It’s been a busy few weeks for Rockstar since the release of Grand Theft Auto Online. By now, it’s not exactly news that the launch was… bumpy. But they seem to be making efforts to smooth things out and have released more details of their upcoming plans. Whether or not players will be placated with these plans remains to be seen. Here’s what they’ve recently announced:
GTA$ Stimulus Package Details
Rockstar announced a few weeks ago that they’d be paying $500,000 (in two $250,000 installments) of in-game currency to players who had to deal with the technical issues of the GTA Online launch. They haven’t paid up just yet, but promised this week that they are trying to “ensure that game progress loss issues are sufficiently sorted” before they start handing out the dough. They promise another update within the week, after which they’ll start handing out the money. What do you plan on doing with yours?
Beach Bum DLC Pack
Rockstar also announced this week that their first DLC pack (the Beach Bum Pack) will be available in early November and will include new weapons and beach-themed vehicles that players will be able to use in GTA Story Mode as well as online. The new pack will also include customization options for online characters, such as new hairstyles and tattoos. The Beach Bum pack also promises to bring additional jobs with Gang Attacks, Last Team Standing, Parachutes, Deathmatches, and Races. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates and an official release date. The best news? The Beach Bum DLC Pack will be available free of charge.
GTA Online Content Creator
In a move aimed at tapping into players’ creative side, Rockstar has announced that sometime this fall, they’ll be releasing the “first part” of an online content creator that will allow players to make, publish, rate, and play custom Deathmatches and Race Jobs. If yours is awesome enough, you could even get an “official” Rockstar stamp of approval and have your creations featured in their Social Club events. Like the Beach Bum Pack, the GTA online Content Creator will be free.
Stay tuned — we’ll share more GTA news as Rockstar releases it!
