Square-Enix is attempting to stoke the pre-order fires by announcing that consumers who wish to pre-order Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix will receive a limited edition, 24-page hardcover art book from the universe where Mickey and materia collide. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, besides being a title that fulfills my word count quota every time I type it, releases on September 10, exclusively for the Playstation 3, and will include hi-def versions of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, as well as Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories and Kingdom hearts 358/2 Days. This will mark the first time Kingdom Hearts Final Mix will be available outside of Japan, and though it includes new weapons, new items, and new abilities, to be fair Final Mix was initially released to include a bunch of features the North American version already and that Japan had missed out on.
Of course, hope and wild speculation has our hearts palpitating that perhaps this sudden attempt to build attention around the decade-plus old series is just a primer to get us ready for Square-Enix to announce Kingdom Hearts III at E3 next month (especially seeing as how Disney and Square-Enix have acquired just about every major franchise under the sun since the release of Kingdom Hearts II), but for now we will just have to sit and keep our comically oversized white-gloved fingers crossed.
