` ranking on every one) Then Super Hard mode has been unlocked........ Okay, about Team Chaotix, their missions are uh, abundantly different from the others. Usually you just need to get to the finish in the shortest time possible. Team Chaotix offers more, variety, like collecting stuff (Seaside Hill), rescuing little lost Chaos (Ocean Palace), roundin' up rings (Casino Park)or just fighting (Grand Metropolis). _____________________________________________________________ _______________________ 6.
